Chris Lattner cc47ab3305 Fix a really subtle and obnoxious memory bug that caused issues with an
llvm-gcc4 boostrap.  Whenever a node is deleted by the dag combiner, it
*must* be returned by the visit function, or the dag combiner will not
know that the node has been processed (and will, e.g., send it to the
target dag combine xforms).

Evan Cheng a320abc494 Turn a VAND into a VECTOR_SHUFFLE is applicable.
DAG combiner can turn a VAND V, <-1, 0, -1, -1>, i.e. vector clear elements,
into a vector shuffle with a zero vector. It only does so when TLI tells it
the xform is profitable.

Evan Cheng 15c264b753 Handle v2i64 BUILD_VECTOR custom lowering correctly. v2i64 is a legal type,
but i64 is not. If possible, change a i64 op to a f64 (e.g. load, constant)
and then cast it back.

Chris Lattner 9754d142a4 Implement an important entry from README_ALTIVEC:
If an altivec predicate compare is used immediately by a branch, don't
use a (serializing) MFCR instruction to read the CR6 register, which requires
a compare to get it back to CR's.  Instead, just branch on CR6 directly. :)

For example, for:

Chris Lattner d6d82aa889 Implement v16i8 multiply with this code:
vmuloub v5, v3, v2
        vmuleub v2, v3, v2
        vperm v2, v2, v5, v4

This implements CodeGen/PowerPC/vec_mul.ll.  With this, v16i8 multiplies are
6.79x faster than before.

Overall, UnitTests/Vector/multiplies.c is now 2.45x faster with LLVM than with
GCC.

Remove the 'integer multiplies' todo from the README file.

Chris Lattner a2cae1bb10 Custom lower v4i32 multiplies into a cute sequence, instead of having legalize
scalarize the sequence into 4 mullw's and a bunch of load/store traffic.

This speeds up v4i32 multiplies 4.1x (measured) on a G5.  This implements
PowerPC/vec_mul.ll

Chris Lattner 14c4972b6d Prefer to allocate V2-V5 before V0,V1. This lets us generate code like this:

Evan Cheng e349d01acf We were not adjusting the frame size to ensure proper alignment when alloca /
vla are present in the function. This causes a crash when a leaf function

Andrew Lenharth a9cdcca3c3 Add a simple pass to make sure that all (non-library) calls to malloc and free
are visible to analysis as intrinsics.  That is, make sure someone doesn't pass
free around by address in some struct (as happens in say 176.gcc).

This doesn't get rid of any indirect calls, just ensure calls to free and malloc
are always direct.

Chris Lattner 92b1a57010 We have an assertion that checks that we do not encode null values into the
.bc file if they are supposed to be implicit.  This is cool, except that it
checked *after* constant expr folding: improving constant expr folding could
cause the .bc reader to assert out on old .bc files.  Move the check so that
it checks all simple constants, but no constantexprs.

Chris Lattner 95c7adc7cb Ask legalize to promote all vector shuffles to be v16i8 instead of having to
handle all 4 PPC vector types.   This simplifies the matching code and allows
us to eliminate a bunch of patterns.  This also adds cases we were missing,
such as CodeGen/PowerPC/vec_splat.ll:splat_h.

Chris Lattner 6be79823e7 * Add supprot for SCALAR_TO_VECTOR operations where the input needs to be
promoted/expanded (e.g. SCALAR_TO_VECTOR from i8/i16 on PPC).
* Add support for targets to request that VECTOR_SHUFFLE nodes be promoted
  to a canonical type, for example, we only want v16i8 shuffles on PPC.
* Move isShuffleLegal out of TLI into Legalize.
* Teach isShuffleLegal to allow shuffles that need to be promoted.

Evan Cheng a11d834b8c TargetData.cpp::getTypeInfo() was returning alignment of element type as the
alignment of a packed type. This is obviously wrong. Added a workaround that
returns the size of the packed type as its alignment. The correct fix would
be to return a target dependent alignment value provided via TargetLowering
(or some other interface).

Chris Lattner 8e1fcab2bc Scalarized vector stores need not be legal, e.g. if the vector element type
needs to be promoted or expanded.  Relegalize the scalar store once created.
This fixes CodeGen/Generic/vector.ll:test1 on non-SSE x86 targets.

identical instructions into a single instruction.  For example, for:
