Lang Hames 589eece132 [ORC] Switch RTDyldObjectLinkingLayer to take a unique_ptr<MemoryBuffer> rather
than a shared ObjectFile/MemoryBuffer pair.

There's no need to pre-parse the buffer into an ObjectFile before passing it
down to the linking layer, and moving the parsing into the linking layer allows
us remove the parsing code at each call site.

Serge Pavlov 76d8ccee2e Report fatal error in the case of out of memory
This is the second part of recommit of r325224. The previous part was
committed in r325426, which deals with C++ memory allocation. Solution
for C memory allocation involved functions `llvm::malloc` and similar.
This was a fragile solution because it caused ambiguity errors in some
cases. In this commit the new functions have names like `llvm::safe_malloc`.

The relevant part of original comment is below, updated for new function
names.

Analysis of fails in the case of out of memory errors can be tricky on
Windows. Such error emerges at the point where memory allocation function
fails, but manifests itself when null pointer is used. These two points
may be distant from each other. Besides, next runs may not exhibit
allocation error.

In some cases memory is allocated by a call to some of C allocation
functions, malloc, calloc and realloc. They are used for interoperability
with C code, when allocated object has variable size and when it is
necessary to avoid call of constructors. In many calls the result is not
checked for null pointer. To simplify checks, new functions are defined
in the namespace 'llvm': `safe_malloc`, `safe_calloc` and `safe_realloc`.
They behave as corresponding standard functions but produce fatal error if
allocation fails. This change replaces the standard functions like 'malloc'
in the cases when the result of the allocation function is not checked
for null pointer.

Finally, there are plain C code, that uses malloc and similar functions. If
the result is not checked, assert statement is added.

Zachary Turner cafd476836 Fix emission of PDB string table.
This was originally reported as a bug with the symptom being "cvdump
crashes when printing an LLD-linked PDB that has an S_FILESTATIC record
in it". After some additional investigation, I determined that this was
a symptom of a larger problem, and in fact the real problem was in the
way we emitted the global PDB string table. As evidence of this, you can
take any lld-generated PDB, run cvdump -stringtable on it, and it would
return no results.

My hypothesis was that cvdump could not *find* the string table to begin
with. Normally it would do this by looking in the "named stream map",
finding the string /names, and using its value as the stream index. If
this lookup fails, then cvdump would fail to load the string table.

To test this hypothesis, I looked at the name stream map generated by a
link.exe PDB, and I emitted exactly those bytes into an LLD-generated
PDB. Suddenly, cvdump could read our string table!

This code has always been hacky and we knew there was something we
didn't understand. After all, there were some comments to the effect of
"we have to emit strings in a specific order, otherwise things don't
work". The key to fixing this was finally understanding this.

The way it works is that it makes use of a generic serializable hash map
that maps integers to other integers. In this case, the "key" is the
offset into a buffer, and the value is the stream number. If you index
into the buffer at the offset specified by a given key, you find the
name. The underlying cause of all these problems is that we were using
the identity function for the hash. i.e. if a string's offset in the
buffer was 12, the hash value was 12. Instead, we need to hash the
string *at that offset*. There is an additional catch, in that we have
to compute the hash as a uint32 and then truncate it to uint16.

Making this work is a little bit annoying, because we use the same hash
table in other places as well, and normally just using the identity
function for the hash function is actually what's desired. I'm not
totally happy with the template goo I came up with, but it works in any
case.

The reason we never found this bug through our own testing is because we
were building a /parallel/ hash table (in the form of an
llvm::StringMap<>) and doing all of our lookups and "real" hash table
work against that. I deleted all of that code and now everything goes
through the real hash table. Then, to test it, I added a unit test which
adds 7 strings and queries the associated values. I test every possible
insertion order permutation of these 7 strings, to verify that it really
does work as expected.

Serge Pavlov 431502a675 Report fatal error in the case of out of memory
Analysis of fails in the case of out of memory errors can be tricky on
Windows. Such error emerges at the point where memory allocation function
fails, but manifests itself when null pointer is used. These two points
may be distant from each other. Besides, next runs may not exhibit
allocation error.

Usual programming practice does not require checking result of 'operator
new' because it throws 'std::bad_alloc' in the case of allocation error.
However, LLVM is usually built with exceptions turned off, so 'new' can
return null pointer. This change installs custom new handler, which causes
fatal error in the case of out of memory. The handler is installed
automatically prior to call to 'main' during construction of a static
object defined in 'lib/Support/ErrorHandling.cpp'. If the application does
not use this file, the handler may be installed manually by a call to
'llvm::install_out_of_memory_new_handler', declared in
'include/llvm/Support/ErrorHandling.h".

There are calls to C allocation functions, malloc, calloc and realloc.
They are used for interoperability with C code, when allocated object has
variable size and when it is necessary to avoid call of constructors. In
many calls the result is not checked against null pointer. To simplify
checks, new functions are defined in the namespace 'llvm' with the
same names as these C function. These functions produce fatal error if
allocation fails. User should use 'llvm::malloc' instead of 'std::malloc'
in order to use the safe variant. This change replaces 'std::malloc'
in the cases when the result of allocation function is not checked against
null pointer.

Finally, there are plain C code, that uses malloc and similar functions. If
the result is not checked, assert statements are added.

Pavel Labath f1440978a1 Implement a case-folding version of DJB hash
Summary:
This patch implements a variant of the DJB hash function which folds the
input according to the algorithm in the Dwarf 5 specification (Section
6.1.1.4.5), which in turn references the Unicode Standard (Section 5.18,
"Case Mappings").

To achieve this, I have added a llvm::sys::unicode::foldCharSimple
function, which performs this mapping. The implementation of this
function was generated from the CaseMatching.txt file from the Unicode
spec using a python script (which is also included in this patch). The
script tries to optimize the function by coalescing adjecant mappings
with the same shift and stride (terms I made up). Theoretically, it
could be made a bit smarter and merge adjecant blocks that were
interrupted by only one or two characters with exceptional mapping, but
this would save only a couple of branches, while it would greatly
complicate the implementation, so I deemed it was not worth it.

Since we assume that the vast majority of the input characters will be
US-ASCII, the folding hash function has a fast-path for handling these,
and only whips out the full decode+fold+encode logic if we encounter a
character outside of this range. It might be possible to implement the
folding directly on utf8 sequences, but this would also bring a lot of
complexity for the few cases where we will actually need to process
non-ascii characters.

Momchil Velikov c502027efd [DebugInfo] Improvements to representation of enumeration types (PR36168)
This patch is the LLVM part of fixing the issues, described in
https://bugs.llvm.org/show_bug.cgi?id=36168

* The representation of enumerator values in the debug info metadata now
  contains a boolean flag isUnsigned, which determines how the bits of
  the value are interpreted.
* The DW_TAG_enumeration type DIE now always (for DWARF version >= 3)
  includes a DW_AT_type attribute, which refers to the underlying
  integer type, as suggested in DWARFv4 (5.7 Enumeration Type Entries).
* The debug info metadata for enumeration type contains (in flags)
  indication whether this is a C++11 "fixed enum".
* For C++11 enumeration with a fixed underlying type, the DIE also
  includes the DW_AT_enum_class attribute (for DWARF version >= 4).
* Encoding of enumerator constants uses DW_FORM_sdata for signed values
  and DW_FORM_udata for unsigned values, as suggested by DWARFv4 (7.5.4
  Attribute Encodings).

The changes should be backwards compatible:

* the isUnsigned attribute is optional and defaults to false.
* if the underlying type for the enumeration is not available, the
  enumerator values are considered signed.
* the FixedEnum flag defaults to clear.
* the bitcode format for DIEnumerator stores the unsigned flag bit #1 of
  the first record element, so the format does not change and the zero
  previously stored there is consistent with the false default for
  IsUnsigned.

Adrian Prantl 8c59921ca3 Add DWARF for discriminated unions
n Rust, an enum that carries data in the variants is, essentially, a
discriminated union. Furthermore, the Rust compiler will perform
space optimizations on such enums in some situations. Previously,
DWARF for these constructs was emitted using a hack (a magic field
name); but this approach stopped working when more space optimizations
were added in https://github.com/rust-lang/rust/pull/45225.

This patch changes LLVM to allow discriminated unions to be
represented in DWARF. It adds createDiscriminatedUnionType and
createDiscriminatedMemberType to DIBuilder and then arranges for this
to be emitted using DWARF's DW_TAG_variant_part and DW_TAG_variant.

Note that DWARF requires that a discriminated union be represented as
a structure with a variant part. However, as Rust only needs to emit
pure discriminated unions, this is what I chose to expose on
DIBuilder.

Lang Hames 4b546c9145 [ORC] Start migrating ORC layers to use the new ORC Core.h APIs.
In particular this patch switches RTDyldObjectLinkingLayer to use
orc::SymbolResolver and threads the requried changse (ExecutionSession
references and VModuleKeys) through the existing layer APIs.

The purpose of the new resolver interface is to improve query performance and
better support parallelism, both in JIT'd code and within the compiler itself.

The most visibile change is switch of the <Layer>::addModule signatures from:

Expected<Handle> addModule(std::shared_ptr<ModuleType> Mod,
                           std::shared_ptr<JITSymbolResolver> Resolver)

to:

Expected<Handle> addModule(VModuleKey K, std::shared_ptr<ModuleType> Mod);

Typical usage of addModule will now look like:

auto K = ES.allocateVModuleKey();
Resolvers[K] = createSymbolResolver(...);
Layer.addModule(K, std::move(Mod));

See the BuildingAJIT tutorial code for example usage.

Daniel Sanders 760e113a03 [globalisel][legalizer] Fix a fallthrough case in the unittests debug printing
llvm-svn: 323711
2018-01-29 23:47:41 +00:00
Daniel Sanders 79cb839fcd [globalisel][legalizer] Adapt LegalizerInfo to support inter-type dependencies and other things.
Summary:
As discussed in D42244, we have difficulty describing the legality of some
operations. We're not able to specify relationships between types.
For example, declaring the following
  setAction({..., 0, s32}, Legal)
  setAction({..., 0, s64}, Legal)
  setAction({..., 1, s32}, Legal)
  setAction({..., 1, s64}, Legal)
currently declares these type combinations as legal:
  {s32, s32}
  {s64, s32}
  {s32, s64}
  {s64, s64}
but we currently have no means to say that, for example, {s64, s32} is
not legal. Some operations such as G_INSERT/G_EXTRACT/G_MERGE_VALUES/
G_UNMERGE_VALUES have relationships between the types that are currently
described incorrectly.

Additionally, G_LOAD/G_STORE currently have no means to legalize non-atomics
differently to atomics. The necessary information is in the MMO but we have no
way to use this in the legalizer. Similarly, there is currently no way for the
register type and the memory type to differ so there is no way to cleanly
represent extending-load/truncating-store in a way that can't be broken by
optimizers (resulting in illegal MIR).

It's also difficult to control the legalization strategy. We've added support
for legalizing non-power of 2 types but there's still some hardcoded assumptions
about the strategy. The main one I've noticed is that type0 is always legalized
before type1 which is not a good strategy for `type0 = G_EXTRACT type1, ...` if
you need to widen the container. It will converge on the same result eventually
but it will take a much longer route when legalizing type0 than if you legalize
type1 first.

Lastly, the definition of legality and the legalization strategy is kept
separate which is not ideal. It's helpful to be able to look at a one piece of
code and see both what is legal and the method the legalizer will use to make
illegal MIR more legal.

This patch adds a layer onto the LegalizerInfo (to be removed when all targets
have been migrated) which resolves all these issues.

Here are the rules for shift and division:
  for (unsigned BinOp : {G_LSHR, G_ASHR, G_SDIV, G_UDIV})
    getActionDefinitions(BinOp)
        .legalFor({s32, s64})     // If type0 is s32/s64 then it's Legal
        .clampScalar(0, s32, s64) // If type0 is <s32 then WidenScalar to s32
                                  // If type0 is >s64 then NarrowScalar to s64
        .widenScalarToPow2(0) // Round type0 scalars up to powers of 2
        .unsupported();           // Otherwise, it's unsupported
This describes everything needed to both define legality and describe how to
make illegal things legal.

Here's an example of a complex rule:
  getActionDefinitions(G_INSERT)
      .unsupportedIf([=](const LegalityQuery &Query) {
        // If type0 is smaller than type1 then it's unsupported
        return Query.Types[0].getSizeInBits() <= Query.Types[1].getSizeInBits();
      })
      .legalIf([=](const LegalityQuery &Query) {
        // If type0 is s32/s64/p0 and type1 is a power of 2 other than 2 or 4 then it's legal
        // We don't need to worry about large type1's because unsupportedIf caught that.
        const LLT &Ty0 = Query.Types[0];
        const LLT &Ty1 = Query.Types[1];
        if (Ty0 != s32 && Ty0 != s64 && Ty0 != p0)
          return false;
        return isPowerOf2_32(Ty1.getSizeInBits()) &&
               (Ty1.getSizeInBits() == 1 || Ty1.getSizeInBits() >= 8);
      })
      .clampScalar(0, s32, s64)
      .widenScalarToPow2(0)
      .maxScalarIf(typeInSet(0, {s32}), 1, s16) // If type0 is s32 and type1 is bigger than s16 then NarrowScalar type1 to s16
      .maxScalarIf(typeInSet(0, {s64}), 1, s32) // If type0 is s64 and type1 is bigger than s32 then NarrowScalar type1 to s32
      .widenScalarToPow2(1) // Round type1 scalars up to powers of 2
      .unsupported();
This uses a lambda to say that G_INSERT is unsupported when type0 is bigger than
type1 (in practice, this would be a default rule for G_INSERT). It also uses one
to describe the legal cases. This particular predicate is equivalent to:
  .legalFor({{s32, s1}, {s32, s8}, {s32, s16}, {s64, s1}, {s64, s8}, {s64, s16}, {s64, s32}})

In terms of performance, I saw a slight (~6%) performance improvement when
AArch64 was around 30% ported but it's pretty much break even right now.
I'm going to take a look at constexpr as a means to reduce the initialization
cost.

Future work:
* Make it possible for opcodes to share rulesets. There's no need for
  G_LSHR/G_ASHR/G_SDIV/G_UDIV to have separate rule and ruleset objects. There's
  no technical barrier to this, it just hasn't been done yet.
* Replace the type-index numbers with an enum to get .clampScalar(Type0, s32, s64)
* Better names for things like .maxScalarIf() (clampMaxScalar?) and the vector rules.
* Improve initialization cost using constexpr

Possible future work:
* It's possible to make these rulesets change the MIR directly instead of
  returning a description of how to change the MIR. This should remove a little
  overhead caused by parsing the description and routing to the right code, but
  the real motivation is that it removes the need for LegalizeAction::Custom.
  With Custom removed, there's no longer a requirement that Custom legalization
  change the opcode to something that's considered legal.

Lang Hames c8a74a0448 [ORC] Refactor the various lookupFlags methods to return the flags map via the
first argument.

This makes lookupFlags more consistent with lookup (which takes the query as the
first argument) and composes better in practice, since lookups are usually
linearly chained: Each lookupFlags can populate the result map based on the
symbols not found in the previous lookup. (If the maps were returned rather than
passed by reference there would have to be a merge step at the end).

Lang Hames d78ba0d4b2 [ORC] Add helpers for building orc::SymbolResolvers from legacy findSymbol-style
functions/methods that return JITSymbols.

lookupFlagsWithLegacyFn takes a SymbolNameSet and a legacy lookup function and
returns a LookupFlagsResult. It uses the legacy lookup function to search for
each symbol. If found, getFlags is called on the symbol and the flags added to
the SymbolFlags map. If not found, the symbol is added to the SymbolsNotFound
set.

lookupWithLegacyFn takes an AsynchronousSymbolQuery, a SymbolNameSet and a
legacy lookup function. Each symbol in the SymbolNameSet is searched for via the
legacy lookup function. If it is found, its getAddress function is called
(triggering materialization if it has not happened already) and the resulting
mapping stored in the query. If it is not found the symbol is added to the
unresolved symbols set which is returned at the end of the function. If an
error occurs during legacy lookup or materialization it is passed to the
query via setFailed and the function returns immediately.

Daniel Sanders 262ed0ecd7 [globalisel] Introduce LegalityQuery to better encapsulate the legalizer decisions. NFC.
Summary:
`getAction(const InstrAspect &) const` breaks encapsulation by exposing
the smaller components that are used to decide how to legalize an
instruction.

This is a problem because we need to change the implementation of
LegalizerInfo so that it's able to describe particular type combinations
rather than just cartesian products of types.

For example, declaring the following
  setAction({..., 0, s32}, Legal)
  setAction({..., 0, s64}, Legal)
  setAction({..., 1, s32}, Legal)
  setAction({..., 1, s64}, Legal)
currently declares these type combinations as legal:
  {s32, s32}
  {s64, s32}
  {s32, s64}
  {s64, s64}
but we currently have no means to say that, for example, {s64, s32} is
not legal. Some operations such as G_INSERT/G_EXTRACT/G_MERGE_VALUES/
G_UNMERGE_VALUES has relationships between the types that are currently
described incorrectly.

This patch introduces LegalityQuery which provides all the information
needed by the legalizer to make a decision on whether something is legal
and how to legalize it.

Summary:
This patch attempts to fix the DomTree incremental insertion bug found here [[ https://bugs.llvm.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35969 | PR35969 ]] .

When performing an insertion into a piece of unreachable CFG, we may find the same not at different levels. When this happens, the node can turn out to be affected when we find it starting from a node with a lower level in the tree. The level at which we start visitation affects if we consider a node affected or not.

This patch tracks the lowest level at which each node was visited during insertion and allows it to be visited multiple times, if it can cause it to be considered affected.

 The current implementations of AttributeSet::removeAttribute() and

alignment attribute. Currently, these implementations add the
to-be-removed attributes to an AttrBuilder and then remove
the builder from the list/set. Alignment is special in that it
must be added to a builder with an integer value for the alignment;
attempts to add alignment to a builder without a value is an error.

 This change fixes the removeAttribute implementations for AttributeSet and

attributes.

Preserves dominance in a deferred manner using a new class
DeferredDominance. This reduces the performance impact of
updating the DominatorTree at every edge insertion and
deletion. A user may call DDT->flush() within JumpThreading
for an up-to-date DT. This patch currently has one flush()
at the end of runImpl() to ensure DT is preserved across
the pass.

LVI is also preserved to help subsequent passes such as
CorrelatedValuePropagation. LVI is simpler to maintain and
is done immediately (not deferred). The code to perform the
preversation was minimally altered and simply marked as
preserved for the PassManager to be informed.

This extends the analysis available to JumpThreading for
future enhancements such as threading across loop headers.

Brian Gesiak 7b84de792b [Option] Add 'findNearest' method to catch typos
Summary:
Add a method `OptTable::findNearest`, which allows users of OptTable to
check user input for misspelled options. In addition, have llvm-mt
check for misspelled options. For example, if a user invokes
`llvm-mt /oyt:foo`, the error message will indicate that while an
option named `/oyt:` does not exist, `/out:` does.

The method ports the functionality of the `LookupNearestOption` method
from LLVM CommandLine to libLLVMOption. This allows tools like Clang
and Swift, which do not use CommandLine, to use this functionality to
suggest similarly spelled options.

As room for future improvement, the new method as-is cannot yet properly suggest
nearby "joined" options -- that is, for an option string "-FozBar", where
"-Foo" is the correct option name and "Bar" is the value being passed along
with the misspelled option, this method will calculate an edit distance of 4,
by deleting "Bar" and changing "z" to "o". It should instead calculate an edit
distance of just 1, by changing "z" to "o" and recognizing "Bar" as a
value. This commit includes a disabled test that expresses this limitation.

Lang Hames 2d3bc98f78 [ORC] Add new core ORC APIs (Core.h/Core.cpp): VSO, AsynchronousSymbolQuery and
SymbolSource.

These new APIs are a first stab at tackling some current shortcomings of ORC,
especially in performance and threading support.

VSO (Virtual Shared Object) is a symbol table representing the symbol
definitions of a set of modules that behave as if they had been statically
linked together into a shared object or dylib. Symbol definitions, either
pre-defined addresses or lazy definitions, can be added and queries for symbol
addresses made. The table applies the same linkage strength rules that static
linkers do when constructing a dylib or shared object: duplicate definitions
result in errors, strong definitions override weak or common ones. This class
should improve symbol lookup speed by providing centralized symbol tables (as
compared to the findSymbol implementation in the in-tree ORC layers, which
maintain one symbol table per object file / module added).

AsynchronousSymbolQuery is a query for the addresses of a set of symbols.
Query results are returned via a callback once they become available. Querying
for a set of symbols, rather than one symbol at a time (as the current lookup
scheme does) the JIT has the opportunity to make better use of available
resources (e.g. by spawning multiple jobs to materialize the requested symbols
if possible). Returning results via a callback makes queries asynchronous, so
queries from multiple threads of JIT'd code can proceed simultaneously.

SymbolSource represents a source of symbol definitions. It is used when
adding lazy symbol definitions to a VSO. Symbol definitions can be materialized
when needed or discarded if a stronger definition is found. Materializing on
demand via SymbolSources should (eventually) allow us to remove the lazy
materializers from JITSymbol, which will in turn allow the removal of many
current error checks and reduce the number of RPC round-trips involved in
materializing remote symbols. Adding a discard function allows sources to
discard symbol definitions (or mark them as available_externally), reducing the
amount of redundant code generated by the JIT for ODR symbols.

Bob Wilson 238deafb92 Remove the unit test from r321783.
This test fails when run on the sanitizer bot, and I do not see a good
way to fix it. The existing bogus target in MachineInstrTest.cpp is only
good enough to create instructions but not sufficient to insert them into
basic blocks. The addNodeToList ilist callback dereferences the pointer
to the MachineRegisterInfo. Adding MachineRegisterInfo would also require
TargetRegisterInfo, even a minimal implementation of that would be quite
complicated. I would be glad to add this back if someone can suggest a
better way to do it.

Alex Bradbury b22f751fa7 Thread MCSubtargetInfo through Target::createMCAsmBackend
Currently it's not possible to access MCSubtargetInfo from a TgtMCAsmBackend.
D20830 threaded an MCSubtargetInfo reference through
MCAsmBackend::relaxInstruction, but this isn't the only function that would
benefit from access. This patch removes the Triple and CPUString arguments
from createMCAsmBackend and replaces them with MCSubtargetInfo.

This patch just changes the interface without making any intentional
functional changes. Once in, several cleanups are possible:
* Get rid of the awkward MCSubtargetInfo handling in ARMAsmBackend
* Support 16-bit instructions when valid in MipsAsmBackend::writeNopData
* Get rid of the CPU string parsing in X86AsmBackend and just use a SubtargetFeature for HasNopl
* Emit 16-bit nops in RISCVAsmBackend::writeNopData if the compressed instruction set extension is enabled (see D41221)

This change initially exposed PR35686, which has since been resolved in r321026.

Serguei Katkov da56a7f388 [SCEV] Be careful with nuw/nsw/exact in InsertBinop
InsertBinop tries to find an appropriate instruction instead of
creating a new instruction. When it checks whether instruction is
the same as we need to create it ignores nuw/nsw/exact flags.

It leads to invalid behavior when poison instruction can be used
when it was not expected. Specifically, for example Expander
expands the SCEV built for instruction
%a = add i32 %v, 1
It is possible that InsertBinop can find an instruction
% b = add nuw nsw i32 %v, 1
and will use it instead of version w/o nuw nsw.
It is incorrect.

The patch conservatively ignores all instructions with any of
poison flags installed.

Summary:
The motivation here is LLDB, where we need to fixup relocations in
mmapped files before their contents can be read correctly. The
MemoryBuffer class does exactly what we need, *except* that it maps the
file in read-only mode.

WritableMemoryBuffer reuses the existing machinery for opening and
mmapping a file. The only difference is in the argument to the
mapped_file_region constructor -- we create a private copy-on-write
mapping, so that we can make changes to the mapped data, but the changes
aren't carried over to the underlying file.

Pavel Labath 56c2d99979 [Testing/Support] Make the HasValue matcher composable
Summary:
This makes it possible to run an arbitrary matcher on the value
contained within the Expected<T> object.

To do this, I've needed to fully spell out the matcher, instead of using
the shorthand MATCHER_P macro.

The slight gotcha here is that standard template deduction will fail if
one tries to match HasValue(47) against an Expected<int &> -- the
workaround is to use HasValue(testing::Eq(47)).

The explanations produced by this matcher have changed a bit, since now
we delegate to the nested matcher to print the value. Since these don't
put quotes around the value, I've changed our PrintTo methods to match.

non-references, I simply store the reference to the Expected object in
the holder.

I also add a bunch of tests for these matchers, which have helped me
flesh out some problems in my initial implementation of this patch, and
uncovered the fact that we are not consistent in quoting our values in
the matcher output (which I also fix).

Shoaib Meenai d806af3499 [CMake] Use PRIVATE in target_link_libraries for executables
We currently use target_link_libraries without an explicit scope
specifier (INTERFACE, PRIVATE or PUBLIC) when linking executables.
Dependencies added in this way apply to both the target and its
dependencies, i.e. they become part of the executable's link interface
and are transitive.

Transitive dependencies generally don't make sense for executables,
since you wouldn't normally be linking against an executable. This also
causes issues for generating install export files when using
LLVM_DISTRIBUTION_COMPONENTS. For example, clang has a lot of LLVM
library dependencies, which are currently added as interface
dependencies. If clang is in the distribution components but the LLVM
libraries it depends on aren't (which is a perfectly legitimate use case
if the LLVM libraries are being built static and there are therefore no
run-time dependencies on them), CMake will complain about the LLVM
libraries not being in export set when attempting to generate the
install export file for clang. This is reasonable behavior on CMake's
part, and the right thing is for LLVM's build system to explicitly use
PRIVATE dependencies for executables.

Unfortunately, CMake doesn't allow you to mix and match the keyword and
non-keyword target_link_libraries signatures for a single target; i.e.,
if a single call to target_link_libraries for a particular target uses
one of the INTERFACE, PRIVATE, or PUBLIC keywords, all other calls must
also be updated to use those keywords. This means we must do this change
in a single shot. I also fully expect to have missed some instances; I
tested by enabling all the projects in the monorepo (except dragonegg),
and configuring both with and without shared libraries, on both Darwin
and Linux, but I'm planning to rely on the buildbots for other
configurations (since it should be pretty easy to fix those).

Even after this change, we still have a lot of target_link_libraries
calls that don't specify a scope keyword, mostly for shared libraries.
I'm thinking about addressing those in a follow-up, but that's a
separate change IMO.

Zachary Turner 6900de1dfb [CodeView] Refactor / Rewrite TypeSerializer and TypeTableBuilder.
The motivation behind this patch is that future directions require us to
be able to compute the hash value of records independently of actually
using them for de-duplication.

The current structure of TypeSerializer / TypeTableBuilder being a
single entry point that takes an unserialized type record, and then
hashes and de-duplicates it is not flexible enough to allow this.

At the same time, the existing TypeSerializer is already extremely
complex for this very reason -- it tries to be too many things. In
addition to serializing, hashing, and de-duplicating, ti also supports
splitting up field list records and adding continuations. All of this
functionality crammed into this one class makes it very complicated to
work with and hard to maintain.

To solve all of these problems, I've re-written everything from scratch
and split the functionality into separate pieces that can easily be
reused. The end result is that one class TypeSerializer is turned into 3
new classes SimpleTypeSerializer, ContinuationRecordBuilder, and
TypeTableBuilder, each of which in isolation is simple and
straightforward.

A quick summary of these new classes and their responsibilities are:

- SimpleTypeSerializer : Turns a non-FieldList leaf type into a series of
  bytes. Does not do any hashing. Every time you call it, it will
  re-serialize and return bytes again. The same instance can be re-used
  over and over to avoid re-allocations, and in exchange for this
  optimization the bytes returned by the serializer only live until the
  caller attempts to serialize a new record.

- ContinuationRecordBuilder : Turns a FieldList-like record into a series
  of fragments. Does not do any hashing. Like SimpleTypeSerializer,
  returns references to privately owned bytes, so the storage is
  invalidated as soon as the caller tries to re-use the instance. Works
  equally well for LF_FIELDLIST as it does for LF_METHODLIST, solving a
  long-standing theoretical limitation of the previous implementation.

- TypeTableBuilder : Accepts sequences of bytes that the user has already
  serialized, and inserts them by de-duplicating with a hash table. For
  the sake of convenience and efficiency, this class internally stores a
  SimpleTypeSerializer so that it can accept unserialized records. The
  same is not true of ContinuationRecordBuilder. The user is required to
  create their own instance of ContinuationRecordBuilder.

Michal Gorny 8eaa8ec8fc [cmake] Pass -Wl,-z,nodelete on Linux to prevent unloading
Prevent unloading shared libraries on Linux when dlclose() is called.
This is necessary since command-line option parsing API relies on
registering the global option instances in the option parser instance
which can be loaded in a different shared library.

Given that we can't reliably remove those options when a library is
unloaded, the parser ends up containing dangling references. Since glibc
has relatively complex library unloading rules, some of the LLVM
libraries can be unloaded while others (including the Support library)
stay loaded causing quite a mayhem. To reliably prevent that, just
forbid unloading all libraries -- it's a very bad idea anyway.

While the issue arguably happens only with BUILD_SHARED_LIBS, it may
affect any library reusing llvm::cl interface.

Adrian Prantl a8e56458e6 Let replaceVTableHolder accept any type.
In Rust, a trait can be implemented for any type, and if a trait
object pointer is used for the type, then a virtual table will be
emitted for that trait/type combination.

We would like debuggers to be able to inspect trait objects, which
requires finding the concrete type associated with a given vtable.

This patch changes LLVM so that any type can be passed to
replaceVTableHolder. This allows the Rust compiler to emit the needed
debug info -- associating a vtable with the concrete type for which it
was emitted.

This is a DWARF extension: DWARF only specifies the meaning of
DW_AT_containing_type in one specific situation. This style of DWARF
extension is routine, though, and LLVM already has one such case for
DW_AT_containing_type.

Summary:
Extends SCL functionality to allow users to find the line number in the file the SCL is built from through SpecialCaseList::inSectionBlame(...).

Also removes the need to compile the SCL before use. As the matcher now contains a list of regexes to test against instead of a single regex, the regexes can be individually built on each insertion rather than one large compilation at the end of construction.

This change also fixes a bug where blank lines would cause the parser to become out-of-sync with the line number. An error on line `k` was being reported as being on line `k - num_blank_lines_before_k`.

Kristof Beyls af9814a1fc [GlobalISel] Enable legalizing non-power-of-2 sized types.
This changes the interface of how targets describe how to legalize, see
the below description.

1. Interface for targets to describe how to legalize.

In GlobalISel, the API in the LegalizerInfo class is the main interface
for targets to specify which types are legal for which operations, and
what to do to turn illegal type/operation combinations into legal ones.

For each operation the type sizes that can be legalized without having
to change the size of the type are specified with a call to setAction.
This isn't different to how GlobalISel worked before. For example, for a
target that supports 32 and 64 bit adds natively:

  for (auto Ty : {s32, s64})
    setAction({G_ADD, 0, s32}, Legal);

or for a target that needs a library call for a 32 bit division:

  setAction({G_SDIV, s32}, Libcall);

The main conceptual change to the LegalizerInfo API, is in specifying
how to legalize the type sizes for which a change of size is needed. For
example, in the above example, how to specify how all types from i1 to
i8388607 (apart from s32 and s64 which are legal) need to be legalized
and expressed in terms of operations on the available legal sizes
(again, i32 and i64 in this case). Before, the implementation only
allowed specifying power-of-2-sized types (e.g. setAction({G_ADD, 0,
s128}, NarrowScalar). A worse limitation was that if you'd wanted to
specify how to legalize all the sized types as allowed by the LLVM-IR
LangRef, i1 to i8388607, you'd have to call setAction 8388607-3 times
and probably would need a lot of memory to store all of these
specifications.

Instead, the legalization actions that need to change the size of the
type are specified now using a "SizeChangeStrategy". For example:

   setLegalizeScalarToDifferentSizeStrategy(
       G_ADD, 0, widenToLargerAndNarrowToLargest);

This example indicates that for type sizes for which there is a larger
size that can be legalized towards, do it by Widening the size.
For example, G_ADD on s17 will be legalized by first doing WidenScalar
to make it s32, after which it's legal.
The "NarrowToLargest" indicates what to do if there is no larger size
that can be legalized towards. E.g. G_ADD on s92 will be legalized by
doing NarrowScalar to s64.

Another example, taken from the ARM backend is:
   for (unsigned Op : {G_SDIV, G_UDIV}) {
     setLegalizeScalarToDifferentSizeStrategy(Op, 0,
         widenToLargerTypesUnsupportedOtherwise);
     if (ST.hasDivideInARMMode())
       setAction({Op, s32}, Legal);
     else
       setAction({Op, s32}, Libcall);
   }

For this example, G_SDIV on s8, on a target without a divide
instruction, would be legalized by first doing action (WidenScalar,
s32), followed by (Libcall, s32).

The same principle is also followed for when the number of vector lanes
on vector data types need to be changed, e.g.:

   setAction({G_ADD, LLT::vector(8, 8)}, LegalizerInfo::Legal);
   setAction({G_ADD, LLT::vector(16, 8)}, LegalizerInfo::Legal);
   setAction({G_ADD, LLT::vector(4, 16)}, LegalizerInfo::Legal);
   setAction({G_ADD, LLT::vector(8, 16)}, LegalizerInfo::Legal);
   setAction({G_ADD, LLT::vector(2, 32)}, LegalizerInfo::Legal);
   setAction({G_ADD, LLT::vector(4, 32)}, LegalizerInfo::Legal);
   setLegalizeVectorElementToDifferentSizeStrategy(
       G_ADD, 0, widenToLargerTypesUnsupportedOtherwise);

As currently implemented here, vector types are legalized by first
making the vector element size legal, followed by then making the number
of lanes legal. The strategy to follow in the first step is set by a
call to setLegalizeVectorElementToDifferentSizeStrategy, see example
above. The strategy followed in the second step
"moreToWiderTypesAndLessToWidest" (see code for its definition),
indicating that vectors are widened to more elements so they map to
natively supported vector widths, or when there isn't a legal wider
vector, split the vector to map it to the widest vector supported.

Therefore, for the above specification, some example legalizations are:
  * getAction({G_ADD, LLT::vector(3, 3)})
    returns {WidenScalar, LLT::vector(3, 8)}
  * getAction({G_ADD, LLT::vector(3, 8)})
    then returns {MoreElements, LLT::vector(8, 8)}
  * getAction({G_ADD, LLT::vector(20, 8)})
    returns {FewerElements, LLT::vector(16, 8)}

2. Key implementation aspects.

How to legalize a specific (operation, type index, size) tuple is
represented by mapping intervals of integers representing a range of
size types to an action to take, e.g.:

       setScalarAction({G_ADD, LLT:scalar(1)},
                       {{1, WidenScalar},  // bit sizes [ 1, 31[
                        {32, Legal},       // bit sizes [32, 33[
                        {33, WidenScalar}, // bit sizes [33, 64[
                        {64, Legal},       // bit sizes [64, 65[
                        {65, NarrowScalar} // bit sizes [65, +inf[
                       });

Please note that most of the code to do the actual lowering of
non-power-of-2 sized types is currently missing, this is just trying to
make it possible for targets to specify what is legal, and how non-legal
types should be legalized. Probably quite a bit of further work is
needed in the actual legalizing and the other passes in GlobalISel to
support non-power-of-2 sized types.

I hope the documentation in LegalizerInfo.h and the examples provided in the
various {Target}LegalizerInfo.cpp and LegalizerInfoTest.cpp explains well
enough how this is meant to be used.

This drops the need for LLT::{half,double}...Size().

Sanjay Patel 629c411538 [IR] redefine 'UnsafeAlgebra' / 'reassoc' fast-math-flags and add 'trans' fast-math-flag
As discussed on llvm-dev:
http://lists.llvm.org/pipermail/llvm-dev/2016-November/107104.html
and again more recently:
http://lists.llvm.org/pipermail/llvm-dev/2017-October/118118.html

...this is a step in cleaning up our fast-math-flags implementation in IR to better match
the capabilities of both clang's user-visible flags and the backend's flags for SDNode.

As proposed in the above threads, we're replacing the 'UnsafeAlgebra' bit (which had the
'umbrella' meaning that all flags are set) with a new bit that only applies to algebraic
reassociation - 'AllowReassoc'.

We're also adding a bit to allow approximations for library functions called 'ApproxFunc'
(this was initially proposed as 'libm' or similar).

...and we're out of bits. 7 bits ought to be enough for anyone, right? :) FWIW, I did
look at getting this out of SubclassOptionalData via SubclassData (spacious 16-bits),
but that's apparently already used for other purposes. Also, I don't think we can just
add a field to FPMathOperator because Operator is not intended to be instantiated.
We'll defer movement of FMF to another day.

We keep the 'fast' keyword. I thought about removing that, but seeing IR like this:
%f.fast = fadd reassoc nnan ninf nsz arcp contract afn float %op1, %op2
...made me think we want to keep the shortcut synonym.

Finally, this change is binary incompatible with existing IR as seen in the
compatibility tests. This statement:
"Newer releases can ignore features from older releases, but they cannot miscompile
them. For example, if nsw is ever replaced with something else, dropping it would be
a valid way to upgrade the IR."
( http://llvm.org/docs/DeveloperPolicy.html#ir-backwards-compatibility )
...provides the flexibility we want to make this change without requiring a new IR
version. Ie, we're not loosening the FP strictness of existing IR. At worst, we will
fail to optimize some previously 'fast' code because it's no longer recognized as
'fast'. This should get fixed as we audit/squash all of the uses of 'isFast()'.

Note: an inter-dependent clang commit to use the new API name should closely follow
commit.

Bob Wilson 7e55e68852 Add a new Simulator entry for the target triple environment.
Apple's iOS, tvOS and watchOS simulator platforms have never been clearly
distinguished in the target triples. Even though they are intended to
behave similarly to the corresponding device platforms, they have separate
SDKs and are really separate platforms from the compiler's perspective.
Clang now defines a macro when building for one of these simulator platforms
(r297866) but that relies on the very indirect mechanism of checking to see
which option was used to specify the minimum deployment target. That is not
so great. Swift would also like to distinguish these simulator platforms in
a similar way, but unlike Clang, Swift does not use a separate option to
specify the minimum deployment target -- it uses a -target option to
specify the target triple directly, including the OS version number.
Using a different target triple for the simulator platforms is a much
more direct and obvious way to specify this. Putting the "simulator" in
the environment component of the triple means the OS values can stay the
same and existing code the looks at the OS field will not be affected.

Vlad Tsyrklevich 4dc1c9735b Statically link llvm-cfi-verify's libraries.
Summary:
llvm-cfi-verify (D38379) introduced a potential build failure when compiling with `-DLLVM_BUILD_LLVM_DYLIB=ON -DLLVM_LINK_LLVM_DYLIB=ON`. Specific versions of cmake seem to treat the `add_subdirectory()` rule differently. It seems as if old versions of cmake BFS these rules, adding them to the fringe for expansion later. Newer versions of cmake seem to immediately execute CMakeFiles that are present in this subdirectory.

If the subdirectory is expanded through the fringe, the globbing resultant from `llvm_add_implicit_projects()` from `cmake/modules/AddLLVM.cmake:1012` means that `tools/llvm-shlib/CMakeFile.txt` gets executed before `tools/llvm-cfi-verify/lib/CMakeFile.txt`. As the latter CMakeFile adds a new library, this expansion order means that the library files required the unit tests in `unittests/tools/llvm-cfi-verify/` are not present in the dynamic library. This causes unit tests to fail as the required functions can't be found.

This change now ensures that the libraries created by `llvm-cfi-verify` are statically linked into the unit tests. As `tools/llvm-cfi-verify/lib` no longer adds anything to `llvm-shlib`, there should be no concern about the order-of-compilation.

to convert between LatticeKeys and LLVM Values by providing a specialization of

Sanjoy Das c70a7a02ea [SCEV] Maintain and use a loop->loop invalidation dependency
Summary:
This change uses the loop use list added in the previous change to remember the
loops that appear in the trip count expressions of other loops; and uses it in
forgetLoop. This lets us not scan every loop in the function on a forgetLoop
call.

With this change we no longer invalidate clear out backedge taken counts on
forgetValue. I think this is fine -- the contract is that SCEV users must call
forgetLoop(L) if their change to the IR could have changed the trip count of L;
solely calling forgetValue on a value feeding into the backedge condition of L
is not enough. Moreover, I don't think we can strengthen forgetValue to be
sufficient for invalidating trip counts without significantly re-architecting
SCEV. For instance, if we have the loop:

  I = *Ptr;
  E = I + 10;
  do {
    // ...
  } while (++I != E);

then the backedge taken count of the loop is 9, and it has no reference to
either I or E, i.e. there is no way in SCEV today to re-discover the dependency
of the loop's trip count on E or I. So a SCEV client cannot change E to (say)
"I + 20", call forgetValue(E) and expect the loop's trip count to be updated.

Diana Picus 4a5f522d4d MachineInstr: Make isEqual agree with getHashValue in MachineInstrExpressionTrait
MachineInstr::isIdenticalTo has a lot of logic for dealing with register
Defs (i.e. deciding whether to take them into account or ignore them).
This logic gets things wrong in some obscure cases, for instance if an
operand is not a Def for both the current MI and the one we are
comparing to.

I'm not sure if it's possible for this to happen for regular register
operands, but it may happen in the ARM backend for special operands
which use sentinel values for the register (i.e. 0, which is neither a
physical register nor a virtual one).

This causes MachineInstrExpressionTrait::isEqual (which uses
MachineInstr::isIdenticalTo) to return true for the following
instructions, which are the same except for the fact that one sets the
flags and the other one doesn't:
%1114 = ADDrsi %1113, %216, 17, 14, _, def _
%1115 = ADDrsi %1113, %216, 17, 14, _, _

OTOH, MachineInstrExpressionTrait::getHashValue returns different values
for the 2 instructions due to the different isDef on the last operand.
In practice this means that when trying to add those instructions to a
DenseMap, they will be considered different because of their different
hash values, but when growing the map we might get an assertion while
copying from the old buckets to the new buckets because isEqual
misleadingly returns true.

This patch makes sure that isEqual and getHashValue agree, by improving
the checks in MachineInstr::isIdenticalTo when we are ignoring virtual
register definitions (which is what the Trait uses). Firstly, instead of
checking isPhysicalRegister, we use !isVirtualRegister, so that we cover
both physical registers and sentinel values. Secondly, instead of
checking MachineOperand::isReg, we use MachineOperand::isIdenticalTo,
which checks isReg, isSubReg and isDef, which are the same values that
the hash function uses to compute the hash.

Note that the function is symmetric with this change, since if the
current operand is not a Def, we check MachineOperand::isIdenticalTo,
which returns false if the operands have different isDef's.

Peter Collingbourne 80e31f1f84 Support: Rewrite Windows implementation of sys::fs::rename to be more POSIXy.
The current implementation of rename uses ReplaceFile if the
destination file already exists. According to the documentation for
ReplaceFile, the source file is opened without a sharing mode. This
means that there is a short interval of time between when ReplaceFile
renames the file and when it closes the file during which the
destination file cannot be opened.

This behaviour is not POSIX compliant because rename is supposed
to be atomic. It was also causing intermittent link failures when
linking with a ThinLTO cache; the ThinLTO cache implementation expects
all cache files to be openable.

This patch addresses that problem by re-implementing rename
using CreateFile and SetFileInformationByHandle. It is roughly a
reimplementation of ReplaceFile with a better sharing policy as well
as support for renaming in the case where the destination file does
not exist.

This implementation is still not fully POSIX. Specifically in the case
where the destination file is open at the point when rename is called,
there will be a short interval of time during which the destination
file will not exist. It isn't clear whether it is possible to avoid
this using the Windows API.

Adrian Prantl a8b2ddbde4 Move the stripping of invalid debug info from the Verifier to AutoUpgrade.
This came out of a recent discussion on llvm-dev
(https://reviews.llvm.org/D38042). Currently the Verifier will strip
the debug info metadata from a module if it finds the dbeug info to be
malformed. This feature is very valuable since it allows us to improve
the Verifier by making it stricter without breaking bcompatibility,
but arguable the Verifier pass should not be modifying the IR. This
patch moves the stripping of broken debug info into AutoUpgrade
(UpgradeDebugInfo to be precise), which is a much better location for
this since the stripping of malformed (i.e., produced by older, buggy
versions of Clang) is a (harsh) form of AutoUpgrade.

This change is mostly NFC in nature, the one big difference is the
behavior when LLVM module passes are introducing malformed debug
info. Prior to this patch, a NoAsserts build would have printed a
warning and stripped the debug info, after this patch the Verifier
will report a fatal error. I believe this behavior is actually more
desirable anyway.

But there's a bug in UStar header creation. "Suffix" part must be a NUL-

Vlad Tsyrklevich 998b220e97 Add section headers to SpecialCaseLists
Summary:
Sanitizer blacklist entries currently apply to all sanitizers--there
is no way to specify that an entry should only apply to a specific
sanitizer. This is important for Control Flow Integrity since there are
several different CFI modes that can be enabled at once. For maximum
security, CFI blacklist entries should be scoped to only the specific
CFI mode(s) that entry applies to.

Adding section headers to SpecialCaseLists allows users to specify more
information about list entries, like sanitizer names or other metadata,
like so:

  [section1]
  fun:*fun1*
  [section2|section3]
  fun:*fun23*

The section headers are regular expressions. For backwards compatbility,
blacklist entries entered before a section header are put into the '[*]'
section so that blacklists without sections retain the same behavior.

SpecialCaseList has been modified to also accept a section name when
matching against the blacklist. It has also been modified so the
follow-up change to clang can define a derived class that allows
matching sections by SectionMask instead of by string.

Sam Clegg 66a99e41cd Change encodeU/SLEB128 to pad to certain number of bytes
Previously the 'Padding' argument was the number of padding
bytes to add. However most callers that use 'Padding' know
how many overall bytes they need to write. With the previous
code this would mean encoding the LEB once to find out how
many bytes it would occupy and then using this to calulate
the 'Padding' value.

This patch started as an attempt to rebase Greg's differential (D32821).
The result is both quite similar and different at the same time. It adds
the following checks:

 - Verify that all address ranges in a DIE are valid.
 - Verify that no ranges within the DIE overlap.
 - Verify that no ranges overlap with the ranges of a sibling.
 - Verify that children are completely contained in its (direct)

Vedant Kumar 79a1b5ee5a [Coverage] Build sorted and unique segments
A coverage segment contains a starting line and column, an execution
count, and some other metadata. Clients of the coverage library use
segments to prepare line-oriented reports.

Users of the coverage library depend on segments being unique and sorted
in source order. Currently this is not guaranteed (this is why the clang
change which introduced deferred regions was reverted).

This commit documents the "unique and sorted" condition and asserts that
it holds. It also fixes the SegmentBuilder so that it produces correct
output in some edge cases.

Testing: I've added unit tests for some edge cases. I've also checked
that the new SegmentBuilder implementation is fully covered. Apart from
running check-profile and the llvm-cov tests, I've successfully used a
stage1 llvm-cov to prepare a coverage report for an instrumented clang
binary.

Daniel Neilson 3f0e4ad833 [SCEV] Ensure ScalarEvolution::createAddRecFromPHIWithCastsImpl properly handles out of range truncations of the start and accum values
Summary:
 When constructing the predicate P1 in ScalarEvolution::createAddRecFromPHIWithCastsImpl() it is possible
for the PHISCEV from which the predicate is constructed to be a SCEVConstant instead of a SCEVAddRec. If
this happens, then the cast<SCEVAddRec>(PHISCEV) in the code will assert.

 Such a PHISCEV is possible if either the start value or the accumulator value is a constant value
that not equal to its truncated value, and if the truncated value is zero.

 This patch adds tests that demonstrate the cast<> assertion, and fixes this problem by checking
whether the PHISCEV is a constant before constructing the P1 predicate; if it is, then P1 is
equivalent to one of P2 or P3. Additionally, if we know that the start value or accumulator
value are constants then we check whether the P2 and/or P3 predicates are known false at compile
time; if either is, then we bail out of constructing the AddRec.

Lang Hames 617fc35637 [ORC] Add a pair of ORC layers that forward object-layer operations via RPC.
This patch introduces RemoteObjectClientLayer and RemoteObjectServerLayer,
which can be used to forward ORC object-layer operations from a JIT stack in
the client to a JIT stack (consisting only of object-layers) in the server.

This is a new way to support remote-JITing in LLVM. The previous approach
(supported by OrcRemoteTargetClient and OrcRemoteTargetServer) used a
remote-mapping memory manager that sat "beneath" the JIT stack and sent
fully-relocated binary blobs to the server. The main advantage of the new
approach is that relocatable objects can be cached on the server and re-used
(if the code that they represent hasn't changed), whereas fully-relocated blobs
can not (since the addresses they have been permanently bound to will change
from run to run).

Lang Hames 5d06c23d4c [Error] Add a handleExpected utility.
handleExpected is similar to handleErrors, but takes an Expected<T> as its first
input value and a fallback functor as its second, followed by an arbitary list
of error handlers (equivalent to the handler list of handleErrors). If the first
input value is a success value then it is returned from handleErrors
unmodified. Otherwise the contained error(s) are passed to handleErrors, along
with the handlers. If handleErrors returns success (indicating that all errors
have been handled) then handleExpected runs the fallback functor and returns its
result. If handleErrors returns a failure value then the failure value is
returned and the fallback functor is never run.

This simplifies the process of re-trying operations that return Expected values.
Without this utility such retry logic is cumbersome as the internal Error must
be explicitly extracted from the Expected value, inspected to see if its
handleable and then consumed:

enum FooStrategy { Aggressive, Conservative };
Expected<Foo> tryFoo(FooStrategy S);

Expected<Foo> Result;
(void)!!Result; // "Check" Result so that it can be safely overwritten.
if (auto ValOrErr = tryFoo(Aggressive))
  Result = std::move(ValOrErr);
else {
  auto Err = ValOrErr.takeError();
  if (Err.isA<HandleableError>()) {
    consumeError(std::move(Err));
    Result = tryFoo(Conservative);
  } else
    return std::move(Err);
}

with handleExpected, this can be re-written as:

auto Result =
  handleExpected(
    tryFoo(Aggressive),
    []() { return tryFoo(Conservative); },
    [](HandleableError&) { /* discard to handle */ });
