Kate Stone b9c1b51e45 *** This commit represents a complete reformatting of the LLDB source code
*** to conform to clang-format’s LLVM style.  This kind of mass change has
*** two obvious implications:

Firstly, merging this particular commit into a downstream fork may be a huge
effort.  Alternatively, it may be worth merging all changes up to this commit,
performing the same reformatting operation locally, and then discarding the
merge for this particular commit.  The commands used to accomplish this
reformatting were as follows (with current working directory as the root of
the repository):

    find . \( -iname "*.c" -or -iname "*.cpp" -or -iname "*.h" -or -iname "*.mm" \) -exec clang-format -i {} +
    find . -iname "*.py" -exec autopep8 --in-place --aggressive --aggressive {} + ;

The version of clang-format used was 3.9.0, and autopep8 was 1.2.4.

Secondly, “blame” style tools will generally point to this commit instead of
a meaningful prior commit.  There are alternatives available that will attempt
to look through this change and find the appropriate prior commit.  YMMV.

Greg Clayton 4a9d83a55e Fix a memory leak in InstructionLLVMC where it held onto a strong reference to the DisassemblerLLVMC which in turn had a vector of InstructionSP causing the strong cycle. This is fixed now.
Rules are as follows for internal code using lldb::DisassemblerSP and lldb::InstructionSP:
1 - The disassembler needs to stay around as long as instructions do as the Instruction subclass now has a weak pointer to the disassembler
2 - The public API has been fixed so that if you get a SBInstruction, it will hold onto a strong reference to the disassembler in a new InstructionImpl class

This will keep code like like: 

inst = lldb.target.ReadInstructions(frame.GetPCAddress(), 1).GetInstructionAtIndex(0)
inst.GetMnemonic()

Working as expected (not the SBInstructionList() that was returned by SBTarget.ReadInstructions() is gone, but "inst" has a strong reference inside of it to the disassembler and the instruction.
                                                     
All code inside the LLDB shared library was verified to correctly hold onto the disassembler instance in all places.

Bhushan D. Attarde df5f0b448c [LLDB][MIPS] A small fix in GetBreakableLoadAddress() for MIPS
SUMMARY:
    Get the load address for the address given by symbol and function.
    Earlier, this was done for function only, this patch does it for symbol too.
    This patch also adds TestAvoidBreakpointInDelaySlot.py to test this change.

Jason Molenda c980fa92eb Change the default disassembly format again. First attempt at
changing it was in r219544 - after living on that for a few 
months, I wanted to take another crack at this.

The disassembly-format setting still exists and the old format
can be user specified with a setting like

${current-pc-arrow}${addr-file-or-load}{ <${function.name-without-args}${function.concrete-only-addr-offset-no-padding}>}:

Greg Clayton 554f68d385 Get rid of Debugger::FormatPrompt() and replace it with the new FormatEntity class.
Why? Debugger::FormatPrompt() would run through the format prompt every time and parse it and emit it piece by piece. It also did formatting differently depending on which key/value pair it was parsing. 

The new code improves on this with the following features:
1 - Allow format strings to be parsed into a FormatEntity::Entry which can contain multiple child FormatEntity::Entry objects. This FormatEntity::Entry is a parsed version of what was previously always done in Debugger::FormatPrompt() so it is more efficient to emit formatted strings using the new parsed FormatEntity::Entry.
2 - Allows errors in format strings to be shown immediately when setting the settings (frame-format, thread-format, disassembly-format
3 - Allows auto completion by implementing a new OptionValueFormatEntity and switching frame-format, thread-format, and disassembly-format settings over to using it.
4 - The FormatEntity::Entry for each of the frame-format, thread-format, disassembly-format settings only replaces the old one if the format parses correctly
5 - Combines all consecutive string values together for efficient output. This means all "${ansi.*}" keys and all desensitized characters like "\n" "\t" "\0721" "\x23" will get combined with their previous strings
6 - ${*.script:} (like "${var.script:mymodule.my_var_function}") have all been switched over to use ${script.*:} "${script.var:mymodule.my_var_function}") to make the format easier to parse as I don't believe anyone was using these format string power user features.
7 - All key values pairs are defined in simple C arrays of entries so it is much easier to add new entries.

These changes pave the way for subsequent modifications where we can modify formats to do more (like control the width of value strings can do more and add more functionality more easily like string formatting to control the width, printf formats and more).

Jason Molenda aff1b357b0 Add a new disassembly-format specification so that the disassembler
output style can be customized.  Change the built-in default to be
more similar to gdb's disassembly formatting.

The disassembly-format for a gdb-like output is

The two backticks in the lldb style formatter triggers the sub-expression evaluation in
CommandInterpreter::PreprocessCommand() so you can't use that one as-is ... changing to
use ' characters instead of ` would work around that.

Jason Molenda b57e4a1bc6 Roll back the changes I made in r193907 which created a new Frame
pure virtual base class and made StackFrame a subclass of that.  As
I started to build on top of that arrangement today, I found that it
wasn't working out like I intended.  Instead I'll try sticking with
the single StackFrame class -- there's too much code duplication to
make a more complicated class hierarchy sensible I think.

Jason Molenda f23bf7432c Add a new base class, Frame. It is a pure virtual function which
defines a protocol that all subclasses will implement.  StackFrame
is currently the only subclass and the methods that Frame vends are
nearly identical to StackFrame's old methods.

Update all callers to use Frame*/Frame& instead of pointers to
StackFrames.

This is almost entirely a mechanical change that touches a lot of
the code base so I'm committing it alone.  No new functionality is
added with this patch, no new subclasses of Frame exist yet.

I'll probably need to tweak some of the separation, possibly moving
some of StackFrame's methods up in to Frame, but this is a good
starting point.

Greg Clayton 1f7460716b <rdar://problem/11757916>
Make breakpoint setting by file and line much more efficient by only looking for inlined breakpoint locations if we are setting a breakpoint in anything but a source implementation file. Implementing this complex for a many reasons. Turns out that parsing compile units lazily had some issues with respect to how we need to do things with DWARF in .o files. So the fixes in the checkin for this makes these changes:
- Add a new setting called "target.inline-breakpoint-strategy" which can be set to "never", "always", or "headers". "never" will never try and set any inlined breakpoints (fastest). "always" always looks for inlined breakpoint locations (slowest, but most accurate). "headers", which is the default setting, will only look for inlined breakpoint locations if the breakpoint is set in what are consudered to be header files, which is realy defined as "not in an implementation source file". 
- modify the breakpoint setting by file and line to check the current "target.inline-breakpoint-strategy" setting and act accordingly
- Modify compile units to be able to get their language and other info lazily. This allows us to create compile units from the debug map and not have to fill all of the details in, and then lazily discover this information as we go on debuggging. This is needed to avoid parsing all .o files when setting breakpoints in implementation only files (no inlines). Otherwise we would need to parse the .o file, the object file (mach-o in our case) and the symbol file (DWARF in the object file) just to see what the compile unit was.
- modify the "SymbolFileDWARFDebugMap" to subclass lldb_private::Module so that the virtual "GetObjectFile()" and "GetSymbolVendor()" functions can be intercepted when the .o file contenst are later lazilly needed. Prior to this fix, when we first instantiated the "SymbolFileDWARFDebugMap" class, we would also make modules, object files and symbol files for every .o file in the debug map because we needed to fix up the sections in the .o files with information that is in the executable debug map. Now we lazily do this in the DebugMapModule::GetObjectFile()

Cleaned up header includes a bit as well.

Greg Clayton ba812f4284 <rdar://problem/11330621>
Fixed the DisassemblerLLVMC disassembler to parse more efficiently instead of parsing opcodes over and over. The InstructionLLVMC class now only reads the opcode in the InstructionLLVMC::Decode function. This can be done very efficiently for ARM and architectures that have fixed opcode sizes. For x64 it still calls the disassembler to get the byte size.

Moved the lldb_private::Instruction::Dump(...) function up into the lldb_private::Instruction class and it now uses the function that gets the mnemonic, operandes and comments so that all disassembly is using the same code.

Added StreamString::FillLastLineToColumn() to allow filling a line up to a column with a character (which is used by the lldb_private::Instruction::Dump(...) function).

Modified the Opcode::GetData() fucntion to "do the right thing" for thumb instructions.

Jim Ingham 10ebffa48a Don't expose the pthread_mutex_t underlying the Mutex & Mutex::Locker classes.
No one was using it and Locker(pthread_mutex_t *) immediately asserts for 
pthread_mutex_t's that don't come from a Mutex anyway.  Rather than try to make
that work, we should maintain the Mutex abstraction and not pass around the
platform implementation...

Make Mutex::Locker::Lock take a Mutex & or a Mutex *, and remove the constructor
taking a pthread_mutex_t *.  You no longer need to call Mutex::GetMutex to pass
your mutex to a Locker (you can't in fact, since I made it private.)

Greg Clayton 37a0a24a5f No functionality changes, mostly cleanup.
Cleaned up the Mutex::Locker and the ReadWriteLock classes a bit.

Also cleaned up the GDBRemoteCommunication class to not have so many packet functions. Used the "NoLock" versions of send/receive packet functions when possible for a bit of performance.

Greg Clayton b9556acc9e SBFrame is now threadsafe using some extra tricks. One issue is that stack
frames might go away (the object itself, not the actual logical frame) when
we are single stepping due to the way we currently sometimes end up flushing
frames when stepping in/out/over. They later will come back to life 
represented by another object yet they have the same StackID. Now when you get
a lldb::SBFrame object, it will track the frame it is initialized with until 
the thread goes away or the StackID no longer exists in the stack for the 
thread it was created on. It uses a weak_ptr to both the frame and thread and
also stores the StackID. These three items allow us to determine when the
stack frame object has gone away (the weak_ptr will be NULL) and allows us to
find the correct frame again. In our test suite we had such cases where we
were just getting lucky when something like this happened:

1 - stop at breakpoint
2 - get first frame in thread where we stopped
3 - run an expression that causes the program to JIT and run code
4 - run more expressions on the frame from step 2 which was very very luckily
    still around inside a shared pointer, yet, not part of the current 
    thread (a new stack frame object had appeared with the same stack ID and
    depth). 
    
We now avoid all such issues and properly keep up to date, or we start 
returning errors when the frame doesn't exist and always responds with
invalid answers.

Also fixed the UserSettingsController  (not going to rewrite this just yet)
so that it doesn't crash on shutdown. Using weak_ptr's came in real handy to
track when the master controller has already gone away and this allowed me to
pull out the previous NotifyOwnerIsShuttingDown() patch as it is no longer 
needed.

Greg Clayton 8f7180b11e Added more functionality to the public API to allow for better
symbolication. Also improved the SBInstruction API to allow
access to the instruction opcode name, mnemonics, comment and
instruction data.

Added the ability to edit SBLineEntry objects (change the file,
line and column), and also allow SBSymbolContext objects to be
modified (set module, comp unit, function, block, line entry
or symbol). 

The SymbolContext and SBSymbolContext can now generate inlined
call stack infomration for symbolication much easier using the
SymbolContext::GetParentInlinedFrameInfo(...) and 
SBSymbolContext::GetParentInlinedFrameInfo(...) methods.

Greg Clayton c14ee32db5 Converted the lldb_private::Process over to use the intrusive
shared pointers.

Changed the ExecutionContext over to use shared pointers for
the target, process, thread and frame since these objects can
easily go away at any time and any object that was holding onto
an ExecutionContext was running the risk of using a bad object.

Now that the shared pointers for target, process, thread and
frame are just a single pointer (they all use the instrusive
shared pointers) the execution context is much safer and still
the same size. 

Made the shared pointers in the the ExecutionContext class protected
and made accessors for all of the various ways to get at the pointers,
references, and shared pointers.

Greg Clayton 2ed751bd47 Changed the emulate instruction function to take emulate options which
are defined as enumerations. Current bits include:

        eEmulateInstructionOptionAutoAdvancePC
        eEmulateInstructionOptionIgnoreConditions

Modified the EmulateInstruction class to have a few more pure virtuals that
can help clients understand how many instructions the emulator can handle:

This allows use to tell what an emulator can do and also allows us to request
these abilities when we are finding the plug-in interface.

Added the ability for an EmulateInstruction class to get the register names
for any registers that are part of the emulation. This helps with being able
to dump and log effectively.

The UnwindAssembly class now stores the architecture it was created with in
case it is needed later in the unwinding process.

Added a function that can tell us DWARF register names for ARM that goes
along with the source/Utility/ARM_DWARF_Registers.h file: 

        source/Utility/ARM_DWARF_Registers.c
        
Took some of plug-ins out of the lldb_private namespace.

Caroline Tice 3ac6711aec Add the infrastructure to test instruction emulations automatically.
The idea is that the instruction to be emulated is actually executed
on the hardware to be emulated, with the before and after state of the
hardware being captured and 'freeze-dried' into .dat files.  The
emulation testing code then loads the before & after state from the
.dat file, emulates the instruction using the before state, and
compares the resulting state to the 'after' state.  If they match, the
emulation is accurate, otherwise there is a problem.

The final format of the .dat files needs a bit more work; the plan is
to generalize them a bit and to convert the plain values to key-value pairs. 
But I wanted to get this first pass committed.

This commit adds arm instruction emulation testing to the testsuite, along with
many initial .dat files.

It also fixes a bug in the llvm disassembler, where 32-bit thumb opcodes
were getting their upper & lower 16-bits reversed.

There is a new Instruction sub-class, that is intended to be loaded
from a .dat file rather than read from an executable.  There is also a
new EmulationStateARM class, for handling the before & after states.
EmulationStates for other architetures can be added later when we
emulate their instructions.

Caroline Tice 25d61ac2ed Fix various things in the instruction emulation code:
- Add ability to control whether or not the emulator advances the
    PC register (in the emulation state), if the instruction itself
    does not change the pc value..

    - Fix a few typos in asm description strings.

    - Fix bug in the carry flag calculation.

Greg Clayton eb0103f2d0 Modified the ArchSpec to take an optional "Platform *" when setting the triple.
This allows you to have a platform selected, then specify a triple using
"i386" and have the remaining triple items (vendor, os, and environment) set
automatically.

Many interpreter commands take the "--arch" option to specify an architecture
triple, so now the command options needed to be able to get to the current
platform, so the Options class now take a reference to the interpreter on
construction.

Modified the build LLVM building in the Xcode project to use the new
Xcode project level user definitions:

LLVM_BUILD_DIR - a path to the llvm build directory
LLVM_SOURCE_DIR - a path to the llvm sources for the llvm that will be used to build lldb
LLVM_CONFIGURATION - the configuration that lldb is built for (Release, 
Release+Asserts, Debug, Debug+Asserts).

I also changed the LLVM build to not check if "lldb/llvm" is a symlink and
then assume it is a real llvm build directory versus the unzipped llvm.zip
package, so now you can actually have a "lldb/llvm" directory in your lldb
sources.

Greg Clayton 357132eb9a Added the ability to get the min and max instruction byte size for
an architecture into ArchSpec:

Added an AddressClass to the Instruction class in Disassembler.h.
This allows decoded instructions to know know if they are code,
code with alternate ISA (thumb), or even data which can be mixed
into code. The instruction does have an address, but it is a good
idea to cache this value so we don't have to look it up more than 
once.

Fixed an issue in Opcode::SetOpcodeBytes() where the length wasn't
getting set.

Changed:

	bool
	SymbolContextList::AppendIfUnique (const SymbolContext& sc);

To:
	bool
	SymbolContextList::AppendIfUnique (const SymbolContext& sc, 
									   bool merge_symbol_into_function);

This function was typically being used when looking up functions
and symbols. Now if you lookup a function, then find the symbol,
they can be merged into the same symbol context and not cause
multiple symbol contexts to appear in a symbol context list that
describes the same function.

Fixed the SymbolContext not equal operator which was causing mixed
mode disassembly to not work ("disassembler --mixed --name main").

Modified the disassembler classes to know about the fact we know,
for a given architecture, what the min and max opcode byte sizes
are. The InstructionList class was modified to return the max
opcode byte size for all of the instructions in its list.
These two fixes means when disassemble a list of instructions and dump 
them and show the opcode bytes, we can format the output more 
intelligently when showing opcode bytes. This affects any architectures
that have varying opcode byte sizes (x86_64 and i386). Knowing the max
opcode byte size also helps us to be able to disassemble N instructions
without having to re-read data if we didn't read enough bytes.

Added the ability to set the architecture for the disassemble command.
This means you can easily cross disassemble data for any supported 
architecture. I also added the ability to specify "thumb" as an 
architecture so that we can force disassembly into thumb mode when
needed. In GDB this was done using a hack of specifying an odd
address when disassembling. I don't want to repeat this hack in LLDB,
so the auto detection between ARM and thumb is failing, just specify
thumb when disassembling:

(lldb) disassemble --arch thumb --name main

You can also have data in say an x86_64 file executable and disassemble
data as any other supported architecture:
% lldb a.out
Current executable set to 'a.out' (x86_64).
(lldb) b main
(lldb) run
(lldb) disassemble --arch thumb --count 2 --start-address 0x0000000100001080 --bytes
0x100001080:  0xb580 push   {r7, lr}
0x100001082:  0xaf00 add    r7, sp, #0

Fixed Target::ReadMemory(...) to be able to deal with Address argument object
that isn't section offset. When an address object was supplied that was
out on the heap or stack, target read memory would fail. Disassembly uses
Target::ReadMemory(...), and the example above where we disassembler thumb
opcodes in an x86 binary was failing do to this bug.

Greg Clayton 1080edbcdd Cleaned up the Disassembler code a bit more. You can now request a disassembler
plugin by name on the command line for when there is more than one disassembler
plugin.

Taught the Opcode class to dump itself so that "disassembler -b" will dump
the bytes correctly for each opcode type. Modified all places that were passing
the opcode bytes buffer in so that the bytes could be displayed to just pass
in a bool that indicates if we should dump the opcode bytes since the opcode
now lives inside llvm_private::Instruction.

Greg Clayton 6611103cfe Very large changes that were needed in order to allow multiple connections
to the debugger from GUI windows. Previously there was one global debugger
instance that could be accessed that had its own command interpreter and
current state (current target/process/thread/frame). When a GUI debugger
was attached, if it opened more than one window that each had a console
window, there were issues where the last one to setup the global debugger
object won and got control of the debugger.

To avoid this we now create instances of the lldb_private::Debugger that each 
has its own state:
- target list for targets the debugger instance owns
- current process/thread/frame
- its own command interpreter
- its own input, output and error file handles to avoid conflicts
- its own input reader stack

So now clients should call:

    SBDebugger::Initialize(); // (static function)

    SBDebugger debugger (SBDebugger::Create());
    // Use which ever file handles you wish
    debugger.SetErrorFileHandle (stderr, false);
    debugger.SetOutputFileHandle (stdout, false);
    debugger.SetInputFileHandle (stdin, true);

    // main loop
    
    SBDebugger::Terminate(); // (static function)
    
SBDebugger::Initialize() and SBDebugger::Terminate() are ref counted to
ensure nothing gets destroyed too early when multiple clients might be
attached.

Cleaned up the command interpreter and the CommandObject and all subclasses
to take more appropriate arguments.
