We have a few sections that can be added implicitly to the output:
".dynsym", ".dynstr", ".symtab", ".strtab" and ".shstrtab".
Problem appears when such section is listed explicitly in YAML.
In that case it's content is written twice:
first time during writing of regular sections listed in the document
and second time during special handling.
Because of that their file offsets can become unexpectedly broken:

Arm Architecture v8.5a introduces Branch Target Identification (BTI). When
enabled all indirect branches must target a bti instruction of the
appropriate form. As PLT sequences may sometimes be the target of an
indirect branch and PLT[0] always is, a static linker may need to generate
PLT sequences that contain "bti c" as the first instruction. In effect:
bti c
adrp x16, page offset to .got.plt
...
Instead of:
adrp x16, page offset to .got.plt
...
At present the PLT decoding assumes the adrp will always be the first
instruction. This patch adds support for a single "bti c" to prefix it. A
test binary has been uploaded with such a PLT sequence. A forthcoming LLD
patch will make heavy use of the PLT decoding code.

One way of using llvm-symbolizer is to interactively within a process
write a line from a parent process to llvm-symbolizer's stdin, and then
read the output, then write the next line, read, etc. This worked as
long as all the lines were good. However, this didn't work prior to this
patch if any of the inputs were bad inputs, because the output is not
flushed after a bad input, meaning the parent process is sat waiting for
output, whilst llvm-symbolizer is sat waiting for input. This patch
flushes the output after every invocation of symbolizeInput when reading
from stdin. It also removes unnecessary flushing when llvm-symbolizer is
not reading addresses from stdin, which should give a slight performance
boost in these situations.

ELF for the 64-bit Arm Architecture defines two processor-specific dynamic
tags:

These presence of these tags indicate that PLT sequences have been
protected using Branch Target Identification and Pointer Authentication
respectively. The presence of both indicates that the PLT sequences have
been protected with both Branch Target Identification and Pointer
Authentication.
This patch adds the tags and tests for llvm-readobj and yaml2obj.
As some of the processor specific dynamic tags overlap, this patch splits
them up, keeping their original default value if they were not previously
mentioned explicitly in a switch case.

ELF for the 64-bit Arm Architecture defines a processor specific property
type GNU_PROPERTY_AARCH64_FEATURE_1_AND as GNU_PROPERTY_LOPROC. This
property works in a similar way to the existing X86 processor specific
property GNU_PROPERTY_GNU_X86_FEATURE_1_AND.
Two feature bits are defined for GNU_PROPERTY_AARCH64_FEATURE_1_AND:

Remove the test checking error message for 'is a directory'. It does
not seem to serve any real purpose, and it relies on matching platform
error strings which are unpredictable and makes the test fragile.
Furthermore, it fails on NetBSD where read() works on directories,
and therefore does not return EISDIR at all.

gnu-sections.test currently use relocs.obj.elf-x86_64 and
relocs.obj.elf-i386 precompiled objects as an inputs.
These inputs actually initially were introduced to test the
dump of relocations and have almost nothing common with dumping
sections.
Patch converts the test to use yaml2obj. That allows to remove
relocs.obj.elf-i386 binary.
(relocs.obj.elf-x86_64 is still used by another test and can't be removed atm).

rL362089 introduced a set of yaml based reloc-types-*.test test cases
(instead of huge reloc-types.test that used a lot of precompiled binaries)
These test cases checks LLVM-styled dumping of the relocations.
gnu-relocations.test was a test case to check GNU styled relocations dumping.
It did that only for elf-x86 and elf-x86_64 targets. It did not test all of the
relocations though.
Now, after rL362089, it does not make sence to keep it.
This patch updates reloc-types-elf-i386.test and reloc-types-elf-x64.test tests
with llvm-readelf calls to check GNU styled output in one place.
It removes gnu-relocations.test completely.
One of intentions of doing this is also to get rid of relocs.obj.elf-i386 and
relocs.obj.elf-x86_64 precompiled objects completely (they are used in other tests still).

Summary:
The tests for r362121 ran dsymutil against a test binary every time.
This caused problems on lld-x86_64-ubuntu-fast as dsymutil required
a lipo tool be available to process those binaries.
This change rewrites the new test cases in macho-disassemble-g-dsym
to use bespoke test binaries (exe and dwarf) simplifying the test's
runtime dependencies.
The changes to tools/llvm-objdump/MachODump.cpp are unchanged from

Summary:
Commonly programmers use llvm-objdump to disassemble Mach-O target
binaries with Mach-O dSYMS. While llvm-objdump allows programmers to
disassemble Universal binaries, it previously did not recognize
Universal dSYM files. This change updates llvm-objdump to support
passing in Universal files via the -dsym option. Now, when
disassembling a Mach-O file either as a stand alone file or as an entry
in a Universal binariy, llvm-objdump will search through a Universal
dSYM for a Mach-O matching the architecture flag of the file being
disassembled.

This change rewrites and splits reloc-types.test
to use yaml2obj instead of precompiled binaries.
That allowed to remove 7 precompiled objects from the inputs.
I took the existent objects, used obj2yaml on them, simplified the result and
used yaml2obj in the test case with the result.
Notes:
* I converted, but did not remove relocs.obj.elf-i386, relocs.obj.elf-x86_64 or relocs.obj.elf-mips objects
because found they are used in other tests.
* I was unable to convert relocs.obj.elf-ppc64, because obj2yaml hangs on this file for me.
* I was unable to convert relocs.obj.macho-arm, relocs.obj.macho-i386 and relocs.obj.macho-x86_64
because the output produced by obj2yaml does not seem to be correct.
* Because of the above I did not remove the script for creating all
of those objects: test\tools\llvm-readobj\Inputs\relocs.py

uses --implicit-check-not to verify that certain patterns do not occur
in llvm-objdump's output, except in places where they are explicitly
checked. Unfortunately, the patterns are generic enough that they may
be part of the file name which is also output by llvm-objdump. This
change matches the line with the filename explicitly so that the
implicit patterns are not applied to it.

This fixes PR41886: llvm-objdump -d -r -j .text doesn't show inline relocations of .text
While here, switch to stable_sort() because we don't want to change the order of relocations applied to the same location. gABI says consecutive relocation records are composed together and their order matters. In practise it is difficult to see relocations applied to the same location not consecutive, we just have to keep the relative order of relocations with the same offset.

from its PT_DYNAMIC segment only. GNU tools have a bit different logic.

When a LLVM binary such as llvm-*-fuzzer is built with libc++, it has dependency on libc++. The path to find shared libraries specified in llvm-*-fuzzer is relative. As a result, these binaries cannot be copied to an arbitrary directory and launched from there. Changes in this patch add a LIT feature to indicate that libc++ is used to build and, based on the feature exclude test cases that test by copying llvm-*-fuzzer binaries to a directory.

Previously, the test didn't work because '\' characters appeared in the
sed string, causing bogus escape characters to form in the substituted
string literal. Switching to using '%/p' causes the path to be emitted

Summary:
We hit undefined references building with ThinLTO when one source file
contained explicit instantiations of a template method (weak_odr) but
there were also implicit instantiations in another file (linkonce_odr),
and the latter was the prevailing copy. In this case the symbol was
marked hidden when the prevailing linkonce_odr copy was promoted to
weak_odr. It led to unsats when the resulting shared library was linked
with other code that contained a reference (expecting to be resolved due
to the explicit instantiation).
Add a CanAutoHide flag to the GV summary to allow the thin link to
identify when all copies are eligible for auto-hiding (because they were
all originally linkonce_odr global unnamed addr), and only do the
auto-hide in that case.
Most of the changes here are due to plumbing the new flag through the
bitcode and llvm assembly, and resulting test changes. I augmented the
existing auto-hide test to check for this situation.

Regions can now nest/overlap provided that they have different names.
Anonymous regions cannot overlap.
Region end markers must specify the region name. The only exception is for when
there is only one user-defined region; in that particular case, the region end
marker doesn't need to specify a name.
Incorrect region end markers are no longer ignored. Instead, the tool reports an
error and we exit with an error code.
Added test cases to verify the new diagnostic error messages.
Updated the llvm-mca docs to reflect this feature change.

The implementation is a pretty straightforward extension of the pattern
used for (de)serializing the ModuleList stream. Since there are other

I've started this cleanup more several times now, but got sidetracked
elsewhere, e.g. by llvm-exegesis problems. Not this time, finally!
This is mainly cleaning up the inverse throughput values,
and a few latencies/uops, based on the llvm-exegesis measured values.
Though this is not complete by any means,
there's certainly more cleanup to be done.
The performance numbers (i've only checked by RawSpeed benchmark) aren't
really surprising - overall this *slightly* (< -1%) improves perf.

The VOP3 form should always be the preferred selection, to be shrunk
later. This should only be an optimization issue, but this partially
works around a problem from clobbering VCC when SIFixSGPRCopies
rewrites an SCC defining operation directly to VCC.
3 of the testcases are regressions from failing to fold the immediate
in cases it should. These can be avoided by improving the VCC liveness
handling in SIFoldOperands. Simply increasing the threshold to
computeRegisterLiveness works, although this is common enough that VCC
liveness should probably be tracked throughout the pass. The hack of
leaving behind an implicit_def instruction to avoid breaking iterator
wastes instruction count, which inhibits finding the VCC def in long
chains of adds. Doing this however exposes different, worse looking
regressions from poor scheduling behavior. This could probably be
avoided around by forcing the shrink of the addc here, but the
scheduler should probably be fixed.
The r600 add test needs to be split out because it asserts on the
arguments in the new test during the calling convention lowering.

We require d/q suffixes on the memory form of these instructions to disambiguate the memory size.
We don't require it on the register forms, but need to support parsing both with and without it.
Previously we always printed the d/q suffix on the register forms, but it's redundant and
inconsistent with gcc and objdump.
After this patch we should support the d/q for parsing, but not print it when its unneeded.

If certain switches are not specified, llvm-strip behaves as if
--strip-all were specified. This means that for testing, when we don't
want the stripping behaviour, we have to specify one of these switches,
which can be confusing. This change adds --no-strip-all to allow an
alternative way of suppressing the default stripping, in a less
confusing manner.

We use both -long-option and --long-option in tests. Switch to --long-option for consistency.
In the "llvm-readelf" mode, -long-option is discouraged as it conflicts with grouped short options and it is not accepted by GNU readelf.
While updating the tests, change llvm-readobj -s to llvm-readobj -S to reduce confusion ("s" is --section-headers in llvm-readobj but --symbols in llvm-readelf).

I suggest we just ignore this clause and follow the common case
behavior, which is done in this patch. Rationales to do so:
If --set-section-flags is a no-op (osec->flags == isec->flags)

objcopy will require (Sec.Flags & ELF::SHF_ALLOC). [a] is essentially:
Flags & (SectionFlag::SecContents | SectionFlag::SecLoad)
This special case is not really useful. Non-SHF_ALLOC SHT_NOBITS
sections do not make much sense and it doesn't matter if they are
SHT_NOBITS or SHT_PROGBITS.

This patch extends the `-bb` option to be able to use the group
extraction feature from the BlockExtractor.
In particular, `-bb=func:bb` is modified to support a list of basic
blocks per function: `-bb=func:bb1[;bb2...]` that will be extracted

X86/weak.test: 'v' was not tested
X86/init-fini.test: symbol types of __bss_start _edata _end were wrong
GNU nm reports __init_array_start as 't', and __preinit_array_start as 'd'.
__init_array_start is 't' just because its section ".init_array" starts with ".init"
'd' makes more sense and allows us to drop the weird SHT_INIT_ARRAY rule.
So, change __init_array_start to 'd' instead.

Summary:
llvm-{objcopy,strip} (and many other LLVM binary utilities) accept
cl::opt style -long-option as well as many short options (e.g. -p -S
-x). People who use them as replacement of GNU binutils often use the
grouped option syntax (POSIX Utility Conventions), e.g. -Sx => -S -x,
-Wd => -W -d, -sj.text => -s -j.text
There is ambiguity if a long option starts with the character used by a
short option. Drop the support for -long-option to resolve the ambiguity.
This divergence from other utilities is accepted (other utilities
continue supporting -long-option).

yaml2obj might crash on invalid input when unable to parse the YAML.
Recently a crash with a very similar nature was fixed for an empty files.
This patch revisits the fix and does it in yaml::Input instead.
It seems to be more correct way to handle such situation.

If two .res files contain the same resource, cvtres.exe (and hence
link.exe) reject the input with this message:
CVTRES : fatal error CVT1100: duplicate resource. type:STRING, name:101, language:0x0409
LINK : fatal error LNK1123: failure during conversion to COFF: file invalid or corrupt
llvm-cvtres (and lld-link) used to silently pick one of the duplicate
resources instead. This patch makes them report an error as well.
We slightly improve on cvtres by printing the name of two .res files
containing duplicate entries as well.

Summary:
The opt level was not being passed down to the ThinLTO backend when
invoked via clang (for distributed ThinLTO).
This exposed an issue where the new PM was asserting if the Thin or
regular LTO backend pipelines were invoked with -O0 (not a new issue,
could be provoked by invoking in-process *LTO backends via linker using
new PM and -O0). Fix this similar to the old PM where -O0 only does the
necessary lowering of type metadata (WPD and LowerTypeTest passes) and
then quits, rather than asserting.

When a Swift module built with debug info imports a library without
debug info from a textual interface, the textual interface is
necessary to reconstruct types defined in the library's interface. By
recording the Swift interface files in DWARF dsymutil can collect them
and LLDB can find them.
This patch teaches dsymutil to look for DW_TAG_imported_modules and
records all references to parseable Swift ingterfrace files and copies
them to
a.out.dSYM/Contents/Resources/<Arch>/<ModuleName>.swiftinterface

Another attempt to land the changes in debug line header to prevent duplicate
files in Dwarf 5. I rolled back my previous commit because of a mistake in
generating the object file in a test. Meanwhile, I addressed some offline
comments and changed the implementation; the largest difference is that
MCDwarfLineTableHeader does not keep DwarfVersion but gets it as a parameter. I
also merged the patch to fix two lld tests that will strt to fail into this
patch.

Motivation: In previous dwarf versions, file name indexes started from 1, and
the primary source file was not explicit. Dwarf 5 standard (6.2.4) prescribes
the primary source file to be explicitly given an entry with an index number 0.
The current implementation honors the specification by just duplicating the
main source file, once with index number 0, and later maybe with another
index number. While this is compliant with the letter of the standard, the
duplication causes problems for consumers of this information such as lldb.
(Some files are duplicated, where only some of them have a line table although
all refer to the same file)
With this change, dwarf 5 debug line section files always start from 0, and
the zeroth entry is not duplicated whenever possible. This requires different
handling of dwarf 4 and dwarf 5 during generation (e.g. when a function returns
an index zero for a file name, it signals an error in dwarf 4, but not in dwarf
5) However, I think the minor complication is worth it, because it enables all
consumers (lldb, gdb, dwarfdump, objdump, and so on) to treat all files in the
file name list homogenously.

Summary:
This patch adds support for yaml (de)serialization of the minidump
ModuleList stream. It's a fairly straight forward-application of the
existing patterns to the ModuleList structures defined in previous
patches.
One thing, which may be interesting to call out explicitly is the
addition of "new" allocation functions to the helper BlobAllocator
class. The reason for this was, that there was an emerging pattern of a
need to allocate space for entities, which do not have a suitable
lifetime for use with the existing allocation functions. A typical
example of that was the "size" of various lists, which is only available
as a temporary returned by the .size() method of some container. For
these cases, one can use the new set of allocation functions, which
will take a temporary object, and store it in an allocator-managed
buffer until it is written to disk.

.rela.dyn is a section that has sh_info normally
set to zero. And Info is an optional field in the description
of the relocation section in YAML.
But currently, yaml2obj would fail to produce the object when

llvm-objcopy currently emits an error if a section to be removed is
referenced by another section. This is a reasonable thing to do, but is
different to GNU objcopy. We should allow users who know what they are
doing to have a way to produce the invalid ELF. This change adds a new
switch --allow-broken-links to both llvm-strip and llvm-objcopy to do
precisely that. The corresponding sh_link field is then set to 0 instead
of an error being emitted.
I cannot use llvm-readelf/readobj to test the link fields because they
emit an error if any sections, like the .dynsym, cannot be properly
loaded.

This change takes the full list of bfd targets that lld supports (see `ScriptParser.cpp`), including generic handling for `*-freebsd` targets (which uses the same settings but with a FreeBSD OSABI). In particular this adds mips support for `--output-target` (but not yet via `--binary-architecture`).
lld and llvm-objcopy use their own different custom data structures, so I'd prefer to check this in as-is (add support directly in llvm-objcopy, including all the test coverage) and do a separate NFC patch(s) that consolidate the two by putting this mapping into libobject.

Summary:
A *lot* of instructions have this special register.
It seems this never really worked, but i finally noticed it only
because it happened to break for `CMOV16rm` instruction.
We serialized that register as "" (empty string), which is naturally
'ignored' during deserialization, so we re-create a `MCInst` with
too few operands.
And when we then happened to try to resolve variant sched class
for this mis-serialized instruction, and the variant predicate
tried to read an operand that was out of bounds since we got less operands,
we crashed.

Make DW_LNS_copy set the discriminator register to 0, to conform to
DWARF 4 & 5: "Then it sets the discriminator register to 0, and sets the
basic_block, prologue_end and epilogue_begin registers to false."
Because all of DW_LNE_end_sequence, DN_LNS_copy, and special opcodes reset
discriminator to 0, we can move discriminator=0 to appendRowToMatrix.
Also, make DW_LNS_copy print before appending the row, as it is similar
to a address+=0,line+=0 special opcode, which prints before appending
the row.

Many of our instructions have both a _Int form used by intrinsics and a form
used by other IR constructs. In the EVEX space the _Int versions usually cover
all the capabilities include broadcasting and rounding. While the other version
only covers simple register/register or register/load forms. For this reason
in EVEX, the non intrinsic form is usually marked isCodeGenOnly=1.
In the VEX encoding space we were less consistent, but usually the _Int version
was the isCodeGenOnly version.
This commit makes the VEX instructions match the EVEX instructions. This was
done by manually studying the AsmMatcher table so its possible I missed some
cases, but we should be closer now.
I'm thinking about using the isCodeGenOnly bit to simplify the EVEX2VEX
tablegen code that disambiguates the _Int and non _Int versions. Currently it
checks register class sizes and Record the memory operands come from. I have
some other changes I was looking into for D59266 that may break the memory check.
I had to make a few scheduler hacks to keep the _Int versions from being treated
differently than the non _Int version.

Summary:
Strings in minidump files are stored as a 32-bit length field, giving
the length of the string in *bytes*, which is followed by the
appropriate number of UTF16 code units. The string is also supposed to
be null-terminated, and the null-terminator is not a part of the length
field. This patch:
- adds support for reading these strings out of the minidump file (this
implementation does not depend on proper null-termination)
- adds support for writing them to a minidump file
- using the previous two pieces implements proper (de)serialization of
the CSDVersion field of the SystemInfo stream. Previously, this was
only read/written as hex, and no attempt was made to access the
referenced string -- now this string is read and written correctly.
The changes are tested via yaml2obj|obj2yaml round-trip as well as a
unit test which checks the corner cases of the string deserialization
logic.

I.e. symbols are grouped by their bindings. That is not very convenient,
because:
It does not allow to set a custom binding, what can be useful for producing
broken/special outputs for test cases. Adding a new binding would require to
change a syntax (what we observed when added GNUUnique recently).
It does not allow to change the order of the symbols in .symtab/.dynsym,
i.e. currently all Local symbols are placed first, then Global, Weak and GNUUnique
are following, but we are not able to change the order.
It is not consistent. Binding is just one of the properties of the symbol,
we do not group them by other properties.
It makes the code more complex that it can be. This patch shows it can be simplified
with the change performed.
The patch changes the syntax to just:

With that, we are able to work with the binding field just like with any other symbol property.

it could always read a section header string table. This isn't the case
when the sections were previously all stripped, and the e_shstrndx field
was set to 0. This patch fixes this. It also fixes a double space in an
error message relating to this issue, and prevents llvm-objcopy from
adding extra space for non-existent section headers, meaning that
--strip-sections on the output of a previous --strip-sections run
produces identical output, simplifying the test.

This patch adds an experimental stage named MicroOpQueueStage.
MicroOpQueueStage can be used to simulate a hardware micro-op queue (basically,
a decoupling queue between 'decode' and 'dispatch'). Users can specify a queue
size, as well as a optional MaxIPC (which - in the absence of a "Decoders" stage
- can be used to simulate a different throughput from the decoders).
This stage is added to the default pipeline between the EntryStage and the
DispatchStage only if PipelineOption::MicroOpQueue is different than zero. By
default, llvm-mca sets PipelineOption::MicroOpQueue to the value of hidden flag
-micro-op-queue-size.
Throughput from the decoder can be simulated via another hidden flag named
-decoder-throughput. That flag allows us to quickly experiment with different
frontend throughputs. For targets that declare a loop buffer, flag
-decoder-throughput allows users to do multiple runs, each time simulating a
different throughput from the decoders.
This stage can/will be extended in future. For example, we could add a "buffer
full" event to notify bottlenecks caused by backpressure. flag
-decoder-throughput would probably go away if in future we delegate to another
stage (DecoderStage?) the simulation of a (potentially variable) throughput from
the decoders. For now, flag -decoder-throughput is "good enough" to run some
simple experiments.

Based on llvm-exegesis measurements.
Now that llvm-exegesis is ~2 magnitudes faster, and is a bit smarter,
it is now possible to continue cleanup of the scheduler model.
With this, there are no more latency inconsistencies for the
opcodes that produce stable measurements, and only a few inconsistencies
for unstable measurements (MMX_* opcodes, opcodes that llvm-exegesis
measures by chaining - CMP, TEST, BT, SETcc, CVT, MOV, etc.)

Summary:
This is an alternative to D59539.
Let's suppose we have measured 4 different opcodes, and got: `0.5`, `1.0`, `1.5`, `2.0`.
Let's suppose we are using `-analysis-clustering-epsilon=0.5`.
By default now we will start processing the `0.5` point, find that `1.0` is it's neighbor, add them to a new cluster.
Then we will notice that `1.5` is a neighbor of `1.0` and add it to that same cluster.
Then we will notice that `2.0` is a neighbor of `1.5` and add it to that same cluster.
So all these points ended up in the same cluster.
This may or may not be a correct implementation of dbscan clustering algorithm.
But this is rather horribly broken for the reasons of comparing the clusters with the LLVM sched data.
Let's suppose all those opcodes are currently in the same sched cluster.
If i specify `-analysis-inconsistency-epsilon=0.5`, then no matter
the LLVM values this cluster will **never** match the LLVM values,
and thus this cluster will **always** be displayed as inconsistent.
The solution is obviously to split off some of these opcodes into different sched cluster.
But how do i do that? Out of 4 opcodes displayed in the inconsistency report,
which ones are the "bad ones"? Which ones are the most different from the checked-in data?
I'd need to go in to the `.yaml` and look it up manually.
The trivial solution is to, when creating clusters, don't use the full dbscan algorithm,
but instead "pick some unclustered point, pick all unclustered points that are it's neighbor,
put them all into a new cluster, repeat". And just so as it happens, we can arrive
at that algorithm by not performing the "add neighbors of a neighbor to the cluster" step.
But that won't work well once we teach analyze mode to operate in on-1D mode
(i.e. on more than a single measurement type at a time), because the clustering would
depend on the order of the measurements.
Instead, let's just create a single cluster per opcode, and put all the points of that opcode into said cluster.
And simultaneously check that every point in that cluster is a neighbor of every other point in the cluster,
and if they are not, the cluster (==opcode) is unstable.
This is //yet another// step to bring me closer to being able to continue cleanup of bdver2 sched model..

However, I think the minor complication is worth it, because it enables all
consumers (lldb, gdb, dwarfdump, objdump, and so on) to treat all files in the

llvm-objcopy previously knew nothing about data in segments that wasn't
covered by section headers, meaning that it wrote zeroes instead of what
was there. As it is possible for this data to be useful to the loader,
this patch causes llvm-objcopy to start preserving this data. Data in
sections that are explicitly removed continues to be written as zeroes.

This patch fixes the reason of ubsan failure (UB detected)

Problem is the following. Our implementation of GroupSection assumes that
its address is 4 bytes aligned when writes it:

Summary:
This patch adds the ability to read a yaml form of a minidump file and
write it out as binary. Apart from the minidump header and the stream
directory, only three basic stream kinds are supported:
- Text: This kind is used for streams which contain textual data. This
is typically the contents of a /proc file on linux (e.g.
/proc/PID/maps). In this case, we just put the raw stream contents
into the yaml.
- SystemInfo: This stream contains various bits of information about the
host system in binary form. We expose the data in a structured form.
- Raw: This kind is used as a fallback when we don't have any special
knowledge about the stream. In this case, we just print the stream
contents in hex.
For this code to be really useful, more stream kinds will need to be
added (particularly for things like lists of memory regions and loaded
modules). However, these can be added incrementally.

Spec says about the first symbol table entry that index 0 both designates the first entry in the table
and serves as the undefined symbol index. It should have zero value.
Hence the first symbol table entry has no name. And so has to have a st_name == 0.

Currently, we do not emit zero value for the first symbol table entry.
That happens because we add empty strings to the string builder, which
for each such case adds a zero byte:

GNU objcopy can support output formats like elf32-i386-freebsd and
elf64-x86-64-freebsd. The only difference from their regular non-freebsd
counterparts that I have observed is that the freebsd versions set the
OS/ABI field to ELFOSABI_FREEBSD. This patch sets the OS/ABI field
according based on the format whenever --output-format is specified.

Summary:
llvm-objdump (via libObject) validates DYLD_INFO rebase and bind
entries against the basic structure found in the Mach-O file before
evaluating the contents of those entries. Certain malformed Mach-Os can
defeat the validation check and force llvm-objdump (libObject) to crash.
The previous logic verified a rebase or bind started in a valid Mach-O
section, but did not verify that the section wholely contained the
fixup. It also generally allows rebases or binds to start immediately
after a valid section even if that range is not itself part of a valid
section. Finally, bind and rebase opcodes that indicate more than one
fixup (apply N times...) are not completely validated: only the first
and final fixups are checked.
The previous logic also rejected certain binaries as false positives.
Some bind and rebase opcodes can modify the state machine such that the
next bind or rebase will fail. libObject will reject these opcodes as
invalid in order to be helpful and print an error message associated
with the instruction that caused the problem, even though the binary is
not actually illegal until it consumes the invalid state in the state
machine. In other words, libObject may reject a Mach-O binary that
Apple's dynamic linker may consider legal. The original version of
macho-rebase-add-addr-uleb-too-big is an example of such a binary.
I have replaced the existing checkSegAndOffset and checkCountAndSkip
functions with a single function, checkSegAndOffsets, which validates
all of the fixups realized by a DYLD_INFO opcode. checkSegAndOffsets
verifies that a Mach-O section fully contains each fixup. Every fixup
realized by an opcode is validated, and some (but not all!)
inconsistencies in the state machine are allowed until a fixup is
realized. This means that libObject may fail on an opcode that realizes
a fixup, not on the opcode that introduced the arithmetic error.
Existing test cases have been modified to reflect the changes in error
messages returned by libObject. What's more, the test case for
macho-rebase-add-addr-uleb-too-big has been modified so that it actually
triggers the error condition; the new code in libObject considers the
original test binary "legal".

Previously we had a regular form of the instruction used when the immediate was 0-7. And _alt form that allowed the full 8 bit immediate. Codegen would always use the 0-7 form since the immediate was always checked to be in range. Assembly parsing would use the 0-7 form when a mnemonic like vpcomtrueb was used. If the immediate was specified directly the _alt form was used. The disassembler would prefer to use the 0-7 form instruction when the immediate was in range and the _alt form otherwise. This way disassembly would print the most readable form when possible.
The assembly parsing for things like vpcomtrueb relied on splitting the mnemonic into 3 pieces. A "vpcom" prefix, an immediate representing the "true", and a suffix of "b". The tablegenerated printing code would similarly print a "vpcom" prefix, decode the immediate into a string, and then print "b".
The _alt form on the other hand parsed and printed like any other instruction with no specialness.
With this patch we drop to one form and solve the disassembly printing issue by doing custom printing when the immediate is 0-7. The parsing code has been tweaked to turn "vpcomtrueb" into "vpcomb" and then the immediate for the "true" is inserted either before or after the other operands depending on at&t or intel syntax.
I'd rather not do the custom printing, but I tried using an InstAlias for each possible mnemonic for all 8 immediates for all 16 combinations of element size, signedness, and memory/register. The code emitted into printAliasInstr ended up checking the number of operands, the register class of each operand, and the immediate for all 256 aliases. This was repeated for both the at&t and intel printer. Despite a lot of common checks between all of the aliases, when compiled with clang at least this commonality was not well optimized. Nor do all the checks seem necessary. Since I want to do a similar thing for vcmpps/pd/ss/sd which have 32 immediate values and 3 encoding flavors, 3 register sizes, etc. This didn't seem to scale well for clang binary size. So custom printing seemed a better trade off.
I also considered just using the InstAlias for the matching and not the printing. But that seemed like it would add a lot of extra rows to the matcher table. Especially given that the 32 immediates for vpcmpps have 46 strings associated with them.

This patch changes llvm-objcopy's behaviour to not strip sections that
are in segments, if they otherwise would be due to a stripping operation
(--strip-all, --strip-sections, --strip-non-alloc). This preserves the
segment contents. It does not change the behaviour of --strip-all-gnu
(although we could choose to do so), because GNU objcopy's behaviour in
this case seems to be to strip the section, nor does it prevent removing
of sections in segments with --remove-section (if a user REALLY wants to
remove a section, we should probably let them, although I could be
persuaded that warning might be appropriate). Tests have been added to
show this latter behaviour.

This patch changes llvm-objcopy's behaviour to not strip sections that
are in segments, if they otherwise would be due to a stripping operation
(--strip-all, --strip-sections, --strip-non-alloc). This preserves the
segment contents. It does not change the behaviour of --strip-all-gnu
(although we could choose to do so), because GNU objcopy's behaviour in
this case seems to be to strip the section, nor does it prevent removing
of sections in segments with --remove-section (if a user REALLY wants to
remove a section, we should probably let them, although I could be
persuaded that warning might be appropriate). Tests have been added to
show this latter behaviour.

Add break statements in Object/ELF.cpp since the code should consider the
generic tags for Hexagon, MIPS, and PPC. Add a test (copied from llvm-readobj)
to show that this works correctly (earlier versions of this patch would have
asserted).
The warnings in X86ELFObjectWriter.cpp are actually false-positives since
the nested switch() handles all possible values and returns in all cases.
Make this explicit by adding llvm_unreachable's.

Prior to this change, the "Symbol" field of a relocation would always be
assumed to be a symbol name, and if no such symbol existed, the
relocation would reference index 0. This confused me when I tried to use
a literal symbol index in the field: since "0x1" was not a known symbol
name, the symbol index was set as 0. This change falls back to treating
unknown symbol names as integers, and emits an error if the name is not
found and the string is not an integer.
Note that the Symbol field is optional, so if a relocation doesn't
reference a symbol, it shouldn't be specified. The new error required a
number of test updates.

I recently discovered a bug in llvm-cxxfilt introduced in r353743 but
was fixed later incidentally due to r355031. Specifically, llvm-cxxfilt
was attempting to call .back() on an empty string any time there was a
new line in the input. This was causing a crash in my debug builds only.
This patch simply adds a test that explicitly tests that llvm-cxxfilt
handles empty lines correctly. It may pass under release builds under
the broken behaviour, but it fails at least in debug builds.

Summary:
llvm-objdump can be tricked into reading beyond valid memory and
segfaulting if LC_LINKER_COMMAND strings are not null terminated. libObject
does have code to validate the integrity of the LC_LINKER_COMMAND struct,
but this validator improperly assumes linker command strings are null
terminated.
The solution is to report an error if a string extends beyond the end of
the LC_LINKER_COMMAND struct.

When --compress-debug-sections is given,
llvm-objcopy removes the uncompressed sections and adds compressed to the section list.
This makes all the pointers to old sections to be outdated.
Currently, code already has logic for replacing the target sections of the relocation
sections. But we also have to update the relocations by themselves.

llvm-readelf prints relocation addends as:
<symbol value>[+-]<absolute addend>
where [+-] is determined from whether addend is less than zero or not.
However, it does not print the +/- if there is no symbol, which meant
that negative addends became their positive value with no indication
that this had happened. This patch stops the absolute conversion when
addends are negative and there is no associated symbol.

Rotate with explicit immediate is a single uop from Haswell on. An immediate of 1 has a dependency on the previous writer of flags, but the other immediate values do not.
The implicit rotate by 1 instruction is 2 uops. But the flags are merged after the rotate uop so the data result does not see the flag dependency. But I don't think we have any way of modeling that.
RORX is 1 uop without the load. 2 uops with the load. We currently model these with WriteShift/WriteShiftLd.

Haswell and possibly Sandybridge have an optimization for ADC/SBB with immediate 0 to use a single uop flow. This only applies GR16/GR32/GR64 with an 8-bit immediate. It does not apply to GR8. It also does not apply to the implicit AX/EAX/RAX forms.

Change the format type of *Personality and *LSDAAddress to PRIx64 since

When dumping ToT clan's debug info with dwarfdump, we were seeing an
error saying that that the location list overflows the debug_loc
section. After reducing the testcase we figured out that we were
interpreting the DW_FORM_data4 as a section offset.
In DWARF3 DW_FORM_data4 and DW_FORM_data8 served also as a section
offset. Until now we didn't check check for the DWARF version, because
some producers (read old versions of clang) were still emitting this.
The relevant code/comment was added in 2013, and I believe it's now
reasonable to start checking the version.
The FormValue class is a little bit of a mess because it cashes the
DWARF unit and context when it extracted the value itself. Several
methods of the class rely on it being present, or return an Optional for
the code path that needs it. At the same time the FormValue class also
used in places where there's no DWARF unit.
For this patch I went with the least invasive change: checking the
version from the CU when it's available. If it's not (because the form
value was created from a value directly) we default to the old behavior.

When --compress-debug-sections is given, llvm-objcopy do not compress
sections that have "ZLIB" header in data. Normally this signature is used
in zlib-gnu compression format. But if zlib-gnu used then the name of the compressed
section should start from .z* (e.g .zdebug_info). If it does not, then it is not
a zlib-gnu format and section should be treated as a normal uncompressed section.

This patch adds a new flag named -bottleneck-analysis to print out information
about throughput bottlenecks.
MCA knows how to identify and classify dynamic dispatch stalls. However, it
doesn't know how to analyze and highlight kernel bottlenecks. The goal of this
patch is to teach MCA how to correlate increases in backend pressure to backend
stalls (and therefore, the loss of throughput).
From a Scheduler point of view, backend pressure is a function of the scheduler
buffer usage (i.e. how the number of uOps in the scheduler buffers changes over
time). Backend pressure increases (or decreases) when there is a mismatch
between the number of opcodes dispatched, and the number of opcodes issued in
the same cycle. Since buffer resources are limited, continuous increases in
backend pressure would eventually leads to dispatch stalls. So, there is a
strong correlation between dispatch stalls, and how backpressure changed over
time.
This patch teaches how to identify situations where backend pressure increases
due to:
- unavailable pipeline resources.
- data dependencies.
Data dependencies may delay execution of instructions and therefore increase the
time that uOps have to spend in the scheduler buffers. That often translates to
an increase in backend pressure which may eventually lead to a bottleneck.
Contention on pipeline resources may also delay execution of instructions, and
lead to a temporary increase in backend pressure.
Internally, the Scheduler classifies instructions based on whether register /
memory operands are available or not.
An instruction is marked as "ready to execute" only if data dependencies are
fully resolved.
Every cycle, the Scheduler attempts to execute all instructions that are ready
to execute. If an instruction cannot execute because of unavailable pipeline
resources, then the Scheduler internally updates a BusyResourceUnits mask with
the ID of each unavailable resource.
ExecuteStage is responsible for tracking changes in backend pressure. If backend
pressure increases during a cycle because of contention on pipeline resources,
then ExecuteStage sends a "backend pressure" event to the listeners.
That event would contain information about instructions delayed by resource
pressure, as well as the BusyResourceUnits mask.
Note that ExecuteStage also knows how to identify situations where backpressure
increased because of delays introduced by data dependencies.
The SummaryView observes "backend pressure" events and prints out a "bottleneck
report".

A bottleneck report is printed out only if increases in backend pressure
eventually caused backend stalls.
About the time complexity:
Time complexity is linear in the number of instructions in the
Scheduler::PendingSet.
The average slowdown tends to be in the range of ~5-6%.
For memory intensive kernels, the slowdown can be significant if flag
-noalias=false is specified. In the worst case scenario I have observed a
slowdown of ~30% when flag -noalias=false was specified.
We can definitely recover part of that slowdown if we optimize class LSUnit (by
doing extra bookkeeping to speedup queries). For now, this new analysis is
disabled by default, and it can be enabled via flag -bottleneck-analysis. Users
of MCA as a library can enable the generation of pressure events through the
constructor of ExecuteStage.
