In C mode, if we have a visible declaration but not a visible definition, a tag
defined in the declaration should be have a visible definition. In C++ we rely
on the ODR merging, whereas in C we cannot because each declaration of a

The attempt to fix requoting behavior in r280487 after changes to
tooling::Replacements are incomplete. We essentially need to add to
replacements at the same position, one to insert a line break and one to
change the quoting and that's incompatible with the new
tooling::Replacement API, which does not allow for order-dependent
Replacements. To make the order clear, Replacements::merge() has to be
used, but that requires the merged Replacement to actually refer to the
changed text, which is hard to reproduce for the requoting.
This change fixes the behavior by moving the requoting to a completely
separate pass. The added benefit is that no weird ColumnWidth
calculations are necessary anymore and this should just work even if we
implement string literal splitting in the future.
llvm-svn: 280874
r280553 introduced an issue where we'd emit ambiguity errors for code
like:
```
void foo(int *, int);
void foo(unsigned int *, unsigned int);
void callFoo() {
unsigned int i;
foo(&i, 0); // ambiguous: int->unsigned int is worse than int->int,
// but unsigned int*->unsigned int* is better than
// int*->int*.
}
```
This patch fixes this issue by changing how we handle ill-formed (but
valid) implicit conversions. Candidates with said conversions now always
rank worse than candidates without them, and two candidates are
considered to be equally bad if they both have these conversions for
the same argument.
Additionally, this fixes a case in C++11 where we'd complain about an
ambiguity in a case like:
```
void f(char *, int);
void f(const char *, unsigned);
void g() { f("abc", 0); }
```
...Since conversion to char* from a string literal is considered
ill-formed in C++11 (and deprecated in C++03), but we accept it as an
extension.

There is a bug causing pch to be validated even though -fno-validate-pch is set. This patch fixes it.
ASTReader relies on ASTReaderListener to initialize SuggestedPredefines, which is required for compilations using PCH. Before this change, PCHValidator is the default ASTReaderListener. After this change, when -fno-validate-pch is set, PCHValidator is disabled, but we need a replacement ASTReaderListener to initialize SuggestedPredefines. Class SimpleASTReaderListener is implemented for this purpose.
This change only affects -fno-validate-pch. There is no functional change if -fno-validate-pch is not set.
If -fno-validate-pch is not set, conflicts in predefined macros between pch and current compiler instance causes error.
If -fno-validate-pch is set, predefine macros in current compiler override those in pch so that compilation can continue.

If the virtual method comes from a secondary vtable, then the type of
the 'this' parameter should be i8*, and not a pointer to the complete
class. In the MS ABI, the 'this' parameter on entry points to the vptr
containing the virtual method that was called, so we use i8* instead of
the normal type. We had a mismatch where the CGFunctionInfo of the call
didn't match the CGFunctionInfo of the declaration, and this resulted in
some assertions, but now both sides agree the type of 'this' is i8*.

copy-initialization. We previously got this wrong in a couple of ways:
- we only looked for copy / move constructors and constructor templates for
this copy, and thus would fail to copy in cases where doing so should use
some other constructor (but see core issue 670),
- we mishandled the special case for disabling user-defined conversions that
blocks infinite recursion through repeated application of a copy constructor
(applying it in slightly too many cases) -- though as far as I can tell,
this does not ever actually affect the result of overload resolution, and
- we misapplied the special-case rules for constructors taking a parameter
whose type is a (reference to) the same class type by incorrectly assuming
that only happens for copy/move constructors (it also happens for
constructors instantiated from templates and those inherited from base
classes).
These changes should only affect strange corner cases (for instance, where the
copy constructor exists but has a non-const-qualified parameter type), so for
the most part it only causes us to produce more 'candidate' notes, but see the
test changes for other cases whose behavior is affected.

This commit improves compatibility with the perl version of scan-build.
The perl version of scan-build produces output report directories with
increasing lexicographic ordering. This ordering is relied on by the CmpRuns.py
tool in utils/analyzer when comparing results for build commands with multiple
steps. That tool tries to line up the output directory for each step between
different runs of the analyzer based on the increasing directory name.
The python version of scan-build uses file.mkdtemp() with a time stamp
prefix to create report directories. The timestamp has a 1-second precision.
This means that when analysis of a single build step takes less than a second
the ordering property that CmpRuns.py expects will sometimes not hold,
depending on the timing and the random suffix generated by mkdtemp(). Ultimately
this causes CmpRuns to incorrectly correlate results from build steps and report
spurious differences between runs.
This commit increases the precision of the timestamp used in scan-build-py to
the microsecond level. This approach still has the same underlying issue -- but
in practice analysis of any build step is unlikely to take less than a
millisecond.

-pg option to generate a mcount function call at the entry of each

But mcount insertion is done before function inlining phase in clang,
sometime a function that already has a mcount call can be inlined in the

This patch adds an attribute "counting-function" to each function
rather than emitting the mcount call directly in frontend so that this
attribute can be processed in backend. Then the mcount calls can be
properly inserted in backend after all the other optimizations are

-fprofile-dir=path allows the user to specify where .gcda files should be
emitted when the program is run. In particular, this is the first flag that
causes the .gcno and .o files to have different paths, LLVM is extended to
support this. -fprofile-dir= does not change the file name in the .gcno (and
thus where lcov looks for the source) but it does change the name in the .gcda
(and thus where the runtime library writes the .gcda file). It's different from
a GCOV_PREFIX because a user can observe that the GCOV_PREFIX_STRIP will strip
paths off of -fprofile-dir= but not off of a supplied GCOV_PREFIX.
To implement this we split -coverage-file into -coverage-data-file and
-coverage-notes-file to specify the two different names. The !llvm.gcov
metadata node grows from a 2-element form {string coverage-file, node dbg.cu}
to 3-elements, {string coverage-notes-file, string coverage-data-file, node
dbg.cu}. In the 3-element form, the file name is already "mangled" with

Classes with no virtual methods or whose virtual methods were all
inherited from virtual bases don't have a vfptr at offset zero. We were
crashing attempting to get the layout of that non-existent vftable.
We don't need any vshape info in this case because the debugger can
infer it from the base class information. The current class may not
introduce any virtual methods if we are in this situation.
llvm-svn: 280287
The shape is really just the number of methods in the vftable, since we
don't support 16 bit far calls. All calls are near. Encode this number
in the size of the artificial __vtbl_ptr_type DIDerivedType that we
generate. For DWARF, this will be a normal pointer, but for codeview
this will be a wide pointer that gets pattern matched into a
VFTableShape record. Insert this type into the element list of all
dynamic classes when emitting CodeView, so that the backend can emit the
shape even if the vptr lives in a primary base class.

r280133. Original commit message:
C++ Modules TS: driver support for building modules.
This works as follows: we add --precompile to the existing gamut of options for
specifying how far to go when compiling an input (-E, -c, -S, etc.). This flag
specifies that an input is taken to the precompilation step and no further, and
this can be specified when building a .pcm from a module interface or when
building a .pch from a header file.
The .cppm extension (and some related extensions) are implicitly recognized as
C++ module interface files. If --precompile is /not/ specified, the file is
compiled (via a .pcm) to a .o file containing the code for the module (and then
potentially also assembled and linked, if -S, -c, etc. are not specified). We
do not yet suppress the emission of object code for other users of the module
interface, so for now this will only work if everything in the .cppm file has
vague linkage.
As with the existing support for module-map modules, prebuilt modules can be
provided as compiler inputs either via the -fmodule-file= command-line argument
or via files named ModuleName.pcm in one of the directories specified via

-fprebuilt-module-path=.
This also exposes the -fmodules-ts cc1 flag in the driver. This is still

Clang always assumes that files are utf-8. If an invalidly encoded character is
used in an identifier, clang always errors. If it's used in a character
literal, clang warns Winvalid-source-encoding (on by default). Clang never
checks the encoding of things in comments (adding this seems like a nice
feature if it doesn't impact performance).
For cl.exe /utf-8 (which enables /validate-charset), if a bad character is used
in an identifier, it emits both an error and a warning. If it's used in a
literal or a comment, it emits a warning.
So mapping /validate-charset to -Winvalid-source-encoding seems like a fairly
decent fit.

Clang tracks only start columns, not start-end ranges. CodeView allows for that, but the VS debugger doesn't handle anything less than a complete range well--it either highlights the wrong part of a statement or truncates source lines in the assembly view. It's better to have no column information at all.
So by default, we'll omit the column information for CodeView targeting Windows.

Summary:
This patch adds the capability to bundle object files in sections of the host binary using a designated naming convention for these sections. This patch uses the functionality of the object reader already in the LLVM library to read bundled files, and invokes clang with the incremental linking options to create bundle files.
Bundling files involves creating an IR file with the contents of the bundle assigned as initializers of globals binded to the designated sections. This way the bundling implementation is agnostic of the host object format.
The features added by this patch were requested in the RFC discussion in http://lists.llvm.org/pipermail/cfe-dev/2016-February/047547.html.

Summary:
One of the goals of programming models that support offloading (e.g. OpenMP) is to enable users to offload with little effort, by annotating the code with a few pragmas. I'd also like to save users the trouble of changing their existent applications' build system. So having the compiler always return a single file instead of one for the host and each target even if the user is doing separate compilation is desirable.
This diff proposes a tool named clang-offload-bundler (happy to change the name if required) that is used to bundle files associated with the same user source file but different targets, or to unbundle a file into separate files associated with different targets.
This tool supports the driver support for OpenMP under review in http://reviews.llvm.org/D9888. The tool is used there to enable separate compilation, so that the very first action on input files that are not source files is a "unbundling action" and the very last non-linking action is a "bundling action".
The format of the bundled files is currently very simple: text formats are concatenated with comments that have a magic string and target identifying triple in between, and binary formats have a header that contains the triple and the offset and size of the code for host and each target.
The goal is to improve this tool in the future to deal with archive files so that each individual file in the archive is properly dealt with. We see that archives are very commonly used in current applications to combine separate compilation results. So I'm convinced users would enjoy this feature.
This tool can be used like this:
`clang-offload-bundler -targets=triple1,triple2 -type=ii -inputs=a.triple1.ii,a.triple2.ii -outputs=a.ii`
or
`clang-offload-bundler -targets=triple1,triple2 -type=ii -outputs=a.triple1.ii,a.triple2.ii -inputs=a.ii -unbundle`
I implemented the tool under clang/tools. Please let me know if something like this should live somewhere else.
This patch is prerequisite for http://reviews.llvm.org/D9888.

- Add a forward-declare of llround(float), which is defined in the CUDA
headers. We need this for the same reason we need most of the other
forward-declares: To prevent a constexpr function in our standard
library from becoming host+device.
- Add nexttowardf implementation.
- Pull "foobarf" functions defined by the CUDA headers in the global
namespace into namespace std. This lets you do e.g. std::sinf.
- Add overloads for math functions accepting integer types. This lets
you do e.g. std::sin(0) without having an ambiguity between the
overload that takes a float and the one that takes a double.
With these changes, we pass testcases derived from libc++ for cmath and

Each such triple represents the moment of analyzing a statement with a certain
call backtrace, with corresponding CFG block having been entered a given amount
of times during analysis of the current code body.
The LocationContext information was accidentally omitted for SymbolMetadata,
which leads to reincarnation of SymbolMetadata upon re-entering a code body
with a different backtrace; the new symbol is incorrectly unified with
the old symbol, which leads to unsound assumptions.

Summary:
rL277342 made RecursiveASTVisitor visit lambda capture initialization
expressions (these are the Exprs in LambdaExpr::capture_inits()).
jdennett identified two issues with rL277342 (see comments there for details):
- It visits initialization expressions for implicit lambda captures, even if
shouldVisitImplicitCode() returns false.
- It visits initialization expressions for init captures twice (because these
were already traveresed in TraverseLambdaCapture() before rL277342)
This patch fixes these issues and moves the code for traversing initialization
expressions into TraverseLambdaCapture().
This patch also makes two changes required for the tests:
- It adds Lang_CXX14 to the Language enum in TestVisitor.
- It adds a parameter to ExpectedLocationVisitor::ExpectMatch() that specifies
the number of times a match is expected to be seen.

around a Linux kernel bug where the actual amount of available stack may be a
*lot* lower than the rlimit.
GCC also sets a higher stack rlimit on startup, but it goes all the way to
64MiB. We can increase this limit if it proves necessary.
The kernel bug is as follows: Linux kernels prior to version 4.1 may choose to
map the process's heap as little as 128MiB before the process's stack for a PIE
binary, even in a 64-bit virtual address space. This means that allocating more
than 128MiB before you reach the process's stack high water mark can lead to
crashes, even if you don't recurse particularly deeply.
We work around the kernel bug by touching a page deep within the stack (after
ensuring that we know how big it is), to preallocate virtual address space for
the stack so that the kernel doesn't allow the brk() area to wander into it,
when building clang as a Linux PIE binary.

This patch adds a few new convenience options used by the PGO CMake cache to setup options on bootstrap stages. The new options are:
PGO_INSTRUMENT_LTO - Builds the instrumented and final builds with LTO
PGO_BUILD_CONFIGURATION - Accepts a CMake cache script that can be used for complex configuration of the stage2-instrumented and stage2 builds.
The patch also includes a fix for bootstrap dependencies so that the instrumented LTO tools don't get used when building the final stage, and it adds distribution targets to the passthrough.

With -debug-info-kind=limited, we omit debug info for dynamic classes that live in other TUs. This reduces duplicate type information. When statically linked, the type information comes together. But if your binary has a class derived from a base in a DLL, the base class info is not available to the debugger.
The decision is made in shouldOmitDefinition (CGDebugInfo.cpp). Per a suggestion from rnk, I've tweaked the decision so that we do include definitions for classes marked as DLL imports. This should be a relatively small number of classes, so we don't pay a large price for duplication of the type info, yet it should cover most cases on Windows.
Essentially this makes debug info for DLLs independent, but we still assume that all TUs within the same DLL will be consistently built with (or without) debug info and the debugger will be able to search across the debug info within that scope to resolve any declarations into definitions, etc.

Summary:
Some function calls in CUDA are allowed to appear in
semantically-correct programs but are an error if they're ever
codegen'ed. Specifically, a host+device function may call a host
function, but it's an error if such a function is ever codegen'ed in
device mode (and vice versa).
Previously, clang made no attempt to catch these errors. For the most
part, they would be caught by ptxas, and reported as "call to unknown
function 'foo'".
Now we catch these errors and report them the same as we report other
illegal calls (e.g. a call from a host function to a device function).
This has a small change in error-message behavior for calls that were
previously disallowed (e.g. calls from a host to a device function).
Previously, we'd catch disallowed calls fairly early, before doing
additional semantic checking e.g. of the call's arguments. Now we catch
these illegal calls at the very end of our semantic checks, so we'll
only emit a "illegal CUDA call" error if the call is otherwise
well-formed.

faults in some architectures if the pointer value is dereferenced.
This change adds a new warning to clang emitted when taking the address

constraints were added to _mm256_broadcast_{pd,ps} intel intrinsics.
The spec for these intrinics is ... pretty much silent on alignment.
This is especially frustrating considering the amount of discussion of
alignment in the load and store instrinsics. So I was forced to rely on
the specification for the VBROADCASTF128 instruction.
That instruction's spec is *also* completely silent on alignment.
Fortunately, when it comes to the instruction's spec, silence is enough.
There is no #GP fault option for an underaligned address so this
instruction, and by inference the intrinsic, can read any alignment.
As it happens, the old code worked exactly this way and in fact we have
plenty of code that hands pointers with less than 16-byte alignment to
these intrinsics. This code broke pretty spectacularly with this commit.
Fortunately, the fix is super simple! Change a 16 to a 1, and ta da!

This patch (with the corresponding ARM backend patch) adds support for
some new relocation models:
* Read-only position independence (ROPI): Code and read-only data is accessed
PC-relative. The offsets between all code and RO data sections are known at
static link time.
* Read-write position independence (RWPI): Read-write data is accessed relative
to a static base register. The offsets between all writeable data sections
are known at static link time.
These two modes are independent (they specify how different objects
should be addressed), so they can be used individually or together.
These modes are intended for bare-metal systems or systems with small
real-time operating systems. They are designed to avoid the need for a
dynamic linker, the only initialisation required is setting the static
base register to an appropriate value for RWPI code.
There is one C construct not currently supported by these modes: global
variables initialised to the address of another global variable or
function, where that address is not known at static-link time. There are
a few possible ways to solve this:
* Disallow this, and require the user to write their own initialisation
function if they need variables like this.
* Emit dynamic initialisers for these variables in the compiler, called from
the .init_array section (as is currently done for C++ dynamic initialisers).
We have a patch to do this, described in my original RFC email
(http://lists.llvm.org/pipermail/llvm-dev/2015-December/093022.html), but the
feedback from that RFC thread was that this is not something that belongs in
clang.
* Use a small dynamic loader to fix up these variables, by adding the
difference between the load and execution address of the relevant section.
This would require linker co-operation to generate a table of addresses that
need fixing up.

For builtin logical operators, there is a well-defined ordering of argument
evaluation. For overloaded operator of the same type, there is no argument
evaluation order, similar to other function calls. When both are present,
uninstantiated templates with an operator&& is treated as an unresolved
function call. Unresolved function calls are treated as normal function calls,
and may result in false positives when the builtin logical operator is used.
Have the unsequenced checker ignore dependent expressions to avoid this
false positive. The check also happens in template instantiations to catch
when the overloaded operator is used.

This differs from the previous version by being more careful about template
instantiation/specialization in order to prevent errors when building with

* begin is not defined in the template and is instead instantiated when Head
is. I think the warning when we don't do that is wrong (PR28815) but for now
at least do it this way to avoid the warning.
* Instead of performing template specializations in LLVM_INSTANTIATE_REGISTRY
instead provide a template definition then do explicit instantiation. No
compiler I've tried has problems with doing it the other way, but strictly
speaking it's not permitted by the C++ standard so better safe than sorry.
Original commit message:
Currently the Registry class contains the vestiges of a previous attempt to
allow plugins to be used on Windows without using BUILD_SHARED_LIBS, where a
plugin would have its own copy of a registry and export it to be imported by
the tool that's loading the plugin. This only works if the plugin is entirely
self-contained with the only interface between the plugin and tool being the
registry, and in particular this conflicts with how IR pass plugins work.
This patch changes things so that instead the add_node function of the registry
is exported by the tool and then imported by the plugin, which solves this
problem and also means that instead of every plugin having to export every
