Todd Fiala 6d6b55d153 Pull ProcessInfo and ProcessLaunchInfo out of Target/Process.
Elevate ProcessInfo and ProcessLaunchInfo into their own headers.
llgs will be using ProcessLaunchInfo but doesn't need to pull in
the rest of Process.h.

This also moves a bunch of implementation details from the header
declarations into ProcessInfo.cpp and ProcessLaunchInfo.cpp.

Tested on Ubuntu 14.04 Cmake and MacOSX Xcode.

Jim Ingham c1fdb889a9 Revert the debugserver part of r211868. While formally a fine change, debugserver
doesn't depend on llvm (it really doesn't even depend on anything in lldb) and this
nicety isn't worth adding that dependence.

Jim Ingham 6008924508 Rework fix in r201744. You really DO need to waitpid twice to get the
process fully reaped. The race & bad behavior was because we were letting
the reaping thread in LLDB to also set the Process exit status, so debugserver
would sometimes be shut down before it got a chance to report the exit status,
and then we got confused.

Ed Maste 4cfcca7b6f Restore fixes reverted by r211607:
r209631: Use MIUtilSystemLinux on FreeBSD as well

We should later rename this file (probably MIUtilSystemPOSIX), but
more clean-up is still needed here, and we can wait until we better
understand how this code may be shared between FreeBSD, Linux, and OS X.

r209632: Add stdlib.h for malloc and friends

r209633: Remove include of obsolete stropts.h header

The header is for POSIX streams functionality, and does not exist on
FreeBSD, OS X, or contemporary Linux distributions.

Jason Molenda 705b180964 Initial merge of some of the iOS 8 / Mac OS X Yosemite specific
lldb support. I'll be doing more testing & cleanup but I wanted to
get the initial checkin done.

This adds a new SBExpressionOptions::SetLanguage API for selecting a
language of an expression.

I added adds a new SBThread::GetInfoItemByPathString for retriving
information about a thread from that thread's StructuredData.

I added a new StructuredData class for representing
key-value/array/dictionary information (e.g. JSON formatted data).
Helper functions to read JSON and create a StructuredData object,
and to print a StructuredData object in JSON format are included.

A few Cocoa / Cocoa Touch data formatters were updated by Enrico
to track changes in iOS 8 / Yosemite.

Before we query a thread's extended information, the system runtime may
provide hints to the remote debug stub that it will use to retrieve values
out of runtime structures. I added a new SystemRuntime method
AddThreadExtendedInfoPacketHints which allows the SystemRuntime to add
key-value type data to the initial request that we send to the remote stub.

The thread-format formatter string can now retrieve values out of a thread's
extended info structured data. The default thread-format string picks up
two of these - thread.info.activity.name and thread.info.trace_messages.

I added a new "jThreadExtendedInfo" packet in debugserver; I will
add documentation to the lldb-gdb-remote.txt doc soon. It accepts
JSON formatted arguments (most importantly, "thread":threadnum) and
it returns a variety of information regarding the thread to lldb
in JSON format. This JSON return is scanned into a StructuredData
object that is associated with the thread; UI layers can query the
thread's StructuredData to see if key-values are present, and if
so, show them to the user. These key-values are likely to be
specific to different targets with some commonality among many
targets. For instance, many targets will be able to advertise the
pthread_t value for a thread.

I added an initial rough cut of "thread info" command which will print
the information about a thread from the jThreadExtendedInfo result.
I need to do more work to make this format reasonably.

Han Ming added calls into the pmenergy and pmsample libraries if
debugserver is run on Mac OS X Yosemite to get information about the
inferior's power use.

I added support to debugserver for gathering the Genealogy information
about threads, if it exists, and returning it in the jThreadExtendedInfo
JSON result.

Greg Clayton 7ab7f89ae0 iOS simulator cleanup to make sure we use "*-apple-ios" for iOS simulator apps and binaries.
Changes include:
- ObjectFileMachO can now determine if a binary is "*-apple-ios" or "*-apple-macosx" by checking the min OS and SDK load commands
- ArchSpec now says "<arch>-apple-macosx" is equivalent to "<arch>-apple-ios" since the simulator mixes and matches binaries (some from the system and most from the iOS SDK).
- Getting process inforamtion on MacOSX now correctly classifies iOS simulator processes so they have "*-apple-ios" architectures in the ProcessInstanceInfo
- PlatformiOSSimulator can now list iOS simulator processes correctly instead of showing nothing by using:
    (lldb) platform select ios-simulator
    (lldb) platform process list
- debugserver can now properly return "*-apple-ios" for the triple in the process info packets for iOS simulator executables
- GDBRemoteCommunicationClient now correctly passes along the triples it gets for process info by setting the OS in the llvm::Triple correctly

Todd Fiala 9f72b3a1ce Modify debugserver to follow gdb remote $qC protocol definition.
$qC from debugserver now returns the current thread's thread-id (and, like $?, will set a current thread if one is not already selected). Previously it was returning the current process id.

lldb will now query $qProcessInfo to retrieve the process id. The process id is now cached lazily and reset like other cached values. Retrieval of the process id will fall back to the old $qC method for vendor==Apple and os==iOS if the qProcessInfo retrieval fails.

Added a gdb remote protocol-level test to verify that $qProcessInfo reports a valid process id after launching a process, while the process is in the initial stopped state. Verifies the given process id is a currently valid process on host OSes for which we know how to check (MacOSX, Linux, {Free/Net}BSD). Ignores the live process check for OSes where we don't know how to do this. (I saw no portable way to do this in stock Python without pulling in other libs).

Jason Molenda a332978b2a lldb arm64 import.
These changes were written by Greg Clayton, Jim Ingham, Jason Molenda.

It builds cleanly against TOT llvm with xcodebuild. I updated the
cmake files by visual inspection but did not try a build. I haven't
built these sources on any non-Mac platforms - I don't think this
patch adds any code that requires darwin, but please let me know if
I missed something.

In debugserver, MachProcess.cpp and MachTask.cpp were renamed to

code needed to launch processes when running on iOS.

GDBProcessCommunicationServer now optionally takes a PlatformSP that

GDBProcessCommunicationServer::LaunchProcess () now uses the platform

lldb-gdbserver now takes an optional --platform={platform_plugin_name}

specified, the default platform for the host is used; otherwise, if
the platform_plugin_name matches a registered platform plugin or
matches the default platform's name (which is not necessarily
registered by name in the case of 'host'), that platform is used. If
the platform name cannot be resolved, lldb-gdbserver exits after
printing all the available platform plugin names and the default
platform plugin name.

The many many benefits include:
1 - Input/Output/Error streams are now handled as real streams not a push style input
2 - auto completion in python embedded interpreter
3 - multi-line input for "script" and "expression" commands now allow you to edit previous/next lines using up and down arrow keys and this makes multi-line input actually a viable thing to use
4 - it is now possible to use curses to drive LLDB (please try the "gui" command)

We will need to deal with and fix any buildbot failures and tests and arise now that input/output and error are correctly hooked up in all cases.

Todd Fiala 3e92a2b013 Added reaper for commandline-launched processes.
GDBRemoteCommunicationServer::LaunchProcess () now uses the built-up
ProcessLaunchArgs rather than clearing and setting items from the
function arguments. I added setters for the arguments and launch
flags, which lldb-gdbserver uses for its specification of the
commandline-specified startup app (if one is specified).

LaunchProcess () also adds a new reaper monitor that it applies to
the launched process if no process monitor has already been applied.

This addresses an issue where the 'k' command would generate (possibly
false) warnings about not being able to positively state whether a
killed process actually terminated. GDBRemoteCommunicationServer now
definitely knows the disposition of its children.

Todd Fiala 403edc5c57 Move process launching into GDBRemoteCommunicationServer.
lldb-gdbserver was launching the commandline-specified launch process
directly, without GDBRemoteCommunicationServer knowing anything about
it. As GDBRemoteCommunicationServer is the piece that manages and
knows about processes that the gdb remote protocol discusses with
the client end, it is important that it know about launched processes.

This change also implements the k gdb remote protocol message, having it
kill all known spawned processes when it is received.

(Note: in lldb-gdbserver, the spawned processes are not properly
monitored yet. The response to the k packet will complain that
spawned processes do not really appear to be getting killed even if
they are. This will get addressed soon.)

Todd Fiala 4bd862206a Add --lldb-command command-line option to lldb-gdbserver
lldb-gdbserver now takes zero or more --lldb-command {command} options
that get executed by the command interpreter prior to starting up
a child debuggee process. The short form is -c {command}. This is
similar to how lldb-platform works.

This command can be used to enable logging in more than just the
gdb-remote log channel. Here is an example startup sequence that allows
logging of lldb host and process log categories to one file and
gdb-remote packets to another file:

lldb-gdbserver -c 'log enable -f lgs.log lldb process host' \
  -c 'log enable -f lgs_packets.log gdb-remote packets' \

Todd Fiala f3d61de532 Enable Linux distribution in vendor portion of host triple.
This change does the following:

* enables building lldb-gdbserver on linux_x86-64 platforms.

Note - it builds but it has several run-time issues where many gdb
remote protocol features are not properly implemented yet. I'm
working on these one at a time.

* lldb-gdbserver: does not enable the eLaunchFlagDebug launch flag on
Linux. Currently the POSIX launch routine will assert if that flag
is passed in, presumably because that launch mode is not yet
available. This prevents lldb-gdbserver from asserting the moment
  it launches the debuggee process.

* Adds ConstString& Host::GetDistributionId ()

This method is defined to return an empty result on all platforms
except for Linux. On Linux, it makes one attempt to execute
  'lsb_release -i' (both /usr/bin/lsb_release, where it appears
on ubuntu, and /bin/lsb_release, where it appears on fedora
if the redhat-lsb package is installed). If lsb_release is not
found in either of those locations, or if 'lsb_release -i' does
not return the first line starting with "Distributor ID:\t",
then the distribution id is empty. The method will lower-case
the id and replace whitespace with underscores.

* Modify Host::GetArchitecture () so that linux replaces an unknown
vendor portion with the results of GetDistributionId () if that
is non-empty. This shows up now in qHostInfo remote packet
responses and on the lldb host side. Tested with ubuntu and
fedora (the latter both with the default of not having lsb_release
installed, and with having lsb_release installed via the redhat-lsb
  package).

Examples of triples on Linux after this change:

    # x86_64 Unbuntu 12.04 LTS:
    x86_64-ubuntu-linux-gnu

    # x86_64 Fedora 20 Desktop with redhat-lsb package installed
    x86_64-fedora-linux-gnu

    # x86_64 Fedora 20 Desktop without redhat-lsb-core installed
    # (i.e. no /bin/lsb_release available)
    # same as before the change
    x86_64--linux-gnu

Note I intend to have Android respond with:

    {arch}-android-linux

when I get to implementing Android lldb-gdbserver support.

Greg Clayton 00fe87b488 Modified local spawning in debugserver processes to use a new --reverse-connect option so that debugserver actually connects back to LLDB instead of LLDB connecting to debugserver.
This gets rid of our hacky "get_random_port()" which would grab a random port and tell debugserver to open that port. Now LLDB creates, binds, listens and accepts a connection by binding to port zero and sending the correctly bound port down as the host:port to connect back to.

Fixed the "ConnectionFileDescriptor" to be able to correctly listen for connections from a specified host, localhost, or any host. Prior to this fix "listen://" only accepted the following format:

listen://<port>

But now it can accept:

listen://<port> // Listen for connection from localhost on port <port>
listen://<host>:<port> // Listen for connection from <host> and <port>
listen://*:<port> // Listen for connection from any host on port <port>

Greg Clayton 5fb8f79738 Fixed internal code to not link against and code from "lldb/API/*".
lldb_private::Debugger was #including some "lldb/API" header files which causes tools (lldb-platform and lldb-gdbserver) that link against the internals only (no API layer) to fail to link depending on which calls were being used.

Also fixed the current working directory so that it gets set correctly for remote test suite runs. Now the remote working directory is set to: "ARCH/TESTNUM/..." where ARCH is the current architecture name and "TESTNUM" is the current test number.

Fixed the "lldb-platform" and "lldb-gdbserver" to not warn about mismatched visibility settings by having each have their own exports file which contains nothing. This forces all symbols to not be exported, and also quiets the linker warnings.

Greg Clayton fb90931b60 Improved platform support.
Improved the detection of a valid GDB server where we actually can connect to a socket, but then it doesn't read or write anything (which happens with some USB mux software).

Host::MakeDirectory() now can make as many intermediate directories as needed.

The testsuite now has very initial support for remote test suite running. When running on a remote platform, the setUp function for the test will make a new directory and select it as the working directory on the remote host.

Greg Clayton be94a04055 Start the correct host abstraction of process and thread.
Added a new "Host/Debug.h" which contains the pure virtual class definitions for NativeProcessProtocol and NativeThreadProtocol. These classes are host layer classes that, over time, every host that supports debugging will implement once.

Then the new "lldb-gdbserver" binary in the tools directory will be able to make a remote debugging binary from these native classes, and we will also be able to have a new lldb_private::Process class that implements native debugging using these classes.

So as soon as linux and MacOSX switch over to using this layer, everyone will get native and remote debugging.

This check-in is primarily to get the needed code in so that poeple can start trying to implement the NativeProcessProtocol and NativeThreadProtocol and use it in the GDBRemoteCommunicationServer class to implement a GDB server for remote debugging.

Greg Clayton 29b8fc4da9 Added new options to lldb-platform:
--gdbserver-port PORT
    --min-gdbserver-port PORT
    --max-gdbserver-port PORT

The --gdbserver-port option can be specified multiple times to tell lldb-platform which ports it can use when launching child GDB server processes.
The --min-gdbserver-port and --max-gdbserver-port options allow a range of ports to be specified for use when launching child GDB server processes.

Fixed the code to manage these ports correctly in GDBRemoteCommunicationServer.

Also changed GDBRemoteCommunicationClient to not set a port when sending the "qLaunchGDBServer" packet so that the remote lldb-platform can decide which ports to use. If the lldb-platform was launched with no --gdbserver-port or --min-gdbserver-port/--max-gdbserver-port options, then port 0 is always used and a unix socket is used between the lldb-platform and child GDB server process to coordinate the use of valid port.

    src = lldb.SBFileSpec("/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/SharedFrameworks/LLDB.framework", False)
    dst = lldb.SBFileSpec()
    # copy src to platform working directory since "dst" is empty
    err = remote_platform.Install(src, dst);
    if err.Success():
print >> result, '%s installed successfully' % (src)
    else:
print >> result, 'error: failed to install "%s": %s' % (src, err)

Implemented many calls needed in lldb-platform to be able to install a directory that contains symlinks, file and directories.

The remote lldb-platform can now launch GDB servers on the remote system so that remote debugging can be spawned through the remote platform when connected to a remote platform.

The API in SBPlatform is subject to change and will be getting many new functions.

Added two new GDB server packets to debugserver: "QSaveRegisterState" and "QRestoreRegiterState".

"QSaveRegisterState" makes the remote GDB server save all register values and it returns a save identifier as an unsigned integer. This packet can be used prior to running expressions to save all registers.

All registers can them we later restored with "QRestoreRegiterState:SAVEID" what SAVEID is the integer identifier that was returned from the call to QSaveRegisterState.

Cleaned up redundant code in lldb_private::Thread, lldb_private::ThreadPlanCallFunction.
Moved the lldb_private::Thread::RegisterCheckpoint into its own header file and it is now in the lldb_private namespace. Trimmed down the RegisterCheckpoint class to omit stuff that wasn't used (the stack ID).

Daniel Malea e0f8f574c7 merge lldb-platform-work branch (and assorted fixes) into trunk
Summary:
This merge brings in the improved 'platform' command that knows how to
interface with remote machines; that is, query OS/kernel information, push
and pull files, run shell commands, etc... and implementation for the new
communication packets that back that interface, at least on Darwin based
operating systems via the POSIXPlatform class. Linux support is coming soon.

Verified the test suite runs cleanly on Linux (x86_64), build OK on Mac OS

Additional improvements (not in the source SVN branch 'lldb-platform-work'):
    - cmake build scripts for lldb-platform
    - cleanup test suite
    - documentation stub for qPlatform_RunCommand
    - use log class instead of printf() directly
    - reverted work-in-progress-looking changes from test/types/TestAbstract.py that work towards running the test suite remotely.

Sylvestre Ledru 594058394e Following the modification introduced in llvm by commit 185311
The build system is currently miss-identifying GNU/kFreeBSD as FreeBSD.
This kind of simplification is sometimes useful, but in general it's not correct.

As GNU/kFreeBSD is an hybrid system, for kernel-related issues we want to match the
build definitions used for FreeBSD, whereas for userland-related issues we want to
match the definitions used for other systems with Glibc.

The current modification adjusts the build system so that they can be distinguished,

Greg Clayton d8cf1a119d Huge performance improvements when one breakpoint contains many locations.
325,000 breakpoints for running "breakpoint set --func-regex ." on lldb itself (after hitting a breakpoint at main so that LLDB.framework is loaded) used to take up to an hour to set, now we are down under a minute. With warm file caches, we are at 40 seconds, and that is with setting 325,000 breakpoint through the GDB remote API. Linux and the native debuggers might be faster. I haven't timed what how much is debug info parsing and how much is the protocol traffic to/from GDB remote.

That there were many performance issues. Most of them were due to storing breakpoints in the wrong data structures, or using the wrong iterators to traverse the lists, traversing the lists in inefficient ways, and not optimizing certain function name lookups/symbol merges correctly.

Debugging after that is also now very efficient. There were issues with replacing the breakpoint opcodes in memory that was read, and those routines were also fixed.

Greg Clayton fd23889e53 Remove the debugserver "--open-connection" option and obey the hostname that is passed into debugserver.
you can now specify:

debugserver host:port
debugserver port
debugserver /path/to/file

When "host" is specified, we will only accept connections from that host. If host is not specified, we default to "localhost".

The "lldb" driver was interfering with STDOUT and STDERR if the output was over 1024 charcters long. The output was grabbing 1024 characters at a time, before it output the characters, it was writing characters to the screen to clear the current line. This has been fixed.

I also fixed the command interpreter from mixing the "(lldb) " prompt in with program output by always manually checking for program output. This was done by having the command interpreter know when it is in the middle of executing a command by setting a bool. This was needed since sometimes when a command would run the target, like with a command like 'expression (int)printf("hello\n")', the process would push a new input reader, and then pop it when it was done. This popping of the input reader would cause the command interpreter to get sent a reactivated message (from the private process state thread) and cause it to ask for another command, even though we were still in the middle of the command ('expression (int)printf("hello\n")'). Now we set a bool to true, run the command and set the bool to false. If we get reactivated while we are in the middle of a command, we don't say we are ready for a new command. This coupled with emitting the STDOUT/STDERR first after each command, followed by the command results, followed by then saying we are ready for a new command, should help cleanup the command line output on all platforms.

Greg Clayton e01e07b6e7 Since we use C++11, we should switch over to using std::unique_ptr when C++11 is being used. To do this, we follow what we have done for shared pointers and we define a STD_UNIQUE_PTR macro that can be used and it will "do the right thing". Due to some API differences in std::unique_ptr and due to the fact that we need to be able to compile without C++11, we can't use move semantics so some code needed to change so that it can compile with either C++.
Anyone wanting to use a unique_ptr or auto_ptr should now use the "STD_UNIQUE_PTR(TYPE)" macro.
