Previously these were reported from the driver which blocked clang-scan-deps from getting the full set of dependencies from cc1 commands.
Also the default sanitizer blacklist that is added in driver was never reported as a dependency. I introduced -fsanitize-system-blacklist cc1 option to keep track of which blacklists were user-specified and which were added by driver and clang -MD now also reports system blacklists as dependencies.

I noticed that compiling on Windows with -fno-ms-compatibility had the
side effect of defining __GNUC__, along with __GNUG__, __GXX_RTTI__, and
a number of other macros for GCC compatibility. This is undesirable and
causes Chromium to do things like mix __attribute__ and __declspec,
which doesn't work. We should have a positive language option to enable
GCC compatibility features so that we can experiment with
-fno-ms-compatibility on Windows. This change adds -fgnuc-version= to be
that option.
My issue aside, users have, for a long time, reported that __GNUC__
doesn't match their expectations in one way or another. We have
encouraged users to migrate code away from this macro, but new code
continues to be written assuming a GCC-only environment. There's really
nothing we can do to stop that. By adding this flag, we can allow them
to choose their own adventure with __GNUC__.
This overlaps a bit with the "GNUMode" language option from -std=gnu*.
The gnu language mode tends to enable non-conforming behaviors that we'd
rather not enable by default, but the we want to set things like
__GXX_RTTI__ by default, so I've kept these separate.

The existing code has already tried to rewrite just __has_include,

that might affect the dependency list for a compilation
This commit introduces a dependency directives source minimizer to clang
that minimizes header and source files to the minimum necessary preprocessor
directives for evaluating includes. It reduces the source down to #define, #include,
The source minimizer works by lexing the input with a custom fast lexer that recognizes
the preprocessor directives it cares about, and emitting those directives in the minimized source.
It ignores source code, comments, and normalizes whitespace. It gives up and fails if seems
any directives that it doesn't recognize as valid (e.g. #define 0).
In addition to the source minimizer this patch adds a
-print-dependency-directives-minimized-source CC1 option that allows you to invoke the minimizer
from clang directly.

Summary:
When mounting LLVM source into a windows container in read-only mode, certain tests fail. Ideally, we want all these tests to pass so that developers can mount the same source folder into multiple (windows) containers simultaneously, allowing them to build/test the same source code using various different configurations simultaneously.
**Fix**: I've found that when attempting to open a file for writing on windows, if you don't have the correct permissions (trying to open a file for writing in a read-only folder), you get [Access is denied](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2623670/access-denied-or-other-errors-when-you-access-or-work-with-files-and-f). In llvm, we map this error message to a linux based error, see: https://github.com/llvm-mirror/llvm/blob/master/lib/Support/ErrorHandling.cpp
This is why we see "Permission denied" in our output as opposed to the expected "No such file or directory", thus causing the tests to fail.
I've changed the test locally to instead point to the root drive so that they can successfully bypass the Access is denied error when LLVM is mounted in as a read-only directory. This way, the test operate exactly the same, but we can get around the windows-complications of what error to expect in a read-only directory.

This patch proposes an abstract type that represents fixed point numbers, similar to APInt or APSInt that was discussed in https://reviews.llvm.org/D48456#inline-425585. This type holds a value, scale, and saturation and is meant to perform intermediate calculations on constant fixed point values.
Currently this class is used as a way for handling the conversions between fixed point numbers with different sizes and radixes. For example, if I'm casting from a signed _Accum to a saturated unsigned short _Accum, I will need to check the value of the signed _Accum to see if it fits into the short _Accum which involves getting and comparing against the max/min values of the short _Accum. It's possible for a header to be a symlink to another header. In this
case both will be represented by clang::FileEntry with the same UID and
they'll use the same clang::HeaderFileInfo.
If you include both headers and use some single-inclusion mechanism
like a header guard or #import, one header will get a FileChanged
callback, and another FileSkipped.
So that we get an accurate dependency file, we therefore need to also
implement the FileSkipped callback in dependency scanning.

behave as `__has_include`.
Fix by storing and using CurDirLookup when preprocessor enters a file,

llvm-svn: 319576
Lifting from Bob Wilson's notes: The hash value that we compute and
store in PGO profile data to detect out-of-date profiles does not
include enough information. This means that many significant changes to
the source will not cause compiler warnings about the profile being out
of date, and worse, we may continue to use the outdated profile data to
make bad optimization decisions. There is some tension here because
some source changes won't affect PGO and we don't want to invalidate the
profile unnecessarily.
This patch adds a new hashing scheme which is more sensitive to loop
nesting, conditions, and out-of-order control flow. Here are examples
which show snippets which get the same hash under the current scheme,
and different hashes under the new scheme:
Loop Nesting Example
--------------------
// Snippet 1
while (foo()) {
while (bar()) {}
}
// Snippet 2
while (foo()) {}
while (bar()) {}
Condition Example
-----------------
// Snippet 1
if (foo())
bar();
baz();
// Snippet 2
if (foo())
bar();
else
baz();
Out-of-order Control Flow Example
---------------------------------
// Snippet 1
while (foo()) {
if (bar()) {}
baz();
}
// Snippet 2
while (foo()) {
if (bar())
continue;
baz();
}
In each of these cases, it's useful to differentiate between the
snippets because swapping their profiles gives bad optimization hints.
The new hashing scheme considers some logical operators in an effort to
detect more changes in conditions. This isn't a perfect scheme. E.g, it
does not produce the same hash for these equivalent snippets:
// Snippet 1
bool c = !a || b;
if (d && e) {}
// Snippet 2
bool f = d && e;
bool c = !a || b;
if (f) {}
This would require an expensive data flow analysis. Short of that, the
new hashing scheme looks reasonably complete, based on a scan over the
statements we place counters on.
Profiles which use the old version of the PGO hash remain valid and can
be used without issue (there are tests in tree which check this).

This is provided on a best-effort basis; right now, this can be used to undo
the ABI change in r310401, reverting Clang to its prior C++ ABI for pass/return
by value of class types affected by that change, and to undo the ABI change in
r262688, reverting Clang to using integer registers rather than SSE registers
for passing <1 x long long> vectors. The intent is that we will maintain this
backwards compatibility path as we make ABI-breaking fixes in future.
The reversion to the old behavior for r310401 is also applied to the PS4 target

Discovered due to a goofy git setup, the test system-headerline-directive.c
(and a few others) failed because the token-consumption will consume only the
'\r' in CRLF, making the preprocessor's printed value give the wrong line number
when returning from an include. For example:
(line 1):#include <noline.h>\r\n
The "file exit" code causes the printer to try to print the 'returned to the
main file' line. It looks up what the current line number is. However, since the
current 'token' is the '\n' (since only the \r was consumed), it will give the
line number as '1", not '2'. This results in a few failed tests, but more
importantly, results in error messages being incorrect when compiling a

Fixes PR30752
llvm-svn: 303582
Many of our supported configurations support modules but do not have any
first-class syntax to perform a module import. This leaves us with a problem:
there is no way to represent the expansion of a #include that imports a module
in the -E output for such languages. (We don't want to just leave it as a
#include because that requires the consumer of the preprocessed source to have
the same file system layout and include paths as the creator.)
This patch adds a new pragma:
#pragma clang module import MODULE.NAME.HERE
that imports a module, and changes -E and -frewrite-includes to use it when
rewriting a #include that maps to a module import. We don't make any attempt
to use a native language syntax import if one exists, to get more consistent
output. (If in the future, @import and #include have different semantics in
some way, the pragma will track the #include semantics.)
llvm-svn: 301725
We already prohibited this in most cases (in r130710), but had some bugs in our
enforcement of this rule. Specifically, this prevents the following
combinations:
* -x c -std=clN.M, which would previously effectively act as if -x cl were
used, despite the input being a C source file. (-x cl -std=cNN continues
to be disallowed.)
* -x c++ -std=cuda, which would previously select C++98 + CUDA, despite that
not being a C++ standard. (-x cuda -std=c++NN is still permitted, and
selects CUDA with the given C++ standard as its base language.
-x cuda -std=cuda is still supported with the meaning of CUDA + C++98.)
* -x renderscript -std=c++NN, which would previously form a hybrid "C++ with
RenderScript extensions" language. We could support such a thing, but
shouldn't do so by accident.

Add -fdiagnostics-show-hotness
Summary:
I've recently added the ability for optimization remarks to include the
hotness of the corresponding code region. This uses PGO and allows
filtering of the optimization remarks by relevance. The idea was first
discussed here:
http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.compilers.llvm.devel/98334
The general goal is to produce a YAML file with the remarks. Then, an
external tool could dynamically filter these by hotness and perhaps by
other things.
That said it makes sense to also expose this at the more basic level
where we just include the hotness info with each optimization remark.
For example, in D22694, the clang flag was pretty useful to measure the
overhead of the additional analyses required to include hotness.
(Without the flag we don't even run the analyses.)

Since some profiling tools, such as gprof, ftrace, and uftrace, use
-pg option to generate a mcount function call at the entry of each

But mcount insertion is done before function inlining phase in clang,
sometime a function that already has a mcount call can be inlined in the
middle of another function.
This patch adds an attribute "counting-function" to each function
rather than emitting the mcount call directly in frontend so that this
attribute can be processed in backend. Then the mcount calls can be
properly inserted in backend after all the other optimizations are

Getting accurate locations for loops is important, because those locations are
used by the frontend to generate optimization remarks. Currently, optimization
remarks for loops often appear on the wrong line, often the first line of the
loop body instead of the loop itself. This is confusing because that line might
itself be another loop, or might be somewhere else completely if the body was
an inlined function call. This happens because of the way we find the loop's
starting location. First, we look for a preheader, and if we find one, and its
terminator has a debug location, then we use that. Otherwise, we look for a
location on an instruction in the loop header.
The fallback heuristic is not bad, but will almost always find the beginning of
the body, and not the loop statement itself. The preheader location search
often fails because there's often not a preheader, and even when there is a
preheader, depending on how it was formed, it sometimes carries the location of
some preceeding code.
I don't see any good theoretical way to fix this problem. On the other hand,
this seems like a straightforward solution: Put the debug location in the
loop's llvm.loop metadata. When emitting debug information, this commit causes
us to add the debug location as an operand to each loop's llvm.loop metadata.
Thus, we now generate this metadata for all loops (not just loops with
optimization hints) when we're otherwise generating debug information.
The remark test case changes depend on the companion LLVM commit r270771.

Embedded bitcode should have private linkage instead of appending or external.
Otherwise, it will cause link failure due to duplicated symbols.
Also add llvm.embedded.module and llvm.cmdline to llvm.compiler.used so they
don't get optimized out.

Summary:
Teach clang to embed bitcode inside bitcode. When -fembed-bitcode cc1
option is used, clang will embed both the input bitcode and cc1
commandline into the bitcode in special sections before compiling to
the object file. Using -fembed-bitcode-marker will only introduce a
marker in both sections.

Revert "Driver: only produce CFI -fvisibility= error when compiling."
Revert "clang/test/CodeGenCXX/cfi-blacklist.cpp: Exclude ms targets. They would be non-cfi."
llvm-svn: 267871
Bitsets, and the compiler features they rely on (vtable opt, CFI),
only have visibility within the LTO'd part of the linkage unit. Therefore,
only enable these features for classes with hidden LTO visibility. This
notion is based on object file visibility or (on Windows)
dllimport/dllexport attributes.
We provide the [[clang::lto_visibility_public]] attribute to override the
compiler's LTO visibility inference in cases where the class is defined
in the non-LTO'd part of the linkage unit, or where the ABI supports
calling classes derived from abstract base classes with hidden visibility
in other linkage units (e.g. COM on Windows).
If the cross-DSO CFI mode is enabled, bitset checks are emitted even for
classes with public LTO visibility, as that mode uses a separate mechanism
to cause bitsets to be exported.
This mechanism replaces the whole-program-vtables blacklist, so remove the
-fwhole-program-vtables-blacklist flag.
Because __declspec(uuid()) now implies [[clang::lto_visibility_public]], the
support for the special attr:uuid blacklist entry is removed.

OpenCL spec requires __OPENCL_C_VERSION__ to be defined based on -cl-std option. This patch implements that.
The patch also defines __FAST_RELAXED_MATH__ based on -cl-fast-relaxed-math option.
Also fixed a test using -std=c99 for OpenCL program. Limit allowed language standard of OpenCL to be OpenCL standards.

It seems that there was a miscommunication between Renato and I, and the
original behaviour of AArch64 was to be preserved and not to mirror the new

This adds support to optionally support using `__gnu_mcount_nc` as the mcount
interface rather than `mcount` for Linux and EABI. The other targets do not
provide an implementation for `__gnu_mcount_nc`. This can be activated via the
`-meabi gnu` flag.

-H in gcc mode doesn't print -include headers, but they are included in
depfiles written by MMD and friends. Since /showIncludes is what's used instead
of depfiles, printing /FI there seems important (and matches cl.exe).
Instead of giving HeaderIncludeGen more options, just switch on ShowAllHeaders
in clang-cl mode and let clang::InitializePreprocessor() not put -include flags
in the <command line> block. This changes the behavior of -E slightly, and it
removes the <command line> flag from the output triggered by setting the
obscure CC_PRINT_HEADERS=1 env var to true while running clang. Both of these
seem ok to change.

Currently when an AST plugin is loaded it must then be enabled by passing
-plugin pluginname or -add-plugin pluginname to the -cc1 command line. This
patch adds a method to PluginASTAction which allows it to declare that the
action happens before, instead of, or after the main AST action, plus the
relevant changes to make the plugin action happen at that time automatically.

Re-commit of r258950 after fixing layering violation.
The related LLVM patch adds a backend diagnostic type for reporting
unsupported features, this adds a printer for them to clang.
In the case where debug location information is not available, I've
changed the printer to report the location as the first line of the
function, rather than the closing brace, as the latter does not give the
user any information. This also affects optimisation remarks.

With this change, most 'g' options are rejected by CompilerInvocation.
They remain only as Driver options. The new way to request debug info
from cc1 is with "-debug-info-kind={line-tables-only|limited|standalone}"
and "-dwarf-version={2|3|4}". In the absence of a command-line option
to specify Dwarf version, the Toolchain decides it, rather than placing
Toolchain-specific logic in CompilerInvocation.

Current implementation may end up emitting an undefined reference for
an "inline __attribute__((always_inline))" function by generating an
"available_externally alwaysinline" IR function for it and then failing to
inline all the calls. This happens when a call to such function is in dead
code. As the inliner is an SCC pass, it does not process dead code.
Libc++ relies on the compiler never emitting such undefined reference.
With this patch, we emit a pair of
1. internal alwaysinline definition (called F.alwaysinline)
2a. A stub F() { musttail call F.alwaysinline }
-- or, depending on the linkage --
2b. A declaration of F.
The frontend ensures that F.inlinefunction is only used for direct
calls, and the stub is used for everything else (taking the address of
the function, really). Declaration (2b) is emitted in the case when
"inline" is meant for inlining only (like __gnu_inline__ and some
other cases).
This approach, among other nice properties, ensures that alwaysinline
functions are always internal, making it impossible for a direct call
to such function to produce an undefined symbol reference.
This patch is based on ideas by Chandler Carruth and Richard Smith.
