Pavel Labath 4c7763eb2f Enable ProcessMachCore plugin on non-apple platforms
Summary:
The plugin already builds fine on other platforms (linux, at least). All
that was necessary was to revitalize the hack in PlatformDarwinKernel
(not a very pretty hack, but it gets us going at least).

I haven't done a thorough investigation of the state of the plugin on
other platforms, but at least the two core file tests we have seem to
pass, so I enable them.

This brings the LLDB configuration closer to LLVM's and removes visual

This patch also reflows the paragraphs in all doxygen comments.

Adrian Prantl 05097246f3 Reflow paragraphs in comments.
This is intended as a clean up after the big clang-format commit
(r280751), which unfortunately resulted in many of the comment
paragraphs in LLDB being very hard to read.

FYI, the script I used was:

import textwrap
import commands
import os
import sys
import re
tmp = "%s.tmp"%sys.argv[1]
out = open(tmp, "w+")
with open(sys.argv[1], "r") as f:
  header = ""
  text = ""
  comment = re.compile(r'^( *//) ([^ ].*)$')
  special = re.compile(r'^((([A-Z]+[: ])|([0-9]+ )).*)|(.*;)$')
  for line in f:
      match = comment.match(line)
      if match and not special.match(match.group(2)):
          # skip intentionally short comments.
          if not text and len(match.group(2)) < 40:
              out.write(line)
              continue

          if text:
              text += " " + match.group(2)
          else:
              header = match.group(1)
              text = match.group(2)

          continue

      if text:
          filled = textwrap.wrap(text, width=(78-len(header)),
                                 break_long_words=False)
          for l in filled:
              out.write(header+" "+l+'\n')
              text = ""

      out.write(line)

Pavel Labath 5f19b90783 Move ArchSpec to the Utility module
The rationale here is that ArchSpec is used throughout the codebase,
including in places which should not depend on the rest of the code in
the Core module.

This commit touches many files, but most of it is just renaming of
 #include lines. In a couple of cases, I removed the #include ArchSpec
line altogether, as the file was not using it. In one or two places,
this necessitated adding other #includes like lldb-private-defines.h.

Pavel Labath b6dbe9a99c Clean up lldb-types.h
Summary:
It defined a couple of types (condition_t) which we don't use anymore,
as we have c++11 goodies now. I remove these definitions.

Also it unnecessarily included a couple of headers which weren't
necessary for it's operation. I remove these, and place the includes in
the relevant files (usually .cpp, usually in Host code) which use them.
This allows us to reduce namespace pollution in most of the lldb files
which don't need the OS-specific definitions.

Pavel Labath df1a0d1180 [linux] Change the way we load vdso pseudo-module
Summary:
This is basically a revert of D16107 and parts of D10800, which were
trying to get vdso loading working. They did this by implementing a
generic load-an-elf-file from memory approach, which is not correct,
since we cannot assume that an elf file is loaded in memory in full (it
usually isn't, as there's no need to load section headers for example).
This meant that we would read garbage instead of section sizes, and if
that garbage happened to be a large number, we would crash while trying
to allocate a buffer to accomodate the hypothetical section.

Instead of this, I add a bit of custom code to load the vdso to
DynamicLoaderPOSIXDYLD (which already needed to handle the vdso
specially). I determine the size of the memory to read using
Process::GetMemoryRegionInfo, which is information coming from the OS,
and cannot be forged by a malicious/misbehaving application.

The goal here is to get lldbUtility into a state where it has
no dependendencies except on itself and LLVM, so it can be the
starting point at which to start untangling LLDB's dependencies.
These are all low level and very widely used classes, and
previously lldbUtility had dependencies up to lldbCore in order
to use these classes. So moving then down to lldbUtility makes
sense from both the short term and long term perspective in
solving this problem.

The only usage there was in GetModificationTime(). I also took the opportunity

The new function returns a llvm::sys::TimePoint<>. To aid the transition

This adds the jModulesInfo packet, which is the equivalent of qModulesInfo, but it enables us to
query multiple modules at once. This makes a significant speed improvement in case the
application has many (over a hundred) modules, and the communication link has a non-negligible
latency. This functionality is accessed by ProcessGdbRemote::PrefetchModuleSpecs(), which does
the caching. GetModuleSpecs() is modified to first consult the cache before asking the remote
stub. PrefetchModuleSpecs is currently only called from POSIX-DYLD dynamic loader plugin, after
it reads the list of modules from the inferior memory, but other uses are possible.

This decreases the attach time to an android application by about 40%.

Kate Stone b9c1b51e45 *** This commit represents a complete reformatting of the LLDB source code
*** to conform to clang-format’s LLVM style. This kind of mass change has
*** two obvious implications:

Firstly, merging this particular commit into a downstream fork may be a huge
effort. Alternatively, it may be worth merging all changes up to this commit,
performing the same reformatting operation locally, and then discarding the
merge for this particular commit. The commands used to accomplish this
reformatting were as follows (with current working directory as the root of
the repository):

    find . \( -iname "*.c" -or -iname "*.cpp" -or -iname "*.h" -or -iname "*.mm" \) -exec clang-format -i {} +
    find . -iname "*.py" -exec autopep8 --in-place --aggressive --aggressive {} + ;

The version of clang-format used was 3.9.0, and autopep8 was 1.2.4.

Secondly, “blame” style tools will generally point to this commit instead of
a meaningful prior commit. There are alternatives available that will attempt
to look through this change and find the appropriate prior commit. YMMV.

Saleem Abdulrasool 2d6a9ec935 Clean up vestigial remnants of locking primitives
This finally removes the use of the Mutex and Condition classes. This is an
intricate patch as the Mutex and Condition classes were tied together.
Furthermore, many places had slightly differing uses of time values. Convert
timeout values to relative everywhere to permit the use of
std::chrono::duration, which is required for the use of
std::condition_variable's timeout. Adjust all Condition and related Mutex
classes over to std::{,recursive_}mutex and std::condition_variable.

This change primarily comes at the cost of breaking the TracingMutex which was
based around the Mutex class. It would be possible to write a wrapper to
provide similar functionality, but that is beyond the scope of this change.

Jason Molenda 9ab5dc2417 Add a new DynamicLoader plugin that uses SPI that are in development
for the fall (northern hemisphere) 2016 Darwin platforms to learn
about loaded images, instead of reading dyld internal data structures.
These new SPI don't exist on older releases, and new packets are
needed from debugserver to use them (those changes are already committed).

I had to change the minimum deployment target for debugserver in the xcode
project file to macOS 10.10 so that debugserver will use the
[[NSProcessInfo processInfo] operatingSystemVersion]
call in MachProcess::GetOSVersionNumbers to get the operarting system
version # -- this API is only available in macOS 10.10 and newer
("OS X Yosemite", released Oct 2014). If we have many people building
llvm.org lldb on older systems still, we can back off on this for the
llvm.org sources.

There should be no change in behavior with this commit, either to
older darwin systems or newer darwin systems.

For now the new DynamicLoader plugin is never activated - I'm forcing
the old plugin to be used in DynamicLoaderDarwin::UseDYLDSPI.
I'll remove that unconditional use of the old plugin soon, so the
newer plugin is used on the newest Darwin platforms.

Jason Molenda 5fe4d141e0 Refactor (with some rewriting) the DynamicLoaderMacOSX plugin into
a base class and a derived class, with the derived class containing
the methods specific to reading dyld's all_image_infos, dyld's
method of specifying images that have been loaded or unloaded, the
place where we put a breakpoint in dyld to get notified about newly
loaded or unloaded images.

This is in preparation for a second derived class which will use
some alternate methods for getting this information; that will be
a separate commit in the next few days.

There's a couple of ivars that should probably be in the derived
DyanmicLoaderMacOSX class instead of the base DynamicLoaderDarwin
class (m_dyld_image_infos, m_dyld_image_infos_stop_id).  I don't
think I'll need to use these in the new derived class - I'll
move them down to DynamicLoaderMacOSX if it works out that way;
it'll simplify locking if I can do that.

Greg Clayton 63a27afae3 Added support for thread local variables on all Apple OS variants.
We had support that assumed that thread local data for a variable could be determined solely from the module in which the variable exists. While this work for linux, it doesn't work for Apple OSs. The DWARF for thread local variables consists of location opcodes that do something like:

DW_OP_const8u (x)
DW_OP_form_tls_address

or

DW_OP_const8u (x)
DW_OP_GNU_push_tls_address

The "x" is allowed to be anything that is needed to determine the location of the variable. For Linux "x" is the offset within the TLS data for a given executable (ModuleSP in LLDB). For Apple OS variants, it is the file address of the data structure that contains a pthread key that can be used with pthread_getspecific() and the offset needed.

This fix passes the "x" along to the thread:

virtual lldb::addr_t
lldb_private::Thread::GetThreadLocalData(const lldb::ModuleSP module, lldb::addr_t tls_file_addr);

Then this is passed along to the DynamicLoader::GetThreadLocalData():

virtual lldb::addr_t
lldb_private::DynamicLoader::GetThreadLocalData(const lldb::ModuleSP module, const lldb::ThreadSP thread, lldb::addr_t tls_file_addr);

This allows each DynamicLoader plug-in do the right thing for the current OS.

The DynamicLoaderMacOSXDYLD was modified to be able to grab the pthread key from the data structure that is in memory and call "void *pthread_getspecific(pthread_key_t key)" to get the value of the thread local storage and it caches it per thread since it never changes.

I had to update the test case to access the thread local data before trying to print it as on Apple OS variants, thread locals are not available unless they have been accessed at least one by the current thread.

I also added a new lldb::ValueType named "eValueTypeVariableThreadLocal" so that we can ask SBValue objects for their ValueType and be able to tell when we have a thread local variable.

Greg Clayton c44bcec6e1 LLDB top of tree SVN fails to attach to a MacOSX native process by pid only (no executable).
The problem was that the static DynamicLoaderDarwinKernel::Initialize() was recently changed to come before DynamicLoaderMacOSXDYLD::Initialize() which caused the DynamicLoaderDarwinKernel::CreateInstance(...) to be called before DynamicLoaderMacOSXDYLD::CreateInstance(...) and DynamicLoaderDarwinKernel would claim it could be the dynamic loader for a user space MacOSX process. The fix is to make DynamicLoaderDarwinKernel::CreateInstance() a bit more thourough when vetting the process so that it doesn't claim MacOSX user space processes.

Greg Clayton 99558cc424 Final bit of type system cleanup that abstracts declaration contexts into lldb_private::CompilerDeclContext and renames ClangType to CompilerType in many accessors and functions.
Create a new "lldb_private::CompilerDeclContext" class that will replace all direct uses of "clang::DeclContext" when used in compiler agnostic code, yet still allow for conversion to clang::DeclContext subclasses by clang specific code. This completes the abstraction of type parsing by removing all "clang::" references from the SymbolFileDWARF. The new "lldb_private::CompilerDeclContext" class abstracts decl contexts found in compiler type systems so they can be used in internal API calls. The TypeSystem is required to support CompilerDeclContexts with new pure virtual functions that start with "DeclContext" in the member function names. Converted all code that used lldb_private::ClangNamespaceDecl over to use the new CompilerDeclContext class and removed the ClangNamespaceDecl.cpp and ClangNamespaceDecl.h files.

Removed direct use of clang APIs from SBType and now use the abstract type systems to correctly explore types.

Bulk renames for things that used to return a ClangASTType which is now CompilerType:

    "Type::GetClangFullType()" to "Type::GetFullCompilerType()"
    "Type::GetClangLayoutType()" to "Type::GetLayoutCompilerType()"
    "Type::GetClangForwardType()" to "Type::GetForwardCompilerType()"
    "Value::GetClangType()" to "Value::GetCompilerType()"
    "Value::SetClangType (const CompilerType &)" to "Value::SetCompilerType (const CompilerType &)"
    "ValueObject::GetClangType ()" to "ValueObject::GetCompilerType()"

For Hexagon we want to be able to call functions during debugging, however currently lldb only supports this when there is JIT support.
Although emulation using IR interpretation is an alternative, it is currently limited in that it can't make function calls.

In this patch we have extended the IR interpreter so that it can execute a function call on the target using register manipulation.
To do this we need to handle the Call IR instruction, passing arguments to a new thread plan and collecting any return values to pass back into the IR interpreter.

The new thread plan is needed to call an alternative ABI interface of "ABI::PerpareTrivialCall()", allowing more detailed information about arguments and return values.

Jason Molenda 20ee21bde6 Add a another packet to the gdb-remote protocol,
jGetLoadedDynamicLibrariesInfos. This packet is similar to
qXfer:libraries:read except that lldb supplies the number of solibs
that should be reported about, and the start address for the list
of them. At the initial process launch we'll read the full list
of solibs linked by the process -- at this point we could be using
qXfer:libraries:read -- but on subsequence solib-loaded notifications,
we'll be fetching a smaller number of solibs, often only one or two.

A typical Mac/iOS GUI app may have a couple hundred different
solibs loaded - doing all of the loads via memory reads takes
a couple of megabytes of traffic between lldb and debugserver.
Having debugserver summarize the load addresses of all the solibs
and sending it in JSON requires a couple of hundred kilobytes
of traffic. It's a significant performance improvement when
communicating over a slower channel.

This patch leaves all of the logic for loading the libraries
in DynamicLoaderMacOSXDYLD -- it only call over ot ProcesGDBRemote
to get the JSON result.

If the jGetLoadedDynamicLibrariesInfos packet is not implemented,
the normal technique of using memory read packets to get all of
the details from the target will be used.

Summary:
This commit moves the Windows DyanamicLoader to the common DynamicLoader

plugins) so that we can automatically instantiate this class when
connected to a windows process.

Greg Clayton 358cf1ea30 Resubmitting 240466 after fixing the linux test suite failures.
A few extras were fixed

- Symbol::GetAddress() now returns an Address object, not a reference. There were places where people were accessing the address of a symbol when the symbol's value wasn't an address symbol. On MacOSX, undefined symbols have a value zero and some places where using the symbol's address and getting an absolute address of zero (since an Address object with no section and an m_offset whose value isn't LLDB_INVALID_ADDRESS is considered an absolute address). So fixing this required some changes to make sure people were getting what they expected.
- Since some places want to access the address as a reference, I added a few new functions to symbol:
    Address &Symbol::GetAddressRef();
    const Address &Symbol::GetAddressRef() const;

Linux test suite passes just fine now.

Zachary Turner 32abc6edac Reduce header footprint of Target.h
This continues the effort to reduce header footprint and improve
build speed by removing clang and other unnecessary headers
from Target.h. In one case, some headers were included solely
for the purpose of declaring a nested class in Target, which was
not needed by anybody outside the class. In this case the
definition and implementation of the nested class were isolated
in the .cpp file so the header could be removed.

Greg Clayton 08928f308b Don't wait for the dynamic loader to set a module as a dynamic link editor, figure it out through the ObjectFile.
Background: dyld binaries often have extra symbols in their symbol table like "malloc" and "free" for the early bringup of dyld and we often don't want to set breakpoints in dynamic linker binaries. We also don't want to call the "malloc" or "free" function in dyld when a user writes an expression like "(void *)malloc(123)" so we need to avoid doing name lookups in dyld. We mark Modules as being dynamic link editors and this helps do correct lookups for breakpoints by name and function lookups.

Stephane Sezer 765fcc0d5b Use basename of main executable in POSIX-DYLD on Android.
Summary:
The Android dynamic linker reports only the basename of each SO entry, so for
the above check to be successful, we need to compare it to the basename of the
main executable.

This also has a nasty side-effect when working with older version of
Android (verified on platform version 16), and debugging PIE
executables: the dynamic linker has a bug and reports the load address
of the main executable (which is a shared object, because PIE) to be 0.
We then try to update the list of loaded sections for all shared
objects, including the main executable, and set the load address to 0,
which breaks everything that relies on resolving addresses in the main
executable (breakpoints, stepping, etc). This commit also fixes that broken
behavior when debugging on older Androids. This bug doesn't happen on newer
Android versions (verified for Android L).

Todd Fiala 952bccd212 POSIX dynamic loader: add more logging around launch/attach, fix breakpoint handling on entry callback.
This change adds some logging around dynamic loader handling.
It also fixes an issue where the dynamic loader entry breakpoint can end
up being re-inserted, showing the wrong (i.e. software breakpoint) instruction
at the stop location when a backtrace is displayed at program startup.

I discussed with Jim Ingham a few weeks back. Essentially the
one-hit breakpoints need to make it back to public state handling before
the software breakpoint gets cleared. The flow I was hitting was that
the breakpoint would get set, it would get hit, it would get cleared to
step over, then it would get reapplied, when we never wanted it reapplied.
Stops at the beginning of execution would then show backtraces with
software breakpoint instructions in it, erroneously. This change fixes it.
There might be a more elegant way to do this, or a flow change somewhere else
to avoid, but it does fix an issue I experienced in startup breakpoint handling.
