Nemanja Ivanovic d7d45bf8ce Revert 266186 as it breaks anything that includes type_traits on some platforms
Since this patch provided support for the __float128 type but disabled it
on all platforms by default, some platforms can't compile type_traits with
-std=gnu++11 since there is a specialization with __float128.
This reverts the patch until D19125 is approved (i.e. we know which platforms
need this support enabled).

Nemanja Ivanovic 50f29e06a1 Enable support for __float128 in Clang
This patch corresponds to review:
http://reviews.llvm.org/D15120

It adds support for the __float128 keyword, literals and a target feature to
enable it. This support is disabled by default on all targets and any target
that has support for this type is free to add it.

Based on feedback that I've received from target maintainers, this appears to
be the right thing for most targets. I have not heard from the maintainers of
X86 which I believe supports this type. I will subsequently investigate the
impact of enabling this on X86.

Alexey Bader 954ba21f85 [OpenCL] Complete image types support.
I. Current implementation of images is not conformant to spec in the following points:
  1. It makes no distinction with respect to access qualifiers and therefore allows to use images with different access type interchangeably. The following code would compile just fine:

        void write_image(write_only image2d_t img);
        kernel void foo(read_only image2d_t img) { write_image(img); } // Accepted code

     which is disallowed according to s6.13.14.

  2. It discards access qualifier on generated code, which leads to generated code for the above example:

        call void @write_image(%opencl.image2d_t* %img);

     In OpenCL2.0 however we can have different calls into write_image with read_only and wite_only images.
     Also generally following compiler steps have no easy way to take different path depending on the image access: linking to the right implementation of image types, performing IR opts and backend codegen differently.

  3. Image types are language keywords and can't be redeclared s6.1.9, which can happen currently as they are just typedef names.
  4. Default access qualifier read_only is to be added if not provided explicitly.

II. This patch corrects the above points as follows:
  1. All images are encapsulated into a separate .def file that is inserted in different points where image handling is required. This avoid a lot of code repetition as all images are handled the same way in the code with no distinction of their exact type.
  2. The Cartesian product of image types and image access qualifiers is added to the builtin types. This simplifies a lot handling of access type mismatch as no operations are allowed by default on distinct Builtin types. Also spec intended access qualifier as special type qualifier that are combined with an image type to form a distinct type (see statement above - images can't be created w/o access qualifiers).
  3. Improves testing of images in Clang.

Alexey Bataev 587e1de4ea [OPENMP 4.0] Initial support for '#pragma omp declare simd' directive.
Initial parsing/sema/serialization/deserialization support for '#pragma
omp declare simd' directive.
The 'declare simd' construct can be applied to a function to enable the
creation of one or more versions that can process multiple arguments
using SIMD instructions from a single invocation from a SIMD loop.
If the function has any declarations, then the declare simd construct
for any declaration that has one must be equivalent to the one specified
 for the definition. Otherwise, the result is unspecified.
This pragma can be applied many times to the same declaration.
Internally this pragma is represented as an attribute. But we need special processing for this pragma because it must be used before function declaration, this directive is applied to.

Alexey Bataev 94a4f0cb5f [OPENMP 4.0] Initial support for 'omp declare reduction' construct.
Add parsing, sema analysis and serialization/deserialization for 'declare reduction' construct.
User-defined reductions are defined as

#pragma omp declare reduction( reduction-identifier : typename-list : combiner ) [initializer ( initializer-expr )]
These custom reductions may be used in 'reduction' clauses of OpenMP constructs. The combiner specifies how partial results can be combined into a single value. The
combiner can use the special variable identifiers omp_in and omp_out that are of the type of the variables being reduced with this reduction-identifier. Each of them will
denote one of the values to be combined before executing the combiner. It is assumed that the special omp_out identifier will refer to the storage that holds the resulting
combined value after executing the combiner.
As the initializer-expr value of a user-defined reduction is not known a priori the initializer-clause can be used to specify one. Then the contents of the initializer-clause
will be used as the initializer for private copies of reduction list items where the omp_priv identifier will refer to the storage to be initialized. The special identifier
omp_orig can also appear in the initializer-clause and it will refer to the storage of the original variable to be reduced.

When deploying back to a platform version prior to when the declaration was

A member is added to the end of AttributeList to save the location of the

(it might be nice if "makeArrayRef" always produced a MutableArrayRef &

Nico Weber 7b837f578a Include RecordDecls from anonymous unions in the AST.
For

  void f() {
    union { int i; };
  }

clang used to omit the RecordDecl from the anonymous union from the AST.
That's because the code creating it only called PushOnScopeChains(), which adds
it to the current DeclContext, which here is the function's DeclContext. But
RecursiveASTVisitor doesn't descent into all decls in a FunctionDecl.

Instead, for DeclContexts that contain statements, return the RecordDecl so
that it can be included in the DeclStmt containing the VarDecl for the union.

Interesting bits from the AST before this change:

|-FunctionDecl
| `-CompoundStmt
|   |-DeclStmt
|   | `-VarDecl 0x589cd60 <col:3> col:3 implicit used 'union (anonymous at test.cc:3:3)' callinit

After this change:

-FunctionDecl
| `-CompoundStmt
|   |-DeclStmt
|   | |-CXXRecordDecl 0x4612e48 <col:3, col:18> col:3 union definition
|   | | |-FieldDecl 0x4612f70 <col:11, col:15> col:15 referenced i 'int'
|   | `-VarDecl 0x4613010 <col:3> col:3 implicit used 'union (anonymous at test.cc:3:3)' callinit

This is now closer to how anonymous struct and unions are represented as
members of structs. It also enabled deleting some one-off code in the
template instantiation code.

Finally, it fixes a crash with ASTMatchers, see the included test case
(this fixes http://crbug.com/580749).

code wrapping C libraries, where the C library is #included within a namespace

Without modules, this setup is harmless if (and *only* if) the corresponding

downgrade the error to a default-error extension in that case, so that it can

Richard Smith e301ba2b48 Add support for GCC's '__auto_type' extension, per the GCC manual:
https://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc/Typeof.html

Differences from the GCC extension:
 * __auto_type is also permitted in C++ (but only in places where
   it could appear in C), allowing its use in headers that might
   be shared across C and C++, or used from C++98
 * __auto_type can be combined with a declarator, as with C++ auto
   (for instance, "__auto_type *p")
 * multiple variables can be declared in a single __auto_type
   declaration, with the C++ semantics (the deduced type must be
   the same in each case)

This patch also adds a missing restriction on applying typeof to
a bit-field, which GCC has historically rejected in C (due to
lack of clarity as to whether the operand should be promoted).
The same restriction also applies to __auto_type in C (in both
GCC and Clang).

This also fixes PR25449.

David Majnemer 51fd8a020b [MS Compat] Allow _Atomic(Type) and 'struct _Atomic' to coexist
MSVC 2013 ships, as part of its STL implementation, a class named
'_Atomic'. This is unfortunate because this keyword is in conflict with
the C11 keyword with the same name. Our solution was to disable this
keyword when targeting MSVC 2013 and reenable it for 2015.

However, this makes it impossible for clang's headers to make use of
_Atomic. This is problematic in the case of libc++ as it makes heavy
use of this keyword.

Let the keywordness of _Atomic float under certain circumstances:
the body of a class named _Atomic, or a class with a base specifier
named _Atomic, will not have the keyword variant of _Atomic for the
duration of the class body. This is sufficient to allow us to correctly
handle _Atomic in the STL while permitting us to use _Atomic as a
keyword everywhere else.

Clang used to silently ignore __declspec(novtable). It is implemented
now, but leaving the vtable uninitialized does not work when using the
Itanium ABI, where the class layout for complex class hierarchies is
stored in the vtable. It might be possible to honor the novtable
attribute in some simple cases and either report an error or ignore
it in more complex situations, but it’s not clear if that would be
worthwhile. There is also value in having a simple and predictable
behavior, so this changes clang to simply ignore novtable when not using

Ulrich Weigand ef5aa29e12 Support alternate attribute spelling __enable_if__
Attribute names usually support an alternate spelling that uses double
underscores before and after the attribute name, like e.g. attribute
((__aligned__)) for attribute ((aligned)). This is necessary to allow
use of attributes in system headers without polluting the name space.

However, for attribute ((enable_if)) that alternate spelling does not
work correctly. This is because of code in Parser::ParseGNUAttributeArgs
(ParseDecl.cpp) that specifically checks for the "enable_if" spelling
without allowing the alternate spelling.

Similar code in ParseDecl.cpp uses the normalizeAttrName helper to allow
both spellings. This patch adds use of that helper for the "enable_if"
check as well, which fixes attribute ((__enable_if__)).

The __kindof type qualifier can be applied to Objective-C object

Douglas Gregor e83b95641f Substitute type arguments into uses of Objective-C interface members.
When messaging a method that was defined in an Objective-C class (or
category or extension thereof) that has type parameters, substitute
the type arguments for those type parameters. Similarly, substitute
into property accesses, instance variables, and other references.

This includes general infrastructure for substituting the type
arguments associated with an ObjCObject(Pointer)Type into a type
referenced within a particular context, handling all of the
substitutions required to deal with (e.g.) inheritance involving
parameterized classes. In cases where no type arguments are available
(e.g., because we're messaging via some unspecialized type, id, etc.),
we substitute in the type bounds for the type parameters instead.

Example:

  @interface NSSet<T : id<NSCopying>> : NSObject <NSCopying>
  - (T)firstObject;
  @end

  void f(NSSet<NSString *> *stringSet, NSSet *anySet) {
    [stringSet firstObject]; // produces NSString*
    [anySet firstObject]; // produces id<NSCopying> (the bound)

When substituting for the type parameters given an unspecialized
context (i.e., no specific type arguments were given), substituting
the type bounds unconditionally produces type signatures that are too
strong compared to the pre-generics signatures. Instead, use the
following rule:

  - In covariant positions, such as method return types, replace type
    parameters with “id” or “Class” (the latter only when the type
    parameter bound is “Class” or qualified class, e.g,
    “Class<NSCopying>”)
  - In other positions (e.g., parameter types), replace type
    parameters with their type bounds.
  - When a specialized Objective-C object or object pointer type
    contains a type parameter in its type arguments (e.g.,
    NSArray<T>*, but not NSArray<NSString *> *), replace the entire
    object/object pointer type with its unspecialized version (e.g.,
    NSArray *).

Douglas Gregor e9d95f1ecc Handle Objective-C type arguments.
Objective-C type arguments can be provided in angle brackets following
an Objective-C interface type. Syntactically, this is the same
position as one would provide protocol qualifiers (e.g.,
id<NSCopying>), so parse both together and let Sema sort out the
ambiguous cases. This applies both when parsing types and when parsing
the superclass of an Objective-C class, which can now be a specialized
type (e.g., NSMutableArray<T> inherits from NSArray<T>).

Check Objective-C type arguments against the type parameters of the
corresponding class. Verify the length of the type argument list and
that each type argument satisfies the corresponding bound.

Specializations of parameterized Objective-C classes are represented
in the type system as distinct types. Both specialized types (e.g.,
NSArray<NSString *> *) and unspecialized types (NSArray *) are
represented, separately.

Meador Inge f0af05c4a5 [Parse] Allow 'constexpr' in condition declarations
This patch implements the functionality specified by DR948.
The changes are two fold. First, the parser was modified
to allow 'constexpr's to appear in condition declarations
(which was a hard error before). Second, Sema was modified
to cleanup maybe odr-used declarations by way of a call to
'ActOnFinishFullExpr'. As 'constexpr's were not allowed in
condition declarations before the cleanup wasn't necessary
(such declarations were always odr-used).

This fixes PR22491.

Douglas Gregor 261a89b0f7 Introduce type nullability specifiers for C/C++.
Introduces the type specifiers __nonnull, __nullable, and
__null_unspecified that describe the nullability of the pointer type
to which the specifier appertains. Nullability type specifiers improve
on the existing nonnull attributes in a few ways:
  - They apply to types, so one can represent a pointer to a non-null
    pointer, use them in function pointer types, etc.
  - As type specifiers, they are syntactically more lightweight than
    __attribute__s or [[attribute]]s.
  - They can express both the notion of 'should never be null' and
  also 'it makes sense for this to be null', and therefore can more
  easily catch errors of omission where one forgot to annotate the
  nullability of a particular pointer (this will come in a subsequent
  patch).

Nullability type specifiers are maintained as type sugar, and
therefore have no effect on mangling, encoding, overloading,
etc. Nonetheless, they will be used for warnings about, e.g., passing
'null' to a method that does not accept it.

This is the C/C++ part of rdar://problem/18868820.

The first part of that line doesn't parse correctly and ParseClassSpecifier() for
some reason skips to tok::comma to recover, and then
ParseDeclarationSpecifiers() sees the next struct and calls
ParseClassSpecifier() again with the same DeclSpec object.

However, the first call already called ActOnCXXGlobalScopeSpecifier() on the
DeclSpec's CXXScopeSpec, and sema gets confused when this gets called again.

As a fix, let ParseClassSpecifier() (and ParseEnumSpecifier()) call
ParseOptionalCXXScopeSpec() with a temporary CXXScopeSpec object, and only
copy it into the DeclSpec if things work out. (This is also how all the other
functions that set the DeclSpec's TypeSpecScope set it.)

Fix this by only setting the start of the range, not the end. This way

headers such as GNU libc.

Implement a -Wkeyword-compat extension warning to diagnose those cases. The

can however be enabled globally to aid standards conformance testing.

This also changes the __uptr keyword avoidance from r195710 to no longer
special-case system headers, bringing it in line with other similar workarounds
in clang.

Implementation returns bool for symmetry with token annotation functions.

Some examples:

Specifically, the following features are not included in this commit:
  - any sort of capturing within generic lambdas
  - generic lambdas within template functions and nested
    within other generic lambdas
  - conversion operator for captureless lambdas
  - ensuring all visitors are generic lambda aware
  (Although I have gotten some useful feedback on my patches of the above and will be incorporating that as I submit those patches for commit)

As an example of what compiles through this commit:

template <class F1, class F2>
struct overload : F1, F2 {
    using F1::operator();
    using F2::operator();
    overload(F1 f1, F2 f2) : F1(f1), F2(f2) { }
  };

  auto Recursive = [](auto Self, auto h, auto ... rest) {
    return 1 + Self(Self, rest...);
  };
  auto Base = [](auto Self, auto h) {
      return 1;
  };
  overload<decltype(Base), decltype(Recursive)> O(Base, Recursive);
  int num_params =  O(O, 5, 3, "abc", 3.14, 'a');

Please see attached tests for more examples.

This patch has been reviewed by Doug and Richard. Minor changes (non-functionality affecting) have been made since both of them formally looked at it, but the changes involve removal of supernumerary return type deduction changes (since they are now redundant, with richard having committed a recent patch to address return type deduction for C++11 lambdas using C++14 semantics).

Some implementation notes:

  - Add a new Declarator context => LambdaExprParameterContext to
    clang::Declarator to allow the use of 'auto' in declaring generic
    lambda parameters

  - Add various helpers to CXXRecordDecl to facilitate identifying
    and querying a closure class

  - LambdaScopeInfo (which maintains the current lambda's Sema state)
    was augmented to house the current depth of the template being
    parsed (id est the Parser calls Sema::RecordParsingTemplateParameterDepth)
    so that SemaType.cpp::ConvertDeclSpecToType may use it to immediately
    generate a template-parameter-type when 'auto' is parsed in a generic
    lambda parameter context. (i.e we do NOT use AutoType deduced to
    a template parameter type - Richard seemed ok with this approach).
    We encode that this template type was generated from an auto by simply
    adding $auto to the name which can be used for better diagnostics if needed.

  - SemaLambda.h was added to hold some common lambda utility
    functions (this file is likely to grow ...)

  - Teach Sema::ActOnStartOfFunctionDef to check whether it
    is being called to instantiate a generic lambda's call
    operator, and if so, push an appropriately prepared
    LambdaScopeInfo object on the stack.

  - various tests were added - but much more will be needed.

There is obviously more work to be done, and both Richard (weakly) and Doug (strongly)
have requested that LambdaExpr be removed form the CXXRecordDecl LambdaDefinitionaData
in a future patch which is forthcoming.

A greatful thanks to all reviewers including Eli Friedman, James Dennett,
and especially the two gracious wizards (Richard Smith and Doug Gregor)
who spent hours providing feedback (in person in Chicago and on the mailing lists).
And yet I am certain that I have allowed unidentified bugs to creep in; bugs, that I will do my best to slay, once identified!

Thanks!

Richard Smith 1fff95c702 PR13657 (and duplicates):
When a comma occurs in a default argument or default initializer within a
class, disambiguate whether it is part of the initializer or whether it ends
the initializer.

The way this works (which I will be proposing for standardization) is to treat
the comma as ending the default argument or default initializer if the
following token sequence matches the syntactic constraints of a
parameter-declaration-clause or init-declarator-list (respectively).

This is both consistent with the disambiguation rules elsewhere (where entities
are treated as declarations if they can be), and should have no regressions
over our old behavior. I think it might also disambiguate all cases correctly,
but I don't have a proof of that.

There is an annoyance here: because we're performing a tentative parse in a
situation where we may not have seen declarations of all relevant entities (if
the comma is part of the initializer, lookup may find entites declared later in
the class), we need to turn off typo-correction and diagnostics during the
tentative parse, and in the rare case that we decide the comma is part of the
initializer, we need to revert all token annotations we performed while
disambiguating.

Any diagnostics that occur outside of the immediate context of the tentative
parse (for instance, if we trigger the implicit instantiation of a class
template) are *not* suppressed, mirroring the usual rules for a SFINAE context.

Some implementation notes:

  - Add a new Declarator context => LambdaExprParameterContext to
    clang::Declarator to allow the use of 'auto' in declaring generic
    lambda parameters

  - Augment AutoType's constructor (similar to how variadic
    template-type-parameters ala TemplateTypeParmDecl are implemented) to
    accept an IsParameterPack to encode a generic lambda parameter pack.

  - Add various helpers to CXXRecordDecl to facilitate identifying
    and querying a closure class

  - LambdaScopeInfo (which maintains the current lambda's Sema state)
    was augmented to house the current depth of the template being
    parsed (id est the Parser calls Sema::RecordParsingTemplateParameterDepth)
    so that Sema::ActOnLambdaAutoParameter may use it to create the
    appropriate list of corresponding TemplateTypeParmDecl for each
    auto parameter identified within the generic lambda (also stored
    within the current LambdaScopeInfo).  Additionally,
    a TemplateParameterList data-member was added to hold the invented
    TemplateParameterList AST node which will be much more useful
    once we teach TreeTransform how to transform generic lambdas.

  - Teach Sema::ActOnStartOfLambdaDefinition to set the
    return type of a lambda without a trailing return type
    to 'auto' in C++1y mode, and teach the return type
    deduction machinery in SemaStmt.cpp to process either
    C++11 and C++14 lambda's correctly depending on the flag.

  - various tests were added - but much more will be needed.

Bill Schmidt 99a084b7ae "bool" should be a context-sensitive keyword in Altivec mode.
PR16456 reported that Clang implements a hybrid between AltiVec's
"Keyword and Predefine Method" and its "Context Sensitive Keyword
Method," where "bool" is always a keyword, but "vector" and "pixel"
are context-sensitive keywords. This isn't permitted by the AltiVec
spec. For consistency with gcc, this patch implements the Context
Sensitive Keyword Method for bool, and stops treating true and false
as keywords in Altivec mode.

The patch removes KEYALTIVEC as a trigger for defining these keywords
in include/clang/Basic/TokenKinds.def, and adds logic for "vector
bool" that mirrors the existing logic for "vector pixel." The test
case is taken from the bug report.

David Blaikie 7d17010db5 Use only explicit bool conversion operator
The most common (non-buggy) case are where such objects are used as
return expressions in bool-returning functions or as boolean function
arguments. In those cases I've used (& added if necessary) a named
function to provide the equivalent (or sometimes negative, depending on
convenient wording) test.

DiagnosticBuilder kept its implicit conversion operator owing to the
prevalent use of it in return statements.

One bug was found in ExprConstant.cpp involving a comparison of two
PointerUnions (PointerUnion did not previously have an operator==, so
instead both operands were converted to bool & then compared). A test
is included in test/SemaCXX/constant-expression-cxx1y.cpp for the fix
(adding operator== to PointerUnion in LLVM).

Douglas Gregor d2472d4cdb Use attribute argument information to determine when to parse attribute arguments as expressions.
This change partly addresses a heinous problem we have with the
parsing of attribute arguments that are a lone identifier. Previously,
we would end up parsing the 'align' attribute of this as an expression
"(Align)":

 template<unsigned Size, unsigned Align>
 class my_aligned_storage
 {
   __attribute__((align((Align)))) char storage[Size];
 };

while this would parse as a "parameter name" 'Align':

 template<unsigned Size, unsigned Align>
 class my_aligned_storage
 {
   __attribute__((align(Align))) char storage[Size];
 };

The code that handles the alignment attribute would completely ignore
the parameter name, so the while the first of these would do what's
expected, the second would silently be equivalent to

 template<unsigned Size, unsigned Align>
 class my_aligned_storage
 {
   __attribute__((align)) char storage[Size];
 };

i.e., use the maximal alignment rather than the specified alignment.

Address this by sniffing the "Args" provided in the TableGen
description of attributes. If the first argument is "obviously"
something that should be treated as an expression (rather than an
identifier to be matched later), parse it as an expression.

Fixes <rdar://problem/13700933>.

Dmitri Gribenko d1c91f1763 Accept over-qualified constructor in MSVC emulation mode
MSVC accepts this:

class A {
  A::A();
};

Clang accepts regular member functions with extra qualification as an MS
extension, but not constructors. This changes the parser to defer rejecting
qualified constructors so that the same Sema logic can apply to constructors as
regular member functions. This also improves the error message when MS
extensions are disabled (in my opinion). Before it was:

/Users/jason/Desktop/test.cpp:2:8: error: expected member name or ';' after declaration specifiers
  A::A();
  ~~~~ ^
1 error generated.
After:
/Users/jason/Desktop/test.cpp:2:6: error: extra qualification on member 'A'
  A::A();
  ~~~^
1 error generated.

Patch by Jason Haslam.

Jordan Rose a7d03840e6 Excise <cctype> from Clang (except clang-tblgen) in favor of CharInfo.h.
Nearly all of these changes are one-to-one replacements; the few that
aren't have to do with custom identifier validation.

Richard Smith 810ad3eb44 Downgrade 'attribute ignored when parsing type' from error to warning, to match
the diagnostic's warn_ name. Switch some places (notably C++11 attributes)
which really wanted an error over to a different diagnostic. Finally, suppress
the diagnostic entirely for __ptr32, __ptr64 and __w64, to avoid producing
diagnostics in important system headers.

pretty-print them properly (modulo the more general badness in alignment
attribute printing).

Richard Smith 0cdcc98200 Replace AS_MSTypespec with AS_Keyword, for representing any attribute spelled
as a keyword. Rationalize existing attributes to use it as appropriate, and to
not lie about some __declspec attributes being GNU attributes. In passing,
remove a gross hack which was discarding attributes which we could handle. This
results in us actually respecting the __pascal keyword again.

Richard Smith e233fbfc16 Finish semantic analysis for [[carries_dependency]] attribute.
This required plumbing through a new flag to determine whether a ParmVarDecl is
actually a parameter of a function declaration (as opposed to a function
typedef etc, where the attribute is prohibited). Weirdly, this attribute (just
like [[noreturn]]) cannot be applied to a function type, just to a function
declaration (and its parameters).

Richard Trieu 9c67267a7b Give a more informative error message when the dot or arrow operator is used
on a type. Currently, it gives a generic "expected unqualified-id" error.
The new error message is "cannot use (dot|arrow) operator on a type".
