Adrian McCarthy 14dde438d6 With MSVC, file needs to be compiled with /BIGOBJ
MSVC, by default, limits the number of sections generated by a single
translation unit to 2^16. In a debug build, each function or method
can require 4 sections, so it's not uncommon to hit it.

I saw the problem when building tests for LLDB (but, interestingly, not
for LLDB itself).

Dmitri Gribenko 5689b38c6a Removed a RecursiveASTVisitor feature to visit operator kinds with different methods
Summary:
This feature was only used in two places, but contributed a non-trivial
amount to the complexity of RecursiveASTVisitor, and was buggy (see my
recent patches where I was fixing the bugs that I noticed). I don't
think the convenience benefit of this feature is worth the complexity.

Besides complexity, another issue with the current state of
RecursiveASTVisitor is the non-uniformity in how it handles different
AST nodes. All AST nodes follow a regular pattern, but operators are
special -- and this special behavior not documented. Correct usage of
RecursiveASTVisitor relies on shadowing member functions with specific
names and signatures. Near misses don't cause any compile-time errors,
incorrectly named or typed methods are just silently ignored. Therefore,
predictability of RecursiveASTVisitor API is quite important.

This change reduces the size of the `clang` binary by 38 KB (0.2%) in
release mode, and by 7 MB (0.3%) in debug mode. The `clang-tidy` binary
is reduced by 205 KB (0.3%) in release mode, and by 5 MB (0.4%) in debug
mode. I don't think these code size improvements are significant enough
to justify this change on its own (for me, the primary motivation is
reducing code complexity), but they I think are a nice side-effect.

Valentin Clement d90443b1d9 [openmp] Base of tablegen generated OpenMP common declaration
Summary:
As discussed previously when landing patch for OpenMP in Flang, the idea is
to share common part of the OpenMP declaration between the different Frontend.
While doing this it was thought that moving to tablegen instead of Macros will also
give a cleaner and more powerful way of generating these declaration.
This first part of a future series of patches is setting up the base .td file for
DirectiveLanguage as well as the OpenMP version of it. The base file is meant to
be used by other directive language such as OpenACC.
In this first patch, the Directive and Clause enums are generated with tablegen
instead of the macros on OMPConstants.h. The next pacth will extend this
to other enum and move the Flang frontend to use it.

Bruno Ricci e64aee87a0 [AST] Update the comments of the various Expr::Ignore* + Related cleanups
The description of what the various Expr::Ignore* do has drifted from the
actual implementation.

Inspection reveals that IgnoreParenImpCasts() is not equivalent to doing
IgnoreParens() + IgnoreImpCasts() until reaching a fixed point, but
IgnoreParenCasts() is equivalent to doing IgnoreParens() + IgnoreCasts()
until reaching a fixed point. There is also a fair amount of duplication
in the various Expr::Ignore* functions which increase the chance of further
future inconsistencies. In preparation for the next patch which will factor
out the implementation of the various Expr::Ignore*, do the following cleanups:

Remove Stmt::IgnoreImplicit, in favor of Expr::IgnoreImplicit. IgnoreImplicit
is the only function among all of the Expr::Ignore* which is available in Stmt.
There are only a few users of Stmt::IgnoreImplicit. They can just use instead
Expr::IgnoreImplicit like they have to do for the other Ignore*.

Move Expr::IgnoreImpCasts() from Expr.h to Expr.cpp. This made no difference
in the run-time with my usual benchmark (-fsyntax-only on all of Boost).

While we are at it, make IgnoreParenNoopCasts take a const reference to the
ASTContext for const correctness.

Update the comments to match what the Expr::Ignore* are actually doing.
I am not sure that listing exactly what each Expr::Ignore* do is optimal,
but it certainly looks better than the current state which is in my opinion
between misleading and just plain wrong.

The whole patch is NFC (if you count removing Stmt::IgnoreImplicit as NFC).

We understand that people may be surprised that we're moving the header

Essentially, all code in the project is now made available by the LLVM
project under our new license, so you will see that the license headers
include that license only. Some of our contributors have contributed
code under our old license, and accordingly, we have retained a copy of
our old license notice in the top-level files in each project and

Erich Keane 0a6b5b653e PTH-- Remove feature entirely-
When debugging a boost build with a modified
version of Clang, I discovered that the PTH implementation
stores TokenKind in 8 bits. However, we currently have 368
TokenKinds.

The result is that the value gets truncated and the wrong token
gets picked up when including PTH files. It seems that this will
go wrong every time someone uses a token that uses the 9th bit.

Upon asking on IRC, it was brought up that this was a highly
experimental features that was considered a failure. I discovered
via googling that BoostBuild (mostly Boost.Math) is the only user of
this
feature, using the CC1 flag directly. I believe that this can be
transferred over to normal PCH with minimal effort:
https://github.com/boostorg/build/issues/367

Based on advice on IRC and research showing that this is a nearly
completely unused feature, this patch removes it entirely.

Note: I considered leaving the build-flags in place and making them
emit an error/warning, however since I've basically identified and
warned the only user, it seemed better to just remove them.

Reid Kleckner 4dc0b1ac60 Fix clang -Wimplicit-fallthrough warnings across llvm, NFC
This patch should not introduce any behavior changes. It consists of
mostly one of two changes:
1. Replacing fall through comments with the LLVM_FALLTHROUGH macro
2. Inserting 'break' before falling through into a case block consisting
   of only 'break'.

We were already using this warning with GCC, but its warning behaves
slightly differently. In this patch, the following differences are
relevant:
1. GCC recognizes comments that say "fall through" as annotations, clang
   doesn't
2. GCC doesn't warn on "case N: foo(); default: break;", clang does
3. GCC doesn't warn when the case contains a switch, but falls through
   the outer case.

I will enable the warning separately in a follow-up patch so that it can
be cleanly reverted if necessary.

Adrian Prantl 9fc8faf9e6 Remove \brief commands from doxygen comments.
This is similar to the LLVM change https://reviews.llvm.org/D46290.

We've been running doxygen with the autobrief option for a couple of
years now. This makes the \brief markers into our comments
redundant. Since they are a visual distraction and we don't want to
encourage more \brief markers in new code either, this patch removes
them all.

Patch produced by

for i in $(git grep -l '\@brief'); do perl -pi -e 's/\@brief //g' $i & done
for i in $(git grep -l '\\brief'); do perl -pi -e 's/\\brief //g' $i & done
