Kostya Serebryany aed71a89bc Add experimental clang/driver flag -fsanitize-address-field-padding=N
Summary:
This change adds an experimental flag -fsanitize-address-field-padding=N (0, 1, 2)
to clang and driver. With this flag ASAN will be able to detect some cases of
intra-object-overflow bugs,
see https://code.google.com/p/address-sanitizer/wiki/IntraObjectOverflow

There is no actual functionality here yet, just the flag parsing.
The functionality is being reviewed at http://reviews.llvm.org/D5687

Test Plan: Build and run SPEC, LLVM Bootstrap, Chrome with this flag.

David Blaikie 11f8a943bf Fix memory leak of raw_ostreams in LogDiagnosticPrinter handling.
This is another case of conditional ownership (in this case a raw
reference, plus a boolean to indicate whether the referenced object
should be deleted). While it's not ideal, I prefer to make the ownership
explicit with a unique_ptr than using a boolean flag (though it does
make the reference and the unique_ptr redundant in the sense that they
both refer to the same memory). At some point we might write a reusable
conditional ownership pointer (a stateful custom deleter for a unique_ptr
may be appropriate).

Based on a patch from a patch by Anton Yartsev.

Ben Langmuir 5418f40127 Avoid a couple of assertions when preprocessing with modules
1. We were hitting the NextIsPrevious assertion because we were trying
to merge decl chains that were independent of each other because we had
no Sema object to allow them to find existing decls. This is fixed by
delaying loading the "preloaded" decls until Sema is available.

2. We were trying to get identifier info from an annotation token, which
asserts. The fix is to special-case the module annotations in the
preprocessed output printer.

Fixed in a single commit because when you hit 1 you almost invariably
hit 2 as well.

Reid Kleckner e2793c009e -frewrite-includes: Normalize line endings to match the main source file
It is very common to include headers with DOS-style line endings, such
as windows.h, from source files with Unix-style line endings.
Previously, we would end up with mixed line endings and #endifs that
appeared to be on the same line:

  #if 0 /* expanded by -frewrite-includes */
  #include <windows.h>^M#endif /* expanded by -frewrite-includes */

Clang treats either of \r or \n as a line ending character, so this is
purely a cosmetic issue.

This has no automated test because most Unix tools on Windows will
implictly convert CRLF to LF when reading files, making it very hard to
detect line ending mismatches. FileCheck doesn't understand {{\r}}
either.

Fixes PR20552.

Anna Zaks d5478fdd8f Add an option to silence all analyzer warnings.
People have been incorrectly using "-analyzer-disable-checker" to
silence analyzer warnings on a file, when analyzing a project. Add
the "-analyzer-disable-all-checks" option, which would allow the
suppression and suggest it as part of the error message for
"-analyzer-disable-checker". The idea here is to compose this with
"--analyze" so that users can selectively opt out specific files from
static analysis.

David Blaikie a97eaa1bc0 Provide a BuryPointer for unique_ptrs.
In theory, it'd be nice if we could move to a case where all buried
pointers were buried via unique_ptr to demonstrate that the program had
finished with the value (that we could really have cleanly deallocated
it) but instead chose to bury it.

I think the main reason that's not possible right now is the various
IntrusiveRefCntPtrs in the Frontend, sharing ownership for a variety of
compiler bits (see the various similar
"CompilerInstance::releaseAndLeak*" functions). I have yet to figure out
their correct ownership semantics - but perhaps, even if the
intrusiveness can be removed, the shared ownership may yet remain and
that would lead to a non-unique burying as is there today. (though we
could model that a little better - by passing in a shared_ptr, etc -
rather than needing the two step that's currently used in those other
releaseAndLeak* functions)

This might be a bit more robust if BuryPointer took the boolean:

BuryPointer(bool, unique_ptr<T>)

and the choice to bury was made internally - that way, even when
DisableFree was not set, the unique_ptr would still be null in the
caller and there'd be no chance of accidentally having a different
codepath where the value is used after burial in !DisableFree, but it
becomes null only in DisableFree, etc...

David Blaikie d6902a1403 Improve unique_ptr-y ownership in ASTUnit::ComputePreamble
Rather than having a pair of pairs and a reference out parameter, build
a structure with everything together and named. A raw pointer and a
unique_ptr, rather than a raw pointer and a boolean, are used to
communicate ownership transfer.

It's possible one day we'll end up with a conditional pointer (probably
represented by a raw pointer and a boolean) abstraction to use in places
like this. Conditional ownership seems to be coming up more often than
I'd hoped...

Ted Kremenek eeccb30b94 Add support for the static analyzer to synthesize function implementations from external model files.
Currently the analyzer lazily models some functions using 'BodyFarm',
which constructs a fake function implementation that the analyzer
can simulate that approximates the semantics of the function when
it is called. BodyFarm does this by constructing the AST for
such definitions on-the-fly. One strength of BodyFarm
is that all symbols and types referenced by synthesized function
bodies are contextual adapted to the containing translation unit.
The downside is that these ASTs are hardcoded in Clang's own
source code.

A more scalable model is to allow these models to be defined as source
code in separate "model" files and have the analyzer use those
definitions lazily when a function body is needed. Among other things,
it will allow more customization of the analyzer for specific APIs
and platforms.

This patch provides the initial infrastructure for this feature.
It extends BodyFarm to use an abstract API 'CodeInjector' that can be
used to synthesize function bodies. That 'CodeInjector' is
implemented using a new 'ModelInjector' in libFrontend, which lazily
parses a model file and injects the ASTs into the current translation
unit.

Models are currently found by specifying a 'model-path' as an
analyzer option; if no path is specified the CodeInjector is not
used, thus defaulting to the current behavior in the analyzer.

Models currently contain a single function definition, and can
be found by finding the file <function name>.model. This is an
initial starting point for something more rich, but it bootstraps
this feature for future evolution.

This patch was contributed by Gábor Horváth as part of his
Google Summer of Code project.

Some notes:

- This introduces the notion of a "model file" into
FrontendAction and the Preprocessor. This nomenclature
is specific to the static analyzer, but possibly could be
generalized. Essentially these are sources pulled in
  exogenously from the principal translation.

  Preprocessor gets a 'InitializeForModelFile' and
'FinalizeForModelFile' which could possibly be hoisted out
of Preprocessor if Preprocessor exposed a new API to
change the PragmaHandlers and some other internal pieces. This
  can be revisited.

FrontendAction gets a 'isModelParsingAction()' predicate function
used to allow a new FrontendAction to recycle the Preprocessor
and ASTContext. This name could probably be made something
more general (i.e., not tied to 'model files') at the expense
of losing the intent of why it exists. This can be revisited.

- This is a moderate sized patch; it has gone through some amount of
offline code review. Most of the changes to the non-analyzer
parts are fairly small, and would make little sense without
  the analyzer changes.

- Most of the analyzer changes are plumbing, with the interesting
behavior being introduced by ModelInjector.cpp and
  ModelConsumer.cpp.

- The new functionality introduced by this change is off-by-default.
It requires an analyzer config option to enable.

According to the gcc docs, -include uses the current working directory

This patch gets rid of NormalizeIncludePath (which relied on an

David Blaikie 3d95d858f9 Change MemoryBuffer* to MemoryBuffer& parameter to Lexer::ComputePreamble

so const is just redundant - and while I'd personally put const
everywhere, that's not the LLVM Way (see llvm::Type for another example
of an immutable type where "const" is omitted for brevity))

Changing the pointer argument to a reference parameter makes call sites
identical between callers with unique_ptrs or raw pointers, minimizing
the churn in a pending unique_ptr migrations.

Richard Smith 3be1cb294f Use -Rblah, not -Wblah, to control remark diagnostics. This was always the
intent when we added remark support, but was never implemented in the general
case, because the first -R flags didn't need it. (-Rpass= had special handling
to accomodate its argument.)

-Rno-foo, -Reverything, and -Rno-everything can be used to turn off a remark,
or to turn on or off all remarks. Per discussion on cfe-commits, -Weverything
does not affect remarks, and -Reverything does not affect warnings or errors.

The only "real" -R flag we have right now is -Rmodule-build; that flag is
effectively renamed from -Wmodule-build to -Rmodule-build by this change.

-Wpass and -Wno-pass (and their friends) are also renamed to -Rpass and
-Rno-pass by this change; it's not completely clear whether we intended to have
a -Rpass (with no =pattern), but that is unchanged by this commit, other than
the flag name. The default pattern is effectively one which matches no passes.
In future, we may want to make the default pattern be .*, so that -Reverything
works for -Rpass properly.

Ben Langmuir b537a3a651 Add stopgap option -fmodule-implementation-of <name>
This flag specifies that we are building an implementation file of the
module <name>, preventing importing <name> as a module. This does not
consider this to be the 'current module' for the purposes of doing
modular checks like decluse or non-modular-include warnings, unlike
-fmodule-name.

This is needed as a stopgap until:
1) we can resolve relative includes to a VFS-mapped module (or can
safely import a header textually and as part of a module)

and ideally
2) we can safely do incremental rebuilding when implementation files
   import submodules.

Tim Northover 40956e64f2 AArch64: update Clang for merged arm64/aarch64 triples.
The main subtlety here is that the Darwin tools still need to be given "-arch
arm64" rather than "-arch aarch64". Fortunately this already goes via a custom
function to handle weird edge-cases in other architectures, and it tested.

I removed a few arm64_be tests because that really isn't an interesting thing
to worry about. No-one using big-endian is also referring to the target as
arm64 (at least as far as toolchains go). Mostly they date from when arm64 was
a separate target and we *did* need a parallel name simply to test it at all.
Now aarch64_be is sufficient.

Ehsan Akhgari bd927b6457 clang-cl: Flush stdout after writing the /showIncludes output
Summary:
Before this patch, you could get lines in the output such as:
Note: including file: ../../dist/include/js/Tc:/path/to/foo.cpp(1,1) : error(clang): static_assert failed...

This patch ensures that the stdout output from showIncludes won't be garbled
in the terminal like this, and it also helps applications that use the output
to generate dependency information if they happen to capture both stdout and
stderr.

Test Plan:
Tested locally, it's hard to write an automated test for this as
the behavior depends on the buffering of the ostreams.

David Blaikie 1326975496 DebugInfo: Forward HandleTagDeclRequiredDefinition through MultiplexConsumer to fix debug info emission in the presence of plugins.
When plugins are used the Multiplex(AST)Consumer is employed to dispatch
to both the plugin ASTConsumers and the IRGen ASTConsumer. It wasn't
dispatching a critical call for debug info, resulting in plugin users
having a negative debugging experience.

While I'm here, forward a bunch of other missing calls through the
consumer that seem like they should be there.

To test this, use the example plugin (requires plugins and examples) and
split the test case up so that the plugin testing can be done under that
requirement while the non-plugin testing will execute even in builds

Saleem Abdulrasool c68237bc2c Driver: bifurcate extended and basic MSC versioning
This restores the original behaviour of -fmsc-version. The older option
remains as a mechanism for specifying the basic version information. A
secondary option, -fms-compatibility-version permits the user to specify an
extended version to the driver.

The new version takes the value as a dot-separated value rather than the
major * 100 + minor format that -fmsc-version format. This makes it easier to
specify the value as well as a more flexible manner for specifying the value.

Specifying both values is considered an error.

The older parameter is left solely as a driver option, which is normalised into
the newer parameter. This allows us to retain a single code path in the
compiler itself whilst preserving the semantics of the old parameter as well as
avoid having to determine which of two formats are being used by the invocation.

The test changes are due to the fact that the compiler no longer supports the
old option, and is a direct conversion to the new option.

David Majnemer f607234fde Driver: Handle /GR- in a compatible way with MSVC
There are slight differences between /GR- and -fno-rtti which made

-fno-rtti disables dynamic_cast, typeid, and does not emit RTTI related

/GR- does not generate complete object locators and thus will not
reference them in vftables. However, constructs like dynamic_cast and

MemoryBuffers are immutable and the general convention in the LLVM

Diego Novillo 913690c7bc Add new debug kind LocTrackingOnly.
Summary:
This new debug emission kind supports emitting line location
information in all instructions, but stops code generation
from emitting debug info to the final output.

This mode is useful when the backend wants to track source
locations during code generation, but it does not want to
produce debug info. This is currently used by optimization
remarks (-Rpass, -Rpass-missed and -Rpass-analysis).

When one of the -Rpass flags is used, the front end will enable
location tracking, only if no other debug option is enabled.

To prevent debug information from being generated, a new debug
info kind LocTrackingOnly causes DIBuilder::createCompileUnit() to
not emit the llvm.dbg.cu annotation. This blocks final code generation
from generating debug info in the back end.

Saleem Abdulrasool 9d45e77dca Driver: enhance MSC version compatibility
The version information for Visual Studio is spread over multiple variables.
The newer Windows SDK has started making use of some of the extended versioning
variables that were previously undefined. Enhance our compatibility definitions
for these cases.

_MSC_VER is defined to be the Major * 100 + Minor. _MSC_FULL_VER is defined to
be Major * 10000000 + Minor * 100000 + Build. And _MSC_BUILD is the build
revision of the compiler.

Extend the -fmsc-version option in a compatible manner. If the value is the
previous form of MMmm, then we assume that the build number is 0. Otherwise, a
specific build number may be passed by using the form MMmmbbbbb. Due to
bitwidth limitations of the option, it is currently not possible to define a
revision value.

The version information can be passed as either the decimal encoded value
(_MSC_FULL_VER or _MSC_VER) or as a dot-delimited value.

The change to the TextDiagnostic is to deal with the updated encoding of the
version information.

Ben Langmuir dbdc036858 Retry building modules that were compiled by other instances and are out-of-date
When another clang instance builds a module, it may still be considered
"out of date" for the current instance in a couple of cases*. This
patch prevents us from giving spurious errors when compilers race to
build a module by allowing the module load to fail when the pcm was
built by a different compiler instance.

* Cases where a module can be out of date despite just having been
built:

1) There are different -I paths between invocations that result in
finding a different module map file for some dependent module. This is
not an error, and should never be diagnosed.

<rdar://problem/16843887>

2) There are file system races where the headers making up a module are
touched or moved. Although this can sometimes mean trouble, diagnosing
it only during a build-race is worse than useless and we cannot detect
this in general. It is more robust to just rebuild. This was causing
spurious issues in some setups where only the modtime of headers was
bumped during a build.

Alp Toker 27f333d3ad Revert "Devise a package-private means to determine the LLVM version string"
This didn't work out on the build servers. Investigating

This reverts commit r210313.

Alp Toker 420d7ccbac Devise a package-private means to determine the LLVM version string
This will unbreak clang vendor builds as a follow-up to r210238, now that we
can't poke into LLVM's private config.h (nor should the string be exposed by
llvm-config.h).

This hopefully removes for good the last include of LLVM's config.h.

Alp Toker 1d257e1d0a Remove the last remaining llvm/Config/config.h includes
This corrects long-standing misuses of LLVM's internal config.h.

In most cases the public llvm-config.h header was intended and we can now
remove the old hacks thanks to LLVM r210144.

The config.h header is private, won't be installed and should no longer be
included by clang or other modules.

Diego Novillo d23ec94393 Add flags -Rpass-missed and -Rpass-analysis.
Summary:
These two flags are in the same family as -Rpass, but are used in
different situations.

-Rpass-missed is used by optimizers to inform the user when they tried
to apply an optimization but couldn't (or wouldn't).

-Rpass-analysis is used by optimizers to report analysis results back
to the user (e.g., why the transformation could not be applied).

Depends on D3682.

Hans Wennborg a926d84c4b Emit used/dllexport inline method definitions in nested classes (PR19743, PR11170)
The previous code that was supposed to handle this didn't work
since parsing of inline method definitions is delayed to the end
of the outer class definition. Thus, when HandleTagDeclDefinition()
got called for the inner class, the inline functions in that class
had not been parsed yet.

Richard suggested that the way to do this is by handling inline
method definitions through a new ASTConsumer callback.

I really wanted to call ASTContext::DeclMustBeEmitted() instead of
checking for attributes, but doing that causes us to compute linkage,
and then we fail with "error: unsupported: typedef changes linkage
of anonymous type, but linkage was already computed" on tests like
this: (from SemaCXX/undefined-internal.cpp) :-/

  namespace test7 {
    typedef struct {
      void bar();
      void foo() { bar(); }
    } A;
  }

Alexander Kornienko d3b4e08960 Remove limits on the number of fix-it hints and ranges in the DiagnosticsEngine.
Summary:
The limits on the number of fix-it hints and ranges attached to a
diagnostic are arbitrary and don't apply universally to all users of the
DiagnosticsEngine. The way the limits are enforced may lead to diagnostics
generating invalid sets of fixes. I suggest removing the limits, which will also
simplify the implementation.

Eliminate createMainFileID() / createMainFileIDForMemBuffer() utility

Richard Smith 053f6c6c9e If a declaration is loaded, and then a module import adds a redeclaration, then
ensure that querying the first declaration for its most recent declaration
checks for redeclarations from the imported module.

This works as follows:
 * The 'most recent' pointer on a canonical declaration grows a pointer to the
external AST source and a generation number (space- and time-optimized for
the case where there is no external source).
 * Each time the 'most recent' pointer is queried, if it has an external source,
we check whether it's up to date, and update it if not.
 * The ancillary data stored on the canonical declaration is allocated lazily
to avoid filling it in for declarations that end up being non-canonical.
We'll still perform a redundant (ASTContext) allocation if someone asks for
the most recent declaration from a decl before setPreviousDecl is called,
but such cases are probably all bugs, and are now easy to find.

Some finessing is still in order here -- in particular, we use a very general
mechanism for handling the DefinitionData pointer on CXXRecordData, and a more
targeted approach would be more compact.

Also, the MayHaveOutOfDateDef mechanism should now be expunged, since it was
addressing only a corner of the full problem space here. That's not covered
by this patch.

Early performance benchmarks show that this makes no measurable difference to
Clang performance without modules enabled (and fixes a major correctness issue
with modules enabled). I'll revert if a full performance comparison shows any
problems.

Alp Toker 1761f11801 Eliminate DefaultImageName from the Driver constructor
All callers were passing in "a.out" or garbage so a sensible default works fine
here as a cleanup.

This also brings about the possibility of adapting the value based on the

Nico Weber 824285ec53 Let ASTReader optionally delete its ASTDeserializationListener.
Use this to fix the leak of DeserializedDeclsDumper and DeserializedDeclsChecker
in FrontendAction (found by LSan), PR19560.

The "delete this" bool is necessary because both PCHGenerator and ASTUnit
return the same object from both getDeserializationListener() and
getASTMutationListener(), so ASTReader can't just have a unique_ptr.

It's also not possible to just let FrontendAction (or CompilerInstance) own
these listeners due to lifetime issues (see comments on PR19560).

Finally, ASTDeserializationListener can't easily be refcounted, since several of
the current listeners are allocated on the stack.

Having this bool isn't ideal, but it's a pattern that's used in other places in
the codebase too, and it seems better than leaking.

Saleem Abdulrasool 62849c677c Driver: parse -mcmodel earlier
This addresses an existing FIXME item in the driver. The code model flag was
parsed in the actual tool rather than in the driver. This was problematic since
the value may be invalid. In that case, we would silently treat it as a default
value in non-assert builds, and abort in assert builds. Add a check in the
driver to validate that the value being passed is valid, and if not provide a
proper error message.
