The lowering looks a lot like normal EH lowering, with the exception
that the exceptions are caught by executing filter expression code
instead of matching typeinfo globals. The filter expressions are
outlined into functions which are used in landingpad clauses where
typeinfo would normally go.
Major aspects that still need work:
- Non-call exceptions in __try bodies won't work yet. The plan is to
outline the __try block in the frontend to keep things simple.
- Filter expressions cannot use local variables until capturing is
implemented.
- __finally blocks will not run after exceptions. Fixing this requires
work in the LLVM SEH preparation pass.
The IR lowering looks like this:
// C code:

We didn't consider any alignment attributes on an EnumDecl when
calculating alignment.
While we are here, ignore alignment specifications on typedef types if
one is used as the underlying type. Otherwise, weird things happen:
enum Y : int;
Y y;
typedef int __attribute__((aligned(64))) u;
enum Y : u {};
What is the alignment of 'Y'? It would be more consistent with the
overall design of enums with fixed underlying types to consider the

In one place we would try to check for the difference between integers
even if we were missing one of the integers. This would eventually end
up reading uninitialized data out of the APSInt objects. The fix is to
short circuit the sameness test when we don't have integers on both

Two years ago I added a compile-time "optimization" to
ObjCMethodDecl::findPropertyDecl: exit early if the current method is part
of a special Objective-C method family (like 'new' or 'init'). However, if a
property (declared with @property) has a name that matches a method family,
the getter picks up that family despite being declared by the property. The
early exit then made ObjCMethodDecl::findPropertyDecl decide that there
was no associated property, despite the method itself being marked as an
accessor. This corrects that by removing the early exit.
This does /not/ change the fact that such a getter is considered to return a
value with a +1 retain count. The best way to eliminate this is by adding the
objc_method_family(none) attribute to the getter, but unlike the existing
ns_returns_not_retained that can't be applied directly to the property -- you
have to redeclare the getter instead.
(It'd be nice if @property just implied objc_method_family(none) for its
getter, but that would be a backwards-incompatible change.)

Reverts most of the changes from r168005. Since template arguments have proper
conversions now, no extending of integers is needed. Further, since the
integers are the correct size now, use APSInt::operator== instead of
APSInt::hasSameValue since operator== will check the size and signness match.
Prior to one comparison of APSInt's, check that both are valid. Previous, one
could be uninitialized. Also changed APInt to APSInt in GetInt. This
occassionally produced a sign flip, which will now be caught by operator==.

Previously, our rule here only ignored specializations

callable with one argument. However, Clang only
enforces that prohibition against non-implicit

To ensure that we don't import duplicates, the ASTImporter often
checks the DeclContext for a Decl before importing it to see if
a Decl with the same name is already present.
This is problematic if the Decl is inside a transparent context
like an extern "C" block. Lookup isn't allowed on such contexts,

used safely for these kinds of checks -- instead.

We previously had support for char and wchar_t string literals. VS 2015
added support for char16_t and char32_t.
String literals must be mangled in the MS ABI in order for them to be
deduplicated across translation units: their linker has no notion of
mergeable section. Instead, they use the mangled name to make a COMDAT
for the string literal; the COMDAT will merge with other COMDATs in

Specifically, when we have this situation:
struct A {
template <typename T> struct B {
int m1 = sizeof(A);
};
B<int> m2;
};
We can't parse m1's initializer eagerly because we need A to be
complete. Therefore we wait until the end of A's class scope to parse
it. However, we can trigger instantiation of B before the end of A,
which will attempt to instantiate the field decls eagerly, and it would
build a bad field decl instantiation that said it had an initializer but
actually lacked one.
Fixed by deferring instantiation of default member initializers until
they are needed during constructor analysis. This addresses a long

This addresses a regression introduced with SVN r219393. A block may be
contained within another block. In such a scenario, we would end up within a
BlockDecl, which is not a NamedDecl (as the names are synthesised). The cast to
a NamedDecl of the DeclContext would then assert as the types are unrelated.
Restore the mangling behaviour to that prior to SVN r219393. If the current
block is contained within a BlockDecl, walk up to the parent DeclContext,
recursively, until we have a non-BlockDecl. This is expected to be a NamedDecl.
Add in a couple of asserts to ensure that the assumption that we only encounter
a block within a NamedDecl or a BlockDecl.
llvm-svn: 219696
Adds codegen for 'if' clause. Currently only for 'if' clause used with the 'parallel' directive.
If condition evaluates to true, the code executes parallel version of the code by calling __kmpc_fork_call(loc, 1, microtask, captured_struct/*context*/), where loc - debug location, 1 - number of additional parameters after "microtask" argument, microtask - is outlined finction for the code associated with the 'parallel' directive, captured_struct - list of variables captured in this outlined function.
If condition evaluates to false, the code executes serial version of the code by executing the following code:
global_thread_id.addr = alloca i32
store i32 global_thread_id, global_thread_id.addr
zero.addr = alloca i32
store i32 0, zero.addr
kmpc_serialized_parallel(loc, global_thread_id);
microtask(global_thread_id.addr, zero.addr, captured_struct/*context*/);
kmpc_end_serialized_parallel(loc, global_thread_id);
Where loc - debug location, global_thread_id - global thread id, returned by __kmpc_global_thread_num() call or passed as a first parameter in microtask() call, global_thread_id.addr - address of the variable, where stored global_thread_id value, zero.addr - implicit bound thread id (should be set to 0 for serial call), microtask() and captured_struct are the same as in parallel call.
Also this patch checks if the condition is constant and if it is constant it evaluates its value and then generates either parallel version of the code (if the condition evaluates to true), or the serial version of the code (if the condition evaluates to false).

This requires removing an assert from SemaChecking, and adding support
both to the constant evaluator and the code generator to synthesize the
imaginary part when needed. This seemed somewhat cleaner than having
just the comparison operators force real-to-complex conversions.
I've added test cases for these operations. I'm really terrified that

llvm-svn: 219570
operators where one type is a C complex type, and to emit both the
efficient and correct implementation for complex arithmetic according to
C11 Annex G using this extra information.
For both multiply and divide the old code was writing a long-hand
reduced version of the math without any of the special handling of inf
and NaN recommended by the standard here. Instead of putting more
complexity here, this change does what GCC does which is to emit
a libcall for the fully general case.
However, the old code also failed to do the proper minimization of the
set of operations when there was a mixed complex and real operation. In
those cases, C provides a spec for much more minimal operations that are
valid. Clang now emits the exact suggested operations. This change isn't
*just* about performance though, without minimizing these operations, we
again lose the correct handling of infinities and NaNs. It is critical
that this happen in the frontend based on assymetric type operands to
complex math operations.
The performance implications of this change aren't trivial either. I've
run a set of benchmarks in Eigen, an open source mathematics library
that makes heavy use of complex. While a few have slowed down due to the
libcall being introduce, most sped up and some by a huge amount: up to
100% and 140%.
In order to make all of this work, also match the algorithm in the
constant evaluator to the one in the runtime library. Currently it is
a broken port of the simplifications from C's Annex G to the long-hand
formulation of the algorithm.
Splitting this patch up is very hard because none of this works without
the AST change to preserve non-complex operands. Sorry for the enormous
change.
Follow-up changes will include support for sinking the libcalls onto
cold paths in common cases and fastmath improvements to allow more
aggressive backend folding.

Richard noted in the review of r217349 that extra handling of
__builtin_assume_aligned inside of the expression evaluator was needed. He was
right, and this should address the concerns raised, namely:
1. The offset argument to __builtin_assume_aligned can have side effects, and
we need to make sure that all arguments are properly evaluated.
2. If the alignment assumption does not hold, that introduces undefined
behavior, and undefined behavior cannot appear inside a constexpr.

This was leading to a mismatch between the class, which thought it had

This patch replaces the back reference StringMap from the MS mangler
with a SmallVector of strings. My previous patches reduced the number of
hashes involved in back reference lookups, this one removes them
completely. The back reference map contains at most 10 entries, which
are likely to be of varying sizes and different initial subsequences,
and which can easily became huge (due to templates and namespaces).
The solution presented is the simplest possible one. Nevertheless, it's
enough to reduce compilation times for a particular test case from 11.1s
to 9s, versus 8.58s for the Itanium ABI. Possible further improvements
include using a sorted vector (carefully to not introduce an extra
comparison), storing the string contents in a common arena, and/or keep
the string storage in the context for reuse.

The problem with weak_odr is that an old TU seeing the same code will

suddenly start putting the C2 symbol in the C1 comdat as we cannot
guarantee that the linker will not pick a .o with only C1 in it.

This commit also makes use of the new function to enhance various diagnostics
relating to return types and resolves an old FIXME.

There are slight differences between /GR- and -fno-rtti which made
mapping one to the other inappropriate.
-fno-rtti disables dynamic_cast, typeid, and does not emit RTTI related
information for the v-table.
/GR- does not generate complete object locators and thus will not
reference them in vftables. However, constructs like dynamic_cast and
typeid are permitted.
This should bring our implementation of RTTI up to semantic parity with
MSVC modulo bugs.
llvm-svn: 212138
The pointer for a class's RTTI data comes right before the VFTable but
has no name. To be properly compatible with this, we do the following:
* Create a single GlobalVariable which holds the contents of the VFTable
_and_ the pointer to the RTTI data.
* Create a GlobalAlias, with appropriate linkage/visibility, that points
just after the RTTI data pointer. This ensures that the VFTable
symbol will always refer to VFTable data.
* Create a Comdat with a "Largest" SelectionKind and stick the private
GlobalVariable in it. By transitivity, the GlobalAlias will be a
member of the Comdat group. Using "Largest" ensures that foreign
definitions without an RTTI data pointer will _not_ be chosen in the
final linked image.
Whether or not we emit RTTI data depends on several things:
* The -fno-rtti flag implies that we should never not emit a pointer to
RTTI data before the VFTable.
* __declspec(dllimport) brings in the VFTable from a remote DLL. Use an
available_externally GlobalVariable to provide a local definition of
the VFTable. This means that we won't have any available_externally
definitions of things like complete object locators. This is
acceptable because they are never directly referenced.
To my knowledge, this completes the implementation of MSVC RTTI code
generation.
Further semantic work should be done to properly support /GR-.

This is a follow-up to David's r211677. For the following code,
we would end up referring to 'foo' in the initializer for 'arr',
and then fail to link, because 'foo' is dllimport and needs to be
accessed through the __imp_?foo.
__declspec(dllimport) extern const char foo[];
const char* f() {
static const char* const arr[] = { foo };
return arr[0];

Types defined in function prototype are diagnosed earlier in C++ compilation.
They are put into declaration context where the prototype is introduced. Later on,
when FunctionDecl object is created, these types are moved into the function context.
This patch fixes PR19018 and PR18963.

The C++ language requires that the address of a function be the same
across all translation units. To make __declspec(dllimport) useful,
this means that a dllimported function must also obey this rule. MSVC
implements this by dynamically querying the import address table located
in the linked executable. This means that the address of such a
function in C++ is not constant (which violates other rules).
However, the C language has no notion of ODR nor does it permit dynamic
initialization whatsoever. This requires implementations to _not_
dynamically query the import address table and instead utilize a wrapper
function that will be synthesized by the linker which will eventually
query the import address table. The effect this has is, to say the
least, perplexing.
Consider the following C program:
__declspec(dllimport) void f(void);
typedef void (*fp)(void);
static const fp var = &f;
const fp fun() { return &f; }
int main() { return fun() == var; }
MSVC will statically initialize "var" with the address of the wrapper
function and "fun" returns the address of the actual imported function.
This means that "main" will return false!
Note that LLVM's optimizers are strong enough to figure out that "main"
should return true. However, this result is dependent on having
optimizations enabled!
N.B. This change also permits the usage of dllimport declarators inside
of template arguments; they are sufficiently constant for such a
purpose. Add tests to make sure we don't regress here.

The address of dllimport functions can be accessed one of two ways:
- Through the IAT which is symbolically referred to with a symbol
starting with __imp_.
- Via the wrapper-function which ends up calling through the __imp_
symbol.
The problem with using the wrapper-function is that it's address will
not compare as equal in all translation units. Specifically, it will
compare unequally with the translation unit which defines the function.
This fixes PR19955.

CRTP-like patterns involve a class which inherits from another class
using itself as a template parameter.
However, the base class itself may try to create a pointer-to-member
which involves the derived class. This is problematic because we
may not have finished parsing the most derived classes' base specifiers
yet.
It turns out that MSVC simply uses the unspecified inheritance model
instead of doing anything fancy.

An associated change, StringMap now maintains unique mangled name strings
