Richard Smith 645d755d3e Fix handling of module imports adding names to a DeclContext after qualified
name lookup has been performed in that context (this probably only happens in
C++).

1) Whenever we add names to a context, set a flag on it, and if we perform
lookup and discover that the context has had a lookup table built but has the
flag set, update all entries in the lookup table with additional names from
the external source.

2) When marking a DeclContext as having external visible decls, mark the
context in which lookup is performed, not the one we are adding. These won't
be the same if we're adding another copy of a pre-existing namespace.

Richard Smith 9ce12e36ab Simplify FindExternalVisibleDeclsByName by making it return a bool indicating
if it found any decls, rather than returning a list of found decls. This
removes a returning-ArrayRef-to-deleted-storage bug from
MultiplexExternalSemaSource (in code not exercised by any of the clang
binaries), reduces the work required in the found-no-decls case with PCH, and
importantly removes the need for DeclContext::lookup to be reentrant.

No functionality change intended!

path "fallthrough annotation does not directly precede switch label" is better;
2. After default: in a switch with covered enum cases. Actually, these shouldn't
be treated as unreachable code for our purpose.

Douglas Gregor 5dc3899ca4 Introduce -fmodules-ignore-macro=NNN to ignore a macro when building/loading modules.
The use of this flag enables a modules optimization where a given set
of macros can be labeled as "ignored" by the modules
system. Definitions of those macros will be completely ignored when
building the module hash and will be stripped when actually building
modules. The overall effect is that this flag can be used to
drastically reduce the number of

Eventually, we'll want modules to tell us what set of macros they
respond to (the "configuration macros"), and anything not in that set
will be excluded. However, that requires a lot of per-module
information that must be accurate, whereas this option can be used
more readily.

Fixes the rest of <rdar://problem/13165109>.

Douglas Gregor 8a114ab557 Detect when we end up trying to load conflicting module files.
This can happen when one abuses precompiled headers by passing more -D
options when using a precompiled hedaer than when it was built. This
is intentionally permitted by precompiled headers (and is exploited by
some build environments), but causes problems for modules.

First part of <rdar://problem/13165109>, detecting when something when
horribly wrong.

Daniel Jasper 7fce3ab0f2 Optionally derive formatting information from the input file.
With this patch, clang-format can analyze the input file for two
properties:
1. Is "int *a" or "int* a" more common.
2. Are non-C++03 constructs used, e.g. A<A<A>>.

With Google-style, clang-format will now use the more common style for
(1) and format C++03 compatible, unless it finds C++11 constructs in the
input.

Daniel Jasper c697ad29ff Handle nested ObjC calls.
Properly handle annotation contexts while calculating extra information
for each token. This enable nested ObjC calls and thus solves (most of)
llvm.org/PR15164. E.g., we can now format:

[contentsContainer replaceSubview:[subviews objectAtIndex:0]
                             with:contentsNativeView];

Also fix a problem with the formatting of types in casts as this was
trivial now.

Nico Weber 5d2624e53a Formatter: No space after & and * in front of ObjC message expressions.
1. let determineStarAmp() check of unary operators before checking for
   "is next '['". That check was added in r173150, and the test from that
   revision passes either way.

2. change determineStarAmp() to categorize '*' and '&' after '=' as unary
   operator.

3. don't let parseSquare() overwrite the type of a '*' or '&' before the start
   of an objc message expression if has the role of unary operator.

Anna Zaks 258f9357ef [analyzer]Revert part of r161511; suppresses leak false positives in C++
This is a "quick fix".

The underlining issue is that when a const pointer to a struct is passed
into a function, we do not invalidate the pointer fields. This results
in false positives that are common in C++ (since copy constructors are
prevalent). (Silences two llvm false positives.)

Michael Gottesman 5c2059603c Changed CGObjCMac.cpp to add the marker externally_initialized to SELECTOR_REFERENCES in both the fragile and non-fragile API.
This is to ensure that GlobalOpt in LLVM does not attempt to look through a
selector reference to a method var name at compile time.

I also added a test/updated old tests that need to recognize the new keyword.

Ted Kremenek 8ae67871b4 Change subexpressions to be visited in the CFG from left-to-right.
This is a more natural order of evaluation, and it is very important
for visualization in the static analyzer.  Within Xcode, the arrows
will not jump from right to left, which looks very visually jarring.
It also provides a more natural location for dataflow-based diagnostics.

Along the way, we found a case in the analyzer diagnostics where we
needed to indicate that a variable was "captured" by a block.

-fsyntax-only timings on sqlite3.c show no visible performance change,
although this is just one test case.

Argyrios Kyrtzidis 48b72d81c8 [frontend] Don't put a PCH/PTH filename into the set of includes in the preprocessor options;
since only one of them is allowed in command-line, process them separately.

Otherwise, if more than one is specified in the command-line, one is processed normally
and the others are going to be treated and included as header files.

Daniel Jasper 2603ee0dc6 Improve formatting of stream operators.
If there are string literals on either side of a '<<', chances are
high that they represent logically separate concepts. Otherwise,
the author could just have just a single literal (possible split
over multiple lines).

So, we can now nicely format things like:

     << "  val b = " << ValueB << "\n"

This combines several changes:
* Calculation token type (e.g. for * and &) in the AnnotatingParser.
* Calculate the scope binding strength in the AnnotatingParser.
* Let <> and [] scopes bind stronger than () and {} scopes.

Benjamin Kramer d9c8455adf CodeGen: Implement hint values for dynamic_cast as described in the Itanium C++ ABI.
This can yield dramatic speedups of dynamic_cast for simple inheritance trees,
at least with libsupc++. Neither libcxxabi nor libcxxrt make use of this
hint currently, it was never implemented because clang didn't support it.

There was some concern about the number of class hierarchy walks this change
introduces. If it turns out to be an issue we can add caching either at the cast
pair level or even deeper, but we also do a lot of walks in Sema so this
codepath is probably fairly optimized already.

Jordan Rose e0c260f137 Revert "[analyzer] Model trivial copy/move ctors with an aggregate bind."
...again. The problem has not been fixed and our internal buildbot is still
getting hangs.

This reverts r174212, originally applied in r173951, then reverted in r174069.
Will not re-apply until the entire project analyzes successfully on my
local machine.

Richard Smith c084bd2888 PR15132: Replace "address expression must be an lvalue or a function
designator" diagnostic with more correct and more human-friendly "cannot take
address of rvalue of type 'T'".

For the case of & &T::f, provide a custom diagnostic, rather than unhelpfully
saying "cannot take address of rvalue of type '<overloaded function type>'".

For the case of &array_temporary, treat it just like a class temporary
(including allowing it as an extension); the existing diagnostic wording
for the class temporary case works fine.

Anna Zaks 00c69a597c [analyzer] Always inline functions with bodies generated by BodyFarm.
Inlining these functions is essential for correctness. We often have
cases where we do not inline calls. For example, the shallow mode and
when reanalyzing previously inlined ObjC methods as top level.

says, but that's a defect (to be filed). "Cls::purevfn()" is still an odr use.

Also fixes a bug that caused us to not mark the function referenced just

Jordan Rose 49d5f8825d [analyzer] Reuse a LazyCompoundVal if its type matches the new region.
This allows us to keep from chaining LazyCompoundVals in cases like this:
  CGRect r = CGRectMake(0, 0, 640, 480);
  CGRect r2 = r;
  CGRect r3 = r2;

Previously we only made this optimization if the struct did not begin with
an aggregate member, to make sure that we weren't picking up an LCV for
the first field of the struct. But since LazyCompoundVals are typed, we can
make that inference directly by comparing types.

This is a pure optimization; the test changes are to guard against possible
future regressions.

David Blaikie 357aafb566 Fix exception handling line table problems introduced by r173593
r173593 made us a little too eager to associate all code at the end of a
function with the user-written 'return' line. This caused problems with
breakpoints as they'd be set in exception handling code preceeding the
actual non-exception return handling code, leading to the breakpoint never
being hit in non-exceptional execution.

This change restores the pre-r173593 exception handling line information where
the cleanup code is associated with the '}' not the return line.

Bill Schmidt eb03ae268e Fix PR14881 by implementing conversion rules between int and complex int.
Prior to the patch, Clang does not properly promote types when a complex
integer operand is combined with an integer via a binary operator, or when
one is assigned to the other in either order.  This patch detects when
promotion is needed (and permissible) and generates the necessary code.

The test assmes no target has the same size operands for "char" and
"long long," and that no target performs arithmetic on char operands without
extending them to a larger format first.  If there are any targets for
which this is not the case, they should be XFAILed.

Manuel Klimek 191c093af1 Re-design the convenience interfaces on MatchFinder.
First, this implements a match() method on MatchFinder; this allows us
to get rid of the findAll implementation, as findAll is really a special
case of recursive matchers on match.

Instead of findAll, provide a convenience function match() that lets
users iterate easily over the results instead of needing to implement
callbacks.

Daniel Jasper 4b866274c3 Revamp of the basic layouting algorithm in clang-format.
In order to end up with good solutions, clang-format needs to try
"all" combinations of line breaks, evaluate them and select the
best one. Before, we have done this using a DFS with memoization
and cut-off conditions. However, this approach is very limited
as shown by the huge static initializer in the attachment of
llvm.org/PR14959.

Instead, this new implementation uses a variant of Dijkstra's
algorithm to do a prioritized BFS over the solution space.

Some numbers:
lib/Format/TokenAnnotator.cpp: 1.5s -> 0.15s
Attachment of PR14959: 10min+ (didn't finish) -> 10s

No functional changes intended.

Bill Schmidt 2fe4c67374 Enable -fno-altivec, -mno-altivec for PowerPC.
Introduces these negation forms explicitly and uses them to control a new
"altivec" target feature for PowerPC.  This allows avoiding generating
Altivec instructions on processors that support Altivec.

The new test case verifies that the Altivec "lvx" instruction is not
used when -fno-altivec is present on the command line.

Daniel Jasper 8a8ce2406a Several improvements to the formatting of static initializers.
1. Never avoid bin packing in static initializers as this can
   lead to terrible results.
2. If an element has to be broken over multiple lines, break after
   the following comma.

This should be a step forward, but there are still many cases
especially with nested static initializers that we handle badly.

Tim Northover 9bb857a4f1 Add support for AArch64 target.
In cooperation with the LLVM patch, this should implement all scalar front-end
parts of the C and C++ ABIs for AArch64.

This patch excludes the NEON support also reviewed due to an outbreak of
batshit insanity in our legal department. That will be committed soon bringing
the changes to precisely what has been approved.

Evgeniy Stepanov 102846714a [msan] Run more optimizations after MemorySanitizer pass.
MSan instrumentation is driven by the original code. We take every
incoming instruction and emit another instruction (or ten) next to
it, operating on the shadow values (but sometimes on the real values,
too). Two programs in one, essentially. There can be any kinds of
redundancies in the second one, so we just run whatever is normally
run at -O2, and then exclude some passes that do not help much with
benchmarks.

Jordan Rose 9a6d4f3644 [analyzer] If a lazy binding is undefined, pretend that it's unknown instead.
This is a hack to work around the fact that we don't track extents for our
default bindings:

  CGPoint p;
  p.x = 0.0;
  p.y = 0.0;
  rectParam.origin = p;
  use(rectParam.size); // warning: uninitialized value in rectParam.size.width

In this case, the default binding for 'p' gets copied into 'rectParam',
because the 'origin' field is at offset 0 within CGRect. From then on,
rectParam's old default binding (in this case a symbol) is lost.

This patch silences the warning by pretending that lazy bindings are never
made from uninitialized memory, but not only is that not true, the original
default binding is still getting overwritten (see FIXME test cases).
The long-term solution is tracked in <rdar://problem/12701038>

Jordan Rose 2da0d1cfd3 Diagnostics: if a line is longer than 4096 characters, don't print it.
Specifically, don't print snippets, caret diagnostics, or ranges for
lines over 4096 characters. We copy the line around a few times in our
diagnostics machinery, and we have to print a caret line that's just as
long. This uses a lot of memory just to create a poor user experience as
we print out a line much too long for anyone to read...or spend extra
energy trying to fit it to -fmessage-length.

Anna Zaks c84d151892 [analyzer] Make shallow mode more shallow.
Redefine the shallow mode to inline all functions for which we have a
definite definition (ipa=inlining). However, only inline functions that
are up to 4 basic blocks large and cut the max exploded nodes generated
per top level function in half.

This makes shallow faster and allows us to keep inlining small
functions. For example, we would keep inlining wrapper functions and
constructors/destructors.

With the new shallow, it takes 104s to analyze sqlite3, whereas
the deep mode is 658s and previous shallow is 209s.

This is faster for the analyzer to process than inlining the constructor
and performing a member-wise copy, and it also solves the problem of
warning when a partially-initialized POD struct is copied.

After:
  CGPoint p;
  p.x = 0;
  CGPoint p2 = p; // no-warning

This matches our behavior in C, where we don't see a field-by-field copy.

Jordan Rose 17441589c3 Don't warn about Unicode characters in -E mode.
People use the C preprocessor for things other than C files. Some of them
have Unicode characters. We shouldn't warn about Unicode characters
appearing outside of identifiers in this case.

There's not currently a way for the preprocessor to tell if it's in -E mode,
so I added a new flag, derived from the PreprocessorOutputOptions. This is
only used by the Unicode warnings for now, but could conceivably be used by
other warnings or even behavioral differences later.

David Blaikie 35506f8202 Provide a fixit for constexpr non-static data members.
If the member has an initializer, assume it was probably intended to be static
and suggest/recover with that.

If the member doesn't have an initializer, assume it was probably intended to
be const instead of constexpr and suggest that.

(if the attempt to apply these changes fails, don't make any suggestion &
produce the same diagnostic experience as before. The only case where this can
come up that I know of is with a mutable constexpr with an initializer, since
mutable is incompatible with static (but it's already incompatible with
const anyway))

Chad Rosier ae229d599b [ubsan] Implement the -fcatch-undefined-behavior flag using a trapping
implementation; this is much more inline with the original implementation
(i.e., pre-ubsan) and does not require run-time library support.

The trapping implementation can be invoked using either '-fcatch-undefined-behavior'
or '-fsanitize=undefined-trap -fsanitize-undefined-trap-on-error', with the latter
being preferred.  Eventually, the -fcatch-undefined-behavior' flag will be removed.

Argyrios Kyrtzidis 005206a813 [Preprocessor] When checking if we can concatenate two tokens, check
if they were already concatenated in source using the spelling locations
even if they came from a macro expansion.

This fixes an issue where a GUID passed as macro argument ends up
malformed after preprocessing because we added spaces inside it.

Chad Rosier dd60e09021 [driver] Refactor the driver so that a failing commands doesn't prevent
subsequent commands from being executed.

The diagnostics generation isn't designed for this use case, so add a note to
fix this in the very near future.  For now, just generated the diagnostics for
the first failing command.

Richard Smith 810ad3eb44 Downgrade 'attribute ignored when parsing type' from error to warning, to match
the diagnostic's warn_ name. Switch some places (notably C++11 attributes)
which really wanted an error over to a different diagnostic. Finally, suppress
the diagnostic entirely for __ptr32, __ptr64 and __w64, to avoid producing
diagnostics in important system headers.

Richard Smith 0cdcc98200 Replace AS_MSTypespec with AS_Keyword, for representing any attribute spelled
as a keyword. Rationalize existing attributes to use it as appropriate, and to
not lie about some __declspec attributes being GNU attributes. In passing,
remove a gross hack which was discarding attributes which we could handle. This
results in us actually respecting the __pascal keyword again.

Richard Smith e233fbfc16 Finish semantic analysis for [[carries_dependency]] attribute.
This required plumbing through a new flag to determine whether a ParmVarDecl is
actually a parameter of a function declaration (as opposed to a function
typedef etc, where the attribute is prohibited). Weirdly, this attribute (just
like [[noreturn]]) cannot be applied to a function type, just to a function
declaration (and its parameters).

Douglas Gregor e97cd90a67 Eliminate memory allocation from most invocations of
ModuleManager::visit() by keeping a free list of the two data
structures used to store state (a preallocated stack and a visitation
number vector). Improves -fsyntax-only performance for my modules test
case by 2.8%. Modules has pulled ahead by almost 10% with the global
module index.

1. Use a hanging ident for function calls nested in binary expressions.
   E.g.:

2. Slightly improve heuristic for builder type expressions and reduce
   penalty for breaking before "." and "->" in those.

3. Remove  mostly obsolete metric of decreasing indent level. This

Hal Finkel 2109f23000 Fix the indentation of the first line of preprocessor output
The -E output from clang did not produce the correct indentation on the first line.
This is because MoveToLine returned false, and when this happens,
the regular process for producing initial indentation is skipped.

David Blaikie 0a21d0da17 PR14566: Debug Info: avoid top level lexical blocks in functions
One of the gotchas (see changes to CodeGenFunction) was due to the fix in
r139416 (for PR10829). This only worked previously because the top level
lexical block would set the location to the end of the function, the debug
location would be updated (as per r139416), the location would be set to
the end of the function again (but that would no-op, since it was the same
as the previous location), then the return instruction would be emitted using
the debug location.

Once the top level lexical block was no longer emitted, the end-of-function
location change was causing the debug loc to be updated, regressing that bug.

Jordan Rose 9853371f24 [analyzer] C++ initializers may require cleanups; look through these.
When the analyzer sees an initializer, it checks if the initializer
contains a CXXConstructExpr. If so, it trusts that the CXXConstructExpr
does the necessary work to initialize the object, and performs no further
initialization.

This patch looks through any implicit wrapping expressions like
ExprWithCleanups to find the CXXConstructExpr inside.

Fixes PR15070.

Jordan Rose aea020f04e [analyzer] Track null object lvalues back through C++ method calls.
The expression 'a->b.c()' contains a call to the 'c' method of 'a->b'.
We emit an error if 'a' is NULL, but previously didn't actually track
the null value back through the 'a->b' expression, which caused us to
miss important false-positive-suppression cases, including
<rdar://problem/12676053>.

Douglas Gregor e00c8b205e Since we're stuck with realpath for the header <-> module mapping,
factor the realpath calls into FileManager::getCanonicalName() so we
can cache the results of this epically slow operation. 5% speedup on
my modules test, and realpath drops out of the profile.

Fariborz Jahanian 7865220da4 patch for PR9027 and // rdar://11861085
Title: [PR9027] volatile struct bug: member is not loaded at -O;
This is caused by last flag passed to @llvm.memcpy being false, 
not honoring that aggregate has at least one 'volatile' data member 
(even though aggregate itself has not been qualified as 'volatile'. 
As a result, optimization optimizes away the memcpy altogether.
Patch review by John MaCall (I still need to fix up a test though).

Douglas Gregor 7211ac15bb Improve coordination between the module manager and the global module
index, optimizing the operation that skips lookup in modules where we

John McCall 6bd2a89d5a The standard ARM C++ ABI dictates that inline functions are
never key functions.  We did not implement that rule for the
iOS ABI, which was driven by what was implemented in gcc-4.2.
However, implement it now for other ARM-based platforms.

Douglas Gregor e41d7feaf5 Optimize ModuleManager::visit() by precomputing the visitation order
and limiting ourselves to two memory allocations. 10% speedup in
-fsyntax-only time for modules.

With this change, we can actually see some performance different from
the global module index, but it's still about 1%.

Richard Smith cf656385ea Sync 'in class initialization of static const double' extension up with GCC,
and split it out of -Wgnu into its own warning flag.

 * In C++11, this is now a hard error (GCC has no extension here in C++11 mode).
   The error can be disabled with -Wno-static-float-init, and has a fixit to
   add 'constexpr'.

 * In C++98, this is still an ExtWarn, but is now controlled by
   -Wstatic-float-init as well as -Wgnu.

Douglas Gregor e060e57bf7 Implement the reader of the global module index and wire it into the
AST reader.

The global module index tracks all of the identifiers known to a set
of module files. Lookup of those identifiers looks first in the global
module index, which returns the set of module files in which that
identifier can be found. The AST reader only needs to look into those
module files and any module files not known to the global index (e.g.,
because they were (re)built after the global index), reducing the
number of on-disk hash tables to visit. For an example source I'm
looking at, we go from 237844 total identifier lookups into on-disk
hash tables down to 126817.

Unfortunately, this does not translate into a performance advantage.
At best, it's a wash once the global module index has been built, but
that's ignore the cost of building the global module index (which
is itself fairly large). Profiles show that the global module index
code is far less efficient than it should be; optimizing it might give
enough of an advantage to justify its continued inclusion.

Richard Smith f3814ad426 Clean up: since we have FunctionDecl::IsInline, make it store the right value
for template instantiations, and use it to simplify the implementation of
FunctionDecl::isInlined().

This incidentally changes the result of isInlined on a declared-but-not-defined
non-inline member function from true to false. This is sort of a bug fix, but
currently isInlined is only called on function definitions, so it has no visible
effects.

Anna Zaks 36d988f023 [analyzer] Add "-analyzer-config mode=[deep|shallow] ".
The idea is to introduce a higher level "user mode" option for
different use scenarios. For example, if one wants to run the analyzer
for a small project each time the code is built, they would use
the "shallow" mode. 

The user mode option will influence the default settings for the
lower-level analyzer options. For now, this just influences the ipa
modes, but we plan to find more optimal settings for them.

Jordan Rose 7f43dddae0 Handle universal character names and Unicode characters outside of literals.
This is a missing piece for C99 conformance.

This patch handles UCNs by adding a '\\' case to LexTokenInternal and
LexIdentifier -- if we see a backslash, we tentatively try to read in a UCN.
If the UCN is not syntactically well-formed, we fall back to the old
treatment: a backslash followed by an identifier beginning with 'u' (or 'U').

Because the spelling of an identifier with UCNs still has the UCN in it, we
need to convert that to UTF-8 in Preprocessor::LookUpIdentifierInfo.

Of course, valid code that does *not* use UCNs will see only a very minimal
performance hit (checks after each identifier for non-ASCII characters,
checks when converting raw_identifiers to identifiers that they do not
contain UCNs, and checks when getting the spelling of an identifier that it
does not contain a UCN).

This patch also adds basic support for actual UTF-8 in the source. This is
treated almost exactly the same as UCNs except that we consider stray
Unicode characters to be mistakes and offer a fixit to remove them.

Michael Han 9931593299 PR14922: when printing an attribute, use the real syntax of the attribute (GNU, C++11, MS Declspec) instead of hardcoded GNU syntax.
Introduce a spelling index to Attr class, which is an index into the attribute spelling list of an attribute defined in Attr.td. 
This index will determine the actual spelling used by an attribute, as it incorporates both the syntax and naming of the attribute.
When constructing an attribute AST node, the spelling index is computed based on attribute kind, scope (if it's a C++11 attribute), and
name, then passed to Attr that will use the index to print itself.

Douglas Gregor 5e306b1233 Implement the writer side of the global module index.
The global module index is a "global" index for all of the module
files within a particular subdirectory in the module cache, which
keeps track of all of the "interesting" identifiers and selectors
known in each of the module files. One can perform a fast lookup in
the index to determine which module files will have more information
about entities with a particular name/selector. This information can
help eliminate redundant lookups into module files (a serious
performance problem) and help with creating auto-import/auto-include
Fix-Its.

The global module index is created or updated at the end of a
translation unit that has triggered a (re)build of a module by
scraping all of the .pcm files out of the module cache subdirectory,
so it catches everything. As with module rebuilds, we use the file
system's atomicity to synchronize.

Dmitri Gribenko 6c926ccbd2 Implement -Wvla correctly
GCC implements -Wvla as "warn on every VLA" (this is useful to find every VLA,
for example, if they are forbidden by coding guidelines).  Currently Clang
implements -Wvla as "warn on VLA when it is an extension".

The attached patch makes our behavior match GCC.  The existing vla extwarn is
moved under -Wvla-extension and is still included into -Wgnu.

This fixes PR5953.
