Louis Dionne 385cc25a53 [libc++] Ensure that all public C++ headers include <__assert>
This patch changes the requirement for getting the declaration of the
assertion handler from including <__assert> to including any public
C++ header of the library. Note that C compatibility headers are
excluded because we don't implement all the C headers ourselves --
some of them are taken straight from the C library, like assert.h.

It also adds a generated test to check it. Furthermore, this new
generated test is designed in a way that will make it possible to
replace almost all the existing test-generation scripts with this
system in upcoming patches.

Nikolas Klauser 3c6bd176fb [libc++] Rename __identity to __type_identity
In C++20 the type trait `type_identity` was introduced. For the same purpose there is `__identity` for pre-C++20 code. The name is confusing, because since C++20 there is also `identity`, which isn't a type trait.

Louis Dionne c87c8917e3 [libc++] Audit all uses of _LIBCPP_ASSERT and _LIBCPP_DEBUG_ASSERT
I audited all uses of _LIBCPP_ASSERT to make sure that we only used it
for "basic assertions", i.e. assertions with constant-time conditions.
I also audited all uses of _LIBCPP_DEBUG_ASSERT to make sure we used it
only for debug-mode assertions, and in one case had to change for
_LIBCPP_ASSERT instead.

As a fly-by, I also changed a couple of tests against nullptr or 0 to
be more explicit.

After this patch, all uses of _LIBCPP_ASSERT should be with constant-time
conditions, and all uses of _LIBCPP_DEBUG_ASSERT should be with conditions
that we only want to check when the debug mode is enabled.

Louis Dionne f87aa19be6 [libc++] Move everything related solely to _LIBCPP_ASSERT to its own file
This is the first step towards disentangling the debug mode and assertions
in libc++. This patch doesn't make any functional change: it simply moves
_LIBCPP_ASSERT-related stuff to its own file so as to make it clear that
libc++ assertions and the debug mode are different things. Future patches
will make it possible to enable assertions without enabling the debug
mode.

Konstantin Varlamov 68072a7166 [libc++] P0433R2: test that deduction guides are properly SFINAEd away.
Deduction guides for containers should not participate in overload
resolution when called with certain incorrect types (e.g. when called
with a template argument in place of an `InputIterator` that doesn't
qualify as an input iterator). Similarly, class template argument
deduction should not select `unique_ptr` constructors that take a
a pointer.

The tests try out every possible incorrect parameter (but never more
than one incorrect parameter in the same invocation).

Also add deduction guides to the synopsis for associative and unordered
containers (this was accidentally omitted from [D112510](https://reviews.llvm.org/D112510)).

Louis Dionne 4e0ea2cf2e [libc++] Use enable_if_t instead of _EnableIf
I just ran into a compiler error involving __bind_back and some overloads
that were being disabled with _EnableIf. I noticed that the error message
was quite bad and did not mention the reason for the overload being
excluded. Specifically, the error looked like this:

candidate template ignored: substitution failure [with _Args =
<ContiguousView>]: no member named '_EnableIfImpl' in 'std::_MetaBase<false>'

Instead, when using enable_if or enable_if_t, the compiler is clever and
can produce better diagnostics, like so:

     candidate template ignored: requirement 'is_invocable_v<
          std::__bind_back_op<1, std::integer_sequence<unsigned long, 0>>,
          std::ranges::views::__transform::__fn &, std::tuple<PlusOne> &,
ContiguousView>' was not satisfied [with _Args = <ContiguousView>]

Basically, it tries to do a poor man's implementation of concepts, which
is already a lot better than simply complaining about substitution failure.

Hence, this commit uses enable_if_t instead of _EnableIf whenever
possible. That is both more straightforward than using the internal
helper, and also leads to better error messages in those cases.

I understand the motivation for _EnableIf's implementation was to improve
compile-time performance, however I believe striving to improve error
messages is even more important for our QOI, hence this patch. Furthermore,
it is unclear that _EnableIf actually improved compile-time performance
in any noticeable way (see discussion in the review for details).

Louis Dionne 31e820378b [libc++] NFCI: Simplify macro definitions for the debug mode
The debug mode always had three possibilities:
- _LIBCPP_DEBUG is undefined => no assertions
- _LIBCPP_DEBUG == 0         => some assertions
- _LIBCPP_DEBUG == 1         => some assertions + iterator checks

This was documented that way, however the code did not make this clear
at all. The discrepancy between _LIBCPP_DEBUG and _LIBCPP_DEBUG_LEVEL
was especially confusing. I reworked how the various macros are defined
without changing anything else to make the code clearer.

Louis Dionne 7c142fcc06 [libc++] Make sure we don't eagerly diagnose non-const comparators for containers of incomplete types
Summary:
In r348529, I improved the library-defined diagnostic for using containers
with a non-const comparator/hasher. However, the check is now performed
too early, which leads to the diagnostic being emitted in cases where it
shouldn't. See PR41360 for details.

This patch moves the diagnostic to the destructor of the containers, which
means that the diagnostic will only be emitted when the container is instantiated
at a point where the comparator and the key/value are required to be complete.
We still retain better diagnostics than before r348529, because the diagnostics
are performed in the containers themselves instead of __tree and __hash_table.

As a drive-by fix, I improved the diagnostic to mention that we can't find
a _viable_ const call operator, as suggested by EricWF in PR41360.

We understand that people may be surprised that we're moving the header

Foundation's lawyer and we believe this is the correct approach.

Essentially, all code in the project is now made available by the LLVM
project under our new license, so you will see that the license headers
include that license only. Some of our contributors have contributed
code under our old license, and accordingly, we have retained a copy of
our old license notice in the top-level files in each project and

When providing a non-const-callable comparator in a map or set, the

had a similar problem.

Howard Hinnant b24c802489 Debug mode for unordered_set. I believe this to be fairly complete for
unordered_set, however it is not complete yet for unordered_multiset,
unordered_map or unordered_multimap. There has been a lot of work done
for these other three containers, however that work was done just to
keep all of the tests passing.

You can try this out with -D_LIBCPP_DEBUG2. You will have to link to a
libc++.dylib that has been compiled with src/debug.cpp. So far, vector
(but not vector<bool>), list, and unordered_set are treated. I hope to
get the other three unordered containers up fairly quickly now that
unordered_set is done.

The flag _LIBCPP_DEBUG2 will eventually be changed to _LIBCPP_DEBUG, but
not today. This is my second effort at getting debug mode going for
libc++, and I'm not quite yet ready to throw all of the work under the
first attempt away.

The basic design is that all of the debug information is kept in a
central database, instead of in the containers. This has been done as
an attempt to have debug mode and non-debug mode be ABI compatible with
each other. There are some circumstances where if you construct a
container in an environment without debug mode and pass it into debug
mode, the checking will get confused and let you know with a readable
error message. Passing containers the other way: from debug mode out to
a non-debugging mode container should be 100% safe (at least that is the
goal).
