Florian Hahn f19876c536 [ConstraintElimination] Bail out if system gets too big.
For some inputs, the constraint system can grow quite large during
solving, because it replaces complex constraints with one or more
simpler constraints. This adds a cut-off to avoid compile-time explosion
on problematic inputs.

Wenlei He 6b989a1710 [CSSPGO] Infrastructure for context-sensitive Sample PGO and Inlining
This change adds the context-senstive sample PGO infracture described in CSSPGO RFC (https://groups.google.com/g/llvm-dev/c/1p1rdYbL93s). It introduced an abstraction between input profile and profile loader that queries input profile for functions. Specifically, there's now the notion of base profile and context profile, and they are managed by the new SampleContextTracker for adjusting and merging profiles based on inline decisions. It works with top-down profiled guided inliner in profile loader (https://reviews.llvm.org/D70655) for better inlining with specialization and better post-inline profile fidelity. In the future, we can also expose this infrastructure to CGSCC inliner in order for it to take advantage of context-sensitive profile. This change is the consumption part of context-sensitive profile (The generation part is in this stack: https://reviews.llvm.org/D89707). We've seen good results internally in conjunction with Pseudo-probe (https://reviews.llvm.org/D86193). Pacthes for integration with Pseudo-probe coming up soon.

Currently the new infrastructure kick in when input profile contains the new context-sensitive profile; otherwise it's no-op and does not affect existing AutoFDO.

**Interface**

There're two sets of interfaces for query and tracking respectively exposed from SampleContextTracker. For query, now instead of simply getting a profile from input for a function, we can explicitly query base profile or context profile for given call path of a function. For tracking, there're separate APIs for marking context profile as inlined, or promoting and merging not inlined context profile.

- Query base profile (`getBaseSamplesFor`)
Base profile is the merged synthetic profile for function's CFG profile from any outstanding (not inlined) context. We can query base profile by function.

- Query context profile (`getContextSamplesFor`)
Context profile is a function's CFG profile for a given calling context. We can query context profile by context string.

- Track inlined context profile (`markContextSamplesInlined`)
When a function is inlined for given calling context, we need to mark the context profile for that context as inlined. This is to make sure we don't include inlined context profile when synthesizing base profile for that inlined function.

- Track not-inlined context profile (`promoteMergeContextSamplesTree`)
When a function is not inlined for given calling context, we need to promote the context profile tree so the not inlined context becomes top-level context. This preserve the sub-context under that function so later inline decision for that not inlined function will still have context profile for its call tree. Note that profile will be merged if needed when promoting a context profile tree if any of the node already exists at its promoted destination.

**Implementation**

Implementation-wise, `SampleContext` is created as abstraction for context. Currently it's a string for call path, and we can later optimize it to something more efficient, e.g. context id. Each `SampleContext` also has a `ContextState` indicating whether it's raw context profile from input, whether it's inlined or merged, whether it's synthetic profile created by compiler. Each `FunctionSamples` now has a `SampleContext` that tells whether it's base profile or context profile, and for context profile what is the context and state.

On top of the above context representation, a custom trie tree is implemented to track and manager context profiles. Specifically, `SampleContextTracker` is implemented that encapsulates a trie tree with `ContextTireNode` as node. Each node of the trie tree represents a frame in calling context, thus the path from root to a node represents a valid calling context. We also track `FunctionSamples` for each node, so this trie tree can serve efficient query for context profile. Accordingly, context profile tree promotion now becomes moving a subtree to be under the root of entire tree, and merge nodes for subtree if this move encounters existing nodes.

**Integration**

`SampleContextTracker` is now also integrated with AutoFDO, `SampleProfileReader` and `SampleProfileLoader`. When we detected input profile contains context-sensitive profile, `SampleContextTracker` will be used to track profiles, and all profile query will go to `SampleContextTracker` instead of `SampleProfileReader` automatically. Tracking APIs are called automatically for each inline decision from `SampleProfileLoader`.

Nikita Popov 5e69e2ebad [BasicAA] Migrate "same base pointer" logic to decomposed GEPs
BasicAA has some special bit of logic for "same base pointer" GEPs
that performs a structural comparison: It only looks at two GEPs
with the same base (as opposed to two GEP chains with a MustAlias
base) and compares their indexes in a limited way. I generalized
part of this code in D91027, and this patch merges the remainder
into the normal decomposed GEP logic.

What this code ultimately wants to do is to determine that
gep %base, %idx1 and gep %base, %idx2 don't alias if %idx1 != %idx2,
and the access size fits within the stride.

We can express this in terms of a decomposed GEP expression with
two indexes scale*%idx1 + -scale*%idx2 where %idx1 != %idx2, and
some appropriate checks for sizes and offsets.

This makes the reasoning slightly more powerful, and more
importantly brings all the GEP logic under a common umbrella.

Philip Reames bfda69416c [BasicAA] Fix a bug with relational reasoning across iterations
Due to the recursion through phis basicaa does, the code needs to be extremely careful not to reason about equality between values which might represent distinct iterations. I'm generally skeptical of the correctness of the whole scheme, but this particular patch fixes one particular instance which is demonstrateable incorrect.

Interestingly, this appears to be the second attempted fix for the same issue. The former fix is incomplete and doesn't address the actual issue.

Sam Clegg ab58e4cb51 [lld][WebAssembly] Add suppport for PIC + passive data initialization
This change improves our support for shared memory to include
PIC executables (and shared libraries).

To handle this case the linker-generated `__wasm_init_memory`
function (that only exists in shared memory builds) must be
capable of loading memory segements at non-const offsets based
on the runtime value of `__memory_base`.

Duncan P. N. Exon Smith 4b5dc150b9 ADT: Change AlignedCharArrayUnion to an alias of std::aligned_union_t, NFC
All the users of `AlignedCharArrayUnion` were changed in
5b267fb796 to stop peeking inside (to look
at `buffer`), so this finishes gutting it. It's now an alias of
`std::aligned_union_t`, with a minor difference in template parameters
(`std::aligned_union_t` takes a minimum size and 0+ types, whereas this
just takes 1+ types... maybe a bit simpler to use correctly?).

A follow up will remove `AlignedCharArrayUnion` entirely, inlining this
alias into its users.

Update all the users of `AlignedCharArrayUnion` to stop peeking inside
(to look at `buffer`) so that a follow-up patch can replace it with an
alias to `std::aligned_union_t`.

This was reviewed as part of https://reviews.llvm.org/D92512, but I'm
splitting this bit out to commit first to reduce churn in case the
change to `AlignedCharArrayUnion` needs to be reverted for some
unexpected reason.

Arthur Eubanks 7f6f9f4cf9 [NewPM] Make pass adaptors less templatey
Currently PassBuilder.cpp is by far the file that takes longest to
compile. This is due to tons of templates being instantiated per pass.

Follow PassManager by using wrappers around passes to avoid making
the adaptors templated on the pass type. This allows us to move various
adaptors' run methods into .cpp files.

This reduces the compile time of PassBuilder.cpp on my machine from 66
to 39 seconds. It also reduces the size of opt from 685M to 676M.

Currently we have to duplicate the same checks in isPotentiallyReassociatable and tryReassociate. With simple pattern like add/mul this may be not a big deal. But the situation gets much worse when I try to add support for min/max. Min/Max may be represented by several instructions and can take different forms. In order reduce complexity for upcoming min/max support we need to restructure the code a bit to avoid mentioned code duplication.

David Blaikie 2e83ccc2ee ADT: Support copying of IntrusiveRefCntPtr objects
This was partially supported but untested for RefCountedBase (the
implicit copy assignment would've been problematic - so delete that) and
unsupported (would not have compiled, because std::atomic is
non-copyable) for ThreadSafeRefCountedBase (implement similar support
to RefCountedBase)

Fix the test that had a copy ctor for the derived object but called
RefCountBase's default ctor from that copy ctor - which meant it wasn't
actually testing RefCountBase's copy semantics.

Sean Silva ae9fd5578e [SmallVector] Allow SmallVector<T>
This patch adds a capability to SmallVector to decide a number of
inlined elements automatically. The policy is:

- A minimum of 1 inlined elements, with more as long as
sizeof(SmallVector<T>) <= 64.
- If sizeof(T) is "too big", then trigger a static_assert: this dodges
the more pathological cases

This is expected to systematically improve SmallVector use in the
LLVM codebase, which has historically been plagued by semi-arbitrary /
cargo culted N parameters, often leading to bad outcomes due to
excessive sizeof(SmallVector<T, N>). This default also makes
programming more convenient by avoiding edit/rebuild cycles due to
forgetting to type the N parameter.

Arthur Eubanks 2f0de58294 [NewPM] Support --print-before/after in NPM
This changes --print-before/after to be a list of strings rather than
legacy passes. (this also has the effect of not showing the entire list
of passes in --help-hidden after --print-before/after, which IMO is
great for making it less verbose).

Currently PrintIRInstrumentation passes the class name rather than pass
name to llvm::shouldPrintBeforePass(), meaning
llvm::shouldPrintBeforePass() never functions as intended in the NPM.
There is no easy way of converting class names to pass names outside of
within an instance of PassBuilder.

This adds a map of pass class names to their short names in
PassRegistry.def within PassInstrumentationCallbacks. It is populated
inside the constructor of PassBuilder, which takes a
PassInstrumentationCallbacks.

Add a pointer to PassInstrumentationCallbacks inside
PrintIRInstrumentation and use the newly created map.

This is a bit hacky, but I can't think of a better way since the short
id to class name only exists within PassRegistry.def. This also doesn't
handle passes not in PassRegistry.def but rather added via
PassBuilder::registerPipelineParsingCallback().

llvm/test/CodeGen/Generic/print-after.ll doesn't seem very useful now
with this change.

modimo 1860331932 [MemCpyOpt] Correctly merge alias scopes during call slot optimization
When MemCpyOpt performs call slot optimization it will concatenate the `alias.scope` metadata between the function call and the memcpy. However, scoped AA relies on the domains in metadata to be maintained in a caller-callee relationship. Naive concatenation breaks this assumption leading to bad AA results.

The fix is to take the intersection of domains then union the scopes within those domains.

The original bug came from a case of rust bad codegen which uses this bad aliasing to perform additional memcpy optimizations. As show in the added test case `%src` got forwarded past its lifetime leading to a dereference of garbage data.

Ahmed Bougacha f77c948d56 [Triple][MachO] Define "arm64e", an AArch64 subarch for Pointer Auth.
This also teaches MachO writers/readers about the MachO cpu subtype,
beyond the minimal subtype reader support present at the moment.

This also defines a preprocessor macro to allow users to distinguish
__arm64__ from __arm64e__.

arm64e defaults to an "apple-a12" CPU, which supports v8.3a, allowing
pointer-authentication codegen.
It also currently defaults to ios14 and macos11.

Fangrui Song 1d6ebdfb66 Switch from llvm::is_trivially_copyable to std::is_trivially_copyable
GCC<5 did not support std::is_trivially_copyable. Now LLVM builds require 5.1
we can migrate to std::is_trivially_copyable.

The Optional.h change made MSVC choke

Duncan P. N. Exon Smith 65c5c9f92e ADT: Rely on std::aligned_union_t for math in AlignedCharArrayUnion, NFC
Instead of computing the alignment and size of the `char` buffer in
`AlignedCharArrayUnion`, rely on the math in `std::aligned_union_t`.
Because some users of this rely on the `buffer` field existing with a
type convertible to `char *`, we can't change the field type, but we can
still avoid duplicating the logic.

A potential follow up would be to delete `AlignedCharArrayUnion` after
updating its users to use `std::aligned_union_t` directly; or if we like
our template parameters better, could update users to stop peeking
inside and then replace the definition with:
```
template <class T, class... Ts>
using AlignedCharArrayUnion = std::aligned_union_t<1, T, Ts...>;
```

Hongtao Yu 24d4291ca7 [CSSPGO] Pseudo probes for function calls.
An indirect call site needs to be probed for its potential call targets. With CSSPGO a direct call also needs a probe so that a calling context can be represented by a stack of callsite probes. Unlike pseudo probes for basic blocks that are in form of standalone intrinsic call instructions, pseudo probes for callsites have to be attached to the call instruction, thus a separate instruction would not work.

One possible way of attaching a probe to a call instruction is to use a special metadata that carries information about the probe. The special metadata will have to make its way through the optimization pipeline down to object emission. This requires additional efforts to maintain the metadata in various places. Given that the `!dbg` metadata is a first-class metadata and has all essential support in place , leveraging the `!dbg` metadata as a channel to encode pseudo probe information is probably the easiest solution.

With the requirement of not inflating `!dbg` metadata that is allocated for almost every instruction, we found that the 32-bit DWARF discriminator field which mainly serves AutoFDO can be reused for pseudo probes. DWARF discriminators distinguish identical source locations between instructions and with pseudo probes such support is not required. In this change we are using the discriminator field to encode the ID and type of a callsite probe and the encoded value will be unpacked and consumed right before object emission. When a callsite is inlined, the callsite discriminator field will go with the inlined instructions. The `!dbg` metadata of an inlined instruction is in form of a scope stack. The top of the stack is the instruction's original `!dbg` metadata and the bottom of the stack is for the original callsite of the top-level inliner. Except for the top of the stack, all other elements of the stack actually refer to the nested inlined callsites whose discriminator field (which actually represents a calliste probe) can be used together to represent the inline context of an inlined PseudoProbeInst or CallInst.

To avoid collision with the baseline AutoFDO in various places that handles dwarf discriminators where a check against  the `-pseudo-probe-for-profiling` switch is not available, a special encoding scheme is used to tell apart a pseudo probe discriminator from a regular discriminator. For the regular discriminator, if all lowest 3 bits are non-zero, it means the discriminator is basically empty and all higher 29 bits can be reversed for pseudo probe use.

Callsite pseudo probes are inserted in `SampleProfileProbePass` and a target-independent MIR pass `PseudoProbeInserter` is added to unpack the probe ID/type from `!dbg`.

Note that with this work the switch -debug-info-for-profiling will not work with -pseudo-probe-for-profiling anymore. They cannot be used at the same time.

Nick Desaulniers bc044a88ee [Inline] prevent inlining on stack protector mismatch
It's common for code that manipulates the stack via inline assembly or
that has to set up its own stack canary (such as the Linux kernel) would
like to avoid stack protectors in certain functions. In this case, we've
been bitten by numerous bugs where a callee with a stack protector is
inlined into an attribute((no_stack_protector)) caller, which
generally breaks the caller's assumptions about not having a stack
protector. LTO exacerbates the issue.

While developers can avoid this by putting all no_stack_protector
functions in one translation unit together and compiling those with
-fno-stack-protector, it's generally not very ergonomic or as
ergonomic as a function attribute, and still doesn't work for LTO. See also:

SSP attributes can be ordered by strength. Weakest to strongest, they
are: ssp, sspstrong, sspreq.  Callees with differing SSP attributes may be
inlined into each other, and the strongest attribute will be applied to the
caller. (No change)

After this change:
* A callee with no SSP attributes will no longer be inlined into a
  caller with SSP attributes.
* The reverse is also true: a callee with an SSP attribute will not be
  inlined into a caller with no SSP attributes.
* The alwaysinline attribute overrides these rules.

Functions that get synthesized by the compiler may not get inlined as a
result if they are not created with the same stack protector function
attribute as their callers.

Summary:
AIX uses the existing EH infrastructure in clang and llvm.
The major differences would be
1. AIX do not have CFI instructions.
2. AIX uses a new personality routine, named __xlcxx_personality_v1.
   It doesn't use the GCC personality rountine, because the
   interoperability is not there yet on AIX.
3. AIX do not use eh_frame sections. Instead, it would use a eh_info
section (compat unwind section) to store the information about
personality routine and LSDA data address.

Alex Zinenko 240dd92432 [OpenMPIRBuilder] forward arguments as pointers to outlined function
OpenMPIRBuilder::createParallel outlines the body region of the parallel
construct into a new function that accepts any value previously defined outside
the region as a function argument. This function is called back by OpenMP
runtime function __kmpc_fork_call, which expects trailing arguments to be
pointers. If the region uses a value that is not of a pointer type, e.g. a
struct, the produced code would be invalid. In such cases, make createParallel
emit IR that stores the value on stack and pass the pointer to the outlined
function instead. The outlined function then loads the value back and uses as
normal.

David Sherwood 71bd59f0cb [SVE] Add support for scalable vectors with vectorize.scalable.enable loop attribute
In this patch I have added support for a new loop hint called
vectorize.scalable.enable that says whether we should enable scalable
vectorization or not. If a user wants to instruct the compiler to
vectorize a loop with scalable vectors they can now do this as
follows:

ENABLE_EXPERIMENTAL_NEW_PASS_MANAGER instead of its value.

This change expands remarks hotness threshold option
-fdiagnostics-hotness-threshold in clang and *-remarks-hotness-threshold in
other tools to utilize hotness threshold from profile summary.

Remarks hotness filtering relies on several driver options. Table below lists
how different options are correlated and affect final remarks outputs:

Hendrik Greving d4ba5e15f4 Add MachineModuleInfo constructor with external MCContext
Adds a constructor to MachineModuleInfo and MachineModuleInfoWapperPass that
takes an external MCContext. If provided, the external context will be used
throughout codegen instead of MMI's default one.

This enables external drivers to take ownership of data put on the MMI's context
during codegen. The internal context is used otherwise and destroyed upon

Mircea Trofin 5fe10263ab [llvm][inliner] Reuse the inliner pass to implement 'always inliner'
Enable performing mandatory inlinings upfront, by reusing the same logic
as the full inliner, instead of the AlwaysInliner. This has the
following benefits:
- reduce code duplication - one inliner codebase
- open the opportunity to help the full inliner by performing additional
function passes after the mandatory inlinings, but before th full
inliner. Performing the mandatory inlinings first simplifies the problem
the full inliner needs to solve: less call sites, more contextualization, and,
depending on the additional function optimization passes run between the
2 inliners, higher accuracy of cost models / decision policies.

Note that this patch does not yet enable much in terms of post-always
inline function optimization.

Apart from getting the entry in the table (which is already a
separate function), the remaining logic is different for all
alignment types and is better combined with getAlignment().

This is a minor efficiency improvement, and should make further

Nick Lewycky fe43168348 Creating a named struct requires only a Context and a name, but looking up a struct by name requires a Module. The method on Module merely accesses the LLVMContextImpl and no data from the module itself, so this patch moves getTypeByName to a static method on StructType that takes a Context and a name.
There's a small number of users of this function, they are all updated.

This updates the C API adding a new method LLVMGetTypeByName2 that takes a context and a name.

Hongtao Yu c083fededf [CSSPGO] A Clang switch -fpseudo-probe-for-profiling for pseudo-probe instrumentation.
This change introduces a new clang switch `-fpseudo-probe-for-profiling` to enable AutoFDO with pseudo instrumentation. Please refer to https://reviews.llvm.org/D86193 for the whole story.

One implication from pseudo-probe instrumentation is that the profile is now sensitive to CFG changes. We perform the pseudo instrumentation very early in the pre-LTO pipeline, before any CFG transformation. This ensures that the CFG instrumented and annotated is stable and optimization-resilient.

The early instrumentation also allows the inliner to duplicate probes for inlined instances. When a probe along with the other instructions of a callee function are inlined into its caller function, the GUID of the callee function goes with the probe. This allows samples collected on inlined probes to be reported for the original callee function.

Sanjay Patel bfd2c216ea [IR][LoopRotate] avoid leaving phi with no operands (PR48296)
https://llvm.org/PR48296 shows an example where we delete all of the operands
of a phi without actually deleting the phi, and that is currently considered
invalid IR. The reduced test included here would crash for that reason.

A suggested follow-up is to loosen the assert to allow 0-operand phis
in unreachable blocks.

Nikita Popov 891170e863 [DL] Optimize address space zero lookup (NFC)
Information for pointer size/alignment/etc is queried a lot, but

Add an explicit check for address space zero and skip the search
in that case -- we need to specially handle the zero address space
anyway, as it serves as the fallback for all address spaces that
were not explicitly defined.

I initially wanted to simply replace the binary search with a
linear search, which would handle both address space zero and the
general case efficiently, but I was not sure whether there are
any degenerate targets that use more than a handful of declared
address spaces (in-tree, even AMDGPU only declares six).

Using the IRSimilarityIdentifier, we collect the SimilarityGroups and
sort them by how many instructions will be removed.  Each
IRSimilarityCandidate is used to define an OutlinableRegion.  Each
region is ordered by their occurrence in the Module and the regions that
are not compatible with previously outlined regions are discarded.

Each region is then extracted with the CodeExtractor into its own
function.

We test that correctly extract in:

For now, we will hardcode the result as 0.0 if the input is denormal or 0. That will
have the impact the precision. As the fsqrt added belong to the cold path of the
cmp+branch, it won't impact the performance for normal inputs for PowerPC, but improve
the precision if the input is denormal.

Nikita Popov 4df8efce80 [AA] Split up LocationSize::unknown()
Currently, we have some confusion in the codebase regarding the
meaning of LocationSize::unknown(): Some parts (including most of
BasicAA) assume that LocationSize::unknown() only allows accesses
after the base pointer. Some parts (various callers of AA) assume
that LocationSize::unknown() allows accesses both before and after
the base pointer (but within the underlying object).

This patch splits up LocationSize::unknown() into
LocationSize::afterPointer() and LocationSize::beforeOrAfterPointer()
to make this completely unambiguous. I tried my best to determine
which one is appropriate for all the existing uses.

The test changes in cs-cs.ll in particular illustrate a previously
clearly incorrect AA result: We were effectively assuming that
argmemonly functions were only allowed to access their arguments
after the passed pointer, but not before it. I'm pretty sure that
this was not intentional, and it's certainly not specified by
LangRef that way.

Add a basic implementation of getGatherScatterOpCost to BasicTTIImpl.

The implementation estimates the cost of scalarizing the loads/stores,
the cost of packing/extracting the individual lanes and the cost of
only selecting enabled lanes.

This more accurately reflects the current cost on targets like AArch64.

Paul Robinson cf1c774d6a [FastISel] Flush local value map on ever instruction
Local values are constants or addresses that can't be folded into
the instruction that uses them. FastISel materializes these in a
"local value" area that always dominates the current insertion
point, to try to avoid materializing these values more than once
(per block).

https://reviews.llvm.org/D43093 added code to sink these local
value instructions to their first use, which has two beneficial
effects. One, it is likely to avoid some unnecessary spills and
reloads; two, it allows us to attach the debug location of the
user to the local value instruction. The latter effect can
improve the debugging experience for debuggers with a "set next
statement" feature, such as the Visual Studio debugger and PS4
debugger, because instructions to set up constants for a given
statement will be associated with the appropriate source line.

There are also some constants (primarily addresses) that could be
produced by no-op casts or GEP instructions; the main difference
from "local value" instructions is that these are values from
separate IR instructions, and therefore could have multiple users
across multiple basic blocks. D43093 avoided sinking these, even
though they were emitted to the same "local value" area as the
other instructions. The patch comment for D43093 states:

  Local values may also be used by no-op casts, which adds the
  register to the RegFixups table. Without reversing the RegFixups
  map direction, we don't have enough information to sink these
  instructions.

This patch undoes most of D43093, and instead flushes the local
value map after(*) every IR instruction, using that instruction's
debug location. This avoids sometimes incorrect locations used
previously, and emits instructions in a more natural order.

This does mean materialized values are not re-used across IR
instruction boundaries; however, only about 5% of those values
were reused in an experimental self-build of clang.

(*) Actually, just prior to the next instruction. It seems like
it would be cleaner the other way, but I was having trouble
getting that to work.

Georgii Rymar fee910e522 [libObject,llvm-readelf] - Stop describing a section/segment in `notes_begin()`.
`notes_begin()` is used for iterating over notes. This API in some cases might print
section type and index. At the same time during iterating, the `Elf_Note_Iterator`
might omit it as it doesn't have this info.

Because of above we might have the redundant duplication of information in warnings:
(See D92021).

This change stops reporting section index/type in Object/ELF.h/notes_begin().

Georgii Rymar 5edb90c927 [obj2yaml] - Dump section offsets in some cases.
Currently we never dump the `sh_offset` key.
Though it sometimes an important information.

To reduce the noise this patch implements the following logic:
1) The "Offset" key for the first section is always emitted.
2) If we can derive the offset for a next section naturally,
   then the "Offset" key is omitted.

By "naturally" I mean that section[X] offset is expected to be:

offsetOf(section[X]) == alignTo(section[X - 1].sh_offset + section[X - 1].sh_size, section[X].sh_addralign)
```

So, when it has the expected value, we omit it from the output.

Added support for the options mabi=vec-extabi and mabi=vec-default which are analogous to qvecnvol and qnovecnvol when using XL on AIX.

manager, an individual pass may devirtualize an indirect call created by
a previous pass. For example, inlining may create a new indirect call
which is devirtualized by instcombine. Currently the devirtualization
wrapper will not see that because it only checks cgscc edges at the very
beginning and end of the pass (manager) it wraps.

This fixes some tests testing this exact behavior in the legacy PM.

Instead of checking WeakTrackingVHs for CallBases at the very beginning
and end of the pass it wraps, check every time
updateCGAndAnalysisManagerForPass() is called.

check-llvm and check-clang with -abort-on-max-devirt-iterations-reached
on by default doesn't show any failures outside of tests specifically
testing it so it doesn't needlessly rerun passes more than necessary.
(The NPM -O2/3 pipeline run the inliner/function simplification pipeline
under a devirtualization repeater pass up to 4 times by default).

shows that 7zip has ~1% compile time regression. I looked at it and saw
that there indeed was devirtualization happening that was not previously
caught, so now it reruns the CGSCC pipeline on some SCCs, which is WAI.

CallBases, but they can be RAUW'd with undef.

Emit the xdata for each function at .seh_endproc. This keeps the
exact same output header order for most code generated by the LLVM
CodeGen layer. (Sections still change order for code built from
assembly where functions lack an explicit .seh_handlerdata
directive, and functions with chained unwind info.)

The practical effect should be that assembly output lacks
superfluous ".seh_handlerdata; .text" pairs at the end of functions
that don't handle exceptions, which allows such functions to use
the AArch64 packed unwind format again.

Craig Topper 4252f7773a [SelectionDAG][ARM][AArch64][Hexagon][RISCV][X86] Add SDNPCommutative to fma and fmad nodes in tablegen. Remove explicit commuted patterns from targets.
X86 was already specially marking fma as commutable which allowed
tablegen to autogenerate commuted patterns. This moves it to the target
independent definition and fix up the targets to remove now
unneeded patterns.

Unfortunately, the tests change because the commuted version of
the patterns are generating operands in a different than the
explicit patterns.

Sanjay Patel 2717252c92 [CostModel] add basic handling for FP maximum/minimum intrinsics
This might be a regression for some ARM targets, but that should
be changed in the target-specific overrides.

There is apparently still no default lowering for these nodes,
so I am assuming these intrinsics are not in common use.
X86, PowerPC, and RISC-V for example, just crash given the most
basic IR.

An `llvm.pseudoprobe` intrinsic call will be lowered into a target-independent operation named `PSEUDO_PROBE`. Given the following instrumented IR,

Hongtao Yu f3c445697d [CSSPGO] IR intrinsic for pseudo-probe block instrumentation
This change introduces a new IR intrinsic named `llvm.pseudoprobe` for pseudo-probe block instrumentation. Please refer to https://reviews.llvm.org/D86193 for the whole story.

A pseudo probe is used to collect the execution count of the block where the probe is instrumented. This requires a pseudo probe to be persisting. The LLVM PGO instrumentation also instruments in similar places by placing a counter in the form of atomic read/write operations or runtime helper calls. While these operations are very persisting or optimization-resilient, in theory we can borrow the atomic read/write implementation from PGO counters and cut it off at the end of compilation with all the atomics converted into binary data. This was our initial design and we’ve seen promising sample correlation quality with it. However, the atomics approach has a couple issues:

1. IR Optimizations are blocked unexpectedly. Those atomic instructions are not going to be physically present in the binary code, but since they are on the IR till very end of compilation, they can still prevent certain IR optimizations and result in lower code quality.
2. The counter atomics may not be fully cleaned up from the code stream eventually.
3. Extra work is needed for re-targeting.

We choose to implement pseudo probes based on a special LLVM intrinsic, which is expected to have most of the semantics that comes with an atomic operation but does not block desired optimizations as much as possible. More specifically the semantics associated with the new intrinsic enforces a pseudo probe to be virtually executed exactly the same number of times before and after an IR optimization. The intrinsic also comes with certain flags that are carefully chosen so that the places they are probing are not going to be messed up by the optimizer while most of the IR optimizations still work. The core flags given to the special intrinsic is `IntrInaccessibleMemOnly`, which means the intrinsic accesses memory and does have a side effect so that it is not removable, but is does not access memory locations that are accessible by any original instructions. This way the intrinsic does not alias with any original instruction and thus it does not block optimizations as much as an atomic operation does. We also assign a function GUID and a block index to an intrinsic so that they are uniquely identified and not merged in order to achieve good correlation quality.

Let's now look at an example. Given the following LLVM IR:

Sanjay Patel e32bd35120 [CostModel] mostly remove cost-kind predicate for intrinsics in basic TTI implementation
This is re-applying a combination of f7eac51b9b and 8ec7ea3ddc as one patch
to avoid regressions now that we have better testing in place.

Those were reverted with 32dd5870ee because of crashing in experimental intrinsics.
That bug should be fixed with 7ae346434.

Paraphrased original commit messages:

This is the last step in removing cost-kind as a consideration in the
basic class model for intrinsics.
See D89461 for the start of that.
Subsequent commits dealt with each of the special-case intrinsics that
had customization here in the basic class. This should remove a barrier
to retrying D87188 (canonicalization to the abs intrinsic).

The ARM and x86 cost diffs seen here may be wrong because the
target-specific overrides have their own bugs, but we hope this is
less wrong - if something has a significant throughput cost, then it
should have a significant size / blended cost too by default.

The only behavioral diff in current regression tests is shown in the
x86 scatter-gather test (which is misplaced or broken because it runs
the entire -O3 pipeline) - we unrolled less, and we assume that is
a improvement.

Exception: in general, we want the *size* cost for a scalar call to be
cheap even if the other costs are expensive - we expect it to just be
a branch with some optional stack manipulation.

It is likely that we will want to carve out some
exceptions/overrides to this rule as follow-up patches for
calls that have some general and/or target-specific difference
to the expected lowering.

This was noticed as a regression in unrolling, so we have a test
for that now along with a couple of direct cost model tests.

If the assumed scalarization costs for the oversized vector
calls are not realistic, that would be another follow-up
refinement of the cost models.

Alex Richardson 3bc4157556 Add a default address space for globals to DataLayout
This is similar to the existing alloca and program address spaces (D37052)
and should be used when creating/accessing global variables.
We need this in our CHERI fork of LLVM to place all globals in address space 200.
This ensures that values are accessed using CHERI load/store instructions
instead of the normal MIPS/RISC-V ones.

The problem this is trying to fix is that most of the time the type of
globals is created using a simple PointerType::getUnqual() (or ::get() with
the default address-space value of 0). This does not work for us and we get
assertion/compilation/instruction selection failures whenever a new call
is added that uses the default value of zero.

In our fork we have removed the default parameter value of zero for most
address space arguments and use DL.getProgramAddressSpace() or
DL.getGlobalsAddressSpace() whenever possible. If this change is accepted,
I will upstream follow-up patches to use DL.getGlobalsAddressSpace() instead
of relying on the default value of 0 for PointerType::get(), etc.

This patch and the follow-up changes will not have any functional changes
for existing backends with the default globals address space of zero.
A follow-up commit will change the default globals address space for
AMDGPU to 1.

Create abstract template base classes for common functionality and give
classes more appropriate names.  The base classes handle all of the
determination of when a function or pass is "interesting" and should be
reported or filtered out. They have pure virtual functions which are called
when a change by a pass has been recognized so the derived class need only
provide the overrides to present the information about the changing IR.
There are at least 2 more change reporters to come (which were presented
in my tutorial at the 2020 llvm developer's meeting) that derive from
these classes.

Respond to review comments:  move function out of line, remove inline keyword,
remove unneeded qualifiers, simplify comparison.

Pavel Iliin 4d7df43ffd [AArch64] Out-of-line atomics (-moutline-atomics) implementation.
This patch implements out of line atomics for LSE deployment

Options -moutline-atomics and -mno-outline-atomics to enable and disable it
were added to clang driver. This is clang and llvm part of out-of-line atomics

Arthur Eubanks 72badbcdcc [NPM] Move more O0 pass building into PassBuilder
This moves handling of alwaysinline, coroutines, matrix lowering, PGO,
and LTO-required passes into PassBuilder. Much of this is replicated
between Clang and opt. Other out-of-tree users also replicate some of
this, such as Rust [1] replicating the alwaysinline, LTO, and PGO
passes.

The LTO passes are also now run in
build(Thin)LTOPreLinkDefaultPipeline() since they are semantically
required for (Thin)LTO.

Leonard Chan a97f62837f [llvm][IR] Add dso_local_equivalent Constant
The `dso_local_equivalent` constant is a wrapper for functions that represents a
value which is functionally equivalent to the global passed to this. That is, if
this accepts a function, calling this constant should have the same effects as
calling the function directly. This could be a direct reference to the function,
the `@plt` modifier on X86/AArch64, a thunk, or anything that's equivalent to the
resolved function as a call target.

When lowered, the returned address must have a constant offset at link time from
some other symbol defined within the same binary. The address of this value is
also insignificant. The name is leveraged from `dso_local` where use of a function
or variable is resolved to a symbol in the same linkage unit.

In this patch:
- Addition of `dso_local_equivalent` and handling it
- Update Constant::needsRelocation() to strip constant inbound GEPs and take
  advantage of `dso_local_equivalent` for relative references

This is useful for the [Relative VTables C++ ABI](https://reviews.llvm.org/D72959)
which makes vtables readonly. This works by replacing the dynamic relocations for
function pointers in them with static relocations that represent the offset between
the vtable and virtual functions. If a function is externally defined,
`dso_local_equivalent` can be used as a generic wrapper for the function to still
allow for this static offset calculation to be done.

This patch adds support for creating Guard Address-Taken IAT Entry Tables (.giats$y sections) in object files, matching the behavior of MSVC. These contain lists of address-taken imported functions, which are used by the linker to create the final GIATS table.
Additionally, if any DLLs are delay-loaded, the linker must look through the .giats tables and add the respective load thunks of address-taken imports to the GFIDS table, as these are also valid call targets.

[AsmWriter] Factor out mnemonic generation to accessible getMnemonic.
This patch factors out the part of printInstruction that gets the
mnemonic string for a given MCInst. This is intended to be used
subsequently for the instruction-mix remarks to display the final
mnemonic (D90040).

Unfortunately making `getMnemonic` available to the AsmPrinter
seems to require making it virtual. Not sure if there's a way around
that with the current layering of the AsmPrinters.

Philip Reames 257d33c815 [SCEV] Factor out part of wrap flag detection logic [NFC](try 2)
This is a cut down version of 1ec6e1 which was reverted due to a compile time issue.  The key changes made from that patch: 1) only infer the flags needed along each path, 2) be careful to preserve order of checks, and 3) avoid computing NW flags at all since we need to prove the stronger property (does not cross 0) in the caller anyways.

Assuming this doesn't trip regressions, I'm going to try weakening (1).  My end objective is to move flag inference into addrec construction.  If I can't weaken (1) without compile time impact, I'll have a problem.

David Truby 843525075b [MLIR][OpenMP] Add omp.wsloop operation
This adds a simple definition of a "workshare loop" operation for
the OpenMP MLIR dialect, excluding the "reduction" and "allocate"
clauses and without a custom parser and pretty printer.

The schedule clause also does not yet accept the modifiers that are
permitted in OpenMP 5.0.

Florian Hahn ca2e7e5999 [IRGen] Add !annotation metadata for auto-init stores.
This patch updates Clang's IRGen to add !annotation nodes with an
"auto-init" annotation to all stores for auto-initialization.

As discussed in 'RFC: Combining Annotation Metadata and Remarks'
(http://lists.llvm.org/pipermail/llvm-dev/2020-November/146393.html)
this allows using optimization remarks to track down where auto-init
code was inserted (and not removed by optimizations).

There are a few cases in the tests where !annotation gets dropped by
optimizations. Those optimizations will be updated in subsequent
patches.

This patch is based on a patch by Francis Visoiu Mistrih.

In an effort to make code around flag determination more readable, and (possibly) prepare for a follow up change, factor out some of the flag detection logic.  In the process, reduce the number of locations we mutate wrap flags by a couple.

Note that this isn't NFC.  The old code tried for NSW xor (NUW || NW).  This is, two different paths computed different sets of wrap flags.  The new code will try for all three.  The result is that some expressions end up with a few extra flags set.

Sanjay Patel 8ec7ea3ddc [CostModel] make default size cost for libcalls small (again)
This was changed recently with D90554 / f7eac51b9b
...because we had a regression testing blindspot for intrinsics
that are expected to be lowered to libcalls.

In general, we want the *size* cost for a scalar call to be cheap
even if the other costs are expensive - we expect it to just be
a branch with some optional stack manipulation.

It is likely that we will want to carve out some
exceptions/overrides to this rule as follow-up patches for
calls that have some general and/or target-specific difference
to the expected lowering.

This was noticed as a regression in unrolling, so we have a test
for that now along with a couple of direct cost model tests.

If the assumed scalarization costs for the oversized vector
calls are not realistic, that would be another follow-up
refinement of the cost models.

the bugreport was up for a significant amount of timer,
and there has been no activity to address it.
Therefore, just completely rip out all of misexpect handling.

I suspect, fixing it requires redesigning the internals of MD_misexpect.
Should anyone commit to fixing the implementation problem,
starting from clean slate may be better anyways.

and some of it's follow-ups, that don't stand on their own.

Handle the emission of the add in a single place, instead of three
different ones.

Don't emit an unnecessary add with zero to start with. It will get
dropped by InstCombine, but we may as well not create it in the
first place. This also means that InstCombine does not need to
specially handle this extra add.

This is conceptually NFC, but can affect worklist order etc.

Sam Clegg a28a466210 [WebAssembly] Add new relocation type for TLS data symbols
These relocations represent offsets from the __tls_base symbol.

Previously we were just using normal MEMORY_ADDR relocations and relying
on the linker to select a segment-offset rather and absolute value in
Symbol::getVirtualAddress().  Using an explicit relocation type allows
allow us to clearly distinguish absolute from relative relocations based
on the relocation information alone.

One place this is useful is being able to reject absolute relocation in
the PIC case, but still accept TLS relocations.

Add !annotation metadata and remarks pass.
This patch adds a new !annotation metadata kind which can be used to
attach annotation strings to instructions.

It also adds a new pass that emits summary remarks per function with the
counts for each annotation kind.

The intended uses cases for this new metadata is annotating
'interesting' instructions and the remarks should provide additional
insight into transformations applied to a program.

To motivate this, consider these specific questions we would like to get answered:

* How many stores added for automatic variable initialization remain after optimizations? Where are they?
* How many runtime checks inserted by a frontend could be eliminated? Where are the ones that did not get eliminated?

Lang Hames 1d0676b54c [ORC] Break up OrcJIT library, add Orc-RPC based remote TargetProcessControl
implementation.

This patch aims to improve support for out-of-process JITing using OrcV2. It
introduces two new class templates, OrcRPCTargetProcessControlBase and
OrcRPCTPCServer, which together implement the TargetProcessControl API by
forwarding operations to an execution process via an Orc-RPC Endpoint. These
utilities are used to implement out-of-process JITing from llvm-jitlink to
a new llvm-jitlink-executor tool.

This patch also breaks the OrcJIT library into three parts:
  -- OrcTargetProcess: Contains code needed by the JIT execution process.
  -- OrcShared: Contains code needed by the JIT execution and compiler
     processes
  -- OrcJIT: Everything else.

This break-up allows JIT executor processes to link against OrcTargetProcess
and OrcShared only, without having to link in all of OrcJIT. Clients executing
JIT'd code in-process should start linking against OrcTargetProcess as well as
OrcJIT.

In the near future these changes will enable:
  -- Removal of the OrcRemoteTargetClient/OrcRemoteTargetServer class templates
     which provided similar functionality in OrcV1.
  -- Restoration of Chapter 5 of the Building-A-JIT tutorial series, which will
     serve as a simple usage example for these APIs.
  -- Implementation of lazy, cross-target compilation in lli's -jit-kind=orc-lazy
     mode.

Alexandre Ganea 45b8a741fb [LLD][COFF] When using LLD-as-a-library, always prevent re-entrance on failures
This is a follow-up for D70378 (Cover usage of LLD as a library).

While debugging an intermittent failure on a bot, I recalled this scenario which
causes the issue:

1.When executing lld/test/ELF/invalid/symtab-sh-info.s L45, we reach
  lld:🧝:Obj-File::ObjFile() which goes straight into its base ELFFileBase(),
  then ELFFileBase::init().
2.At that point fatal() is thrown in lld/ELF/InputFiles.cpp L381, leaving a
  half-initialized ObjFile instance.
3.We then end up in lld::exitLld() and since we are running with LLD_IN_TEST, we
  hapily restore the control flow to CrashRecoveryContext::RunSafely() then back
  in lld::safeLldMain().
4.Before this patch, we called errorHandler().reset() just after, and this
  attempted to reset the associated SpecificAlloc<ObjFile<ELF64LE>>. That tried
  to free the half-initialized ObjFile instance, and more precisely its
  ObjFile::dwarf member.

Sometimes that worked, sometimes it failed and was catched by the
CrashRecoveryContext. This scenario was the reason we called
errorHandler().reset() through a CrashRecoveryContext.

But in some rare cases, the above repro somehow corrupted the heap, creating a
stack overflow. When the CrashRecoveryContext's filter (that is,
__except (ExceptionFilter(GetExceptionInformation()))) tried to handle the
exception, it crashed again since the stack was exhausted -- and that took the
whole application down. That is the issue seen on the bot. Locally it happens
about 1 times out of 15.

Now this situation can happen anywhere in LLD. Since catching stack overflows is
not a reliable scenario ATM when using CrashRecoveryContext, we're now
preventing further re-entrance when such failures occur, by signaling
lld::SafeReturn::canRunAgain=false. When running with LLD_IN_TEST=2 (or above),
only one iteration will be executed, instead of two.

David Sherwood 3225fcf11e [SVE] Deal with SVE tuple call arguments correctly when running out of registers
When passing SVE types as arguments to function calls we can run
out of hardware SVE registers. This is normally fine, since we
switch to an indirect mode where we pass a pointer to a SVE stack
object in a GPR. However, if we switch over part-way through
processing a SVE tuple then part of it will be in registers and
the other part will be on the stack.

I've fixed this by ensuring that:

1. When we don't have enough registers to allocate the whole block
   we mark any remaining SVE registers temporarily as allocated.
2. We temporarily remove the InConsecutiveRegs flags from the last
   tuple part argument and reinvoke the autogenerated calling
   convention handler. Doing this prevents the code from entering
   an infinite recursion and, in combination with 1), ensures we
   switch over to the Indirect mode.
3. After allocating a GPR register for the pointer to the tuple we
   then deallocate any SVE registers we marked as allocated in 1).
   We also set the InConsecutiveRegs flags back how they were before.
4. I've changed the AArch64ISelLowering LowerCALL and
   LowerFormalArguments functions to detect the start of a tuple,
   which involves allocating a single stack object and doing the
   correct numbers of legal loads and stores.

Max Kazantsev 2734a9ebf4 [NFC][SCEV] Generalize monotonicity check for full and limited iteration space
A piece of logic of `isLoopInvariantExitCondDuringFirstIterations` is actually
a generalized predicate monotonicity check. This patch moves it into the
corresponding method and generalizes it a bit.

Arnold Schwaighofer 431337662e [coro] Async coroutines: Allow more than 3 arguments in the dispatch function
We need to be able to call function pointers. Inline the dispatch
function.

Also inline the context projection function.

Transfer debug locations from the suspend point to the inlined functions.

Use the function argument index instead of the function argument in
coro.id.async. This solves any spurious use issues.

Coerce the arguments of the tail call function at a suspend point. The LLVM
optimizer seems to drop casts leading to a vararg intrinsic.

Arthur Eubanks b6ccff3d5f [NewPM] Provide method to run all pipeline callbacks, used for -O0
Some targets may add required passes via
TargetMachine::registerPassBuilderCallbacks(). We need to run those even
under -O0. As an example, BPFTargetMachine adds
BPFAbstractMemberAccessPass, a required pass.

This also allows us to clean up BackendUtil.cpp (and out-of-tree Rust
usage of the NPM) by allowing us to share added passes like coroutines
and sanitizers between -O0 and other optimization levels.

Since callbacks may end up not adding passes, we need to check if the
pass managers are empty before adding them, so PassManager now has an
isEmpty() function. For example, polly adds callbacks but doesn't always
add passes in those callbacks, so this is necessary to keep
-debug-pass-manager tests' output from changing depending on if polly is
enabled or not.
