Cyndy Ishida c20d1f90b5 [Object] Add tapi files to object
Summary:
The intention for this is to allow reading and printing symbols out from
llvm-nm. Tapi file, and Tapi universal follow a similiar format to
their respective MachO Object format.

The tests are dependent on llvm-nm processing tbd files which is why its in D66160

Cyndy Ishida 359840a6e4 [BinaryFormat] Teach identify_magic about Tapi files.
Summary:
Tapi files are YAML files that start with the !tapi tag. The only execption are
TBD v1 files, which don't have a tag. In that case we have to scan a little
further and check if the first key "archs" exists.

This is the first patch in a series of patches to add libObject support for
text-based dynamic library (.tbd) files.

This patch is practically exactly the same as D37820, that was never pushed to master,
and is needed for future commits related to reading tbd files for llvm-nm

Serge Guelton d1262a6e91 Be explicit about Windows coff name trailing character policy
It's okay to *not* copy the trailing zero of a windows section/symbol name.
This is compatible with strncpy behavior but gcc doesn't know that and
throws an invalid warning. Encode this behavior in a proper function.

George Rimar 9d5e8a476f [Object/COFF.h] - Stop returning std::error_code in a few methods. NFCI.
There are 4 methods that return std::error_code now,
though they do not have to because they are always succeed.
I refactored them.

This allows to simplify the code in tools a bit.

Yonghong Song a8dad5c79b [BPF] Fix bpf llvm-objdump issues.
Commit https://reviews.llvm.org/D57939 ("[DWARF] Refactor
RelocVisitor and fix computation of SHT_RELA-typed relocation entries)
made a change for relocation resolution when operating
on an object file.

The change unfortunately broke BPF as given SymbolValue (S) and
Addent (A), previously relocation is resolved to
    S + A
and after the change, it is resolved to
    S

This patch fixed the issue by resolving relocation correctly.

It looks not all relocation resolution reaches here and I did not
trace down exactly when. But I do find if the object file includes
codes in two different ELF sections than default ".text",
the above bug will be triggered.

This patch included a trivial two function source code to
demonstrate this issue. The relocation for .debug_loc is resolved
incorrectly due to this and llvm-objdump cannot display source
annotated assembly.

Jonas Devlieghere 0eaee545ee [llvm] Migrate llvm::make_unique to std::make_unique
Now that we've moved to C++14, we no longer need the llvm::make_unique
implementation from STLExtras.h. This patch is a mechanical replacement
of (hopefully) all the llvm::make_unique instances across the monorepo.

George Rimar bcc00e1afb Recommit r368812 "[llvm/Object] - Convert SectionRef::getName() to return Expected<>"
Changes: no changes. A fix for the clang code will be landed right on top.

Original commit message:

SectionRef::getName() returns std::error_code now.
Returning Expected<> instead has multiple benefits.

For example, it forces user to check the error returned.
Also Expected<> may keep a valuable string error message,
what is more useful than having a error code.
(Object\invalid.test was updated to show the new messages printed.)

This patch makes a change for all users to switch to Expected<> version.

Note: in a few places the error returned was ignored before my changes.
In such places I left them ignored. My intention was to convert the interface
used, and not to improve and/or the existent users in this patch.
(Though I think this is good idea for a follow-ups to revisit such places
and either remove consumeError calls or comment each of them to clarify why
it is OK to have them).

Sean Fertile 29141da75e [XCOFF] Use a single symbolic constant for the size of an embeded name. [NFC]
Convert SymbolNameSize and SectionNameSize into just `NameSize`. The length of
a name embeded in a symbol table entry or section header table entry is length 8
for Sections, Symbols and Files. No need to have a distinct constant for each
one. Also removes the Size argument to 'generateStringRef' as the size is
always 'XCOFF::NameSize'.

Owen Reynolds 24f3e102a6 [llvm-ar] Fix support for archives with members larger than 4GB
llvm-ar outputs a strange error message when handling archives with
members larger than 4GB due to not checking file size when passing the
value as an unsigned 32 bit integer. This overflow issue caused
malformed archives to be created.:

is over the formats size limit, a 10 digit decimal integer.

Alex Bradbury 44deaf7e54 [DWARF][RISCV] Add support for RISC-V relocations needed for debug info
When code relaxation is enabled many RISC-V fixups are not resolved but
instead relocations are emitted. This happens even for DWARF debug
sections. Therefore, to properly support the parsing of DWARF debug info
we need to be able to resolve RISC-V relocations. This patch adds:

* Support for RISC-V relocations in RelocationResolver
* DWARF support for two relocations per object file offset
* DWARF changes to support relocations in more DIE fields

The two relocations per offset change is needed because some RISC-V
relocations (used for label differences) come in pairs.

Relocations can also be emitted for DWARF fields where relocations were
not yet evaluated. Adding relocation support for some of these fields is
essencial. On the other hand, LLVM currently emits RISC-V relocations
for fixups that could be safely evaluated, since they can never be
affected by code relaxations. This patch also adds relocation support
for the fields affected by those extraneous relocations (the DWARF unit
entry Length, and the DWARF debug line entry TotalLength and
PrologueLength), for testing purposes.

Reid Kleckner cc418a3af4 [Support] Move llvm::MemoryBuffer to sys::fs::file_t
Summary:
On Windows, Posix integer file descriptors are a compatibility layer
over native file handles provided by the C runtime. There is a hard
limit on the maximum number of file descriptors that a process can open,
and the limit is 8192. LLD typically doesn't run into this limit because
it opens input files, maps them into memory, and then immediately closes
the file descriptor. This prevents it from running out of FDs.

For various reasons, I'd like to open handles to every input file and
keep them open during linking. That requires migrating MemoryBuffer over
to taking open native file handles instead of integer FDs.

Sean Fertile 837ae69f8b [Object][XCOFF] Add support for 64-bit file header and section header dumping.
Adds a readobj dumper for 32-bit and 64-bit section header tables, and extend
support for the file-header dumping to include 64-bit object files. Also
refactors the binary file parsing to be done in a helper function in an attempt
to cleanup error handeling.

George Rimar d0921a4696 [Object/ELF.h] - Improve error reporting.
The errors coming from ELF.h are usually not very
useful because they are uninformative. This patch is a
first step to improve the situation.

I tested this patch with a run of check-llvm and found
that few messages are untested. In this patch, I did not
add more tests but marked all such cases with a "TODO" comment.

For all tested messages I extended the error text to
provide more details (see test cases changed).

Nico Weber 1dc2123d64 Share /machine: handling code with llvm-cvtres too
r363016 let lld-link and llvm-lib share the /machine: parsing code.
This lets llvm-cvtres share it as well.

Making llvm-cvtres depend on llvm-lib seemed a bit strange (it doesn't
need llvm-lib's dependencies on BinaryFormat and BitReader) and I
couldn't find a good place to put this code. Since it's just a few
lines, put it in lib/Object for now.

Nico Weber af6bc65ddf lld-link: Reject more than one resource .obj file
Users are exepcted to pass all .res files to the linker, which then
merges all the resource in all .res files into a tree structure and then
converts the final tree structure to a .obj file with .rsrc$01 and
.rsrc$02 sections and then links that.

If the user instead passes several .obj files containing such resources,
the correct thing to do would be to have custom code to merge the trees
in the resource sections instead of doing normal section merging -- but
link.exe rejects if multiple resource obj files are passed in with
LNK4078, so let lld-link do that too instead of silently writing broken
.rsrc sections in that case.

The only real way to run into this is if users manually convert .res
files to .obj files by running cvtres and then handing the resulting
.obj files to lld-link instead, which in practice likely never happens.

(lld-link is slightly stricter than link.exe now: If link.exe is passed
one .obj file created by cvtres, and a .res file, for some reason it
just emits a warning instead of an error and outputs strange looking
data. lld-link now errors out on mixed input like this.)

One way users could accidentally run into this is the following
scenario: If a .res file is passed to lib.exe, then lib.exe calls
cvtres.exe on the .res file before putting it in the output .lib.
(llvm-lib currently doesn't do this.)
link.exe's /wholearchive seems to only add obj files referenced from the
static library index, but lld-link current really adds all files in the
archive. So if lld-link /wholearchive is used with .lib files produced
by lib.exe and .res files were among the files handed to lib.exe, we
previously silently produced invalid output, but now we error out.

link.exe's /wholearchive semantics on the other hand mean that it
wouldn't load the resource object files from the .lib file at all.
Since this scenario is probably still an unlikely corner case,
the difference in behavior here seems fine -- and lld-link might have to
change to use link.exe's /wholearchive semantics in the future anyways.

Nico Weber dd6019526d Let writeWindowsResourceCOFF() take a TimeStamp parameter
For lld, pass in Config->Timestamp (which is set based on lld's
/timestamp: and /Brepro flags). Since the writeWindowsResourceCOFF()
data is only used in-memory by LLD and the obj's timestamp isn't used
for anything in the output, this doesn't change behavior.

For llvm-cvtres, add an optional /timestamp: parameter, and use the
current behavior of calling time() if the parameter is not passed in.

This doesn't really change observable behavior (unless someone passes
/timestamp: to llvm-cvtres, which wasn't possible before), but it
removes the last unqualified call to time() from llvm/lib, which seems
like a good thing.

Peter Smith 49d7221f71 [AArch64][ELF][llvm-readobj] Add support for BTI and PAC dynamic tags
ELF for the 64-bit Arm Architecture defines two processor-specific dynamic
tags:
DT_AARCH64_BTI_PLT 0x70000001, d_val
DT_AARCH64_PAC_PLT 0x70000003, d_val

These presence of these tags indicate that PLT sequences have been
protected using Branch Target Identification and Pointer Authentication
respectively. The presence of both indicates that the PLT sequences have
been protected with both Branch Target Identification and Pointer
Authentication.

This patch adds the tags and tests for llvm-readobj and yaml2obj.

As some of the processor specific dynamic tags overlap, this patch splits
them up, keeping their original default value if they were not previously
mentioned explicitly in a switch case.

Sjoerd Meijer 930dee2c0b [ARM] add target arch definitions for 8.1-M and MVE
This adds:
- LLVM subtarget features to make all the new instructions conditional on,
- CPU and FPU names for use on clang's command line, with default FPUs set
  so that "armv8.1-m.main+fp" and "armv8.1-m.main+fp.dp" will select the right
  FPU features,
- architecture extension names "mve" and "mve.fp",
- ABI build attribute support for v8.1-M (a new value for Tag_CPU_arch) and MVE
  (a new actual tag).

Simon Tatham 760df47b77 [ARM] Replace fp-only-sp and d16 with fp64 and d32.
Those two subtarget features were awkward because their semantics are
reversed: each one indicates the _lack_ of support for something in
the architecture, rather than the presence. As a consequence, you
don't get the behavior you want if you combine two sets of feature
bits.

Each SubtargetFeature for an FP architecture version now comes in four
versions, one for each combination of those options. So you can still
say (for example) '+vfp2' in a feature string and it will mean what
it's always meant, but there's a new string '+vfp2d16sp' meaning the
version without those extra options.

A lot of this change is just mechanically replacing positive checks
for the old features with negative checks for the new ones. But one
more interesting change is that I've rearranged getFPUFeatures() so
that the main FPU feature is appended to the output list *before*
rather than after the features derived from the Restriction field, so
that -fp64 and -d32 can override defaults added by the main feature.

Ben Dunbobbin 1d16515fb4 [ELF] Implement Dependent Libraries Feature
This patch implements a limited form of autolinking primarily designed to allow
either the --dependent-library compiler option, or "comment lib" pragmas (
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/preprocessor/comment-c-cpp?view=vs-2017) in
C/C++ e.g. #pragma comment(lib, "foo"), to cause an ELF linker to automatically
add the specified library to the link when processing the input file generated
by the compiler.

Currently this extension is unique to LLVM and LLD. However, care has been taken
to design this feature so that it could be supported by other ELF linkers.

The design goals were to provide:

- A simple linking model for developers to reason about.
- The ability to to override autolinking from the linker command line.
- Source code compatibility, where possible, with "comment lib" pragmas in other
  environments (MSVC in particular).

Dependent library support is implemented differently for ELF platforms than on
the other platforms. Primarily this difference is that on ELF we pass the
dependent library specifiers directly to the linker without manipulating them.
This is in contrast to other platforms where they are mapped to a specific
linker option by the compiler. This difference is a result of the greater
variety of ELF linkers and the fact that ELF linkers tend to handle libraries in
a more complicated fashion than on other platforms. This forces us to defer
handling the specifiers to the linker.

In order to achieve a level of source code compatibility with other platforms
we have restricted this feature to work with libraries that meet the following
"reasonable" requirements:

1. There are no competing defined symbols in a given set of libraries, or
   if they exist, the program owner doesn't care which is linked to their
   program.
2. There may be circular dependencies between libraries.

The binary representation is a mergeable string section (SHF_MERGE,
SHF_STRINGS), called .deplibs, with custom type SHT_LLVM_DEPENDENT_LIBRARIES
(0x6fff4c04). The compiler forms this section by concatenating the arguments of
the "comment lib" pragmas and --dependent-library options in the order they are
encountered. Partial (-r, -Ur) links are handled by concatenating .deplibs
sections with the normal mergeable string section rules. As an example, #pragma
comment(lib, "foo") would result in:

.section ".deplibs","MS",@llvm_dependent_libraries,1
         .asciz "foo"

For LTO, equivalent information to the contents of a the .deplibs section can be
retrieved by the LLD for bitcode input files.

LLD processes the dependent library specifiers in the following way:

1. Dependent libraries which are found from the specifiers in .deplibs sections
   of relocatable object files are added when the linker decides to include that
   file (which could itself be in a library) in the link. Dependent libraries
   behave as if they were appended to the command line after all other options. As
   a consequence the set of dependent libraries are searched last to resolve
   symbols.
2. It is an error if a file cannot be found for a given specifier.
3. Any command line options in effect at the end of the command line parsing apply
   to the dependent libraries, e.g. --whole-archive.
4. The linker tries to add a library or relocatable object file from each of the
   strings in a .deplibs section by; first, handling the string as if it was
   specified on the command line; second, by looking for the string in each of the
   library search paths in turn; third, by looking for a lib<string>.a or
   lib<string>.so (depending on the current mode of the linker) in each of the
   library search paths.
5. A new command line option --no-dependent-libraries tells LLD to ignore the
   dependent libraries.

Rationale for the above points:

1. Adding the dependent libraries last makes the process simple to understand
   from a developers perspective. All linkers are able to implement this scheme.
2. Error-ing for libraries that are not found seems like better behavior than
   failing the link during symbol resolution.
3. It seems useful for the user to be able to apply command line options which
   will affect all of the dependent libraries. There is a potential problem of
   surprise for developers, who might not realize that these options would apply
   to these "invisible" input files; however, despite the potential for surprise,
   this is easy for developers to reason about and gives developers the control
   that they may require.
4. This algorithm takes into account all of the different ways that ELF linkers
   find input files. The different search methods are tried by the linker in most
   obvious to least obvious order.
5. I considered adding finer grained control over which dependent libraries were
   ignored (e.g. MSVC has /nodefaultlib:<library>); however, I concluded that this
   is not necessary: if finer control is required developers can fall back to using
   the command line directly.

If two .res files contain the same resource, cvtres.exe (and hence
link.exe) reject the input with this message:

    CVTRES : fatal error CVT1100: duplicate resource.  type:STRING, name:101, language:0x0409
    LINK : fatal error LNK1123: failure during conversion to COFF: file invalid or corrupt

llvm-cvtres (and lld-link) used to silently pick one of the duplicate
resources instead. This patch makes them report an error as well.
We slightly improve on cvtres by printing the name of two .res files
containing duplicate entries as well.

Pavel Labath aaff480c68 Object/Minidump: Add support for reading the ModuleList stream
Summary:
The ModuleList stream consists of an integer giving the number of
entries in the list, followed by the list itself. Each entry in the list
describes a module (dynamically loaded objects which were loaded in the
process when it crashed (or when the minidump was generated).

The code for reading the list is relatively straight-forward, with a
single gotcha. Some minidump writers are emitting padding after the
"count" field in order to align the subsequent list on 8 byte boundary
(this depends on how their ModuleList type was defined and the native
alignment of various types on their platform). Fortunately, the minidump
format contains enough redundancy (in the form of the stream length
field in the stream directory), which allows us to detect this situation
and correct it.

This patch just adds the ability to parse the stream. Code for
conversion to/from yaml will come in a follow-up patch.

Robert Widmann c76b621530 [LLVM-C] Begin to Expose A More General Binary Interface
Summary:
Provides a new type, `LLVMBinaryRef`, and a binding to `llvm::object::createBinary` for more general interoperation with binary files than `LLVMObjectFileRef`.  It also provides the proper non-consuming API for input buffers and populates an out parameter for error handling if necessary - two things the previous API did not do.

In a follow-up, I'll define section and symbol iterators and begin to build upon the existing test infrastructure.

This patch is a first step towards deprecating that API and replacing it with something more robust.

We need to read the strings from the minidump files as little-endian,
regardless of the host byte order.

I definitely remember thinking about this case while writing the patch
(and in fact, I have implemented that for the "write" case), but somehow
I have ended up not implementing the byte swapping when reading the
data. This adds the necessary byte-swapping and should hopefully fix
test failures on big-endian bots.

Pavel Labath 51d9fa0a22 Minidump: Add support for reading/writing strings
Summary:
Strings in minidump files are stored as a 32-bit length field, giving
the length of the string in *bytes*, which is followed by the
appropriate number of UTF16 code units. The string is also supposed to
be null-terminated, and the null-terminator is not a part of the length
field. This patch:
- adds support for reading these strings out of the minidump file (this
  implementation does not depend on proper null-termination)
- adds support for writing them to a minidump file
- using the previous two pieces implements proper (de)serialization of
  the CSDVersion field of the SystemInfo stream. Previously, this was
  only read/written as hex, and no attempt was made to access the
  referenced string -- now this string is read and written correctly.

The changes are tested via yaml2obj|obj2yaml round-trip as well as a
unit test which checks the corner cases of the string deserialization
logic.

Sam Clegg 492f752969 [WebAssembly] Initial implementation of PIC code generation
This change implements lowering of references global symbols in PIC
mode.

This change implements lowering of global references in PIC mode using a
new @GOT reference type. @GOT references can be used with function or
data symbol names combined with the get_global instruction. In this case
the linker will insert the wasm global that stores the address of the
symbol (either in memory for data symbols or in the wasm table for
function symbols).

For now I'm continuing to use the R_WASM_GLOBAL_INDEX_LEB relocation
type for this type of reference which means that this relocation type
can refer to either a global or a function or data symbol. We could
choose to introduce specific relocation types for GOT entries in the

  + RELA: The addend encoded in RelocationRef is used, e.g. getELFAddend(R)
* and add another set of supports* functions to check if a given relocation type is handled.
  DWARFObjInMemory uses them to fail early.

Steven Wu 5a59354760 [Object] Fix reading objects created with -fembed-bitcode-marker
Currently, this fails with many tools, e.g.

$ clang -fembed-bitcode-marker -c -o test.o test.c
$ nm test.o
nm: test.o The file was not recognized as a valid object file

-fembed-bitcode-marker creates a LLVM,bitcode section consisting of a single
byte. When reading the object file, IRObjectFile::findBitcodeInObject succeeds,
causing SymbolicFile::createSymbolicFile to try to read the "bitcode" rather
than using the outer Mach-O data - when then fails.

Fix this by making findBitcodeInObject return an error if the section size <= 1.

Summary:
This patch adds basic support for reading minidump files. It contains
the definitions of various important minidump data structures (header,
stream directory), and of one minidump stream (SystemInfo). The ability
to read other streams will be added in follow-up patches. However, all
streams can be read even now as raw data, which means lldb's minidump
support (where this code is taken from) can be immediately rebased on
top of this patch as soon as it lands.

As we don't have any support for generating minidump files (yet), this
tests the code via unit tests with some small handcrafted binaries in
the form of c char arrays.

Michael Trent 02a2ce9a4b Fix Mach-O bind and rebase validation errors in libObject
Summary:
llvm-objdump (via libObject) validates DYLD_INFO rebase and bind
entries against the basic structure found in the Mach-O file before
evaluating the contents of those entries. Certain malformed Mach-Os can
defeat the validation check and force llvm-objdump (libObject) to crash.

The previous logic verified a rebase or bind started in a valid Mach-O
section, but did not verify that the section wholely contained the
fixup. It also generally allows rebases or binds to start immediately
after a valid section even if that range is not itself part of a valid
section. Finally, bind and rebase opcodes that indicate more than one
fixup (apply N times...) are not completely validated: only the first
and final fixups are checked.

The previous logic also rejected certain binaries as false positives.
Some bind and rebase opcodes can modify the state machine such that the
next bind or rebase will fail. libObject will reject these opcodes as
invalid in order to be helpful and print an error message associated
with the instruction that caused the problem, even though the binary is
not actually illegal until it consumes the invalid state in the state
machine. In other words, libObject may reject a Mach-O binary that
Apple's dynamic linker may consider legal. The original version of
macho-rebase-add-addr-uleb-too-big is an example of such a binary.

I have replaced the existing checkSegAndOffset and checkCountAndSkip
functions with a single function, checkSegAndOffsets, which validates
all of the fixups realized by a DYLD_INFO opcode. checkSegAndOffsets
verifies that a Mach-O section fully contains each fixup. Every fixup
realized by an opcode is validated, and some (but not all!)
inconsistencies in the state machine are allowed until a fixup is
realized. This means that libObject may fail on an opcode that realizes
a fixup, not on the opcode that introduced the arithmetic error.

Existing test cases have been modified to reflect the changes in error
messages returned by libObject. What's more, the test case for 
macho-rebase-add-addr-uleb-too-big has been modified so that it actually
triggers the error condition; the new code in libObject considers the
original test binary "legal".

Thomas Lively f6f4f84378 [WebAssembly] Target features section
Summary:
Implements a new target features section in assembly and object files
that records what features are used, required, and disallowed in
WebAssembly objects. The linker uses this information to ensure that
all objects participating in a link are feature-compatible and records
the set of used features in the output binary for use by optimizers
and other tools later in the toolchain.

The "atomics" feature is always required or disallowed to prevent
linking code with stripped atomics into multithreaded binaries. Other
features are marked used if they are enabled globally or on any
function in a module.

Future CLs will add linker flags for ignoring feature compatibility
checks and for specifying the set of allowed features, implement using
the presence of the "atomics" feature to control the type of memory
and segments in the linked binary, and add front-end flags for
relaxing the linkage policy for atomics.

Jonas Hahnfeld c64d73cce2 [ELF] Fix GCC8 warnings about "fall through", NFCI
Add break statements in Object/ELF.cpp since the code should consider the
generic tags for Hexagon, MIPS, and PPC. Add a test (copied from llvm-readobj)
to show that this works correctly (earlier versions of this patch would have
asserted).

The warnings in X86ELFObjectWriter.cpp are actually false-positives since
the nested switch() handles all possible values and returns in all cases.
Make this explicit by adding llvm_unreachable's.

Michael Trent 76d66123b2 Detect malformed LC_LINKER_COMMANDs in Mach-O binaries
Summary:
llvm-objdump can be tricked into reading beyond valid memory and
segfaulting if LC_LINKER_COMMAND strings are not null terminated. libObject
does have code to validate the integrity of the LC_LINKER_COMMAND struct,
but this validator improperly assumes linker command strings are null
terminated.

The solution is to report an error if a string extends beyond the end of
the LC_LINKER_COMMAND struct.

Michael Trent 7dcfac6171 objdump fails to parse Mach-O binaries with n_desc bearing stabs
Summary:
The objdump Mach-O parser uses MachOObjectFile::checkSymbolTable() to
verify the symbol table is in a legal state before dereferencing the
offsets in the table. This routine missed a test for N_STAB symbols
when validating the two-level name space library ordinal for undefined
symbols. If the binary in question contained a value in the n_desc high
byte that is larger than the list of loaded dylibs, checkSymbolTable()
will flag the library ordinal as being out of range. Most of the time
the n_desc field is set to 0 or to small values, but old final linked
binaries exist with N_STAB symbols bearing non-trivial n_desc fields. 

The change here is simply to verify a symbol is not an N_STAB symbol
before consulting the values of n_other or n_desc.

Thomas Lively 9757bba440 [WebAssembly] Generalize section ordering constraints
Summary:
Changes from using a total ordering of known sections to using a
dependency graph approach. This allows our tools to accept and process
binaries that are compliant with the spec and tool conventions that
would have been previously rejected. It also means our own tools can
do less work to enforce an artificially imposed ordering. Using a
general mechanism means fewer special cases and exceptions in the
ordering logic.

When adding one thin archive to another, we currently chop off the relative path to the flattened members. For instance, when adding `foo/child.a` (which contains `x.txt`) to `parent.a`, when flattening it we should add it as `foo/x.txt` (which exists) instead of `x.txt` (which does not exist).

As a note, this also undoes the `IsNew` parameter of handling relative paths in r288280. The unit test there still passes.

Lang Hames 3e040e05f8 [ADT] Add a fallible_iterator wrapper.
A fallible iterator is one whose increment or decrement operations may fail.
This would usually be supported by replacing the ++ and -- operators with
methods that return error:

    class MyFallibleIterator {
    public:
      // ...
      Error inc();
      Errro dec();
      // ...
    };

The downside of this style is that it no longer conforms to the C++ iterator
concept, and can not make use of standard algorithms and features such as
range-based for loops.

The fallible_iterator wrapper takes an iterator written in the style above
and adapts it to (mostly) conform with the C++ iterator concept. It does this
by providing standard ++ and -- operator implementations, returning any errors
generated via a side channel (an Error reference passed into the wrapper at
construction time), and immediately jumping the iterator to a known 'end'
value upon error. It also marks the Error as checked any time an iterator is
compared with a known end value and found to be inequal, allowing early exit
from loops without redundant error checking*.

Usage looks like:

    MyFallibleIterator I = ..., E = ...;

    Error Err = Error::success();
    for (auto &Elem : make_fallible_range(I, E, Err)) {
      // Loop body is only entered when safe.

      // Early exits from loop body permitted without checking Err.
      if (SomeCondition)
        return;

    }
    if (Err)
      // Handle error.

* Since failure causes a fallible iterator to jump to end, testing that a
  fallible iterator is not an end value implicitly verifies that the error is a
  success value, and so is equivalent to an error check.
