George Karpenkov a763fdfadd [ASTMatcher] Extend hasAnyArgument to ObjCMessageExpr
Currently hasArgument works with both ObjC messages and function calls,
but not hasAnyArgument.
This patch fixes that discrepancy, as it's often more convenient to use
hasAnyArgument.

On a more general note, it would be great to have a common superclass
for objc-call and function call, and a matcher matching that, but that's
probably a job for another commit.

Akira Hatanaka 7275da0f2e [ObjC] Allow declaring __strong pointer fields in structs in Objective-C
ARC mode.

Declaring __strong pointer fields in structs was not allowed in
Objective-C ARC until now because that would make the struct non-trivial
to default-initialize, copy/move, and destroy, which is not something C
was designed to do. This patch lifts that restriction.

Special functions for non-trivial C structs are synthesized that are
needed to default-initialize, copy/move, and destroy the structs and
manage the ownership of the objects the __strong pointer fields point
to. Non-trivial structs passed to functions are destructed in the callee
function.

Eric Fiselier 123c749ee9 [Driver] Add option to manually control discarding value names in LLVM IR.
Summary:
Currently, assertion-disabled Clang builds emit value names when generating LLVM IR. This is controlled by the `NDEBUG` macro, and is not easily overridable. In order to get IR output containing names from a release build of Clang, the user must manually construct the CC1 invocation w/o the `-discard-value-names` option. This is less than ideal.

For example, Godbolt uses a release build of Clang, and so when asked to emit LLVM IR the result lacks names, making it harder to read. Manually invoking CC1 on Compiler Explorer is not feasible.

This patch adds the driver options `-fdiscard-value-names` and `-fno-discard-value-names` which allow the user to override the default behavior. If neither is specified, the old behavior remains.

This adds the frontend support required to support the use of the
comment pragma to enable auto linking on ELFish targets. This is a
generic ELF extension supported by LLVM. We need to change the handling

encoding for the dependent library descriptor. Without the custom
handling of the PCK_Lib directive, the -l prefixed option would be
encoded into the resulting object (which is treated as a frontend

Eric Fiselier 1af6c114cc Add `__reference_binds_to_temporary` trait for checking safe reference initialization.
Summary:
The STL types `std::pair` and `std::tuple` can both store reference types. However their constructors cannot adequately check if the initialization of reference types is safe. For example:

```
std::tuple<std::tuple<int> const&> t = 42;
// The stored reference is already dangling.
```

Libc++ has a best effort attempts in tuple to diagnose this, but they're not able to handle all valid cases (If I'm not mistaken). For example initialization of a reference from the result of a class's conversion operator. Libc++ would benefit from having a builtin traits which can provide a much better implementation.

This patch introduce the `__reference_binds_to_temporary(T, U)` trait that determines whether a reference of type `T` bound to an expression of type `U` would bind to a materialized temporary object.

Note that the trait simply returns false if `T` is not a reference type instead of reporting it as an error.

```
static_assert(__is_constructible(int const&, long));
static_assert(__reference_binds_to_temporary(int const&, long));
```

Clang is inherently a cross compiler and can generate code for any target
enabled during build. It however requires to specify many parameters in the
invocation, which could be hardcoded during configuration process in the
case of single-target compiler. The purpose of configuration files is to
make specifying clang arguments easier.

A configuration file is a collection of driver options, which are inserted
into command line before other options specified in the clang invocation.
It groups related options together and allows specifying them in simpler,
more flexible and less error prone way than just listing the options
somewhere in build scripts. Configuration file may be thought as a "macro"
that names an option set and is expanded when the driver is called.

Use of configuration files is described in `UserManual.rst`.

Most attributes will now use the Clang<"name"> construct to provide both __attribute__((name)) and [[clang::name]] syntaxes for the attribute. Because this is a mechanical change that only introduces new spellings, there are no test cases for the commit.

Alex Lorenz d8ec431143 [Preprocessor] Implement __is_target_{arch|vendor|os|environment} function-like
builtin macros

This patch implements the __is_target_arch, __is_target_vendor, __is_target_os,
and __is_target_environment Clang preprocessor extensions that were proposed by
@compnerd in Bob's cfe-dev post:
http://lists.llvm.org/pipermail/cfe-dev/2017-November/056166.html.

These macros can be used to examine the components of the target triple at
compile time. A has_builtin(is_target_???) preprocessor check can be used to
check for their availability.

__is_target_arch allows you to check if an arch is specified without worring
about a specific subarch, e.g.

Craig Topper 9a724aa38f [Driver][CodeGen] Add -mprefer-vector-width driver option and attribute during CodeGen.
This adds a new command line option -mprefer-vector-width to specify a preferred vector width for the vectorizers. Valid values are 'none' and unsigned integers. The driver will check that it meets those constraints. Specific supported integers will be managed by the targets in the backend.

Clang will take the value and add it as a new function attribute during CodeGen.

This represents the alternate direction proposed by Sanjay in this RFC: http://lists.llvm.org/pipermail/llvm-dev/2017-November/118734.html

The syntax here matches gcc, though gcc treats it as an x86 specific command line argument. gcc only allows values of 128, 256, and 512. I'm not having clang check any values.

This works by 1) emitting an additional generalized type signature

This flag is incompatible with -fsanitize-cfi-cross-dso because it would

clang currently uses .init_array instead of .ctors on Linux if it detects gcc

at all – if there's no old gcc, there's nothing we need to be compatible with.

icecc for example runs clang in a very small chroot, so before this change
clang would use .ctors if run under icecc. And lld currently silently mislinks
inputs with .ctors sections, so before this clang + icecc + lld would produce
broken binaries. (But this seems like a good change independent of that lld
bug.)

Roman Lebedev 809df34efc [Sema] -Wzero-as-null-pointer-constant: don't warn for system macros other than NULL.
Summary:
The warning was initially introduced in D32914 by @thakis,
and the concerns were raised there, and later in rL302247
and PR33771.

I do believe that it makes sense to relax the diagnostic
e.g. in this case, when the expression originates from the
system header, which can not be modified. This prevents
adoption for the diagnostic for codebases which use pthreads
(`PTHREAD_MUTEX_INITIALIZER`), gtest, etc.

As @malcolm.parsons suggests, it *may* make sense to also
not warn for the template types, but it is not obvious to
me how to do that in here.

Though, it still makes sense to complain about `NULL` macro.

While there, add more tests.

Roman Lebedev 7ade0173df [Sema] Document+test the -Wsign-compare change for enums in C code [NFC]
rL316268 / D39122 has fixed PR35009, and now when in C,
these three(?) diagnostics properly use the enum's underlying
datatype.

While it was fixed, the test coverage was clearly insufficient,
because the -Wsign-compare change didn't show up in any of the
tests, until it was reported in the post-commit mail for rL316268.

So add the test for the -Wsign-compare diagnostic for enum
for C code, and while there, document this in the release notes.

The fix itself was obviously correct, so unless we want to silence
this new diagnosed case, i deem this commit to be NFC.

Krasimir Georgiev d6ce937f49 [clang-format] New flag - BraceWrapping.AfterExternBlock
Summary:
Bug: https://bugs.llvm.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34016 - **"extern C part"**

**Problem:**

Due to the lack of "brace wrapping extern" flag, clang format does parse the block after **extern** keyword moving the opening bracket to the header line always!

**Patch description:**

A new style added, new configuration flag - **BraceWrapping.AfterExternBlock** that allows us to decide whether we want a break before brace or not.

Krasimir Georgiev ad47c90767 clang-format: Add preprocessor directive indentation
Summary:
This is an implementation for [bug 17362](https://bugs.llvm.org/attachment.cgi?bugid=17362) which adds support for indenting preprocessor statements inside if/ifdef/endif. This takes previous work from fmauch (https://github.com/fmauch/clang/tree/preprocessor_indent) and makes it into a full feature.
The context of this patch is that I'm a VMware intern, and I implemented this because VMware needs the feature. As such, some decisions were made based on what VMware wants, and I would appreciate suggestions on expanding this if necessary to use-cases other people may want.

This adds a new enum config option, `IndentPPDirectives`. Values are:

* `PPDIS_None` (in config: `None`):
```
    #if FOO
    #if BAR
    #include <foo>
    #endif
    #endif
```
* `PPDIS_AfterHash` (in config: `AfterHash`):
```
    #if FOO
    #  if BAR
    #    include <foo>
    #  endif
    #endif
```
This is meant to work whether spaces or tabs are used for indentation. Preprocessor indentation is independent of indentation for non-preprocessor lines.

Preprocessor indentation also attempts to ignore include guards with the checks:
1. Include guards cover the entire file
2. Include guards don't have `#else`
3. Include guards begin with
```
#ifndef <var>
#define <var>
```

This patch allows `UnwrappedLineParser::PPBranchLevel` to be decremented to -1 (the initial value is -1) so the variable can be used for indent tracking.

Defects:
* This patch does not handle the case where there's code between the `#ifndef` and `#define` but all other conditions hold. This is because when the #define line is parsed, `UnwrappedLineParser::Lines` doesn't hold the previous code line yet, so we can't detect it. This is out of the scope of this patch.

* This patch does not handle cases where legitimate lines may be outside an include guard. Examples are `#pragma once` and `#pragma GCC diagnostic`, or anything else that does not change the meaning of the file if it's included multiple times.

* This does not detect when there is a single non-preprocessor line in front of an include-guard-like structure where other conditions hold because `ScopedLineState` hides the line.

* Preprocessor indentation throws off `TokenAnnotator::setCommentLineLevels` so the indentation of comments immediately before indented preprocessor lines is toggled on each run. Fixing this issue appears to be a major change and too much complexity for this patch.

Alexander Potapenko 5241081532 [sanitizer-coverage] Change cmp instrumentation to distinguish const operands
This implementation of SanitizerCoverage instrumentation inserts different
callbacks depending on constantness of operands:

  1. If both operands are non-const, then a usual
     __sanitizer_cov_trace_cmp[1248] call is inserted.
  2. If exactly one operand is const, then a
     __sanitizer_cov_trace_const_cmp[1248] call is inserted. The first
     argument of the call is always the constant one.
  3. If both operands are const, then no callback is inserted.

This separation comes useful in fuzzing when tasks like "find one operand
of the comparison in input arguments and replace it with the other one"
have to be done. The new instrumentation allows us to not waste time on
searching the constant operands in the input.

OpenCL 2.0 atomic builtin functions have a scope argument which is ideally
represented as synchronization scope argument in LLVM atomic instructions.

Clang supports translating Clang atomic builtin functions to LLVM atomic
instructions. However it currently does not support synchronization scope
of LLVM atomic instructions. Without this, users have to use LLVM assembly
code to implement OpenCL atomic builtin functions.

This patch adds OpenCL 2.0 atomic builtin functions as Clang builtin
functions, which supports generating LLVM atomic instructions with
synchronization scope operand.

Currently only constant memory scope argument is supported. Support of
non-constant memory scope argument will be added later.

Vedant Kumar a0c3671b20 [ubsan] Have -fsanitize=vptr emit a null check if -fsanitize=null isn't available
In r309007, I made -fsanitize=null a hard prerequisite for -fsanitize=vptr. I
did not see the need for the two checks to have separate null checking logic
for the same pointer. I expected the two checks to either always be enabled
together, or to be mutually compatible.

In the mailing list discussion re: r309007 it became clear that that isn't the
case. If a codebase is -fsanitize=vptr clean but not -fsanitize=null clean,
it's useful to have -fsanitize=vptr emit its own null check. That's what this
patch does: with it, -fsanitize=vptr can be used without -fsanitize=null.

Manuel Klimek 696e505278 Unify and simplify the behavior of the hasDeclaration matcher.
Originally, we weren't able to match on Type nodes themselves (only QualType),
so the hasDeclaration matcher was initially written to give what we thought are
reasonable results for QualType matches.

When we chagned the matchers to allow matching on Type nodes, it turned out
that the hasDeclaration matcher was by chance written templated enough to now
allow hasDeclaration to also match on (some) Type nodes.

This patch change the hasDeclaration matcher to:
a) work the same on Type and QualType nodes,
b) be completely explicit about what nodes we can match instead of just allowing
   anything with a getDecl() to match,
c) explicitly control desugaring only one level in very specific instances.
d) adds hasSpecializedTemplate and tagType matchers to allow migrating
  existing use cases that now need more explicit matchers

Note: This patch breaks clang-tools-extra. The corresponding patch there
is approved and will land in a subsequent patch.

Brian Gesiak dc6fa5d1f6 [Driver] Add -fdiagnostics-hotness-threshold
Summary:
Depends on https://reviews.llvm.org/D34867.

Add a Clang frontend option to enable optimization remark hotness
thresholds, which were added to LLVM in https://reviews.llvm.org/D34867.
This prevents diagnostics that do not meet a minimum hotness
threshold from being output. When generating optimization remarks for large
codebases with a ton of cold code paths, this option can be used
to limit the optimization remark output at a reasonable size.
Discussion of this change can be read here:

This is useful when an upper limit on the cache size needs to be

One use case is a machine with a large number of cache directories
(e.g. a buildbot slave hosting a large number of independent build
jobs). By imposing an upper size limit on each cache directory,
users can more easily estimate the server's capacity.

This patch provides a means to specify section-names for global variables,

This feature is only defined to work sensibly for ELF targets.
One can specify section names as:
#pragma clang section bss="myBSS" data="myData" rodata="myRodata" text="myText"
One can "unspecify" a section name with empty string e.g.
#pragma clang section bss="" data="" text="" rodata=""

Richard Smith 040e12662a Support lazy stat'ing of files referenced by module maps.
This patch adds support for a `header` declaration in a module map to specify
certain `stat` information (currently, size and mtime) about that header file.
This has two purposes:

- It removes the need to eagerly `stat` every file referenced by a module map.
  Instead, we track a list of unresolved header files with each size / mtime
  (actually, for simplicity, we track submodules with such headers), and when
  attempting to look up a header file based on a `FileEntry`, we check if there
  are any unresolved header directives with that `FileEntry`'s size / mtime and
  perform deferred `stat`s if so.

- It permits a preprocessed module to be compiled without the original files
  being present on disk. The only reason we used to need those files was to get
  the `stat` information in order to do header -> module lookups when using the
  module. If we're provided with the `stat` information in the preprocessed
  module, we can avoid requiring the files to exist.

Unlike most `header` directives, if a `header` directive with `stat`
information has no corresponding on-disk file the enclosing module is *not*
marked unavailable (so that behavior is consistent regardless of whether we've
resolved a header directive, and so that preprocessed modules don't get marked
unavailable). We could actually do this for all `header` directives: the only
reason we mark the module unavailable if headers are missing is to give a
diagnostic slightly earlier (rather than waiting until we actually try to build
the module / load and validate its .pcm file).

Vedant Kumar a125eb55cb [ubsan] Add a check for pointer overflow UB
Check pointer arithmetic for overflow.

For some more background on this check, see:

  https://wdtz.org/catching-pointer-overflow-bugs.html
  https://reviews.llvm.org/D20322

Patch by Will Dietz and John Regehr!

This version of the patch is different from the original in a few ways:

  - It introduces the EmitCheckedInBoundsGEP utility which inserts
    checks when the pointer overflow check is enabled.

  - It does some constant-folding to reduce instrumentation overhead.

  - It does not check some GEPs in CGExprCXX. I'm not sure that
    inserting checks here, or in CGClass, would catch many bugs.

Possible future directions for this check:

  - Introduce CGF.EmitCheckedStructGEP, to detect overflows when
    accessing structures.

Testing: Apart from the added lit test, I ran check-llvm and check-clang
with a stage2, ubsan-instrumented clang. Will and John have also done
extensive testing on numerous open source projects.
