Zachary Turner 4e82ec9caa Create a HostProcess class.
This is a lightweight wrapper around a pid. It is intended to be
lightweight enough to serve as a replacement anywhere we currently
store a pid. It provides convenience methods and common process
operations.

This patch does not yet make use of HostProcess anywhere.

mechanism provided by LLVM.

Zachary Turner 75172a9567 Revert "Avoid global contstructors and place static variables
inside classes as static local variables and remove the static
ivars. Subclasses should use the accessor functions."

This change moved global statics to function local statics, but
forgot to make the locals static in the function, breaking all
platforms. Furthermore, MSVC doesn't support thread-safe function
local statics, so any use of a function local static on non
primitive types is undefined behavior on MSVC.

Reverting due to the fact that it's broken on all platforms, but
would like to have a discussion about the thread-safety issue
before it goes back in.

Zachary Turner 97a14e60b2 Move some Host logic into HostInfo class.
This patch creates a HostInfo class, a static class used to answer
basic queries about the host platform. As part of this change,
some functionality is moved from Host to HostInfo, and relevant
fixups are performed in the rest of the codebase.

This is part of a larger effort to isolate more code in the Host
layer into platform-specific groups, to make it easier to make
platform specific changes for a particular Host without breaking
other hosts.

FileAction was previously a nested class in ProcessLaunchInfo.
This led to some unfortunate style consequences, such as requiring
the AddPosixSpawnFileAction() funciton to be defined in the Target
layer, instead of the more appropriate Host layer. This patch
makes FileAction its own independent class in the Target layer,
and then moves AddPosixSpawnFileAction() into Host as a result.

This change enables lldb-platform for Linux. In addition, it does the following:

* fixes Host::GetLLDBPath() to work on Linux/*BSD for ePathTypeSupportExecutableDir-relative paths.

* adds more logging and comments around lldb-platform startup and remote lldb-platform usage.

* refactors lldb-platform remote-* support for Darwin and Linux into PlatformPOSIX. This, in theory, is the bulk of what is needed for *BSD to make remote connections to lldb-platform as well (although I haven't tested that yet). FreeBSD can make similar changes to their Platform* as was made here for PlatformLinux to pick up the rest of the bits.

* teaches GDBRemoteCommunication to use lldb-gdbserver for non-Apple hosts.

This value gets set to a max uint32_t value when there is no known limit; otherwise,

Modifies the Process private state thread names to fit within a 16-character limit
when the max thread name length is <= 16. These guarantee that the thread names

Zachary Turner df734cdd39 Fix tests broken by the OptionValidator changes.
The getopt library has a structure called option (lowercase). We
have a structure called Option (uppercase). previously the two
structures had exactly the same definitions, and we were doing a
C-style cast of an Option* to an option*. C-style casts don't
bother to warn you when you cast to unrelated types, but in the
original OptionValidator patch I modified the definition of Option.

This patch fixes the errors by building an array of option
structures and filling it out the correct way before passing it to
the getopt library.

This also fixes one other source of test failures: an uninitialized
read that occurs due to not initializing a field of the
OptionDefinition.

First we will stop at the entry point of the expression before it runs, then we can step over a few times and hit the breakpoint in "puts", then we can continue and finishing stepping and fininsh the expression.

Main features:
- New ObjectFileJIT class that can be easily created for JIT functions
- debug info can now be enabled when parsing expressions
- source for any function that is run throught the JIT is now saved in LLDB process specific temp directory and cleaned up on exit
- "expr -g --" allows you to single step through your expression function with source code

Saleem Abdulrasool eb4592b18d build: fix libxml2 detection via CMake
libxml2's include path was unconditionally set to /usr/include/libxml2. This
would work previously, however, Mavericks removed the /usr/include directory.
Since LLDB already requires clang, which via LLVM's build infrastructure
searches for libxml2, we have a proper include path for libxml2. If
LIBXML2_FOUND is set, do not touch the libxml2 search path. Instead, allow the
clang's definition to propagate throughout the LLVM build. Otherwise, switch to
find_package(LibXml2) as clang does. This will ensure that the correct path is
used for libxml2 irrespective of the platform.

Furthermore, treat libxml2 as a system provided library. It is not part of the
LLVM source base so it is of little value to enable all warnings on its headers.
This unifies the treatment of libxml2 across clang and LLDB.

Saleem Abdulrasool 78c135942d Host: unconstify editline paramters
Although the interface to el_push should be a constant parameter (as it is on
Darwin), certain Linux distributions currently ship a header which does not
provide proper const correctness. This causes compilation failures on Linux.
Strip the constness on the parameter, which whilst incorrect, is mostly
harmless. The parameter will not be changed by the interface and so it is
acceptable to do this. When distributions have updated to a more correct
declaration, it would be nice to revert this change.

Addresses PR18784.

2 - auto completion in python embedded interpreter
3 - multi-line input for "script" and "expression" commands now allow you to edit previous/next lines using up and down arrow keys and this makes multi-line input actually a viable thing to use
4 - it is now possible to use curses to drive LLDB (please try the "gui" command)

This fixes a bug under Linux where spawning a process via
Host::LaunchProcess was disabling all blockable signals on the
launched process. This caused strange behavior when attempting
to kill the lldb-gdbserver process, as the child generally would
not die unless killed with a non-blockable signal (e.g. 'kill -9').

This change moves several functions out of macosx/Host.mm into
common/Host.cpp. In addition, two functions that needed to work
across common/Host.cpp and macosx/Host.mm were moved into the Host.h
header file.

Todd Fiala a9ddb0e14f Added distribution info to ArchSpec and qHostInfo message.
ArchSpec now contains an optional distribution_id, with getters and
setters. Host::GetArchitecture () sets it on non-Apple platforms using
Host::GetDistributionId (). The distribution_id is ignored during
ArchSpec comparisons.

The gdb remote qHostInfo message transmits it, if set, via the
distribution_id={id-value} key/value pair. Updated gdb remote docs to
reflect this change.

As before, GetDistributionId () returns nothing on non-Linux platforms
at this time. On Linux, it is returned only if the lsb_platform
command is installed (in /bin or /usr/bin), and only if the
distributor id key is returned by 'lsb_platform -i'. This id is
lowercased, and whitespace is replaced with underscores.

Todd Fiala f3d61de532 Enable Linux distribution in vendor portion of host triple.
This change does the following:

* enables building lldb-gdbserver on linux_x86-64 platforms.

  Note - it builds but it has several run-time issues where many gdb
  remote protocol features are not properly implemented yet. I'm
  working on these one at a time.

* lldb-gdbserver: does not enable the eLaunchFlagDebug launch flag on
  Linux. Currently the POSIX launch routine will assert if that flag
  is passed in, presumably because that launch mode is not yet
  available. This prevents lldb-gdbserver from asserting the moment
  it launches the debuggee process.

* Adds ConstString& Host::GetDistributionId ()

  This method is defined to return an empty result on all platforms
  except for Linux. On Linux, it makes one attempt to execute
  'lsb_release -i' (both /usr/bin/lsb_release, where it appears
  on ubuntu, and /bin/lsb_release, where it appears on fedora
  if the redhat-lsb package is installed). If lsb_release is not
  found in either of those locations, or if 'lsb_release -i' does
  not return the first line starting with "Distributor ID:\t",
  then the distribution id is empty. The method will lower-case
  the id and replace whitespace with underscores.

* Modify Host::GetArchitecture () so that linux replaces an unknown
  vendor portion with the results of GetDistributionId () if that
  is non-empty. This shows up now in qHostInfo remote packet
  responses and on the lldb host side. Tested with ubuntu and
  fedora (the latter both with the default of not having lsb_release
  installed, and with having lsb_release installed via the redhat-lsb
  package).

  Examples of triples on Linux after this change:

    # x86_64 Unbuntu 12.04 LTS:
    x86_64-ubuntu-linux-gnu

    # x86_64 Fedora 20 Desktop with redhat-lsb package installed
    x86_64-fedora-linux-gnu

    # x86_64 Fedora 20 Desktop without redhat-lsb-core installed
    # (i.e. no /bin/lsb_release available)
    # same as before the change
    x86_64--linux-gnu

  Note I intend to have Android respond with:

    {arch}-android-linux

  when I get to implementing Android lldb-gdbserver support.

Greg Clayton 00fe87b488 Modified local spawning in debugserver processes to use a new --reverse-connect option so that debugserver actually connects back to LLDB instead of LLDB connecting to debugserver.
This gets rid of our hacky "get_random_port()" which would grab a random port and tell debugserver to open that port. Now LLDB creates, binds, listens and accepts a connection by binding to port zero and sending the correctly bound port down as the host:port to connect back to.

Fixed the "ConnectionFileDescriptor" to be able to correctly listen for connections from a specified host, localhost, or any host. Prior to this fix "listen://" only accepted the following format:

listen://<port>

But now it can accept:

listen://<port> // Listen for connection from localhost on port <port>
listen://<host>:<port>  // Listen for connection from <host> and <port>
listen://*:<port> // Listen for connection from any host on port <port>

Greg Clayton fbb7634934 Expose SBPlatform through the public API.
Example code:

remote_platform = lldb.SBPlatform("remote-macosx");
remote_platform.SetWorkingDirectory("/private/tmp")
debugger.SetSelectedPlatform(remote_platform)

connect_options = lldb.SBPlatformConnectOptions("connect://localhost:1111");
err = remote_platform.ConnectRemote(connect_options)
if err.Success():
    print >> result, 'Connected to remote platform:'
    print >> result, 'hostname: %s' % (remote_platform.GetHostname())
    src = lldb.SBFileSpec("/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/SharedFrameworks/LLDB.framework", False)
    dst = lldb.SBFileSpec()
    # copy src to platform working directory since "dst" is empty
    err = remote_platform.Install(src, dst);
    if err.Success():
        print >> result, '%s installed successfully' % (src)
    else:
        print >> result, 'error: failed to install "%s": %s' % (src, err)

Implemented many calls needed in lldb-platform to be able to install a directory that contains symlinks, file and directories.

The remote lldb-platform can now launch GDB servers on the remote system so that remote debugging can be spawned through the remote platform when connected to a remote platform.

The API in SBPlatform is subject to change and will be getting many new functions.

that /bin/sh re-exec's itself to /bin/bash, so it needs one more resume when you

Daniel Malea e0f8f574c7 merge lldb-platform-work branch (and assorted fixes) into trunk
Summary:
    This merge brings in the improved 'platform' command that knows how to
    interface with remote machines; that is, query OS/kernel information, push
    and pull files, run shell commands, etc... and implementation for the new
    communication packets that back that interface, at least on Darwin based
    operating systems via the POSIXPlatform class. Linux support is coming soon.

    Verified the test suite runs cleanly on Linux (x86_64), build OK on Mac OS
    X Mountain Lion.

    Additional improvements (not in the source SVN branch 'lldb-platform-work'):
    - cmake build scripts for lldb-platform
    - cleanup test suite
    - documentation stub for qPlatform_RunCommand
    - use log class instead of printf() directly
    - reverted work-in-progress-looking changes from test/types/TestAbstract.py that work towards running the test suite remotely.
    - add new logging category 'platform'

Sylvestre Ledru 594058394e Following the modification introduced in llvm by commit 185311
The build system is currently miss-identifying GNU/kFreeBSD as FreeBSD.
This kind of simplification is sometimes useful, but in general it's not correct.

As GNU/kFreeBSD is an hybrid system, for kernel-related issues we want to match the
build definitions used for FreeBSD, whereas for userland-related issues we want to
match the definitions used for other systems with Glibc.

The current modification adjusts the build system so that they can be distinguished,
and explicitly adds GNU/kFreeBSD to the build checks in which it belongs.

Fixes bug #16446.
