Yonghong Song 3466e00716 Reland "[Attr] support btf_type_tag attribute"
This is to revert commit f95bd18b5f (Revert "[Attr] support
btf_type_tag attribute") plus a bug fix.

Previous change failed to handle cases like below:
    $ cat reduced.c
    void a(*);
    void a() {}
    $ clang -c reduced.c -O2 -g

In such cases, during clang IR generation, for function a(),
CGCodeGen has numParams = 1 for FunctionType. But for
FunctionTypeLoc we have FuncTypeLoc.NumParams = 0. By using
FunctionType.numParams as the bound to access FuncTypeLoc
params, a random crash is triggered. The bug fix is to
check against FuncTypeLoc.NumParams before accessing
FuncTypeLoc.getParam(Idx).

Yonghong Song 737e4216c5 [Attr] support btf_type_tag attribute
This patch added clang codegen and llvm support
for btf_type_tag support. Currently, btf_type_tag
attribute info is preserved in DebugInfo IR only for
pointer types associated with typedef, global variable
and function declaration. Eventually, such information
is emitted to dwarf.

The following is an example:
  $ cat test.c
  #define __tag __attribute__((btf_type_tag("tag")))
  int __tag *g;
  $ clang -O2 -g -c test.c
  $ llvm-dwarfdump --debug-info test.o
  ...
  0x0000001e:   DW_TAG_variable

                  DW_AT_type      (0x00000033 "int *")
                  DW_AT_external  (true)
                  DW_AT_decl_file ("/home/yhs/test.c")
                  DW_AT_decl_line (2)
                  DW_AT_location  (DW_OP_addr 0x0)

  0x00000033:   DW_TAG_pointer_type
                  DW_AT_type      (0x00000042 "int")

  0x00000038:     DW_TAG_LLVM_annotation
                    DW_AT_name    ("btf_type_tag")
                    DW_AT_const_value     ("tag")

  0x00000041:     NULL

  0x00000042:   DW_TAG_base_type
                  DW_AT_name      ("int")
                  DW_AT_encoding  (DW_ATE_signed)
                  DW_AT_byte_size (0x04)

  0x00000049:   NULL

Basically, a DW_TAG_LLVM_annotation tag will be inserted
under DW_TAG_pointer_type tag if that pointer has a btf_type_tag
associated with it.

Yonghong Song eb0fa8bfa3 [Clang][Attr] Support btf_type_tag attribute
This patch introduced btf_type_tag attribute. The attribute
is a type attribute and intends to address the below
linux use cases.
    typedef int __user *__intp;
    int foo(int __user *arg, ...)
    static int do_execve(struct filename *filename,
        const char __user *const __user *__argv,
        const char __user *const __user *__envp)

Here __user in the kernel defined as
    __attribute__((noderef, address_space(__user)))
for sparse ([1]) type checking mode.

For normal clang compilation, we intend to replace it with
    __attribute__((btf_type_tag("user")))
and record such informaiton in dwarf and BTF so such
information later can be used in kernel for bpf verification
or for other tracing functionalities.

Chuanqi Xu ec117158a3 [Coroutines] [Frontend] Lookup in std namespace first
Now in libcxx and clang, all the coroutine components are defined in
std::experimental namespace.
And now the coroutine TS is merged into C++20. So in the working draft
like N4892, we could find the coroutine components is defined in std
namespace instead of std::experimental namespace.
And the coroutine support in clang seems to be relatively stable. So I
think it may be suitable to move the coroutine component into the
experiment namespace now.

This patch would make clang lookup coroutine_traits in std namespace
first. For the compatibility consideration, clang would lookup in
std::experimental namespace if it can't find definitions in std
namespace. So the existing codes wouldn't be break after update
compiler.

And in case the compiler found std::coroutine_traits and
std::experimental::coroutine_traits at the same time, it would emit an
error for it.

The support for looking up std::experimental::coroutine_traits would be
removed in Clang16.

Volodymyr Sapsai 0a35cc40b8 [clang][objc] Speed up populating the global method pool from modules.
For each selector encountered in the source code, we need to load
selectors from the imported modules and check that we are calling a
selector with compatible types.

At the moment, for each module we are storing methods declared in the
headers belonging to this module and methods from the transitive closure
of imported modules. When a module is imported by a few other modules,
methods from the shared module are duplicated in each importer. As the
result, we can end up with lots of identical methods that we try to add
to the global method pool. Doing this duplicate work is useless and
relatively expensive.

Avoid processing duplicate methods by storing in each module only its
own methods and not storing methods from dependencies. Collect methods
from dependencies by walking the graph of module dependencies.

The issue was discovered and reported by Richard Howell. He has done the
hard work for this fix as he has investigated and provided a detailed
explanation of the performance problem.

Andrew Savonichev a8083d42b1 [X86][clang] Disable long double type for -mno-x87 option
This patch attempts to fix a compiler crash that occurs when long
double type is used with -mno-x87 compiler option.

The option disables x87 target feature, which in turn disables x87
registers, so CG cannot select them for x86_fp80 LLVM IR type. Long
double is lowered as x86_fp80 for some targets, so it leads to a
crash.

The option seems to contradict the SystemV ABI, which requires long
double to be represented as a 80-bit floating point, and it also
requires to use x87 registers.

To avoid that, `long double` type is disabled when -mno-x87 option is
set. In addition to that, `float` and `double` also use x87 registers
for return values on 32-bit x86, so they are disabled as well.

The implementation has to workaround the fact that:

As a consequence, during codegen, we need to walk redecls and eventually rewrite
some call sites, which is totally inelegant.

David Blaikie 8bf1244538 DebugInfo: workaround for context-sensitive use of non-type-template-parameter integer suffixes
There's a nuanced check about when to use suffixes on these integer
non-type-template-parameters, but when rebuilding names for
-gsimple-template-names there isn't enough data in the DWARF to
determine when to use suffixes or not. So turn on suffixes always to
make it easy to match up names in llvm-dwarfdump --verify.

I /think/ if we correctly modelled auto non-type-template parameters
maybe we could put suffixes only on those. But there's also some logic
in Clang that puts the suffixes on overloaded functions - at least
that's what the parameter says (see D77598 and printTemplateArguments
"TemplOverloaded" parameter) - but I think maybe it's for anything that
/can/ be overloaded, not necessarily only the things that are overloaded
(the argument value is hardcoded at the various callsites, doesn't seem
to depend on overload resolution/searching for overloaded functions). So
maybe with "auto" modeled more accurately, and differentiating between
function templates (always using type suffixes there) and class/variable
templates (only using the suffix for "auto" types) we could correctly
use integer type suffixes only in the minimal set of cases.

But that seems all too much fuss, so let's just put integer type
suffixes everywhere always in the debug info of integer non-type
template parameters in template names.

The offset should be in literal length's bounds. This should be distinguished from the states in the Standard C++20 [dcl.init.string] 9.4.2.3. Example:
  const char arr[42] = "123";
  char c = arr[41]; // OK
  const char * const str = "123";
  char c = str[41]; // NOK

Martin Storsjö d758069f5e [clang] [MinGW] Guess the right ix86 arch name spelling as sysroot
For x86, most contempory mingw toolchains use i686 as 32 bit
x86 arch target.

As long as the target triple is set to the right form, this works
fine, either as the compiler's default target, or via e.g.
a triple prefix like i686-w64-mingw32-clang.

However, if the unprefixed toolchain targets x86_64, but the user
tries to switch it to target 32 bit by adding the -m32 option, the
computeTargetTriple function in Clang, together with
Triple::get32BitArchVariant, sets the arch to i386. This causes
the right sysroot to not be found.

When targeting an arch where there are potential spelling ambiguities
with respect to the sysroots (i386 and arm), check if the driver can
find a sysroot with the arch name - if not, try a couple other
candidates.

Félix Cloutier 6a5f743772 format_arg attribute should allow instancetype in NSString definition
- [[format_arg(N)]] tells Clang that a method returns a format string with
  specifiers equivalent to those passed in the string at argument #N. It
  obviously requires the argument and the return type to be strings both.
- `instancetype` is a special return type available in Objective-C class
  definitions that Clang expands to the most-derived statically known type on
  use.
- In Objective-C mode, NSString is allowed in lieu of a C string, both as input
  and output. However, _in the definition of NSString_, Clang rejects format_arg
  on methods that return NSString. This PR addresses this issue by substituting
  `instancetype` with the enclosing definition's type during the validation of
  `format_arg`.

This patch takes advantage of this to share a single builtin for
many different types. We already used type overloads on the IR intrinsic
so the codegen for the builtins that are being merge were already
the same. This extends the type overloading to the builtins.

I had to make a few tweaks to make this work.
-Floating point vector-vector vmerge now uses the vmerge intrinsic
 instead of the vfmerge intrinsic. New isel patterns and tests are
 added to support this.
-The SemaChecking for the immediate of vset_v/vget_v has been removed.
 Determining the valid range is harder now. I've added masking to
 ManualCodegen to ensure valid IR for invalid input.

This reduces the number of builtins from ~25000 to ~1100.

With the old approach we were updating `ObjCInterfaceType.Decl` to the

`ASTDeclReader::VisitObjCInterfaceDecl` keeps the *first* encountered
definition. So with multiple definitions imported there would be a
disagreement between expected definition in `ObjCInterfaceType.Decl` and
actual definition `ObjCInterfaceDecl::getDefinition` which can lead to
incorrect diagnostic.

Fix by not tracking definition in `ObjCInterfaceType` explicitly but by
getting it from redeclaration chain.

David Blaikie aee4925507 Recommit: Compress formatting of array type names (int [4] -> int[4])
Based on post-commit review discussion on
2bd8493847 with Richard Smith.

Other uses of forcing HasEmptyPlaceHolder to false seem OK to me -
they're all around pointer/reference types where the pointer/reference
token will appear at the rightmost side of the left side of the type
name, so they make nested types (eg: the "int" in "int *") behave as
though there is a non-empty placeholder (because the "*" is essentially
the placeholder as far as the "int" is concerned).

This was originally committed in 277623f4d5

Reverted in f9ad1d1c77 due to breakages
outside of clang - lldb seems to have some strange/strong dependence on
"char [N]" versus "char[N]" when printing strings (not due to that name
appearing in DWARF, but probably due to using clang to stringify type
names) that'll need to be addressed, plus a few other odds and ends in
other subprojects (clang-tools-extra, compiler-rt, etc).

Itay Bookstein 08ed216000 [IR] Refactor GlobalIFunc to inherit from GlobalObject, Remove GlobalIndirectSymbol
As discussed in:
* https://reviews.llvm.org/D94166
* https://lists.llvm.org/pipermail/llvm-dev/2020-September/145031.html

The GlobalIndirectSymbol class lost most of its meaning in
https://reviews.llvm.org/D109792, which disambiguated getBaseObject
(now getAliaseeObject) between GlobalIFunc and everything else.
In addition, as long as GlobalIFunc is not a GlobalObject and
getAliaseeObject returns GlobalObjects, a GlobalAlias whose aliasee
is a GlobalIFunc cannot currently be modeled properly. Creating
aliases for GlobalIFuncs does happen in the wild (e.g. glibc). In addition,
calling getAliaseeObject on a GlobalIFunc will currently return nullptr,
which is undesirable because it should return the object itself for
non-aliases.

This patch refactors the GlobalIFunc class to inherit directly from
GlobalObject, and removes GlobalIndirectSymbol (while inlining the
relevant parts into GlobalAlias and GlobalIFunc). This allows for
calling getAliaseeObject() on a GlobalIFunc to return the GlobalIFunc
itself, making getAliaseeObject() more consistent and enabling
alias-to-ifunc to be properly modeled in the IR.

I exercised some judgement in the API clients of GlobalIndirectSymbol:
some were 'monomorphized' for GlobalAlias and GlobalIFunc, and
some remained shared (with the type adapted to become GlobalValue).

Aaron Ballman ab2ca8496d consteval if does not form a discarded statement
When we added support for if consteval, we accidentally formed a discarded
statement evaluation context for the branch-not-taken. However, a discarded
statement is a property of an if constexpr statement, not an if consteval
statement (https://eel.is/c++draft/stmt.if#2.sentence-2). This turned out to
cause issues when deducing the return type from a function with a consteval if
statement -- we wouldn't consider the branch-not-taken when deducing the return
type.

This fixes PR52206.

Note, there is additional work left to be done. We need to track discarded
statement and immediate evaluation contexts separately rather than as being
mutually exclusive.

Jan Svoboda a2d805c020 [clang][modules] Delay creating `IdentifierInfo` for names of explicit modules
When using explicit Clang modules, some declarations might unexpectedly become invisible.

This is caused by the mechanism that loads PCM files passed via `-fmodule-file=<path>` and creates an `IdentifierInfo` for the module name. The `IdentifierInfo` creation takes place when the `ASTReader` is in a weird state, with modules that are loaded but not yet set up properly. This patch delays the creation of `IdentifierInfo` until the `ASTReader` is done with reading the PCM.

Note that the `-fmodule-file=<name>=<path>` form of the argument doesn't suffer from this issue, since it doesn't create `IdentifierInfo` for the module name.

How many place you need to modify when implementing a new extension for RISC-V?

At least 7 places as I know:

- Add new SubtargetFeature at RISCV.td
- -march parser in RISCV.cpp
- RISCVTargetInfo::initFeatureMap@RISCV.cpp for handling feature vector.
- RISCVTargetInfo::getTargetDefines@RISCV.cpp for pre-define marco.
- Arch string parser for ELF attribute in RISCVAsmParser.cpp
- ELF attribute emittion in RISCVAsmParser.cpp, and make sure it's in
  canonical order...
- ELF attribute emittion in RISCVTargetStreamer.cpp, and again, must in
  canonical order...

And now, this patch provide an unified infrastructure for handling (almost)
everything of RISC-V arch string.

After this patch, you only need to update 2 places for implement an extension
for RISC-V:
- Add new SubtargetFeature at RISCV.td, hmmm, it's hard to avoid.
- Add new entry to RISCVSupportedExtension@RISCVISAInfo.cpp or
  SupportedExperimentalExtensions@RISCVISAInfo.cpp .

Most codes are come from existing -march parser, but with few new feature/bug
fixes:
- Accept version for -march, e.g. -march=rv32i2p0.
- Reject version info with `p` but without minor version number like `rv32i2p`.

they're all around pointer/reference types where the pointer/reference

though there is a non-empty placeholder (because the "*" is essentially

is assumed, so a new range constraint `[0, 0]` comes in for `c` and
simplification kicks in. `c + 1` becomes `0 + 1`, but the associated
range is `[0, 0]`, so now we are able to realize the contradiction.

Jan Svoboda 08c8016cfb [clang][modules] Cache loads of modules imported by PCH
During explicit modular build, PCM files are typically specified via the `-fmodule-file=<path>` command-line option. Early during the compilation, Clang uses the `ASTReader` to read their contents and caches the result so that the module isn't loaded implicitly later on. A listener is attached to the `ASTReader` to collect names of the modules read from the PCM files. However, if the PCM has already been loaded previously via PCH:
1. the `ASTReader` doesn't do anything for the second time,
2. the listener is not invoked at all,
3. the module load result is not cached,
4. the compilation fails when attempting to load the module implicitly later on.

This patch solves this problem by attaching the listener to the `ASTReader` for PCH reading as well.

Jan Svoboda 6a1f50b84a [clang][deps] Prune unused header search paths
To reduce the number of explicit builds of a single module, we can try to squash multiple occurrences of the module with different command-lines (and context hashes) by removing benign command-line options. The greatest contributors to benign differences between command-lines are the header search paths.

In this patch, the lookup cache in `HeaderSearch` is used to identify paths that were actually used when implicitly building the module during scanning. This information is serialized into the unhashed control block of the implicitly-built PCM. The dependency scanner then loads this and may use it to prune the header search paths before computing the context hash of the module and generating the command-line.

We could also prune the header search paths when serializing `HeaderSearchOptions` into the PCM. That way, we could do it only once instead of every load of the PCM file by dependency scanner. However, that would result in a PCM file whose contents don't produce the same context hash as the original build, which is probably highly surprising.

There is an alternative approach to storing extra information into the PCM: wire up preprocessor callbacks to capture the used header search paths on-the-fly during preprocessing of modularized headers (similar to what we currently do for the main source file and textual headers). Right now, that's not compatible with the fact that we do an actual implicit build producing PCM files during dependency scanning. The second run of dependency scanner loads the PCM from the first run, skipping the preprocessing altogether, which would result in different results between runs. We can revisit this approach when we stop building implicitly during dependency scanning.

Depends on D102923.

Jan Svoboda 4445135109 [clang][lex] Remark on search path usage
For dependency scanning, it would be useful to collect header search paths (provided on command-line via `-I` and friends) that were actually used during preprocessing. This patch adds that feature to `HeaderSearch` along with a new remark that reports such paths as they get used.

Previous version of this patch tried to use the existing `LookupFileCache` to report used paths via `HitIdx`. That doesn't work for `ComputeUserEntryUsage` (which is intended to be called *after* preprocessing), because it indexes used search paths by the file name. This means the values get overwritten when the code contains `#include_next`.

Note that `HeaderSearch` doesn't use `HeaderSearchOptions::UserEntries` directly. Instead, `InitHeaderSearch` pre-processes them (adds platform-specific paths, removes duplicates, removes paths that don't exist) and creates `DirectoryLookup` instances. This means we need a mechanism for translating between those two. It's not possible to go from `DirectoryLookup` back to the original `HeaderSearch`, so `InitHeaderSearch` now tracks the relationships explicitly.

Depends on D111557.
