Rafael Espindola 8bc2a19ef8 Drop conflicting sh_entsize values.
An output section can include elements from two input sections with
different sh_entsize. When that happens the output section itself
should not have a sh_entsize.

Rui Ueyama aa8523e4b6 Move OutputSectionFactory to LinkerScript.cpp. NFC.
That class is used only by LinkerScript.cpp, so we should move it to
that file. Also, it no longer has to be a "factory" class. It can just
be a non-member function.

George Rimar 343e8227b7 [ELF] - Stop using SectionKey for creating output sections.
Stop using SectionKey for creating output sections.

Initially SectionKey was designed because we merged section with
use of Flags and Alignment fields. Currently LLD merges them by name only,
except the case when -relocatable output is produced. In that case
we still merge sections only with the same flags and alignment.
There is probably no issue at all to stop using Flags and Alignment for -r and
just disable the merging in that case.

After doing that change we can get rid of using SectionKey. That is not only
simplifies the code, but also gives some perfomance boost.

I tried to link chrome and mozilla, results are next:
* chrome link time goes from 1,666750355s to 1,551585364s, that is about 7%.
* mozilla time changes from 3,210261947 to 3,153782940, or about 2%.

Rui Ueyama 6b394caaf1 Rename Commands -> SectionCommands.
"Commands" was ambiguous because in the linker script, everything is
a command. We used to handle only SECTIONS commands, and at the time,
it might make sense to call them the commands, but it is no longer
the case. We handle not only SECTIONS but also MEMORY, PHDRS, VERSION,
etc., and they are all commands.

Rui Ueyama 0e2bfb1e3b Merge addInputSec with OutputSection::addSection.
Previously, when we added an input section to an output section, we
called `OutputSectionFactory::addInputSec`. This isn't a good design
because, a factory class is intended to create a new object and
return it, but in this use case, it will never create a new object.
This patch fixes the design flaw.

Rui Ueyama c54d5b16d5 Do not mutate Script->Opt.Commands from a leaf helper function.
Factory::addInputSec added an output section to Script->Opt.Commands,
but that is too subtle. This patch makes it explicit so that it is easy
to see when a new element is added to Script->Opt.Commands.

addSection function was hard to read because it behaves differently
depending on its arguments but what exactly it does is not clear.
Now it should be better. Still, it is not clear (not what but) why
it does what it does, but I'll take a look at it later.

George Rimar 072a43b501 [ELF] - Do not merge sections from SHT_GROUP when -relocatable
This is PR34506.

Imagine we have 2 sections the same name but different COMDAT groups:

.section        .foo,"axG",@progbits,bar,comdat
.section        .foo,"axG",@progbits,zed,comdat
When linking relocatable we do not merge SHT_GROUP sections. But still would merge
both input sections .foo into single output section .foo.
As a result we will have 2 different SHT_GROUPs containing the same section, what
is wrong.

Patch fixes the issue, preventing merging SHF_GROUP sections with any others.

Rafael Espindola 8c022ca783 Merge OutputSectionCommand and OutputSection.
This is a bit of a hack, but it is *so* convenient.

Now that we create synthetic linker scripts when none is provided, we
always have to handle paired OutputSection and OutputsectionCommand and
keep a mapping from one to the other.

This patch simplifies things by merging them and creating what used to
be OutputSectionCommands really early.

Rui Ueyama 1c837b5fb1 [ICF] Ignore SHF_GROUP flag when comparing two sections.
SHF_GROUP bit doesn't make sense in executables or DSOs, so linkers are
expected to remove that bit from section flags. We did that when we create
output sections.

This patch is to do that earlier than before. Now the flag is dropped when
we instantiate input section objects.

This change improves ICF. Previously, two sections that differ only in
SHF_GROUP flag were not merged, because when the control reached ICF,
the flag was still there. Now the flag is dropped before reaching to ICF,
so the difference is ignored naturally.

This issue was found by pcc.

That did not work in some cases, like testcase shows.

George Rimar 8cde9a7e77 [ELF] - Allow multiple comdats when producing relocatable output.
Previously LLD would fail for case when there are multiple comdats and -r.

That happened because it merged all ".group" (SHT_GROUP) sections into single
output, producing broken result. Such sections may have similar name, alignment and flags
and other properties. We need to produce separate output section for each such input one.

sh_info
This member holds extra information, whose interpretation depends on the section type.
If the sh_flags field for this section header includes the attribute SHF_INFO_LINK, 
then this member represents a section header table index.

SHF_INFO_LINK
The sh_info field of this section header holds a section header table index.

Since sh_info for SHT_REL[A] sections should contain the section header index of the
section to which the relocation applies, this is
consistent with spec to put this flag. Behavior matches both bfd and gold as well.

Rafael Espindola db5e56f7b2 Store a single Parent pointer for InputSectionBase.
Before InputSectionBase had an OutputSection pointer, but that was not
always valid. For example, if it was a merge section one actually had
to look at MergeSec->OutSec.

This was brittle and caused bugs like the one fixed by r304260.

We now have a single Parent pointer that points to an OutputSection
for InputSection, but to a SyntheticSection for merge sections and
.eh_frame. This makes it impossible to accidentally access an invalid
OutSec.

Rafael Espindola b47c6e5cbd Fix a crash.
We would crash if a SHF_LINK_ORDER section pointed to a non
InputSection section. Since those sections are not merged in order,
SHF_LINK_ORDER is pretty meaningless and we can error on that case.

George Rimar 3b189d1643 [ELF] - Do not allow -r to eat comdats.

To fix it I stop removing group section from out when -r is given
and fixing SHT_GROUP content when writing it just like we do some
other fixup, e.g. for Rel[a]. (it needs fix for section indices that
are in group).

Rafael Espindola 55b169bf5d Move writeTo to OutputSectionCommand.
This reduces how many times we have to map from OutputSection to
OutputSectionCommand. It is a required step to moving
clearOutputSections earlier.

In order to always use writeTo in OutputSectionCommand we have to call
fabricateDefaultCommands for -r links and move section compression
after it.

Rui Ueyama 896cbc40ad [ELF] Improve error message for incompatible section types
Previously we were not printing out the type of the incompatible section
which made it difficult to determine what the problem was.

The error message format has been change to the following:

Rafael Espindola 4f013bb3b2 Create an OutputSection for each non-empty OutputSectionCommand.
We were already pretty close, the one exception was when a name was
reused in another SECTIONS directive:

SECTIONS {
  .text : { *(.text) }
  .data : { *(.data) }
}
SECTIONS {
  .data : { *(other) }
}

In this case we would create a single .data and magically output
"other" while looking at the first OutputSectionCommand.

We now create two .data sections. This matches what gold does. If we
really want to create a single one, we should change the parser so that
the above is parsed as if the user had written

SECTIONS {
  .text : { *(.text) }
  .data : { *(.data) *(other)}
}

That is, there should be only one OutputSectionCommand for .data and
it would have two InputSectionDescriptions.

By itself this patch makes the code a bit more complicated, but is an
important step in allowing assignAddresses to operate just on the
linker script.

Rui Ueyama 066c4ab9fe Simplify createHeader and inline it.
createHeader didn't use data members of Elf_Chdr type and write
directly to a given buffer. That is not a good practice because

In compare with D20211 (a year old patch, abandoned), it implementation
uses streaming and fully reimplemented, does not support zlib-gnu for

James Henderson 8dd4c06a77 [ELF] Pad x86 executable sections with 0xcc int3 instructions
Executable sections should not be padded with zero by default. On some
architectures, 0x00 is the start of a valid instruction sequence, so can confuse
disassembly between InputSections (and indeed the start of the next InputSection
in some situations). Further, in the case of misjumps into padding, padding may
start to be executed silently.

On x86, the "0xcc" byte represents the int3 trap instruction. It is a single
byte long so can serve well as padding. This change switches x86 (and x86_64) to
use this value for padding in executable sections, if no linker script directive
overrides it. It also puts the behaviour into place making it easy to change the
behaviour of other targets when desired. I do not know the relevant instruction
sequences for trap instructions on other targets however, so somebody should add
this separately.

Because the old behaviour simply wrote padding in the whole section before
overwriting most of it, this change also modifies the padding algorithm to write
padding only where needed. This in turn has caused a small behaviour change with
regards to what values are written via Fill commands in linker scripts, bringing
it into line with ld.bfd. The fill value is now written starting from the end of
the previous block, which means that it always starts from the first byte of the
fill, whereas the old behaviour meant that the padding sometimes started mid-way
through the fill value. See the test changes for more details.

We had a few Config member functions that returns configuration values.
For example, we had is64() which returns true if the target is 64-bit.
The return values of these functions are constant and never change.

This patch is to compute them only once to make it clear that they'll
never change.

George Rimar 22e3e7d165 [ELF] - Make Bss and BssRelRo sections to be synthetic (#3).
That removes CopyRelSection class completely, making
Bss/BssRelRo to be just regular synthetics.

This is splitted from D30541 and polished.
Difference from D30541 that all logic of SharedSymbol
converting to DefinedRegular was removed for now and
probably will be posted as separate patch.

Petr Hosek 7b79321e88 [ELF] Propely handle .eh_frame in linker scripts
Using .eh_frame input section pattern in linker script currently
causes a crash; this is because .eh_frame input sections require
special handling since they're all combined into a synthetic
section rather than regular output section.

Rafael Espindola 5616adf655 Remove DefinedSynthetic.
With this we have a single section hierarchy. It is a bit less code,
but the main advantage will be in a future patch being able to handle

foo = symbol_in_obj;

in a linker script. Currently that fails since we try to find the
output section of symbol_in_obj.  With this we should be able to just
return an InputSection from the expression.

George Rimar c215a2ac40 [ELF] - Make Bss and BssRelRo sections to be synthetic (#2).
In compare with D30458, this makes Bss/BssRelRo to be pure
synthetic sections.

That removes CopyRelSection class completely, making
Bss/BssRelRo to be just regular synthetics.

SharedSymbols involved in creating copy relocations are
converted to DefinedRegular, what also simplifies things.

George Rimar efc31dd9bb [ELF] - Reset output section size when assigning offsets.
In many places we reset Size to 0 before calling assignOffsets()
manually. Sometimes we don't do that. 
It looks we can just always do that inside.

Previous code had:
template <class ELFT> void OutputSection::assignOffsets() {
  uint64_t Off = Size;

And tests feels fine with Off = 0. 
I think Off = Size make no sence.
