Matthias Braun 6b898beb8e X86: Do not use llc -march in tests.
`llc -march` is problematic because it only switches the target
architecture, but leaves the operating system unchanged. This
occasionally leads to indeterministic tests because the OS from
LLVM_DEFAULT_TARGET_TRIPLE is used.

However we can simply always use `llc -mtriple` instead. This changes
all the tests to do this to avoid people using -march when they copy and
paste parts of tests.

Sjoerd Meijer 15c81b05ea [MBP] do not reorder and move up loop latch block
Do not reorder and move up a loop latch block before a loop header
when optimising for size because this will generate an extra
unconditional branch.

Stephen Lin d24ab20e9b Mass update to CodeGen tests to use CHECK-LABEL for labels corresponding to function definitions for more informative error messages. No functionality change and all updated tests passed locally.

Chandler Carruth 881d0a7966 Add a much more conservative strategy for aligning branch targets.
Previously, MBP essentially aligned every branch target it could. This
bloats code quite a bit, especially non-looping code which has no real
reason to prefer aligned branch targets so heavily.

As Andy said in review, it's still a bit odd to do this without a real
cost model, but this at least has much more plausible heuristics.

Fixes PR13265.

Chandler Carruth 4190b507c5 Flip the new block-placement pass to be on by default.
This is mostly to test the waters. I'd like to get results from FNT
build bots and other bots running on non-x86 platforms.

This feature has been pretty heavily tested over the last few months by
me, and it fixes several of the execution time regressions caused by the
inlining work by preventing inlining decisions from radically impacting
block layout.

I've seen very large improvements in yacr2 and ackermann benchmarks,
along with the expected noise across all of the benchmark suite whenever
code layout changes. I've analyzed all of the regressions and fixed
them, or found them to be impossible to fix. See my email to llvmdev for
more details.

I'd like for this to be in 3.1 as it complements the inliner changes,
but if any failures are showing up or anyone has concerns, it is just
a flag flip and so can be easily turned off.

I'm switching it on tonight to try and get at least one run through
various folks' performance suites in case SPEC or something else has
serious issues with it. I'll watch bots and revert if anything shows up.

Dan Gohman 64b5d0f468 Add support for tail duplication to BranchFolding, and extend
tail merging support to handle more cases.
 - Recognize several cases where tail merging is beneficial even when
the tail size is smaller than the generic threshold.
 - Make use of MachineInstrDesc::isBarrier to help detect
   non-fallthrough blocks.
 - Check for and avoid disrupting fall-through edges in more cases.

Dan Gohman ff97acd8f1 Revert the main portion of r31856. It was causing BranchFolding
to break up CFG diamonds by banishing one of the blocks to the end of
the function, which is bad for code density and branch size.

This does pessimize MultiSource/Benchmarks/Ptrdist/yacr2, the
benchmark cited as the reason for the change, however I've examined
the code and it looks more like a case of gaming a particular
branch than of being generally applicable.

Dan Gohman c0964a571b Re-apply r84295, with fixes to how the loop "top" and "bottom" blocks are
tracked. Instead of trying to manually keep track of these locations
while doing complex modifications, just recompute them when they're needed.
This fixes a bug in which the TopMBB and BotMBB were not correctly updated,
leading to invalid transformations.
