Jim Ingham 80b2da42d2 Don't depend on the "run" alias doing shell expanding.
Instead dial it up explicitly.

This test started failing recently and I'm not sure why.  It also
doesn't make sense to me the replacing "run" with "process launch -X 1 --"
should make any difference - run is an alias for the latter.  But
it does pass with the change, and unless we are testing for the exact
run alias, it's better to ask for what we want explicitly.

Jonas Devlieghere 1a216fb15a [lldb] Don't print script output twice in HandleCommand
When executing a script command in HandleCommand(s) we currently print
its output twice
You can see this issue in action when adding a breakpoint command:

(lldb) b main
Breakpoint 1: where = main.out`main + 13 at main.cpp:2:3, address = 0x0000000100003fad
(lldb) break command add 1 -o "script print(\"Hey!\")"
(lldb) r
Process 76041 launched: '/tmp/main.out' (x86_64)
Hey!
(lldb)  script print("Hey!")
Hey!
Process 76041 stopped

The issue is caused by HandleCommands using a temporary
CommandReturnObject and one of the commands (`script` in this case)
setting an immediate output stream. This causes the result to be printed
twice: once directly to the immediate output stream and once when
printing the result of HandleCommands.

This patch fixes the issue by introducing a new option to suppress
immediate output for temporary CommandReturnObjects.

David Spickett e05b03cf4f [lldb] Set return status to failed when adding a command error
There is a common pattern:
result.AppendError(...);
result.SetStatus(eReturnStatusFailed);

I found that some commands don't actually "fail" but only
print "error: ..." because the second line got missed.

This can cause you to miss a failed command when you're
using the Python interface during testing.
(and produce some confusing script results)

I did not find any place where you would want to add
an error without setting the return status, so just
set eReturnStatusFailed whenever you add an error to
a command result.

This change does not remove any of the now redundant
SetStatus. This should allow us to see if there are any
tests that have commands unexpectedly fail with this change.
(the test suite passes for me but I don't have access to all
the systems we cover so there could be some corner cases)

Some tests that failed on x86 and AArch64 have been modified
to work with the new behaviour.

Daniel Rodríguez Troitiño 5e327785da [lldb] Match test dependencies name to other LLVM projects.
Other LLVM projects use the suffix `-depends` for the test dependencies,
however LLDB uses `-deps` and seems to be the only project under the
LLVM to do so.

In order to make the projects more homogeneous, switch all the
references to `lldb-test-deps` to `lldb-test-depends`.

Additionally, provide a compatibility target with the old name and
depending on the new name, in order to not break anyone workflow.

Jan Kratochvil d131081719 [lldb] 2/2: Fix DW_AT_ranges DW_FORM_sec_offset not using DW_AT_rnglists_base (used by GCC)
DW_AT_ranges can use DW_FORM_sec_offset (instead of DW_FORM_rnglistx).
In such case DW_AT_rnglists_base does not need to be present.
DWARF-5 spec:
        "If the offset_entry_count is zero, then DW_FORM_rnglistx cannot
        be used to access a range list; DW_FORM_sec_offset must be used
        instead. If the offset_entry_count is non-zero, then
        DW_FORM_rnglistx may be used to access a range list;"

This fix is for TestTypeCompletion.py category `dwarf` using GCC with DWARF-5.

The fix just provides GetRnglist() lazy getter for `m_rnglist_table`.
The testcase is easier to review by:
        diff -u lldb/test/Shell/SymbolFile/DWARF/DW_AT_low_pc-addrx.s \
          lldb/test/Shell/SymbolFile/DWARF/DW_AT_range-DW_FORM_sec_offset.s

James Henderson a1e6565855 [lit] Stop using PATH to lookup clang/lld/lldb unless requested
This patch stops lit from looking on the PATH for clang, lld and other
users of use_llvm_tool (currently only the debuginfo-tests) unless the
call explicitly requests to opt into using the PATH. When not opting in,
tests will only look in the build directory.

Adrian Prantl 017d7a9e14 Rename human-readable name for DW_LANG_Mips_Assembler
The Mips in DW_LANG_Mips_Assembler is a vendor name not an
architecture name and in lack of a proper generic DW_LANG_assembler,
some assemblers emit DWARF using this tag. Due to a warning I recently
introduced users will now be greeted with

  This version of LLDB has no plugin for the mipsassem language. Inspection of frame variables will be limited.

By renaming this to just "Assembler" this error message will make more sense.

Michał Górny b6c0edb979 [lldb] [Process/elf-core] Fix reading FPRs from FreeBSD/i386 cores
The FreeBSD coredumps from i386 systems contain only FSAVE-style
NT_FPREGSET.  Since we do not really support reading that kind of data
anymore, just use NT_X86_XSTATE to get FXSAVE-style data when available.

Michał Górny e414ede2cd [lldb] [test/Register] Initial tests for regsets in core dumps
Add initial tests for reading register sets from core dumps.  This
includes a C++ program to write registers and dump core, resulting core
dumps for Linux, FreeBSD and NetBSD, and the tests to verify them.

The tests are split into generic part, verifying user-specified register
values, and coredump-specific tests that verify memory addresses that
differ for every dump.

At this moment, all platforms support GPRs and FPRs up to XMM for amd64
target.  The i386 target does not work on NetBSD at all, and is missing
FPRs entirely on FreeBSD.

Pavel Labath cd64273f5e [lldb/ELF] Fix IDs of synthetic eh_frame symbols
The code used the total number of symbols to create a symbol ID for the
synthetic symbols. This is not correct because the IDs of real symbols
can be higher than their total number, as we do not add all symbols (and
in particular, we never add symbol zero, which is not a real symbol).

This meant we could have symbols with duplicate IDs, which caused
problems if some relocations were referring to the duplicated IDs. This
was the cause of the failure of the test D97786.

This patch fixes the code to use the ID of the highest (last) symbol
instead.

Caroline Tice 3dc24bc31e [LLDB] Re-land: Use path relative to binary for finding .dwo files.
DWARF allows .dwo file paths to be relative rather than absolute. When
they are relative, DWARF uses DW_AT_comp_dir to find the .dwo
file. DW_AT_comp_dir can also be relative, making the entire search
patch for the .dwo file relative. In this case, LLDB currently
searches relative to its current working directory, i.e. the directory
from which the debugger was launched. This is not right, as the
compiler, which generated the relative paths, can have no idea where
the debugger will be launched. The correct thing is to search relative
to the location of the executable binary. That is what this patch
does.

David Spickett f152472af5 [lldb] Require x86 for various NativePDB, Breakpad and Minidump tests
These tests fail if you build without the x86 llvm backend.
Either because they use an x86 triple or try to backtrace which
requires some x86 knowledge to see all frames.

Michał Górny 63d7564105 Reland "[lldb] [Process] Watch for fork/vfork notifications" for FreeBSD
The original commit was reverted because of the problems it introduced
on Linux.  However, FreeBSD should not be affected, so restore that part
and we will address Linux separately.

While at it, remove the dbreg hack as the underlying issue has been
fixed in the FreeBSD kernel and the problem is unlikely to happen
in real life use anyway.

Pavel Labath 121cff78a8 Revert "[lldb] [Process] Watch for fork/vfork notifications" and associated followups
This commit has caused the following tests to be flaky:
TestThreadSpecificBpPlusCondition.py
TestExitDuringExpression.py

The exact cause is not known yet, but since both tests deal with
threads, my guess is it has something to do with the tracking of
creation of new threads (which the commit touches upon).

David Spickett 8a64d80a95 [lldb] Require x86 backend for a bunch of DWARF tests
By moving them into a folder with a local lit config
requiring x86. All these tests use x86 target triples.

There are two tests that require target-x86_64 because
they run program files (instead of just needing the backend).
Those are moved to the x86 folder also but their REQUIRES are
unchanged.

Michał Górny a345419ee0 [lldb] [Process] Watch for fork/vfork notifications
Watch for fork(2)/vfork(2) (also fork/vfork-style clone(2) on Linux)
notifications and explicitly detach the forked child process, and add
initial tests for these cases.  The code covers FreeBSD, Linux
and NetBSD process plugins.  There is no new user-visible functionality
provided -- this change lays foundations over subsequent work on fork
support.

Greg Clayton 2d733923b8 Fix "image lookup --address" Summary results for inline functions.
Inline callstacks were being incorrectly displayed in the results of "image lookup --address". The deepest frame wasn't displaying the line table line entry, it was always showing the inline information's call file and line on the previous frame. This is now fixed and has tests to make sure it doesn't regress.

Raphael Isemann 3c95bdf9fa [lldb] Don't search for system specific strings in assert.test
Commit 6bc1e69de2 changed the search string
to also check for the generated strings that surround the plain assert:

    Assertion `false && "lldb-test assert"' failed
                                         ^^^^^^^^^

This causes the test to fail on setups where the generated assert message
looks different. E.g., on macOS the generated message looks like this:

    Assertion failed: (false && "lldb_assert failed"), function lldb_assert

This reverts the old behaviour of just checking for the actual string we
have inside LLDB.

Jan Kratochvil 6bc1e69de2 [lldb] Fix Error/assert.test regression with symbols
LLDB on Linux built with symbols is showing this error.
Without symbols it still PASSes:
  lldb-test: .../lldb/source/Utility/LLDBAssert.cpp:29: void lldb_private::lldb_assert(bool, const char *, const char *, const char *, unsigned int): Assertion `false && "lldb_assert failed"' failed.

With symbols it FAILs:
  lldb-test: .../lldb/tools/lldb-test/lldb-test.cpp:1086: int opts::assert::lldb_assert(lldb_private::Debugger &): Assertion `false && "lldb-test assert"' failed.

Pavel Labath 10d54e2f8d [lldb] Attempt to fix dwarf5-debug_line-file-index.s
The file contained bogus input - the DIE list was not properly
terminated. This should not cause a crash, but it seems it was crashing
at least on linux arm and x86 windows.

Pavel Labath 8248dd91d7 [lldb] Fix test_exec_root of API tests
lit has grown a feature where it stores the runtimes of all tests.
Normally, these times should be stored in the build directory, but
because our API tests have set test_exec_root to point to the source
tree, it has ended up polluting our checkout and led to the
.lit_test_times.txt being committed to the repository.

Delete this file, and adjust the exec root of API tests. I've also
needed to adjust the root of Shell tests, in order to avoid the two
overlapping.

Kim-Anh Tran 68dafe40a6 [lldb] Use CompileUnit::ResolveSymbolContext in SymbolFileDWARF
SymbolFileDWARF::ResolveSymbolContext is currently unaware that in DWARF5 the primary file is specified at file index 0. As a result it misses to correctly resolve the symbol context for the primary file when DWARF5 debug data is used and the primary file is only specified at index 0.

This change makes use of CompileUnit::ResolveSymbolContext to resolve the symbol context. The ResolveSymbolContext in CompileUnit has been previously already updated to reflect changes in DWARF5
and contains a more readable version. It can resolve more, but will also do a bit more work than
SymbolFileDWARF::ResolveSymbolContext (getting the Module, and going through SymbolFileDWARF::ResolveSymbolContextForAddress), however, it's mostly directed by $resolve_scope
what will be resolved, and ensures that code is easier to maintain if there's only one path.

Jonas Devlieghere e089b5e9e1 [lldb] Call os_log_fault on lldb_assert
Call `os_log_fault` when an lldb assert fails. We piggyback off
`LLVM_SUPPORT_XCODE_SIGNPOSTS`, which also depends on `os_log`, to avoid
having to introduce another CMake check and corresponding define.

This patch also adds a small test using lldb-test that verifies we abort
with a "regular" assertion when asserts are enabled.

Make the API, Shell and Unit tests independent lit test suites. This
allows us to specify different dependencies and skip rebuilding all the
unit test (which is particularly expensive) when running check-lldb-api
or check-lldb-shell.

This does not change the autogenerated targets such as
check-lldb-shell-driver or the top level check-lldb target, which all
continue to work as before.

Apply changes from https://reviews.llvm.org/D91014 to other places where DWARF entries are being processed.

Test case is provided by @jankratochvil.
The test is marked to run only on x64 and exclude Windows and Darwin, because the assembly is not OS-independent.

Med Ismail Bennani b889ef4214 [lldb/Core] Change large function threshold variable into a setting.
This patch replaces the static large function threshold variable with a
global debugger setting (`stop-disassembly-max-size`).

The default threshold is now set to 32KB (instead of 8KB) and can be modified.

Raphael Isemann 6201017d54 [lldb] Prevent double new lines behind errors/warning/messages from LLDB commands
The current API for printing errors/warnings/messages from LLDB commands
sometimes adds newlines behind the messages for the caller. However, this
happens unconditionally so when the caller already specified a trailing newline
in the error message (or is trying to print a generated error message that ends
in a newline), LLDB ends up printing both the automatically added newline and
the one that was in the error message string. This leads to all the randomly
appearing new lines in error such as:

```
(lldb) command a
error: 'command alias' requires at least two arguments
(lldb) apropos a b
error: 'apropos' must be called with exactly one argument.

(lldb) why is there an empty line behind the second error?
```

This code adds a check that only appends the new line if the passed message
doesn't already contain a trailing new line.

Also removes the AppendRawWarning which had only one caller and doesn't serve
any purpose now.

Jorge Gorbe Moya 979ca1c05f Defer the decision whether to use the CU or TU index until after reading the unit header.
In DWARF v4 compile units go in .debug_info and type units go in
.debug_types. However, in v5 both kinds of units are in .debug_info.
Therefore we can't decide whether to use the CU or TU index just by
looking at which section we're reading from. We have to wait until we
have read the unit type from the header.

Jonas Devlieghere d6e80578fc [lldb] Improve error message for modules with dots or dashes
LLDB does not like to import Python files with dashes or dots in their
name. While the former are technically allowed, it is discouraged. Dots
are allowed for subpackages but not in module names. This patch improves
the user experience by printing a useful error.

Before this patch:

  error: module importing failed: SyntaxError('invalid syntax',
  ('<string>', 1, 11, 'import foo-bar\n'))

After this patch:

  error: module importing failed: Python discourages dashes in module
  names: foo-bar

Peter Collingbourne c314f5ede8 ObjectFileELF: Test whether reloc_header is non-null instead of asserting.
It is possible for the GetSectionHeaderByIndex lookup to fail because
the previous FindSectionContainingFileAddress lookup found a segment
instead of a section. This is possible if the binary does not have
a PLT (which means that lld will in some circumstances set DT_JMPREL
to 0, which is typically an address that is part of the ELF headers
and not in a section) and may also be possible if the section headers
have been stripped. To handle this possibility, replace the assert
with an if.

Georgii Rymar 2a33b092f5 [LLDB][test] - Fix test after yaml2obj change.
D95354 started to set the sh_link field for SHT_SYMTAB sections.
Previously it was set for symbol tables basing on their names (e.g. ".symtab").

This test now crashes see:

I updated it to restore the old behavior.

Pedro Tammela 532e4203c5 [lldb/Lua] add support for Lua function breakpoint
Adds support for running a Lua function when a breakpoint is hit.

Example:
   breakpoint command add -s lua -F abc

The above runs the Lua function 'abc' passing 2 arguments. 'frame', 'bp_loc' and 'extra_args'.

A third parameter 'extra_args' is only present when there is structured data
declared in the command line.

Example:
   breakpoint command add -s lua -F abc -k foo -v bar

Paul Robinson c161775dec [FastISel] Flush local value map on every instruction
Local values are constants or addresses that can't be folded into
the instruction that uses them. FastISel materializes these in a
"local value" area that always dominates the current insertion
point, to try to avoid materializing these values more than once
(per block).

https://reviews.llvm.org/D43093 added code to sink these local
value instructions to their first use, which has two beneficial
effects. One, it is likely to avoid some unnecessary spills and
reloads; two, it allows us to attach the debug location of the
user to the local value instruction. The latter effect can
improve the debugging experience for debuggers with a "set next
statement" feature, such as the Visual Studio debugger and PS4
debugger, because instructions to set up constants for a given
statement will be associated with the appropriate source line.

There are also some constants (primarily addresses) that could be
produced by no-op casts or GEP instructions; the main difference
from "local value" instructions is that these are values from
separate IR instructions, and therefore could have multiple users
across multiple basic blocks. D43093 avoided sinking these, even
though they were emitted to the same "local value" area as the
other instructions. The patch comment for D43093 states:

  Local values may also be used by no-op casts, which adds the
  register to the RegFixups table. Without reversing the RegFixups
  map direction, we don't have enough information to sink these
  instructions.

This patch undoes most of D43093, and instead flushes the local
value map after(*) every IR instruction, using that instruction's
debug location. This avoids sometimes incorrect locations used
previously, and emits instructions in a more natural order.

In addition, constants materialized due to PHI instructions are
not assigned a debug location immediately; instead, when the
local value map is flushed, if the first local value instruction
has no debug location, it is given the same location as the
first non-local-value-map instruction.  This prevents PHIs
from introducing unattributed instructions, which would either
be implicitly attributed to the location for the preceding IR
instruction, or given line 0 if they are at the beginning of
a machine basic block.  Neither of those consequences is good
for debugging.

This does mean materialized values are not re-used across IR
instruction boundaries; however, only about 5% of those values
were reused in an experimental self-build of clang.

(*) Actually, just prior to the next instruction. It seems like
it would be cleaner the other way, but I was having trouble
getting that to work.

This reapplies commits cf1c774d and dc35368c, and adds the
modification to PHI handling, which should avoid problems
with debugging under gdb.

Luís Marques 15f5971150 [LLDB][RISCV] Add RISC-V ArchSpec and rv32/rv64 variant detection
Adds the RISC-V ArchSpec bits contributed by @simoncook as part of D62732,
plus logic to distinguish between riscv32 and riscv64 based on ELF class.

The patch follows the implementation approach previously used for MIPS.
It defines RISC-V architecture subtypes and inspects the ELF header,
namely the ELF class, to detect the right subtype.

gcc already produces debug info with this form
-freorder-block-and-partition
clang produces this sort of thing with -fbasic-block-sections and with a
coming-soon tweak to use ranges in DWARFv5 where they can allow greater
reuse of debug_addr than the low/high_pc forms.

This fixes the case of breaking on a function name, but leaves broken
printing a variable - a follow-up commit will add that and improve the
test case to match.

Michał Górny b9bfe8a753 [lldb] [debugserver] Add stN aliases for stmmN for compatibility
Add stN aliases for the FPU (stmmN) registers on MacOSX.  This should
improve compatibility between MacOSX and other platforms, and partially
fix x86*-fp-write tests without having to duplicate them.  Note that

Pedro Tammela d853bd7a4e [lldb/Lua] add support for multiline scripted breakpoints
1 - Partial Statements

The interpreter loop runs every line it receives, so partial
Lua statements are not being handled properly. This is a problem for
multiline breakpoint scripts since the interpreter loop, for this
particular case, is just an abstraction to a partially parsed function
body declaration.

This patch addresses this issue and as a side effect improves the
general Lua interpreter loop as well. It's now possible to write partial
statements in the 'script' command.

Example:
   (lldb) script
   >>>   do
   ..>   local a = 123
   ..>   print(a)
   ..>   end
   123

The technique implemented is the same as the one employed by Lua's own REPL implementation.
Partial statements always errors out with the '<eof>' tag in the error
message.

2 - CheckSyntax in Lua.h

In order to support (1), we need an API for just checking the syntax of string buffers.

3 - Multiline scripted breakpoints

Finally, with all the base features implemented this feature is
straightforward. The interpreter loop behaves exactly the same, the
difference is that it will aggregate all Lua statements into the body of
the breakpoint function. An explicit 'quit' statement is needed to exit the
interpreter loop.

Example:
   (lldb) breakpoint command add -s lua
   Enter your Lua command(s). Type 'quit' to end.
   The commands are compiled as the body of the following Lua function
   function (frame, bp_loc, ...) end
   ..> print(456)
   ..> a = 123
   ..> quit

Jorge Gorbe Moya a39b19821b Make DWARFUnit use the dwo_id from the DWARF5 CU header.
In split DWARF v5 files, the DWO id is no longer in the DW_AT_GNU_dwo_id
attribute. It's in the CU header instead. This change makes lldb look in
both places.

Explicitly consider the libraries reported on the initial rendezvous
breakpoint hit added.  This is necessary on FreeBSD since the dynamic
loader issues only a single 'consistent' state rendezvous breakpoint hit
for all the libraries present in DT_NEEDED.  It is also helpful on Linux
where it ensures that ld-linux is considered loaded as well
as the shared system libraries reported afterwards.

Reenable memory maps on FreeBSD since this fixed the issue triggered
by them.

Raphael Isemann 208e3f5d9b [lldb] Fix that symbols.clang-modules-cache-path is never initialized
LLDB is supposed to ask the Clang Driver what the default module cache path is
and then use that value as the default for the
`symbols.clang-modules-cache-path` setting. However, we use the property type
`String` to change `symbols.clang-modules-cache-path` even though the type of
that setting is `FileSpec`, so the setter will simply do nothing and return
`false`. We also don't check the return value of the setter, so this whole code
ends up not doing anything at all.

This changes the setter to use the correct property type and adds an assert that
we actually successfully set the default path. Also adds a test that checks that
the default value for this setting is never unset/empty path as this would
effectively disable the import-std-module feature from working by default.

Pedro Tammela 280ae10774 [LLDB] fix error message for one-line breakpoint scripts
LLDB is ignoring compilation errors for one-line breakpoint scripts.
This patch fixes the issues and now the error message of the
ScriptInterpreter is shown to the user.

I had to remove a new-line character for the Lua interpreter since it
was duplicated.
