This patch gets rid of the C-string parameter in the RawCommandObject::DoExecute function,
making the code simpler and less memory unsafe.
There seems to be a assumption in some command objects that this parameter could be a nullptr,
but from what I can see the rest of the API doesn't actually allow this (and other command
objects and related code pieces dereference this parameter without any checks).
Especially CommandObjectRegexCommand has error handling code for a nullptr that is now gone.

Summary:
A subset of the LLDB commands follows this command line interface style:
<command name> [arguments] -- <string suffix>
The parsing code for this interface has been so far been duplicated into the different
command objects which makes it hard to maintain and reuse elsewhere.
This patches improves the situation by adding a OptionsWithRaw class that centralizes
the parsing logic and allows easier testing. The different commands now just call this class to
extract the arguments and the raw suffix from the provided user input.

Summary:
This patch refactors the internal completion API. It now takes (as far as possible) a single
CompletionRequest object instead o half a dozen in/out/in-out parameters. The CompletionRequest
contains a common superset of the different parameters as far as it makes sense. This includes
the raw command line string and raw cursor position, which should make the `expr` command
possible to implement (at least without hacks that reconstruct the command line from the args).
This patch is not intended to change the observable behavior of lldb in any way. It's also as
minimal as possible and doesn't attempt to fix all the problems the API has.
Some Q&A:
Q: Why is this not fixing all the problems in the completion API?
A: Because is a blocker for the expr command completion which I want to get in ASAP. This is the
smallest patch that unblocks the expr completion patch and which allows trivial refactoring in the future.
The patch also doesn't really change the internal information flow in the API, so that hopefully
saves us from ever having to revert and resubmit this humongous patch.
Q: Can we merge all the copy-pasted code in the completion methods
(like computing the current incomplete arg) into CompletionRequest class?
A: Yes, but it's out of scope for this patch.
Q: Why the `word_complete = request.GetWordComplete(); ... ` pattern?
A: I don't want to add a getter that returns a reference to the internal integer. So we have
to use a temporary variable and the Getter/Setter instead. We don't throw exceptions
from what I can tell, so the behavior doesn't change.
Q: Why are we not owning the list of matches?
A: Because that's how the previous API works. But that should be fixed too (in another patch).
Q: Can we make the constructor simpler and compute some of the values from the plain command?
A: I think this works, but I rather want to have this in a follow up commit. Especially when making nested
request it's a bit awkward that the parsed arguments behave as both input/output (as we should in theory
propagate the changes on the nested request back to the parent request if we don't want to change the
behavior too much).
Q: Can't we pass one const request object and then just return another result object instead of mixing
them together in one in/out parameter?
A: It's hard to get keep the same behavior with that pattern, but I think we can also get a nice API with just
a single request object. If we make all input parameters read-only, we have a clear separation between what
is actually an input and what an output parameter (and hopefully we get rid of the in-out parameters).
Q: Can we throw out the 'match' variables that are not implemented according to the comment?
A: We currently just forward them as in the old code to the different methods, even though I think
they are really not used. We can easily remove and readd them once every single completion method just
takes a CompletionRequest, but for now I prefer NFC behavior from the perspective of the API user.

Summary:
The data structure is optimized for the case where the UUID size is <=
20 bytes (standard length emitted by the GNU linkers), but larger sizes
are also possible.
I've modified the string conversion function to support the new sizes as
well. For standard UUIDs it maintains the traditional formatting
(4-2-2-2-6). If a UUID is shorter, we just cut this sequence short, and
for longer UUIDs it will just repeat the last 6-byte block as long as
necessary.
I've also modified ObjectFileELF to take advantage of the new UUIDs and
avoid manually padding the UUID to 16 bytes. While there, I also made
sure the computed UUID does not depend on host endianness.

Summary:
During the previous attempt to generalize the UUID class, it was
suggested that we represent invalid UUIDs as length zero (previously, we
used an all-zero UUID for that). This meant that some valid build-ids
could not be represented (it's possible however unlikely that a checksum of
some file would be zero) and complicated adding support for variable
length build-ids (should a 16-byte empty UUID compare equal to a 20-byte
empty UUID?).
This patch resolves these issues by introducing a canonical
representation for an invalid UUID. The slight complication here is that
some clients (MachO) actually use the all-zero notation to mean "no UUID
has been set". To keep this use case working (while making it very
explicit about which construction semantices are wanted), replaced the
UUID constructors and the SetBytes functions with named factory methods.
- "fromData" creates a UUID from the given data, and it treats all bytes
equally.
- "fromOptionalData" first checks the data contents - if all bytes are
zero, it treats this as an invalid/empty UUID.

Instead of a separate GetBytes + GetByteSize methods I introduce a
single GetBytes method returning an ArrayRef.
This is NFC cleanup now, but it should make handling arbitrarily-sized
UUIDs cleaner, should we choose to go that way. I also took the
opportunity to add some unit tests for this class.

Summary:
Instead of a function taking an enum value determining which path to
return, we now have a suite of functions, each returning a single path
kind. This makes it easy to move the python-path function into a
specific plugin in a follow-up commit.
All the users of GetLLDBPath were converted to call specific functions
instead. Most of them were hard-coding the enum value anyway, so this
conversion was simple. The only exception was SBHostOS, which I've
changed to use a switch on the incoming enum value.

SetFile has an optional style argument which defaulted to the native
style. This patch makes that argument mandatory so clients of the
FileSpec class are forced to think about the correct syntax.
At the same time this introduces a (protected) convenience method to
update the file from within the FileSpec class that keeps the current
style.
These two changes together prevent a potential pitfall where the style
might be forgotten, leading to the path being updated and the style
unintentionally being changed to the host style.

With the recent changes in FileSpec to use LLVM's path style, it is
possible to delegate a bunch of common path operations to LLVM's path
helpers. This means we only have to maintain a single implementation and
at the same time can benefit from the efforts made by the rest of the
LLVM community.
This is part one of a set of patches. There was no obvious way to split
this so I just worked from top to bottom.

Summary:
This patch adds a modulemap which allows compiling the lldb headers into C++ modules
(for example in builds with LLVM_ENABLE_MODULES=On).
Even though most of the affected code has been cleaned up to work with the more strict
C++ module semantics, there are still some workarounds left in the current modulemap
(the most obvious one is the big `lldb` wrapper module).
It also moves the Obj-C++ files in lldb to their own subdirectories. This was necessary
because we need to filter out the modules flags for this code.
Note: With the latest clang and libstdc++ it seems necessary to have a STL C++ module
to get a working LLVM_ENABLE_MODULES build for lldb. Otherwise clang will falsely
detect ODR violations in the textually included STL code inside the lldb modules.

There was no way to find out what's wrong if SBProcess SBTarget::LoadCore(const char *core_file) failed.
Additionally, the implementation was unconditionally setting sb_process, so it wasn't even possible to check if the return SBProcess is valid.
This change adds a new overload which surfaces the errors and also returns a valid SBProcess only if the core load succeeds:

This patch adds the skeleton for implementing the DWARF v5 name index
class. All of the methods are stubbed out and will be implemented in
subsequent patches. The interesting part of the patch is the addition of
a "ignore-file-indexes" setting to the dwarf plugin which enables a

debugging aid). I have also added a test that verifies that file indexes
are used by default.

Summary:
Occasionally, when launching a process in lldb (especially on windows, but not limited to), lldb will hang before the process is launched and it will never recover. This happens because the timing of the processing of the state changes can be slightly different. The state changes that are issued are:
1) SetPublicState(eStateLaunching)
2) SetPrivateState(eStateLaunching)
3) SetPublicState(eStateStopped)
4) SetPrivateState(eStateStopped)
What we expect to see is:
public state: launching -> launching -> stopped
private state: launching -> stopped
What we see is:
public state: launching -> stopped -> launching
private state: launching -> stopped
The second launching change to the public state is issued when WaitForProcessStopPrivate calls HandlePrivateEvent on the event which was created when the private state was set to launching. HandlePrivateEvent has logic to determine whether to broadcase the event and a launching event is *always* broadcast. At the same time, when the stopped event is processed by WaitForProcessStopPrivate next, the function exists and that event is never broadcast, so the public state remains as launching.
HandlePrivateEvent does two things: determine whether there's a next action as well as determine whether to broadcast the event that was processed. There's only ever a next action set if we are trying to attach to a process, but WaitForProcessStopPrivate is only ever called when we are launching a process or connecting remotely, so the first part of HandlePrivateEvent (handling the next action) is irrelevant for WaitForProcessStopPrivate. As far as broadcasting the event is concerned, since we are handling state changes that already occurred to the public state (and are now duplicated in the private state), I believe the broadcast step is unnecessary also (and in fact, it causes the hang).
This change removes the call to HandlePrivateEvent from inside WaitForProcessStopPrivate.

When reading DBGSourcePathRemapping from a dSYM, we remove the last two
path components to make the source lookup more general. However, when
dealing with a relative path that has less than 2 components, we ended
up with an invalid (empty) FileSpec.
This patch changes the behavior of removeLastPathComponent to remove the
last path component, if possible. It does this by checking whether a
parent path exists, and if so using that as the new path. We rely
entirely on LLVM's path implementation to do the heavy lifting.
We now also return a boolean which indicates whether the operator was
successful or not.

The only reason this was here was so that Module could have a
function called CreateJITModule which created things in a special
order. Instead of making this specific to creating JIT modules,
I converted this into a template function that can create a module
for any type of object file plugin and just forwards arguments
through. Since the template is not instantiated in Core, the linker
(and header file) dependency moves to the point where it is
instantiated, which only happens in Expression. Conceptually, this
location also makes more sense for a dependency on ObjectFileJIT.
After all, we JIT expressions so it's no surprise that Expression
needs to make use of ObjectFileJIT.

We've seen some cases on macOS where you go to instruction single
step (over a breakpoint), and single step returns but the instruction
hasn't been executed (and the pc hasn't moved.) The ThreadPlanStepOverBreakpoint
used to handle this case by accident, but the patches to handle two adjacent
breakpoints broke that accident.
This patch fixes the logic of ExplainsStop to explicitly handle the case where
the pc didn't move. It also adds a WillPop that re-enables the breakpoint we
were stepping over. We never want an unexpected path through the plan to
fool us into not doing that.
I have no idea how to make this bug happen. It is very inconsistent when it
occurs IRL. We really need a full MockProcess Plugin before we can start to write
tests for this sort of system hiccup.

PathMappingList was broken for relative and empty paths after normalization changes in FileSpec. There were also no tests for PathMappingList so I added those.
Changes include:
Change PathMappingList::ReverseRemapPath() to take FileSpec objects instead of ConstString. The only client of this was doing work to convert to and from ConstString objects for no reason.
Normalize all paths prefix and replacements that are added to the PathMappingList vector so they match the paths that have been already normalized in the debug info
Unify code in the two forms of PathMappingList::RemapPath() so only one contains the actual functionality. Prior to this, there were two versions of this code.
Use FileSpec::AppendPathComponent() and remove a long standing TODO so paths are correctly appended to each other.
Added tests for absolute, relative and empty paths.

The Process class was only being referenced because of the last-ditch
effort in the process launchers to set a process death callback in case
one isn't set already.
Although launching a process for debugging is the most important kind of
"launch" we are doing, it is by far not the only one, so assuming this
particular callback is the one to be used is not a good idea (besides
breaking layering). Instead of assuming a particular exit callback, I
change the launcher code to require the callback to be set by the user (and fix
up the two call sites which did not set the callback already).

different names, so this is mostly just a search&replace exercise. One
concrete benefit of this is that we can remove the function for

Allow DWARFUnit subclasses to hand out the data that should be used when decoding data for a DIE. The information might be in .debug_info or could be in .debug_types. There is a new virtual function on DWARFUnit that each subclass must override:
virtual const lldb_private::DWARFDataExtractor &DWARFUnit::GetData() const;
This allows DWARFCompileUnit and eventually DWARFTypeUnit to hand out different data to be used when decoding the DIE information.
Add a new pure virtual function to get the size of the DWARF unit header:

Summary:
The comments on this class were out of date with the implementation, and
the implementation itself was inconsistent with our usage of the Timeout
class (I started converting everything to use this class back in D27136,
but I missed this one). I avoid duplicating the waiting logic by
introducing a templated WaitFor function, and make other functions
delegate to that. This function can be also used as a replacement for
the unused WaitForBitToBeSet functions I removed, if it turns out to be
necessary.
As this changes the meaning of a "zero" timeout, I tracked down all the
callers of these functions and updated them accordingly. Propagating the
changes to all the callers of RunShellCommand was a bit too much for
this patch, so I stopped there and will continue that in a follow-up
patch.
I also add some basic unittests for the functions I modified.

Summary:
lldb-test already had the ability to dump all symbol information in a
module. This is interesting, but it can be too verbose, and it also does
not use the same APIs that lldb uses to query symbol information. The
last part is interesting to me now, because I am about to add DWARF v5
debug_names support, which needs to implement these APIs.
This patch adds a set of arguments to lldb-test, which modify it's
behavior from dumping all symbols to dumping only the requested
information:
- --find={function,namespace,type,variable} - search for the given
kind of objects.
- --name - the name to search for.
- --regex - whether to treat the "name" as a regular expression. This is
not available for all lookup types (we do not have the required APIs
for namespaces and types).
- --context - specifies the context, which can be used to restrict the
search. This argument takes a variable name (which must be defined and
be unique), and we then use the context that this variable is defined
in as the search context.
- --function-flags={auto,full,base,method,selector} - a set of flags to
further restrict the search for function symbols.
Together, these flags and their combinations cover the main SymbolFile
entry points which I will need to modify for the accelerator table
support, and so I plan to do most of the regression testing this way.
(I've also found this a useful tool for exploration of what the given
APIs are supposed to do.)
I add a couple of tests to demonstrate the usage of the usage of the
various options, and also an xfailed test which demonstrates a bug I
found while playing with this. The only requirement for these tests is
the presence of lld -- the should run on any platform which is able to
build lldb.
These tests use c++ code as input, but this isn't a requirement. It is also
possible to use IR, assembly or json to create the test module.

This change adds support for two types of Minidump CodeView records:

The Args class is used in plenty of places besides the command

class has no external dependencies, it can be moved down to the Utility
module.

Interpreter, so I remove the Interpreter module from Host's dependency

Many IDEs set breakpoints using absolute paths and this causes problems when the full path of the source file path doesn't match what is in the debug info. This can be due to different build systems and do or do not resolve symlinks. This patch allows relative breakpoint to be set correctly without needing to do any target.source-map tricks. If IDEs want to, they can send down relative paths like:

./src/main.c
src/main.c
foo/bar/src/main.c
I used the breakpoint resolver to match on the file basename and then we weed out anything whose relative paths don't match. This will be a huge improvement for IDEs as they can specify as much of a relative path as desired to uniquely identify a source file in the current project.

After removing it, I got a couple of compile errors because we were
missing some symbols (SIGKILL and such), as their definitions were not
transitively included anymore. I fix this by including csignal from
PosixApi.h, as it's windows version provides a stub definitions of these
symbols. This should make the result of #including PosixApi.h more
consistent across platforms (although in the long run, we should just
get rid of this header).

Remove Scalar::Cast.
It was noted on the list that this method is unused. So, this patch

direct operations on the register context. In fact, the
Save/RestoreAllRegisters actually appear to be wrong (inverted). Thanks
to Tatyana for pointing this out.
These functions are not very useful now that we can guarantee that each

When importing C++ methods into clang AST nodes from the DWARF symbol
table, preserve the DW_AT_linkage_name and use it as the linker
("asm") name for the symbol.
Concretely, this enables `expression` to call into names that use the
GNU `abi_tag` extension, and enables lldb to call into code using
std::string or std::list from recent versions of libstdc++. See
https://bugs.llvm.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35310 . It also seems broadly
more robust than relying on the DWARF->clang->codegen pipeline to
roundtrip properly, but I'm not immediately aware of any other cases
in which it makes a difference.

ELF physical addresses only for loading objects into the target (and the
rest of the module load address logic still uses virtual addresses).

When writing an object file over gdb-remote, use the vFlashErase, vFlashWrite, and vFlashDone commands if the write address is in a flash memory region. A bare metal target may have this kind of setup.
- Update ObjectFileELF to set load addresses using physical addresses. A typical case may be a data section with a physical address in ROM and a virtual address in RAM, which should be loaded to the ROM address.
- Add support for querying the target's qXfer:memory-map, which contains information about flash memory regions, leveraging MemoryRegionInfo data structures with minor modifications
- Update ProcessGDBRemote to use vFlash commands in DoWriteMemory when the target address is in a flash region

Summary:
The args class is used in plenty of places (a lot of them in the lower lldb
layers) for representing a list of arguments, and most of these places don't
care about option parsing. Moving the option parsing out of the class removes
the largest external dependency (there are a couple more, but these are in
static functions), and brings us closer to being able to move it to the
Utility module).
The new home for these functions is the Options class, which was already used
as an argument to the parse calls, so this just inverts the dependency between
the two.
The functions are themselves are mainly just copied -- the biggest functional
change I've made to them is to avoid modifying the input Args argument (getopt
likes to permute the argument vector), as it was weird to have another class
reorder the entries in Args class. So now the functions don't modify the input
arguments, and (for those where it makes sense) return a new Args vector
instead. I've also made the addition of a "fake arg0" (required for getopt
compatibility) an implementation detail rather than a part of interface.
While doing that I noticed that ParseForCompletion function was recording the
option indexes in the shuffled vector, but then the consumer was looking up the
entries in the unshuffled one. This manifested itself as us not being able to
complete "watchpoint set variable foo --" (because getopt would move "foo" to
the end). Surprisingly all other completions (e.g. "watchpoint set variable foo
--w") were not affected by this. However, I couldn't find a comprehensive test
for command argument completion, so I consolidated the existing tests and added
a bunch of new ones.

Also including the debugserver bridgeos support, another arm
environment that runs Darwin akin to ios. These codepaths are
activated when running in a bridgeos environment which we're not
set up to test today.

that still need to be merged up.
Tested on a darwin system with avx512 hardware and without.

It turns out that setting the clang module cache after LLDB has a
Target can be too late. In particular, the Swift language plugin needs
to know the setting without having access to a Target. This patch
moves the setting into the *LLDB* module cache, where it is a global
setting that is available before any Target is created and more
importantly, is shared between all Targets.

Removing the template arguments and most of the mutating methods from
CleanUp makes it easier to understand and reuse.
In its present state, CleanUp would be too cumbersome to adapt to cases
where multiple objects need to be released. Take for example this change

The llvm function is equivalent to this one. Where possible I tried to
replace const char* with llvm::StringRef to avoid extra strlen
computations. In most places, I was able to track the c string back to
the ConstString it was created from.
I also create a test that verifies we are able to lookup names with
unicode characters, as a bug in the llvm compiler (it accidentally used
a different hash function) meant this was not working until recently.
This also removes the unused ExportTable class.

This adds a SBDebugger::GetBuildConfiguration static function, which
returns a SBStructuredData describing the the build parameters of
liblldb. Right now, it just contains one entry: whether we were built

Summary:
The ObjectFile class was used to determine the architecture of a running
process by inspecting it's main executable. There were two issues with
this:
- it's in the wrong layer
- the call can be very expensive (it can end up computing the crc of the
whole file).
Since the process is running on the host, ideally we would be able to
just query the data straight from the OS like darwin does, but there
doesn't seem to be a reasonable way to do that. So, this fixes the
layering issue by using the llvm object library to inspect the file.
Since we know the process is already running on the host, we just need
to peek at a few bytes of the elf header to determine whether it's 32-
or 64-bit (which should make this faster as well).
Pretty much the same logic was implemented in
NativeProcessProtocol::ResolveProcessArchitecture, so I delete this
logic and replace calls with GetProcessInfo.

Refactor in r322653 broke the logging test on windows because MSVC uses
a fully qualified name as the value of __FUNCTION__, which is not what
we were expecting. I'm changing the code to use the more portable
__func__, which behaves the same as on clang/gcc.
The standard still says that the value of __func__ is implementation
defined, so if we run into problems with this test again we may just
need to drop it.

RemoveInvalidLocations was clearing out the m_locations in the
breakpoint by hand, and it wasn't also clearing the locations from
the address->location map, which confused us when we went to update
breakpoint locations.
I also made Breakpoint::ModulesChanged check the Location's Section
to make sure it hadn't been deleted. This shouldn't strictly be necessary,
but if the DynamicLoaderPlugin doesn't do it's job right (I'm looking at
you new Darwin DynamicLoader...) then it can end up leaving stale locations
on rerun. It doesn't hurt to clean them up here as a backstop.

Summary:
There was some confusion in the code about how to represent process
environment. Most of the code (ab)used the Args class for this purpose,
but some of it used a more basic StringList class instead. In either
case, the fact that the underlying abstraction did not provide primitive
operations for the typical environment operations meant that even a
simple operation like checking for an environment variable value was
several lines of code.
This patch adds a separate Environment class, which is essentialy a
llvm::StringMap<std::string> in disguise. To standard StringMap
functionality, it adds a couple of new functions, which are specific to
the environment use case:
- (most important) envp conversion for passing into execve() and likes.
Instead of trying to maintain a constantly up-to-date envp view, it
provides a function which creates a envp view on demand, with the
expectation that this will be called as the very last thing before
handing the value to the system function.
- insert(StringRef KeyEqValue) - splits KeyEqValue into (key, value)
pair and inserts it into the environment map.
- compose(value_type KeyValue) - takes a map entry and converts in back
into "KEY=VALUE" representation.
With this interface most of the environment-manipulating code becomes
one-liners. The only tricky part was maintaining compatibility in
SBLaunchInfo, which expects that the environment entries are accessible
by index and that the returned const char* is backed by the launch info
object (random access into maps is hard and the map stores the entry in
a deconstructed form, so we cannot just return a .c_str() value). To
solve this, I have the SBLaunchInfo convert the environment into the
"envp" form, and use it to answer the environment queries. Extra code is
added to make sure the envp version is always in sync.
(This also improves the layering situation as Args was in the Interpreter module
whereas Environment is in Utility.)

Summary:
We sometimes need to write to the object file we've mapped into memory,
generally to apply relocations to debug info sections. We've had that
ability before, but with the introduction of DataBufferLLVM, we have
lost it, as the underlying llvm class (MemoryBuffer) only supports
read-only mappings.
This switches DataBufferLLVM to use the new llvm::WritableMemoryBuffer
class as a back-end, as this one guarantees to return a writable buffer.
This removes the need for the "Private" flag to the DataBufferLLVM
creation functions, as it was really used to mean "writable". The LLVM
function also does not have the NullTerminate flag, so I've modified our
clients to not require this feature and removed that flag as well.

These two functions were calling each other, while handling different
branches of the if(IsInMemory()). This had a reason at some point in the
past, but right now it's just confusing.
I resolve this by removing the MemoryMapSectionData function and

anything mmap-related in this function anyway, as the decision whether
to mmap is handled at a higher level.
This is a preparatory step to make ObjectFileELF be able to decompress

Host::GetEnvironment returns a StringList, but the interface for
launching a process takes Args. The fact that we use two classes for
representing an environment is not ideal, but for now we should at least
have an easy way to convert between the two.

llvm::APSInt(0) asserts because it creates an int with bit-width 0 and
not (as I thought) a value 0.
Theoretically it should be sufficient to change this to APSInt(1), as
the intention there was that the value of the first argument should be
ignored if the type is invalid, but that would look dodgy.
Instead, I use llvm::Optional to denote an invalid value and use a
special struct instead of a std::pair, to reduce typing and increase
clarity.

The rationale here is that ArchSpec is used throughout the codebase,
including in places which should not depend on the rest of the code in
the Core module.
This commit touches many files, but most of it is just renaming of
#include lines. In a couple of cases, I removed the #include ArchSpec
line altogether, as the file was not using it. In one or two places,
this necessitated adding other #includes like lldb-private-defines.h.

Summary:
In D39387, I was quick to jump to conclusion that ArchSpec has no
external dependencies. It turns there still was one call to
HostInfo::GetArchitecture left -- for implementing the "systemArch32"
architecture and friends.
Since GetAugmentedArchSpec is the place we handle these "incomplete"
triples that don't specify os or vendor and "systemArch" looks very much
like an incomplete triple, I move its handling there.
After this ArchSpec *really* does not have external dependencies, and
I'll move it to the Utility module as a follow-up.

Summary:
Despite it's name, GetTemplateArgument was only really working for Type
template arguments. This adds the ability to retrieve integral arguments
as well (which I've needed for the std::bitset data formatter).
I've done this by splitting the function into three pieces. The idea is
that one first calls GetTemplateArgumentKind (first function) to
determine the what kind of a parameter this is. Based on that, one can
then use specialized functions to retrieve the correct value. Currently,
I only implement two of these: GetTypeTemplateArgument and
GetIntegralTemplateArgument.

ArchSpec::SetTriple was taking a Platform as an argument, and used it to
fill in missing pieces of the specified triple. I invert the dependency
by moving this code to other classes. For this purpose, I've created
three new functions.
- HostInfo::GetAugmentedArchSpec: fills in the triple using the host
platform (this used to be implemented by passing a null platform
pointer). By putting this code in the Host module, we can provide a
way to anyone who does not have a platform instance (lldb-server) an
easy way to get Host data.
- Platform::GetAugmentedArchSpec: if you have a platform instance, you
can call this to let it fill in the triple.
- static Platform::GetAugmentedArchSpec: implements the "if platform ==
0 then use_host() else use_platform()" part.

Versions of android before kitkat implemented pselect non-atomically,
which caused flakyness, as we were relying on it atomically setting the
signal mask to implement waiting for signals.
This patch implements a direct call to the the pselect kernel syscall,
which does not suffer from this problem. The code itself is not very
pretty, but fortunately the uglyness is contained in the
android version of the MainLoop::RunImpl::Poll function.

callback to this place. The motivation for this is to remove complex

would never get unlocked. This meant the child got stuck trying to

of std::thread (which does not) for launching TaskPool threads.
The fix is to use pthread_atfork to disable logging in the forked child.

The pthread_atfork trick breaks on android, because
pthread_rwlock_unlock detects that it is not the same thread which
locked the lock. This means that the subsequent lock attempt will still
deadlock (only this time it happens deterministically instead of at
random). Reverting to find a better solution.

The NativeThread class is useless without the containing process (and in
some places it is already assuming the process is always around). This
makes it clear that the NativeProcessProtocol is the object owning the
threads, and makes the destruction order deterministic (first threads,
then process). The NativeProcess is the only thing holding a thread
unique_ptr, and methods that used to hand out thread shared pointers now
return raw pointers or references.

* Prevent dumping of characters in DumpDataExtractor() with
item_byte_size bigger than 8 bytes. This case is not supported by the
code and results in a crash because the code calls
DataExtractor::GetMaxU64Bitfield() -> GetMaxU64() that asserts for
byte size > 8 bytes.
* Teach DataExtractor::GetMaxU64(), GetMaxU32(), GetMaxS64() and
GetMaxU64_unchecked() how to handle byte sizes that are not a multiple
of 2. This allows DumpDataExtractor() to dump characters and booleans
with item_byte_size in the interval of [1, 8] bytes. Values that are
not a multiple of 2 would previously result in a crash because they
were not handled by GetMaxU64().

FreeBSD kernel modules are actually relocatable (.o) ELF files and this
previously caused some issues for LLDB. This change addresses these when
using lldb to symbolicate FreeBSD kernel backtraces.
The major problems:
- Relocations were not being applied to the DWARF debug info despite
there being code to do this. Several issues prevented it from working:
- Relocations are computed at the same time as the symbol table, but
in the case of split debug files, symbol table parsing always
redirects to the primary object file, meaning that relocations would
never be applied in the debug file.
- There's actually no guarantee that the symbol table has been parsed
yet when trying to parse debug information.
- When actually applying relocations, it will segfault because the
object files are not mapped with MAP_PRIVATE and PROT_WRITE.
- LLDB returned invalid results when performing ordinary address-to-
symbol resolution. It turned out that the addresses specified in the
section headers were all 0, so LLDB believed all the sections had
overlapping "file addresses" and would sometimes return a symbol from
the wrong section.

This setting can be enabled like this at the target level:

This causes several new behaviors in the Clang expression parser:
- It completely disables use of ClangASTImporter. None are created
at all, and all users of it are now conditionalized on its
presence.
- It instead constructs a per-expression ExternalASTMerger, which
exists inside Clang and contains much of the type completion
logic that hitherto lived in ExternalASTSource,
ClangExpressionDeclMap, and ClangASTImporter.
- The expression parser uses this Merger as a backend for copying
and completing types.
- It also constructs a persistent ExternalASTMerger which is
connected to the Target's persistent AST context.
This is a major chunk of LLDB functionality moved into Clang. It
can be tested in two ways:
1. For an individual debug session, enable the setting before
running a target.
2. For the testsuite, change the option to be default-true. This
is done in Target.cpp's g_experimental_properties. The
testsuite is not yet clean with this, so I have not committed
that switch.

When introduced, breakpoint names were just tags that you could
apply to breakpoints that would allow you to refer to a breakpoint
when you couldn't capture the ID, or to refer to a collection of
breakpoints.
This change makes the names independent holders of breakpoint options
that you can then apply to breakpoints when you add the name to the
breakpoint. It adds the "breakpoint name configure" command to set
up or reconfigure breakpoint names. There is also full support for
then in the SB API, including a new SBBreakpointName class.
The connection between the name and the breakpoints
sharing the name remains live, so if you reconfigure the name, all the
breakpoint options all change as well. This allows a quick way
to share complex breakpoint behavior among a bunch of breakpoints, and
a convenient way to iterate on the set.
You can also create a name from a breakpoint, allowing a quick way
to copy options from one breakpoint to another.
I also added the ability to make hidden and delete/disable protected
names. When applied to a breakpoint, you will only be able to list,
delete or disable that breakpoint if you refer to it explicitly by ID.
This feature will allow GUI's that need to use breakpoints for their
own purposes to keep their breakpoints from getting accidentally
disabled or deleted.

The DWP (DWARF package) format is used to pack multiple dwo files
generated by split-dwarf into a single ELF file to make distributing
them easier. It is part of the DWARFv5 spec and can be generated by
dwp or llvm-dwp from a set of dwo files.
Caviats:
* Only the new version of the dwp format is supported (v2 in GNU
numbering schema and v5 in the DWARF spec). The old version (v1) is
already deprecated but binutils 2.24 still generates that one.

You can get a breakpoint to auto-continue by adding "continue"
as a command, but that has the disadvantage that if you hit two
breakpoints simultaneously, the continue will force the process
to continue, and maybe even forstalling the commands on the other.
The auto-continue flag means the breakpoints can negotiate about
whether to stop.
Writing tests, I wanted to supply some commands when I made the
breakpoints, so I also added that ability.

When an option was set at on a location, I was just copying the whole option set
to the location, and letting it shadow the breakpoint options. That was wrong since
it meant changes to unrelated options on the breakpoint would no longer take on this
location. I added a mask of set options and use that for option propagation.
I also added a "location" property to breakpoints, and added SBBreakpointLocation.{G,S}etCommandLineCommands
since I wanted to use them to write some more test cases.

Summary:
The usage of shared_from_this forces us to separate construction and
initialization phases, because shared_from_this() is not available in
the constructor (or destructor). The shared semantics are not necessary,
as we always have a clear owner of the native process class
(GDBRemoteCommunicationServerLLDB object). Even if we need shared
semantics in the future (which I think we should strongly avoid),
reverting this will not be necessary -- the owners can still easily
store the native process object in a shared pointer if they really want
to -- this just prevents the knowledge of that from leaking into the
class implementation.
After this a NativeThread object will hold a reference to the parent
process (instead of a weak_ptr) -- having a process instance always
available allows us to simplify some logic in this class (some of it was
already simplified because we were asserting that the process is
available, but this makes it obvious).

Summary:
This replaces the static functions used for creating
NativeProcessProtocol instances with a factory pattern, and modernizes
the interface of the new class in the process -- I use llvm::Expected
instead of the Status+value combo. I also move some of the common code
(like the Delegate registration into the base class). The new
arrangement has multiple benefits:
- it removes the NativeProcess*** dependency from Process/gdb-remote
(which for example means that liblldb no longer pulls in this code).
- it enables unit testing of the GDBRemoteCommunicationServerLLGS class
(by providing a mock Native Process).
- serves as another example on how to use the llvm::Expected class (I
couldn't get rid of the Initialize-type functions completely here
because of the use of shared_from_this, but that's the next thing on
my list here)
Tests still pass on Linux and I've made sure NetBSD compiles after this.

Instead of passing it in as a one-off argument to those
methods, this patch puts it in the base class and the methods
can retrieve if it needed.
Note that ABI's are sometimes built without a Process

The main difference here is that the decision whether to use eh_frame or
debug_frame is done on a per-function basis instead of per-object file.
This is necessary because one module can contain both sections (for
example, the start files added by the linker will typically pull in
eh_frame), but we want to be able to access both, for maximum
information.
I also add unit test for parsing various CFI formats (eh_frame,
debug_frame v3 and debug_frame v4).

Summary:
These interfaces have no dependencies, so it makes sense for them to be
in the lowest level modules, to make sure that other parts of the
codebase can use them without introducing loops.
The only exception here is the Connection::CreateDefaultConnection
method, which I've moved to Host, as it instantiates concrete
implementations, and that's where the implementations live.

Use c++11 thread_local variables instead. As far as I am aware, they are

Summary:
A number of places were trying to decode the result of wait(). Add a simple
utility function that does that and a struct that encapsulates the
decoded result. Then also provide a pretty-printer for that class.
