to reflect the new license.
We understand that people may be surprised that we're moving the header
entirely to discuss the new license. We checked this carefully with the
Foundation's lawyer and we believe this is the correct approach.
Essentially, all code in the project is now made available by the LLVM
project under our new license, so you will see that the license headers
include that license only. Some of our contributors have contributed
code under our old license, and accordingly, we have retained a copy of
our old license notice in the top-level files in each project and
repository.

Summary:
The lowering of PHI nodes used to detect if all inputs originated
from IMPLICIT_DEF's. If so the PHI node was replaced by an
IMPLICIT_DEF. Now we also consider undef uses when checking the
inputs. So if all inputs are implicitly defined or undef we
lower the PHI to an IMPLICIT_DEF. This makes
PHIElimination::LowerPHINode more consistent as it checks
both implicit and undef properties at later stages.

Summary:
When PR16508 was solved (in rL185363) a regression test was
added as test/CodeGen/PowerPC/2013-07-01-PHIElimBug.ll.
I discovered that the test case no longer reproduced the
scenario from PR16508. This problem could have been amended
by adding an extra RUN line with "-O1" (or possibly "-O0"),
but instead I added a mir-reproducer
test/CodeGen/PowerPC/2013-07-01-PHIElimBug.mir
to get a reproducer that is less sensitive to changes in
earlier passes (including O-level).
While being at it I also corrected a code comment in
PHIElimination::EliminatePHINodes that has been incorrect
since the related bugfix from rL185363.

The DEBUG() macro is very generic so it might clash with other projects.
The renaming was done as follows:
- git grep -l 'DEBUG' | xargs sed -i 's/\bDEBUG\s\?(/LLVM_DEBUG(/g'
- git diff -U0 master | ../clang/tools/clang-format/clang-format-diff.py -i -p1 -style LLVM
- Manual change to APInt
- Manually chage DOCS as regex doesn't match it.
In the transition period the DEBUG() macro is still present and aliased
to the LLVM_DEBUG() one.

Because we create a new kind of debug instruction, DBG_LABEL, we need to
check all passes which use isDebugValue() to check MachineInstr is debug
instruction or not. When expelling debug instructions, we should expel
both DBG_VALUE and DBG_LABEL. So, I create a new function,
isDebugInstr(), in MachineInstr to check whether the MachineInstr is
debug instruction or not.
This patch has no new test case. I have run regression test and there is
no difference in regression test.

All these headers already depend on CodeGen headers so moving them into
CodeGen fixes the layering (since CodeGen depends on Target, not the
other way around).
llvm-svn: 318490
This header includes CodeGen headers, and is not, itself, included by
any Target headers, so move it into CodeGen to match the layering of its
implementation.

I want to compute the SSA property of .mir files automatically in
upcoming patches. The problem with this is that some inputs will be
reported as static single assignment with some passes claiming not to
support SSA form. In reality though those passes do not support PHI
instructions => Track the presence of PHI instructions separate from the
SSA property.

Change all the methods in LiveVariables that expect non-null
MachineInstr* to take MachineInstr& and update the call sites. This
clarifies the API, and designs away a class of iterator to pointer
implicit conversions.
llvm-svn: 274319
This requirement was a huge hack to keep LiveVariables alive because it
was optionally used by TwoAddressInstructionPass and PHIElimination.
However we have AnalysisUsage::addUsedIfAvailable() which we can use in
those passes.
This re-applies r260806 with LiveVariables manually added to PowerPC to
hopefully not break the stage 2 bots this time.

MachineBasicBlock::SplitCriticalEdges will crash if a nullptr would have
been passed for the Pass argument. Do not allow that by turning this
argument into a reference.
The alternative would have been to make the Pass a truly optional

like this would not be aware the livness information, dominator tree and
such would silently be broken.

Take MachineInstr by reference instead of by pointer in SlotIndexes and
the SlotIndex wrappers in LiveIntervals. The MachineInstrs here are
never null, so this cleans up the API a bit. It also incidentally
removes a few implicit conversions from MachineInstrBundleIterator to
MachineInstr* (see PR26753).
At a couple of call sites it was convenient to convert to a range-based
for loop over MachineBasicBlock::instr_begin/instr_end, so I added
MachineBasicBlock::instrs.

This prevents the behavior observed in llvm.org/PR22369. I am not sure
whether I am reading the code correctly, but the early exit based on
isLiveOutPastPHIs() seems to make the wrong assumption that
RegisterCoalescer won't be able to coalesce those copies later.
This change hides the new behavior behind -no-phi-elim-live-out-early-exit
as it currently breaks four tests:
* Assertion in:
CodeGen/Hexagon/hwloop-cleanup.ll
* Worse code in:
CodeGen/X86/coalescer-commute4.ll
CodeGen/X86/phys_subreg_coalesce-2.ll
CodeGen/X86/zlib-longest-match.ll
The root cause here seems to be that the heuristic that determines
the visitation order in RegisterCoalescer gets less lucky.

llvm-svn: 192392
When new virtual registers are created during splitting/spilling, defer
creation of the live interval until we need to use the live interval.
Along with the recent commits to notify LiveRangeEdit when new virtual
registers are created, this makes it possible for functions like
TargetInstrInfo::loadRegFromStackSlot() and
TargetInstrInfo::storeRegToStackSlot() to create multiple virtual
registers as part of the process of generating loads/stores for
different register classes, and then have the live intervals for those
new registers computed when they are needed.

When phis get lowered, destination copies are inserted using an iterator that is
determined once for all phis in the block, which BuildMI interprets as a request
to insert an instruction directly before the iterator. In the case of a cyclic
phi, source copies may also be inserted directly before this iterator, which can
cause source copies to be inserted before destination copies. The fix is to keep
an iterator to the last phi and then advance it while lowering each phi in order
to insert destination copies directly after the phis.
