Daniel Sanders 8008de5551 [mips][mips16] MIPS16 is not a CPU/Architecture but is an ASE.
Summary:
The -mcpu=mips16 option caused the Integrated Assembler to crash because
it couldn't figure out the architecture revision number to write to the
.MIPS.abiflags section. This CPU definition has been removed because, like
microMIPS, MIPS16 is an ASE to a base architecture.

David Blaikie a79ac14fa6 [opaque pointer type] Add textual IR support for explicit type parameter to load instruction
Essentially the same as the GEP change in r230786.

A similar migration script can be used to update test cases, though a few more
test case improvements/changes were required this time around: (r229269-r229278)

import fileinput
import sys
import re

pat = re.compile(r"((?:=|:|^)\s*load (?:atomic )?(?:volatile )?(.*?))(| addrspace\(\d+\) *)\*($| *(?:%|@|null|undef|blockaddress|getelementptr|addrspacecast|bitcast|inttoptr|\[\[[a-zA-Z]|\{\{).*$)")

for line in sys.stdin:
  sys.stdout.write(re.sub(pat, r"\1, \2\3*\4", line))

Eric Christopher a9353d1798 Add the first backend support for on demand subtarget creation
based on the Function. This is currently used to implement
mips16 support in the mips backend via the existing module
pass resetting the subtarget.

Things to note:

a) This involved running resetTargetOptions before creating a
new subtarget so that code generation options like soft-float
could be recognized when creating the new subtarget. This is
to deal with initialization code in isel lowering that only
paid attention to the initial value.

b) Many of the existing testcases weren't using the soft-float
feature correctly. I've corrected these based on the check
values assuming that was the desired behavior.

c) The mips port now pays attention to the target-cpu and
target-features strings when generating code for a particular
function. I've removed these from one function where the
requested cpu and features didn't match the check lines in
the testcase.

Simon Atanasyan 1093afe27a [Mips] Adjust float ABI settings in case of MIPS16 mode.
Hard float for mips16 means essentially to compile as soft float but to
use a runtime library for soft float that is written with native mips32
floating point instructions (those runtime routines run in mips32 hard
float mode).

The patch reviewed by Reed Kotler.

Reed Kotler d8f3362557 Add an option which permits the user to specify using a bitmask, that various
functions be compiled as mips32, without having to add attributes. This
is useful in certain situations where you don't want to have to edit the
function attributes in the source. For now it's only an option used for
the compiler developers when debugging the mips16 port.

Reed Kotler 83f879ddb2 Fix some issues with Mips16 floating when certain intrinsics are present.
This is actually an LLVM bug in the way it generates signatures for these
when soft float is enabled. For example, floor ends up having the signature
of int64(int64). The signature part is not the same as where the actual
parameter types are recorded, and those ARE of course int64(int64) when
soft float is enabled. (Yes, Mips16 hard float uses soft float but with
different runtime rounes but then has to interoperate with Mips32 using
normal floating point). This logic will eventually be moved to the
Mips16HardFloat pass so it's not worth sorting out these issues in LLVM
since nobody but Mips16 cares about these signatures, as far as I know,
and even I won't eventually either.
