Alexey Samsonov 1444bb9fc8 SanitizerBlacklist: blacklist functions by their source location.
This commit changes the way we blacklist functions in ASan, TSan,
MSan and UBSan. We used to treat function as "blacklisted"
and turned off instrumentation in it in two cases:

1) Function is explicitly blacklisted by its mangled name.
This part is not changed.

2) Function is located in llvm::Module, whose identifier is
contained in the list of blacklisted sources. This is completely
wrong, as llvm::Module may not correspond to the actual source
file function is defined in. Also, function can be defined in
a header, in which case user had to blacklist the .cpp file
this header was #include'd into, not the header itself.
Such functions could cause other problems - for instance, if the
header was included in multiple source files, compiled
separately and linked into a single executable, we could end up
with both instrumented and non-instrumented version of the same
function participating in the same link.

After this change we will make blacklisting decision based on
the SourceLocation of a function definition. If a function is
not explicitly defined in the source file, (for example, the
function is compiler-generated and responsible for
initialization/destruction of a global variable), then it will
be blacklisted if the corresponding global variable is defined
in blacklisted source file, and will be instrumented otherwise.

After this commit, the active users of blacklist files may have
to revisit them. This is a backwards-incompatible change, but
I don't think it's possible or makes sense to support the
old incorrect behavior.

I plan to make similar change for blacklisting GlobalVariables
(which is ASan-specific).

Richard Smith 9c04bce1f1 Re-commit r217995 and follow-up patches (r217997, r218011, r218053). These were
reverted in r218058 because they triggered a rejects-valid bug in MSVC.

Original commit message from r217995:

Instantiate exception specifications when instantiating function types (other
than the type of a function declaration). We previously didn't instantiate
these at all! This also covers the pathological case where the only mention of
a parameter pack is within the exception specification; this gives us a second
way (other than alias templates) to reach the horrible state where a type
contains an unexpanded pack, but its canonical type does not.

Saleem Abdulrasool 374b5aa170 Sema: handle additional case of qualified types
A second instance of attributed types escaped the previous change, identified
thanks to Richard Smith! When deducing the void case, we would also assume that
the type would not be attributed. Furthermore, properly handle multiple
attributes being applied to a single TypeLoc.

Properly handle this case and future-proof a bit by ignoring parenthesis
further. The test cases do use the additional parenthesis to ensure that this
case remains properly handled.

Kostya Serebryany 293dc9be6e Insert poisoned paddings between fields in C++ classes so that AddressSanitizer can find intra-object-overflow bugs
Summary:
The general approach is to add extra paddings after every field
in AST/RecordLayoutBuilder.cpp, then add code to CTORs/DTORs that poisons the paddings
(CodeGen/CGClass.cpp).

Everything is done under the flag -fsanitize-address-field-padding.
The blacklist file (-fsanitize-blacklist) allows to avoid the transformation
for given classes or source files.

Hans Wennborg 899ded9cdf MS Compat: mark globals emitted in read-only sections const
They cannot be written to, so marking them const makes sense and may improve
optimisation.

As a side-effect, SectionInfos has to be moved from Sema to ASTContext.

It also fixes this problem, that occurs when compiling ATL:

  warning LNK4254: section 'ATL' (C0000040) merged into '.rdata' (40000040) with different attributes

The ATL headers are putting variables in a special section that's marked
read-only. However, Clang currently can't model that read-onlyness in the IR.
But, by making the variables const, the section does become read-only, and
the linker warning is avoided.

David Blaikie 0f62c8d8f8 PR21246: DebugInfo: Emit the appropriate type (cv qualifiers, reference-ness, etc) for non-type template parameters
Plumb through the full QualType of the TemplateArgument::Declaration, as
it's insufficient to only know whether the type is a reference or
pointer (that was necessary for mangling, but insufficient for debug
info). This shouldn't increase the size of TemplateArgument as
TemplateArgument::Integer is still longer by another 32 bits.

Several bits of code were testing that the reference-ness of the
parameters matched, but this seemed to be insufficient (various other
features of the type could've mismatched and wouldn't've been caught)
and unnecessary, at least insofar as removing those tests didn't cause
anything to fail.

(Richard - perchaps you can hypothesize why any of these checks might
need to test reference-ness of the parameters (& explain why
reference-ness is part of the mangling - I would've figured that for the
reference-ness to be different, a prior template argument would have to
be different). I'd be happy to add them in/beef them up and add test
cases if there's a reason for them)

Saleem Abdulrasool bbdd6c13de Sema: handle AttributedTypeLocs in C++14 auto deduction
When performing a type deduction from the return type, the FunctionDecl may be
attributed with a calling convention. In such a case, the retrieved type
location may be an AttributedTypeLoc. Performing a castAs<FunctionProtoTypeLoc>

Ensure that we correctly handle the attributed type location by looking through

When lazily constructing static member variable declarations (when

Tim Northover 147cd2f6e5 ARM: remove ARM/Thumb distinction for preferred alignment.
Thumb1 has legitimate reasons for preferring 32-bit alignment of types
i1/i8/i16, since the 16-bit encoding of "add rD, sp, #imm" requires #imm to be
a multiple of 4. However, this is a trade-off betweem code size and RAM usage;
the DataLayout string is not the best place to represent it even if desired.

So this patch removes the extra Thumb requirements, hopefully making ARM and

Saleem Abdulrasool 3b43447619 CodeGen: correct block mangling in ObjC
Mangling for blocks defined within blocks in an ObjectiveC context were also

Saleem Abdulrasool 64ab4de443 CodeGen: correct mangling for blocks
This addresses a regression introduced with SVN r219393. A block may be
contained within another block. In such a scenario, we would end up within a
BlockDecl, which is not a NamedDecl (as the names are synthesised). The cast to
a NamedDecl of the DeclContext would then assert as the types are unrelated.

Restore the mangling behaviour to that prior to SVN r219393. If the current
block is contained within a BlockDecl, walk up to the parent DeclContext,
recursively, until we have a non-BlockDecl. This is expected to be a NamedDecl.
Add in a couple of asserts to ensure that the assumption that we only encounter
a block within a NamedDecl or a BlockDecl.

David Blaikie 8e6c36eb80 DebugInfo: Don't leak location information from one function into the prologue of the next function.
CodeGenFunction objects aren't really designed to be reused for more
than one function, and doing so can leak debug info location information
from one function into the prologue of the next.

Add an assertion in to catch reuses of CodeGenFunction, which
surprisingly only caught the ObjC atomic getter/setter cases. Fix those
and add a test to demonstrate the issue.

The test is a bit slim, because we're just testing for the absence of a
debug location on the prologue instructions, which by itself probably
wouldn't be the end of the world - but the particular debug location
that was ending up there was for the previous function's last
instruction. This produced debug info for another function within this
function, which is something I'm trying to remove all cases of as its a
substantial source of bugs, especially around inlining (see r219215).

Bradley Smith 9ff64332a0 [AArch64] Add workaround for Cortex-A53 erratum (835769)
Some early revisions of the Cortex-A53 have an erratum (835769) whereby it is
possible for a 64-bit multiply-accumulate instruction in AArch64 state to
generate an incorrect result. The details are quite complex and hard to
determine statically, since branches in the code may exist in some
circumstances, but all cases end with a memory (load, store, or prefetch)
instruction followed immediately by the multiply-accumulate operation.

The safest work-around for this issue is to make the compiler avoid emitting
multiply-accumulate instructions immediately after memory instructions and the
simplest way to do this is to insert a NOP.

This patch implements clang options to enable this workaround in the backend.

The work-around code generation is not enabled by default.

Alexey Bataev d74d060d6d [OPENMP] Codegen for 'if' clause in 'parallel' directive.
Adds codegen for 'if' clause. Currently only for 'if' clause used with the 'parallel' directive.
If condition evaluates to true, the code executes parallel version of the code by calling __kmpc_fork_call(loc, 1, microtask, captured_struct/*context*/), where loc - debug location, 1 - number of additional parameters after "microtask" argument, microtask - is outlined finction for the code associated with the 'parallel' directive, captured_struct - list of variables captured in this outlined function.
If condition evaluates to false, the code executes serial version of the code by executing the following code:

global_thread_id.addr = alloca i32
store i32 global_thread_id, global_thread_id.addr
zero.addr = alloca i32
store i32 0, zero.addr
kmpc_serialized_parallel(loc, global_thread_id);
microtask(global_thread_id.addr, zero.addr, captured_struct/*context*/);
kmpc_end_serialized_parallel(loc, global_thread_id);

Where loc - debug location, global_thread_id - global thread id, returned by __kmpc_global_thread_num() call or passed as a first parameter in microtask() call, global_thread_id.addr - address of the variable, where stored global_thread_id value, zero.addr - implicit bound thread id (should be set to 0 for serial call), microtask() and captured_struct are the same as in parallel call.

Also this patch checks if the condition is constant and if it is constant it evaluates its value and then generates either parallel version of the code (if the condition evaluates to true), or the serial version of the code (if the condition evaluates to false).

Chandler Carruth a216cad0fc [complex] Teach Clang to preserve different-type operands to arithmetic
operators where one type is a C complex type, and to emit both the
efficient and correct implementation for complex arithmetic according to
C11 Annex G using this extra information.

For both multiply and divide the old code was writing a long-hand
reduced version of the math without any of the special handling of inf
and NaN recommended by the standard here. Instead of putting more
complexity here, this change does what GCC does which is to emit
a libcall for the fully general case.

However, the old code also failed to do the proper minimization of the
set of operations when there was a mixed complex and real operation. In
those cases, C provides a spec for much more minimal operations that are
valid. Clang now emits the exact suggested operations. This change isn't
*just* about performance though, without minimizing these operations, we
again lose the correct handling of infinities and NaNs. It is critical
that this happen in the frontend based on assymetric type operands to
complex math operations.

The performance implications of this change aren't trivial either. I've
run a set of benchmarks in Eigen, an open source mathematics library
that makes heavy use of complex. While a few have slowed down due to the
libcall being introduce, most sped up and some by a huge amount: up to
100% and 140%.

In order to make all of this work, also match the algorithm in the
constant evaluator to the one in the runtime library. Currently it is
a broken port of the simplifications from C's Annex G to the long-hand
formulation of the algorithm.

Splitting this patch up is very hard because none of this works without
the AST change to preserve non-complex operands. Sorry for the enormous
change.

Follow-up changes will include support for sinking the libcalls onto
cold paths in common cases and fastmath improvements to allow more
aggressive backend folding.

Bill Schmidt cad3a5f7d4 [PATCH][Power] Fix (and deprecate) vec_lvsl and vec_lvsr for little endian
The use of the vec_lvsl and vec_lvsr interfaces are discouraged for
little endian targets since Power8 hardware is a minimum requirement,
and Power8 provides reasonable performance for unaligned vector loads
and stores. Up till now we have not provided "correct" (i.e., big-
endian-compatible) code generation for these interfaces, as to do so
produces poorly performing code. However, this has become the source
of too many questions.

With this patch, LLVM will now produce compatible code for these
interfaces, but will also produce a deprecation warning message for
PPC64LE when one of them is used. This should make the porting direction
clearer to programmers. A similar patch has recently been committed to
GCC.

This patch includes a test for the warning message. There is a companion
patch that adds two unit tests to projects/test-suite.

David Majnemer b3341ea453 MS ABI: Implement thread_local for global variables
Summary:
This add support for the C++11 feature, thread_local global variables.
The ABI Clang implements is an improvement of the MSVC ABI. Sadly,
further improvements could be made but not without sacrificing ABI
compatibility.

The feature is implemented as follows:
- All thread_local initialization routines are pointed to from the
  .CRT$XDU section.
- All non-weak thread_local variables have their initialization routines
  call from a single function instead of getting their own .CRT$XDU
  section entry. This is done to open up optimization opportunities to
  the compiler.
- All weak thread_local variables have their own .CRT$XDU section entry.
  This entry is in a COMDAT with the global variable it is initializing;
  this ensures that we will initialize the global exactly once.
- Destructors are registered in the initialization function using
  __tlregdtor.

Hal Finkel 64567a80d2 Emit @llvm.assume for non-parameter lvalue align_value-attribute loads
We already add the align parameter attribute for function parameters that have
the align_value attribute (or those with a typedef type having that attribute),
which is an important special case, but does not handle pointers with value
alignment assumptions that come into scope in any other way. To handle the
general case, emit an @llvm.assume-based alignment assumption whenever we load
the pointer-typed lvalue of an align_value-attributed variable (except for
function parameters, which we already deal with at entry).

I'll also note that this is more general than Intel's described support in:
  https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/data-alignment-to-assist-vectorization
which states that the compiler inserts __assume_aligned directives in response
to align_value-attributed variables only for function parameters and for the
initializers of local variables. I think that we can make the optimizer deal
with this more-general scheme (which could lead to a lot of calls to
@llvm.assume inside of loop bodies, for example), but if not, I'll rework this
to be less aggressive.

Windows TLS relies on indexing through a tls_index in order to get at
the DLL's thread local variables. However, this index is not exported
along with the variable: it is assumed that all accesses to thread local
variables are inside the same module which created the variable in the
first place.

While there are several implementation techniques we could adopt to fix
this (notably, the Itanium ABI gets this for free), it is not worth the
heroics.

Instead, let's just ban this combination. We could revisit this in the
future if we need to.

Richard noted in the review of r217349 that extra handling of
__builtin_assume_aligned inside of the expression evaluator was needed. He was
right, and this should address the concerns raised, namely:

 1. The offset argument to __builtin_assume_aligned can have side effects, and

 2. If the alignment assumption does not hold, that introduces undefined
    behavior, and undefined behavior cannot appear inside a constexpr.

Hal Finkel 6970ac8b0a Add an implementation of C11's stdatomic.h
Adds a Clang-specific implementation of C11's stdatomic.h header. On systems,
such as FreeBSD, where a stdatomic.h header is already provided, we defer to
that header instead (using our __has_include_next technology). Otherwise, we
provide an implementation in terms of our __c11_atomic_* intrinsics (that were
created for this purpose).

C11 7.1.4p1 requires function declarations for atomic_thread_fence,
atomic_signal_fence, atomic_flag_test_and_set,
atomic_flag_test_and_set_explicit, and atomic_flag_clear, and requires that
they have external linkage. Accordingly, we provide these declarations, but if
a user elides the shadowing macros and uses them, then they must have a libc
(or similar) that actually provides definitions.

atomic_flag is implemented using _Bool as the underlying type. This is
consistent with the implementation provided by FreeBSD and also GCC 4.9 (at
least when __GCC_ATOMIC_TEST_AND_SET_TRUEVAL == 1).

Hal Finkel 1b0d24e03a Initial support for the align_value attribute
This adds support for the align_value attribute. This attribute is supported by
Intel's compiler (versions 14.0+), and several of my HPC users have requested
support in Clang. It specifies an alignment assumption on the values to which a
pointer points, and is used by numerical libraries to encourage efficient
generation of vector code.

Of course, we already have an aligned attribute that can specify enhanced
alignment for a type, so why is this additional attribute important? The
problem is that if you want to specify that an input array of T is, say,
64-byte aligned, you could try this:

  typedef double aligned_double attribute((aligned(64)));
  void foo(aligned_double *P) {
    double x = P[0]; // This is fine.
    double y = P[1]; // What alignment did those doubles have again?
  }

the access here to P[1] causes problems. P was specified as a pointer to type
aligned_double, and any object of type aligned_double must be 64-byte aligned.
But if P[0] is 64-byte aligned, then P[1] cannot be, and this access causes
undefined behavior. Getting round this problem requires a lot of awkward
casting and hand-unrolling of loops, all of which is bad.

With the align_value attribute, we can accomplish what we'd like in a well
defined way:

  typedef double *aligned_double_ptr attribute((align_value(64)));
  void foo(aligned_double_ptr P) {
    double x = P[0]; // This is fine.
    double y = P[1]; // This is fine too.
  }

This attribute does not create a new type (and so it not part of the type
system), and so will only "propagate" through templates, auto, etc. by
optimizer deduction after inlining. This seems consistent with Intel's
implementation (thanks to Alexey for confirming the various Intel-compiler
behaviors).

As a final note, I would have chosen to call this aligned_value, not
align_value, for better naming consistency with the aligned attribute, but I
think it would be more useful to users to adopt Intel's name.

Hal Finkel d2208b59cf Add __sync_fetch_and_nand (again)
Prior to GCC 4.4, __sync_fetch_and_nand was implemented as:

  { tmp = *ptr; *ptr = ~tmp & value; return tmp; }

but this was changed in GCC 4.4 to be:

  { tmp = *ptr; *ptr = ~(tmp & value); return tmp; }

in response to this change, support for sync_fetch_and_nand (and
sync_nand_and_fetch) was removed in r99522 in order to avoid miscompiling code
depending on the old semantics. However, at this point:

  1. Many years have passed, and the amount of code relying on the old
     semantics is likely smaller.

  2. Through the work of many contributors, all LLVM backends have been updated
     such that "atomicrmw nand" provides the newer GCC 4.4+ semantics (this process
     was complete July of 2014 (added to the release notes in r212635).

  3. The lack of this intrinsic is now a needless impediment to porting codes
     from GCC to Clang (I've now seen several examples of this).

It is true, however, that we still set GNUC_MINOR to 2 (corresponding to GCC
4.2). To compensate for this, and to address the original concern regarding
code relying on the old semantics, I've added a warning that specifically
details the fact that the semantics have changed and that we provide the newer
semantics.

Fixes PR8842.

Justin Bogner f59329b083 InstrProf: Avoid repeated linear searches in a hot path
When generating coverage regions, we were doing a linear search
through the existing regions in order to try to merge related ones.
Most of the time this would find what it was looking for in a small
number of steps and it wasn't a big deal, but in cases with many
regions and few mergeable ones this leads to an absurd compile time
regression.

This changes the coverage mapping logic to do a single sort and then
merge as we go, which is a bit simpler and about 100 times faster.
I've also added FIXMEs on a couple of behaviours that seem a little
suspect, while keeping them behaving as they were - I'll look into
these soon.

The test changes here are mostly tedious reorganization, because the
ordering of regions we output has become slightly (but not completely)
more consistent from the almost completely arbitrary ordering we got
before.

not C++ modules, but C++ modules is not significantly less stable than C
modules any more.

Also remove some of the scare words from the modules documentation. We're
certainly not going to remove modules support (though we might change the
interface), and it works well enough to bootstrap and build lots of
non-trivial code.

Note that this does not represent a commitment to the current interface nor

Eli Bendersky f2787a0dc0 CUDA: mark the target of implicit intrinsics properly
r218624 implemented target inference for implicit special members. However,
other entities can be implicit - for example intrinsics. These can not have
inference running on them, so they should be marked host device as before. This
is the safest and most flexible setting, since by construction these functions
don't invoke anything, and we'd like them to be invokable from both host and
device code. LLVM's intrinsics definitions (where these intrinsics come from in
the case of CUDA/NVPTX) have no notion of target, so both host and device
intrinsics can be supported this way.

Clang warns (treated as error by default, but still ignored in system headers)
when passing non-POD arguments to variadic functions, and generates a trap
instruction to crash the program if that code is ever run.

Unfortunately, MSVC happily generates code for such calls without a warning,
and there is code in system headers that use it.

This makes Clang not insert the trap instruction when in -fms-compatibility
mode, while still generating the warning/error message.

Eli Bendersky 9a220fca4a CUDA: Fix incorrect target inference for implicit members.
As PR20495 demonstrates, Clang currenlty infers the CUDA target (host/device,
etc) for implicit members (constructors, etc.) incorrectly. This causes errors
and even assertions in Clang when compiling code (assertions in C++11 mode where
implicit move constructors are added into the mix).

Fix the problem by inferring the target from the methods the implicit member
should call (depending on its base classes and fields).

David Majnemer bb51300970 CodeGen: Don't crash when initializing pointer-to-member fields in bases
Clang uses two types to talk about a C++ class, the
NonVirtualBaseLLVMType and the LLVMType. Previously, we would allow one
of these to be packed and the other not.

This is problematic. If both don't agree on a common subset of fields,
then routines like getLLVMFieldNo will point to the wrong field. Solve
this by copying the 'packed'-ness of the complete type to the
non-virtual subobject. For this to work, we need to take into account
the non-virtual subobject's size and alignment when we are computing the
layout of the complete object.

This fixes PR21089.

Ben Langmuir 11eab6120d Fix an assertion failure trying to emit a trivial destructor in ObjC++
If a base class declares a destructor, we will add the implicit
destructor for the subclass in
ActOnFields -> AddImplicitlyDeclaredMembersToClass

But in Objective C++, we did not compute whether we have a trivial
destructor until after that in
CXXRecordDecl::completeDefinition()

This was leading to a mismatch between the class, which thought it had
no trivial destructor, and the CXXDestructorDecl, which considered
itself trivial. It turns out the reason we delayed setting this until
completeDefinition() was for a warning that has since been removed as
part of -Warc-abi, so we just do it eagerly now.

Nico Weber d191063c6c Follow-up to r214408: Warn on other callee-cleanup functions without prototype too.
According to lore, we used to verifier-fail on:

  void __thiscall f();
  int main() { f(1); }

So that's fixed now. System headers use prototype-less __stdcall functions,
so make that a warning that's DefaultError -- then it fires on regular code
but is suppressed in system headers.

Since it's used in system headers, we have codegen tests for this; massage

Dario Domizioli c4fb8ca7aa Fix ctor/dtor aliases losing 'dllexport' (for Itanium ABI)
This patch makes sure that the dllexport attribute is transferred to the alias when such alias is created. It only affects the Itanium ABI because for the MSVC ABI a workaround is in place to not generate aliases of dllexport ctors/dtors.
A new CodeGenModule function is provided, CodeGenModule::setAliasAttributes, to factor the code for transferring attributes to aliases.

CodeGen would try to come up with an LLVM IR type for a pointer to
member type on the way to forming an LLVM IR type for a pointer to
pointer to member type.

However, if the pointer to member representation has not been locked in yet,
we would not be able to come up with a pointer to member IR type.

In these cases, make the pointer to member type an incomplete type.
This will make the pointer to pointer to member type a pointer to an
incomplete type. If the class eventually obtains an inheritance model,
we will make the pointer to member type represent the actual inheritance
model.

Nico Weber acb35c0272 Change -Wbind-to-temporary-copy from an ExtWarn to an Extension.
The reasoning is that this construct is accepted by all compilers and valid in
C++11, so it doesn't seem like a useful warning to have enabled by default.
Building with -pedantic, -Wbind-to-temporary-copy, or -Wc++98-compat still
shows the warning.

The motivation is that I built re2, and this was the only warning that was
emitted during the build. Both changing re2 to fix the warning and detecting
clang and suppressing the warning in re2's build seem inferior than just giving
the compiler a good default for this warning.

Also move the cxx98compat version of this warning to CXX98CompatPedantic, and

Rafael Espindola 1e4df92f49 Add support for putting constructors and destructos in explicit comdats.
There are situations when clang knows that the C1 and C2 constructors
or the D1 and D2 destructors are identical. We already optimize some
of these cases, but cannot optimize it when the GlobalValue is
weak_odr.

The problem with weak_odr is that an old TU seeing the same code will
have a C1 and a C2 comdat with the corresponding symbols. We cannot
suddenly start putting the C2 symbol in the C1 comdat as we cannot
guarantee that the linker will not pick a .o with only C1 in it.

The solution implemented by GCC is to expand the ABI to have a comdat
whose name uses a C5/D5 suffix and always has both symbols. That is
what this patch implements.

Change 1: we used to add static sanitizer runtimes at the
very beginning of the linker invocation, even before crtbegin.o, which
is gross and not correct in general. Fix this: now addSanitizerRuntimes()
adds all sanitizer-related link flags to the end of the linker invocation
being constructed. It means, that we should call this function in the
correct place, namely, before AddLinkerInputs() to make sure sanitizer
versions of library functions will be preferred.

Change 2: Put system libraries sanitizer libraries depend on at the
end of the linker invocation, where all the rest system libraries are
located. Respect --nodefaultlibs and --nostdlib flags. This is another way
to fix PR15823. Original fix landed in r215940 put "-lpthread" and friends
immediately after static ASan runtime, before the user linker inputs.
This caused significant slowdown in dynamic linker for large binaries
linked against thousands of shared objects. Instead, to mark system
libraries as DT_NEEDED we prepend them with "--no-as-needed" flag,
discarding the "-Wl,--as-needed" flag that could be provided by the user.

Otherwise, this change is a code cleanup. Instead of having a special method
for each sanitizer, we introduce a function collectSanitizerRuntimes() that
analyzes -fsanitize= flags and returns the set of static and shared
libraries that needs to be linked.

Reid Kleckner 0290c9ca5c Teach Clang how to use response files when calling other tools
Patch by Rafael Auler!

This patch addresses PR15171 and teaches Clang how to call other tools
with response files, when the command line exceeds system limits. This
is a problem for Windows systems, whose maximum command-line length is
32kb.

I introduce the concept of "response file support" for each Tool object.
A given Tool may have full support for response files (e.g. MSVC's
link.exe) or only support file names inside response files, but no flags
(e.g. Apple's ld64, as commented in PR15171), or no support at all (the
default case). Therefore, if you implement a toolchain in the clang
driver and you want clang to be able to use response files in your
tools, you must override a method (getReponseFileSupport()) to tell so.

I designed it to support different kinds of tools and
internationalisation needs:

- VS response files ( UTF-16 )
- GNU tools ( uses system's current code page, windows' legacy intl.
  support, with escaped backslashes. On unix, fallback to UTF-8 )
- Clang itself ( UTF-16 on windows, UTF-8 on unix )
- ld64 response files ( only a limited file list, UTF-8 on unix )

With this design, I was able to test input file names with spaces and
international characters for Windows. When the linker input is large
enough, it creates a response file with the correct encoding. On a Mac,
to test ld64, I temporarily changed Clang's behavior to always use
response files regardless of the command size limit (avoiding using huge
command line inputs). I tested clang with the LLVM test suite (compiling
benchmarks) and it did fine.

Test Plan: A LIT test that tests proper response files support. This is
tricky, since, for Unix systems, we need a 2MB response file, otherwise
Clang will simply use regular arguments instead of a response file. To
do this, my LIT test generate the file on the fly by cloning many -DTEST
parameters until we have a 2MB file. I found out that processing 2MB of
arguments is pretty slow, it takes 1 minute using my notebook in a debug
build, or 10s in a Release build. Therefore, I also added "REQUIRES:
long_tests", so it will only run when the user wants to run long tests.

In the full discussion in
http://lists.cs.uiuc.edu/pipermail/llvm-commits/Week-of-Mon-20130408/171463.html,
Rafael Espindola discusses a proper way to test
llvm::sys::argumentsFitWithinSystemLimits(), and, there, Chandler
suggests to use 10 times the current system limit (20MB resp file), so
we guarantee that the system will always use response file, even if a
new linux comes up that can handle a few more bytes of arguments.
However, by testing with a 20MB resp file, the test takes long 8 minutes
just to perform a silly check to see if the driver will use a response
file. I found it to be unreasonable. Thus, I discarded this approach and
uses a 2MB response file, which should be enough.

David Majnemer d59becbc07 MS ABI: The latest VC "14" CTP implements deleted virtual functions
Deleted virtual functions get _purecall inserted into the vftable.
Earlier CTPs would simply stick nullptr in there.

N.B. MSVC can't handle deleted virtual functions which require return
adjusting thunks, they give an error that a deleted function couldn't be
called inside of a compiler generated function. We get this correct by
making the thunk have a __purecall entry as well.

1. We were hitting the NextIsPrevious assertion because we were trying

delaying loading the "preloaded" decls until Sema is available.

Nico Weber 728894340f Add -Wunused-local-typedef, a warning that finds unused local typedefs.
The warning warns on TypedefNameDecls -- typedefs and C++11 using aliases --
that are !isReferenced(). Since the isReferenced() bit on TypedefNameDecls
wasn't used for anything before this warning it wasn't always set correctly,
so this patch also adds a few missing MarkAnyDeclReferenced() calls in
various places for TypedefNameDecls.

This is made a bit complicated due to local typedefs possibly being used only
after their local scope has closed. Consider:

    template <class T>
    void template_fun(T t) {
      typename T::Foo s3foo;  // YYY
      (void)s3foo;
    }
    void template_fun_user() {
      struct Local {
        typedef int Foo;  // XXX
      } p;
      template_fun(p);
    }

Here the typedef in XXX is only used at end-of-translation unit, when YYY in
template_fun() gets instantiated. To handle this, typedefs that are unused when
their scope exits are added to a set of potentially unused typedefs, and that
set gets checked at end-of-TU. Typedefs that are still unused at that point then
get warned on. There's also serialization code for this set, so that the
warning works with precompiled headers and modules. For modules, the warning
is emitted when the module is built, for precompiled headers each time the
header gets used.

Finally, consider a function using C++14 auto return types to return a local
type defined in a header:

    auto f() {
      struct S { typedef int a; };
      return S();
    }

Here, the typedef escapes its local scope and could be used by only some
translation units including the header. To not warn on this, add a
RecursiveASTVisitor that marks all delcs on local types returned from auto
functions as referenced. (Except if it's a function with internal linkage, or
the decls are private and the local type has no friends -- in these cases, it
_is_ safe to warn.)

Several of the included testcases (most of the interesting ones) were provided
by Richard Smith.

(gcc's spelling -Wunused-local-typedefs is supported as an alias for this
warning.)

Ben Langmuir bb1c918ec8 Move the initialization of VAListTagName after InitializeSema()
This innocuous statement to get the identifier info for __va_list_tag
was causing an assertion failure:
  NextIsPrevious() && "decl became non-canonical unexpectedly"
if the __va_list_tag identifier was found in a PCH in some
circumstances, because it was looked up before the ASTReader had a Sema
object to use to find existing decls to merge with.

We could possibly move getting the identifier info even later, or make
it lazy if we wanted to, but this seemed like the minimal change.

Now why a PCH would have this identifier in the first place is a bit
mysterious. This seems to be related to the global module index in some
way, because when the test case is built without the global module index
it will not emit an identifier for __va_list_tag into the PCH, but with
the global module index it does.

Reid Kleckner 9b3e3dfc54 MS inline asm: Allow __asm blocks to set a return value
If control falls off the end of a function after an __asm block, MSVC
assumes that the inline assembly filled the EAX and possibly EDX
registers with an appropriate return value. This functionality is used
in inline functions returning 64-bit integers in system headers, so we
need some amount of compatibility.

This is implemented in Clang by adding extra output constraints to every
inline asm block, and storing the resulting output registers into the
return value slot. If we see an asm block somewhere in the function
body, we emit a normal epilogue instead of marking the end of the
function with a return type unreachable.

Normal returns in functions not using this functionality will overwrite
the return value slot, and in most cases LLVM should be able to
eliminate the dead stores.

Fixes PR17201.

Ed Schouten ca98874943 Allow a scoped lockable object to acquire/release multiple locks.
Scoped lockable objects (mutex guards) are implemented as if it is a
lock itself that is acquired upon construction and unlocked upon
destruction. As it if course needs to be used to actually lock down
something else (a mutex), it keeps track of this knowledge through its
underlying mutex field in its FactEntry.

The problem with this approach is that this only allows us to lock down
a single mutex, so extend the code to use a vector of underlying
mutexes. This, however, makes the code a bit more complex than
necessary, so subclass FactEntry into LockableFactEntry and
ScopedLockableFactEntry and move all the logic that differs between
regular locks and scoped lockables into member functions.

James Molloy 90d6101410 Use store size instead of alloc size when coercing.
Previously, EnterStructPointerForCoercedAccess used Alloc size when determining how to convert. This was problematic, because there were situations were the alloc size was larger than the store size. For example, if the first element of a structure were i24 and the destination type were i32, the old code would generate a GEP and a load i24. The code should compare store sizes to ensure the whole object is loaded. I have attached a test case.

This patch modifies the output of arm64-be-bitfield.c test case, but the new IR seems to be equivalent, and after -O3, the compiler generates identical ARM assembly. (asr x0, x0, #54)

David Majnemer 0392cf892f CodeGen: Don't completely mess-up optimized atomic libcalls
Summary:
We did a great job getting this wrong:
- We messed up which LLVM IR types to use for arguments and return values.
  The optimized libcalls use integer types for values.

  Clang attempted to use the IR type which corresponds to the value
  passed in instead of using an appropriately sized integer type. This
  would result in violations of the ABI for, as an example, floating
  point types.
- We didn't bother recording the result of the atomic libcall in the
  destination memory.

Instead, call the functions with arguments matching the type of the
libcall prototype's parameters.

This fixes PR20780.

Hans Wennborg 0a20f5417c Better codegen support for DLL attributes being dropped after the first declaration (PR20792)
For the following code:

  __declspec(dllimport) int f(int x);
  int user(int x) {
    return f(x);
  }
  int f(int x) { return 1; }

Clang will drop the dllimport attribute in the AST, but CodeGen would have
already put it on the LLVM::Function, and that would never get updated.
(The same thing happens for global variables.)

This makes Clang check dropped DLL attribute case each time the LLVM object
is referenced.

This isn't perfect, because we will still get it wrong if the function is
never referenced by codegen after the attribute is dropped, but this handles
the common cases and makes us not fail in the verifier.
