Summary:
It appears that since https://reviews.llvm.org/D54889, BackgroundThread()
crashes immediately because cur_thread()-> will return a null pointer
which is then dereferenced. I'm not sure why I only see this issue on
FreeBSD and not Linux since it should also be unintialized on other platforms.

Dan Liew 964909e4a6 [CMake] Fix the value of `config.target_cflags` for non-macOS Apple platforms. Attempt #2.
Summary:
The main problem here is that `-*-version_min=` was not being passed to
the compiler when building test cases. This can cause problems when
testing on devices running older OSs because Clang would previously
assume the minimum deployment target is the the latest OS in the SDK
which could be much newer than what the device is running.

Previously the generated value looked like this:

`-arch arm64 -isysroot
<path_to_xcode>/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneOS12.1.sdk`

With this change it now looks like:

`-arch arm64 -stdlib=libc++ -miphoneos-version-min=8.0 -isysroot
<path_to_xcode>/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneOS12.1.sdk`

This mirrors the setting of `config.target_cflags` on macOS.

This change is made for ASan, LibFuzzer, TSan, and UBSan.

To implement this a new `get_test_cflags_for_apple_platform()` function
has been added that when given an Apple platform name and architecture
returns a string containing the C compiler flags to use when building
tests. This also calls a new helper function `is_valid_apple_platform()`
that validates Apple platform names.

This is the second attempt at landing the patch. The first attempt (r359305)
had to be reverted (r359327) due to a buildbot failure. The problem was
that calling `get_test_cflags_for_apple_platform()` can trigger a CMake
error if the provided architecture is not supported by the current
CMake configuration. Previously, this could be triggered by passing
`-DCOMPILER_RT_ENABLE_IOS=OFF` to CMake. The root cause is that we were
generating test configurations for a list of architectures without
checking if the relevant Sanitizer actually supported that architecture.
We now intersect the list of architectures for an Apple platform
with `<SANITIZER>_SUPPORTED_ARCH` (where `<SANITIZER>` is a Sanitizer
name) to iterate through the correct list of architectures.

This reverts commit 1bcdbd68616dc7f8debe126caafef7a7242a0e6b.

Dan Liew 9f59704a5d [CMake] Fix the value of `config.target_cflags` for non-macOS Apple
platforms.

`-arch arm64 -stdlib=libc++ -miphoneos-version-min=8.0 -isysroot
<path_to_xcode>/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneOS12.1.sdk`

This mirrors the setting of `config.target_cflags` on macOS.

This change is made for ASan, LibFuzzer, TSan, and UBSan.

To implement this a new `get_test_cflags_for_apple_platform()` function
has been added that when given an Apple platform name and architecture
returns a string containing the C compiler flags to use when building
tests. This also calls a new helper function `is_valid_apple_platform()`
that validates Apple platform names.

Julian Lettner 2632643454 [TSan][libdispatch] Port gcd-sync-block-copy.mm to C++
Summary:
Apparently, it makes a difference on where a block lives depending on if
it's passed "inline" versus assigned and then passed via a variable.
Both tests in this commit now give a signal, if `Block_copy` is used in
`dispatch_sync`.

Since these tests use different mechanisms (Objective-C retain versus
C++ copy constructor) as proxies to observe if the block was copied, we
should keep both of them.

Commit, that first avoided the unnecessary copy:

Jonas Hahnfeld 0a9cb239a6 [compiler-rt] Fix broken sanitizer bots (hopefully)
According to the logs and local debugging there were two issues:
1) tsan tests listed libc++.a before the source file. That's usually
ok for shared libraries, but the linker will not add symbols from
a static library unless needed at that time. As a result the tests
that rely upon symbols from the library (and not only include the
   headers) had undefined references.
To solve this I'm adding a new substitution %link_libcxx_tsan which
   expands to libc++.a if available.
2) The target Fuzzer-x86_64-Test linked in SANITIZER_TEST_CXX_LIBRARIES
which defaults to -lstdc++. This resulted in error messages like
hidden symbol '_ZdlPv' is not defined locally
hidden symbol '_Znwm' is not defined locally
when using GNU gold (ld.bfd and lld are fine). Removing the linkage

Julian Lettner 68c6764c20 [Sanitizer] iOS: Pull up parallelism_group handling into common.lit.config
Serial execution on iOS devices is not specific to sanitizers. We want
to throttle all on-device tests. Pull the setting of the
parallelism_group up into the common lit configuration file.

Rename `darwin-ios-device-sanitizer` to `ios-device`. This group is not
specific to sanitizers and (theoretically) independent from the host OS.

Note that we don't support running unit tests on-device (there are no
configurations generated for that). If that ever changes, we also need
this configuration in `unittests/lit.common.unit.cfg`.

Summary:

it would be really awesome to be able to use ThinLTO for fuzzing.
However, as @kcc has pointed out, it is currently undefined (untested)
whether the sanitizers actually function properly with LLD and/or LTO.

This patch is inspired by the cfi test, which already do test with LTO
(and/or LLD), since LTO is required for CFI to function.

I started with UBSan, because it's cmakelists / lit.* files appeared
to be the cleanest. This patch adds the infrastructure to easily add
LLD and/or LTO sub-variants of the existing lit test configurations.

Also, this patch adds the LLD flavor, that explicitly does use LLD to link.
The check-ubsan does pass on my machine. And to minimize the [initial]
potential buildbot breakage i have put some restrictions on this flavour.

Please review carefully, i have not worked with lit/sanitizer tests before.

to the failures in compiler-rt standalone builds.

The check-ubsan does pass on my machine. And to minimize the [initial]
potential buildbot breakage i have put some restrictions on this flavour.

Please review carefully, i have not worked with lit/sanitizer tests before.

Kamil Rytarowski 2fd314e2e2 Correct atexit(3) support in TSan/NetBSD
Summary:
The NetBSD specific implementation of cxa_atexit() does not
preserve the 2nd argument if dso is equal to NULL.

Changes:

 - Split paths of handling intercepted __cxa_atexit() and atexit(3).
This affects all supported Operating Systems.
 - Add a local stack-like structure to hold the __cxa_atexit() context.
atexit(3) is documented in the C standard as calling callback from the
earliest to the oldest entry. This path also fixes potential ABI
problem of passing an argument to a function from the atexit(3)
   callback mechanism.
 - Add new test to ensure LIFO style of atexit(3) callbacks: atexit3.cc

Proposal to change the behavior of __cxa_atexit() in NetBSD has been rejected.

With the above changes TSan/NetBSD with the current tsan_interceptors.cc
can bootstrap into operation.

Dmitry Vyukov 9e2cd1c125 [tsan] Add Mutex annotation flag for constant-initialized __tsan_mutex_linker_init behavior
Add a new flag, __tsan_mutex_not_static, which has the opposite sense
of __tsan_mutex_linker_init. When the new __tsan_mutex_not_static flag
is passed to __tsan_mutex_destroy, tsan ignores the destruction unless
the mutex was also created with the __tsan_mutex_not_static flag.

This is useful for constructors that otherwise woud set
__tsan_mutex_linker_init but cannot, because they are declared constexpr.

Google has a custom mutex with two constructors, a "linker initialized"
constructor that relies on zero-initialization and sets
__tsan_mutex_linker_init, and a normal one which sets no tsan flags.
The "linker initialized" constructor is morally constexpr, but we can't
declare it constexpr because of the need to call into tsan as a side effect.

With this new flag, the normal c'tor can set __tsan_mutex_not_static,
the "linker initialized" constructor can rely on tsan's lazy initialization,
and __tsan_mutex_destroy can still handle both cases correctly.

Races on collections from the Swift standard library and user-defined structs and a frequent cause of subtle bugs and it's important that TSan detects those on top of existing LLVM IR instrumentation, which already detects races in direct memory accesses.

Dmitry Vyukov 8096a8c86f tsan: add new mutex annotations
There are several problems with the current annotations (AnnotateRWLockCreate and friends):
- they don't fully support deadlock detection (we need a hook _before_ mutex lock)
- they don't support insertion of random artificial delays to perturb execution (again we need a hook _before_ mutex lock)
- they don't support setting extended mutex attributes like read/write reentrancy (only "linker init" was bolted on)
- they don't support setting mutex attributes if a mutex don't have a "constructor" (e.g. static, Java, Go mutexes)
- they don't ignore synchronization inside of lock/unlock operations which leads to slowdown and false negatives
The new annotations solve of the above problems. See tsan_interface.h for the interface specification and comments.
