Bruce Mitchener 64f74da568 Add initial CMake glue for the NetBSD platform
Summary:
These changes aren't everything what is needed for the CMake target, but it's significantly approaching it.

These changes shouldn't effect the build process on other platforms.

Patch by Kamil Rytarowski, thanks!

Greg Clayton 5b94e11873 When calling FileSpec::AppendPathComponent() we don't need to include "." in the path if m_filename is set to exactly '.'. Previously this would cause a FileSpec object that looked like:
m_directory = "/tmp"
m_filename = "."

To look like:

m_directory = "/tmp/."
m_filename = "foo.txt"

if "foo.txt" was appended to it. With this fix it will be:

m_directory = "/tmp"
m_filename = "foo.txt"

Sean Callanan 6681041d70 Added the concept of a Read-Eval-Print-Loop to LLDB.
A REPL takes over the command line and typically treats input as source code.
REPLs can also do code completion. The REPL class allows its subclasses to
implement the language-specific functionality without having to know about the
IOHandler-specific internals.

Also added a PluginManager-based way of getting to a REPL given a language and
a target.

Also brought in some utility code and expression options that are useful for
REPLs, such as line offsets for expressions, ANSI terminal coloring of errors,
and a few IOHandler convenience functions.

Pavel Labath 3318314722 Fix temporary directory computation on linux (pr25147)
Summary:
On linux, the environment variables for temp directories that lldb checks for are generally not
defined, and the temp directory computation failed. This caused expression evaluation to fall
back to creating "/tmp/lldb-*.expr" debugging files instead of the usual
"$TMP/lldb/pid/lldb-*.expr". Crucially, these files were not cleaned up on lldb exit, which
caused clutter in the /tmp folder, especially on long-running machines (e.g. builtbots). This
commit fixes lldb to use llvm::sys::path::system_temp_directory, which does the same environment
variable dance, but (!) also falls back to the P_tmpdir macro, which is how the temp directory is
defined on linux.

Since the linux temp path computation now succeeds, I needed to also modify Android path
computation to check for actual directory existence, rather then checking whether the operation
failed.

Zachary Turner 9c40264fda Introduce a `PythonFile` object, and use it everywhere.
Python file handling got an overhaul in Python 3, and it affects
the way we have to interact with files. Notably:

1) `PyFile_FromFile` no longer exists, and instead we have to use
   `PyFile_FromFd`. This means having a way to get an fd from
   a FILE*. For this we reuse the lldb_private::File class to
   convert between FILE*s and fds, since there are some subtleties
   regarding ownership rules when FILE*s and fds refer to the same
   file.
2) PyFile is no longer a builtin type, so there is no such thing as
   `PyFile_Check`. Instead, files in Python 3 are just instances
   of `io.IOBase`. So the logic for checking if something is a file
   in Python 3 is to check if it is a subclass of that module.

Additionally, some unit tests are added to verify that `PythonFile`
works as expected on Python 2 and Python 3, and
`ScriptInterpreterPython` is updated to use `PythonFile` instead of
manual calls to the various `PyFile_XXX` methods.

Todd Fiala 7df337f85c ArchSpec: fix unintentional promotion of unspecified unknowns to specified unknowns
* ArchSpec::MergeFrom() would erroneously promote an unspecified
  unknown to a specified unknown when both the ArchSpec and the merged
  in ArchSpec were both unspecified unknowns. This no longer happens,
  which fixes issues with global module cache lookup in some
  situations.

* Added ArchSpec::DumpTriple(Stream&) that now properly prints
  unspecified unknowns as '*' and specified unknows as 'unknown'.
  This makes it trivial to tell the difference between the two.
  Converted printing code over ot using DumpTriple() rather than
  building from scratch.

* Fixed up a couple places that were not guaranteeing that an
  unspecified unknown was recorded as such.

Jason Molenda 8825c5c9b4 Re-commit the (fixed) changes from r248985 which were reverted by Pavel
when they introduced android testsuite regressions. Pavel has run the
testsuite against the updated patch and it completes cleanly now.

The original commit message:

Fixing a subtle issue on Mac OS X systems with dSYMs (possibly
introduced by r235737 but I didn't look into it too closely).

A dSYM can have a per-UUID plist in it which tells lldb where
to find an executable binary for the dSYM (DBGSymbolRichExecutable)
- other information can be included in this plist, like how to
remap the source file paths from their build pathnames to their
long-term storage pathnames.

This per-UUID plist is a unusual; it is used probably exclusively
inside apple with our build system. It is not created by default
in normal dSYMs.

The problem was like this:

  1. lldb wants to find an executable, given only a UUID
     (this happens when lldb is doing cross-host debugging
      and doesn't have a copy of the target system's binaries)

  2. It eventually calls LocateMacOSXFilesUsingDebugSymbols
     which does a spotlight search for the dSYM on the local
     system, and failing that, tries the DBGShellCommands
     command to find the dSYM.

  3. It gets a dSYM. It reads the per-UUID plist in the dSYM.
     The dSYM has a DBGSymbolRichExecutable kv pair pointing to
     the binary on a network filesystem.

  4. Using the binary on the network filesystem, lldb now goes
     to find the dSYM.

  5. It starts by looking for a dSYM next to the binary it found.

  6. lldb is now reading the dSYM over a network filesystem,
     ignoring the one it found on its local filesystem earlier.

Everything still *works* but it's much slower.

This would be a tricky one to write up in a testsuite case;
you really need the binary to not exist on the local system.
And LocateMacOSXFilesUsingDebugSymbols will only compile on
Mac OS X - even if I found a way to write up a test case, it
would not run anywhere but on a mac.

One change Greg wanted while I was touching this code was to
have LocateMacOSXFilesUsingDebugSymbols (which could be asked
to find a binary OR find a dSYM) to instead return a ModuleSpec
with the sum total of everything it could find. This
change of passing around a ModuleSpec instead of a FileSpec
was percolated up into ModuleList::GetSharedModule.

The changes to LocateMacOSXFilesUsingDebugSymbols look larger
than they really are - there's a lot of simple whitespace changes
in there.

I ran the testsuites on mac, no new regressions introduced

Bruce Mitchener eb284e4667 Fix segmentation fault in lldb_private::Symbols::LocateExecutableSymbolFile()
Summary:
When `module_spec.GetFileSpec().GetDirectory().AsCString()` returned a `nullptr` this line caused a segmentation fault:

`std::string module_directory = module_spec.GetFileSpec().GetDirectory().AsCString()`

Some context:
I was remote debugging an executable built with Clang in an Ubuntu VM on my Windows machine using lldb-mi. I copied the executable and nothing else from the Ubuntu VM to the Windows machine.

Then started lldb-server in the Ubuntu VM:

```
./bin/lldb-server gdbserver *:8888 -- /home/enlight/Projects/dbgmits/build/Debug/data_tests_target
```

And ran `lldb-mi --interpreter` on Windows with the following commands:

```
-file-exec-and-symbols C:\Projects\data_tests_target
-target-select remote 192.168.56.101:8888
-exec-continue
```

After which the segmentation fault occurred at the aforementioned line. Inside this method `module_spec.GetFileSpec()` returns an empty `FileSpec` (no dir, no filename), while `module_spec.GetSymbolFileSpec().GetFilename()` returns `"libc-2.19.so"`.

Patch thanks to Vadim Macagon.

Also changed a comment to be slightly more clear about what resolve_path in the

were enabled for a particular build.

This patch converts script interpreters over to a plugin-based system.
Script interpreters now live in source/Plugins/ScriptInterpreter, and
the canonical LLDB interpreter, ScriptInterpreterPython, is moved there
as well.

Any new code interfacing with the Python C API must live in this location
from here on out. Additionally, generic code should never need to
reference or make assumptions about the presence of a specific interpreter
going forward.

avaiable without sleeping (basically, a non-blocking operation). This makes the behaviour of Pipe

Pavel Labath 77dc9569c6 Introduce a MainLoop class and switch llgs to use it
Summary:
This is the first part of our effort to make llgs single threaded. Currently, llgs consists of
about three threads and the synchronisation between them is a major source of latency when
debugging linux and android applications.

In order to be able to go single threaded, we must have the ability to listen for events from
multiple sources (primarily, client commands coming over the network and debug events from the
inferior) and perform necessary actions. For this reason I introduce the concept of a MainLoop.
A main loop has the ability to register callback's which will be invoked upon receipt of certain
events. MainLoopPosix has the ability to listen for file descriptors and signals.

For the moment, I have merely made the GDBRemoteCommunicationServerLLGS class use MainLoop
instead of waiting on the network socket directly, but the other threads still remain. In the
followup patches I indend to migrate NativeProcessLinux to this class and remove the remaining
threads.

Pavel Labath d5b310f2a3 Avoid going through Platform when creating a NativeProcessProtocol instance
Summary:
This commit avoids the Platform instance when spawning or attaching to a process in lldb-server.
Instead, I have the server call a (static) method of NativeProcessProtocol directly. The reason
for this is that I believe that NativeProcessProtocol should be decoupled from the Platform
(after all, it always knows which platform it is running on, unlike the rest of lldb).
Additionally, the kind of platform actions a NativeProcessProtocol instance is likely to differ
greatly from the platform actions of the lldb client, so I think the separation makes sense.

After this, the only dependency NativeProcessLinux has on PlatformLinux is the ResolveExecutable
method, which needs additional refactoring.

This is a resubmit of r241672, after it was reverted due to build failueres on non-linux

Greg Clayton 58c65f0243 Avoid a recursive function call that could run LLDB out of file descriptors in FileSystem::DeleteDirectory(...).
Fixes include:
- use FileSystem::Unlink() instead of a direct call to ::unlink(...) when deleting files when iterating through the current directory
- save directories from current directory in a list and iterate through those _after_ the current directory has been iterated
- Use new FileSpec::ForEachItemInDirectory() instead of manually iterating across directories with opendir()/readdir()/closedir()

We should switch all code over to using FileSpec::ForEachItemInDirectory(...) in the near future and get rid of FileSpec::EnumerateDirectory().

Summary:
Memory reads using the ptrace API need to be executed on a designated thread
and in 4-byte increments. The process_vm_read syscall has no such requirements
and it is about 50 times faster. This patch makes lldb-server use the faster
API if the target kernel supports it. Kernel support for this feature is
determined at runtime. Using process_vm_writev in the same manner is more
complicated since this syscall (unlike ptrace) respects page protection settings
and so it cannot be used to set a breakpoint, since code pages are typically
read-only. However, memory writes are not currently a performance bottleneck as
they happen much more rarely.

Summary:
There is an issue in lldb where the command prompt can appear at the wrong time. The partial fix
we have in for this is not working all the time and is introducing unnecessary delays. This
change does:
- Change Process:SyncIOHandler to use integer start id's for synchronization to avoid it being
  confused by quick start-stop cycles. I picked this up from a suggested patch by Greg to
  lldb-dev.
- coordinates printing of asynchronous text with the iohandlers. This is also based on a
  (different) Greg's patch, but I have added stronger synchronization to it to avoid races.

Together, these changes solve the prompt problem for me on linux (both with and without libedit).
I think they should behave similarly on Mac and FreeBSD and I think they will not make matters
worse for windows.

It also allows the only place for #ifdef ...XML... to be in XML.h and XML.cpp. The API is designed so it will still compile with or without XML support and there is a static function "bool XMLDocument::XMLEnabled()" that can be called to see if XML is currently supported. All APIs will return errors, false, or nothing when XML isn't enabled.

Converted all locations that used XML over to using the host XML implementation.

Added target.xml support to debugserver. Extended the XML register format to work for LLDB by including extra attributes and elements where needed. This allows the target.xml to replace the qRegisterInfo packets and allows us to fetch all register info in a single packet.

We also have someone that is holding a strong reference to the Process so that when you re-run, target replaces its m_process_sp, but it doesn't get destructed because someone has a strong reference to it. I need to track that down. But, even if we have a strong reference to the a process that is outstanding, we need to call Process::Finalize() to have it release as much of its resources as possible to avoid memory bloat.

Removed the ProcessGDBRemote::SetExitStatus() override and replaced it with ProcessGDBRemote::DidExit().

Now we aren't leaking file descriptors and the stand alone test suite should run much better.

Chaoren Lin f9e915ae10 ComputeSupportExeDirectory for Linux
Summary:
Fixes http://reviews.llvm.org/D8511

The original method of using dladdr() could return the incorrect relative
path if not dynamically linked against liblldb and the working directory
has changed. This is not a problem when built with python, since
ScriptInterpreterPython::InitializePrivate calls
HostInfo::GetLLDBPath(ePathTypeLLDBShlibDir, ...) and caches the
correct path before any changes to the working directory.

The /proc/self/exe approach fails if run using Python, but works for all other
cases (including for android, which doesn't have dladdr()).

So if we combine the two, we should reasonably cover all corner cases.

This provides a means to break the massive dependency cycle which

this structure, it will be possible for applications to invoke

Earlier this week I was able to get clang-cl on Windows to be

This patch fixes all of the warnings, many of which were real
bugs.

Pavel Labath 7257d28025 Skip symlinks to the original file when searching for debug info
Summary:
Symbols::LocateExecutableSymbolFile tries to locate the file in containing the debug info in a
splitdebug configuration. It tries to skip over the original file in its search path, but it was
easily fooled by symlinks. This changes the function to use llvm::sys::fs::equivalent, which can
correctly compare symlinks.

As a side effect, I had to fix one test because the address for the "abort" function resolves on
my system to "__GI_abort" now. With the debug info, the libc on my system contains two symbols
associated with the address of the abort function, and lldb prefers __GI_abort, possibly because
the debug info is associated with it. It would be nice at some point to have it prefer the public
symbol name.

Greg Clayton 736888c84b Avoid crashing by not mmap'ing files on network mounted file systems.
This is implemented by making a new FileSystem function:

bool
FileSystem::IsLocal(const FileSpec &spec)

Then using this in a new function:

DataBufferSP
FileSpec::MemoryMapFileContentsIfLocal(off_t file_offset, size_t file_size) const;

This function only mmaps data if the file is a local file since that means we can reliably page in data. We were experiencing crashes where people would use debug info files on network mounted file systems and that mount would go away and cause the next access to a page that wasn't paged in to crash LLDB.

We now avoid this by just copying the data into a heap buffer and keeping a permanent copy to avoid the crash. Updated all previous users of FileSpec::MemoryMapFileContentsIfLocal() in ObjectFile subclasses over to use the new FileSpec::MemoryMapFileContentsIfLocal() function.

Hafiz Abid Qadeer 93ad6b31ec Fix a handling of full path in break-insert.
For some time, eclipse (CDT) uses full path of the file in break-insert command
when putting breakpoint on a source line. On windows, a typical command looks
like the following.
56-break-insert -f F:\\work\\ws\\test\\main.c:49

Current implementation in lldb-mi have problem in 2 ways.
1. It was assuming that there will be only one : in the path which is wrong if full
path is supplied.
2. CDT sends out path with double backslashes in windows which gives error on
resolution.

Fixed the : issue in lldb-mi. Changed FileSpec::Normalize to make sure that it
handles the path with \\ correctly. Added test cases to check for full path in
both lldb-mi and lldb. Also added a test case to check SBFileSpec with double
slashes.

Zachary Turner 0b9d3eefdb Enhance the Pipe interface for better portability.
This patch makes a number of improvements to the Pipe interface.

1) An interface (PipeBase) is provided which exposes pure virtual
   methods for any implementation of Pipe to override. While not
   strictly necessary, this helps catch errors where the interfaces
   are out of sync.

2) All methods return lldb_private::Error instead of returning bool
   or void. This allows richer error information to be propagated
   up to LLDB.

3) A new ReadWithTimeout() method is exposed in the base class and
   implemented on Windows.

4) Support for both named and anonymous pipes is exposed through the
   base interface and implemented on Windows. For creating a new
   pipe, both named and anonymous pipes are supported, and for
   opening an existing pipe, only named pipes are supported.

New methods described in points #3 and #4 are stubbed out on posix,
but fully implemented on Windows. These should be implemented by
someone on the linux / mac / bsd side.

libedit at runtime on Windows.

More recently, r222163 was submitted which re-writes editline
entirely, but makes the situation even worse on Windows, to the
point that it doesn't even compile. While it would be easy to
fix the compilation failure, this patch simply stops compiling
Editline entirely on Windows, as the simple compilation fix would
still result in a broken use of select on Windows, and as such a
broken implementation of Editline.

Since Editline was already disabled to begin with on Windows, we
don't attempt to fix the compilation failure or the underlying
issues, and instead just disable it "even more".

Greg Clayton 8012cadbf3 Fixed more fallout from running the test suite remotely on iOS devices.
Fixed include:
- Change Platform::ResolveExecutable(...) to take a ModuleSpec instead of a FileSpec + ArchSpec to help resolve executables correctly when we have just a path + UUID (no arch).
- Add the ability to set the listener in SBLaunchInfo and SBAttachInfo in case you don't want to use the debugger as the default listener.
- Modified all places that use the SBLaunchInfo/SBAttachInfo and the internal ProcessLaunchInfo/ProcessAttachInfo to not take a listener as a parameter since it is in the launch/attach info now
- Load a module's sections by default when removing a module from a target. Since we create JIT modules for expressions and helper functions, we could end up with stale data in the section load list if a module was removed from the target as the section load list would still have entries for the unloaded module. Target now has the following functions to help unload all sections a single or multiple modules:

    size_t
    Target::UnloadModuleSections (const ModuleList &module_list);

    size_t
    Target::UnloadModuleSections (const lldb::ModuleSP &module_sp);

Jim Ingham 96a1596a7a For some reason, sometimes the directory paths that clang emits have internal
relative paths, like:

/whatever/llvm/lib/Sema/../../include/llvm/Sema/

That causes problems with our type uniquing, since we use the declaration file
and line as one component of the uniquing, and different ways of getting to the
same file will have different directory spellings, though they are functionally
equivalent. We end up with two copies of the exact same type because of this,
and that makes the expression parser give "duplicate type" errors.

I added a method to resolve paths with ../ in them and used that in the FileSpec::Equals,
for comparing Declarations and for doing Breakpoint compares as well, since they also
suffer from this if you specify breakpoints by full path (since nobody knows what
../'s to insert...)

Zachary Turner 172d37d3b9 Create a process launcher abstraction.
This implements Host::LaunchProcess for windows, and in doing so
does some minor refactor to move towards a more modular process
launching design.

The original motivation for this is that launching processes on
windows needs some very windows specific code, which would live
most appropriately in source/Host/windows somewhere. However,
there is already some common code that all platforms use when
launching a process before delegating to the platform specific
stuff, which lives in source/Host/common/Host.cpp which would
be nice to reuse without duplicating.

This commonality has been abstracted into MonitoringProcessLauncher,
a class which abstracts out the notion of launching a process using
an arbitrary algorithm, and then monitoring it for state changes.

The windows specific launching code lives in ProcessLauncherWindows,
and the posix specific launching code lives in ProcessLauncherPosix.
When launching a process MonitoringProcessLauncher is created, and
then an appropriate delegate launcher is created and given to the
MonitoringProcessLauncher.
