Benjamin Kramer 409afcf174 DwarfDebug: MD5 is always little endian, bswap on big endian platforms.
This makes LLVM emit the same signature regardless of host and target endianess.

Manman Ren 9974c88f76 Debug Info Finder: use processDeclare and processValue to list debug info
MDNodes used by DbgDeclareInst and DbgValueInst.

Another 16 testing cases failed and they are disabled with
-disable-debug-info-verifier.
A total of 34 cases are disabled with -disable-debug-info-verifier and will be
corrected.

Manman Ren 74c61b9c80 Debug Info: enable verifying by default and disable testing cases that fail.
1> Use DebugInfoFinder to find debug info MDNodes.
2> Add disable-debug-info-verifier to disable verifying debug info.
3> Disable verifying for testing cases that fail (will update the testing cases
   later on).
4> MDNodes generated by clang can have empty filename for TAG_inheritance and
   TAG_friend, so DIType::Verify is modified accordingly.

Note that DebugInfoFinder does not list all debug info MDNode.
For example, clang can generate:
metadata !{i32 786468}, which will fail to verify.
This MDNode is used by debug info but not included in DebugInfoFinder.
This MDNode is generated as a temporary node in DIBuilder::createFunction
  Value *TElts[] = { GetTagConstant(VMContext, DW_TAG_base_type) };
  MDNode::getTemporary(VMContext, TElts)

Adrian Prantl 418d1d1ea9 Reapply an improved version of r180816/180817.
Change the informal convention of DBG_VALUE machine instructions so that
we can express a register-indirect address with an offset of 0.
The old convention was that a DBG_VALUE is a register-indirect value if
the offset (operand 1) is nonzero. The new convention is that a DBG_VALUE
is register-indirect if the first operand is a register and the second
operand is an immediate. For plain register values the combination reg,
reg is used. MachineInstrBuilder::BuildMI knows how to build the new
DBG_VALUES.

David Blaikie f269497068 DebugInfo: PR14728: TLS support
Based on GCC's output for TLS variables (OP_constNu, x@dtpoff,
OP_lo_user), this implements debug info support for TLS in ELF. Verified
that this output is correct/sufficient on Linux (using gold - if you're
using binutils-ld, you'll need something with the fix for
http://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=15685 in it).

Support on non-ELF is sort of "arbitrary" at the moment - if Apple folks
want to discuss (or just go ahead & implement) how this should work in
MachO, etc, I'm open.

Manman Ren 983a16c08a Debug Info: clean up usage of Verify.
No functionality change.
It should suffice to check the type of a debug info metadata, instead of
calling Verify. For cases where we know the type of a DI metadata, use
assert.

Also update testing cases to make them conform to the format of DI classes.

David Blaikie ea2605dc1a DebugInfo: don't use location lists when the location covers the whole function anyway
Fix up three tests - one that was relying on abbreviation number,
another relying on a location list in this case (& testing raw asm,
changed that to use dwarfdump on the debug_info now that that's where
the location is), and another which was added in r184368 - exposing a
bug in that fix that is exposed when we emit the location inline rather
than through a location list. Fix that bug while I'm here.

David Blaikie 81a4dc75e9 DebugInfo: PR14763/r183329 correct the location of indirect parameters
We had been papering over a problem with location info for non-trivial
types passed by value by emitting their type as references (this caused
the debugger to interpret the location information correctly, but broke
the type of the function). r183329 corrected the type information but
lead to the debugger interpreting the pointer parameter as the value -
the debug info describing the location needed an extra dereference.

Use a new flag in DIVariable to add the extra indirection (either by
promoting an existing DW_OP_reg (parameter passed in a register) to
DW_OP_breg + 0 or by adding DW_OP_deref to an existing DW_OP_breg + n
(parameter passed on the stack).

Manman Ren 4213c39e3c LTO+Debug Info: revert r182791.
Since the testing case uses ref_addr, which requires version 3+ to work,
we will solve the dwarf version issue first.

This patch also causes failures in one of the bots. I will update the patch
accordingly in my next attempt.

David Blaikie 5174c84add Solidify the assumption that a DW_TAG_subprogram's type is a DW_TAG_subroutine_type
There were bits & pieces of code lying around that may've given the
impression that debug info metadata supported the possibility that a
subprogram's type could be specified by a non-subroutine type describing
the return type of a void function. This support was incomplete &
unnecessary. Asserts & API have been changed to make the desired usage
more clear.

Manman Ren 9d4c735885 Dwarf: use a single line table to generate assembly when .loc is used.
This is to fix PR15408 where an undefined symbol Lline_table_start1 is used.
Since we do not generate the debug_line section when .loc is used,
Lline_table_start1 is not emitted and we can't refer to it when calculating
at_stmt_list for a compile unit.

Adrian Prantl 29b9de7bf1 Bugfix for the debug intrinsic handling in InstCombiner:
Since we can't guarantee that the original dbg.declare instrinsic
is removed by LowerDbgDeclare(), we need to make sure that we are
not inserting the same dbg.value intrinsic over and over.
This removes tons of redundant DIEs when compiling optimized code.

Adding another CU-wide list, in this case of imported_modules (since they
should be relatively rare, it seemed better to add a list where each element
had a "context" value, rather than add a (usually empty) list to every scope).
This takes care of DW_TAG_imported_module, but to fully address PR14606 we'll
need to expand this to cover DW_TAG_imported_declaration too.

Eric Christopher 52ce7189c1 The .dwo section shouldn't contain the unrelocated values (and
therefore not at all) of the pc or statement list. We also don't
need to emit the compilation dir so save so space and time
and don't bother.

Fix up the testcase accordingly and verify that we don't emit
the attributes or the items that they use.

Eric Christopher 55863befd1 DW_FORM_sec_offset should be a relocation on platforms that use
a relocation across sections. Do this for DW_AT_stmt list in the
skeleton CU and check the relocations in the debug_info section.

David Blaikie a26d70358f Adding DIImportedModules to DIScopes.
This is just the basic groundwork for supporting DW_TAG_imported_module but I
wanted to commit this before pushing support further into Clang or LLVM so that
this rather churny change is isolated from the rest of the work. The major
churn here is obviously adding another field (within the common DIScope prefix)
to all DIScopes (files, classes, namespaces, lexical scopes, etc). This should
be the last big churny change needed for DW_TAG_imported_module/using directive
support/PR14606.

David Blaikie 8fb8224578 Split out filename & directory from DIFile to start generalizing over DIScopes
This is the first step to making all DIScopes have a common metadata prefix (so
that things (using directives, for example) that can appear in any scope can be
added to that common prefix). DIFile is itself a DIScope so the common prefix
of all DIScopes cannot be a DIFile - instead it's the raw filename/directory
name pair.

David Blaikie a4f770d51c Update debug info test cases with empty SplitDebugFilename field.
This could be 'null' or the empty string, DIDescriptor::getStringField
coalesces the two cases anyway so it's just a matter of legible/efficient
representation.

The change in behavior of the DICompileUnit::get* functions could be
subsumed by the full verification check - but ideally that should just be an
assertion if we could front-load the actual debug info metadata failure paths.

David Blaikie 47922fb006 Upgrading debug info test cases to be (more) compatible with the current debug info format.
These cases were found by further work to remove support for debug info
versioning. Common cleanups (other than changing the version info in the tag
field) included adding the last parameter to compile_units (recently added for
fission support) and other cases of trailing fields in lexical blocks, compile
units, and subprograms.

David Blaikie e5a2f704a4 Upgrade tests to the latest debug info format.
Mostly this is just changing the named metadata (llvm.dbg.sp, llvm.dbg.gv,
llvm.dbg.<func>.lv, etc -> llvm.dbg.cu), adding a few fields to older records
(DIVariable: flags/inlined-at, DICompileUnit: sp/gv/types,
DISubprogram: local variables list)

The tests to update were discovered by a change I'm working on to remove debug
info version support - so any tests using old debug info versions I haven't
updated probably are bad tests or just not actually designed to test debug
info.

Manman Ren 1e4272085d Debug Info: store the files and directories for each compile unit.
We now emit a line table for each compile unit. To reduce the prologue size
of each line table, the files and directories used by each compile unit are
stored in std::map<unsigned, std::vector< > > instead of std::vector< >.

The prologue for a lto'ed image can be as big as 93K. Duplicating 93K for each
compile unit causes a huge increase of debug info. With this patch, each
prologue will only emit the files required by the compile unit.

Manman Ren 584e4c0eda Debug Info: for static member variables, always put AT_MIPS_linkage_name to the
definition DIE (TAG_variable), and put AT_MIPS_linkage_name to TAG_member when
DarwinGDBCompat is true.

Darwin GDB needs AT_MIPS_linkage_name at both places to work.

Manman Ren 5ae44d2b75 Debug Info: for static member variables, add AT_MIPS_linkage_name to the
definition DIE, to make old GDB happy.

We have a regression for old GDB when Clang uses DW_TAG_member to declare
static members inside a class, instead of DW_TAG_variable. This patch will fix
this regression.

Manman Ren 5222195831 Debug Info: for static member variables, move AT_MIPS_linkage_name from
TAG_member inside a class to the specification DIE.

Having AT_MIPS_linkage_name on TAG_member caused old gdb (GNU 6.3.50) to
error out. Also gcc 4.7 has AT_MIPS_linkage_name on the specification DIE.

Manman Ren f019cd62da Debug Info: LiveDebugVarible can remove DBG_VALUEs, make sure we emit them back.
RegisterCoalescer used to depend on LiveDebugVariable. LDV removes DBG_VALUEs
without emitting them at the end.

We fix this by removing LDV from RegisterCoalescer. Also add an assertion to
make sure we call emitDebugValues if DBG_VALUEs are removed at
runOnMachineFunction.

Manman Ren d2c38d684a Attempt to recover gdb bot after r174445.
Failure: undefined symbol 'Lline_table_start0'.
Root-cause: we use a symbol subtraction to calculate at_stmt_list, but
the line table entries are not dumped in the assembly.
Fix: use zero instead of a symbol subtraction for Compile Unit 0.

David Blaikie 33111dfea0 Remove the (apparently) unnecessary debug info metadata indirection.
The main lists of debug info metadata attached to the compile_unit had an extra
layer of metadata nodes they went through for no apparent reason. This patch
removes that (& still passes just as much of the GDB 7.5 test suite). If anyone
can show evidence as to why these extra metadata nodes are there I'm open to
reverting this patch & documenting why they're there.

David Blaikie 9f4b70dde0 PR14566: Debug Info: Removing top level lexical blocks
This adds support for LLVM to accept metadata that doesn't include a top level
lexical block in a function. Specifically LLVM couldn't handle this when there
were file changes relating to these blocks. I've updated a few test cases to
ensure other functionality (such as inlining) isn't affected by this change, but
haven't pervasively updated all the test cases.

Eric Christopher 962c9089d9 Split address information for DWARF5 split dwarf proposal. This involves
using the DW_FORM_GNU_addr_index and a separate .debug_addr section which
stays in the executable and is fully linked.

Sneak in two other small changes:

a) Print out the debug_str_offsets.dwo section.
b) Change form we're expecting the entries in the debug_str_offsets.dwo
   section to take from ULEB128 to U32.

Add tests for all of this in the fission-cu.ll test.

Eric Christopher 2cbd5767ad Add support for separating strings for the split debug info DWARF5
proposal. This leaves the strings in the skeleton die as strp,
but in all dwo files they're accessed now via DW_FORM_GNU_str_index.

Add support for dumping these sections and modify the fission-cu.ll
testcase to have the correct strings and form. Fix a small bug
in the fixed form sizes routine that involved out of array accesses
for the table and add a FIXME in the extractFast routine to fix
this up.

David Blaikie 800a916f99 Emit DW_TAG_formal_parameter for unnamed parameters.
This change essentially reverts r87069 which came without a test case. It
causes no regressions in the GDB 7.5 test suite & fixes 25 xfails (commit
to the test suite to follow). If anyone can present a test case that
demonstrates why this check is necessary I'd be happy to account for it in one
way or another.

Eric Christopher da4b2195fc Extend the dumping infrastructure to deal with additional
sections for debug info. These are some of the dwo sections from the
DWARF5 split debug info proposal. Update the fission-cu.ll testcase
to show what we should be able to dump more of now.

Work in progress: Ultimately the relocations will be gone for the
dwo section and the strings will be a different form (as well as
the rest of the sections will be included).

Eric Christopher c8a310edc1 Refactor out the abbreviation handling into a separate class that
controls each of the abbreviation sets (only a single one at the
moment) and computes offsets separately as well for each set
of DIEs.

No real function change, ordering of abbreviations for the skeleton
CU changed but only because we're computing in a separate order. Fix
the testcase not to care.

Bill Wendling 28fe9e7a36 Handle non-default array bounds.
Some languages, e.g. Ada and Pascal, allow you to specify that the array bounds
are different from the default (1 in these cases). If we have a lower bound
that's non-default, then we emit the lower bound. We also calculate the correct
upper bound in those cases.

Bill Wendling d7767125d5 Use the 'count' attribute to calculate the upper bound of an array.
The count attribute is more accurate with regards to the size of an array. It
also obviates the upper bound attribute in the subrange. We can also better
handle an unbound array by setting the count to -1 instead of the lower bound to
1 and upper bound to 0.

David Blaikie 5a773bb601 Reapply r160148 (reverted in r163570) fixing spurious breakpoints in modern GDB
This reapplies the fix for PR13303 now with more justification. Based on my
execution of the GDB 7.5 test suite this results in:

expected passes: 16101 -> 20890 (+30%)
unexpected failures: 4826 -> 637 (-77%)

There are 23 checks that used to pass and now fail. They are all in
gdb.reverse. Investigating a few looks like they were accidentally passing
due to extra breakpoints being set by this bug. They're generally due to the
difference in end location between gcc and clang, the test suite is trying to
set breakpoints on the closing '}' that clang doesn't associate with any
instructions.

Bill Wendling bfc0e5725f Add a 'count' field to the DWARF subrange.
The count field is necessary because there isn't a difference between the 'lo'
and 'hi' attributes for a one-element array and a zero-element array. When the
count is '0', we know that this is a zero-element array. When it's >=1, then
it's a normal constant sized array. When it's -1, then the array is unbounded.

Peter Collingbourne 4d358b55fa Have getOrCreateSubprogramDIE store the DIE for a subprogram
definition in the map before calling itself to retrieve the
DIE for the declaration.  Without this change, if this causes
getOrCreateSubprogramDIE to be recursively called on the definition,
it will create multiple DIEs for that definition.  Fixes PR12831.

Eli Bendersky f33086052d Continue cleanup of LIT, getting rid of the remaining artifacts from dejagnu
* Removed test/lib/llvm.exp - it is no longer needed 
* Deleted the dg.exp reading code from test/lit.cfg. There are no dg.exp files
  left in the test suite so this code is no longer required. test/lit.cfg is
  now much shorter and clearer 
* Removed a lot of duplicate code in lit.local.cfg files that need access to
  the root configuration, by adding a "root" attribute to the TestingConfig
  object. This attribute is dynamically computed to provide the same
  information as was previously provided by the custom getRoot functions. 
* Documented the config.root attribute in docs/CommandGuide/lit.pod

variable declaration as an argument because we want that address
anyhow for our debug information.

Rafael Espindola e7cc8bff82 The dwarf standard says that the only differences between a out-of-line
instance and a concrete inlined instance are the use of DW_TAG_subprogram
instead of DW_TAG_inlined_subroutine and the who owns the tree.

We were also omitting DW_AT_inline from the abstract roots. To fix this,
make sure we mark abstract instance roots with DW_AT_inline even when
we have only out-of-line instances referring to them with DW_AT_abstract_origin.

FileCheck is not a very good tool for tests like this, maybe we should add
a -verify mode to llvm-dwarfdump.
