Chandler Carruth 9659a127a3 [Support] Clear errno before calling the function in RetryAfterSignal.
For certain APIs, the return value of the function does not distinguish
between failure (which populates errno) and other non-error conditions
(which do not set errno).

For example, `fgets` returns `NULL` both when an error has occurred, or
upon EOF. If `errno` is already `EINTR` for whatever reason, then
```
RetryAfterSignal(nullptr, fgets, ...);
```
on a stream that has reached EOF would infinite loop.

Fix this by setting `errno` to `0` before each attempt in
`RetryAfterSignal`.

Andrew Ng 089303d8ff [ThinLTO] Update ThinLTO cache file atimes when on Windows
ThinLTO cache file access times are used for expiration based pruning
and since Vista, file access times are not updated by Windows by
default:

This means on Windows, cache files are currently being pruned from
creation time. This change manually updates cache files that are
accessed by ThinLTO, when on Windows.

Chandler Carruth 9e0108d90c [Support] This sanity check in the test only works with certain versions
of libstdc++, not just certain versions of GCC. The original macros
broke when using Clang + libstdc++4.9 sadly.

Sadly, testing for versions of libstdc++ has been extremely problematic
in the past, so I'm just narrowing this down to Windows and when using
libc++ as that seems at least very unlikely to keep build bots broken.

Chandler Carruth f814ad8932 [Support] Fix llvm::unique_function when building with GCC 4.9 by
introducing llvm::trivially_{copy,move}_constructible type traits.

This uses a completely portable implementation of these traits provided
by Richard Smith. You can see it on compiler explorer in all its glory:

I have transcribed it, clang-formatted it, added some comments, and made
the tests fit into a unittest file.

I have also switched llvm::unique_function over to use these new, much
more portable traits. =D

Hopefully this will fix the build bot breakage from my prior commit.

Zachary Turner 402ab4964e Fix padding with custom character in formatv.
The format string for formatv allows to specify a custom padding
character instead of the default space.  This custom character was
parsed correctly, but not passed on to the formatter.

Zachary Turner 1adca7c4a5 Add a flag to FileOutputBuffer that allows modification.
FileOutputBuffer creates a temp file and on commit atomically
renames the temp file to the destination file.  Sometimes we
want to modify an existing file in place, but still have the
atomicity guarantee.  To do this we can initialize the contents
of the temp file from the destination file (if it exists), that
way the resulting FileOutputBuffer can have only selective
bytes modified.  Committing will then atomically replace the
destination file as desired.

Zachary Turner 35169f6698 Add a TaskQueue that can serialize work on a ThreadPool.
We have ThreadPool, which can execute work asynchronously on N
background threads, but sometimes you need to make sure the work
is executed asynchronously but also serially.  That is, if task
B is enqueued after task A, then task B should not begin until
task A has completed.  This patch adds such a class.

Zachary Turner 1b76a128a8 Enable ThreadPool to support tasks that return values.
Previously ThreadPool could only queue async "jobs", i.e. work
that was done for its side effects and not for its result.  It's
useful occasionally to queue async work that returns a value.
From an API perspective, this is very intuitive.  The previous
API just returned a shared_future<void>, so all we need to do is
make it return a shared_future<T>, where T is the type of value
that the operation returns.

Making this work required a little magic, but ultimately it's not
too bad.  Instead of keeping a shared queue<packaged_task<void()>>
we just keep a shared queue<unique_ptr<TaskBase>>, where TaskBase
is a class with a pure virtual execute() method, then have a
templated derived class that stores a packaged_task<T()>.  Everything
else works out pretty cleanly.

Even if we support no-canonical-prefix on
clang-cl(https://reviews.llvm.org/D47480), argv0 becomes absolute path
in clang-cl and that embeds absolute path in /showIncludes.

This patch removes such full path normalization from InitLLVM on
windows, and that removes absolute path from clang-cl output
(obj/stdout/stderr) when debug flag is disabled.

Zachary Turner 08426e1f9f Refactor ExecuteAndWait to take StringRefs.
This simplifies some code which had StringRefs to begin with, and
makes other code more complicated which had const char* to begin
with.

In the end, I think this makes for a more idiomatic and platform
agnostic API.  Not all platforms launch process with null terminated
c-string arrays for the environment pointer and argv, but the api
was designed that way because it allowed easy pass-through for
posix-based platforms.  There's a little additional overhead now
since on posix based platforms we'll be takign StringRefs which
were constructed from null terminated strings and then copying
them to null terminate them again, but from a readability and
usability standpoint of the API user, I think this API signature
is strictly better.

Pavel Labath d8c6290ba4 Move VersionTuple from clang/Basic to llvm/Support
Summary:
This kind of functionality is useful to other project apart from clang.
LLDB works with version numbers a lot, but it does not have a convenient
abstraction for this. Moving this class to a lower level library allows
it to be freely used within LLDB.

Since this class is used in a lot of places in clang, and it used to be
in the clang namespace, it seemed appropriate to add it to the list of
adopted classes in LLVM.h to avoid prefixing all uses with "llvm::".

Also, I didn't find any tests specific for this class, so I wrote a
couple of quick ones for the more interesting bits of functionality.

Mikhail Maltsev fa5a728657 [Unittests] Change linker flags of dynamic library tests
A recent change https://reviews.llvm.org/D46898 which had no intended
behavior change, actually modified the linker flags used when linking
the dynamic libraries used by the DynamicLibraryTests unit test. This
made the test fail in our testing environment which runs the tests
from an NFS share. Prior to D46898 the two libraries used by the test
were different (because the library name used to be embedded into the
binary), and after the change they became bit-to-bit identical. This
causes dlopen to return the same handle when these two libraries are
loaded from an NFS share, and the test expects two different handles.

This patch reverts the part of D46898 that is responsible for
changing the linker flags.

Zachary Turner 1f67a3cba9 [FileSystem] Split up the OpenFlags enumeration.
This breaks the OpenFlags enumeration into two separate
enumerations: OpenFlags and CreationDisposition.  The first
controls the behavior of the API depending on whether or not
the target file already exists, and is not a flags-based
enum.  The second controls more flags-like values.

This yields a more easy to understand API, while also allowing
flags to be passed to the openForRead api, where most of the
values didn't make sense before.  This also makes the apis more
testable as it becomes easy to enumerate all the configurations
which make sense, so I've added many new tests to exercise all
the different values.

Summary:
Otherwise, the YAML parser breaks when trying to read them back in
'key: multiline_string_value' cases.

This patch fixes a problem when serializing structs which contain multi-line strings.
E.g., if we try to serialize  the following struct
```
{ "key1": "first line\nsecond line",
  "key2": "another string" }`
```

Before this patch, we got the YAML output that failed to parse:
```
key1: first line
second line
key2: another string
```

After the patch, we get:
```
key1: 'first line
second line'
key2: another string
```

Nico Weber 1238981938 Give shared modules in unittests the platform-native extension, make PipSqueak a MODULE
As far as I can tell from revision history, there's no good reason to call
these files .so instead of .dll in Windows, so use the normal extension.

Also change PipSquak from SHARED to MODULE -- it's never passed to
target_link_libraries() and only loaded via dlopen(), so MODULE is more
appropriate. This makes it possible to delete a workaround for SHARED ldflags
being not quite right as well.

Nico Weber 8a95329923 Rename three cxx files in unittests to cpp.
LLVM uses cpp as its C++ file extension, these are the only three cxx file in
the monorepo. These files apparently were called to escape a CMake check -- use
the LLVM_OPTIONAL_SOURCES mechanism that's meant as an escape for this case
instead.

Keno Fischer 8248d7c661 [CommandLine] Error message for incorrect PositionalEatArgs usage
Summary:
bugpoint has several options specified as `PositionalEatArgs` to pass
options through to the underlying tool, e.g. `-tool-args`. The `-help`
message suggests the usage is: `-tool-args=<string>`. However, this is
misleading, because that's not how these arguments work. Rather than taking
a value, the option consumes all positional arguments until the next
recognized option (or all arguments if `--` is specified at some point).
To make this slightly clearer, instead print the help as:
```
  -tool-args <string>...                            - <tool arguments>...
```
Additionally, add an error if the user attempts to use a `PositionalEatArgs`
argument with a value, instead of silently ignoring it. Example:
```
./bin/bugpoint -tool-args=-mpcu=skylake-avx512
bugpoint: for the -tool-args option: This argument does not take a value.
    Instead, it consumes any positional arguments until the next recognized option.
```

Pavel Labath d20289b31a [Support/Path] Make handling of paths like "///" consistent
Summary:
Various path functions were not treating paths consisting of slashes
alone consistently. For example, the iterator-based accessors decomposed the
path "///" into two elements: "/" and ".". This is not too bad, but it
is different from the behavior specified by posix:
```
A pathname that contains ***at least one non-slash character*** and that
ends with one or more trailing slashes shall be resolved as if a single
dot character ( '.' ) were appended to the pathname.
```
More importantly, this was different from how we treated the same path
in the filename+parent_path functions, which decomposed this path into
"." and "". This was completely wrong as it lost the information that
this was an absolute path which referred to the root directory.

This patch fixes this behavior by making sure all functions treat paths
consisting of (back)slashes alone the same way as "/". I.e., the
iterator-based functions will just report one component ("/"), and the
filename+parent_path will decompose them into "/" and "".

A slightly controversial topic here may be the treatment of "//". Posix
says that paths beginning with "//" may have special meaning and indeed
we have code which parses paths like "//net/foo/bar" specially. However,
as we were already not being consistent in parsing the "//" string
alone, and any special parsing for it would complicate the code further,
I chose to treat it the same way as longer sequences of slashes (which
are guaranteed to be the same as "/").

Another slight change of behavior is in the parsing of paths like
"//net//". Previously the last component of this path was ".". However,
as in our parsing the "//net" part in this path was the same as the
"drive" part in "c:\" and the next slash was the "root directory", it
made sense to treat "//net//" the same way as "//net/" (i.e., not to add
the extra "." component at the end).

Adrian Prantl 5f8f34e459 Remove \brief commands from doxygen comments.
We've been running doxygen with the autobrief option for a couple of
years now. This makes the \brief markers into our comments
redundant. Since they are a visual distraction and we don't want to
encourage more \brief markers in new code either, this patch removes
them all.

Nico Weber 712e8d29c4 s/LLVM_ON_WIN32/_WIN32/, llvm
LLVM_ON_WIN32 is set exactly with MSVC and MinGW (but not Cygwin) in
HandleLLVMOptions.cmake, which is where _WIN32 defined too.  Just use the
default macro instead of a reinvented one.

See thread "Replacing LLVM_ON_WIN32 with just _WIN32" on llvm-dev and cfe-dev.
No intended behavior change.

This moves over all uses of the macro, but doesn't remove the definition
of it in (llvm-)config.h yet.

Pavel Labath 60b7132a7c [Support/Path] Add more tests and improve failure messages of existing ones
Summary:
I am preparing a patch to the path function. While working on it, I
noticed that some of the areas are lacking test coverage (e.g. filename
and parent_path functions), so I add more tests to guard against
regressions there.

I have also found the failure messages hard to understand, so I rewrote
some existing test to give more actionable messages when they fail:
- for tests which run over multiple inputs, I use SCOPED_TRACE, to show
  which of the inputs caused the actual failure.
- for comparisons of vectors, I use gmock's container matchers, which
  will print out the full container contents (and the elements that
  differ) when they fail to match.

Pavel Labath 397e150ddc [Testing/Support] Make Failed() matcher work with abstract error types
Failed<ErrorInfoBase>() did not compile, because it was attempting to
create a copy of the Error object when passing it to the nested matcher,
which was not possible because ErrorInfoBase is abstract.

This commit fixes the problem by making sure we pass the ErrorInfo
object by reference, which also improves the handling of non-abstract
objects, as we avoid potentially slicing an object during the copy.

Mandeep Singh Grang 13e70cb181 [unittests] Change std::sort to llvm::sort in response to r327219
r327219 added wrappers to std::sort which randomly shuffle the container before
sorting.  This will help in uncovering non-determinism caused due to undefined
sorting order of objects having the same key.

To make use of that infrastructure we need to invoke llvm::sort instead of
std::sort.

Note: This patch is one of a series of patches to replace *all* std::sort to
llvm::sort.  Refer the comments section in D44363 for a list of all the
required patches.

Graydon Hoare 54fe208a5f [Support] Make line-number cache robust against access patterns.
Summary:
The LLVM SourceMgr class (which is used indirectly by Swift, though not Clang)
has a routine for looking up line numbers of SMLocs. This routine uses a
shared, special-purpose cache that handles exactly one access pattern
efficiently: looking up the line number of an SMLoc that points into the same
buffer as the last query made to the SourceMgr, at a location in the buffer at
or ahead of the last query.

When this works it's fine, but when it fails it's catastrophic for performancer:
one recent out-of-order access from a Swift utility routine ran for tens of
seconds, spending 99% of its time repeatedly scanning buffers for '\n'.

This change removes the shared cache from the SourceMgr and installs a new
cache in each SrcBuffer. The per-SrcBuffer caches are also "full", in the sense
that rather than caching a single last-query pointer, they cache _all_ the
line-ending offsets, in a binary-searchable array, such that once it's
populated (on first access), all subsequent access patterns run at the same
speed.

Performance measurements I've done show this is actually a little bit faster on
real codebases (though only a couple fractions of a percent). Memory usage is
up by a few tens to hundreds of bytes per SrcBuffer that has a line lookup done
on it; I've attempted to minimize this by using dynamic selection of integer
sized when storing offset arrays. But the main motive here is to
make-impossible the cases we don't always see, that show up by surprise when
there is an out-of-order access pattern.

Max Moroz 650fd6c31c [llvm-cov] Prevent llvm-cov from hanging when a symblink doesn't exist.
Summary:
Previous code hangs indefinitely when trying to iterate through a
symbol link file that points to an non-exist directory. This change
fixes the bug to make the addCollectedPath function exit ealier and
print out correct warning messages.

Pavel Labath 510725c2d6 [Testing/Support]: Better matching of Error failure states
Summary:
The existing Failed() matcher only allowed asserting that the operation
failed, but it was not possible to verify any details of the returned
error.

This patch adds two new matchers, which make this possible:
- Failed<InfoT>() verifies that the operation failed with a single error
  of a given type.
- Failed<InfoT>(M) additionally check that the contained error info
  object is matched by the nested matcher M.

To make these work, I've changed the implementation of the ErrorHolder
class. Now, instead of just storing the string representation of the
Error, it fetches the ErrorInfo objects and stores then as a list of
shared pointers. This way, ErrorHolder remains copyable, while still
retaining the full information contained in the Error object.

In case the Error object contains two or more errors, the new matchers
will fail to match, instead of trying to match all (or any) of the
individual ErrorInfo objects. This seemed to be the most sensible
behavior for when one wants to match exact error details, but I could be
convinced otherwise...

Graydon Hoare 926cd9b837 [YAML] Escape non-printable multibyte UTF8 in Output::scalarString.
The existing YAML Output::scalarString code path includes a partial and
incorrect implementation of YAML escaping logic. In particular, the logic put
in place in rL321283 escapes non-printable bytes only if they are not part of a
multibyte UTF8 sequence; implicitly this means that all multibyte UTF8
sequences -- printable and non -- are passed through verbatim.

The simplest solution to this is to direct the Output::scalarString method to
use the standalone yaml::escape function, and this _almost_ works, except that
the existing code in that function _over_ escapes: any multibyte UTF8 sequence
is escaped, even printable ones. While this is permitted for YAML, it is also
more aggressive (and hard to read for non-English locales) than necessary,
and the entire point of rL321283 was to back off such aggressive over-escaping.

So in this change, I have both redirected Output::scalarString to use
yaml::escape _and_ modified yaml::escape to optionally restrict its escaping to
non-printables. This preserves behaviour of any existing clients while giving
them a path to more moderate escaping should they desire.

Pavel Labath 3b17b84b9c Resubmit r325107 (case folding DJB hash)
The issue was that the has function was generating different results depending
on the signedness of char on the host platform. This commit fixes the issue by
explicitly using an unsigned char type to prevent sign extension and
adds some extra tests.

The original commit message was:

This patch implements a variant of the DJB hash function which folds the
input according to the algorithm in the Dwarf 5 specification (Section
6.1.1.4.5), which in turn references the Unicode Standard (Section 5.18,
"Case Mappings").

To achieve this, I have added a llvm::sys::unicode::foldCharSimple
function, which performs this mapping. The implementation of this
function was generated from the CaseMatching.txt file from the Unicode
spec using a python script (which is also included in this patch). The
script tries to optimize the function by coalescing adjecant mappings
with the same shift and stride (terms I made up). Theoretically, it
could be made a bit smarter and merge adjecant blocks that were
interrupted by only one or two characters with exceptional mapping, but
this would save only a couple of branches, while it would greatly
complicate the implementation, so I deemed it was not worth it.

Since we assume that the vast majority of the input characters will be
US-ASCII, the folding hash function has a fast-path for handling these,
and only whips out the full decode+fold+encode logic if we encounter a
character outside of this range. It might be possible to implement the
folding directly on utf8 sequences, but this would also bring a lot of
complexity for the few cases where we will actually need to process
non-ascii characters.

Serge Pavlov 76d8ccee2e Report fatal error in the case of out of memory
This is the second part of recommit of r325224. The previous part was
committed in r325426, which deals with C++ memory allocation. Solution
for C memory allocation involved functions `llvm::malloc` and similar.
This was a fragile solution because it caused ambiguity errors in some
cases. In this commit the new functions have names like `llvm::safe_malloc`.

The relevant part of original comment is below, updated for new function
names.

Analysis of fails in the case of out of memory errors can be tricky on
Windows. Such error emerges at the point where memory allocation function
fails, but manifests itself when null pointer is used. These two points
may be distant from each other. Besides, next runs may not exhibit
allocation error.

In some cases memory is allocated by a call to some of C allocation
functions, malloc, calloc and realloc. They are used for interoperability
with C code, when allocated object has variable size and when it is
necessary to avoid call of constructors. In many calls the result is not
checked for null pointer. To simplify checks, new functions are defined
in the namespace 'llvm': `safe_malloc`, `safe_calloc` and `safe_realloc`.
They behave as corresponding standard functions but produce fatal error if
allocation fails. This change replaces the standard functions like 'malloc'
in the cases when the result of the allocation function is not checked
for null pointer.

Finally, there are plain C code, that uses malloc and similar functions. If
the result is not checked, assert statement is added.

Usual programming practice does not require checking result of 'operator
new' because it throws 'std::bad_alloc' in the case of allocation error.
However, LLVM is usually built with exceptions turned off, so 'new' can
return null pointer. This change installs custom new handler, which causes
fatal error in the case of out of memory. The handler is installed
automatically prior to call to 'main' during construction of a static
object defined in 'lib/Support/ErrorHandling.cpp'. If the application does
not use this file, the handler may be installed manually by a call to
'llvm::install_out_of_memory_new_handler', declared in
'include/llvm/Support/ErrorHandling.h".

There are calls to C allocation functions, malloc, calloc and realloc.
They are used for interoperability with C code, when allocated object has
variable size and when it is necessary to avoid call of constructors. In
many calls the result is not checked against null pointer. To simplify

Haojian Wu 0bbe66e7ac [YAML] Plain scalars can not begin with most indicators.
Summary:
Discovered when clangd loads YAML symbols, some symbol documentations
start with indicators (e.g. "-"), but YAML prints them as plain scalars
(no quotes), which make the YAML parser fail to parse.

For these kind of strings, we need quotes.

Florian Hahn 4ed75a73e6 [TargetParser] Add missing armv8l ARMv8 variant.
This change adds the missing armv8l variant as an alias of armv8 architecture.
The issue was observed with several regressions in validation on armv8l
hardware (for instance ExecutionEngine/frem.ll failed due to lack of neon fpu).

Tested with regression testsuite passed without regression on ARM and x86_64.

Pavel Labath f13411ee98 [Support] Remove MemoryBuffer::getNewUninitMemBuffer
There is nothing useful that can be done with a read-only uninitialized
buffer without const_casting its contents to initialize it. A better
solution is to obtain a writable buffer
(WritableMemoryBuffer::getNewUninitMemBuffer), and then convert it to a
read-only buffer after initialization. All callers of this function have
already been updated to do this, so this function is now unused.

Pavel Labath 605636d872 [Support] Add WritableMemoryBuffer class
Summary:
The motivation here is LLDB, where we need to fixup relocations in
mmapped files before their contents can be read correctly.  The
MemoryBuffer class does exactly what we need, *except* that it maps the
file in read-only mode.

WritableMemoryBuffer reuses the existing machinery for opening and
mmapping a file. The only difference is in the argument to the
mapped_file_region constructor -- we create a private copy-on-write
mapping, so that we can make changes to the mapped data, but the changes
aren't carried over to the underlying file.

This patch is based on an initial version by Zachary Turner.

Pavel Labath 56c2d99979 [Testing/Support] Make the HasValue matcher composable
Summary:
This makes it possible to run an arbitrary matcher on the value
contained within the Expected<T> object.

To do this, I've needed to fully spell out the matcher, instead of using
the shorthand MATCHER_P macro.

The slight gotcha here is that standard template deduction will fail if
one tries to match HasValue(47) against an Expected<int &> -- the
workaround is to use HasValue(testing::Eq(47)).

The explanations produced by this matcher have changed a bit, since now
we delegate to the nested matcher to print the value. Since these don't
put quotes around the value, I've changed our PrintTo methods to match.

This did not work because the ExpectedHolder was trying to hold the
value in an Optional<T*>. Instead of trying to mimic the behavior of
Expected and try to make ExpectedHolder work with references and
non-references, I simply store the reference to the Expected object in
the holder.

I also add a bunch of tests for these matchers, which have helped me
flesh out some problems in my initial implementation of this patch, and
uncovered the fact that we are not consistent in quoting our values in
the matcher output (which I also fix).

Shoaib Meenai d806af3499 [CMake] Use PRIVATE in target_link_libraries for executables
We currently use target_link_libraries without an explicit scope
specifier (INTERFACE, PRIVATE or PUBLIC) when linking executables.
Dependencies added in this way apply to both the target and its
dependencies, i.e. they become part of the executable's link interface
and are transitive.

Transitive dependencies generally don't make sense for executables,
since you wouldn't normally be linking against an executable. This also
causes issues for generating install export files when using
LLVM_DISTRIBUTION_COMPONENTS. For example, clang has a lot of LLVM
library dependencies, which are currently added as interface
dependencies. If clang is in the distribution components but the LLVM
libraries it depends on aren't (which is a perfectly legitimate use case
if the LLVM libraries are being built static and there are therefore no
run-time dependencies on them), CMake will complain about the LLVM
libraries not being in export set when attempting to generate the
install export file for clang. This is reasonable behavior on CMake's
part, and the right thing is for LLVM's build system to explicitly use
PRIVATE dependencies for executables.

Unfortunately, CMake doesn't allow you to mix and match the keyword and
non-keyword target_link_libraries signatures for a single target; i.e.,
if a single call to target_link_libraries for a particular target uses
one of the INTERFACE, PRIVATE, or PUBLIC keywords, all other calls must
also be updated to use those keywords. This means we must do this change
in a single shot. I also fully expect to have missed some instances; I
tested by enabling all the projects in the monorepo (except dragonegg),
and configuring both with and without shared libraries, on both Darwin
and Linux, but I'm planning to rely on the buildbots for other
configurations (since it should be pretty easy to fix those).

Even after this change, we still have a lot of target_link_libraries
calls that don't specify a scope keyword, mostly for shared libraries.
I'm thinking about addressing those in a follow-up, but that's a
separate change IMO.

Currently when LLD adds files to TarWriter it may pass the same file
multiple times. For example it happens for clang reproduce file which specifies
archive (.a) files more than once in command line. 
Patch makes TarWriter to ignore files with the same path, so it will
add only the first one to archive.

Michal Gorny 8eaa8ec8fc [cmake] Pass -Wl,-z,nodelete on Linux to prevent unloading
Prevent unloading shared libraries on Linux when dlclose() is called.
This is necessary since command-line option parsing API relies on
registering the global option instances in the option parser instance
which can be loaded in a different shared library.

Given that we can't reliably remove those options when a library is
unloaded, the parser ends up containing dangling references. Since glibc
has relatively complex library unloading rules, some of the LLVM
libraries can be unloaded while others (including the Support library)
stay loaded causing quite a mayhem. To reliably prevent that, just
forbid unloading all libraries -- it's a very bad idea anyway.

While the issue arguably happens only with BUILD_SHARED_LIBS, it may
affect any library reusing llvm::cl interface.

Mitch Phillips 40d6663367 Extend SpecialCaseList to allow users to blame matches on entries in the file.
Summary:
Extends SCL functionality to allow users to find the line number in the file the SCL is built from through SpecialCaseList::inSectionBlame(...).

Also removes the need to compile the SCL before use. As the matcher now contains a list of regexes to test against instead of a single regex, the regexes can be individually built on each insertion rather than one large compilation at the end of construction.

This change also fixes a bug where blank lines would cause the parser to become out-of-sync with the line number. An error on line `k` was being reported as being on line `k - num_blank_lines_before_k`.

Note: This change has a cyclical dependency on D39486. Both these changes must be submitted at the same time to avoid a build breakage.

Note the string "=GS\x00". The failure happens because the code is
searching the string against an array of known collated names. "GS\x00"
is a hit, but since len takes into account an extra NUL byte, indexing
into cp->name[len] goes one byte past it's allocated memory. Fix this to

Peter Collingbourne 0dfdb44797 Support: Have directory_iterator::status() return FindFirstFileEx/FindNextFile results on Windows.
This allows clients to avoid an unnecessary fs::status() call on each
directory entry. Because the information returned by FindFirstFileEx
is a subset of the information returned by a regular status() call,
I needed to extract a base class from file_status that contains only
that information.

On my machine, this reduces the time required to enumerate a ThinLTO
cache directory containing 520k files from almost 4 minutes to less
than 2 seconds.

Peter Collingbourne 80e31f1f84 Support: Rewrite Windows implementation of sys::fs::rename to be more POSIXy.
The current implementation of rename uses ReplaceFile if the
destination file already exists. According to the documentation for
ReplaceFile, the source file is opened without a sharing mode. This
means that there is a short interval of time between when ReplaceFile
renames the file and when it closes the file during which the
destination file cannot be opened.

This behaviour is not POSIX compliant because rename is supposed
to be atomic. It was also causing intermittent link failures when
linking with a ThinLTO cache; the ThinLTO cache implementation expects
all cache files to be openable.

This patch addresses that problem by re-implementing rename
using CreateFile and SetFileInformationByHandle. It is roughly a
reimplementation of ReplaceFile with a better sharing policy as well
as support for renaming in the case where the destination file does
not exist.

This implementation is still not fully POSIX. Specifically in the case
where the destination file is open at the point when rename is called,
there will be a short interval of time during which the destination
file will not exist. It isn't clear whether it is possible to avoid
this using the Windows API.

Rui Ueyama 283f56ac03 Fix off-by-one error in TarWriter.
The tar format originally supported up to 99 byte filename. The two
extensions are proposed later: Ustar or PAX.

In the UStar extension, a pathanme is split at a '/' and its "prefix"
and "suffix" are stored in different locations in the tar header. Since
"prefix" can be up to 155 byte, it can represent up to 254 byte
filename (but exact limit depends on the location of '/' character in
a pathname.)

Our TarWriter first attempt to use UStar extension and then fallback to
PAX extension.

But there's a bug in UStar header creation. "Suffix" part must be a NUL-
terminated string, but we didn't handle it correctly. As a result, if
your filename just 100 characters long, the last character was droppped.

This patch fixes the issue.

Vlad Tsyrklevich 998b220e97 Add section headers to SpecialCaseLists
Summary:
Sanitizer blacklist entries currently apply to all sanitizers--there
is no way to specify that an entry should only apply to a specific
sanitizer. This is important for Control Flow Integrity since there are
several different CFI modes that can be enabled at once. For maximum
security, CFI blacklist entries should be scoped to only the specific
CFI mode(s) that entry applies to.

Adding section headers to SpecialCaseLists allows users to specify more
information about list entries, like sanitizer names or other metadata,
like so:

  [section1]
  fun:*fun1*
  [section2|section3]
  fun:*fun23*

The section headers are regular expressions. For backwards compatbility,
blacklist entries entered before a section header are put into the '[*]'
section so that blacklists without sections retain the same behavior.

SpecialCaseList has been modified to also accept a section name when
matching against the blacklist. It has also been modified so the
follow-up change to clang can define a derived class that allows
matching sections by SectionMask instead of by string.

Sam Clegg 66a99e41cd Change encodeU/SLEB128 to pad to certain number of bytes
Previously the 'Padding' argument was the number of padding
bytes to add. However most callers that use 'Padding' know
how many overall bytes they need to write.  With the previous
code this would mean encoding the LEB once to find out how
many bytes it would occupy and then using this to calulate
the 'Padding' value.

cantFail is the moral equivalent of an assertion that the wrapped call must
return a success value. This patch allows clients to include an associated
error message (the same way they would for an assertion for llvm_unreachable).

Lang Hames 5d06c23d4c [Error] Add a handleExpected utility.
handleExpected is similar to handleErrors, but takes an Expected<T> as its first
input value and a fallback functor as its second, followed by an arbitary list
of error handlers (equivalent to the handler list of handleErrors). If the first
input value is a success value then it is returned from handleErrors
unmodified. Otherwise the contained error(s) are passed to handleErrors, along
with the handlers. If handleErrors returns success (indicating that all errors
have been handled) then handleExpected runs the fallback functor and returns its
result. If handleErrors returns a failure value then the failure value is
returned and the fallback functor is never run.

This simplifies the process of re-trying operations that return Expected values.
Without this utility such retry logic is cumbersome as the internal Error must
be explicitly extracted from the Expected value, inspected to see if its
handleable and then consumed:

Stephen Hines cc14a386d8 Fix two (three) more issues with unchecked Error.
Summary:
If assertions are disabled, but LLVM_ABI_BREAKING_CHANGES is enabled,
this will cause an issue with an unchecked Success. Switching to
consumeError() is the correct way to bypass the check. This patch also
includes disabling 2 tests that can't work without assertions enabled,
since llvm_unreachable() with NDEBUG won't crash.

Benoit Belley d9017cc65e [Support] PR33388 - Fix formatv_object move constructor
formatv_object currently uses the implicitly defined move constructor,
but it is buggy. In typical use-cases, the problem doesn't show-up
because all calls to the move constructor are elided. Thus, the buggy
constructors are never invoked.

The issue especially shows-up when code is compiled using the
-fno-elide-constructors compiler flag. For instance, this is useful when
attempting to collect accurate code coverage statistics.

The exact issue is the following:

The Parameters data member is correctly moved, thus making the
parameters occupy a new memory location in the target
object. Unfortunately, the default copying of the Adapters blindly
copies the vector of pointers, leaving each of these pointers
referencing the parameters in the original object instead of the copied
one. These pointers quickly become dangling when the original object is
deleted. This quickly leads to crashes.

The solution is to update the Adapters pointers when performing a move.
The copy constructor isn't useful for format objects and can thus be
deleted.

This resolves PR33388.

Florian Hahn 67ddd1d08f [TargetParser] Use enum classes for various ARM kind enums.
Summary:
Using c++11 enum classes ensures that only valid enum values are used
for ArchKind, ProfileKind, VersionKind and ISAKind. This removes the
need for checks that the provided values map to a proper enum value,
allows us to get rid of AK_LAST and prevents comparing values from
different enums. It also removes a bunch of static_cast
from unsigned to enum values and vice versa, at the cost of introducing
static casts to access AArch64ARCHNames and ARMARCHNames by ArchKind.

FPUKind and ArchExtKind are the only remaining old-style enum in
TargetParser.h. I think it's beneficial to keep ArchExtKind as old-style
enum, but FPUKind can be converted too, but this patch is quite big, so
could do this in a follow-up patch. I could also split this patch up a
bit, if people would prefer that.

Richard Smith d0c0c13447 Fix ODR violations due to abuse of LLVM_YAML_IS_(FLOW_)?SEQUENCE_VECTOR
This is a short-term fix for PR33650 aimed to get the modules build bots green again.

Remove all the places where we use the LLVM_YAML_IS_(FLOW_)?SEQUENCE_VECTOR
macros to try to locally specialize a global template for a global type. That's
not how C++ works.

Instead, we now centrally define how to format vectors of fundamental types and
of string (std::string and StringRef). We use flow formatting for the former
cases, since that's the obvious right thing to do; in the latter case, it's
less clear what the right choice is, but flow formatting is really bad for some
cases (due to very long strings), so we pick block formatting. (Many of the
cases that were using flow formatting for strings are improved by this change.)

Other than the flow -> block formatting change for some vectors of strings,
this should result in no functionality change.

Pavel Labath fe09f506b6 Recommit "[Support] Add RetryAfterSignal helper function"
The difference from the previous version is the use of decltype, as the
implementation of std::result_of in libc++ did not work correctly for
variadic function like open(2).

Original summary:
This function retries an operation if it was interrupted by a signal
(failed with EINTR). It's inspired by the TEMP_FAILURE_RETRY macro in
glibc, but I've turned that into a template function. I've also added a
fail-value argument, to enable the function to be used with e.g.
fopen(3), which is documented to fail for any reason that open(2) can
fail (which includes EINTR).

The main user of this function will be lldb, but there were also a
couple of uses within llvm that I could simplify using this function.

Peter Collingbourne 8d29223386 Add a ThinLTO cache policy for controlling the maximum cache size in bytes.
This is useful when an upper limit on the cache size needs to be
controlled independently of the amount of the amount of free space.

One use case is a machine with a large number of cache directories
(e.g. a buildbot slave hosting a large number of independent build
jobs). By imposing an upper size limit on each cache directory,
users can more easily estimate the server's capacity.

Pavel Labath efd57a8aec Revert "[Support] Add RetryAfterSignal helper function" and subsequent fix
The fix in r306003 uncovered a pretty fundamental problem that libc++
implementation of std::result_of does not handle the prototype of
open(2) correctly (presumably because it contains ...). This makes the
whole function unusable in its current form, so I am also reverting the
original commit (r305892), which introduced the function, at least until
I figure out a way to solve the libc++ issue.

Pavel Labath fafedb11ce [Support] Fix return type deduction in RetryAfterSignal
The default value of the ResultT template argument (which was there only
to avoid spelling out the long std::result_of template multiple times)
was being overriden by function call template argument deduction. This
manifested itself as a compiler error when calling the function as
FILE *X = RetryAfterSignal(nullptr, fopen, ...)
because the function would try to assign the result of fopen to
nullptr_t, but a more insidious side effect was that
RetryAfterSignal(-1, read, ...) would return "int" instead of "ssize_t",
losing precision along the way.

I fix this by having the function take the argument in a way that
prevents argument deduction from kicking in and add a test that makes
sure the return type is correct.

Pavel Labath 1f6aea2eb3 [Support] Add RetryAfterSignal helper function
Summary:
This function retries an operation if it was interrupted by a signal
(failed with EINTR). It's inspired by the TEMP_FAILURE_RETRY macro in
glibc, but I've turned that into a template function. I've also added a
fail-value argument, to enable the function to be used with e.g.
fopen(3), which is documented to fail for any reason that open(2) can
fail (which includes EINTR).

The main user of this function will be lldb, but there were also a
couple of uses within llvm that I could simplify using this function.

Zachary Turner cb30e705d8 [gtest] Create a shared include directory for gtest utilities.
Many times unit tests for different libraries would like to use
the same helper functions for checking common types of errors.

This patch adds a common library with helpers for testing things
in Support, and introduces helpers in here for integrating the
llvm::Error and llvm::Expected<T> classes with gtest and gmock.

Normally, we would just be able to write:

   EXPECT_THAT(someFunction(), succeeded());

but due to some quirks in llvm::Error's move semantics, gmock
doesn't make this easy, so two macros EXPECT_THAT_ERROR() and
EXPECT_THAT_EXPECTED() are introduced to gloss over the difficulties.
Consider this an exception, and possibly only temporary as we
look for ways to improve this.

Chandler Carruth 9a67b07398 Re-sort #include lines for unittests. This uses a slightly modified
clang-format (https://reviews.llvm.org/D33932) to keep primary headers
at the top and handle new utility headers like 'gmock' consistently with
other utility headers.

No other change was made. I did no manual edits, all of this is
clang-format.

This should allow other changes to have more clear and focused diffs,
and is especially motivated by moving some headers into more focused
libraries.

We have to check gCrashRecoveryEnabled before using __try.

In other words, SEH works too well and we ended up recovering from
crashes in implicit module builds that we weren't supposed to. Only
libclang is supposed to enable CrashRecoveryContext to allow implicit
module builds to crash.

Summary:
It avoids problems when other libraries raise exceptions. In particular,
OutputDebugString raises an exception that the debugger is supposed to
catch and suppress. VEH kicks in first right now, and that is entirely
incorrect.

Unfortunately, GCC does not support SEH, so I've kept the old buggy VEH
codepath around. We could fix it with SetUnhandledExceptionFilter, but
that is not per-thread, so a well-behaved library shouldn't set it.

Ahmed Bougacha 9097967dd9 [AArch64] Make the TargetParser add CPU exts provided by the arch.
Otherwise, each CPU has to manually specify the extensions it supports,
even though they have to be a superset of the base arch extensions.
And when there's redundant data there's stale data, so most of the CPUs
lie about the features they support (almost none lists AEK_FP).

Instead, do the saner thing: add the optional extensions on top of the
base extensions provided by the architecture.

The ARM TargetParser has the same behavior.

Zachary Turner 59e83892e0 Fix use after free in BinaryStream library.
This was reported by the ASAN bot, and it turned out to be
a fairly fundamental problem with the design of VarStreamArray
and the way it passes context information to the extractor.

The fix was cumbersome, and I'm not entirely pleased with it,
so I plan to revisit this design in the future when I'm not
pressed to get the bots green again.  For now, this fixes
the issue by storing the context information by value instead
of by reference, and introduces some impossibly-confusing
template magic to make things "work".

Dimitry Andric 49e033f41d Don't test setting sticky bits on files for modern BSDs
Summary: In rL297945, jhenderson added methods for setting permissions
to sys::fs, but some of the unittests that attempt to set sticky bits
(01000) on files fail on modern BSDs, such as FreeBSD, NetBSD and
OpenBSD.  This is because those systems do not allow regular users to
set sticky bits on files, only on directories.  Fix it by disabling
these particular tests on modern BSDs.

Diana Picus 7c6dee9f16 [ARM] Rename HW div feature to HW div Thumb. NFCI.
The hardware div feature refers only to Thumb, but because of its name
it is tempting to use it to check for hardware division in general,
which may cause problems in ARM mode. See https://reviews.llvm.org/D32005.

This patch adds "Thumb" to its name, to make its scope clear. One
notable place where I haven't made the change is in the feature flag
(used with -mattr), which is still hwdiv. Changing it would also require
changes in a lot of tests, including clang tests, and it doesn't seem
like it's worth the effort.

The naive way to do this is to write

but using this function you cannot produce a word with every
bit set to 1 (i.e. leadingBitMask<uint8_t>(8)) because left
shift is undefined when N is greater than or equal to the
number of bits in the word.

This patch provides an efficient, branch-free implementation
that works for all values of N in [0, CHAR_BIT*sizeof(T)]

Zachary Turner 2bb94cd0dd [Support] Add support for unique_ptr<> to Casting.h.
Often you have a unique_ptr<T> where T supports LLVM's
casting methods, and you wish to cast it to a unique_ptr<U>.
Prior to this patch, this requires doing hacky things like:

unique_ptr<U> Casted;
if (isa<U>(Orig.get()))
  Casted.reset(cast<U>(Orig.release()));

This is overly verbose, and it would be nice to just be able
to use unique_ptr directly with cast and dyn_cast.  To this end,
this patch updates cast<> to work directly with unique_ptr<T>,
so you can now write:

auto Casted = cast<U>(std::move(Orig));

Since it's possible for dyn_cast<> to fail, however, we choose
to use a slightly different API here, because it's awkward to
write

if (auto Casted = dyn_cast<U>(std::move(Orig))) {}

when Orig may end up not having been moved at all.  So the
interface for dyn_cast is

if (auto Casted = unique_dyn_cast<U>(Orig)) {}

Where the inclusion of `unique` in the name of the cast operator
re-affirms that regardless of success of or fail of the casting,
exactly one of the input value and the return value will contain
a non-null result.

Yi Kong 57019dc9b2 Implement host CPU detection for AArch64
This shares detection logic with ARM(32), since AArch64 capable CPUs may
also run in 32-bit system mode.

We observe weird /proc/cpuinfo output for MSM8992 and MSM8994, where
they report all CPU cores as one single model, depending on which CPU
core the kernel is running on. As a workaround, we hardcode the known
CPU part name for these SoCs.

For big.LITTLE systems, this patch would only return the part name of
the first core (usually the little core). Proper support will be added
in a follow-up change.

This reverts r299062, which caused build failures on Windows.
It also reverts the attempts to fix the windows builds in r299064 and r299065.
The introduction of namespace llvm::sys::detail makes MSVC, and seemingly also
mingw, complain about ambiguity with the existing namespace llvm::detail.
E.g.:
C:\b\slave\sanitizer-windows\llvm\include\llvm/Support/MathExtras.h(184): error C2872: 'detail': ambiguous symbol
C:\b\slave\sanitizer-windows\llvm\include\llvm/Support/PointerLikeTypeTraits.h(31): note: could be 'llvm::detail'

In r299064 and r299065 I tried to fix these ambiguities, based on the errors
reported in the log files. It seems however that the build stops early when
this kind of error is encountered, and many build-then-fix-iterations on
Windows may be needed to fix this. Therefore reverting r299062 for now to
get the build working again on Windows.

Kristof Beyls 9e46396ecc Refactor getHostCPUName to allow testing on non-native hardware.
This refactors getHostCPUName so that for the architectures that get the
host cpu info on linux from /proc/cpuinfo, the /proc/cpuinfo parsing
logic is present in the build, even if it wasn't built on a linux system
for that architecture.

Since the code is present in the build, we can then test that code also
on other systems, i.e. we don't need to have buildbots setup for all
architectures on linux to be able to test this. Instead, developers will
test this as part of the regression test run.

As an example, a few unit tests are added to test getHostCPUName for ARM
running linux. A unit test is preferred over a lit-based test, since the
expectation is that in the future, the functionality here will grow over
what can be tested with "llc -mcpu=native".

This is a preparation step to enable implementing the range of
improvements discussed on PR30516, such as adding AArch64 support,
support for big.LITTLE systems, reducing code duplication.

Zachary Turner d8350cf3fc Make the home_directory test a little more resilient.
It's possible (albeit strange) for $HOME to intentionally
point somewhere other than the user's home directory as
reported by the password database.  Our test shouldn't fail
in this case.  This patch updates the test to pull directly
from the password database before unsetting $HOME, rather
than comparing the return value of home_directory() to the
original value of the environment variable.

This is something of an edge case, but when the $HOME environment
variable is not set, we can still look in the password database
to get the current user's home directory.

Added a test for this by getting the value of $HOME, then unsetting

and that the value is the same as what we originally read from
the environment.

Zachary Turner 82a0c97b32 Add a function to MD5 a file's contents.
In doing so, clean up the MD5 interface a little.  Most
existing users only care about the lower 8 bytes of an MD5,
but for some users that care about the upper and lower,
there wasn't a good interface.  Furthermore, consumers
of the MD5 checksum were required to handle endianness
details on their own, so it seems reasonable to abstract
this into a nicer interface that just gives you the right
value.

Zachary Turner 5c5091fcb7 [Support] Support both Windows and Posix paths on both platforms.
Previously which path syntax we supported dependend on what
platform we were compiling LLVM on.  While this is normally
desirable, there are situations where we need to be able to
handle a path that we know was generated on a remote host.
Remote debugging, for example, or parsing debug info.

99% of the code in LLVM for handling paths was platform
agnostic and literally just a few branches were gated behind
pre-processor checks, so this changes those sites to use
runtime checks instead, and adds a flag to every path
API that allows one to override the host native syntax.

James Henderson 566fdf4a2a [Support] Add support for getting file system permissions on Windows and implement sys::fs::set/getPermissions to work with them
This change adds support for functions to set and get file permissions, in a similar manner to the C++17 permissions() function in <filesystem>. The setter uses chmod on Unix systems and SetFileAttributes on Windows, setting the permissions as passed in. The getter simply uses the existing status() function.

Prior to this change, status() would always return an unknown value for the permissions on a Windows file, making it impossible to test the new function on Windows. I have therefore added support for this as well. On Linux, prior to this change, the permissions included the file type, which should actually be accessed via a different member of the file_status class.

Note that on Windows, only the *_write permission bits have any affect - if any are set, the file is writable, and if not, the file is read-only. This is in common with what MSDN describes for their behaviour of std::filesystem::permissions(), and also what boost::filesystem does.

The motivation behind this change is so that we can easily test behaviour on read-only files in LLVM unit tests, but I am sure that others may find it useful in some situations.

Rafael Espindola 82d55239ea Fix crash when multiple raw_fd_ostreams to stdout are created.
If raw_fd_ostream is constructed with the path of "-", it claims
ownership of the stdout file descriptor. This means that it closes
stdout when it is destroyed. If there are multiple users of
raw_fd_ostream wrapped around stdout, then a crash can occur because
of operations on a closed stream.

An example of this would be running something like "clang -S -o - -MD
-MF - test.cpp". Alternatively, using outs() (which creates a local
version of raw_fd_stream to stdout) anywhere combined with such a
stream usage would cause the crash.

The fix duplicates the stdout file descriptor when used within
raw_fd_ostream, so that only that particular descriptor is closed when
the stream is destroyed.

Jordan Rose ca9ca5440e [unittest] Explicitly specify alignment when using BumpPtrAllocator.
r297310 began inserting red zones around allocations under ASan, which
perturbs the alignment of subsequent allocations. Deliberately specify
this in two places where it matters.

Fixes failures when these tests are run under ASan and UBSan together.

LLVM already has real_path like functionality, but it is
cumbersome to use and involves clean up after (e.g. you have
to call openFileForRead, then close the resulting FD).

Furthermore, on Windows it doesn't work for directories since
opening a directory and opening a file require slightly
different flags.

So I add a simple function `real_path` which works for all
paths on all platforms and has a simple to use interface.

In doing so, I add the ability to opt in to resolving tilde
expressions (e.g. ~/foo), which are normally handled by
the shell.

Zachary Turner 260bda3fbc [Support] Add llvm::sys::fs::remove_directories.
We already have a function create_directories() which can create
an entire tree, and remove() which can remove an empty directory,
but we do not have remove_directories() which can remove an entire
tree.  This patch adds such a function.

Because removing a directory tree can have dangerous consequences
when the tree contains a directory symlink, the patch here updates
the existing directory_iterator construct to optionally not follow
symlinks (previously it would always follow symlinks).  The delete
algorithm uses this flag so that for symlinks, only the links are
removed, and not the targets.

On Windows this is implemented with SHFileOperation, which also
does not recurse into symbolic links or junctions.

Windows does not treat `~` as a reference to home directory, so the call
to `llvm::sys::path::native` on, say, `~/somedir` produces `~\somedir`,
which has different meaning than the original path. With this change
tilde is expanded on Windows to user profile directory. Such behavior
keeps original meaning of the path and is consistent with the algorithm
of `llvm::sys::path::home_directory`.

Lang Hames fd4de9108e [Support][Error] Add a 'cantFail' utility function for known-safe calls to
fallible functions.

Some fallible functions (those returning Error or Expected<T>) may only fail
for a subset of their inputs. For example, a "safe" square root function will
succeed for all finite positive inputs:

  Expected<double> safeSqrt(double d) {
    if (d < 0 && !isnan(d) && !isinf(d))
      return make_error<...>("Cannot sqrt -ve values, nans or infs");
    return sqrt(d);
  }

At a safe callsite for such a function, checking the error return value is
redundant:

  if (auto ValOrErr = safeSqrt(42.0)) {
    // use *ValOrErr.
  } else
    llvm_unreachable("safeSqrt should always succeed for +ve values");

The cantFail function wraps this check and extracts the contained value,
simplifying control flow:

  double Result = cantFail(safeSqrt(42.0));

This function should be used with care: it is a programmatic error to wrap a
call with cantFail if it can in fact fail. For debug builds this will
result in llvm_unreachable being called. For release builds the behavior is
undefined.

Use of this function is likely to be rare in library code, but more common
for tool and unit-test code where inputs and mock functions may be known to be
safe.

Eric Fiselier 87c87f4c30 [CMake] Fix pthread handling for out-of-tree builds
LLVM defines `PTHREAD_LIB` which is used by AddLLVM.cmake and various projects
to correctly link the threading library when needed. Unfortunately
`PTHREAD_LIB` is defined by LLVM's `config-ix.cmake` file which isn't installed
and therefore can't be used when configuring out-of-tree builds. This causes
such builds to fail since `pthread` isn't being correctly linked.

This patch attempts to fix that problem by renaming and exporting
`LLVM_PTHREAD_LIB` as part of`LLVMConfig.cmake`. I renamed `PTHREAD_LIB`
because It seemed likely to cause collisions with downstream users of
`LLVMConfig.cmake`.

Rui Ueyama e9d17545bc TarWriter: Fix a bug in Ustar header.
If we split a filename into `Name` and `Prefix`, `Prefix` is at most
145 bytes. We had a bug that didn't split a path correctly. This bug
was pointed out by Rafael in the post commit review.

This patch adds a unit test for TarWriter to verify the fix.

Pavel Labath 08c2e86802 Simplify format member detection in FormatVariadic
Summary:
This replaces the format member search, which was quite complicated, with a more
direct approach to detecting whether a class should be formatted using the
format-member method. Instead we use a special type llvm::format_adapter, which
every adapter must inherit from. Then the search can be simply implemented with
the is_base_of type trait.

Aside from the simplification, I like this way more because it makes it more
explicit that you are supposed to use this type only for adapter-like
formattings, and the other approach (format_provider overloads) should be used
as a default (a mistake I made when first trying to use this library).

The only slight change in behaviour here is that now choose the format-adapter
branch even if the format member invocation will fail to compile (e.g. because it is a
non-const member function and we are passing a const adapter), whereas
previously we would have gone on to search for format_providers for the type.
However, I think that is actually a good thing, as it probably means the
programmer did something wrong.

Pavel Labath fefefeb7f6 Improve format member detection in llvm::formatv
Summary:
The existing detection of a format member function has a couple of deficiencies:
- the member function does not get detected if one calls formatv with an lvalue,
  because the template parameter gets deduced as T&, which fails the is_class
  check.
- it also did not work if the function was called with a const variable because
  the template parameter would get deduced as const T&, again failing the
  is_class check.

This fixes the problem by stripping the references in the uses_format_member
template, to make sure the type is correctly detected as class. It also provides
specializations of the has_FormatMember template for const and non-const members
of the types in order to enable declaring the format member as a "const"
function. I have added tests that verify that formatv can be now called in these
scenarios. As some scenarios could not be verified at runtime (e.g. making sure
that calling a non-const format member on a const object does *not* compile), I
have also added some static_asserts which test the behaviour of the template
classes used internally by formatv().

Ivan Krasin 3dade419bf Use trigrams to speed up SpecialCaseList.
Summary:
it's often the case when the rules in the SpecialCaseList
are of the form hel.o*bar. That gives us a chance to build
trigram index to quickly discard 99% of inputs without
running a full regex. A similar idea was used in Google Code Search
as described in the blog post:
https://swtch.com/~rsc/regexp/regexp4.html

The check is defeated, if there's at least one regex
more complicated than that. In this case, all inputs
will go through the regex. That said, the real-world
rules are often simple or can be simplied. That considerably
speeds up compiling Chromium with CFI and UBSan.

As measured on Chromium's content_message_generator.cc:

before, CFI: 44 s
after, CFI: 23 s
after, CFI, no blacklist: 23 s (~1% slower, but 3 runs were unable to show the difference)
after, regular compilation to bitcode: 23 s

Zachary Turner 11db2642fb [Support] Introduce llvm::formatv() function.
This introduces a new type-safe general purpose formatting
library.  It provides compile-time type safety, does not require
a format specifier (since the type is deduced), and provides
mechanisms for extending the format capability to user defined
types, and overriding the formatting behavior for existing types.

This patch additionally adds documentation for the API to the
LLVM programmer's manual.

files may be kept together and reference each other with short position

Zachary Turner 5b2243e884 Resubmit "Add support for advanced number formatting."
This resubmits r284436 and r284437, which were reverted in
r284462 as they were breaking the AArch64 buildbot.

The breakage on AArch64 turned out to be a miscompile which is
still not fixed, but is actively tracked at llvm.org/pr30748.

This resubmission re-writes the code in a way so as to make the
miscompile not happen.

Benjamin Kramer aa48572b9d [Support] Fix AlignOf test on i386-linux.
On i386 alignof(double) = 8 is not the same as alignof(struct { double
}) = 4. This used to be not an issue because the old implementation
always measured alignment inside of structs. Wrap a dummy struct around
the test to avoid this issue.

Benjamin Kramer abe323ef8e [Support] Remove llvm::alignOf now that all uses are gone.
Also clean up the legacy hacks for AlignedCharArray. I'm keeping
LLVM_ALIGNAS alive for a bit longer because GCC 4.8.0 (which we still
support apparently) shipped a buggy alignas(). All other supported
compilers have a working alignas.

This is a resubmission of r284590. The mingw build should be fixed now. The
problem was we were matching time_t with _localtime_64s, which was incorrect on
_USE_32BIT_TIME_T systems. Instead I use localtime_s, which should always
evaluate to the correct function.

Pavel Labath 13b6a10e7b Add Chrono.h - std::chrono support header
Summary:
std::chrono mostly covers the functionality of llvm::sys::TimeValue and
lldb_private::TimeValue. This header adds a bit of utility functions and
typedefs, which make the usage of the library and porting code from TimeValues
easier.

Rationale:
- TimePoint typedef - precision of system_clock is implementation defined -
  using a well-defined precision helps maintain consistency between platforms,
  makes it interact better with existing TimeValue classes, and avoids cases
  there a time point is implicitly convertible to a specific precision on some
  platforms but not on others.
- system_clock::to_time_t only accepts time_points with the default system
  precision (even though time_t has only second precision on all platforms we
  support). To avoid the need for explicit casts, I have added a toTimeT()
  wrapper function. toTimePoint(time_t) was not strictly necessary, but I have
  added it for symmetry.

Zachary Turner 7cd0745c95 Resubmit "Add support for advanced number formatting."
This resubmits commits 284425 and r284428, which were reverted
in r284429 due to some infinite recursion caused by an incorrect
selection of function overloads.  Reproduced the failure on Linux
using GCC 4.8.4, and confirmed that with the new patch the tests
path on GCC as well as MSVC.  So hopefully this fixes everything.

Zachary Turner 99eef2d736 [Support] Add support for "advanced" number formatting.
raw_ostream has not afforded a lot of flexibility in terms of
how to format numbers when outputting.  Wrap this all up into
a set of low level helper functions that can be used to output
numbers with arbitrary precision, alignment, format, etc and
then update raw_ostream to use these functions.

This will be useful for upcoming improvements to llvm's string
formatting libraries, but are still useful independently.

Summary:
This will be used by ThinLTO to set the amount of backend
parallelism, which performs better when restricted to the number
of physical cores (on X86 at least, where getHostNumPhysicalCores is
currently defined). If not available this falls back to
thread::hardware_concurrency.

Note I didn't add to the thread class since that is a typedef to
std::thread where available.

Teresa Johnson 7943fecee8 Add interface to compute number of physical cores on host system
Summary:
For now I have only added support for x86_64 Linux, but other systems
can be added incrementally.

This is to be used for setting the default parallelism for ThinLTO
backends (instead of thread::hardware_concurrency which includes
hyperthreading and is too aggressive). I'll send this as a follow-on
patch, and it will fall back to hardware_concurrency when the new
getHostNumPhysicalCores returns -1 (when not supported for a given
host system).

I also added an interface to MemoryBuffer to force reading a file
as a stream - this is required for /proc/cpuinfo which is a special
file that looks like a normal file but appears to have 0 size.
The existing readers of this file in Host.cpp are reading the first
1024 or so bytes from it, because the necessary info is near the top.
But for the new functionality we need to be able to read the entire
file. I can go back and change the other readers to use the new

This should allow users of the library to get a range to iterate through
all the subcommands that are registered to the global parser. This
allows users to define subcommands in libraries that self-register to
have dispatch done at a different stage (like main). It allows for
writing code like the following:

    for (auto *S : cl::getRegisteredSubcommands()) {
      if (*S) {
	// Dispatch on S->getName().
      }
    }

This change also contains tests that show this usage pattern.

Zachary Turner 35377f88f5 [YAMLIO] Add the ability to map with context.
mapping a yaml field to an object in code has always been
a stateless operation.  You could still pass state by using the
`setContext` function of the YAMLIO object, but this represented
global state for the entire yaml input.  In order to have
context-sensitive state, it is necessary to pass this state in
at the granularity of an individual mapping.

This patch adds support for this type of context-sensitive state.
You simply pass an additional argument of type T to the
`mapRequired` or `mapOptional` functions, and provided you have
specialized a `MappingContextTraits<U, T>` class with the
appropriate mapping function, you can pass this context into
the mapping function.

Reid Kleckner 1a4398a198 Fix a real temp file leak in FileOutputBuffer
If we failed to commit the buffer but did not die to a signal, the temp
file would remain on disk on Windows. Having an open file mapping and
file handle prevents the file from being deleted. I am choosing not to
add an assertion of success on the temp file removal, since virus
scanners and other environmental things can often cause removal to fail
in real world tools.

Also fix more temp file leaks in unit tests.

Hubert Tong 01a2cb55f1 TrailingObjects::FixedSizeStorage constexpr fixes + tests
Summary:
This change fixes issues with `LLVM_CONSTEXPR` functions and
`TrailingObjects::FixedSizeStorage`. In particular, some of the
functions marked `LLVM_CONSTEXPR` used by `FixedSizeStorage` were not
implemented such that they evaluate successfully as part of a constant
expression despite constant arguments.

This change also implements a more traditional template-meta path to
accommodate MSVC, and adds unit tests for `FixedSizeStorage`.

Drive-by fix: the access control for members of `TrailingObjectsImpl` is
tightened.

Add unittest to {ARM | AArch64}TargetParser,and by the way correct problems as below:
1.Correct a incorrect indexing problem in AArch64TargetParser. The architecture enumeration
 is shared across ARM and AArch64 in original implementation.But In the code,I just used the
 index which was offset by the ARM, and this would index into the array incorrectly. To make
 AArch64 has its own arch enum,or we will do a lot of slowly iterating.
2.Correct a spelling error. The parameter of llvm::AArch64::getArchExtName.
3.Correct a writing mistake, in llvm::ARM::parseArchISA.

Lang Hames 5e51a2e31a [Support] Make ErrorAsOutParameter take an Error* rather than an Error&.
This allows ErrorAsOutParameter to work better with "optional" errors. For
example, consider a function where for certain input values it is known that
the function can't fail. This can now be written as:

Result foo(Arg X, Error *Err) {
  ErrorAsOutParameter EAO(Err);

  if (<Error Condition>) {
    if (Err)
      *Err = <report error>;
    else
      llvm_unreachable("Unexpected failure!");
  }
}

Rather than having to construct an ErrorAsOutParameter under every conditional
where Err is known to be non-null.
