This attribute may be attached to a function definition and instructs the backend to generate appropriate function entry/exit code so that
it can be used directly as an interrupt handler.
The IRET instruction, instead of the RET instruction, is used to return from interrupt or exception handlers. All registers, except for the EFLAGS register which is restored by the IRET instruction, are preserved by the compiler.
Any interruptible-without-stack-switch code must be compiled with -mno-red-zone since interrupt handlers can and will, because of the hardware design, touch
the red zone.
interrupt handler must be declared with a mandatory pointer argument:
struct interrupt_frame;
__attribute__ ((interrupt))
void f (struct interrupt_frame *frame) {
...
}
and user must properly define the structure the pointer pointing to.
exception handler:
The exception handler is very similar to the interrupt handler with a different mandatory function signature:
#ifdef __x86_64__
typedef unsigned long long int uword_t;
#else
typedef unsigned int uword_t;
#endif
struct interrupt_frame;
__attribute__ ((interrupt))
void f (struct interrupt_frame *frame, uword_t error_code) {
...
}
and compiler pops the error code off stack before the IRET instruction.
The exception handler should only be used for exceptions which push an error code and all other exceptions must use the interrupt handler.
The system will crash if the wrong handler is used.

By storing the instantiated expression back in the ParmVarDecl,
we remove the last need for separately storing the sub-expression
of a CXXDefaultArgExpr. This makes PCH/Modules merging quite
simple: CXXDefaultArgExpr records are serialized as references
to the ParmVarDecl, and we ignore redundant attempts to overwrite
the instantiated expression.
This has some extremely marginal impact on user-facing semantics.
However, the major effect is that it avoids IRGen errors about
conflicting definitions due to lambdas in the argument being
instantiated multiple times while sharing the same mangling.
It should also slightly improve memory usage and module file size.

When the condition in an if statement, while statement, or for loop is created
during template instantiation, it calls MakeFullExpr with only the condition
expression. However, when these conditions are created for non-templated
code in the Parser, an additional SourceLocation is passed to MakeFullExpr.
The impact of this was that non-dependent templated code could produce
diagnostics that the same code outside templates would not. Adding the missing
SourceLocation makes diagnostics consistent between templated and non-templated

The MS ABI emits a special default constructor closure thunk if a
default constructor has a weird calling convention or default arguments.
The MS ABI has a quirk: there can be only one such thunk because the
mangling scheme does not have room for distinct manglings. We must
raise a diagnostic in this eventuality.
N.B. MSVC sorta gets this right. Multiple default constructors result
in the default constructor closure getting emitted but they seem to
get confused by which default constructors are reasonable to reference
from the closure. We try to be a little more careful which results in

In Clang 3.7, we warned by default on all the cases that would change meaning
due to this change. In Clang 3.8, we will support only the new rules -- per
the request in N3922, this change is applied as a Defect Report against earlier
versions of the C++ standard.
This change is not entirely trivial, because for lambda init-captures we
previously did not track the difference between direct-list-initialization and
copy-list-initialization. The difference was not previously observable, because
the two forms of initialization always did the same thing (the elements of the
initializer list were always copy-initialized regardless of the initialization
style used for the init-capture).

Clang will now accept this valid C++11 code:
struct A { int field; };
struct B : A {
using A::field;
enum { TheSize = sizeof(field) };
};
Previously we would classify the 'field' reference as something other
than a field, and then forget to apply the C++11 rule to allow
non-static data member references in unevaluated contexts.
This usually arises in class templates that want to reference fields of
a dependent base in an unevaluated context outside of an instance
method. Such contexts do not allow references to 'this', so the only way
to access the field is with a using decl and an implicit member
reference.
llvm-svn: 250839
This reverts commit r250592.
It has issues around unevaluated contexts, like this:
template <class T> struct A { T i; };
template <class T>
struct B : A<T> {
using A<T>::i;
typedef decltype(i) U;
};
template struct B<int>;
llvm-svn: 250774
During the initial template parse for this code, 'member' is unresolved
and we don't know anything about it:
struct A { int member };
template <typename T>
struct B : public T {
using T::member;
static void f() {
(void)member; // Could be static or non-static.
}
};
template class B<A>;
The pattern declaration contains an UnresolvedLookupExpr rather than an
UnresolvedMemberExpr because `f` is static, and `member` should never be
a field. However, if the code is invalid, it may become a field, in
which case we should diagnose it.

Previously, our logic when taking the address of an overloaded function
would not consider enable_if attributes, so long as all of the enable_if
conditions on a given candidate were true. So, two functions with
identical signatures (one with enable_if attributes, the other without),
would be considered equally good overloads. If we were calling the
function instead of taking its address, then the function with enable_if

However, this makes it impossible for clang's headers to make use of

Let the keywordness of _Atomic float under certain circumstances:

Before we skipped that for virtual functions not fully qualified (r81507).

Clang used to silently ignore __declspec(novtable). It is implemented
now, but leaving the vtable uninitialized does not work when using the
Itanium ABI, where the class layout for complex class hierarchies is
stored in the vtable. It might be possible to honor the novtable
attribute in some simple cases and either report an error or ignore
it in more complex situations, but it’s not clear if that would be
worthwhile. There is also value in having a simple and predictable
behavior, so this changes clang to simply ignore novtable when not using
the Microsoft C++ ABI.

If a lambda used as default argument in a method declaration contained

In the test, y1 is not reference compatible to y2 and we currently assume
the cast is ill-formed so we emit a diagnostic. Instead, in order to honour
the standard, if y1 it's not reference-compatible to y2 then it can't be
converted using a static_cast, and a reinterpret_cast should be tried instead.
Richard Smith provided the correct interpretation of the standard and
explanation about the subtle difference between "can't be cast" and "the cast
is ill-formed". The former applies in this case.

This patch fixes a crash caused by the following case:
template<typename T>
auto f(T x) {
auto g = [](auto ... args) {
auto h = [args...]() -> int {
return 0;
};
return h;
};
return g;
}
auto x = f(0)();
When the templated function 'f' is instantiated and the inner-most
lambda is transformed the ellipsis location on the captured variable
is lost. Then the lambda returned by 'f' is instantiated and the
tree transformer chokes on the invalid ellipsis location. The
problem is fixed by making a minor change to properly track the
ellipsis location.

In certain cases, the tree transform would introduce new TypoExprs while
trying one of the corrections, invalidating the unique_ptr in the state
reference, and also causing a TypoExpr to exist that will never be
corrected since it doesn't exist in the final corrected expression. The
simple solution to both problems is to temporarily disable typo
correction while handling potentially ambiguous typo corrections.

Summary:
This patch reduces duplication in the template argument deduction code
for handling deduction from initializer lists in a function call. This
extends the fix for PR12119 to also apply to the case where the
corresponding parameter is a trailing parameter pack.
Test Plan:
A test for deduction from nested initializer lists where the
corresponding parameter is a trailing parameter pack is added in
`clang/test/SemaCXX/cxx0x-initializer-stdinitializerlist.cpp`.

Addresses a conflict with glibc's __nonnull macro by renaming the type
nullability qualifiers as follows:
__nonnull -> _Nonnull
__nullable -> _Nullable
__null_unspecified -> _Null_unspecified
This is the major part of rdar://problem/21530726, but does not yet
provide the Darwin-specific behavior for the old names.
llvm-svn: 240596
This generalizes the checking of null arguments to also work with
values of pointer-to-function, reference-to-function, and block
pointer type, using the nullability information within the underling
function prototype to extend non-null checking, and diagnoses returns
of 'nil' within a function with a __nonnull return type.
Note that we don't warn about nil returns from Objective-C methods,
because it's common for Objective-C methods to mimic the nil-swallowing
behavior of the receiver by checking ostensibly non-null parameters
and returning nil from otherwise non-null methods in that
case.
It also diagnoses (via a separate flag) conversions from nullable to
nonnull pointers. It's a separate flag because this warning can be noisy.
llvm-svn: 240153
Introduces the type specifiers __nonnull, __nullable, and
__null_unspecified that describe the nullability of the pointer type
to which the specifier appertains. Nullability type specifiers improve
on the existing nonnull attributes in a few ways:
- They apply to types, so one can represent a pointer to a non-null
pointer, use them in function pointer types, etc.
- As type specifiers, they are syntactically more lightweight than
__attribute__s or [[attribute]]s.
- They can express both the notion of 'should never be null' and
also 'it makes sense for this to be null', and therefore can more
easily catch errors of omission where one forgot to annotate the
nullability of a particular pointer (this will come in a subsequent
patch).
Nullability type specifiers are maintained as type sugar, and
therefore have no effect on mangling, encoding, overloading,
etc. Nonetheless, they will be used for warnings about, e.g., passing
'null' to a method that does not accept it.
This is the C/C++ part of rdar://problem/18868820.

fillAttributedTypeLoc() function is only called with AttributeLists of either
DeclarationChunk (which is used for each type in a declarator being parsed) or
DeclSpec (which captures information about declaration specifiers).
As C++11 attributes actually appertain to declarators, they are moved straight

'Put them wherever you like' semantics is not supported for C++11 attributes

Previously we'd try to perform checks on the captures from the middle of
parsing the lambda's body, at the point where we detected that a variable
needed to be captured. This was wrong in a number of subtle ways. In
PR23334, we couldn't correctly handle the list of potential odr-uses
resulting from the capture, and our attempt to recover from that resulted
in a use-after-free.
We now defer building the initialization expression until we leave the lambda
body and return to the enclosing context, where the initialization does the
right thing. This patch only covers lambda-expressions, but we should apply

r235046 turned "extern __declspec(selectany) int a;" from a declaration into
a definition to fix PR23242 (required for compatibility with mc.exe output).
However, this broke parsing Windows headers: A d3d11 headers contain something
like
struct SomeStruct {};
extern const __declspec(selectany) SomeStruct some_struct;
This is now a definition, and const objects either need an explicit default
ctor or an initializer so this errors out with
d3d11.h(1065,48) :
error: default initialization of an object of const type
'const CD3D11_DEFAULT' without a user-provided default constructor
(cl.exe just doesn't implement this rule, independent of selectany.)
To work around this, weaken this error into a warning for selectany decls
in microsoft mode, and recover with zero-initialization.
Doing this is a bit hairy since it adds a fixit on an error emitted
by InitializationSequence – this means it needs to build a correct AST, which
in turn means InitializationSequence::Failed() cannot return true when this
fixit is applied. As a workaround, the patch adds a fixit member to
InitializationSequence, and InitializationSequence::Perform() prints the
diagnostic if the fixit member is set right after its call to Diagnose.
That function is usually called when InitializationSequences are used –
InitListChecker::PerformEmptyInit() doesn't call it, but the InitListChecker
case never performs default-initialization, so this is technically OK.
This is the alternative, original fix for PR20208 that got reviewed in the
thread "[patch] Improve diagnostic on default-initializing const variables

The previous implementation would copy the attribute from the class to
functions that have the class as their return type when the functions
are first declared. This proved to have two flaws:
1) if the class is forward-declared without the attribute and a
function or method with the class as a its return type is declared,
and afterward the class is defined with warn_unused_result, the
function or method would never inherit the attribute, and
2) the check simply failed for functions and methods that are part of
a template instantiation, regardless of whether the class with
warn_unused_result is part of a specific instantiation or part of
the template itself (presumably because those function/method
declaration does not hit the same code path as a non-template one
and so never inherits the attribute).
The new approach is to instead modify the two places where a function or
method call is checked for the warn_unused_result attribute on the decl
by extending the checks to also look for the attribute on the decl's
return type.
Additionally, the check for return types that have the warn_unused_result
now excludes pointers and references to such types, as such return types do
not necessarily imply a transfer of ownership for the underlying object
being referred to by the return value. This does not change the behavior
of functions that are directly given the warn_unused_result attribute.

attempted to iterate it. However, the GNU extension (which is really

Handle this by desugaring the call to the explicit operator.
For example:
"qux" _zombocom will be shown as
operator "" _zombocom<char, 'q', 'u', 'x'>() in diagnostics and AST

N.B. It is actually impossible to render the arguments back to the
source form without storing more information in the AST. For example,
we cannot tell if the user wrote u8"qux" or "qux". We also lose
fidelity when it comes to non-char types for this exact reason (e.g. it

ParsePostfixExpressionSuffix() then calls ParseOptionalCXXScopeSpecifier() and

view (due to a lack of '~' sigil). However, ParseOptionalCXXScopeSpecifier()
