David Blaikie 401bb64b31 Remove an unnecessary use of pointee types introduced in r194220
David Majnemer (the original author) believes this to be an impossible
condition to reach anyway, and no test cases cover this so we'll go with
that.

David Blaikie 473b943ea8 Refix a use of explicit pointer types in GEP constant folding
In the glorious future of opaque pointer types, it won't be possible to
retrieve the pointee type of a pointer type which is what's being done
in this GEP loop - but the first iteration is always a pointer type and
the loop doesn't care about that case, except whether or not the index
is a constant.

So pull that special case out before the loop and start at the second
iteration (index 1) instead.

Originally committed in r236670 and reverted with a test case in
r239015. This change keeps the test case working while also avoiding
depending on pointee types.

Pawel Bylica c25918a043 Constfold insertelement to undef when index is out-of-bounds
Summary:
This patch adds constant folding of insertelement instruction to undef value when index operand is constant and is not less than vector size or is undef.

InstCombine does not support this case, but I'm happy to add it there also if this change is accepted.

Test Plan: Unittests and regression tests for ConstProp pass.

David Blaikie 4a2e73b066 [opaque pointer type] API migration for GEP constant factories
Require the pointee type to be passed explicitly and assert that it is
correct. For now it's possible to pass nullptr here (and I've done so in
a few places in this patch) but eventually that will be disallowed once
all clients have been updated or removed. It'll be a long road to get
all the way there... but if you have the cahnce to update your callers
to pass the type explicitly without depending on a pointer's element
type, that would be a good thing to do soon and a necessary thing to do
eventually.

Hal Finkel cd5553ed39 [ConstantFold] Don't fold ppc_fp128 <-> int bitcasts
PPC_FP128 is really the sum of two consecutive doubles, where the first double
is always stored first in memory, regardless of the target endianness. The
memory layout of i128, however, depends on the target endianness, and so we
can't fold this without target endianness information. As a result, we must not
do this folding in lib/IR/ConstantFold.cpp (it could be done instead in
Analysis/ConstantFolding.cpp, but that's not done now).

Fixes PR23026.

Sanjay Patel ad8b666624 Return undef on FP <-> Int conversions that overflow (PR21330).
The LLVM Lang Ref states for signed/unsigned int to float conversions:
"If the value cannot fit in the floating point value, the results are undefined."

And for FP to signed/unsigned int:
"If the value cannot fit in ty2, the results are undefined."

This matches the C definitions.

The existing behavior pins to infinity or a max int value, but that may just
lead to more confusion as seen in:
http://llvm.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=21130

Returning undef will hopefully lead to a less silent failure.

Duncan P. N. Exon Smith 0c39d40c8b IR: Don't add inbounds to GEPs of extern_weak variables
Global variables that have `extern_weak` linkage may be null, so it's
incorrect to add `inbounds` when constant folding.

This also fixes a bug when parsing global aliases, whose forward
reference placeholders are global variables with `extern_weak` linkage.
If GEPs to these aliases are encountered before the alias itself, the
GEPs would incorrectly gain the `inbounds` keyword as well.

Jingyue Wu baabe5091c Canonicalize addrspacecast ConstExpr between different pointer types

David Majnemer bd4fef4a89 IR: Do not canonicalize constant GEPs into an out-of-bounds array access
Summary:
Consider a GEP of:
i8* getelementptr ({ [2 x i8], i32, i8, [3 x i8] }* @main.c, i32 0, i32 0, i64 0)

If we proceeded to GEP the aforementioned object by 8, would form a GEP of:
i8* getelementptr ({ [2 x i8], i32, i8, [3 x i8] }* @main.c, i32 0, i32 0, i64 8)

Note that we would go through the first array member, causing an
out-of-bounds accesses. This is problematic because we might get fooled
if we are trying to evaluate loads using this GEP, for example, based
off of an object with a constant initializer where the array is zero.

This fixes PR17732.

Meador Inge 9b47f6414b IR: Don't constant fold GEP bitcasts between different address spaces
PR15262 reported a bug where the following instruction:

  i8 getelementptr inbounds i8* bitcast ([4 x i8] addrspace(12)* @buf to i8*),
                                i32 2

was getting folded into:

  addrspace(12)* getelementptr inbounds ([4 x i8] addrspace(12)* @buf, i32 0,
                                        i32 2)

This caused instcombine to crash because the original instruction and
the folded instruction have different types. The issue was fixed by
disallowing bitcasts between different address spaces to be folded away.
