Daniel Dunbar 776fe8db5f Reimplement TargetMachineRegistry in terms of TargetRegistry.
- This is a temporary hack to aid in incremental refactoring, for now we
   allocate a new TargetMachineRegistryEntry on every getClosest... call.

 - No intended functionality change, other than the leaked memory.

Daniel Dunbar 078a71e4a9 Add new TargetRegistry.
Targets implement a single global Target structure which will live in a new
<Target>/TargetInfo library; this will be present in any image which the target
is usable in.
 - Optional target specific classes can then be registered and attached to the
   Target description.

 - Registration for normal Targets will be done via the initialization functions
   instead of using static constructors.

 - This allows clients to use a single interface to obtain target data, without
   requiring the code generator be linked in. It also provides a natural
   extension point for adding new optional target data (assembler parser,
   disassembler, etc.).

 - This also provides a new entry point for obtaining a target for a particular
   triple (without a module).

 - Not yet used, however this should eventually replace the TargetMachineRegistry.

Torok Edwin 8f2906a2e8 Introduce a pointertracking pass.
For now this only computes the allocated size of the memory pointed to by a
pointer, and offset a pointer from allocated pointer.
The actual checkLimits part will come later, after another round of review.

Chris Lattner 8c9a96b966 Reapply my previous asmprinter changes now with more testing and two
additional bug fixes:

1. The bug that everyone hit was a problem in the asmprinter where it
   would remove $stub but keep the L prefix on a name when emitting the
   indirect symbol.  This is easy to fix by keeping the name of the stub
   and the name of the symbol in a StringMap instead of just keeping a
   StringSet and trying to reconstruct it late.

2. There was a problem printing the personality function.  The current
   logic to print out the personality function from the DWARF information
   is a bit of a cesspool right now that duplicates a bunch of other 
   logic in the asm printer.  The short version of it is that it depends
   on emitting both the L and _ prefix for symbols (at least on darwin)
   and until I can untangle it, it is best to switch the mangler back to
   emitting both prefixes.

Torok Edwin fbcc663cbf llvm_unreachable->llvm_unreachable(0), LLVM_UNREACHABLE->llvm_unreachable.
This adds location info for all llvm_unreachable calls (which is a macro now) in
!NDEBUG builds.
In NDEBUG builds location info and the message is off (it only prints
"UREACHABLE executed").

Torok Edwin 1ab40bef8d After converting assert(0) to LLVM_UNREACHABLE we lost file/line location.
Fix by making the LLVM_UNREACHABLE pass __FILE__ and __LINE__ to

Chris Lattner 774f2a2d51 Change the X86 asmprinter to use the mangler to apply suffixes like "$non_lazy_ptr"
to symbols instead of doing it with "printSuffixedName".  This gets us to the point
where there is a real separation between computing a symbol name and printing it,
something I need for MC printer stuff.

This patch also fixes a corner case bug where unnamed private globals wouldn't get
the private label prefix.

Next up, rename all uses of getValueName -> getMangledName for better greppability,
and then tackle the ppc/arm backends to eliminate "printSuffixedName".

Chris Lattner f34815b32f Change the internal interface to makeNameProper to take a bool that
indicates whether the label is private or not, instead of taking
prefix stuff.  One effect of this is that symbols will be generated
with *just* the private prefix, instead of both the private prefix
*and* the user-label-prefix, but this doesn't matter as long as it
is consistent.  For example we'll now get "Lfoo" instead of "L_foo".
These are just assembler temporary labels anyway, so they never even
make it into the .o file.

Dan Gohman 6f6d864815 Introduce a new LoopInfo utility function makeLoopInvariant, which
works similar to isLoopInvariant, except that it will do trivial
hoisting to try to make the value loop invariant if it isn't already.
This makes it easier for transformation passes to clear trivial
instructions out of the way (the regular LICM pass doesn't run
until relatively late). This is code factored out of LoopSimplify
and other places.

Chris Lattner 105efaf3df rename Memo/Count to AnonGlobalIDs/NextAnonGlobalID to be more
descriptive.  Thange them to keep track of the ID of a global that is
assigned, not the first mangled name returned for it.  Without doing this,
we are required to always use the same suffix for a global that gets 
mangled.  This means that we can mangle the same global once with $stub
and another time with $non_lazy_ptr or whatever.

Dan Gohman 80a9942593 Move isLCSSAForm, isLoopInvariant, getCanonicalInductionVariable,
and related functions out of LoopBase and into Loop, since they
are specific to BasicBlock-based loops. This also allows the code
to be moved out-of-line.

Dan Gohman cc85ae132c Make Loop and MachineLoop be subclasses of LoopBase, rather than typedefs,
using the Curiously Recurring Template Pattern with LoopBase.

This will help further refactoring, and future functionality for
Loop. Also, Headers can now foward-declare Loop, instead of pulling
in LoopInfo.h or doing tricks.

David Greene de54478bf0 Add infrastructure to allow post instruction printing action triggers.
We'll eventually use this to print comments in asm files and do other
fun things.

This adds interfaces to the AsmPrinter and changes TableGen to invoke
the postInstructionAction when appropriate.  It also add parameters to
TargetAsmInfo to control comment layout.

Owen Anderson 53a52215b5 Begin the painful process of tearing apart the rat'ss nest that is Constants.cpp and ConstantFold.cpp.
This involves temporarily hard wiring some parts to use the global context.  This isn't ideal, but it's
the only way I could figure out to make this process vaguely incremental.

Chris Lattner 7b9d6ebb9c remove llvm.part.set.* and llvm.part.select.*. They have never been
implemented in codegen, have no frontend to generate them, and are 
better implemented with pattern matching (like the ppc backend does
to generate rlwimi/rlwinm etc).

Nick Lewycky dcfdce9067 Move a method that creates constant ranges relative to another constant range
per icmp predicate out of predsimplify and into ConstantRange.

Add another utility method that determines whether one range is a subset of
another. Combine with the former to determine whether icmp pred range, range
is known to be true or not.

library to tell it the addresses of JITted functions.  For a

Ted Kremenek 2be6797ead ImmutableMap/ImmutableSet: Allow caching of ImutAVLTree digests while the tree
is still mutable. My experiments show this reduces the amount of times we
compute a full tree digest by over 50% on very small cases, and potentially much
larger on others.

Dan Gohman 5035fbf91c Add a ConstantSignedRange class, which does for signed integers
what ConstantRange does for unsigned integers. Factor out a
common base class for common functionality.

Add some new functions for performing arithmetic on constant
ranges. Some of these are currently just stubbed out with
conservative implementations.

Add unittests for ConstantRange and ConstantSignedRange.

Eli Friedman 2b77eef160 Make EXTRACT_VECTOR_ELT a bit more flexible in terms of the returned
value.  Adjust other code to deal with that correctly.  Make 
DAGTypeLegalizer::PromoteIntRes_EXTRACT_VECTOR_ELT take advantage of 
this new flexibility to simplify the code and make it deal with unusual 
vectors (like <4 x i1>) correctly.  Fixes PR3037.

David Greene 4417b4c80b Add support for other GraphViz display tools. This can help
with very large graphs, where dot isn't necessarily the 
most visually pleasing way of looking at the graph.

Evan Cheng 7452c968e4 Targets sometimes assign fixed stack object to spill certain callee-saved
registers based on dynamic conditions. For example, X86 EBP/RBP, when used as
frame register has to be spilled in the first fixed object. It should inform
PEI this so it doesn't get allocated another stack object. Also, it should not
be spilled as other callee-saved registers but rather its spilling and restoring
are being handled by emitPrologue and emitEpilogue. Avoid spilling it twice.

Lang Hames dab7b06de9 Improved tracking of value number kills. VN kills are now represented
as an (index,bool) pair. The bool flag records whether the kill is a
PHI kill or not. This code will be used to enable splitting of live
intervals containing PHI-kills.

A slight change to live interval weights introduced an extra spill
into lsr-code-insertion (outside the critical sections). The test 
condition has been updated to reflect this.

Jeffrey Yasskin 70415d97a8 Add an option to allocate JITed global data separately from code. By
default, this option is not enabled to support clients who rely on
this behavior.

Dan Gohman dc19104267 Make the code that updates ScalarEvolution's internal state in response
to a loop deletion more thorough. Don't prune the def-use tree search at
instructions that don't have SCEVs computed, because an instruction with
a user that has a computed SCEV may itself lack a computed SCEV.  Also,
remove loop-related values from the ValuesAtScopes and
ConstantEvolutionLoopExitValues maps as well.

This fixes a regression in 483.xalancbmk.

Chris Lattner 4ac607332d dag combine sext(setcc) -> vsetcc before legalize. To make this safe,
VSETCC must define all bits, which is different than it was documented
to before.  Since all targets that implement VSETCC already have this
behavior, and we don't optimize based on this, just change the 
documentation.  We now get nice code for vec_compare.ll

not 64, because we read at most 32 bits at a time.  OTOH, "Result" must

uint8_t (via 'foo & 255'), i replaced this with an explicit (uint8_t)
cast which is equivalent, faster and more correct (silences

Chris Lattner 3612256e2e Eliminate the static constructors and locks from DynamicLibrary.cpp.
This fixes PR4512 and eliminating static ctors is always good.  Losing
thread safety is unfortunate, but the code is just incredibly poorly
designed.

If someone is interested, the "right" solution is to split
DynamicLibrary.cpp into two separate pieces: a stateless piece in
libsystem, and a simple support file in libsupport that has the
"state" (e.g.  AddSymbol) in managed static objects.

Doing this would both fix memory leaks we already have, as well as make
the code thread safe again.  it would also make sense to move all the
unix specific code in System/DynamicLibrary.cpp into 
System/Unix/DynamicLibrary.inc.

Some FP registers were not marked as volatile.
Make sure the i64 words from a long double are passed either both in registers or both on the stack.

Tilmann Scheller aea6059ed4 Add NumFixedArgs attribute to CallSDNode which indicates the number of fixed arguments in a vararg call.
With the SVR4 ABI on PowerPC, vector arguments for vararg calls are passed differently depending on whether they are a fixed or a variable argument. Variable vector arguments always go into memory, fixed vector arguments are put 
into vector registers. If there are no free vector registers available, fixed vector arguments are put on the stack.

The NumFixedArgs attribute allows to decide for an argument in a vararg call whether it belongs to the fixed or variable portion of the parameter list.

Evan Cheng 2a5efe14a7 Remove special handling of implicit_def. Fix a couple more bugs in liveintervalanalysis and coalescer handling of implicit_def.
Note, isUndef marker must be placed even on implicit_def def operand or else the scavenger will not ignore it. This is necessary because -O0 path does not use liveintervalanalysis, it treats implicit_def just like any other def.

Evan Cheng 0dc101b897 Add a bit IsUndef to MachineOperand. This indicates the def / use register operand is defined by an implicit_def. That means it can def / use any register and passes (e.g. register scavenger) can feel free to ignore them.
The register allocator, when it allocates a register to a virtual register defined by an implicit_def, can allocate any physical register without worrying about overlapping live ranges. It should mark all of operands of the said virtual register so later passes will do the right thing.

This is not the best solution. But it should be a lot less fragile to having the scavenger try to track what is defined by implicit_def.

Dan Gohman c8ca49659a Teach LoopSimplify how to merge multiple loop exits into a single exit,
when one of them can be converted to a trivial icmp and conditional
branch.

This addresses what is essentially a phase ordering problem.
SimplifyCFG knows how to do this transformation, but it doesn't do so
if the primary block has any instructions in it other than an icmp and
a branch. In the given testcase, the block contains other instructions,
however they are loop-invariant and can be hoisted. SimplifyCFG doesn't
have LoopInfo though, so it can't hoist them. And, it's important that
the blocks be merged before LoopRotation, as it doesn't support
multiple-exit loops.

Dan Gohman daafbe6168 Incorporate the insertion point into the key of SCEVExpander's CSE map.
This helps it avoid reusing an instruction that doesn't dominate all
of the users, in cases where the original instruction was inserted
before all of the users were known.  This may result in redundant
expansions of sub-expressions that depend on loop-unpredictable values
in some cases, however this isn't very common, and it primarily impacts
IndVarSimplify, so GVN can be expected to clean these up.

This eliminates the need for IndVarSimplify's FixUsesBeforeDefs,
which fixes several bugs.

Chris Lattner bc60c14c97 fix a really subtle bug in the cross section of aliases and TLS:
the SelectionDAG::getGlobalAddress function properly looks through
aliases to determine thread-localness, but then passes the GV* down
to GlobalAddressSDNode::GlobalAddressSDNode which does not.  Instead
of passing down isTarget, just pass down the predetermined node
opcode.  This fixes some assertions with out of tree changes I'm 
working on.

Mikhail Glushenkov 674207eed2 Make -save-temps behave like in GCC 4.5.
The -save-temps option now behaves like described in GCC 4.5 release notes
(you can specify output directory for temporary files with -save-temps=obj
-o $DIRNAME). I do not have GCC 4.5 installed, so if there are any
inconsistencies between llvmc and GCC in the implementation of this
feature, please let me know.

Jeffrey Yasskin 0b08f3d7cc Add a JITEventListener interface that gets called back when a new function is
emitted or the machine code for a function is freed.  Chris mentioned that we
may also want a notification when a stub is emitted, but that'll be a future
change.  I intend to use this to tell oprofile where functions are emitted and

David Greene 08d3ac17f0 Increase limit for OpActions array
The OpActions array had a limit of 32 value types, so change it to use
MVT::MAX_ALLOWED_VALUETYPE in its declaration and change the accesses to
this array to work with a VT.getSimpleVT() that is larger than 32.

Also, add a comment to the place where MVT::MAX_ALLOWED_VALUETYPE is
defined indicating that it must be a multiple of 32.

This is part of the work allow MVT::LAST_VALUETYPE be greater than 32.

David Greene 30048bdb63 This increases the maximum for MVT::LAST_VALUETYPE
This change doubles the allowable value for MVT::LAST_VALUETYPE. It does
this by doing several things.

1. Introduces MVT::MAX_ALLOWED_LAST_VALUETYPE which in this change has a
value of 64.  This value contains the current maximum for the
MVT::LAST_VALUETYPE.

2. Instead of checking "MVT::LAST_VALUETYPE <= 32", all of those uses
now become "MVT::LAST_VALUETYPE <= MVT::MAX_ALLOWED_LAST_VALUETYPE"

3. Changes the dimension of the ValueTypeActions from 2 elements to four
elements and adds comments ahead of the declaration indicating the it is
"(MVT::MAX_ALLOWED_LAST_VALUETYPE/32) * 2".  This at least lets us find
what is affected if and when MVT::MAX_ALLOWED_LAST_VALUETYPE gets
changed.

4. Adds initializers for the new elements of ValueTypeActions.

This does NOT add any types in MVT. That would be done separately.

This doubles the size of ValueTypeActions from 64 bits to 128 bits and
gives us the freedom to add more types for AVX.

Dan Gohman f19aeec3f5 Extend ScalarEvolution's multiple-exit support to compute exact
trip counts in more cases.

Generalize ScalarEvolution's isLoopGuardedByCond code to recognize
And and Or conditions, splitting the code out into an
isNecessaryCond helper function so that it can evaluate Ands and Ors
recursively, and make SCEVExpander be much more aggressive about
hoisting instructions out of loops.

test/CodeGen/X86/pr3495.ll has an additional instruction now, but
it appears to be due to an arbitrary register allocation difference.

Chris recently broke llvmc with his Makefile changes (r75379). That patch made
the global change .o -> .a, which caused built-in llvmc plugins to stop working
since plugin initialization in llvmc is based on static variables not referenced
from the main executable. This patch implements auto-generated forced references
to the plugin libraries.

Owen Anderson 86837616f7 Banish global state from ScalarEvolution! SCEV uniquing is now done by tables attached to the ScalarEvolution pass.
This also throws out the SCEV reference counting scheme, as the the SCEVs now have a lifetime controlled by the
ScalarEvolution pass.

Note that SCEVHandle is now a no-op, and will be remove in a future commit.

Owen Anderson 0d2de8c35e Revert r73790, and replace it with a significantly less ugly solution. Rather than trying to make the global reader-writer lock work,
create separate recursive mutexes for each value map.  The recursive-ness fixes the double-acquiring issue, which having one per ValueMap
lets us continue to maintain some concurrency.

Dan Gohman c702fc0e64 Make GetMinTrailingZeros a member function of ScalarEvolution,
so that it can access the TargetData member (when available) and
use ValueTracking.h information to compute information for
SCEVUnknown Values.

Also add GetMinLeadingZeros and GetMinSignBits functions,
with minimal implementations.

Owen Anderson b07dd959a4 Fix a serious bug that would cause deadlock during abstract type refinement. The constant creation
gets involved, and we end up trying to recursively acquire a writer lock.  The fix for this is slightly horrible,
and involves passing a boolean "locked" parameter around in Constants.cpp, but it's better than having locked and
unlocked versions of most of the code.

Chris Lattner 3235c38dbb Add some scaffolding for a new experimental asmprinter
implementation.  The idea is that we want asmprinting to
work by converting MachineInstrs into a new MCInst class,
then the per-instruction asmprinter works on MCInst.  MCInst
and the new asmprinters will not depend on most of the 
llvm code generators.  This allows building diassemblers
that don't link in the whole llvm code generator.  This is
step #1 of many.

Chris Lattner 8284b66264 merge the common darwin settings from the X86/PPC/ARM targets
into DarwinTargetAsmInfo.cpp.  The remaining differences should
be evaluated.  It seems strange that x86/arm has .zerofill but ppc
doesn't, etc.
