Kousik Kumar fb042b094f Refactor DependencyScanningTool to its own file
Summary:
There's no behavior change - just moving DependencyScanningTool to its own file
since this tool can be reused across both clang-scan-deps binary and an interface
exposed as part of libClang APIs.

Sergey Dmitriev 5836c356fa [Clang][OpenMP Offload] Move offload registration code to the wrapper
The final list of OpenMP offload targets becomes known only at the link time and since offload registration code depends on the targets list it makes sense to delay offload registration code generation to the link time instead of adding it to the host part of every fat object. This patch moves offload registration code generation from clang to the offload wrapper tool.

Michal Gorny f89e758d88 [clang] [clang-offload-bundler] Fix finding installed llvm-objcopy
Allow finding installed llvm-objcopy in PATH if it's not present
in the directory containing clang-offload-bundler. This is the case
if clang is being built stand-alone, and llvm-objcopy is already
installed while the c-o-b tool is still present in build directory.

This is consistent with how e.g. llvm-symbolizer is found in LLVM.
However, most of similar searches in LLVM and Clang are performed
without special-casing the program directory.

Paul Hoad 1f20bc17d0 [clang-format] Proposal for clang-format to give compiler style warnings
Summary:
Related somewhat to {D29039}

On seeing a quote on twitter by @invalidop

> If it's not formatted with clang-format it's a build error.

This made me want to change the way I use clang-format into a tool that could optionally show me where my source code violates clang-format syle.

When I'm making a change to clang-format itself, one thing I like to do to test the change is to ensure I didn't cause a huge wave of changes, what I want to do is simply run this on a known formatted directory and see if any new differences arrive in a manner I'm used to.

This started me thinking that we should allow build systems to run clang-format on a whole tree and emit compiler style warnings about files that fail clang-format in a form that would make them as a warning in most build systems and because those build systems range in their construction I don't think its unreasonable to NOT expect them to have to do the directory searching or parsing the output replacements themselves, but simply transform that into an error code when there are changes required.

I am starting this by suggesing adding a -n or -dry-run command line argument which would emit a warning/error of the form

Support for various common compiler command line argumuments like '-Werror' and '-ferror-limit' could make this very flexible to be integrated into build systems and CI systems.

```
> $ /usr/bin/clang-format --dry-run ClangFormat.cpp -ferror-limit=3 -fcolor-diagnostics
> ClangFormat.cpp:54:29: warning: code should be clang-formatted [-Wclang-format-violations]
> static cl::list<std::string>
>                             ^
> ClangFormat.cpp:55:20: warning: code should be clang-formatted [-Wclang-format-violations]
> LineRanges("lines", cl::desc("<start line>:<end line> - format a range of\n"
>                    ^
> ClangFormat.cpp:55:77: warning: code should be clang-formatted [-Wclang-format-violations]
> LineRanges("lines", cl::desc("<start line>:<end line> - format a range of\n"
>                                                                             ^
Sergey Dmitriev a0d83768f1 [Clang][OpenMP Offload] Add new tool for wrapping offload device binaries
This patch removes the remaining part of the OpenMP offload linker scripts which was used for inserting device binaries into the output linked binary. Device binaries are now inserted into the host binary with a help of the wrapper bit-code file which contains device binaries as data. Wrapper bit-code file is dynamically created by the clang driver with a help of new tool clang-offload-wrapper which takes device binaries as input and produces bit-code file with required contents. Wrapper bit-code is then compiled to an object and resulting object is appended to the host linking by the clang driver.
This is the second part of the patch for eliminating OpenMP linker script (please see https://reviews.llvm.org/D64943).
clang-offload-bundler currently uses partial linking for creating fat object files, but such technique cannot be used on Windows due to the absence of partial linking support in the linker. This patch changes implementation to use llvm-objcopy for merging device and host objects instead of doing partial linking. This is one step forward towards enabling OpenMP offload on Windows.
Richard Smith 26a92d5852 Improve behavior in the case of stack exhaustion.
Summary:
Clang performs various recursive operations (such as template instantiation),
and may use non-trivial amounts of stack space in each recursive step (for
instance, due to recursive AST walks). While we try to keep the stack space
used by such steps to a minimum and we have explicit limits on the number of
such steps we perform, it's impractical to guarantee that we won't blow out the
stack on deeply recursive template instantiations on complex ASTs, even with
only a moderately high instantiation depth limit.
The user experience in these cases is generally terrible: we crash with
no hint of what went wrong. Under this patch, we attempt to do better:
 * Detect when the stack is nearly exhausted, and produce a warning with a
   nice template instantiation backtrace, telling the user that we might
   run slowly or crash.
 * For cases where we're forced to trigger recursive template
   instantiation in arbitrarily-deeply-nested contexts, check whether
   we're nearly out of stack space and allocate a new stack (by spawning
   a new thread) after producing the warning.
Summary:
This patch introduces a new `analyzer-config` configuration:
`-analyzer-config silence-checkers`
which could be used to silence the given checkers.
It accepts a semicolon separated list, packed into quotation marks, e.g:
`-analyzer-config silence-checkers="core.DivideZero;core.NullDereference"`
It could be used to "disable" core checkers, so they model the analysis as
before, just if some of them are too noisy it prevents to emit reports.
This patch also adds support for that new option to the scan-build.
Passing the option `-disable-checker core.DivideZero` to the scan-build
will be transferred to `-analyzer-config silence-checkers=core.DivideZero`.
Alexey Bataev 4fb80d56db [Driver][Bundler] Improve bundling of object files.
Summary:
Previously, object files were bundled using partial linking. It resulted
in the following structure of the bundled objects:
```
<host_code>
clang-offload-bundle
__CLANG_OFFLOAD_BUNDLE__<target>
<target_code>
```
But when we tried to unbundle object files, it worked correctly only for
the target objects. The host object remains bundled. It produced a lot of
junk sections in the host object files and in some cases may caused
incorrect linking.
Patch improves bundling of the object files. After this patch the
bundled object looks like this:
```
<host_code>
clang-offload-bundle
__CLANG_OFFLOAD_BUNDLE__<target>
<target_code>
__CLANG_OFFLOAD_BUNDLE__<host>
<host_code>
```
With this structure we are able to unbundle the host object files too so
that after unbundling they are the same as were before.
The host section is bundled twice. The bundled section is used to
unbundle the original host section.
Richard Sandiford eb485fbc71 Add SVE opaque built-in types
This patch adds the SVE built-in types defined by the Procedure Call
Standard for the Arm Architecture:
   https://developer.arm.com/docs/100986/0000
It handles the types in all relevant places that deal with built-in types.
At the moment, some of these places bail out with an error, including:
   (1) trying to generate LLVM IR for the types
   (2) trying to generate debug info for the types
   (3) trying to mangle the types using the Microsoft C++ ABI
   (4) trying to @encode the types in Objective C
(1) and (2) are fixed by follow-on patches but (unlike this patch)
they deal mostly with target-specific LLVM details, so seemed like
a logically separate change.  There is currently no spec for (3) and
(4), so reporting an error seems like the correct behaviour for now.
The intention is that the types will become sizeless types:
   http://lists.llvm.org/pipermail/cfe-dev/2019-June/062523.html
The main purpose of the sizeless type extension is to diagnose
impossible or dangerous uses of the types, such as any that would
require sizeof to have a meaningful defined value.
Until then, the patch sets the alignments of the types to the values
specified in the link above.  It also sets the sizes of the types to
zero, which is chosen to be consistently wrong and shouldn't affect
correctly-written code (i.e. code that would compile even with the
sizeless type extension).
The patch adds the common subset of functionality needed to test the
sizeless type extension on the one hand and to provide SVE intrinsic
functions on the other.  After this patch, the two pieces of work are
essentially independent.
The patch is based on one by Graham Hunter:
Alex Lorenz e1f4c4aad2 [clang-scan-deps] Implementation of dependency scanner over minimized sources
This commit implements the fast dependency scanning mode in clang-scan-deps: the
preprocessing is done on files that are minimized using the dependency directives source minimizer.
A shared file system cache is used to ensure that the file system requests and source minimization
is performed only once. The cache assumes that the underlying filesystem won't change during the course
of the scan (or if it will, it will not affect the output), and it can't be evicted. This means that the
service and workers can be used for a single run of a dependency scanner, and can't be reused across multiple,
incremental runs. This is something that we'll most likely support in the future though.
Note that the driver still utilizes the underlying real filesystem.
This commit is also still missing the fast skipped PP block skipping optimization that I mentioned at EuroLLVM talk.
Additionally, the file manager is still not reused by the threads as well.
Rui Ueyama a52f982f1c Improve raw_ostream so that you can "write" colors using operator<<
1. raw_ostream supports ANSI colors so that you can write messages to
the termina with colors. Previously, in order to change and reset
color, you had to call `changeColor` and `resetColor` functions,
respectively.
So, if you print out "error: " in red, for example, you had to do
something like this:
  OS.changeColor(raw_ostream::RED);
  OS << "error: ";
  OS.resetColor();
With this patch, you can write the same code as follows:
  OS << raw_ostream::RED << "error: " << raw_ostream::RESET;
2. Add a boolean flag to raw_ostream so that you can disable colored
output. If you disable colors, changeColor, operator<<(Color),
resetColor and other color-related functions have no effect.
Most LLVM tools automatically prints out messages using colors, and
you can disable it by passing a flag such as `--disable-colors`.
This new flag makes it easy to write code that works that way.
Alex Lorenz f36d83735e [clang-scan-deps] initial outline of the tool that runs preprocessor to find
dependencies over a JSON compilation database
This commit introduces an outline for the clang-scan-deps tool that will be
used to implement fast dependency discovery phase using implicit modules for
explicit module builds.
The initial version of the tool works by computing non-modular header dependencies
for files in the compilation database without any optimizations
(i.e. without source minimization from r362459).
The tool spawns a number of worker threads to run the clang compiler workers in parallel.
The immediate goal for clang-scan-deps is to create a ClangScanDeps library
which will be used to build up this tool to use the source minimization and
caching multi-threaded filesystem to implement the optimized non-incremental
dependency scanning phase for a non-modular build. This will allow us to do
benchmarks and comparisons for performance that the minimization and caching give us
It is useful to build with _XOPEN_SOURCE defined on AIX, enabling X/Open
bugs in the headers provided by the system and build compiler.
This patch adds the config to cmake to build with _XOPEN_SOURCE defined
on AIX with a few exceptions. Google Test internals require access to
platform specific thread info constructs on AIX so in that case we build
with _ALL_SOURCE defined instead. Libclang also uses header which needs
_ALL_SOURCE on AIX so we leave that as is as well.
We also add building on AIX with the large file API and doing CMake
header checks with X/OPEN definitions so the results are consistent with
the environment that will be present in the build.
--compress-debug-sections=zlib (gcc -gz) means zlib-gabi:
SHF_COMPRESSED. Before that it meant zlib-gnu (.zdebug).
clang's -gz was introduced in rC306115 (Jun 2017) to indicate zlib-gnu. It
is 2019 now and it is not unreasonable to assume users of the new
feature to have new linkers (ld.bfd/gold >= 2.26, lld >= rLLD273661).
Change clang's default accordingly to improve standard conformance.
zlib-gnu becomes out of fashion and gets poorer toolchain support.
Its mangled names confuse tools and are more likely to cause problems.
Richard Smith b23c5e8c3d [c++20] Implement P0846R0: allow (ADL-only) calls to template-ids whose
template name is not visible to unqualified lookup.
In order to support this without a severe degradation in our ability to
diagnose typos in template names, this change significantly restructures
the way we handle template-id-shaped syntax for which lookup of the
template name finds nothing.
Instead of eagerly diagnosing an undeclared template name, we now form a
placeholder template-name representing a name that is known to not find
any templates. When the parser sees such a name, it attempts to
disambiguate whether we have a less-than comparison or a template-id.
Any diagnostics or typo-correction for the name are delayed until its
point of use.
The upshot should be a small improvement of our diagostic quality
overall: we now take more syntactic context into account when trying to
resolve an undeclared identifier on the left hand side of a '<'. In
fact, this works well enough that the backwards-compatible portion (for
an undeclared identifier rather than a lookup that finds functions but
no function templates) is enabled in all language modes.
D54996 Changed the behaviour of clang_Cursor_isAnonymous, but there is no alternative available to get the old behaviour in some cases, which is essential for determining if a record is syntactically accessible, e.g.
} foo;
struct {
  struct {
    int x;
    int y;
  };
} bar;
void fun(struct { int x; int y; } *param);
The only 'anonymous' struct here is the one nested in bar, since there is
no way to reference the struct itself, only the fields within. Though the
anonymity applies to the instance itself, not the type.
To avoid confusion, I have added a new function called clang_Cursor_isAnonymousRecordDecl
which has the old behaviour of clang_Cursor_isAnonymous (and updated the doc
for the latter as well, which was seemingly forgotten).
Nico Weber 04347d848d Make SourceManager::createFileID(UnownedTag, ...) take a const llvm::MemoryBuffer*
Requires making the llvm::MemoryBuffer* stored by SourceManager const,
which in turn requires making the accessors for that return const
llvm::MemoryBuffer*s and updating all call sites.
The original motivation for this was to use it and fix the TODO in
CodeGenAction.cpp's ConvertBackendLocation() by using the UnownedTag
version of createFileID, and since llvm::SourceMgr* hands out a const
llvm::MemoryBuffer* this is required. I'm not sure if fixing the TODO
this way actually works, but this seems like a good change on its own
anyways.
No intended behavior change.
This change adds hierarchical "time trace" profiling blocks that can be visualized in Chrome, in a "flame chart" style. Each profiling block can have a "detail" string that for example indicates the file being processed, template name being instantiated, function being optimized etc.
The RISC-V assembler needs the target ABI because it defines a flag of the ELF
Make clang (the driver) to pass the target ABI to -cc1as in exactly the same
way it does for -cc1.
Currently -cc1as knows about -target-abi but is not handling it. Handle it and
pass it to the MC layer via MCTargetOptions.
Paul Hoad cbb726d0c5 [clang-format] Add basic support for formatting C# files
Summary:
This revision adds basic support for formatting C# files with clang-format, I know the barrier to entry is high here  so I'm sending this revision in to test the water as to whether this might be something we'd consider landing.
Tracking in Bugzilla as:
https://bugs.llvm.org/show_bug.cgi?id=40850
Justification:
C# code just looks ugly in comparison to the C++ code in our source tree which is clang-formatted.
I've struggled with Visual Studio reformatting to get a clean and consistent style, I want to format our C# code on saving like I do now for C++ and i want it to have the same style as defined in our .clang-format file, so it consistent as it can be with C++.  (Braces/Breaking/Spaces/Indent etc..)
Using clang format without this patch leaves the code in a bad state, sometimes when the BreakStringLiterals is set, it  fails to compile.
Mostly the C# is similar to Java, except instead of JavaAnnotations I try to reuse the TT_AttributeSquare.
Almost the most valuable portion is to have a new Language in order to partition the configuration for C# within a common .clang-format file, with the auto detection on the .cs extension. But there are other C# specific styles that could be added later if this is accepted. in particular how  `{ set;get }` is formatted.
Roman Lebedev 0457388125 [clang][OpenMP] Revert "OMPFlushClause is synthetic, no such clause exists"
Summary:
This reverts rL352390 / D57280.
As discussed in https://reviews.llvm.org/D57112#inline-506781,
'flush' clause does not exist in the OpenMP spec, it can not be
specified, and `OMPFlushClause` class is just a helper class.
Now, here's the caveat. I have read @ABataev's
> Well, I think it would be good to filter out OMPC_flush somehow
> because there is no such clause actually, it is a pseudo clause
> for better handling of the flush directive.
as if that clause is pseudo clause that only exists for the sole
purpose of simplifying the parser. As in, it never reaches AST.
I did not however try to verify that. Too bad, i was wrong.
It absolutely *does* reach AST. Therefore my understanding/justification
for the change was flawed, which makes the patch a regression which **must** be reverted.
@gribozavr has brought that up again in https://reviews.llvm.org/D57112#inline-521238
Serge Guelton 3331b6eab3 [tools] Fix python DeprecationWarning: invalid escape sequence
The python documentation says "it’s highly recommended that you use raw strings for all but the simplest expressions." (https://docs.python.org/3/library/re.html)
So do that with the attached patch generated by
    sed -i -e "s/re.search('/re.search(r'/g" $(git grep -l 're.search(')
The warning can be seen in e.g. python3.7:
    $ python3.7 -Wd
    >>> import re; re.search('\s', '')
Michael Kruse 251e1488e1 [OpenMP 5.0] Parsing/sema support for "omp declare mapper" directive.
This patch implements parsing and sema for "omp declare mapper"
directive. User defined mapper, i.e., declare mapper directive, is a new
feature in OpenMP 5.0. It is introduced to extend existing map clauses
for the purpose of simplifying the copy of complex data structures
between host and device (i.e., deep copy). An example is shown below:
    struct S {  int len;  int *d; };
    #pragma omp declare mapper(struct S s) map(s, s.d[0:s.len]) // Memory region that d points to is also mapped using this mapper.
- fixes the test on macOS with LLVM_ENABLE_PIC=OFF
- together with D57343, gets the test to pass on Windows
- makes it run everywhere (it seems to just pass on Linux)
The main change is to pull out the resource directory computation into a
function shared by all 3 places that do it. In CIndexer.cpp, this now works no
matter if libclang is in lib/ or bin/ or statically linked to a binary in bin/.
Roman Lebedev 23019f946d [clang][OpenMP] OMPFlushClause is synthetic, no such clause exists
Summary:
As discussed in https://reviews.llvm.org/D57112#inline-506781,
'flush' clause does not exist in the OpenMP spec, it can not be
specified, and `OMPFlushClause` class is just a helper class.
Therefore `OPENMP_CLAUSE()` in `clang/Basic/OpenMPKinds.def`
should not contain 'flush' "clause".
I have simply removed the `OPENMP_CLAUSE(flush, OMPFlushClause)`
from `clang/Basic/OpenMPKinds.def`, grepped for `OPENMP_CLAUSE`
and added `OPENMP_CLAUSE(flush, OMPFlushClause)` back to the **every**
place where `OPENMP_CLAUSE` is defined and `clang/Basic/OpenMPKinds.def`
is then included.
So as-is, this patch is a NFC. Possibly, some of these
`OPENMP_CLAUSE(flush, OMPFlushClause)` should be dropped,
i don't really know.
Nico Weber e9cac31dac Attempt to fix build on Windows with LLVM_ENABLE_PIC=OFF
libclang can be built in shared or static mode. On Windows, with
LLVM_ENABLE_PIC=OFF, it was built in neither mode, leading to clients of
libclang (c-index-test, c-arcmt-test) failing to link with it set.
Since PIC isn't really a thing on Windows, build libclang in shared mode when
LLVM_ENABLE_PIC=OFF there. This is also somewhat symmetric with the existing
ENABLE_STATIC a few lines down.
Serge Guelton be88539b85 Replace llvm::isPodLike<...> by llvm::is_trivially_copyable<...>
As noted in https://bugs.llvm.org/show_bug.cgi?id=36651, the specialization for
isPodLike<std::pair<...>> did not match the expectation of
std::is_trivially_copyable which makes the memcpy optimization invalid.
This patch renames the llvm::isPodLike trait into llvm::is_trivially_copyable.
Unfortunately std::is_trivially_copyable is not portable across compiler / STL
versions. So a portable version is provided too.
Note that the following specialization were invalid:
    std::pair<T0, T1>
    llvm::Optional<T>
Tests have been added to assert that former specialization are respected by the
standard usage of llvm::is_trivially_copyable, and that when a decent version
of std::is_trivially_copyable is available, llvm::is_trivially_copyable is
compared to std::is_trivially_copyable.
As of this patch, llvm::Optional is no longer considered trivially copyable,
even if T is. This is to be fixed in a later patch, as it has impact on a
long-running bug (see r347004)
Note that GCC warns about this UB, but this got silented by https://reviews.llvm.org/D50296.
Chandler Carruth 2946cd7010 Update the file headers across all of the LLVM projects in the monorepo
to reflect the new license.
We understand that people may be surprised that we're moving the header
entirely to discuss the new license. We checked this carefully with the
Foundation's lawyer and we believe this is the correct approach.
Essentially, all code in the project is now made available by the LLVM
project under our new license, so you will see that the license headers
include that license only. Some of our contributors have contributed
code under our old license, and accordingly, we have retained a copy of
our old license notice in the top-level files in each project and
repository.
Chandler Carruth 469bdefd44 Install new LLVM license structure and new developer policy.
This installs the new developer policy and moves all of the license
files across all LLVM projects in the monorepo to the new license
structure. The remaining projects will be moved independently.
Note that I've left odd formatting and other idiosyncracies of the
legacy license structure text alone to make the diff easier to read.
Critically, note that we do not in any case *remove* the old license
notice or terms, as that remains necessary until we finish the
relicensing process.
I've updated a few license files that refer to the LLVM license to
instead simply refer generically to whatever license the LLVM project is
under, basically trying to minimize confusion.
This is really the culmination of so many people. Chris led the
community discussions, drafted the policy update and organized the
multi-year string of meeting between lawyers across the community to
figure out the strategy. Numerous lawyers at companies in the community
spent their time figuring out initial answers, and then the Foundation's
lawyer Heather Meeker has done *so* much to help refine and get us ready
here. I could keep going on, but I just want to make sure everyone
realizes what a huge community effort this has been from the begining.
