Summary:
This change is part of step six in the series of changes to remove the alignment
argument from memcpy/memmove/memset in favour of alignment attributes. At this
point all users of the IRBuilder APIs for creating a memcpy/memmove call given
a single value for alignment have been updated. We want to discourage usage of
these old APIs in favour of the newer ones that allow for separate source and
destination alignments, so this patch deletes the old API.
Specifically, we remove from IRBuilder:
CallInst *CreateMemCpy(Value *Dst, Value *Src, uint64_t Size, unsigned Align,
bool isVolatile = false, MDNode *TBAATag = nullptr,
MDNode *TBAAStructTag = nullptr,
MDNode *ScopeTag = nullptr,
MDNode *NoAliasTag = nullptr)
CallInst *CreateMemCpy(Value *Dst, Value *Src, Value *Size, unsigned Align,
bool isVolatile = false, MDNode *TBAATag = nullptr,
MDNode *TBAAStructTag = nullptr,
MDNode *ScopeTag = nullptr,
MDNode *NoAliasTag = nullptr)
CallInst *CreateMemMove(Value *Dst, Value *Src, uint64_t Size, unsigned Align,
bool isVolatile = false, MDNode *TBAATag = nullptr,
MDNode *ScopeTag = nullptr,
MDNode *NoAliasTag = nullptr)
CallInst *CreateMemMove(Value *Dst, Value *Src, Value *Size, unsigned Align,
bool isVolatile = false, MDNode *TBAATag = nullptr,
MDNode *ScopeTag = nullptr,
MDNode *NoAliasTag = nullptr)
Steps:
Step 1) Remove alignment parameter and create alignment parameter attributes for
memcpy/memmove/memset. ( rL322965, rC322964, rL322963 )
Step 2) Expand the IRBuilder API to allow creation of memcpy/memmove with differing
source and dest alignments. ( rL323597 )

Step 4) Update Polly to use the new IRBuilder API. ( rL323618 )
Step 5) Update LLVM passes that create memcpy/memmove calls to use the new IRBuilder API,

MemIntrinsicInst::[get|set]Alignment() methods.

Summary:
This pass sinks COPY instructions into a successor block, if the COPY is not
used in the current block and the COPY is live-in to a single successor
(i.e., doesn't require the COPY to be duplicated). This avoids executing the
the copy on paths where their results aren't needed. This also exposes
additional opportunites for dead copy elimination and shrink wrapping.
These copies were either not handled by or are inserted after the MachineSink
pass. As an example of the former case, the MachineSink pass cannot sink
COPY instructions with allocatable source registers; for AArch64 these type
of copy instructions are frequently used to move function parameters (PhyReg)
into virtual registers in the entry block..
For the machine IR below, this pass will sink %w19 in the entry into its
successor (%bb.1) because %w19 is only live-in in %bb.1.
```
%bb.0:
%wzr = SUBSWri %w1, 1
%w19 = COPY %w0
Bcc 11, %bb.2
%bb.1:
Live Ins: %w19
BL @fun
%w0 = ADDWrr %w0, %w19
RET %w0
%bb.2:
%w0 = COPY %wzr
RET %w0
```
As we sink %w19 (CSR in AArch64) into %bb.1, the shrink-wrapping pass will be
able to see %bb.0 as a candidate.
With this change I observed 12% more shrink-wrapping candidate and 13% more dead copies deleted in spec2000/2006/2017 on AArch64.

llvm-svn: 328123
Summary:
Instantiating def's and defm's needs to perform the following steps:
- for defm's, clone multiclass def prototypes and subsitute template args
- for def's and defm's, add subclass definitions, substituting template
args
- clone the record based on foreach loops and substitute loop iteration
variables
- override record variables based on the global 'let' stack
- resolve the record name (this should be simple, but unfortunately it's
not due to existing .td files relying on rather silly implementation
details)
- for def(m)s in multiclasses, add the unresolved record as a multiclass
prototype
- for top-level def(m)s, resolve all internal variable references and add
them to the record keeper and any active defsets
This change streamlines how we go through these steps, by having both
def's and defm's feed into a single addDef() method that handles foreach,
final resolve, and routing the record to the right place.
This happens to make foreach inside of multiclasses work, as the new
test case demonstrates. Previously, foreach inside multiclasses was not
forbidden by the parser, but it was de facto broken.
Another side effect is that the order of "instantiated from" notes in error
messages is reversed, as the modified test case shows. This is arguably
clearer, since the initial error message ends up pointing directly to
whatever triggered the error, and subsequent notes will point to increasingly
outer layers of multiclasses. This is consistent with how C++ compilers
report nested #includes and nested template instantiations.

Summary:
We have had at least three pieces of code (in DWARFAbbreviationDeclaration,
DWARFAcceleratorTable and DWARFDie) that have hand-rolled support for
dumping unknown dwarf enum values. While not terrible, they are a bit
distracting and enable small differences to creep in (Unknown_ffff vs.
Unknown_0xffff). I ended up needing to add a fourth place
(DWARFVerifier), so it seems it would be a good time to centralize.
This patch creates an alternative to the XXXString dumping functions in
the BinaryFormat library, which formats an unknown value as
DW_TYPE_unknown_1234, instead of just an empty string. It is based on
the formatv function, as that allows us to avoid materializing the
string for unknown values (and because this way I don't have to invent a
name for the new functions :P).
In this patch I add formatters for dwarf attributes, forms, tags, and
index attributes as these are the ones in use currently, but adding
other enums is straight-forward.

Many of our loop passes make use of so called "must execute" or "guaranteed to execute" facts to prove the legality of code motion. The basic notion is that we know (by assumption) an instruction didn't fault at it's original location, so if the location we move it to is strictly post dominated by the original, then we can't have introduced a new fault.
At the moment, the testing for this logic is somewhat adhoc and done mostly through LICM. Since I'm working on that code, I want to improve the testing. This patch is the first step in that direction. It doesn't actually test the variant used by the loop passes - I need to move that to the Analysis library first - but instead exercises an alternate implementation used by SCEV. (I plan on merging both implementations.)

operation all-or-nothing, rather than allowing materialization on a per-symbol
basis.
This addresses a shortcoming of per-symbol materialization: If a
MaterializationUnit (/SymbolSource) wants to materialize more symbols than
requested (which is likely: most materializers will want to materialize whole
modules) then it needs a way to notify the symbol table about the extra symbols
being materialized. This process (checking what has been requested against what
is being provided and notifying the symbol table about the difference) has to
be repeated at every level of the JIT stack. Making materialization
all-or-nothing eliminates this issue, simplifying both materializer
implementations and the symbol table (VSO class) API. The cost is that
per-symbol materialization (e.g. for individual symbols in a module) now
requires multiple MaterializationUnits.

Natvis is a debug language supported by Visual Studio for
specifying custom visualizers. The /NATVIS option is an
undocumented link.exe flag which will take a .natvis file
and "inject" it into the PDB. This way, you can ship the
debug visualizers for a program along with the PDB, which
is very useful for postmortem debugging.
This is implemented by adding a new "named stream" to the
PDB with a special name of /src/files/<natvis file name>
and simply copying the contents of the xml into this file.
Additionally, we need to emit a single stream named
/src/headerblock which contains a hash table of embedded
files to records describing them.

Now the Windows mangling modes ('w' and 'x') do not do any mangling for
symbols starting with '?'. This means that clang can stop adding the
hideous '\01' leading escape. This means LLVM debug logs are less likely
to contain ASCII escape characters and it will be easier to copy and
paste MS symbol names from IR.
Finally.
For non-Windows platforms, names starting with '?' still get IR
mangling, so once clang stops escaping MS C++ names, we will get extra
'_' prefixing on MachO. That's fine, since it is currently impossible to
construct a triple that uses the MS C++ ABI in clang and emits macho
object files.

Summary:
This patch adds more checks to the .debug_names validator. Specifically,
they check for:
- buckets claiming to be non-empty but pointing to mismatched hashes
(most consumers would interpret this as an empty bucket, but it
questionable whether the generator meant that)
- hashes that are not reachable from any bucket
- names with incorrect hashes
Together, these checks ensure that any name in the index can be reached
through the hash table using the regular lookup algorithm. We also warn
if we encounter a name index without a hash table.

There are two nontrivial details here:
* Loop structure update interface is quite different with new pass manager,
so the code to add new loops was factored out
* BranchProbabilityInfo is not a loop analysis, so it can not be just getResult'ed from
within the loop pass. It cant even be queried through getCachedResult as LoopCanonicalization
sequence (e.g. LoopSimplify) might invalidate BPI results.
Complete solution for BPI will likely take some time to discuss and figure out,
so for now this was partially solved by making BPI optional in IRCE
(skipping a couple of profitability checks if it is absent).
Most of the IRCE tests got their corresponding new-pass-manager variant enabled.
Only two of them depend on BPI, both marked with TODO, to be turned on when BPI

Methods `computeExitLimitFromCondCached` and `computeExitLimitFromCondImpl` take
true and false branches as parameters and only use them for asserts and for identifying
whether true/false branch belongs to the loop (which can be done once earlier). This fact
complicates generalization of exit limit computation logic on guards because the guards
don't have blocks to which they go in case of failure explicitly.
The motivation of this patch is that currently this part of SCEV knows nothing about guards
and only works with explicit branches. As result, it fails to prove that a loop
for (i = 0; i < 100; i++)
guard(i < 10);
exits after 10th iteration, while in the equivalent example
for (i = 0; i < 100; i++)
if (i >= 10) break;
SCEV easily proves this fact. We are going to change it in near future, and this is why
we need to make these methods operate on more abstract level.
This patch refactors this code to get rid of these parameters as meaningless and prepare
ground for teaching these methods to work with guards as well as they work with explicit
branching instructions.

llvm-svn: 327601
Summary:
Local values are constants, global addresses, and stack addresses that
can't be folded into the instruction that uses them. For example, when
storing the address of a global variable into memory, we need to
materialize that address into a register.
FastISel doesn't want to materialize any given local value more than
once, so it generates all local value materialization code at
EmitStartPt, which always dominates the current insertion point. This
allows it to maintain a map of local value registers, and it knows that
the local value area will always dominate the current insertion point.
The downside is that local value instructions are always emitted without
a source location. This is done to prevent jumpy line tables, but it
means that the local value area will be considered part of the previous
statement. Consider this C code:
call1(); // line 1
++global; // line 2
++global; // line 3
call2(&global, &local); // line 4
Today we end up with assembly and line tables like this:
.loc 1 1
callq call1
leaq global(%rip), %rdi
leaq local(%rsp), %rsi
.loc 1 2
addq $1, global(%rip)
.loc 1 3
addq $1, global(%rip)
.loc 1 4
callq call2
The LEA instructions in the local value area have no source location and
are treated as being on line 1. Stepping through the code in a debugger
and correlating it with the assembly won't make much sense, because
these materializations are only required for line 4.
This is actually problematic for the VS debugger "set next statement"
feature, which effectively assumes that there are no registers live
across statement boundaries. By sinking the local value code into the
statement and fixing up the source location, we can make that feature
work. This was filed as https://bugs.llvm.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35975 and
https://crbug.com/793819.
This change is obviously not enough to make this feature work reliably
in all cases, but I felt that it was worth doing anyway because it
usually generates smaller, more comprehensible -O0 code. I measured a
0.12% regression in code generation time with LLC on the sqlite3
amalgamation, so I think this is worth doing.
There are some special cases worth calling out in the commit message:
1. local values materialized for phis
2. local values used by no-op casts
3. dead local value code
Local values can be materialized for phis, and this does not show up as
a vreg use in MachineRegisterInfo. In this case, if there are no other
uses, this patch sinks the value to the first terminator, EH label, or
the end of the BB if nothing else exists.
Local values may also be used by no-op casts, which adds the register to
the RegFixups table. Without reversing the RegFixups map direction, we
don't have enough information to sink these instructions.
Lastly, if the local value register has no other uses, we can delete it.
This comes up when fastisel tries two instruction selection approaches
and the first materializes the value but fails and the second succeeds
without using the local value.

Instruction Selection makes use of the topological ordering of nodes
by node id (a node's operands have smaller node id than it) when doing

The retpoline mitigation for variant 2 of CVE-2017-5715 inhibits the
branch predictor, and as a result it can lead to a measurable loss of
performance. We can reduce the performance impact of retpolined virtual
calls by replacing them with a special construct known as a branch
funnel, which is an instruction sequence that implements virtual calls
to a set of known targets using a binary tree of direct branches. This
allows the processor to speculately execute valid implementations of the
virtual function without allowing for speculative execution of of calls
to arbitrary addresses.
This patch extends the whole-program devirtualization pass to replace
certain virtual calls with calls to branch funnels, which are
represented using a new llvm.icall.jumptable intrinsic. It also extends
the LowerTypeTests pass to recognize the new intrinsic, generate code
for the branch funnels (x86_64 only for now) and lay out virtual tables
as required for each branch funnel.
The implementation supports full LTO as well as ThinLTO, and extends the
ThinLTO summary format used for whole-program devirtualization to
support branch funnels.

Multiclasses cannot be used to eliminate the redundancy in this case,

Even though the getDIEOffset offset function was common for the two
accelerator table implementations, it was doing two different things:
for the Apple tables, it was returning the die offset relative to the
start of the section, whereas for DWARF v5 tables, it was relative to
the start of the CU.
I resolve this by renaming the function to getDIESectionOffset to make
it obvious what the function returns, and change the DWARF
implementation to return the section offset. I also keep the CU-relative
accessor, but only in the DWARF implementation (there is no way to get
this information for the Apple tables). This was not caught by existing
tests because the hand-written inputs also erroneously used section
offsets instead of CU-relative ones.
While looking at this, I noticed that the Apple implementation was not
fully correct either -- the header contains a DIEOffsetBase field, which
should be added to offsets encoded with the DW_FORM_ref*** family, but
this was not being used. This went unnoticed because all current writers
set this field to zero anyway. I fix this as well and add a hand-written

lifetime and STATISTIC() will record cumulative values across all of them.
Provide tools like this with the facilities needed to measure individual
compilations by allowing them to reset the STATISTIC() values back to zero using
llvm::ResetStatistics(). It's still the tools responsibility to ensure that they
perform compilations in such a way that the results are meaningful to their
intended use.

Only instantiate anonymous records once all variable references in template

which in practice can appear in expressions like:
class IntrinsicTypeProfile<list<LLVMType> ty, int shift> {
list<LLVMType> types =
!listconcat(ty, [llvm_any_ty, LLVMMatchType<shift>]);
}
class FooIntrinsic<IntrinsicTypeProfile P, ...>
: Intrinsic<..., P.types, ...>;
Without this change, the anonymous LLVMMatchType instantiation would
never get resolved.
Another consequence of this change is that anonymous inline
instantiations are uniqued via the folding set of the newly introduced
VarDefInit.

Summary:
Distinguish two relationships between types: is-a and convertible-to.
For example, a bit is not an int or vice versa, but they can be
converted into each other (with range checks that you can think of
as "dynamic": unlike other type checks, those range checks do not
happen during parsing, but only once the final values have been
established).
Actually converting initializers between types is subtle: even
when values of type A can be converted to type B (e.g. int into
string), it may not be possible to do so with a concrete initializer
(e.g., a VarInit that refers to a variable of type int cannot
be immediately converted to a string).
For this reason, distinguish between getCastTo and convertInitializerTo:
the latter implements the actual conversion when appropriate, while
the former will first try to do the actual conversion and fall back
to introducing a !cast operation so that the conversion will be
delayed until variable references have been resolved.
To make the approach of adding !cast operations to work, !cast needs
to fallback to convertInitializerTo when the special string <-> record
logic does not apply.
This enables casting records to a subclass, although that new
functionality is only truly useful together with !isa, which will be
added in a later change.
The test is removed because it uses !srl on a bit sequence,
which cannot really be supported consistently, but luckily
isn't used anywhere either.

Summary:
Allow RecordRecTy to represent the type "subclass of N superclasses",
where N may be zero. Furthermore, generate RecordRecTy instances only
with actual classes in the list.
Keeping track of multiple superclasses is required to resolve the type
of a list correctly in some cases. The old code relied on the incorrect
behavior of typeIsConvertibleTo, and an earlier version of this change
relied on a modified ordering of superclasses (it was committed in
r325884 and then reverted because unfortunately some of clang-tblgen's
backends depend on the ordering).
Previously, the DefInit for each Record would have a RecordRecTy of
that Record as its type. Now, all defs with the same superclasses will
share the same type.
This allows us to be more consistent about type checks involving records:
- typeIsConvertibleTo actually requires the LHS to be a subtype of the
RHS
- resolveTypes will return the least supertype of given record types in
all cases
- different record types in the two branches of an !if are handled
correctly
Add a test that used to be accepted without flagging the obvious type
error.

It can be useful for tools to be able to retrieve the values of variables
declared via STATISTIC() directly without having to emit them and parse

* Needing to report specific statistics to a test harness
* Wanting to post-process statistics. For example, to produce a percentage of

Make this possible by adding llvm::GetStatistics() which returns an
iterator_range that can be used to inspect the statistics that have been
touched during execution. When statistics are disabled (NDEBUG and not
LLVM_ENABLE_STATISTICS) this method will return an empty range.
This patch doesn't address the effect of multiple compilations within the same

This changes the syntax of !foreach so that the first "parameter" is
a new syntactic variable: !foreach(x, lst, expr) will define the
variable x within the scope of expr, and evaluation of the !foreach
will substitute elements of the given list (or dag) for x in expr.
Aside from leading to a nicer syntax, this allows more complex
expressions where x is deeply nested, or even constant expressions
in which x does not occur at all.
!foreach is currently not actually used anywhere in trunk, but I
plan to use it in the AMDGPU backend. If out-of-tree targets are
using it, they can adjust to the new syntax very easily.

Currently it's impossible to test InstructionSelect pass with MIR which
is considered illegal by the Legalizer in Assert builds. In early stages
of porting an existing backend from SelectionDAG ISel to GlobalISel,
however, we would have very basic CallLowering, Legalizer, and
RegBankSelect implementations, but rather functional Instruction Select
with quite a few patterns selectable due to the semi-automatic porting
process borrowing them from SelectionDAG ISel.
As we are trying to define legality as a property of being selectable by
the instruction selector, it would be nice to be able to easily check
what the selector can do in its current state w/o the legality check
provided by the Legalizer getting in the way.
It also seems beneficial to have a regression testing set up that would
not allow the selector to silently regress in its support of the MIR not
supported yet by the previous passes in the GlobalISel pipeline.
This commit adds -disable-gisel-legality-check command line option to
llc that disables those legality checks in RegBankSelect and
InstructionSelect passes.
It also adds quite a few MIR test cases for AArch64's Instruction
Selector. Every one of them would fail on the legality check at the
moment, but will select just fine if the check is disabled. Every test
