These ExprWithCleanups are added for holding a RunCleanupsScope not

Gabor Horvath 1b3f8db8b6 [ASTMatchers] New matcher forFunction
Summary: Matcher proposed in the review of checker misc-assign-operator (name pending). Its goal is to find the direct enclosing function declaration of a statement and run the inner matcher on it. Two version is attached in this patch (thus it will not compile), to be decided which approach to take. The second one always chooses one single parent while the first one does a depth-first search upwards (thus a height-first search) and returns the first positive match of the inner matcher (thus it always returns zero or one matches, not more). Further questions: is it enough to implement it in-place, or ASTMatchersInternals or maybe ASTMatchFinder should be involved?

Gabor Horvath 1b654f2293 [ASTMatchers] Existing matcher hasAnyArgument fixed
Summary: A checker (will be uploaded after this patch) needs to check implicit casts. The checker needs matcher hasAnyArgument but it ignores implicit casts and parenthesized expressions which disables checking of implicit casts for arguments in the checker. However the documentation of the matcher contains a FIXME that this should be removed once separate matchers for ignoring implicit casts and parenthesized expressions are ready. Since these matchers were already there the fix could be executed. Only one Clang checker was affected which was also fixed (ignoreParenImpCasts added) and is separately uploaded. Third party checkers (not in the Clang repository) may be affected by this fix so the fix must be emphasized in the release notes.

Nico Weber 26911c7733 Make ParentMap work with explicit specializations of function templates.
For an explicit specialization, we first build a FunctionDecl, and then
we call SubstDecl() on it to build a second FunctionDecl, which has the
first FunctionDecl as canonical decl.

The address of an explicit specialization of function template used to be the
canonical decl of the FunctionDecl. This is different from all the other
DeduceTemplateArguments() calls in SemaOverload, and since the canonical decl
isn't visited by ParentMap while the redecl is, it also made ParentMap assert
when computing the parent of a address-of-explicit-specialization-fun-template.

To fix, remove the getCanonicalDecl() call. No behavior difference for clang,
but it fixes an assert in ParentMap (which is e.g. used by libTooling).

Nico Weber c097337493 Always build a new TypeSourceInfo for function templates with parameters
RecursiveASTVisitor::TraverseFunctionHelper() traverses a function's
ParmVarDecls by going to the function's getTypeSourceInfo if it exists, and
`DEF_TRAVERSE_TYPELOC(FunctionProtoType` then goes to the function's
ParmVarDecls.

For a function template that doesn't have parameters that explicitly depend on
the template parameter, we used to be clever and not build a new
TypeSourceInfo. That meant that when an instantiation of such a template is
visited, its TypeSourceInfo would point to the ParmVarDecls of the template,
not of the instantiation, which then confused clients of RecursiveASTVisitor.

So don't be clever for function templates that have parameters, even if none of
the parameters depend on the type.

Fixes PR26257.

Nico Weber 7b837f578a Include RecordDecls from anonymous unions in the AST.
For

  void f() {
    union { int i; };
  }

clang used to omit the RecordDecl from the anonymous union from the AST.
That's because the code creating it only called PushOnScopeChains(), which adds
it to the current DeclContext, which here is the function's DeclContext. But
RecursiveASTVisitor doesn't descent into all decls in a FunctionDecl.

Instead, for DeclContexts that contain statements, return the RecordDecl so
that it can be included in the DeclStmt containing the VarDecl for the union.

Interesting bits from the AST before this change:

|-FunctionDecl
| `-CompoundStmt
| |-DeclStmt
| | `-VarDecl 0x589cd60 <col:3> col:3 implicit used 'union (anonymous at test.cc:3:3)' callinit

After this change:

-FunctionDecl
| `-CompoundStmt
| |-DeclStmt
| | |-CXXRecordDecl 0x4612e48 <col:3, col:18> col:3 union definition
| | | |-FieldDecl 0x4612f70 <col:11, col:15> col:15 referenced i 'int'
| | `-VarDecl 0x4613010 <col:3> col:3 implicit used 'union (anonymous at test.cc:3:3)' callinit

This is now closer to how anonymous struct and unions are represented as
members of structs. It also enabled deleting some one-off code in the
template instantiation code.

Finally, it fixes a crash with ASTMatchers, see the included test case
(this fixes http://crbug.com/580749).

Aaron Ballman f08e184815 Removing the AST matcher test for thread_local storage duration. Not all platforms support TLS, and on platforms that do not support it, use of thread_local causes an error. Since there's no way to determine whether the testing platform supports TLS, there's no way to know whether the test is safe to run or not. I will explore ways to enable this test, but this will appease at least one more build bot.

Benjamin Kramer 94355aeff8 [AST] Re-add TypeLocs and NestedNameSpecifierLocs to the ParentMap.
This relands r250831 after some fixes to shrink the ParentMap overall
with one addtional tweak: nodes with pointer identity (e.g. Decl* and
friends) can be store more efficiently so I put them in a separate map.
All other nodes (so far only TypeLoc and NNSLoc) go in a different map
keyed on DynTypedNode. This further uglifies the code but significantly
reduces memory overhead.

Overall this change still make ParentMap significantly larger but it's
nowhere as bad as before. I see about 25 MB over baseline (pre-r251008)
on X86ISelLowering.cpp. If this becomes an issue we could consider
splitting the maps further as DynTypedNode is still larger (32 bytes)
than a single TypeLoc (16 bytes) but I didn't want to introduce even
more complexity now.

Benjamin Kramer 998039e2f6 Shrink DynTypedNode by one pointer from 40 to 32 bytes (on x86_64).
The MemoizationData cache was introduced to avoid a series of enum
compares at the cost of making DynTypedNode bigger. This change reverts
to using an enum compare but instead of building a chain of comparison
the enum values are reordered so the check can be performed with a
simple greater than. The alternative would be to steal a bit from the
enum but I think that's a more complex solution and not really needed
here.

I tried this on several large .cpp files with clang-tidy and didn't
notice any performance difference. The test change is due to matchers
being sorted by their node kind.

Benjamin Kramer e8c51fdbd6 Revert "[AST] Put TypeLocs and NestedNameSpecifierLocs into the ParentMap."
Putting DynTypedNode in the ParentMap bloats its memory foot print.
Before the void* key had 8 bytes, now we're at 40 bytes per key which
can mean multiple gigabytes increase for large ASTs and this count
doesn't even include all the added TypeLoc nodes. Revert until I come
up with a better data structure.

This reverts commit r250831.

Benjamin Kramer 36307ffa1b [AST] Put TypeLocs and NestedNameSpecifierLocs into the ParentMap.
Firstly this changes the type of parent map to be keyed on DynTypedNode to
simplify the following changes. This comes with a DenseMapInfo for
DynTypedNode, which is a bit incomplete still and will probably only work
for parentmap right now.

Then the RecursiveASTVisitor in ASTContext is updated and finally
ASTMatchers hasParent and hasAncestor learn about the new functionality.

Now ParentMap is only missing TemplateArgumentLocs and CXXCtorInitializers.

Added objcObjectPointerType(), objcInterfaceDecl(), templateTypeParmType(), injectedClassNameType(), and unresolvedUsingTypenameDecl(). Updated documentation for pointerType() to call out that it does not match ObjCObjectPointerType types. Changed pointsTo() to handle ObjCObjectPointerType as well as PointerType.
While this may seem like a lot of unrelated changes, they all relate back to fixing HasDeclarationMatcher.

This now allows us to write a matcher like:

varDecl(hasType(namedDecl(hasName("Foo"))))

that matches code using typedefs, objc interfaces, template type parameters, injected class names, or unresolved using typenames.

Daniel Jasper d142381cd8 Add some overloads so that floating point literals can be AST matched properly.
I am not entirely sure whether the implemented sematics are ideal. In
particular, should floatLiteral(equals(0.5)) match "0.5f" and should
floatLiteral(equals(0.5f)) match "0.5". With the overloads in this
patch, the answer to both questions is yes, but I am happy to change

Manuel Klimek d3aa1f4a63 Re-apply r222646 (was reverted in r222667). Adding 4 ASTMatchers: typedefDecl, isInMainFile, isInSystemFile, isInFileMatchingName
Change to original: ifndef out tests in Windows due to /-separated
paths.

Summary:
Often one is only interested in matches within the main-file or matches
that are not within a system-header, for which this patch adds
isInMainFile and isInSystemFile. They take no arguments and narrow down
the matches.

The isInFileMatchingName is mainly thought for interactive
clang-query-sessions, to make a matcher more specific without restarting
the session with the files you are interested in for that moment. It
takes a string that will be used as regular-expression to match the
filename of where the matched node is expanded.

Summary:
This change introduces DynMatcherInterface and changes the internal

This change improves our clang-tidy related benchmark by ~14%.
Also, it opens the door for more optimizations of this kind that are

If nodes without memoization data (e.g. TypeLocs) are bound to specific
names, that effectively prevents memoization as those elements cannot be
compared effectively. If it is tried anyway, this can lead to an assert

In the long term, the better solution will be to enable DynTypedNodes

Michael Han c90d12d1df Teach RAV to visit parameter variable declarations of implicit functions. Fixes PR16182.
Normally RAV visits parameter variable declarations of a function by traversing the TypeLoc of
the parameter declarations. However, for implicit functions, their parameters don't have any
TypeLoc, because they are implicit.

So for implicit functions, we visit their parameter variable declarations by traversing them through
the function declaration, and visit them accordingly.

Manuel Klimek a0c025f5d2 Completely revamp node binding for AST matchers.
This is in preparation for the backwards references to bound
nodes, which will expose a lot more about how matches occur. Main
changes:
- instead of building the tree of bound nodes, we build a "set" of bound
nodes and explode all possible match combinations while running
through the matchers; this will allow us to also implement matchers
that filter down the current set of matches, like "equalsBoundNode"
- take the set of bound nodes at the start of the match into
consideration when doing memoization; as part of that, reevaluated
that memoization gives us benefits that are large enough (it still
does - the effect on common match patterns is up to an order of
  magnitude)
- reset the bound nodes when a node does not match, thus never leaking
information from partial sub-matcher matches for failing matchers

Effects:
- we can now correctly "explode" combinatorial matches, for example:
  allOf(forEachDescendant(...bind("a")),
forEachDescendant(...bind("b"))) will now trigger matches for all
combinations of matching "a" and "b"s.
- we now never expose bound nodes from partial matches in matchers that
did not match in the end - this fixes a long-standing issue

FIXMEs:
- rename BoundNodesTreeBuilder to BoundNodesBuilder or
BoundNodesSetBuilder, as we don't build a tree any more; this is out
of scope for this change, though
- we're seeing some performance regressions (around 10%), but I expect
some performance tuning will get that back, and it's easily worth
the increase in expressiveness for now

Manuel Klimek 24db0f0afd First revision of the dynamic ASTMatcher library.
This library supports all the features of the compile-time based ASTMatcher
library, but allows the user to specify and construct the matchers at runtime.
It contains the following modules:
 - A variant type, to be used by the matcher factory.
 - A registry, where the matchers are indexed by name and have a factory method
   with a generic signature.
 - A simple matcher expression parser, that can be used to convert a matcher
expression string into actual matchers that can be used with the AST at
   runtime.

Many features where omitted from this first revision to simplify this code
review. The main ideas are still represented in this change and it already has
support working use cases.
Things that are missing:
 - Support for polymorphic matchers. These requires supporting code in the
registry, the marshallers and the variant type.
 - Support for numbers, char and bool arguments to the matchers. This requires
supporting code in the parser and the variant type.
 - A command line program putting everything together and providing an already
   functional tool.
