Duncan P. N. Exon Smith 8bef5cd49a Modules: Rename MemoryBufferCache to InMemoryModuleCache
Change MemoryBufferCache to InMemoryModuleCache, moving it from Basic to
Serialization. Another patch will start using it to manage module build
more explicitly, but this is split out because it's mostly mechanical.

Because of the move to Serialization we can no longer abuse the
Preprocessor to forward it to the ASTReader. Besides the rename and
file move, that means Preprocessor::Preprocessor has one fewer parameter
and ASTReader::ASTReader has one more.

Jonas Devlieghere fc51490baf Lift VFS from clang to llvm (NFC)
This patch moves the virtual file system form clang to llvm so it can be
used by more projects.

Concretely the patch:
 - Moves VirtualFileSystem.{h|cpp} from clang/Basic to llvm/Support.
 - Moves the corresponding unit test from clang to llvm.
 - Moves the vfs namespace from clang::vfs to llvm::vfs.
 - Formats the lines affected by this change, mostly this is the result of
   the added llvm namespace.

Leonard Chan a677942d8a [Fixed Point Arithmetic] Fixed Point Constant
This patch proposes an abstract type that represents fixed point numbers, similar to APInt or APSInt that was discussed in https://reviews.llvm.org/D48456#inline-425585. This type holds a value, scale, and saturation and is meant to perform intermediate calculations on constant fixed point values.

Currently this class is used as a way for handling the conversions between fixed point numbers with different sizes and radixes. For example, if I'm casting from a signed _Accum to a saturated unsigned short _Accum, I will need to check the value of the signed _Accum to see if it fits into the short _Accum which involves getting and comparing against the max/min values of the short _Accum. The FixedPointNumber class currently handles the radix shifting and extension when converting to a signed _Accum.

Shoaib Meenai d806af3499 [CMake] Use PRIVATE in target_link_libraries for executables
We currently use target_link_libraries without an explicit scope
specifier (INTERFACE, PRIVATE or PUBLIC) when linking executables.
Dependencies added in this way apply to both the target and its
dependencies, i.e. they become part of the executable's link interface
and are transitive.

Transitive dependencies generally don't make sense for executables,
since you wouldn't normally be linking against an executable. This also
causes issues for generating install export files when using
LLVM_DISTRIBUTION_COMPONENTS. For example, clang has a lot of LLVM
library dependencies, which are currently added as interface
dependencies. If clang is in the distribution components but the LLVM
libraries it depends on aren't (which is a perfectly legitimate use case
if the LLVM libraries are being built static and there are therefore no
run-time dependencies on them), CMake will complain about the LLVM
libraries not being in export set when attempting to generate the
install export file for clang. This is reasonable behavior on CMake's
part, and the right thing is for LLVM's build system to explicitly use
PRIVATE dependencies for executables.

Unfortunately, CMake doesn't allow you to mix and match the keyword and
non-keyword target_link_libraries signatures for a single target; i.e.,
if a single call to target_link_libraries for a particular target uses
one of the INTERFACE, PRIVATE, or PUBLIC keywords, all other calls must
also be updated to use those keywords. This means we must do this change
in a single shot. I also fully expect to have missed some instances; I
tested by enabling all the projects in the monorepo (except dragonegg),
and configuring both with and without shared libraries, on both Darwin
and Linux, but I'm planning to rely on the buildbots for other
configurations (since it should be pretty easy to fix those).

Even after this change, we still have a lot of target_link_libraries
calls that don't specify a scope keyword, mostly for shared libraries.
I'm thinking about addressing those in a follow-up, but that's a
separate change IMO.

Duncan P. N. Exon Smith 030d7d6daa Reapply "Modules: Cache PCMs in memory and avoid a use-after-free"
This reverts commit r298185, effectively reapplying r298165, after fixing the
new unit tests (PR32338). The memory buffer generator doesn't null-terminate
the MemoryBuffer it creates; this version of the commit informs getMemBuffer
about that to avoid the assert.

Original commit message follows:

----

Clang's internal build system for implicit modules uses lock files to
ensure that after a process writes a PCM it will read the same one back
in (without contention from other -cc1 commands). Since PCMs are read
from disk repeatedly while invalidating, building, and importing, the
lock is not released quickly. Furthermore, the LockFileManager is not
robust in every environment. Other -cc1 commands can stall until
timeout (after about eight minutes).

This commit changes the lock file from being necessary for correctness
to a (possibly dubious) performance hack. The remaining benefit is to
reduce duplicate work in competing -cc1 commands which depend on the
same module. Follow-up commits will change the internal build system to
continue after a timeout, and reduce the timeout. Perhaps we should
reconsider blocking at all.

This also fixes a use-after-free, when one part of a compilation
validates a PCM and starts using it, and another tries to swap out the
PCM for something new.

The PCMCache is a new type called MemoryBufferCache, which saves memory
buffers based on their filename. Its ownership is shared by the
CompilerInstance and ModuleManager.

- The ModuleManager stores PCMs there that it loads from disk, never
touching the disk if the cache is hot.

- When modules fail to validate, they're removed from the cache.

- When a CompilerInstance is spawned to build a new module, each
already-loaded PCM is assumed to be valid, and is frozen to avoid
the use-after-free.

- Any newly-built module is written directly to the cache to avoid the
round-trip to the filesystem, making lock files unnecessary for
correctness.

Saleem Abdulrasool 94cfc603d1 Basic: move CodeGenOptions from Frontend
This is a mechanical move of CodeGenOptions from libFrontend to libBasic. This
fixes the layering violation introduced earlier by threading CodeGenOptions into
TargetInfo. It should also fix the modules based self-hosting builds. NFC.

Saleem Abdulrasool 724275ba5f Basic: thread CodeGenOptions into TargetInfo
This threads CodeGenOptions into the TargetInfo hierarchy. This is motivated by
ARM which can change some target information based on the EABI selected
(-meabi). Similar options exist for other platforms (e.g. MIPS) and thus is
generally useful. NFC.

Ben Langmuir c8130a74f4 Recommit virtual file system
Previously reverted in r201755 due to causing an assertion failure.

I've removed the offending assertion, and taught the CompilerInstance to
create a default virtual file system inside createFileManager. In the
future, we should be able to reach into the CompilerInvocation to
customize this behaviour without breaking clients that don't care.

Rewriting the same predicates over and over again is bad for code size and

The next commit will try to clean up uses of <ctype.h> functions within Clang.

Chandler Carruth 016bbd88cf Clang side of a refactoring of the CMake unit test build strategy.
The fundamental change is to put a CMakeLists.txt file in the unittest
directory, with a single test binary produced from it. This has several
advantages.

Among other fundamental advantages, we start to get the checking logic
for when a file is missing from the CMake build, and this caught one
missing file already! More fun details in the LLVM commit corresponding
to this one.

Note that the LLVM commit and this one most both be applied, or neither.
