Brian Gesiak 4995614f7c [docs] Use monospace for PCH option flags
Summary:
Use monospace for option flags in the PCH section, instead of the
italics that were being used previously.

I believe these used to be links, for which single backticks would
have been appropriate, but since they were un-link-ified in
https://reviews.llvm.org/rL275560, I believe monospace is now more
appropriate, and so two backticks are needed.

Test Plan:
Build the `docs-clang-html` target and confirm the options are rendered
using monospace font.

Eric Fiselier 1af6c114cc Add `__reference_binds_to_temporary` trait for checking safe reference initialization.
Summary:
The STL types `std::pair` and `std::tuple` can both store reference types. However their constructors cannot adequately check if the initialization of reference types is safe. For example:

```
std::tuple<std::tuple<int> const&> t = 42;
// The stored reference is already dangling.
```

Libc++ has a best effort attempts in tuple to diagnose this, but they're not able to handle all valid cases (If I'm not mistaken). For example initialization of a reference from the result of a class's conversion operator. Libc++ would benefit from having a builtin traits which can provide a much better implementation.

This patch introduce the `__reference_binds_to_temporary(T, U)` trait that determines whether a reference of type `T` bound to an expression of type `U` would bind to a materialized temporary object.

Note that the trait simply returns false if `T` is not a reference type instead of reporting it as an error.

```
static_assert(__is_constructible(int const&, long));
static_assert(__reference_binds_to_temporary(int const&, long));
```

Serge Pavlov 208ac6547c Enable configuration files in clang
Clang is inherently a cross compiler and can generate code for any target
enabled during build. It however requires to specify many parameters in the
invocation, which could be hardcoded during configuration process in the
case of single-target compiler. The purpose of configuration files is to
make specifying clang arguments easier.

A configuration file is a collection of driver options, which are inserted
into command line before other options specified in the clang invocation.
It groups related options together and allows specifying them in simpler,
more flexible and less error prone way than just listing the options
somewhere in build scripts. Configuration file may be thought as a "macro"
that names an option set and is expanded when the driver is called.

Use of configuration files is described in `UserManual.rst`.

We used to advertise private modules to be declared as submodules

Change the canonical way to name it to Foo_Private, forcing private
modules as top level ones, and provide warnings under -Wprivate-module
to suggest fixes for other private naming. Update documentation to

Aaron Ballman 802de4f7ac Harmonize GNU- and C++-style attribute spellings.
Most attributes will now use the Clang<"name"> construct to provide both __attribute__((name)) and [[clang::name]] syntaxes for the attribute. Attributes deviating from this should be marked with a comment explaining why they are not supported under both spellings. Common reasons are: the attribute is provided by some other specification that controls the syntax or the attribute cannot be exposed under a particular spelling for some given reason.

Because this is a mechanical change that only introduces new spellings, there are no test cases for the commit.

Alex Lorenz d8ec431143 [Preprocessor] Implement __is_target_{arch|vendor|os|environment} function-like
builtin macros

This patch implements the __is_target_arch, __is_target_vendor, __is_target_os,
and __is_target_environment Clang preprocessor extensions that were proposed by
@compnerd in Bob's cfe-dev post:
http://lists.llvm.org/pipermail/cfe-dev/2017-November/056166.html.

These macros can be used to examine the components of the target triple at
compile time. A has_builtin(is_target_???) preprocessor check can be used to
check for their availability.

__is_target_arch allows you to check if an arch is specified without worring
about a specific subarch, e.g.

__is_target_arch(arm) returns 1 for the target arch "armv7"
__is_target_arch(armv7) returns 1 for the target arch "armv7"
__is_target_arch(armv6) returns 0 for the target arch "armv7"

__is_target_vendor and __is_target_environment match the specific vendor
or environment. __is_target_os matches the specific OS, but
__is_target_os(darwin) will match any Darwin-based OS. "Unknown" can be used
to test if the triple's component is specified.

Craig Topper 9a724aa38f [Driver][CodeGen] Add -mprefer-vector-width driver option and attribute during CodeGen.
This adds a new command line option -mprefer-vector-width to specify a preferred vector width for the vectorizers. Valid values are 'none' and unsigned integers. The driver will check that it meets those constraints. Specific supported integers will be managed by the targets in the backend.

Clang will take the value and add it as a new function attribute during CodeGen.

This represents the alternate direction proposed by Sanjay in this RFC: http://lists.llvm.org/pipermail/llvm-dev/2017-November/118734.html

The syntax here matches gcc, though gcc treats it as an x86 specific command line argument. gcc only allows values of 128, 256, and 512. I'm not having clang check any values.

Roman Lebedev 809df34efc [Sema] -Wzero-as-null-pointer-constant: don't warn for system macros other than NULL.
Summary:
The warning was initially introduced in D32914 by @thakis,
and the concerns were raised there, and later in rL302247
and PR33771.

I do believe that it makes sense to relax the diagnostic
e.g. in this case, when the expression originates from the
system header, which can not be modified. This prevents
adoption for the diagnostic for codebases which use pthreads
(`PTHREAD_MUTEX_INITIALIZER`), gtest, etc.

As @malcolm.parsons suggests, it *may* make sense to also
not warn for the template types, but it is not obvious to
me how to do that in here.

Though, it still makes sense to complain about `NULL` macro.

While there, add more tests.

Roman Lebedev 7ade0173df [Sema] Document+test the -Wsign-compare change for enums in C code [NFC]
rL316268 / D39122 has fixed PR35009, and now when in C,
these three(?) diagnostics properly use the enum's underlying
datatype.

While it was fixed, the test coverage was clearly insufficient,
because the -Wsign-compare change didn't show up in any of the
tests, until it was reported in the post-commit mail for rL316268.

So add the test for the -Wsign-compare diagnostic for enum
for C code, and while there, document this in the release notes.

The fix itself was obviously correct, so unless we want to silence
this new diagnosed case, i deem this commit to be NFC.

Summary:
This is the follow-up patch to D37924.

This change refactors clang to use the the newly added section headers
in SpecialCaseList to specify which sanitizers blacklists entries
should apply to, like so:

  [cfi-vcall]
  fun:*bad_vcall*
  [cfi-derived-cast|cfi-unrelated-cast]
  fun:*bad_cast*

The SanitizerSpecialCaseList class has been added to allow querying by
SanitizerMask, and SanitizerBlacklist and its downstream users have been
updated to provide that information. Old blacklists not using sections
will continue to function identically since the blacklist entries will
be placed into a '[*]' section by default matching against all
sanitizers.

Krasimir Georgiev ad47c90767 clang-format: Add preprocessor directive indentation
Summary:
This is an implementation for [bug 17362](https://bugs.llvm.org/attachment.cgi?bugid=17362) which adds support for indenting preprocessor statements inside if/ifdef/endif. This takes previous work from fmauch (https://github.com/fmauch/clang/tree/preprocessor_indent) and makes it into a full feature.
The context of this patch is that I'm a VMware intern, and I implemented this because VMware needs the feature. As such, some decisions were made based on what VMware wants, and I would appreciate suggestions on expanding this if necessary to use-cases other people may want.

This adds a new enum config option, `IndentPPDirectives`. Values are:

* `PPDIS_None` (in config: `None`):
```
    #if FOO
    #if BAR
    #include <foo>
    #endif
    #endif
```
* `PPDIS_AfterHash` (in config: `AfterHash`):
```
    #if FOO
    #  if BAR
    #    include <foo>
    #  endif
    #endif
```
This is meant to work whether spaces or tabs are used for indentation. Preprocessor indentation is independent of indentation for non-preprocessor lines.

Preprocessor indentation also attempts to ignore include guards with the checks:
1. Include guards cover the entire file
2. Include guards don't have `#else`
3. Include guards begin with
```
#ifndef <var>
#define <var>
```

This patch allows `UnwrappedLineParser::PPBranchLevel` to be decremented to -1 (the initial value is -1) so the variable can be used for indent tracking.

Defects:
* This patch does not handle the case where there's code between the `#ifndef` and `#define` but all other conditions hold. This is because when the #define line is parsed, `UnwrappedLineParser::Lines` doesn't hold the previous code line yet, so we can't detect it. This is out of the scope of this patch.

* This patch does not handle cases where legitimate lines may be outside an include guard. Examples are `#pragma once` and `#pragma GCC diagnostic`, or anything else that does not change the meaning of the file if it's included multiple times.

* This does not detect when there is a single non-preprocessor line in front of an include-guard-like structure where other conditions hold because `ScopedLineState` hides the line.

* Preprocessor indentation throws off `TokenAnnotator::setCommentLineLevels` so the indentation of comments immediately before indented preprocessor lines is toggled on each run. Fixing this issue appears to be a major change and too much complexity for this patch.

Alexander Potapenko 5241081532 [sanitizer-coverage] Change cmp instrumentation to distinguish const operands
This implementation of SanitizerCoverage instrumentation inserts different
callbacks depending on constantness of operands:

  1. If both operands are non-const, then a usual
     __sanitizer_cov_trace_cmp[1248] call is inserted.
  2. If exactly one operand is const, then a
     __sanitizer_cov_trace_const_cmp[1248] call is inserted. The first
     argument of the call is always the constant one.
  3. If both operands are const, then no callback is inserted.

This separation comes useful in fuzzing when tasks like "find one operand
of the comparison in input arguments and replace it with the other one"
have to be done. The new instrumentation allows us to not waste time on
searching the constant operands in the input.

Yaxun Liu 39195062c2 Add OpenCL 2.0 atomic builtin functions as Clang builtin
OpenCL 2.0 atomic builtin functions have a scope argument which is ideally
represented as synchronization scope argument in LLVM atomic instructions.

Clang supports translating Clang atomic builtin functions to LLVM atomic
instructions. However it currently does not support synchronization scope
of LLVM atomic instructions. Without this, users have to use LLVM assembly
code to implement OpenCL atomic builtin functions.

This patch adds OpenCL 2.0 atomic builtin functions as Clang builtin
functions, which supports generating LLVM atomic instructions with
synchronization scope operand.

Currently only constant memory scope argument is supported. Support of
non-constant memory scope argument will be added later.

Vedant Kumar a0c3671b20 [ubsan] Have -fsanitize=vptr emit a null check if -fsanitize=null isn't available
In r309007, I made -fsanitize=null a hard prerequisite for -fsanitize=vptr. I
did not see the need for the two checks to have separate null checking logic
for the same pointer. I expected the two checks to either always be enabled
together, or to be mutually compatible.

In the mailing list discussion re: r309007 it became clear that that isn't the
case. If a codebase is -fsanitize=vptr clean but not -fsanitize=null clean,
it's useful to have -fsanitize=vptr emit its own null check. That's what this
patch does: with it, -fsanitize=vptr can be used without -fsanitize=null.

Manuel Klimek 696e505278 Unify and simplify the behavior of the hasDeclaration matcher.
Originally, we weren't able to match on Type nodes themselves (only QualType),
so the hasDeclaration matcher was initially written to give what we thought are
reasonable results for QualType matches.

When we chagned the matchers to allow matching on Type nodes, it turned out
that the hasDeclaration matcher was by chance written templated enough to now
allow hasDeclaration to also match on (some) Type nodes.

This patch change the hasDeclaration matcher to:
a) work the same on Type and QualType nodes,
b) be completely explicit about what nodes we can match instead of just allowing
   anything with a getDecl() to match,
c) explicitly control desugaring only one level in very specific instances.
d) adds hasSpecializedTemplate and tagType matchers to allow migrating
  existing use cases that now need more explicit matchers

Note: This patch breaks clang-tools-extra. The corresponding patch there
is approved and will land in a subsequent patch.

Vedant Kumar 10c3102071 [ubsan] Diagnose invalid uses of builtins (clang)
On some targets, passing zero to the clz() or ctz() builtins has undefined

Vedant Kumar bbc953fed4 [ubsan] Null-check pointers in -fsanitize=vptr (PR33881)
The instrumentation generated by -fsanitize=vptr does not null check a
user pointer before loading from it. This causes crashes in the face of
UB member calls (this=nullptr), i.e it's causing user programs to crash
only after UBSan is turned on.

The fix is to make run-time null checking a prerequisite for enabling
-fsanitize=vptr, and to then teach UBSan to reuse these run-time null
checks to make -fsanitize=vptr safe.

Richard Smith 040e12662a Support lazy stat'ing of files referenced by module maps.
This patch adds support for a `header` declaration in a module map to specify
certain `stat` information (currently, size and mtime) about that header file.
This has two purposes:

- It removes the need to eagerly `stat` every file referenced by a module map.
  Instead, we track a list of unresolved header files with each size / mtime
  (actually, for simplicity, we track submodules with such headers), and when
  attempting to look up a header file based on a `FileEntry`, we check if there
  are any unresolved header directives with that `FileEntry`'s size / mtime and
  perform deferred `stat`s if so.

- It permits a preprocessed module to be compiled without the original files
  being present on disk. The only reason we used to need those files was to get
  the `stat` information in order to do header -> module lookups when using the
  module. If we're provided with the `stat` information in the preprocessed
  module, we can avoid requiring the files to exist.

Unlike most `header` directives, if a `header` directive with `stat`
information has no corresponding on-disk file the enclosing module is *not*
marked unavailable (so that behavior is consistent regardless of whether we've
resolved a header directive, and so that preprocessed modules don't get marked
unavailable). We could actually do this for all `header` directives: the only
reason we mark the module unavailable if headers are missing is to give a
diagnostic slightly earlier (rather than waiting until we actually try to build
the module / load and validate its .pcm file).

Check pointer arithmetic for overflow.

For some more background on this check, see:

  https://wdtz.org/catching-pointer-overflow-bugs.html
  https://reviews.llvm.org/D20322

Patch by Will Dietz and John Regehr!

This version of the patch is different from the original in a few ways:

  - It introduces the EmitCheckedInBoundsGEP utility which inserts
    checks when the pointer overflow check is enabled.

  - It does some constant-folding to reduce instrumentation overhead.

  - It does not check some GEPs in CGExprCXX. I'm not sure that
    inserting checks here, or in CGClass, would catch many bugs.

Possible future directions for this check:

  - Introduce CGF.EmitCheckedStructGEP, to detect overflows when
    accessing structures.

Testing: Apart from the added lit test, I ran check-llvm and check-clang
with a stage2, ubsan-instrumented clang. Will and John have also done
extensive testing on numerous open source projects.

Alex Lorenz 9e7bf161ea Add #pragma clang attribute
This is a recommit of r300539 that was reverted in r300543 due to test failures.
The original commit message is displayed below:

The new '#pragma clang attribute' directive can be used to apply attributes to
multiple declarations. An attribute must satisfy the following conditions to
be supported by the pragma:
- It must have a subject list that's defined in the TableGen file.
- It must be documented.
- It must not be late parsed.
- It must have a GNU/C++11 spelling.

Vedant Kumar 4bb4e2c912 [docs] UBSan: Mention that print_stacktrace=1 is unsupported on Darwin
Printing out stack traces along with UBSan diagnostics is unsupported on
Darwin. That's because it isn't possible to use the fast unwinder or the
slow unwinder.

Apparently, it's inappropriate to use the fast unwinder for UBSan
issues. I'm not exactly sure why (see the comment in ubsan_diag.cc).
Forcing use of the fast unwinder produces decent results, AFAICT.

Darwin also does not appear to have a slow unwinder suitable for use
with the sanitizers. Apparently that's because of PR20800 [1][2]. But
that bug has been fixed. I'm not sure if there is anything preventing
use of the slow unwinder now.

Currently, passing UBSAN_OPTIONS=print_stacktrace=1 does nothing on
Darwin. This isn't good, but it might be a while before we can fix the
situation, so we should at least document it.

Bruno Cardoso Lopes 52dfe71645 [Driver] Add compiler option to generate a reproducer
One way to currently test the reproducers is to setup
"FORCE_CLANG_DIAGNOSTICS_CRASH=1" before invoking clang. This simulates
a crash and produces the same contents needed by the reproducers. The
reproducers are specially useful when triaging Modules issues, not only
on crashes, but also for reproducing misleading warnings, errors, etc.

Add a '-gen-reproducer' driver option to clang (or any similar name) and
give users a flag option.

Note that clang already has a -fno-crash-diagnostics, which disables the
crash reproducers. I've decided not to propose "-fcrash-diagnostics"
since it doesn't convey the ideia of reproduction despite a crash.

Adam Nemet 60d3264d5f Add #pragma clang fp
This adds the new pragma and the first variant, contract(on/off/fast).

The pragma has the same block scope rules as STDC FP_CONTRACT, i.e. it can be
placed at the beginning of a compound statement or at file scope.

Similarly to STDC FP_CONTRACT there is no need to use attributes. First an
annotate token is inserted with the parsed details of the pragma. Then the
annotate token is parsed in the proper contexts and the Sema is updated with
the corresponding FPOptions using the shared ActOn function with STDC
FP_CONTRACT.

After this the FPOptions from the Sema is propagated into the AST expression
nodes. There is no change here.

I was going to add a 'default' option besides 'on/off/fast' similar to STDC
FP_CONTRACT but then decided against it. I think that we'd have to make option
uppercase then to avoid using 'default' the keyword. Also because of the
scoped activation of pragma I am not sure there is really a need a for this.

Vedant Kumar 42c17ec5ac [ubsan] Add a nullability sanitizer
Teach UBSan to detect when a value with the _Nonnull type annotation
assumes a null value. Call expressions, initializers, assignments, and
return statements are all checked.

Because _Nonnull does not affect IRGen, the new checks are disabled by
default. The new driver flags are:

  -fsanitize=nullability-arg      (_Nonnull violation in call)
  -fsanitize=nullability-assign   (_Nonnull violation in assignment)
  -fsanitize=nullability-return (_Nonnull violation in return stmt)
  -fsanitize=nullability          (all of the above)

This patch builds on top of UBSan's existing support for detecting
violations of the nonnull attributes ('nonnull' and 'returns_nonnull'),
and relies on the compiler-rt support for those checks. Eventually we
will need to update the diagnostic messages in compiler-rt (there are
FIXME's for this, which will be addressed in a follow-up).

One point of note is that the nullability-return check is only allowed
to kick in if all arguments to the function satisfy their nullability
preconditions. This makes it necessary to emit some null checks in the
function body itself.

Testing: check-clang and check-ubsan. I also built some Apple ObjC
frameworks with an asserts-enabled compiler, and verified that we get
valid reports.

Some of the magic functions take arguments of arbitrary type. However,
for semantic correctness, the compiler still requires a declaration
of these functions with the correct type. Since C does not have
argument-type-overloaded function, this made those functions hard to
use in C code. Improve this situation by allowing arbitrary suffixes
in the affected magic functions' names, thus allowing the user to
create different declarations for different types.

In bigger projects like an Operating System, the same source code is
often compiled in slightly different ways. This could be the difference
between PIC and non-PIC code for static vs dynamic libraries, it could
also be the difference between size optimised versions of tools for
ramdisk images. At the moment, the compilation database has no way to
distinguish such cases. As first step, add a field in the JSON format
for it and process it accordingly.

Make the -print-libgcc-file-name option print an appropriate compiler
runtime library, that is libgcc.a if gcc runtime is used
and an appropriate compiler-rt library if that runtime is used.

The main use for this is to allow linking executables built with
-nodefaultlibs (e.g. to avoid linking to the standard C++ library) to
the compiler runtime library, e.g. using:

  clang++ ... -nodefaultlibs $(clang++ ... -print-libgcc-file-name)

in which case currently a program built like this linked to the gcc
runtime unconditionally. The patch fixes it to use compiler-rt libraries
instead when compiler-rt is the active runtime.

Original commit message:

Add -fdiagnostics-show-hotness

Summary:
I've recently added the ability for optimization remarks to include the
hotness of the corresponding code region. This uses PGO and allows
filtering of the optimization remarks by relevance. The idea was first
discussed here:
http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.compilers.llvm.devel/98334

The general goal is to produce a YAML file with the remarks. Then, an
external tool could dynamically filter these by hotness and perhaps by
other things.

That said it makes sense to also expose this at the more basic level
where we just include the hotness info with each optimization remark.
For example, in D22694, the clang flag was pretty useful to measure the
overhead of the additional analyses required to include hotness.
(Without the flag we don't even run the analyses.)

For the record, Hal has already expressed support for the idea of this
patch on IRC.

external tool could dynamically filter these by hotness and perhaps by
other things.

In this mode, there is no need to load any module map and the programmer can
simply use "@import" syntax to load the module directly from a prebuilt
module path. When loading from prebuilt module path, we don't support
rebuilding of the module files and we ignore compatible configuration
mismatches.

Aaron Ballman 4f6b3ecfd2 Despite there being an option, it seems that Sphinx has decided that "=123" is part of the option directive name, and so having "=0" in the option tag is problematic. Since the option tag is part of the option directive definition, it's superfluous, and so I've removed it.
