Anders Waldenborg 52ab7aa0ba [clang-format] Add BitFieldColonSpacing option
This new option allows controlling if there should be spaces around
the ':' in a bitfield declaration.

BitFieldColonSpacing accepts four different values:

  // "Both" - default
  unsigned bitfield : 5
  unsigned bf2      : 5  // AlignConsecutiveBitFields=true

  // "None"
  unsigned bitfield:5
  unsigned bf2     :5

  // "Before"
  unsigned bitfield :5
  unsigned bf2      :5

  // "After"
  unsigned bitfield: 5
  unsigned bf2     : 5

Jake Merdich 0c332a7784 [clang-format] Preserve whitespace in selected macros
Summary:
https://bugs.llvm.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46383

When the c preprocessor stringizes tokens, the generated string literals
are affected by the whitespace. This means clang-format can affect
codegen silently, adding spaces and newlines to strings. Practically
speaking, the vast majority of cases will be harmless, only affecting
single identifiers or debug macros.

In the interest of doing no harm in other cases though, this introduces
a blacklist option 'WhitespaceSensitiveMacros', which contains a list of
names of function-like macros whose contents should not be touched by
clang-format, period. Clang-format can't automatically detect these
without a real compile context, so users will have to specify it
explicitly (it still beats clang-format off'ing at every invocation).

Defaults include "STRINGIZE", "PP_STRINGIZE", and "BOOST_PP_STRINGIZE".

mydeveloperday b99bf0e08b [clang-format][PR45816] Add AlignConsecutiveBitFields
Summary:
The following revision follows D80115 since @MyDeveloperDay and I apparently both had the same idea at the same time, for https://bugs.llvm.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45816 and my efforts on tooling support for AMDVLK, respectively.

This option aligns adjacent bitfield separators across lines, in a manner similar to AlignConsecutiveAssignments and friends.

Example:
```
struct RawFloat {
  uint32_t sign : 1;
  uint32_t exponent : 8;
  uint32_t mantissa : 23;
};
```
would become
```
struct RawFloat {
  uint32_t sign     : 1;
  uint32_t exponent : 8;
  uint32_t mantissa : 23;
};
```

This also handles c++2a style bitfield-initializers with AlignConsecutiveAssignments.
```
struct RawFloat {
  uint32_t sign     : 1  = 0;
  uint32_t exponent : 8  = 127;
  uint32_t mantissa : 23 = 0;
}; // defaults to 1.0f
```

Things this change does not do:
 - Align multiple comma-chained bitfield variables. None of the other
   AlignConsecutive* options seem to implement that either.
 - Detect bitfields that have a width specified with something other
   than a numeric literal (ie, `int a : SOME_MACRO;`). That'd be fairly
   difficult to parse and is rare.

Summary:
Even when BreakBeforeBinaryOperators is set, AlignOperands kept

Daan De Meyer f21c704553 clang-format: Add ControlStatementsExceptForEachMacros option to SpaceBeforeParens
Summary: systemd recently added a clang-format file. One issue I
encountered in using clang-format on systemd is that systemd does
not add a space before the parens of their foreach macros but
clang-format always adds a space. This does not seem to be
configurable in clang-format. This revision adds the
ControlStatementsExceptForEachMacros option to SpaceBeforeParens
which puts a space before all control statement parens except
ForEach macros. This drastically reduces the amount of changes
when running clang-format on systemd's source code.

Summary:
From `clang-format` version 3.7.0 and up, , there is no way to keep following format of ObjectiveC block:
```
- (void)_aMethod
{
    [self.test1 t:self w:self callback:^(typeof(self) self, NSNumber *u, NSNumber *v) {
        u = c;
    }]
}
```
Regardless of the change in `.clang-format` configuration file, all parameters will be lined up so that colons will be on the same column, like following:
```
- (void)_aMethod
{
    [self.test1 t:self
                w:self
         callback:^(typeof(self) self, NSNumber *u, NSNumber *v) {
             u = c;
         }]
}
```

Considering with ObjectiveC, the first code style is cleaner & more readable for some people, I've added a config option: `ObjCDontBreakBeforeNestedBlockParam` (boolean) so that if it is enable, the first code style will be favored.

Martin Probst a324fcf1ae clang-format: insert trailing commas into containers.
Summary:
This change adds an option to insert trailing commas into container
literals. For example, in JavaScript:

    const x = [
      a,
      b,
       ^~~~~ inserted if missing.
    ]

This is implemented as a seperate post-processing pass after formatting
(because formatting might change whether the container literal does or
does not wrap). This keeps the code relatively simple and orthogonal,
though it has the notable drawback that the newly inserted comma is not
taken into account for formatting decisions (e.g. it might exceed the 80
char limit). To avoid exceeding the ColumnLimit, a comma is only
inserted if it fits into the limit.

Trailing comma insertion conceptually conflicts with argument
bin-packing: inserting a comma disables bin-packing, so we cannot do
both. clang-format rejects FormatStyle configurations that do both with
this change.

Martin Probst 02656f29ab clang-format: [JS] options for arrow functions.
Summary:
clang-format currently always wraps the body of non-empty arrow
functions:

    const x = () => {
      z();
    };

This change implements support for the `AllowShortLambdasOnASingleLine`
style options, controlling the indent style for arrow function bodies
that have one or fewer statements. SLS_All puts all on a single line,
SLS_Inline only arrow functions used in an inline position.

    const x = () => { z(); };

Multi-statement arrow functions continue to be wrapped. Function
expressions (`a = function() {}`) and function/method declarations are
unaffected as well.

mydeveloperday 14c044756e [clang-format] Add IndentCaseBlocks option
Summary:
The documentation for IndentCaseLabels claimed that the "Switch
statement body is always indented one level more than case labels". This
is technically false for the code block immediately following the label.
Its closing bracket aligns with the start of the label.

If the case label are not indented, it leads to a style where the
closing bracket of the block aligns with the closing bracket of the
switch statement, which can be hard to parse.

This change introduces a new option, IndentCaseBlocks, which when true
treats the block as a scope block (which it technically is).

Change the BraceWrappingFlags' AfterControlStatement from a bool to an enum with three values:

* "Never": This is the default, and does not do any brace wrapping after control statements.
* "MultiLine": This only wraps braces after multi-line control statements (this really only happens when a ColumnLimit is specified).
* "Always": This always wraps braces after control statements.

The first and last options are backwards-compatible with "false" and "true", respectively.

The new "MultiLine" option is useful for when a wrapped control statement's indentation matches the subsequent block's indentation. It makes it easier to see at a glance where the control statement ends and where the block's code begins. For example:

```
if (
  foo
  && bar )
{
  baz();
}
```

vs.

```
if (
  foo
  && bar ) {
  baz();
}
```

Short control statements (1 line) do not wrap the brace to the next line, e.g.

```
if (foo) {
  bar();
} else {
  baz();
}
```

Sam McCall e503256790 [ClangFormat] Future-proof Standard option, allow floating or pinning to arbitrary lang version
Summary:
The historical context:
- clang-format was written when C++11 was current,
  and the main language-version concern was >> vs > > template-closers.
  An option was added to allow selection of the 03/11 behavior, or auto-detection.
- there was no option to choose simply "latest standard" so anyone who didn't
  ever want 03 behavior or auto-detection specified Cpp11.
- In r185149 this option started to affect lexer mode.
- no options were added to cover c++14, as parsing/formatting
  didn't change that much. The usage of Cpp11 to mean "latest" became
  codified e.g. in r206263
- c++17 added some new constructs. These were mostly backwards-compatible and so
  not used in old programs, so having no way to turn them off was OK.
- c++20 added some new constructs and keywords (e.g. co_*) that changed the
  meaning of existing programs, and people started to complain that
  the c++20 parsing couldn't be turned off.

New plan:
 - Default ('Auto') behavior remains unchanged: parse as latest, format
   template-closers based on input.
 - Add new 'Latest' option that more clearly expresses the intent "use
   modern features" that many projects have chosen for their .clang-format files.
 - Allow pinning to *any* language version, using the same name as clang -std:
   c++03, c++11, c++14 etc. These set precise lexer options, and any
   clang-format code depending on these can use a >= check.
 - For backwards compatibility, `Cpp11` is an alias for `Latest`, not `c++11`.
   This matches the historical documented semantics of this option.
   This spelling (and `Cpp03`) are deprecated.

Paul Hoad 603650213b [clang-format] [PR43372] - clang-format shows replacements in DOS files when no replacement is needed
Summary:
This is a patch to fix PR43372 (https://bugs.llvm.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43372) - clang-format can't format file with includes, ( which really keep providing replacements for already sorted headers.)

A similar issue was addressed by @krasimir in {D60199}, however, this seemingly only prevented the issue when the files being formatted did not contain windows line endings (\r\n)

It's possible this is related to https://twitter.com/StephanTLavavej/status/1176722938243895296 given who @STL_MSFT works for!

As people often used the existence of replacements to determine if a file needs clang-formatting, this is probably pretty important for windows users

There may be a better way of comparing 2 strings and ignoring \r (which appear in both Results and Code), I couldn't choose between this idiom or the copy_if approach, but I'm happy to change it to whatever people consider more performant.

Paul Hoad 52e44b1423 [clang-format] Modified SortIncludes and IncludeCategories to priority for sorting #includes within the Group Category.
Summary:
This new Style rule is made as a part of adding support for NetBSD KNF in clang-format. NetBSD have it's own priority of includes which should be followed while formatting NetBSD code. This style sorts the Cpp Includes according to the priorities of NetBSD, as mentioned in the [Style Guide](http://cvsweb.netbsd.org/bsdweb.cgi/src/share/misc/style?rev=HEAD&content-type=text/x-cvsweb-markup)
 The working of this Style rule shown below:

**Configuration:**
This revision introduces a new field under IncludeCategories named `SortPriority` which defines the priority of ordering the `#includes` and the `Priority` will define the categories for grouping the `#include blocks`.

Yitzhak Mandelbaum 45b6ca5cd6 [clang-format] Fix cleanup of `AnnotatedLine` to include children nodes.
Summary:
AnnotatedLine has a tree structure, and things like the body of a lambda will be
a child of the lambda expression. For example,

    [&]() { foo(a); };

will have an AnnotatedLine with a child:

    [&]() {};
     '- foo(a);

Currently, when the `Cleaner` class analyzes the affected lines, it does not
cleanup the lines' children nodes, which results in missed cleanup
opportunities, like the lambda body in the example above.

This revision extends the algorithm to visit children, thereby fixing the above problem.

Sam McCall 04ee232ff2 clang-format: Add new style option AlignConsecutiveMacros
This option behaves similarly to AlignConsecutiveDeclarations and
AlignConsecutiveAssignments, aligning the assignment of C/C++

I've worked in many projects (embedded, mostly) where header files full
of large, well-aligned "#define" blocks are a common pattern. We
normally avoid using clang-format on these files, since it ruins any
existing alignment in said blocks. This style option will align "simple"
PP macros (no parameters) and PP macros with parameter lists on
consecutive lines.

Francois Ferrand e8a301f87f clang-format: better handle namespace macros
Summary:
Other macros are used to declare namespaces, and should thus be handled
similarly. This is the case for crpcut's TESTSUITE macro, or for
unittest-cpp's SUITE macro:

      TESTSUITE(Foo) {
      TEST(MyFirstTest) {
        assert(0);
      }
      } // TESTSUITE(Foo)

This patch deals with this cases by introducing a new option to specify
lists of namespace macros. Internally, it re-uses the system already in
place for foreach and statement macros, to ensure there is no impact on
performance.

Paul Hoad cbb726d0c5 [clang-format] Add basic support for formatting C# files
Summary:

This revision adds basic support for formatting C# files with clang-format, I know the barrier to entry is high here so I'm sending this revision in to test the water as to whether this might be something we'd consider landing.

Tracking in Bugzilla as:
https://bugs.llvm.org/show_bug.cgi?id=40850

Justification:
C# code just looks ugly in comparison to the C++ code in our source tree which is clang-formatted.

I've struggled with Visual Studio reformatting to get a clean and consistent style, I want to format our C# code on saving like I do now for C++ and i want it to have the same style as defined in our .clang-format file, so it consistent as it can be with C++. (Braces/Breaking/Spaces/Indent etc..)

Using clang format without this patch leaves the code in a bad state, sometimes when the BreakStringLiterals is set, it fails to compile.

Mostly the C# is similar to Java, except instead of JavaAnnotations I try to reuse the TT_AttributeSquare.

Almost the most valuable portion is to have a new Language in order to partition the configuration for C# within a common .clang-format file, with the auto detection on the .cs extension. But there are other C# specific styles that could be added later if this is accepted. in particular how `{ set;get }` is formatted.

Jordan Rupprecht 8bd97e752f [clang-format][NFC] Allow getLLVMStyle() to take a language
Summary:
getLLVMStyle() sets the default style, but doesn't take the language as a parameter, so can't set default parameters when they differ from C++. This change adds LanguageKind as an input to getLLVMStyle so that we can start doing that.

See D55964 as a motivation for this, where we want Tablegen to be formatted differently than C++.

Chandler Carruth 2946cd7010 Update the file headers across all of the LLVM projects in the monorepo
to reflect the new license.

We understand that people may be surprised that we're moving the header
entirely to discuss the new license. We checked this carefully with the
Foundation's lawyer and we believe this is the correct approach.

Essentially, all code in the project is now made available by the LLVM
project under our new license, so you will see that the license headers
include that license only. Some of our contributors have contributed
code under our old license, and accordingly, we have retained a copy of
our old license notice in the top-level files in each project and
repository.

 - Moves the vfs namespace from clang::vfs to llvm::vfs.

Francois Ferrand 6f40e21a16 clang-format: better handle statement macros
Summary:
Some macros are used in the body of function, and actually contain the trailing semicolon: they should thus be automatically followed by a new line, and not get merged with the next line. This is for example the case with Qt's Q_UNUSED macro:

  void foo(int a, int b) {
    Q_UNUSED(a)
    return b;
  }

This patch deals with these cases by introducing a new option to specify list of statement macros. This re-uses the system already in place for foreach macros, to ensure there is no impact on performance.

Eric Liu b4adc9110d [clang-format] Add a default format style that can be used by users of `getStyle`
Summary:
Tools that reformat code often call `getStyle` to decide the format style
to use on a certain source file. In practice, "file" style is widely used. As a
result, many tools hardcode "file" when calling `getStyle`, which makes it hard
to control the default style in tools across a codebase when needed. This change
introduces a `DefaultFormatStyle` constant (default to "file" in upstream), which
can be modified downstream if wanted, so that all users/tools built from the same
source tree can have a consistent default format style.

This also adds an DefaultFallbackStyle that is recommended to be used by tools and can be modified downstream.

Manuel Klimek 0dddcf78b8 Format closing braces when reformatting the line containing the opening brace.
This required a couple of yaks to be shaved:
1. MatchingOpeningBlockLineIndex was misused to also store the
   closing index; instead, use a second variable, as this doesn't
   work correctly for "} else {".
2. We needed to change the API of AffectedRangeManager to not
   use iterators; we always passed in begin / end for the whole
   container before, so there was no mismatch in generality.
3. We need an extra check to discontinue formatting at the top
   level, as we now sometimes change the indent of the closing
   brace, but want to bail out immediately afterwards, for
   example:
     void f() {
       if (a) {
     }
     void g();
   Previously:
     void f() {

Summary:
When I wrote `ObjCHeaderStyleGuesser`, I incorrectly assumed the
correct way to iterate over all tokens in `AnnotatedLine` was to
iterate over the linked list tokens starting with
`AnnotatedLine::First`.

However, `AnnotatedLine` also contains a vector
`AnnotedLine::Children` with child `AnnotedLine`s which have their own
tokens which we need to iterate over.

Because I didn't iterate over the tokens in the children lines, the
ObjC style guesser would fail on syntax like:

Summary:
This patch is a follow-up to r323319 (which disables string literal breaking for
text protos) and it disables breaking before long string literals.

For example this:
```
keyyyyy: "long string literal"
```
used to get broken into:
```
keyyyyy:
    "long string literal"
```

While at it, I also enabled it for LK_Proto and fixed a bug in the mustBreak code.

Ben Hamilton 4dc658ca52 [clang-format] New format param ObjCBinPackProtocolList
Summary:
This is an alternative approach to D42014 after some
investigation by stephanemoore@ and myself.

Previously, the format parameter `BinPackParameters` controlled both
C function parameter list bin-packing and Objective-C protocol conformance
list bin-packing.

We found in the Google style, some teams were changing
`BinPackParameters` from its default (`true`) to `false` so they could
lay out Objective-C protocol conformance list items one-per-line
instead of bin-packing them into as few lines as possible.

To allow teams to use one-per-line Objective-C protocol lists without
changing bin-packing for other areas like C function parameter lists,
this diff introduces a new LibFormat parameter
`ObjCBinPackProtocolList` to control the behavior just for ObjC
protocol conformance lists.

The new parameter is an enum which defaults to `Auto` to keep the
previous behavior (delegating to `BinPackParameters`).

Currently, clang-format with the google style aligns the method parameter names on the first column:

```
- (VeryLongReturnTypeName)
veryLongMethodParameter:(VeryLongParameterName)thisIsAVeryLongParameterName
    longMethodParameter:(LongParameterName)thisIsAlsoAnotherLongParameterName;
```

We'd like clang-format in the google style to align these to column 4 for Objective-C:

```
- (VeryLongReturnTypeName)
    veryLongMethodParameter:(VeryLongParameterName)thisIsAVeryLongParameterName
            longMethodParameter:(LongParameterName)thisIsAlsoAnotherLongParameterName;
Richard Smith c70f1d63f8 [c++20] P0515R3: Parsing support and basic AST construction for operator <=>.
Adding the new enumerator forced a bunch more changes into this patch than I
would have liked. The -Wtautological-compare warning was extended to properly
check the new comparison operator, clang-format needed updating because it uses
precedence levels as weights for determining where to break lines (and several
operators increased their precedence levels with this change), thread-safety
analysis needed changes to build its own IL properly for the new operator.
All "real" semantic checking for this operator has been deferred to a future
patch. For now, we use the relational comparison rules and arbitrarily give
the builtin form of the operator a return type of 'void'.
Krasimir Georgiev ad47c90767 clang-format: Add preprocessor directive indentation
Summary:
This is an implementation for [bug 17362](https://bugs.llvm.org/attachment.cgi?bugid=17362) which adds support for indenting preprocessor statements inside if/ifdef/endif. This takes previous work from fmauch (https://github.com/fmauch/clang/tree/preprocessor_indent) and makes it into a full feature.
The context of this patch is that I'm a VMware intern, and I implemented this because VMware needs the feature. As such, some decisions were made based on what VMware wants, and I would appreciate suggestions on expanding this if necessary to use-cases other people may want.
This adds a new enum config option, `IndentPPDirectives`. Values are:
* `PPDIS_None` (in config: `None`):
```
    #if FOO
    #if BAR
    #include <foo>
    #endif
    #endif
```
* `PPDIS_AfterHash` (in config: `AfterHash`):
```
    #if FOO
    #  if BAR
    #    include <foo>
    #  endif
    #endif
```
This is meant to work whether spaces or tabs are used for indentation. Preprocessor indentation is independent of indentation for non-preprocessor lines.
Preprocessor indentation also attempts to ignore include guards with the checks:
1. Include guards cover the entire file
2. Include guards don't have `#else`
3. Include guards begin with
```
#ifndef <var>
#define <var>
```
This patch allows `UnwrappedLineParser::PPBranchLevel` to be decremented to -1 (the initial value is -1) so the variable can be used for indent tracking.
Defects:
* This patch does not handle the case where there's code between the `#ifndef` and `#define` but all other conditions hold. This is because when the #define line is parsed, `UnwrappedLineParser::Lines` doesn't hold the previous code line yet, so we can't detect it. This is out of the scope of this patch.
* This patch does not handle cases where legitimate lines may be outside an include guard. Examples are `#pragma once` and `#pragma GCC diagnostic`, or anything else that does not change the meaning of the file if it's included multiple times.
* This does not detect when there is a single non-preprocessor line in front of an include-guard-like structure where other conditions hold because `ScopedLineState` hides the line.
* Preprocessor indentation throws off `TokenAnnotator::setCommentLineLevels` so the indentation of comments immediately before indented preprocessor lines is toggled on each run. Fixing this issue appears to be a major change and too much complexity for this patch.
