Chuang-Yu Cheng 35c6181982 Fix Sub-register Rewriting in Aggressive Anti-Dependence Breaker
Previously, HandleLastUse would delete RegRef information for sub-registers
if they were dead even if their corresponding super-register were still live.

If the super-register were later renamed, then the definitions of the
sub-register would not be updated appropriately. This patch alters the
behavior so that RegInfo information for sub-registers is only deleted when
the sub-register and super-register are both dead.

This resolves PR26775. This is the mirror image of Hal's r227311 commit.

Duncan P. N. Exon Smith 5e6e8c7a0a CodeGen: Use MachineInstr& in AntiDepBreaker API, NFC

Duncan P. N. Exon Smith 6307eb5518 CodeGen: TII: Take MachineInstr& in predicate API, NFC
Change TargetInstrInfo API to take `MachineInstr&` instead of
`MachineInstr*` in the functions related to predicated instructions
(I'll try to come back later and get some of the rest). All of these
functions require non-null parameters already, so references are more
clear. As a bonus, this happens to factor away a host of implicit
iterator => pointer conversions.

No functionality change intended.

Kyle Butt cf6a8bfe51 [CodeGen]: Fix bad interaction with AntiDep breaking and inline asm.
AggressiveAntiDepBreaker was renaming registers specified by the user
for inline assembly. While this will work for compiler-specified
registers, it won't work for user-specified registers, and at the time
this runs, I don't currently see a way to distinguish them.

Matthias Braun d9da162789 Save LaneMask with livein registers
With subregister liveness enabled we can detect the case where only
parts of a register are live in, this is expressed as a 32bit lanemask.
The current code only keeps registers in the live-in list and therefore
enumerated all subregisters affected by the lanemask. This turned out to
be too conservative as the subregister may also cover additional parts
of the lanemask which are not live. Expressing a given lanemask by
enumerating a minimum set of subregisters is computationally expensive
so the best solution is to simply change the live-in list to store the
lanemasks as well. This will reduce memory usage for targets using
subregister liveness and slightly increase it for other targets

Hal Finkel e0a28e54c7 [AggressiveAntiDepBreaker] Check for EarlyClobber on defining instruction
AggressiveAntiDepBreaker was doing some EarlyClobber checking, but was not
checking that the register being potentially renamed was defined by an

register being considered as the target of the rename. Fixes PR24014.

Matthias Braun 111f5d88fb MachineFrameInfo: Simplify pristine register calculation.
About pristine regsiters:
Pristine registers "hold a value that is useless to the current
function, but that must be preserved - they are callee saved registers
that have not been saved." This concept saves compile time as it frees
the prologue/epilogue inserter from adding every such register to every
basic blocks live-in list.

However the current code in getPristineRegs is formulated in a
complicated way: Inside the function prologue and epilogue all callee
saves are considered pristine, while in the rest of the code only the
non-saved ones are considered pristine. This requires logic to
differentiate between prologue/epilogue and the rest and in the presence
of shrink-wrapping this even becomes complicated/expensive. It's also
unnecessary because the prologue epilogue inserters already mark
callee-save registers that are saved/restores properly in the respective
blocks in the prologue/epilogue (see updateLiveness() in
PrologueEpilogueInserter.cpp). So only declaring non-saved/restored
callee saved registers as pristine just works.

Hal Finkel 34c94d5caa Correct the AggressiveAntiDepBreaker's handling of subregisters defining super registers
As the AggressiveAntiDepBreaker iterated backward through a scheduling region,
we must leave super registers live through subregister definitions so that all
relevant subregister definitions are renamed together. The problem was that we
were also discarding sub-register use locations as the sub-registers are
redefined. The result is that we'd rename the super register along with some,
but not all, subregister definitions.

As demonstrated by this example, this is also somewhat unfortunate, because
there is actually no need to rename the super register in this case (it is
fully covered by later subregister definitions), but we don't seem to track
enough information here to exploit that either.

Thanks to Daniil Troshkov for reporting the issue. The debug outputs in this
commit message are from Daniil.

Hal Finkel c8cf2b88bc Handle early-clobber registers in the aggressive anti-dep breaker
The aggressive anti-dep breaker, used by the PowerPC backend during post-RA
scheduling (but is available to all targets), did not handle early-clobber MI
operands (at all). When constructing the list of available registers for the
replacement of some def operand, check the using instructions, and remove
registers assigned to early-clobbered defs from the set.

Fixes PR21452.

Will Schmidt 44ff8f06ec Disable IsSub subregister assert. pr18663.
This is a follow-up to the activity in the bug at
http://llvm.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=18663 . The underlying issue has
to do with how the KILL pseudo-instruction is handled. I defer to
Hal/Jakob/Uli for additional details and background.

This will disable the (bad?) assert, add an associated fixme comment,
and add a pair of tests.

The code change and the pr18663-2.ll test are copied from the referenced
bug. That test does not immediately fail in my environment, but I have
added the pr18663.ll test which does.

(Comment from Hal)
to provide everyone else with some context, this assert was not bad when
it was written. At that time, we only generated KILL pseudo instructions
around subregister copies. This logic, unfortunately, had its own problems.
In r199797, the relevant logic in MachineCopyPropagation was replaced to
generate KILLs for other kinds of copies too. This change in semantics broke
this now-problematic assumption in AggressiveAntiDepBreaker. The
AggressiveAntiDepBreaker really needs a proper cleanup to deal with the
change, but removing the assert (which just allows the function to return
false) is a safe conservative behavior, and should do for the time being.

Hal Finkel 121caf6313 Fix the aggressive anti-dep breaker's subregister definition handling
The aggressive anti-dependency breaker scans instructions, bottom-up, within the
scheduling region in order to find opportunities where register renaming can
be used to break anti-dependencies.

Unfortunately, the aggressive anti-dep breaker was treating a register definition
as defining all of that register's aliases (including super registers). This behavior
is incorrect when the super register is live and there are other definitions of
subregisters of the super register.

For example, given the following sequence:

%CR2EQ<def> = CROR %CR3UN, %CR3UN<kill>
%CR2GT<def> = IMPLICIT_DEF
%X4<def> = MFOCRF8 %CR2

the analysis of the first subregister definition would work as expected:
Anti: %CR2GT<def> = IMPLICIT_DEF
        Def Groups: CR2GT=g194->g0(via CR2)
        Antidep reg: CR2GT (zero group)
        Use Groups:

but the analysis of the second one would not:
Anti: %CR2EQ<def> = CROR %CR3UN, %CR3UN<kill>
        Def Groups: CR2EQ=g195
        Antidep reg: CR2EQ
Rename Candidates for Group g195: ...

because, when processing the %CR2GT<def>, we'd mark all super registers of
%CR2GT (%CR2 in this case) as defined. As a result, when processing
%CR2EQ<def>, %CR2 no longer appears to be live, and %CR2EQ<def>'s group is not
%unioned with the %CR2 group.

I don't have an in-tree test case for this yet (and even if I did, I don't have
a small one).

Jakob Stoklund Olesen 54038d796c Switch all register list clients to the new MC*Iterator interface.
No functional change intended.

Sorry for the churn. The iterator classes are supposed to help avoid
giant commits like this one in the future. The TableGen-produced
register lists are getting quite large, and it may be necessary to
change the table representation.

This makes it possible to do so without changing all clients (again).

Jakob Stoklund Olesen 3c52f0281f Add an MF argument to TRI::getPointerRegClass() and TII::getRegClass().
The getPointerRegClass() hook can return register classes that depend on
the calling convention of the current function (ptr_rc_tailcall).

So far, we have been able to infer the calling convention from the
subtarget alone, but as we add support for multiple calling conventions
per target, that no longer works.

Evan Cheng 00b1a3cd7e Added a late machine instruction copy propagation pass. This catches
opportunities that only present themselves after late optimizations
such as tail duplication .e.g.
## BB#1:
        movl %eax, %ecx
        movl %ecx, %eax
        ret

The register allocator also leaves some of them around (due to false
dep between copies from phi-elimination, etc.)

This required some changes in codegen passes. Post-ra scheduler and the
pseudo-instruction expansion passes have been moved after branch folding
and tail merging. They were before branch folding before because it did
not always update block livein's. That's fixed now. The pass change makes
independently since we want to properly schedule instructions after
branch folding / tail duplication.

Evan Cheng 7f8e563a69 Add bundle aware API for querying instruction properties and switch the code
generator to it. For non-bundle instructions, these behave exactly the same
as the MC layer API.

For properties like mayLoad / mayStore, look into the bundle and if any of the
bundled instructions has the property it would return true.
For properties like isPredicable, only return true if *all* of the bundled
instructions have the property.
For properties like canFoldAsLoad, isCompare, conservatively return false for
bundles.
