This reverts commit 658af94350.
Breaks tests on windows: http://45.33.8.238/win/17229/step_9.txt
I think this is uncovering a latent bug when a late-parsed preamble is
used with an eagerly-parsed file.
Summary:
Parsing std::make_unique is an exception to the usual non-parsing of function
bodies in the preamble. (A hook is added to PreambleCallbacks to allow this).
This allows us to diagnose make_unique<Foo>(wrong arg list), and opens the door
to providing signature help (by detecting where the arg list is forwarded to).
This function is trivial (checked libc++ and libstdc++) and doesn't result in
any extra templates being instantiated, so this should be cheap.
This uncovered a second issue (already visible with class templates)...
Errors produced by template instantiation have primary locations within the
template, with instantiation stack reported as notes.
For templates defined in headers, these end up reported at the #include
directive, which isn't terribly helpful as the header itself is probably fine.
This patch reports them at the instantiation site (the first location in the
instantiation stack that's in the main file). This in turn required a bit of
refactoring in Diagnostics so we can delay relocating the diagnostic until all
notes are available.

Differential Revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D81351
Retrieving the parameter location of functions was disabled because it
may causes crashes due to the fact that functions may have multiple
declarations and without definition it is difficult to ensure that
always the same declration is used. Now parameters are stored in
`ParamRegions` which are independent of the declaration of the function,
therefore the same parameters always have the same regions,
independently of the function declaration used actually. This allows us
to remove the limitation described above.
Differential Revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D80286
Currently, parameters of functions without their definition present cannot
be represented as regions because it would be difficult to ensure that the
same declaration is used in every case. To overcome this, we split
`VarRegion` to two subclasses: `NonParamVarRegion` and `ParamVarRegion`.
The latter does not store the `Decl` of the parameter variable. Instead it
stores the index of the parameter which enables retrieving the actual
`Decl` every time using the function declaration of the stack frame. To
achieve this we also removed storing of `Decl` from `DeclRegion` and made
`getDecl()` pure virtual. The individual `Decl`s are stored in the
appropriate subclasses, such as `FieldRegion`, `ObjCIvarRegion` and the
newly introduced `NonParamVarRegion`.

DiagnosticErrorTrap is usually inappropriate because it indicates
whether an error message was rendered in a given region (and is
therefore affected by -ferror-limit and by suppression of errors if we
see an invalid declaration).
hasErrorOccurred() is usually inappropriate because it indicates
whethere an "error:" message was displayed, regardless of whether the
message was a warning promoted to an error, and therefore depends on
things like -Werror that are usually irrelevant.
Where applicable, CodeSynthesisContexts are used to attach notes to
the first diagnostic produced in a region of code, isnstead of using an
error trap and then attaching a note to whichever diagnostic happened to
be produced last (or suppressing the note if the final diagnostic is a
disabled warning!).
This is mostly NFC.

Reliably mark the loop variable declaration in a range for as having an
invalid initializer if anything goes wrong building the initializer. We
previously based this determination on whether an error was emitted,
which is not a reliable signal due to error suppression (during error
recovery etc).
Also, properly mark the variable as having initializer errors rather
than simply marking it invalid. This is necessary to mark any structured
bindings as invalid too.

Summary:
This fixes pr33372.cpp under the new pass manager.
ASan adds padding to globals. For example, it will change a {i32, i32, i32} to a {{i32, i32, i32}, [52 x i8]}. However, when loading from the {i32, i32, i32}, InstCombine may (after various optimizations) end up loading 16 bytes instead of 12, likely because it thinks the [52 x i8] padding is ok to load from. But ASan checks that padding should not be loaded from.
Ultimately this is an issue of *San passes wanting to be run after all optimizations. This change moves the module passes right next to the corresponding function passes.
Also remove comment that's no longer relevant, this is the last ASan/MSan/TSan failure under the NPM (hopefully...).
As mentioned in https://reviews.llvm.org/rG1285e8bcac2c54ddd924ffb813b2b187467ac2a6, NPM doesn't support LTO + sanitizers, so modified some tests that test for that.

To support std::complex and some other standard C/C++ functions in HIP device code,
they need to be forced to be __host__ __device__ functions by pragmas. This is done
by some clang standard C++ wrapper headers which are shared between cuda-clang and hip-Clang.
For these standard C++ wapper headers to work properly, specific include path order
has to be enforced:
clang C++ wrapper include path
standard C++ include path

Also, these C++ wrapper headers require device version of some standard C/C++ functions
must be declared before including them. This needs to be done by including a default
header which declares or defines these device functions. The default header is always
included before any other headers are included by users.

D wins over HD and H
HD and H are equal
this caused regression when there is an otherwise worse D candidate
This patch changes that to
D, HD and H are all equal
The rationale is that we already know for host compilation there is already
a valid candidate in HD and H candidates that will not cause error. Allowing
HD and H gives us a fall back candidate that will not cause error. If D wins,
that means D has to be a better match otherwise, therefore D should also

Previously, this would fail if the builtin headers had been "claimed" by
a different module that wraps these builtin headers. libc++ does this,
for example.
This change adds a test demonstrating this situation; the test fails
without the fix.
constexpr variables are compile time constants and implicitly const, therefore
they are safe to emit on both device and host side. Besides, in many cases
they are intended for both device and host, therefore it makes sense
to emit them on both device and host sides if necessary.
In most cases constexpr variables are used as rvalue and the variables
themselves do not need to be emitted. However if their address is taken,
then they need to be emitted.
For C++14, clang is able to handle that since clang emits them with
available_externally linkage together with the initializer.
However for C++17, the constexpr static data member of a class or template class
become inline variables implicitly. Therefore they become definitions with
linkonce_odr or weak_odr linkages. As such, they can not have available_externally
linkage.
This patch fixes that by adding implicit constant attribute to
file scope constexpr variables and constexpr static data members
in device compilation.

When sampleFDO is enabled, people may expect they can use
-fno-profile-sample-use to opt-out using sample profile for a certain file.
That could be either for debugging purpose or for performance tuning purpose.
However, when thinlto is enabled, if a function in file A compiled with
-fno-profile-sample-use is imported to another file B compiled with
-fprofile-sample-use, the inlined copy of the function in file B may still
get its profile annotated.
The inconsistency may even introduce profile unused warning because if the
target is not compiled with explicit debug information flag, the function
in file A won't have its debug information enabled (debug information will
be enabled implicitly only when -fprofile-sample-use is used). After it is
imported into file B which is compiled with -fprofile-sample-use, profile
annotation for the outline copy of the function will fail because the
function has no debug information, and that will trigger profile unused
warning.
We add a new attribute use-sample-profile to control whether a function
will use its sample profile no matter for its outline or inline copies.
That will make the behavior of -fno-profile-sample-use consistent.

Summary:
An upgrade of LLVM for CrOS [0] containing [1] triggered a bunch of
errors related to writing to reserved registers for a Linux kernel's
arm64 compat vdso (which is a aarch32 image).
After a discussion on LKML [2], it was determined that
-f{no-}omit-frame-pointer was not being specified. Comparing GCC and
Clang [3], it becomes apparent that GCC defaults to omitting the frame
pointer implicitly when optimizations are enabled, and Clang does not.
ie. setting -O1 (or above) implies -fomit-frame-pointer. Clang was
defaulting to -fno-omit-frame-pointer implicitly unless -fomit-frame-pointer
was set explicitly.
Why this becomes a problem is that the Linux kernel's arm64 compat vdso
contains code that uses r7. r7 is used sometimes for the frame pointer
(for example, when targeting thumb (-mthumb)). See useR7AsFramePointer()
in llvm/llvm-project/llvm/lib/Target/ARM/ARMSubtarget.h. This is mostly
for legacy/compatibility reasons, and the 2019 Q4 revision of the ARM
AAPCS looks to standardize r11 as the frame pointer for aarch32, though
this is not yet implemented in LLVM.
Users that are reliant on the implicit value if unspecified when
optimizations are enabled should explicitly choose -fomit-frame-pointer
(new behavior) or -fno-omit-frame-pointer (old behavior).

Directly follow the wording by relaxing the AST invariant that all
parameters after one with a default arguemnt also have default
arguments, and removing the diagnostic on missing default arguments
on a pack-expanded parameter following a parameter with a default
argument.
Testing also revealed that we need to special-case explicit
specializations of templates with a pack following a parameter with a
default argument, as such explicit specializations are otherwise
impossible to write. The standard wording doesn't address this case; a
issue has been filed.
This exposed a bug where we would briefly consider a parameter to have
no default argument while we parse a delay-parsed default argument for
that parameter, which is also fixed.

These cases all follow the same pattern:
struct A {
friend class X;
//...
class X {};
};
But 'friend class X;' injects 'X' into the surrounding namespace scope,
rather than introducing a class member. So the second 'class X {}' is a
completely different type, which changes the meaning of the earlier name
'X' from '::X' to 'A::X'.
Additionally, the friend declaration is pointless -- members of a class
don't need to be befriended to be able to access private members.
Canonicalize on storing FP options in LangOptions instead of
redundantly in CodeGenOptions. Incorporate -ffast-math directly
into the values of those LangOptions rather than considering it
separately when building FPOptions. Build IR attributes from
those options rather than a mix of sources.
We should really simplify the driver/cc1 interaction here and have
the driver pass down options that cc1 directly honors. That can
happen in a follow-up, though.

This patch implements matrix index expressions
(matrix[RowIdx][ColumnIdx]).
It does so by introducing a new MatrixSubscriptExpr(Base, RowIdx, ColumnIdx).
MatrixSubscriptExprs are built in 2 steps in ActOnMatrixSubscriptExpr. First,
if the base of a subscript is of matrix type, we create a incomplete
MatrixSubscriptExpr(base, idx, nullptr). Second, if the base is an incomplete
MatrixSubscriptExpr, we create a complete
MatrixSubscriptExpr(base->getBase(), base->getRowIdx(), idx)
Similar to vector elements, it is not possible to take the address of
a MatrixSubscriptExpr.
For CodeGen, a new MatrixElt type is added to LValue, which is very
similar to VectorElt. The only difference is that we may need to cast
the type of the base from an array to a vector type when accessing it.

If you are in the middle of editing and somehow you've missed a { or } in your code, somewhere, often way below where you are at the bottom of your file the namespace comment fixer will have put the namespace on the previous closing brace.
This leads to you having to fix up the bottom of the file.
This revision prevents that happening by performing an initial pass of the tokens and simply counting the number of `{` and `}` and ensuring they balance.

This patch allows clang to compile programs that contain
#include <math.h>
with -mfloat128 which it currently fails to compile.

New logic tries to narrow possible result values of the remainder operation
based on its operands and their ranges. It also tries to be conservative

Summary:
This change introduces a new component to unite all of the reasoning
we have about operations on ranges in the analyzer's solver.
In many cases, we might conclude that the range for a symbolic operation
is much more narrow than the type implies. While reasoning about
runtime conditions (especially in loops), we need to support more and
more of those little pieces of logic. The new component mostly plays
a role of an organizer for those, and allows us to focus on the actual
reasoning about ranges and not dispatching manually on the types of the
nested symbolic expressions.

D76801 caused some regressions in debuginfo compatibility by changing how
certain functions were named.
For CodeView we try to mirror MSVC exactly: this was fixed in a549c0d004
For DWARF the situation is murkier. Per David Blaikie:
> In general DWARF doesn't specify this at all.

> This isn't the only naming divergence between GCC and Clang
Nevertheless, including the space seems to provide better compatibility with
GCC and GDB. E.g. cpexprs.cc in the GDB testsuite requires this formatting.
And there was no particular desire to change the printing of names in debug
info in the first place (just in diagnostics and other more user-facing text).

Summary: Before this patch, we use two different ways to pass options to align branch
depending on whether LTO is enabled. For example, `-mbranches-within-32B-boundaries`
w/o LTO and `-Wl,-plugin-opt=-x86-branches-within-32B-boundaries` w/ LTO. It's
inconvenient, so this patch unifies the way: we only need to pass options like

Unlike other platforms using ItaniumCXXABI, Darwin does not allow the
creation of a thread-wrapper function for a variable in the TU of
users. Because of this, it can set the linkage of the thread-local
symbol to internal, with the assumption that no TUs other than the one
defining the variable will need it.
However, constinit thread_local variables do not require the use of
the thread-wrapper call, so users reference the variable
directly. Thus, it must not be converted to internal, or users will
get a link failure.
This was a regression introduced by the optimization in

And bump its version number accordingly.
This is a patched recommit of 7c298c104b
Previous hash implementation was incorrectly passing an uint64_t, that got converted
to an uint8_t, to finalize the hash computation. This led to different functions
having the same hash if they only differ by the remaining statements, which is
incorrect.
Added a new test case that trivially tests that a small function change is
reflected in the hash value.
Not that as this patch fixes the hash computation, it would invalidate all hashes
computed before that patch applies, this is why we bumped the version number.
Update profile data hash entries due to hash function update, except for binary
version, in which case we keep the buggy behavior for backward compatibility.

If you remember the mail [1] I sent out about how I envision the future of the
already existing checkers to look dependencywise, one my main points was that no
checker that emits diagnostics should be a dependency. This is more problematic
for some checkers (ahem, RetainCount [2]) more than for others, like this one.
The MallocChecker family is a mostly big monolithic modeling class some small
reporting checkers that only come to action when we are constructing a warning
message, after the actual bug was detected. The implication of this is that
NewDeleteChecker doesn't really do anything to depend on, so this change was
relatively simple.
The only thing that complicates this change is that FreeMemAux (MallocCheckers
method that models general memory deallocation) returns after calling a bug
reporting method, regardless whether the report was ever emitted (which may not
always happen, for instance, if the checker responsible for the report isn't
enabled). This return unfortunately happens before cleaning up the maps in the
GDM keeping track of the state of symbols (whether they are released, whether
that release was successful, etc). What this means is that upon disabling some
checkers, we would never clean up the map and that could've lead to false
positives, e.g.:
error: 'warning' diagnostics seen but not expected:
File clang/test/Analysis/NewDelete-intersections.mm Line 66: Potential leak of memory pointed to by 'p'
File clang/test/Analysis/NewDelete-intersections.mm Line 73: Potential leak of memory pointed to by 'p'
File clang/test/Analysis/NewDelete-intersections.mm Line 77: Potential leak of memory pointed to by 'p'
error: 'warning' diagnostics seen but not expected:
File clang/test/Analysis/NewDelete-checker-test.cpp Line 111: Undefined or garbage value returned to caller
File clang/test/Analysis/NewDelete-checker-test.cpp Line 200: Potential leak of memory pointed to by 'p'
error: 'warning' diagnostics seen but not expected:
File clang/test/Analysis/new.cpp Line 137: Potential leak of memory pointed to by 'x'
There two possible approaches I had in mind:
Make bug reporting methods of MallocChecker returns whether they succeeded, and
proceed with the rest of FreeMemAux if not,
Halt execution with a sink node upon failure. I decided to go with this, as
described in the code.
As you can see from the removed/changed test files, before the big checker
dependency effort landed, there were tests to check for all the weird
configurations of enabled/disabled checkers and their messy interactions, I
largely repurposed these.

Similarly to other patches of mine, I'm trying to uniformize the checker
interface so that dependency checkers don't emit diagnostics. The checker that
made me most anxious so far was definitely RetainCount, because it is definitely
impacted by backward compatibility concerns, and implements a checker hierarchy
that is a lot different to other examples of similar size. Also, I don't have
authority, nor expertise regarding ObjC related code, so I welcome any
objection/discussion!
