Markus Böck e59335e891 [clang][DR] Add test for DR1227 and mark it as complete
DR: http://www.open-std.org/jtc1/sc22/wg21/docs/cwg_defects.html#1227

This DR has been implemented in Clang as far back as I could check. This patch simply adds a test and comment to mark it as complete.

Corentin Jabot 683e83c56f [Clang][C++2b] P2242R3: Non-literal variables [...] in constexpr
Allow goto, labelled statements as well as `static`, `thread_local`, and
non-literal variables in `constexpr` functions.

As specified. for all of the above (except labelled statements) constant
evaluation of the construct still fails.

For `constexpr` bodies, the proposal is implemented with diagnostics as
a language extension in older language modes. For determination of
whether a lambda body satisfies the requirements for a constexpr
function, the proposal is implemented only in C++2b mode to retain the
semantics of older modes for programs conforming to them.

Nathan Sidwell 21e16ab6b8 [clang][ABI] New C++20 module mangling scheme
The existing module symbol mangling scheme turns out to be
undemangleable. It is also desirable to switch to the
strong-ownership model as the hoped-for C++17 compatibility turns out
to be fragile, and we also now have a better way of controlling that.

The issue is captured on the ABI list at:
  https://github.com/itanium-cxx-abi/cxx-abi/issues/134

A document describing the issues and new mangling is at:
  https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qQjqptzOFT_lfXH8L6-iD9nCRi34wjft/view

This patch is the code-generation part. I have a demangler too, but
that patch is based on some to-be-landed refactoring of the demangler.

The old mangling is unceremoniously dropped. No backwards
compatibility, no deprectated old-mangling flag. It was always
labelled experimental. (Old and new manglings cannot be confused.)

Nathan Sidwell 5fbe21a774 [clang] p2085 out-of-class comparison operator defaulting
This implements p2085, allowing out-of-class defaulting of comparison
operators, primarily so they need not be inline, IIUC intent. this was
mostly straigh forward, but required reimplementing
Sema::CheckExplicitlyDefaultedComparison, as now there's a case where
we have no a priori clue as to what class a defaulted comparison may
be for. We have to inspect the parameter types to find out. Eg:

class X { ... };
bool operator==(X, X) = default;

Thus reimplemented the parameter type checking, and added 'is this a
friend' functionality for the above case.

Aaron Ballman 6c75ab5f66 Introduce _BitInt, deprecate _ExtInt
WG14 adopted the _ExtInt feature from Clang for C23, but renamed the
type to be _BitInt. This patch does the vast majority of the work to
rename _ExtInt to _BitInt, which accounts for most of its size. The new
type is exposed in older C modes and all C++ modes as a conforming
extension. However, there are functional changes worth calling out:

* Deprecates _ExtInt with a fix-it to help users migrate to _BitInt.
* Updates the mangling for the type.
* Updates the documentation and adds a release note to warn users what
is going on.
* Adds new diagnostics for use of _BitInt to call out when it's used as
a Clang extension or as a pre-C23 compatibility concern.
* Adds new tests for the new diagnostic behaviors.

I want to call out the ABI break specifically. We do not believe that
this break will cause a significant imposition for early adopters of
the feature, and so this is being done as a full break. If it turns out
there are critical uses where recompilation is not an option for some
reason, we can consider using ABI tags to ease the transition.

Other uses of forcing HasEmptyPlaceHolder to false seem OK to me -
they're all around pointer/reference types where the pointer/reference
token will appear at the rightmost side of the left side of the type

though there is a non-empty placeholder (because the "*" is essentially
the placeholder as far as the "int" is concerned).

outside of clang - lldb seems to have some strange/strong dependence on
"char [N]" versus "char[N]" when printing strings (not due to that name
appearing in DWARF, but probably due to using clang to stringify type
names) that'll need to be addressed, plus a few other odds and ends in
other subprojects (clang-tools-extra, compiler-rt, etc).

treat a "char[N]" type as an array of chars (prints them out

Other uses of forcing HasEmptyPlaceHolder to false seem OK to me -
they're all around pointer/reference types where the pointer/reference

though there is a non-empty placeholder (because the "*" is essentially

The maximal representable alignment in LLVM IR is 1GiB, not 512MiB
In LLVM IR, `AlignmentBitfieldElementT` is 5-bit wide
But that means that the maximal alignment exponent is `(1<<5)-2`,
which is `30`, not `29`. And indeed, alignment of `1073741824`
roundtrips IR serialization-deserialization.

While this doesn't seem all that important, this doubles
the maximal supported alignment from 512MiB to 1GiB,
and there's actually one noticeable use-case for that;
On X86, the huge pages can have sizes of 2MiB and 1GiB (!).

So while this doesn't add support for truly huge alignments,
which i think we can easily-ish do if wanted, i think this adds
zero-cost support for a not-trivially-dismissable case.

I don't believe we need any upgrade infrastructure,
and since we don't explicitly record the IR version,
we don't need to bump one either.

As @craig.topper speculates in D108661#2963519,
this might be an artificial limit imposed by the original implementation
of the `getAlignment()` functions.

Sam McCall 13a86c2bb4 [Sema] Preserve invalid CXXCtorInitializers using RecoveryExpr in initializer
Before this patch, CXXCtorInitializers that don't typecheck get discarded in
most cases. In particular:

 - typos that can't be corrected don't turn into RecoveryExpr. The full expr
   disappears instead, and without an init expr we discard the node.
 - initializers that fail initialization (e.g. constructor overload resolution)
   are discarded too.

This patch addresses both these issues (a bit clunkily and repetitively, for
member/base/delegating initializers)

It does not preserve any AST nodes when the member/base can't be resolved or
other problems of that nature. That breaks invariants of CXXCtorInitializer
itself, and we don't have a "weak" RecoveryCtorInitializer like we do for Expr.

I believe the changes to diagnostics in existing tests are improvements.

Matheus Izvekov 03282f2fe1 [clang] C++98 implicit moves are back with a vengeance
After taking C++98 implicit moves out in D104500,
we put it back in, but now in a new form which preserves
compatibility with pure C++98 programs, while at the same time
giving almost all the goodies from P1825.

* We use the exact same rules as C++20 with regards to which
  id-expressions are move eligible. The previous
  incarnation would only benefit from the proper subset which is
  copy ellidable. This means we can implicit move, in addition:
  * Parameters.
  * RValue references.
  * Exception variables.
  * Variables with higher-than-natural required alignment.
  * Objects with different type from the function return type.
* We preserve the two-overload resolution, with one small tweak to the
  first one: If we either pick a (possibly converting) constructor which
  does not take an rvalue reference, or a user conversion operator which
  is not ref-qualified, we abort into the second overload resolution.

This gives C++98 almost all the implicit move patterns which we had created test
cases for, while at the same time preserving the meaning of these
three patterns, which are found in pure C++98 programs:
* Classes with both const and non-const copy constructors, but no move
  constructors, continue to have their non-const copy constructor
  selected.
* We continue to reject as ambiguous the following pattern:
```
struct A { A(B &); };
struct B { operator A(); };
A foo(B x) { return x; }
```
* We continue to pick the copy constructor in the following pattern:
```
class AutoPtrRef { };
struct AutoPtr {
  AutoPtr(AutoPtr &);
  AutoPtr();
  AutoPtr(AutoPtrRef);
  operator AutoPtrRef();
};
AutoPtr test_auto_ptr() {
  AutoPtr p;
  return p;
}
According to Motion 23 from Cologne 2019, P1825R0 was accepted as a Defect Report, so we retroactively apply this all the way back to C++11.
Note that we also remove implicit moves from C++98 as an extension
altogether, since the expanded first overload resolution from P1825
can cause some meaning changes in C++98.
For example it can change which copy constructor is picked when both const
and non-const ones are available.
This also rips out warn_return_std_move since there are no cases where it would be worthwhile to suggest it.
This also fixes a bug with bailing into the second overload resolution
Word on the grapevine was that the committee had some discussion that
ended with unanimous agreement on eliminating relational function pointer comparisons.
We wanted to be bold and just ban all of them cold turkey.
But then we chickened out at the last second and are going for
eliminating just the spaceship overload candidate instead, for now.
See D104680 for reference.
This should be fine and "safe", because the only possible semantic change this
would cause is that overload resolution could possibly be ambiguous if
there was another viable candidate equally as good.
But to save face a little we are going to:
* Issue an "error" for three-way comparisons on function pointers.
  But all this is doing really is changing one vague error message,
  from an "invalid operands to binary expression" into an
  "ordered comparison of function pointers", which sounds more like we mean business.
* Otherwise "warn" that comparing function pointers like that is totally
  not cool (unless we are told to keep quiet about this).
