Teresa Johnson 3d4bba302d [MemProf] Memory profiling runtime support
See RFC for background:
http://lists.llvm.org/pipermail/llvm-dev/2020-June/142744.html

Follow on companion to the clang/llvm instrumentation support in D85948
and committed earlier.

This patch adds the compiler-rt runtime support for the memory
profiling.

Note that much of this support was cloned from asan (and then greatly
simplified and renamed). For example the interactions with the
sanitizer_common allocators, error handling, interception, etc.

The bulk of the memory profiling specific code can be found in the
MemInfoBlock, MemInfoBlockCache, and related classes defined and used
in memprof_allocator.cpp.

For now, the memory profile is dumped to text (stderr by default, but
honors the sanitizer_common log_path flag). It is dumped in either a
default verbose format, or an optional terse format.

This patch also adds a set of tests for the core functionality.

Lit failures:

```
TestCases/Linux/malloc_delete_mismatch.cpp - asan works, but backtrace misses some calls
TestCases/Linux/static_tls.cpp - "Can't guess glibc version" (under debugging)
Petr Hosek 3c7bfbd683 [CMake] Use find_library for ncurses
Currently it is hard to avoid having LLVM link to the system install of
ncurses, since it uses check_library_exists to find e.g. libtinfo and
With this change the ncurses lib is found with find_library, which also
considers CMAKE_PREFIX_PATH. This solves an issue for the spack package
provides the CMAKE_PREFIX_PATH for it.
This is a similar change as https://reviews.llvm.org/D79219, which just
add_compile_options is more sensitive to its location in the file than add_definitions--it only takes effect for sources that are added after it. This updated patch ensures that the add_compile_options is done before adding any source files that depend on it.
Using add_definitions caused the flag to be passed to rc.exe on Windows and thus broke Windows builds.
Louis Dionne 14c4de13e9 [compiler-rt] Use -nostdinc++ in clang_rt.profile to avoid including C++ headers
Most of the code in compiler_rt is C code. However, clang_rt.profile
contains the InstrProfilingRuntime.cpp file, which builds as C++. This
means that including e.g. <stdint.h> will actually include libc++'s
<stdint.h> and then #include_next the system's <stdint.h>. However, if
the target we're building compiler-rt for isn't supported by libc++,
this will lead to a failure since libc++'s <stdint.h> includes <__config>,
which performs various checks.
Since the goal seems to *not* be including any header from the C++ Standard
Library in clang_rt.profile, using -nostdinc++ to ensure that doesn't
happen unknowingly seems to make sense.
Dan Liew 9d9b470e69 [CMake] Refactor iOS simulator/device test configuration generation code for LibFuzzer.
Summary:
In order to do this `FUZZER_SUPPORTED_OS` had to be pulled out of
`lib/fuzzer/CMakeLists.txt` and into the main config so we can use it
from the `test/fuzzer/CMakeList.txt`. `FUZZER_SUPPORTED_OS` currently
has the same value of `SANITIZER_COMMON_SUPPORTED_OS` which preserves
the existing behaviour but this allows us in the future to adjust the
supported platforms independent of `SANITIZER_COMMON_SUPPORTED_OS`. This
mirrors the other sanitizers.
For non-Apple platforms `FUZZER_SUPPORTED_OS` is not defined and
surprisingly this was the behaviour before this patch because
`SANITIZER_COMMON_SUPPORTED_OS` was actually empty. This appears to
not matter right now because the functions that take an `OS` as an
argument seem to ignore it on non-Apple platforms.
While this change tries to be NFC it is technically not because we
now generate an iossim config whereas previously we didn't. This seems
like the right thing to do because the build system was configured to
compile LibFuzzer for iossim but previously we weren't generating a lit
test config for it. The device/simulator testing configs don't run by
default anyway so this shouldn't break testing.
This change relies on the get_capitalized_apple_platform() function
added in a previous commit.
Dan Liew bbde056b88 [CMake] Fix the value of `config.target_cflags` for non-macOS Apple platforms. Attempt #3.
The main problem here is that `-*-version_min=` was not being passed to
the compiler when building test cases. This can cause problems when
testing on devices running older OSs because Clang would previously
assume the minimum deployment target is the the latest OS in the SDK
which could be much newer than what the device is running.
Previously the generated value looked like this:
`-arch arm64 -isysroot
<path_to_xcode>/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneOS12.1.sdk`
With this change it now looks like:
`-arch arm64 -stdlib=libc++ -miphoneos-version-min=8.0 -isysroot
<path_to_xcode>/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneOS12.1.sdk`
This mirrors the setting of config.target_cflags on macOS.
This change is made for ASan, LibFuzzer, TSan, and UBSan.
To implement this a new `get_test_cflags_for_apple_platform()` function
has been added that when given an Apple platform name and architecture
returns a string containing the C compiler flags to use when building
tests. This also calls a new helper function `is_valid_apple_platform()`
that validates Apple platform names.
This is the third attempt at landing the patch.
The first attempt (r359305) had to be reverted (r359327) due to a buildbot
failure. The problem was that calling `get_test_cflags_for_apple_platform()`
can trigger a CMake error if the provided architecture is not supported by the
current CMake configuration. Previously, this could be triggered by passing
`-DCOMPILER_RT_ENABLE_IOS=OFF` to CMake. The root cause is that we were
generating test configurations for a list of architectures without checking if
the relevant Sanitizer actually supported that architecture. We now intersect
the list of architectures for an Apple platform with
`<SANITIZER>_SUPPORTED_ARCH` (where `<SANITIZER>` is a Sanitizer name) to
iterate through the correct list of architectures.
The second attempt (r363633) had to be reverted (r363779) due to a build
failure. The failed build was using a modified Apple toolchain where the iOS
simulator SDK was missing. This exposed a bug in the existing UBSan test
generation code where it was assumed that `COMPILER_RT_ENABLE_IOS` implied that
the toolchain supported both iOS and the iOS simulator. This is not true. This
has been fixed by using the list `SANITIZER_COMMON_SUPPORTED_OS` for the list
of supported Apple platforms for UBSan. For consistency with the other
Sanitizers we also now intersect the list of architectures with
UBSAN_SUPPORTED_ARCH.
I ran into this issue when replacing llvm::make_unique with
Rainer Orth 4a9a772f44 Enable compiler-rt on SPARC
This patch enables compiler-rt on SPARC targets. Most of the changes are straightforward:
- Add 32 and 64-bit sparc to compiler-rt
- lib/builtins/fp_lib.h needed to check if the int128_t and uint128_t types exist (which they don't on sparc)
There's one issue of note: many asan tests fail to compile on Solaris/SPARC:
fatal error: error in backend: Function "_ZN7testing8internal16BoolFromGTestEnvEPKcb": over-aligned dynamic alloca not supported.
Therefore, while asan is still built, both asan and ubsan-with-asan testing is disabled. The
goal is to check if asan keeps compiling on Solaris/SPARC. This serves asan in gcc,
which doesn't have the problem above and works just fine.
With this patch, sparcv9-sun-solaris2.11 test results are pretty good:
Failing Tests (9):
    Builtins-sparc-sunos :: divtc3_test.c
    Builtins-sparcv9-sunos :: compiler_rt_logbl_test.c
    Builtins-sparcv9-sunos :: divtc3_test.c
[...]
    UBSan-Standalone-sparc :: TestCases/TypeCheck/misaligned.cpp
    UBSan-Standalone-sparcv9 :: TestCases/TypeCheck/misaligned.cpp
The builtin failures are due to Bugs 42493 and 42496. The tree contained a few additonal
patches either currently in review or about to be submitted.
Tested on sparcv9-sun-solaris2.11.
Inspired by the original implementation by Christos Zoulas in netbsd/src for GCC.
The implementation is in theory CPU independent through well defined macros
across all NetBSD ports, however only the x86_64 version was tested.
Ulrich Weigand 45b10d2da5 [compiler-rt][SystemZ] Work around ASAN failures via -fno-partial-inlining
Since updating the SystemZ LLVM build bot system to Ubuntu 18.04, all bots
are red due to two ASAN failures.  It turns out these are triggered due to
building the ASAN support libraries, in particular the interceptor routines
using GCC 7.  Specifically, at least on our platform, this compiler decides
to "partially inline" some of those interceptors, creating intermediate
stub routines like "__interceptor_recvfrom.part.321".  These will show up
in the backtraces at interception points, causing testsuite failures.
As a workaround to get the build bots green again, this patch adds the
-fno-partial-inlining command line option when building the common
sanitizer support libraries on s390x, if that option is supported by
the compiler.
The check_library_exists CMake uses a custom symbol definition. This
is a problem when checking for C library symbols because Clang
recognizes many of them as builtins, and returns the
-Wbuiltin-requires-header (or -Wincompatible-library-redeclaration)
the check_library_exists check fail making the build think that C
library isn't available.
To avoid this issue, we should use a symbol that isn't recognized by
Clang and wouldn't cause the same issue. __libc_start_main seems like
reasonable choice that fits the bill.
```

This is because the `backtrace` function requires `-lexecinfo` on BSD
platforms. To fix this, detect the `execinfo` library in
`cmake/config-ix.cmake`, and add it to the unit test link flags.

Additionally, since the code in `sys::PrintStackTrace` makes use of
`itaniumDemangle`, also add `-lLLVMDemangle`. (Note that this is more
of a general problem with libLLVMSupport, but I'm looking for a quick
fix now so it can be merged to the 8.0 branch.)

Kamil Rytarowski edbe2b3f02 Add support for LLVM profile for NetBSD
Summary:
NetBSD uses typical UNIX interfaces.

All tests pass except instrprof-dlopen-dlclose-gcov.test, as there
is not supported semantics of atexit(3) in dlopen(3)ed+dlclose(3)d
DSO.

NetBSD also ships an older version of LLVM profile (ABI v.2 predating
ABI v.4 in upstream version) inside libc. That copy has been manually
removed during the porting and testing process of the upstream version
to NetBSD. Otherwise there were conflicts between them two.

Michal Gorny 4b0b84f4bb [cmake] Fix detecting terminfo library
Copy the fix for determining the correct terminfo library from LLVM --
use distinct variables for check_library_exists() calls. Otherwise,
the first check (for -ltinfo) populates the variable and no other checks
are performed. Effectively, systems with other libraries than the first
one listed are presumed not to have terminfo routines at all.

Also sync the check order to include the NetBSD fix from r347156.

This partially fixes undefined symbols when linking XRay tests. It's
probably not the best solution to the problem there but as long
as the terminfo check stays in config-ix, I thnk it's worth fixing.

Dean Michael Berris 1f60207984 [XRay][compiler-rt] FDRLogWriter Abstraction
Summary:
This change introduces an `FDRLogWriter` type which is responsible for
serialising metadata and function records to character buffers. This is
the first step in a refactoring of the implementation of the FDR runtime
to allow for more granular testing of the individual components of the
implementation.

The main contribution of this change is a means of hiding the details of
how specific records are written to a buffer, and for managing the
extents of these buffers. We make use of C++ features (templates and
some metaprogramming) to reduce repetition in the act of writing out
specific kinds of records to the buffer.

In this process, we make a number of changes across both LLVM and
compiler-rt to allow us to use the `Trace` abstraction defined in the
LLVM project in the testing of the runtime implementation. This gives us
a closer end-to-end test which version-locks the runtime implementation
with the loading implementation in LLVM.

We also allow using gmock in compiler-rt unit tests, by adding the
requisite definitions in the `AddCompilerRT.cmake` module. We also add
the terminfo library detection along with inclusion of the appropriate
compiler flags for header include lookup.

Finally, we've gone ahead and updated the FDR logging implementation to
use the FDRLogWriter for the lowest-level record-writing details.

Following patches will isolate the state machine transitions which
manage the set-up and tear-down of the buffers we're using in multiple
threads.

Matt Morehouse 7e042bb1d1 [libFuzzer] Port to Windows
Summary:
Port libFuzzer to windows-msvc.
This patch allows libFuzzer targets to be built and run on Windows, using -fsanitize=fuzzer and/or fsanitize=fuzzer-no-link. It allows these forms of coverage instrumentation to work on Windows as well.
It does not fix all issues, such as those with -fsanitize-coverage=stack-depth, which is not usable on Windows as of this patch.
It also does not fix any libFuzzer integration tests. Nearly all of them fail to compile, fixing them will come in a later patch, so libFuzzer tests are disabled on Windows until them.
