Johannes Doerfert 1b34b84ddd [CallGraphUpdater] Update the ExternalCallingNode for node replacements
Summary:
While it is uncommon that the ExternalCallingNode needs to be updated,
it can happen. It is uncommon because most functions listed as callees
have external linkage, modifying them is usually not allowed. That said,
there are also internal functions that have, or better had, their
"address taken" at construction time. We conservatively assume various
uses cause the address "to be taken". Furthermore, the user might have
become dead at some point. As a consequence, transformations, e.g., the
Attributor, might be able to replace a function that is listed
as callee of the ExternalCallingNode.

Since there is no function corresponding to the ExternalCallingNode, we
did just remove the node from the callee list if we replaced it (so
far). Now it would be preferable to replace it if needed and remove it
otherwise. However, removing the node has implications on the CGSCC
iteration. Locally, that caused some other nodes to be never visited
but it is for sure possible other (bad) side effects can occur. As it
seems conservatively safe to keep the new node in the callee list we
will do that for now.

Johannes Doerfert 7ec8d79385 [CallGraphUpdater] Properly remove strongly connected components (oldPM)
Summary:
The old code did eliminate references from and to functions that were
about to be deleted only just before we deleted them. This can cause
references from other functions that are supposed to be deleted to still
exist, depending on the order. If the functions form a strongly
connected component the problem manifests regardless of the order in
which we try to actually delete the functions.

This patch introduces a two step deletion. First we remove all
references and then we delete the function. Note that this only affects
the old call graph. There should not be any functional changes if no old
style call graph was given.

To test this we delete two strongly connected functions instead of one
in an existing test.

Michael Spencer 92e8af0ecb [Clang] Expose RequiresNullTerminator in FileManager.
This is needed to fix the reason
0a2be46cfd (Modules: Invalidate out-of-date PCMs as they're
discovered) and 5b44a4b07fc1d ([modules] Do not cache invalid state for
modules that we attempted to load.) were reverted.

These patches changed Clang to use `isVolatile` when loading modules.
This had the side effect of not using mmap when loading modules, and
thus greatly increased memory usage.

The reason it wasn't using mmap is because `MemoryBuffer` plays some
games with file size when you request null termination, and it has to
disable these when `isVolatile` is set as the size may change by the
time it's mmapped. Clang by default passes
`RequiresNullTerminator = true`, and `shouldUseMmap` ignored if
`RequiresNullTerminator` was even requested.

This patch adds `RequiresNullTerminator` to the `FileManager` interface
so Clang can use it when loading modules, and changes `shouldUseMmap` to
only take volatility into account if `RequiresNullTerminator` is true.
This is fine as both `mmap` and a `read` loop are vulnerable to
modifying the file while reading, but are immune to the rename Clang
does when replacing a module file.

Pavel Labath 122c50d5ef Fix DWARFDataExtractor::getRelocatedValue near EOF
Summary:
If we have an (invalid) relocation which relocates bytes which partially
lie outside the range of the relocated section, the getRelocatedValue
would return confusing results. It would first read zero (because that's
what the underlying DataExtractor api does for out-of-bounds reads), and
then relocate that zero anyway.

A more appropriate behavior is to return zero straight away. This is
what this patch does.

Sanjay Patel c23cbefd9d [VectorUtils] add IR-level analysis for widening of shuffle mask
This is similar to the recent move/addition of "scaleShuffleMask" (D76508),
but there are a couple of differences:

1. The existing x86 helper (canWidenShuffleElements) always tries to
divide-by-2, so it gets called iteratively and wouldn't handle the
   general case of non-pow-2 length.
2. The existing x86 code handles "SM_SentinelZero" - we don't have
that in IR, but this code should be safe to use with that or other
   special (negative) values.

The motivation is to enable shuffle folds in instcombine/vector-combine
that are similar to D76844 and D76727, but in the reverse-bitcast direction.
Those patterns are visible in the tests for D40633.

Serge Pavlov c7ff5b38f2 [FPEnv] Use single enum to represent rounding mode
Now compiler defines 5 sets of constants to represent rounding mode.
These are:

1. `llvm::APFloatBase::roundingMode`. It specifies all 5 rounding modes
defined by IEEE-754 and is used in `APFloat` implementation.

2. `clang::LangOptions::FPRoundingModeKind`. It specifies 4 of 5 IEEE-754
rounding modes and a special value for dynamic rounding mode. It is used
in clang frontend.

3. `llvm::fp::RoundingMode`. Defines the same values as
`clang::LangOptions::FPRoundingModeKind` but in different order. It is
used to specify rounding mode in in IR and functions that operate IR.

4. Rounding mode representation used by `FLT_ROUNDS` (C11, 5.2.4.2.2p7).
Besides constants for rounding mode it also uses a special value to
indicate error. It is convenient to use in intrinsic functions, as it
represents platform-independent representation for rounding mode. In this
role it is used in some pending patches.

5. Values like `FE_DOWNWARD` and other, which specify rounding mode in
library calls `fesetround` and `fegetround`. Often they represent bits
of some control register, so they are target-dependent. The same names
(not values) and a special name `FE_DYNAMIC` are used in
`#pragma STDC FENV_ROUND`.

The first 4 sets of constants are target independent and could have the
same numerical representation. It would simplify conversion between the
representations. Also now `clang::LangOptions::FPRoundingModeKind` and
`llvm::fp::RoundingMode` do not contain the value for IEEE-754 rounding
direction `roundTiesToAway`, although it is supported natively on
some targets.

This change defines all the rounding mode type via one `llvm::RoundingMode`,
which also contains rounding mode for IEEE rounding direction `roundTiesToAway`.

If the decoding functions are called with both start and end pointers

This happens because the function does not recognise nullptr as a valid

Obviously, nobody is going to pass null pointers here deliberately, but
it can happen indirectly (as it did for me), when calling these
functions on an ArrayRef, as a default-initialized empty ArrayRef will
have both begin() and end() pointers equal to nullptr.

The fix is to simply remove the nullptr check. Passing nullptr for "end"
with a valid "begin" pointer will still work, as one cannot reach
nullptr by incrementing a valid pointer without triggerring UB.

David Green c697dd9ffd [ARM] Make remaining MVE instruction predictable
The unpredictable/hasSideEffects flag is usually inferred by tablegen
from whether the instruction has a tablegen pattern (and that pattern
only has a single output instruction). Now that the MVE intrinsics are
all committed and producing code, the remaining instructions still
marked as unpredictable need to be specially handled. This adds the flag
directly to instructions that need it, notably the V*MLAL instructions
and some of the MOV's.

Eli Friedman 1ee6ec2bf3 Remove "mask" operand from shufflevector.
Instead, represent the mask as out-of-line data in the instruction. This
should be more efficient in the places that currently use
getShuffleVector(), and paves the way for further changes to add new
shuffles for scalable vectors.

This doesn't change the syntax in textual IR. And I don't currently plan
to change the bitcode encoding in this patch, although we'll probably
need to do something once we extend shufflevector for scalable types.

I expect that once this is finished, we can then replace the raw "mask"
with something more appropriate for scalable vectors. Not sure exactly
what this looks like at the moment, but there are a few different ways
we could handle it. Maybe we could try to describe specific shuffles.
Or maybe we could define it in terms of a function to convert a fixed-length
array into an appropriate scalable vector, using a "step", or something
like that.

Jonas Devlieghere 3ef33e69de [VirtualFileSystem] Support directory entries in the YAMLVFSWriter
The current implementation of the JSONWriter does not support writing
out directory entries. Earlier today I added a unit test to illustrate
the problem. When an entry is added to the YAMLVFSWriter and the path is
a directory, it will incorrectly emit the directory as a file, and any
files inside that directory will not be found by the VFS.

It's possible to partially work around the issue by only adding "leaf
nodes" (files) to the YAMLVFSWriter. However, this doesn't work for
representing empty directories. This is a problem for clients of the VFS
that want to iterate over a directory. The directory not being there is
not the same as the directory being empty.

This is not just a hypothetical problem. The FileCollector for example
does not differentiate between file and directory paths. I temporarily
worked around the issue for LLDB by ignoring directories, but I suspect
this will prove problematic sooner rather than later.

This patch fixes the issue by extending the JSONWriter to support
writing out directory entries. We store whether an entry should be
emitted as a file or directory.

Matt Arsenault 39c55cef21 GlobalISel: Introduce bitcast legalize action
For some operations, the type is unimportant and only the number of
bits matters. For example I don't want to treat <4 x s8> as a legal
type, but I also don't want to decompose loads of this into smaller
pieces to get legal register types.

On AMDGPU in SelectionDAG, we legalize a number of operations (most
notably load and store) by coercing all types to vectors of i32. For
GlobalISel, I'm trying very hard to avoid doing this for every type,
but I don't think this strategy can be completely avoided. I'm trying
to avoid bitcasts for any legitimately legal type we can operate on,
since the intervening bitcasts have proven to be a hassle.

For loads, I think I can get away without ever casting the result
type, and handling any arbitrary bitwidth during selection (I will
eventually want new tablegen support to help with this, rather than
having to add every possible type as legal). The unmerge required to
do anything with the value should expand to the expected shifts. This
is trickier for stores, since it would now require handling a wide
array of truncates during selection which I don't want.

Future potentially interesting case are for vector indexing, where
sub-dword type should be indexed in s32 pieces.

John McCall 49e5a97ec3 Add an algorithm for performing "optimal" layout of a struct.
The algorithm supports both assigning a fixed offset to a field prior to
layout and allowing fields to have sizes that aren't multiples of their
required alignments. This means that the well-known algorithm of sorting
by decreasing alignment isn't always good enough. Still, we start with
that, and only if that leaves padding around do we fall back on a greedy
padding-minimizing algorithm.

There is no known efficient algorithm for producing a guaranteed-minimal
layout in all cases. In fact, allowing arbitrary fixed-offset fields means
there's a straightforward reduction from bin-packing, making this NP-hard.
But as usual with such problems, we can still efficiently produce adequate
solutions to the cases that matter most to us.

I intend to use this in coroutine frame layout, where the retcon lowerings
very badly want to minimize total space usage, and where the switch lowering
can indeed produce a header with interior padding if the promise field is
highly-aligned. But it may be useful in a much wider variety of situations.
