Justin Lebar b326904dba [SCEV] Simplify trunc-of-add/mul to add/mul-of-trunc under more circumstances.
Summary:
Previously we would do this simplification only if it did not introduce
any new truncs (excepting new truncs which replace other cast ops).

This change weakens this condition: If the number of truncs stays the
same, but we're able to transform trunc(X + Y) to X + trunc(Y), that's
still simpler, and it may open up additional transformations.

While we're here, also clean up some duplicated code.

Andrea Di Biagio 4729d1ff27 [llvm-mca] Add another test for partial register stalls.
This test checks that a physical register is correctly allocated for the partial
write to register BX.
The ADD instruction has to wait for the write to RBX (and BX) before being
executed.

Paul Robinson cc7344aae3 [DWARFv5] Tolerate files not all having an MD5 checksum.
In some cases, for example when compiling a preprocessed file, the
front-end is not able to provide an MD5 checksum for all files. When
that happens, omit the MD5 checksums from the final DWARF, because
DWARF doesn't have a way to indicate that some but not all files have
a checksum.

When assembling a .s file, and some but not all .file directives
provide an MD5 checksum, issue a warning and don't emit MD5 into the
DWARF.

Bjorn Pettersson e406b29c22 [DebugInfo] Check size of variable in ConvertDebugDeclareToDebugValue
Summary:
Do not convert a DbgDeclare to DbgValue if the store
instruction only refer to a fragment of the variable
described by the DbgDeclare.

Problem was seen when for example having an alloca for an
array or struct, and there were stores to individual elements.
In the past we inserted a DbgValue intrinsics for each store,
just as if the store wrote the whole variable.

When handling store instructions we insert a DbgValue that
indicates that the variable is "undefined", as we do not know
which part of the variable that is updated by the store.

When ConvertDebugDeclareToDebugValue is used with a load/phi
instruction we assert that the referenced value is large enough
to cover the whole variable. Afaict this should be true for all
scenarios where those methods are used on trunk. If the assert
blows in the future I guess we could simply skip to insert a
dbg.value instruction.

In the future I think we should examine which part of the variable
that is accessed, and add a DbgValue instrinsic with an appropriate
DW_OP_LLVM_fragment expression.

Craig Topper b2552e1e08 [x86] fix mappings of cvttp2si/cvttp2ui x86 intrinsics to x86-specific nodes and isel patterns (PR37551)
Summary:
The tests in:
https://bugs.llvm.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37751
...show miscompiles because we wrongly mapped and folded x86-specific intrinsics into generic DAG nodes.

This patch corrects the mappings in X86IntrinsicsInfo.h and adds isel matching corresponding to the new patterns. The complete tests for the failure cases should be in avx-cvttp2si.ll and sse-cvttp2si.ll and avx512-cvttp2i.ll

Reid Kleckner 12395b7795 [WinASan] Don't instrument globals in sections containing '$'
Such globals are very likely to be part of a sorted section array, such
the .CRT sections used for dynamic initialization. The uses its own
sorted sections called ATL$__a, ATL$__m, and ATL$__z. Instead of special
casing them, just look for the dollar sign, which is what invokes linker
section sorting for COFF.

Avoids issues with ASan and the ATL uncovered after we started
instrumenting comdat globals on COFF.

Andrea Di Biagio 0ffb2271a1 [llvm-mca] Fixed a bug in the logic that checks if a memory operation is ready to execute.
Fixes PR37790.

In some (very rare) cases, the LSUnit (Load/Store unit) was wrongly marking a
load (or store) as "ready to execute" effectively bypassing older memory barrier
instructions.

To reproduce this bug, the memory barrier must be the first instruction in the
input assembly sequence, and it doesn't have to perform any register writes.

Sanjay Patel 7d4929611c [DAGCombiner] remove hasOneUse() check from fadd constants transform
We're constant folding here, so we shouldn't check uses. This matches
the IR optimizer behavior.

The x86 test shows the expected win. The AArch64 test shows something
else. This only seems to happen if the "generic" AArch64 CPU model is 
used by MachineCombiner, so I'll file a bug report to follow-up.

Sanjay Patel b983ac6fe1 [x86] eliminate even more sign-bit tests with vector select
This shortcoming was noted in D47330, and the test diffs show we already 
had other examples where we failed to fold to a SHRUNKBLEND:

/// Dynamic (non-constant condition) vector blend where only the sign bits
/// of the condition elements are used. This is used to enforce that the
/// condition mask is not valid for generic VSELECT optimizations.

This patch implements an idea from D48043 and would obsolete that patch 
because it catches more cases (notable the AVX1 case that was missed there). 
All we're doing is allowing the existing transform to fire more often by 
removing the post-legalize constraint. All of the relevant feature checks 
and other predicates are left as-is.

Fences are inserted according to table A.6 in the current draft of version 2.3
of the RISC-V Instruction Set Manual, which incorporates the memory model
changes and definitions contributed by the RISC-V Memory Consistency Model
task group.

Instruction selection failures will now occur for 8/16/32-bit atomicrmw and 
cmpxchg operations when targeting RV32IA until lowering for these operations 
is added in a follow-on patch.

Alex Bradbury dc790dd5d0 [RISCV] Codegen support for atomic operations on RV32I
This patch adds lowering for atomic fences and relies on AtomicExpandPass to
lower atomic loads/stores, atomic rmw, and cmpxchg to __atomic_* libcalls.

test/CodeGen/RISCV/atomic-* are modelled on the exhaustive
test/CodeGen/PPC/atomics-regression.ll, and will prove more useful once RV32A
codegen support is introduced.

Fence mappings are taken from table A.6 in the current draft of version 2.3 of
the RISC-V Instruction Set Manual, which incorporates the memory model changes
and definitions contributed by the RISC-V Memory Consistency Model task group.

Pavel Labath 4adc88ed25 [DWARF/AccelTable] Remove getDIESectionOffset for DWARF v5 entries
Summary:
This method was not correct for entries in DWO files as it assumed it
could just add up the CU and DIE offsets to get the absolute DIE offset.
This is not correct for the DWO files, as here the CU offset will
reference the skeleton unit, whereas the DIE offset will be the offset
in the full unit in the DWO file.

Unfortunately, this means that we are not able to determine the absolute
DIE offset using the information in the .debug_names section alone,
which means we have to offload some of this work to the users of this
class.

To demonstrate how this can be done, I've added/fixed the ability to
lookup entries using accelerator tables in DWO files in llvm-dwarfdump.
To make this happen, I've needed to make two extra changes in other
classes:
- made the DWARFContext method to lookup a CU based on the section
  offset public. I've needed this functionality to lookup a CU, and this
  seems like a useful thing in general.
- made DWARFUnit::getDWOId call extractDIEsIfNeeded. Before this, the
  DWOId was filled in only if the root DIE happened to be parsed
  before we called the accessor. Since the lazy parsing is supposed to
  happen under the hood, calling extractDIEsIfNeeded seems appropriate.

Max Kazantsev 0ed79620c6 [SimplifyIndVars] Ignore dead users
IndVarSimplify sometimes makes transforms basing on users that are trivially dead. In particular,
if DCE wasn't run before it, there may be a dead `sext/zext` in loop that will trigger widening
transforms, however it makes no sense to do it.

This patch teaches IndVarsSimplify ignore the mist trivial cases of that.

Petr Hosek 7250908016 [AArch64] Support reserving x20 register
Register x20 is a callee-saved register which may be used for other
purposes in certain contexts, for example to hold special variables

Reid Kleckner 98117a47e6 [MS][ARM64] Hoist __ImageBase handling into TargetLoweringObjectFileCOFF
All COFF targets should use @IMGREL32 relocations for symbol differences
against __ImageBase. Do the same for getSectionForConstant, so that
immediates lowered to globals get merged across TUs.

Roman Tereshin b2d3f2e5da [MIR][MachineCSE] Implementing proper MachineInstr::getNumExplicitDefs()
Apparently, MachineInstr class definition as well as pretty much all of
the machine passes assume that the only kind of MachineInstr's operands
that is variadic for variadic opcodes is explicit non-definitions.

In particular, this assumption is made by MachineInstr::defs(), uses(),
and explicit_uses() methods, as well as by MachineCSE pass.

The assumption is incorrect judging from at least TableGen backend
implementation, that recognizes variable_ops in OutOperandList, and the
very existence of G_UNMERGE_VALUES generic opcode, or ARM load multiple
instructions, all of which have variadic defs.

In particular, MachineCSE pass breaks MIR with CSE'able G_UNMERGE_VALUES
instructions in it.

This commit implements MachineInstr::getNumExplicitDefs() similar to
pre-existing MachineInstr::getNumExplicitOperands(), fixes
MachineInstr::defs(), uses(), and explicit_uses(), and fixes MachineCSE
pass.

As the issue addressed seems to affect only machine passes that could be
ran mid-GlobalISel pipeline at the moment, the other passes aren't fixed
by this commit, like MachineLICM: that could be done on per-pass basis
when (if ever) they get adopted for GlobalISel.

Simon Pilgrim e39fa6cbbb [CostModel] Replace ShuffleKind::SK_Alternate with ShuffleKind::SK_Select (PR33744)
As discussed on PR33744, this patch relaxes ShuffleKind::SK_Alternate which requires shuffle masks to only match an alternating pattern from its 2 sources:

e.g. v4f32: <0,5,2,7> or <4,1,6,3>

This seems far too restrictive as most SIMD hardware which will implement it using a general blend/bit-select instruction, so replaces it with SK_Select, permitting elements from either source as long as they are inline:

e.g. v4f32: <0,5,2,7>, <4,1,6,3>, <0,1,6,7>, <4,1,2,3> etc.

This initial patch just updates the name and cost model shuffle mask analysis, later patch reviews will update SLP to better utilise this - it still limits itself to SK_Alternate style patterns.

Paul Robinson f69316c617 [DWARFv5] llvm-mc -dwarf-version does not imply -g.
Don't provide the assembler source as the "root file" unless the user
asked to have debug info for the assembler source (with -g).

If the source doesn't provide an explicit ".file 0" then (a) use the
compilation directory as directory #0, and (b) use the file #1 info
for file #0 also.

Krzysztof Parzyszek 3d671248ab [SelectionDAG] Provide default expansion for rotates
Implement default legalization of rotates: either in terms of the rotation
in the opposite direction (if legal), or in terms of shifts and ors.

Implement generating of rotate instructions for Hexagon. Hexagon only
supports rotates by an immediate value, so implement custom lowering of
ROTL/ROTR on Hexagon. If a rotate is not legal, use the default expansion.

Craig Topper 957b738432 [X86] Add isel patterns for folding loads when creating ROUND instructions from ffloor/fnearbyint/fceil/frint/ftrunc.
We were missing packed isel folding patterns for all of sse41, avx, and avx512.

For some reason avx512 had scalar load folding patterns under optsize(due to partial/undef reg update), but we didn't have the equivalent sse41 and avx patterns.

Sometimes we would get load folding due to peephole pass anyway, but we're also missing avx512 instructions from the load folding table. I'll try to fix that in another patch.

Some of this was spotted in the review for D47993.

This patch adds all the folds to isel, adds a few spot tests, and disables the peephole pass on a few tests to ensure we're testing some of these patterns.

Wei Mi a0c0857e7a [SampleFDO] Add a new compact binary format for sample profile.
Name table occupies a big chunk of size in current binary format sample profile.
In order to reduce its size, the patch changes the sample writer/reader to
save/restore MD5Hash of names in the name table. Sample annotation phase will
also use MD5Hash of name to query samples accordingly.

Experiment shows compact binary format can reduce the size of sample profile by
2/3 compared with binary format generally.

Matt Arsenault 5615fa0a87 DAG: Fix extract_subvector combine for a single element
This would fail before because 1x vectors aren't legal,
so instead just use the scalar type.

Avoids regressions in a future AMDGPU commit to add
v4i16/v4f16 as legal types.

Test update is just the one test that this triggers
on in tree now. It wasn't checking anything before.
The result is completely  changed since the selects
are eliminated. Not sure if it's considered better
or not.

Aleksandar Beserminji 62cf9d21ab [mips] Fix spill slot for mips3, n64 abi
When program is compiled for mips3 with n64 abi, wrong register class
is used for creating an emergency spill slot. This patch fixes the
correct register class to be chosen.

This patch resolves PR35859.

Dylan McKay d011869c82 [AVR] Set trackLivenessAfterRegAlloc
This sets trackLivenessAfterRegAlloc on AVRRegisterInfo.

Most existing targets set this flag. Without it, specific IR inputs
cause LLVM to fail with:

Assertion failed: (getParent()->getProperties().hasProperty( MachineFunctionProperties::Property::TracksLiveness) &&
                   "Liveness information is accurate"), function livein_begin
file MachineBasicBlock.cpp, line 1354.

With this commit, this no longer happens.

Sanjay Patel 3e5c70cc1d [DAGCombiner] match vector compare and select sizes with extload operand (PR37427)
This patch started off much more general and ambitious, but it's been a nightmare 
seeing all the ways x86 vector codegen can go wrong.

So the code is still structured to allow extending easily, but it's currently 
limited in several ways:

1. Only handle cases with an extending load.
2. Only handle cases with a zero constant compare.
3. Ignore setcc with vector bitmask (SetCCWidth != 1) - so AVX512 should be unaffected.

The motivating case from PR37427:

...is the 1st test, and that shows the expected win - we eliminated the unnecessary 
intermediate cast.

There's a clear regression in the last test (sgt_zero_fp_select) because we longer 
recognize a 'SHRUNKBLEND' opportunity. I think that general problem is also present 
in sgt_zero, so I'll try to fix that in a follow-up. We need to match a sign-bit 
setcc from a sign-extended operand and remove it.

Reid Kleckner 0bab222084 [asan] Instrument comdat globals on COFF targets
Summary:
If we can use comdats, then we can make it so that the global metadata
is thrown away if the prevailing definition of the global was
uninstrumented. I have only tested this on COFF targets, but in theory,
there is no reason that we cannot also do this for ELF.

This will allow us to re-enable string merging with ASan on Windows,
reducing the binary size cost of ASan on Windows.
