George Rimar ce95ac6490 [lib/MC] - Set SHF_EXCLUDE flag for .dwo sections.
DWARF5 spec says about single file split case:

"The sections that do not require relocation, however, can be written
to the relocatable object (.o) file but ignored by the
the linker or they can be written to a separate DWARF object (.dwo) file
that need not be accessed by the linker."

Nice way to make linker to ignore them is to set SHF_EXCLUDE flag.
It seems to be not harmful to always set it for .dwo sections.
That is what this patch does.

Eric Christopher fe83270ee9 The initial .text section generated in object files was missing the
SHF_ARM_PURECODE flag when being built with the -mexecute-only flag.
All code sections of an ELF must have the flag set for the final .text
section to be execute-only, otherwise the flag gets removed.

A HasData flag is added to MCSection to aid in the determination that
the section is empty. A virtual setTargetSectionFlags is added to
MCELFObjectTargetWriter to allow subclasses to set target specific
section flags to be added to sections which we then use in the ARM
backend to set SHF_ARM_PURECODE.

George Rimar 999d1ce517 [llvm-mc] - Allow to set custom flags for debug sections.
I am experimenting with a single split dwarf (.dwo sections in .o files).
I want to make linker to ignore .dwo sections in .o, for that I am trying to add
SHF_EXCLUDE flag ("E") for them in my asm sample.

I found that currently, it is impossible to add any flag for debug sections using llvm-mc.

That happens because we have a set of predefined unique sections created early with default flags:
https://github.com/llvm-mirror/llvm/blob/master/lib/MC/MCObjectFileInfo.cpp#L391

This patch allows a user to add any flags he wants.

I had to edit TargetLoweringObjectFileImpl.cpp to set MetaData type for debug sections.
Their kind was Data by default (so they were allocatable) and so after changes introduced by
this patch the SHF_ALLOC flag was applied for them, what does not make sense for debug sections.
One of OrcJITTests tests failed because of that.

Michael J. Spencer 5bf1ead377 Add support for generating a call graph profile from Branch Frequency Info.
=== Generating the CG Profile ===

The CGProfile module pass simply gets the block profile count for each BB and scans for call instructions. For each call instruction it adds an edge from the current function to the called function with the current BB block profile count as the weight.

After scanning all the functions, it generates an appending module flag containing the data. The format looks like:
```
!llvm.module.flags = !{!0}
!0 = !{i32 5, !"CG Profile", !1}
!1 = !{!2, !3, !4} ; List of edges
!2 = !{void ()* @a, void ()* @b, i64 32} ; Edge from a to b with a weight of 32
!3 = !{void (i1)* @freq, void ()* @a, i64 11}
Shiva Chen 2c864551df [DebugInfo] Add DILabel metadata and intrinsic llvm.dbg.label.
In order to set breakpoints on labels and list source code around
labels, we need collect debug information for labels, i.e., label
name, the function label belong, line number in the file, and the
address label located. In order to keep these information in LLVM
IR and to allow backend to generate debug information correctly.
We create a new kind of metadata for labels, DILabel. The format
of DILabel is
!DILabel(scope: !1, name: "foo", file: !2, line: 3)
We hope to keep debug information as much as possible even the
code is optimized. So, we create a new kind of intrinsic for label
metadata to avoid the metadata is eliminated with basic block.
The intrinsic will keep existing if we keep it from optimized out.
The format of the intrinsic is
llvm.dbg.label(metadata !1)
It has only one argument, that is the DILabel metadata. The
intrinsic will follow the label immediately. Backend could get the
label metadata through the intrinsic's parameter.
We also create DIBuilder API for labels to be used by Frontend.
Frontend could use createLabel() to allocate DILabel objects, and use
insertLabel() to insert llvm.dbg.label intrinsic in LLVM IR.
Paul Robinson 0a22709f06 [DWARF] Regularize dumping strings from line tables.
The major visible difference here is that in line-table dumps,
directory and file names are wrapped in double-quotes; previously,
directory names got single quotes and file names were not quoted at
all.
The improvement in this patch is that when a DWARF v5 line table
header has indirect strings, in a verbose dump these will all have
their section[offset] printed as well as the name itself.  This
matches the format used for dumping strings in the .debug_info
section.
Saleem Abdulrasool b36fbbc3ec CodeGen: support an extension to pass linker options on ELF
Introduce an extension to support passing linker options to the linker.
These would be ignored by older linkers, but newer linkers which support
this feature would be able to process the linker.
Emit a special discarded section `.linker-option`.  The content of this
section is a pair of strings (key, value).  The key is a type identifier for
the parameter.  This allows for an argument free parameter that will be
processed by the linker with the value being the parameter.  As an example,
`lib` identifies a library to be linked against, traditionally the `-l`
argument for Unix-based linkers with the parameter being the library name.
The compilation directory has always been #0, but as of DWARF v5 it is
explicitly listed in the line-table section instead of implicitly
being a reference to the compile_unit DIE's DW_AT_comp_dir attribute.
This means the dumper should number the dumped array starting with 0
References in the generated DWARF are correct, it's just the dumper
that was wrong.  Also some assembler-coded tests were similarly
Rafael Espindola 9f92995781 Don't pass the code model to MC
I was surprised to see the code model being passed to MC. After all,
it assembles code, it doesn't create it.
The one place it is used is in the expansion of .cfi directives to
handle .eh_frame being more that 2gb away from the code.
As far as I can tell, gnu assembler doesn't even have an option to
enable this. Compiling a c file with gcc -mcmodel=large produces a
regular looking .eh_frame. This is probably because in practice linker
parse and recreate .eh_frames.
In llvm this is used because the JIT can place the code and .eh_frame
very far apart. Ideally we would fix the jit and delete this
option. This is hard.
Apart from confusion another problem with the current interface is
that most callers pass CodeModel::Default, which is bad since MC has
no way to map it to the target default if it actually needed to.
This patch then replaces the argument with a boolean with a default
value. The vast majority of users don't ever need to look at it. In
fact, only CodeGen and llvm-mc use it and llvm-mc just to enable more
testing.
Simon Atanasyan 2953224d64 [MC] Accept a numeric value as an ELF section header's type
GAS supports specification of section header's type using a numeric
value [1]. This patch brings the same functionality to LLVM. That allows
to setup some target-specific section types belong to the SHT_LOPROC -
SHT_HIPROC range. If we attempt to print unknown section type, MCSectionELF
class shows an error message. It's better than print sole '@' sign
without any section type name.
In case of MIPS, example of such section's type is SHT_MIPS_DWARF.
Without the patch we will have to implement some workarounds
in probably not-MIPS-specific part of code base to convert SHT_MIPS_DWARF
to the @progbits while printing assembly and to assign SHT_MIPS_DWARF for
@progbits sections named .debug_* if we encounter such section in
Rafael Espindola 13a79bbfe5 Change how we handle section symbols on ELF.
On ELF every section can have a corresponding section symbol. When in
an assembly file we have
.quad .text
the '.text' refers to that symbol.
The way we used to handle them is to leave .text an undefined symbol
until the very end when the object writer would map them to the
actual section symbol.
The problem with that is that anything before the end would see an
undefined symbol. This could result in bad diagnostics
(test/MC/AArch64/label-arithmetic-diags-elf.s), or incorrect results
when using the asm streamer (est/MC/Mips/expansion-jal-sym-pic.s).
Fixing this will also allow using the section symbol earlier for
setting sh_link of SHF_METADATA sections.
This patch includes a few hacks to avoid changing our behaviour when
handling conflicts between section symbols and other symbols. I
reported pr31850 to track that.
Fix: updated clang code which was not updated by mistake.
Original commit message:
[llvm-mc] - Teach llvm-mc to generate zlib styled compression sections.
This patch is strongly based on previously reverted D20331.
(because of gnuutils < 2.26 does not support compressed debug sections in non zlib-gnu style)
Difference that this patch supports both zlib and zlib-gnu styles.
-compress-debug-sections option now supports next values:
-compress-debug-sections=zlib-gnu
-compress-debug-sections=zlib
-compress-debug-sections=none
Previously specifying -compress-debug-sections enabled zlib-gnu compression,
so anyone can put "-compress-debug-sections=zlib-gnu" to restore the behavior
that was before this patch for case when compression was enabled.
