Bill Seurer e76f2171f9 [PowerPC][asan] Fix asan tests to handle changed memory layouts
In more recent Linux kernels with 47 bit VMAs the layout of virtual memory
for powerpc64 changed causing the address sanitizer to not work properly. This
patch fixes up a test case that was found to fail on some newer Fedora
releases that use different address ranges.

Dan Liew 3fc243aea5 Force lit to execute the ASan and TSan tests on iOS devices
sequentially.

The current implementation of commands in
`test/sanitizer_common/ios_commands/` for iOS devices cannot be executed
in parallel which results in the ASan and TSan tests failing when
executed in parallel by lit which was the default behaviour.

We now force the ASan and TSan tests to be a new parallelism group named
`darwin-ios-device-sanitizer` which allows only one test to be run at a
time. We also emit a warning informing the user that tests are being
run sequentially.

This only applies if the target is an iOS device.

Kamil Rytarowski 3efd1c516c [Sanitizers, test] Fix sanitizer tests on Solaris (PR 33274)
Summary:
This patch (on top of the previous two (https://reviews.llvm.org/D40898 and
https://reviews.llvm.org/D40899) complete the compiler-rt side of the the Solaris
sanitizer port.

It contains the following sets of changes:

* For the time being, the port is for 32-bit x86 only, so reject the various tests on
  x86_64.

* When compiling as C++, <setjmp.h> resp. <iso/setjmp_iso.h> only declares
_setjmp and _longjmp inside namespace std.

* MAP_FILE is a Windows feature.  While e.g. Linux <sys/mman.h> provides a
no-op compat define, Solaris does not.

* test/asan/TestCases/Posix/coverage.cc was initially failing like this:

/vol/gcc/src/llvm/llvm/local/projects/compiler-rt/lib/sanitizer_common/scripts/sancov.py: 4 files merged; 2 PCs total
rm: cannot remove '/var/gcc/llvm/local/projects/compiler-rt/test/asan/I386SunOSConfig/TestCases/Posix/Output/coverage': Invalid argument

Further digging revealed that the rm was trying to remove the running test's working
directory which failed as observed. cd'ing out of the dir before let the test pass.

* Two tests needed a declaration of alloca. I've now copied the existing code from
test/asan/TestCases/alloca_constant_size.cc, but it may be more profitable and
maintainable to have a common testsuite header where such code is collected.

* Similarly, Solaris' printf %p format doesn't include the leading 0x.

* In test/asan/TestCases/malloc-no-intercept.c, I had to undef __EXTENSIONS__
(predefined by clang for no apparent reason) to avoid conflicting declarations
  for memalign.

* test/ubsan/TestCases/Float/cast-overflow.cpp has different platform dependent
ways to define BYTE_ORDER and friends. Why not just use __BYTE_ORDER__ and
friends as predefined by clang and gcc?

Patch by Rainer Orth.

Following patch adds support of all memory origins in
CheckForInvalidPointerPair function. For small difference of pointers,
it's directly done in shadow memory (the limit was set to 2048B).
Then we search for origin of first pointer and verify that the second
one has the same origin. If so, we verify that it points either to a same
variable (in case of stack memory or a global variable), or to a same
heap segment.

Roman Lebedev d45054dbd2 [ubsan] Re-commit: lit changes for lld testing, future lto testing.
Summary:
As discussed in https://github.com/google/oss-fuzz/issues/933,
it would be really awesome to be able to use ThinLTO for fuzzing.
However, as @kcc has pointed out, it is currently undefined (untested)
whether the sanitizers actually function properly with LLD and/or LTO.

This patch is inspired by the cfi test, which already do test with LTO
(and/or LLD), since LTO is required for CFI to function.

I started with UBSan, because it's cmakelists / lit.* files appeared
to be the cleanest. This patch adds the infrastructure to easily add
LLD and/or LTO sub-variants of the existing lit test configurations.

Also, this patch adds the LLD flavor, that explicitly does use LLD to link.
The check-ubsan does pass on my machine. And to minimize the [initial]
potential buildbot breakage i have put some restrictions on this flavour.

Please review carefully, i have not worked with lit/sanitizer tests before.

The original attempt, r319525 was reverted in r319526 due
to the failures in compiler-rt standalone builds.

Kuba Mracek ceea5466eb [sanitizer] Add 'strip_env' flag to enable/disable removing sanitizer dylib from DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES
On macOS, we usually don't require launching the target with DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES anymore. However, it is still necessary when running a target that is not instrumented (and e.g. dlopen's an instrument library later). In any case, ASan and TSan currently remove themselves from the DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES environment variable to avoid passing it onto children. This works well e.g. when instrumenting a shell. A problem arises when the target is a non-instrumented shim (e.g. "xcrun") that either re-execs or launches a child that is supposed to get DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES propagated. To support this mode, this patch introduces 'strip_env' flag that can be used to keep DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES untouched.

Alex Shlyapnikov a53b55f66c [Sanitizers] ASan: detect new/delete calls with mismatched alignment.
ASan allocator stores the requested alignment for new and new[] calls
and on delete and delete[] verifies that alignments do match.

The representable alignments are: default alignment, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128,
256 and 512 bytes. Alignments > 512 are stored as 512, hence two
different alignments > 512 will pass the check (possibly masking the bug),
but limited memory requirements deemed to be a resonable tradeoff for
relaxed conditions.

The feature is controlled by new_delete_type_mismatch flag, the same one
protecting new/delete matching size check.

Remove the explicit i686 target that is completely duplicate to

1. The runtime built for i686 will be identical to the one built for
i386.

2. Supporting both -i386 and -i686 suffixes causes unnecessary confusion
on the clang end which has to expect either of them.

3. The checks are based on wrong assumption that __i686__ is defined for
all newer x86 CPUs. In fact, it is only declared when -march=i686 is
explicitly used. It is not available when a more specific (or newer)
-march is used.

Curious enough, if CFLAGS contain -march=i686, the runtime will be built

George Karpenkov b87543c704 Prefer atos to llvm-symbolizer on Darwin
atos is the default symbolizer on Apple's compiler for quite a few years now.
llvm-symbolizer is quite fragile on Darwin: for example, unless a .dSYM
file was explicitly generated symbolication would not work.
It is also very convenient when the behavior of LLVM open source
compiler matches to that of Apple's compiler on Apple's platform.
Furthermore, llvm-symbolizer is not installed on Apple's platform by
default, which leads to strange behavior during debugging: the test
might fail under lit (where it has llvm-symbolizer) but would run
properly when launched on the command line (where it does not, and atos
would be used).

Indeed, there's a downside: atos does not work properly with inlined
functions, hence the test change.
We do not think that this is a major problem, as users would often
compile with -O0 when debugging, and in any case it is preferable to
symbolizer not being able to symbolize.

Kuba Mracek c41ba09433 [objc] Don't require null-check and don't emit memset when result is ignored for struct-returning method calls [compiler-rt part]
This fixes an issue with the emission of lifetime markers for struct-returning Obj-C msgSend calls. When the result of a struct-returning call is ignored, the temporary storage is only marked with lifetime markers in one of the two branches of the nil-receiver-check. The check is, however, not required when the result is unused. If we still need to emit the check (due to consumer arguments), let's not emit the memset to zero out the result if it's unused. This fixes a use-after-scope false positive with AddressSanitizer.

Operator new interceptors behavior is now controlled by their nothrow

- allocator_may_return_null=1 + new(nothrow) - return null

Vitaly Buka 7901b47094 [asan] Return allow_user_segv_handler=0 to fix compatibility issues.
Summary:
After r303941 it was not possible to setup ASAN_OPTIONS to have the same
behavior for pre r303941 and post r303941 builds.
Pre r303941 Asan does not accept handle_sigbus=2.
Post r303941 Asan does not accept allow_user_segv_handler.

This fix ignores allow_user_segv_handler=1, but for allow_user_segv_handler=0
it will upgrade flags like handle_sigbus=1 to handle_sigbus=2. So user can set
ASAN_OPTIONS=allow_user_segv_handler=0 and have same behavior on old and new
clang builds (except range from r303941 to this revision).

In future users which need to prevent third party handlers should switch to
handle_sigbus=2 and remove allow_user_segv_handler as soon as suport of older
builds is not needed.

Kuba Mracek b2e2634510 [asan] Turn -fsanitize-address-use-after-scope on by default [compiler-rt part]
AddressSanitizer has an optional compile-time flag, -fsanitize-address-use-after-scope, which enables detection of use-after-scope bugs. We'd like to have this feature on by default, because it is already very well tested, it's used in several projects already (LLVM automatically enables it when using -DLLVM_USE_SANITIZER=Address), it's low overhead and there are no known issues or incompatibilities.

This patch enables use-after-scope by default via the Clang driver, where we set true as the default value for AsanUseAfterScope. This also causes the lifetime markers to be generated whenever fsanitize=address is used. This has some nice consequences, e.g. we now have line numbers for all local variables.

We also match the behavior of MallocScribble and MallocPreScribble env vars on macOS (see https://developer.apple.com/library/content/documentation/Performance/Conceptual/ManagingMemory/Articles/MallocDebug.html), which is a helpful tool to detect use-after-free bugs that happen in non-instrumented code.

Add a new auxiliary file to each sanitizer: sanitizer_interface.inc, listing all
the functions exported, with the macros: INTERFACE_FUNCTION() and
INTERFACE_WEAK_FUNCTION().
So, when we need to define or repeat a procedure for each function in the
sanitizer's interface, we can define the macros and include that header.
In particular, these files are needed for Windows, in the nexts commits.
Also, this files could replace the existing files: weak_symbols.txt for Apple.
Instead of reading weak_symbols.txt to get the list of weak symbols, we could
read the file sanitizer_interface.inc and consider all the symbols included with
the macro INTERFACE_WEAK_FUNCTION(Name).

In this commit, I only include these files to the sanitizers that work on
Windows. We could do the same for the rest of the sanitizers when needed.

I updated tests for: Linux, Darwin and Windows. If a new function is exported
but is not present in the interface list, the tests
"interface_symbols_[darwin|windows|linux].c" fail.

Also, I remove the comments: "/* OPTIONAL */" which are not required any more,
because we use the macro: INTERFACE_WEAK_FUNCTION() for weak functions.

Dimitry Andric f2ac1d1df2 Recommit: Stop intercepting some malloc-related functions on FreeBSD and
macOS

Summary:
In https://bugs.freebsd.org/215125 I was notified that some configure
scripts attempt to test for the Linux-specific `mallinfo` and `mallopt`
functions by compiling and linking small programs which references the
functions, and observing whether that results in errors.

FreeBSD and macOS do not have the `mallinfo` and `mallopt` functions, so
normally these tests would fail, but when sanitizers are enabled, they
incorrectly succeed, because the sanitizers define interceptors for
these functions. This also applies to some other malloc-related
functions, such as `memalign`, `pvalloc` and `cfree`.

Fix this by not intercepting `mallinfo`, `mallopt`, `memalign`,
`pvalloc` and `cfree` for FreeBSD and macOS, in all sanitizers.

Also delete the non-functional `cfree` wrapper for Windows, to fix the
test cases on that platform.

This way, we simplify the implementation for different platforms.

For example, we cannot define weak functions on Windows, but we can
use linker pragmas to create an alias to a default implementation.
All of these implementation details are hidden in the new macro.

Also, as I modify the name for exported weak symbols on Windows, I
needed to temporarily disable "dll_host" test for asan, which checks
the list of functions included in asan_win_dll_thunk.

Dimitry Andric 47e0ef3148 Stop intercepting some malloc-related functions on FreeBSD and macOS

Kostya Serebryany 99259ee40c [asan] fix __sanitizer_cov_with_check to get the correct caller PC. Before this fix the code relied on the fact that the other function (__sanitizer_cov) is inlined. Maxim Ostapenko 2523faf677 [lsan] Enable LSan for x86 Linux.
People keep asking LSan to be available on 32 bit targets (e.g. https://github.com/google/sanitizers/issues/403)
despite the fact that false negative ratio might be huge (up to 85%). This happens for big real world applications
that may contain random binary data (e.g. browser), but for smaller apps situation is not so terrible and LSan still might be useful.
This patch adds initial support for x86 Linux (disabled by default), ARM32 is in TODO list.
We used this patch (well, ported to GCC) on our 32 bit mobile emulators and it worked pretty fine
thus I'm posting it here to initiate further discussion.

Kuba Mracek 245318cb05 [lit] Limit parallelism of sanitizer tests on Darwin [compiler-rt part, take 2]
Running lit tests and unit tests of ASan and TSan on macOS has very bad performance when running with a high number of threads. This is caused by xnu (the macOS kernel), which currently doesn't handle mapping and unmapping of sanitizer shadow regions (reserved VM which are several terabytes large) very well. The situation is so bad that increasing the number of threads actually makes the total testing time larger. The macOS buildbots are affected by this. Note that we can't easily limit the number of sanitizer testing threads without affecting the rest of the tests.

This patch adds a special "group" into lit, and limits the number of concurrently running tests in this group. This helps solve the contention problem, while still allowing other tests to run in full, that means running lit with -j8 will still with 8 threads, and parallelism is only limited in sanitizer tests.

Alex Shlyapnikov a8ba9c8e66 Whenever reasonable, merge ASAN quarantine batches to save memory.
Summary:
There are cases when thread local quarantine drains almost empty
quarantine batches into the global quarantine. The current approach leaves
them almost empty, which might create a huge memory overhead (each batch
is 4K/8K, depends on bitness).
