This restores commit r260408, along with a fix for a bot failure.
The bot failure was caused by dereferencing a unique_ptr in the same
call instruction parameter list where it was passed via std::move.
Apparently due to luck this was not exposed when I built the compiler
with clang, only with gcc.

Summary:
This patch uses the lower 64-bits of the MD5 hash of a function name as
a GUID in the function index, instead of storing function names. Any
local functions are first given a global name by prepending the original
source file name. This is the same naming scheme and GUID used by PGO in
the indexed profile format.
This change has a couple of benefits. The primary benefit is size
reduction in the combined index file, for example 483.xalancbmk's
combined index file was reduced by around 70%. It should also result in
memory savings for the index file in memory, as the in-memory map is
also indexed by the hash instead of the string.
Second, this enables integration with indirect call promotion, since the
indirect call profile targets are recorded using the same global naming
convention and hash. This will enable the function importer to easily
locate function summaries for indirect call profile targets to enable
their import and subsequent promotion.
The original source file name is recorded in the bitcode in a new
module-level record for use in the ThinLTO backend pipeline.

This patch uses one bit in profile version to differentiate Clang
instrumentation and IR level instrumentation profiles.
PGOInstrumenation generates a COMDAT variable __llvm_profile_raw_version so
that the compiler runtime can set the right profile kind.
For Maco-O platform, we generate the variable as linkonce_odr linkage as
COMDAT is not supported.
PGOInstrumenation now checks this bit to make sure it's an IR level
instrumentation profile.
The patch was submitted as r260164 but reverted due to a Darwin test breakage.

This patch adds a new class, OrcI386, which contains the hooks needed to
support lazy-JITing on i386 (currently only for Pentium 2 or above, as the JIT
re-entry code uses the FXSAVE/FXRSTOR instructions).
Support for i386 is enabled in the LLI lazy JIT and the Orc C API, and
regression and unit tests are enabled for this architecture.

Noticed while working on scattered relocations.
I do not think these relocs can actually happen in the debug_info section,

Although it seems like clang will never emit scattered relocations in
the debug information (at least I couldn't find a way), we have too
support them for the benefit of other compilers.
As clang doesn't generate them, the included testcase was produced

llvm-dsymutil was misinterpreting the value of common symbols as their
address when it actually contains their size. This didn't impact
llvm-dsymutil's ability to link the debug information for common symbols
because these are always found by name and not by address. Things could
however go wrong when the size of a common object matched the object
file address of another symbol. Depending on the link order of the symbols
the common object might incorrectly evict this other object from the
address to symbol mapping, and then link the evicted symbol with a wrong
binary address.
Use the new ability to have symbols without an object file address to fix
this.

Adds a new family of .cv_* directives to LLVM's variant of GAS syntax:
- .cv_file: Similar to DWARF .file directives
- .cv_loc: Similar to the DWARF .loc directive, but starts with a
function id. CodeView line tables are emitted by function instead of
by compilation unit, so we needed an extra field to communicate this.
Rather than overloading the .loc direction further, we decided it was
better to have our own directive.
- .cv_stringtable: Emits the codeview string table at the current
position. Currently this just contains the filenames as
null-terminated strings.
- .cv_filechecksums: Emits the file checksum table for all files used
with .cv_file so far. There is currently no support for emitting
actual checksums, just filenames.
This moves the line table emission code down into the assembler. This
is in preparation for implementing the inlined call site line table
format. The inline line table format encoding algorithm requires knowing
the absolute code offsets, so it must run after the assembler has laid
out the code.

Some architecture specific ELF section flags might have the same value
(for example SHF_X86_64_LARGE and SHF_HEX_GPREL) and we have to check
machine architectures to select an appropriate set of possible flags.

This addresses PR26060 where function lto_module_create() could return nullptr
but lto_get_error_message() returned an empty string.
The error() call after LTOModule::createFromFile() in llvm-lto is then removed
because any error from this function should go through the diagnostic handler in
llvm-lto which will exit the program. The error() call was added because this
previously did not happen when the file was non-existent. This is fixed by the
patch. (The situation that llvm-lto reports an error when the input file does
not exist is tested by llvm/tools/llvm-lto/error.ll).

Additionally, changed the expected shared library names from
(e.g.) LLVM-3.8.0 to LLVM-3.8. The former exists only in an
installation (and then only in CMake builds I think?), and not
in the build tree; this breaks usage of llvm-config during
builds, e.g. by llvm-go.

Currently llvm::SplitModule as the first step globalizes all local objects, which might not be desirable in some scenarios.
This change adds a new flag to llvm::SplitModule that uses SCC approach to search for a balanced partition without the need to externalize symbols.
Such partition might not be possible or fully balanced for a given number of partitions, and is a function of the module properties (global/local dependencies within the module).

Binary annotations are encoded along the lines of UTF-8 and ECI but with
a few minor differences.
The algorithm specified in "ECMA-335 CLI Section II.3.2 - Blobs and
Signatures" is used to compress binary annotations. Signed binary

rotated left to reduce the number of bits needed to be encoded.

Today, we always take into account the possibility that object files
produced by MC may be consumed by an incremental linker. This results
in us initialing fields which vary with time (TimeDateStamp) which harms
hermetic builds (e.g. verifying a self-host went well) and produces
sub-optimal code because we cannot assume anything about the relative
position of functions within a section (call sites can get redirected
through incremental linker thunks).
Let's provide an MCTargetOption which controls this behavior so that we
can disable this functionality if we know a-priori that the build will
not rely on /incremental.

With the support of value profiling added, the Indexed prof
reader gets less efficient. The prof reader initialization
used to be just reading the file header, but with VP support
added, initialization needs to walk through all profile keys
of ondisk hash table resulting in very poor locality and large
memory increase (keys are stored together with the profile data
in the mapped profile buffer). Even worse, when the reader is
used by the compiler (not llvm-profdata too), the penalty becomes
very high as compilation of each single module requires touching
profile data buffer for the whole program.
In this patch, the icall target values (MD5hash) are no longer eargerly
converted back to name strings when the data is read into memory. New
interface is added to to profile reader so that InstrProfSymtab can be
lazily created for Indexed profile reader on-demand. Creating of the
symtab is intended to be used by llvm-profdata tool for symbolic dumping
of VP data. It can be used with compiler (for legacy out of tree uses)
too but not recommended due to compile time and memory reasons
mentioned above.
Some other cleanups are also included: Function Addr to md5 map is now
consolated into InstrProfSymtab. InstrProfStringtab is no longer used and
eliminated.

This patch converts code that has access to a LLVMContext to not take a
diagnostic handler.
This has a few advantages
* It is easier to use a consistent diagnostic handler in a single program.
* Less clutter since we are not passing a handler around.
It does make it a bit awkward to implement some C APIs that return a
diagnostic string. I will propose new versions of these APIs and
deprecate the current ones.

It turns out that terminatepad gives little benefit over a cleanuppad
which calls the termination function. This is not sufficient to
implement fully generic filters but MSVC doesn't support them which
makes terminatepad a little over-designed.

While we have successfully implemented a funclet-oriented EH scheme on
top of LLVM IR, our scheme has some notable deficiencies:
- catchendpad and cleanupendpad are necessary in the current design
but they are difficult to explain to others, even to seasoned LLVM
experts.
- catchendpad and cleanupendpad are optimization barriers. They cannot
be split and force all potentially throwing call-sites to be invokes.
This has a noticable effect on the quality of our code generation.
- catchpad, while similar in some aspects to invoke, is fairly awkward.
It is unsplittable, starts a funclet, and has control flow to other
funclets.
- The nesting relationship between funclets is currently a property of
control flow edges. Because of this, we are forced to carefully
analyze the flow graph to see if there might potentially exist illegal
nesting among funclets. While we have logic to clone funclets when
they are illegally nested, it would be nicer if we had a
representation which forbade them upfront.
Let's clean this up a bit by doing the following:
- Instead, make catchpad more like cleanuppad and landingpad: no control
flow, just a bunch of simple operands; catchpad would be splittable.
- Introduce catchswitch, a control flow instruction designed to model
the constraints of funclet oriented EH.
- Make funclet scoping explicit by having funclet instructions consume
the token produced by the funclet which contains them.
- Remove catchendpad and cleanupendpad. Their presence can be inferred
implicitly using coloring information.
N.B. The state numbering code for the CLR has been updated but the
veracity of it's output cannot be spoken for. An expert should take a
look to make sure the results are reasonable.

A linker normally has two stages: symbol resolution and "moving stuff".
In lib/Linker there is the complication of lazy linking some globals,
but it was still far more mixed than it needed to.
This splits the linker into a lower level IRMover and the linker proper.
The IRMover just takes a list of globals to move and a callback that
lets the user control what is lazy linked.
The main motivation is that now tools/gold (and soon lld) can use their
own symbol resolution to instruct IRMover what to do.

that the passes may be non-idempotent. However, for some reason
I decided to put that AFTER the passes had already run on the
module, defeating the point entirely. Fix that by moving up the
CloneModule as is done in llc.

Before this patch the diagnostic handler was optional. If it was not
passed, the one in the LLVMContext was used.
That is probably not a pattern we want to follow. If each area has an
optional callback, there is a sea of callbacks and it is hard to follow
which one is called.
Doing this also found cases where the callback is a nice addition, like
testing that no errors or warnings are reported.
The other option is to always use the diagnostic handler in the
LLVMContext. That has a few problems
* To implement the C API we would have to set the diag handler and then
set it back to the original value.
* Code that creates the context might be far away from code that wants
the diagnostics.
I do have a patch that implements the second option and will send that as
an RFC.

Summary: Lately, I have submitted a number of patches to fix bugs that
only occurred when using the same pass manager to compile multiple
modules (generally these bugs are failure to reset some persistent
state). Unfortunately I don't think there is currently a way to test
that from the command line. This adds a very simple flag to both llc
and opt, under which the tools will simply re-run their respective
pass pipelines using the same pass manager on (a clone of the same
module). Additionally, we verify that both outputs are bitwise the
same.

TUs, but it's in the sample .dwos (generated by clang) so dwp should
reflect that.
Arguably the DWP tool could be smart enough to know that the CUs

legitimately generated for TUs, but that's a bit more off-book.

This change adds support for an optional weight when merging profile data with the llvm-profdata tool.
Weights are specified by adding an option ':<weight>' suffix to the input file names.
Adding support for arbitrary weighting of input profile data allows for relative importance to be placed on the
input data from multiple training runs.
Both sampled and instrumented profiles are supported.

There is no real reason the index has to have the concept of an
exporting Module. We should be able to have one single unique
instance of the Index, and it should be read-only after creation
for the whole ThinLTO processing.
The linker plugin should be able to process multiple modules (in
parallel or in sequence) with the same index.
The only reason the ExportingModule was present seems to be to
implement hasExportedFunctions() that is used by the Module linker
to decide what to do with the current Module.
For now I replaced it with a query to the map of Modules path to
see if this module was declared in the Index and consider that if
it is the case then it is probably exporting function.
On the long term the Linker interface needs to evolve and this
call should not be needed anymore.

This is very rudimentary support for debug_cu_index, but it is enough to
allow llvm-dwarfdump to find the offsets for contributions and
correctly dump debug_info.
It will need to actually find the real signature of the unit and build
the real hash table with the right number of buckets, as per the DWP

GlobalAliases may reference function definitions, but not function declarations.
bugpoint would sometimes create invalid IR by deleting a function's body (thus
mutating a function definition into a declaration) without first 'fixing' any
GlobalAliases that reference that function definition.
This change iteratively prevents that issue. Before deleting a function's body,
it scans the module for GlobalAliases which reference that function. When
found, it eliminates them using replaceAllUsesWith.

Summary:
Several fixes to the handling of bitcode files without function summary
sections so that they are skipped during ThinLTO processing in llvm-lto
and the gold plugin when appropriate instead of aborting.
1 Don't assert when trying to add a FunctionInfo that doesn't have
a summary attached.
2 Skip FunctionInfo structures that don't have attached function summary
sections when trying to create the combined function summary.
3 In both llvm-lto and gold-plugin, check whether a bitcode file has
a function summary section before trying to parse the index, and skip
the bitcode file if it does not.
4 Fix hasFunctionSummaryInMemBuffer in BitcodeReader, which had a bug
where we returned to early while looking for the summary section.
Also added llvm-lto and gold-plugin based tests for cases where we
don't have function summaries in the bitcode file. I verified that
either the first couple fixes described above are enough to avoid the
crashes, or fixes 1,3,4. But have combined them all here for added
robustness.

reproduction of a recent bug introduced by a metadata linking change
that was only caught when the modules weren't destroyed before

Summary:

To avoid needing to parse the module level metadata during function
importing, a new module-level record is added which holds the
number of module-level metadata values. This is required because
metadata value ids are assigned implicitly during parsing, and the
function-level metadata ids start after the module-level metadata ids.
I made a change to this version of the code compared to D14752
in order to add more consistent and thorough assertion checking of the
new record value. We now unconditionally use the record value to
initialize the MDValueList size, and handle it the same in parseMetadata
for all module level metadata cases (lazy loading or not).

- "llvm-lto -save-merged-module -o outfile" dumps the LTO Module to
outfile.merged.bc prior to CodeGen and after LTO optimizations have been run.

This patch removes the std::string& argument from a number of C++ LTO API calls
and instead makes them use the installed diagnostic handler. This would also
improve consistency of diagnostic handling infrastructure: if an LTO client used
lto_codegen_set_diagnostic_handler() to install a custom error handler, we do
not want some error messages to go through the custom error handler, and some
other error messages to go into sLastErrorString.

Summary:
There are currently two blocks with the METADATA_BLOCK id at module
scope. The first has the module-level metadata values (consisting of
some combination of METADATA_* record codes except for METADATA_KIND).
The second consists only of METADATA_KIND records. The latter is used
only in the METADATA_ATTACHMENT block within function blocks (for
metadata attached to instructions).
For ThinLTO we want to delay the parsing of module level metadata
until all functions have been imported from that module (there is some
bookkeeping used to suture it up when we read it during a post-pass).
However, we do need the METADATA_KIND records when parsing the function
body during importing, since those kinds are used as described above.
To simplify identification and parsing of just the block containing
the metadata kinds, use a different block id (METADATA_KIND_BLOCK_ID).
Support older bitcode without the new block id as well.
