Martin Storsjo 68df812cce [MinGW] Move code for indicating "potentially not DSO local" into shouldAssumeDSOLocal. NFC.
On Windows, if shouldAssumeDSOLocal returns false, it's either a
dllimport reference, or a reference that we should treat as non-local
and create a stub for.

Clean up AArch64Subtarget::ClassifyGlobalReference a little while
touching the flag handling relating to dllimport.

Adrian Prantl 5f8f34e459 Remove \brief commands from doxygen comments.
We've been running doxygen with the autobrief option for a couple of

encourage more \brief markers in new code either, this patch removes

Rafael Espindola 63c378d343 Go back to sometimes assuming intristics are local.
This fixes pr36674.

While it is valid for shouldAssumeDSOLocal to return false anytime,
always returning false for intrinsics is not optimal on i386 and also
hits a bug in the backend.

To use a plt, the caller must first setup ebx to handle the case of
that file being linked into a PIE executable or shared library. In
those cases the generated PLT uses ebx.

Currently we can produce "calll expf@plt" without setting ebx. We
could fix that by correctly setting ebx, but this would produce worse
code for the case where the runtime library is statically linked. It
would also required other tools to handle R_386_PLT32.

Chih-Hung Hsieh 9f9e4681ac [TLS] use emulated TLS if the target supports only this mode
Emulated TLS is enabled by llc flag -emulated-tls,
which is passed by clang driver.
When llc is called explicitly or from other drivers like LTO,
missing -emulated-tls flag would generate wrong TLS code for targets
that supports only this mode.
Now use useEmulatedTLS() instead of Options.EmulatedTLS to decide whether
emulated TLS code should be generated.
Unit tests are modified to run with and without the -emulated-tls flag.

Rafael Espindola c7e51805ff Bring back r323297.
It was reverted because it broke the grub build. The reason the grub
build broke is because grub does its own relocation processing and was
not handing R_386_PLT32. Since grub has no dynamic linker, the fix is
trivial: handle R_386_PLT32 exactly like R_386_PC32.

On the report it was noted that they are using
-fno-integrated-assembler. The upstream GAS (starting with
451875b4f976a527395e9303224c7881b65e12ed) will already be producing a
R_386_PLT32 anyway, so they have to update their code one way or the
other

Original message:

Don't assume a null GV is local for ELF and MachO.

This is already a simplification, and should help with avoiding a plt
reference when calling an intrinsic with -fno-plt.

With this change we return false for null GVs, so the caller only
needs to check the new metadata to decide if it should use foo@plt or
*foo@got.

Rafael Espindola e4b0231c63 Make internal/private GVs implicitly dso_local.
While updating clang tests for having clang set dso_local I noticed
that:

- There are *a lot* of tests to update.
- Many of the updates are redundant.

They are redundant because a GV is "obviously dso_local". This patch
starts formalizing that a bit by requiring that internal and private
GVs be dso_local too. Since they all are, we don't have to print
dso_local to the textual representation, making it a bit more compact
and easier to read.

Sanjoy Das 26d11ca4b0 (Re-landing) Expose a TargetMachine::getTargetTransformInfo function
Re-land r321234. It had to be reverted because it broke the shared
library build. The shared library build broke because there was a
missing LLVMBuild dependency from lib/Passes (which calls
TargetMachine::getTargetIRAnalysis) to lib/Target. As far as I can
tell, this problem was always there but was somehow masked
before (perhaps because TargetMachine::getTargetIRAnalysis was a
virtual function).

Original commit message:

This makes the TargetMachine interface a bit simpler. We still need
the std::function in TargetIRAnalysis to avoid having to add a
dependency from Analysis to Target.

See discussion:
http://lists.llvm.org/pipermail/llvm-dev/2017-December/119749.html

change is simple, but let me know if you feel differently about this.

Rafael Espindola 2393c3b4e1 Handle undefined weak hidden symbols on all architectures.
We were handling the non-hidden case in lib/Target/TargetMachine.cpp,
but the hidden case was handled in architecture dependent code and
only X86_64 and AArch64 were covered.

While it is true that some code sequences in some ABIs might be able
to produce the correct value at runtime, that doesn't seem to be the
common case.

I left the AArch64 code in place since it also forces a got access for
non-pic code. It is not clear if that is needed, but it is probably
better to change that in another commit.

Sean Fertile c70d28bff5 Represent runtime preemption in the IR.
Currently we do not represent runtime preemption in the IR, which has several
drawbacks:

  1) The semantics of GlobalValues differ depending on the object file format
you are targeting (as well as the relocation-model and -fPIE value).
  2) We have no way of disabling inlining of run time interposable functions,
since in the IR we only know if a function is link-time interposable.
Because of this llvm cannot support elf-interposition semantics.
  3) In LTO builds of executables we will have extra knowledge that a symbol
resolved to a local definition and can't be preemptable, but have no way to
propagate that knowledge through the compiler.

This patch adds preemptability specifiers to the IR with the following meaning:

dso_local --> means the compiler may assume the symbol will resolve to a
definition within the current linkage unit and the symbol may be accessed
directly even if the definition is not within this compilation unit.

dso_preemptable --> means that the compiler must assume the GlobalValue may be
replaced with a definition from outside the current linkage unit at runtime.

To ease transitioning dso_preemptable is treated as a 'default' in that
low-level codegen will still do the same checks it did previously to see if a
symbol should be accessed indirectly. Eventually when IR producers emit the
specifiers on all Globalvalues we can change dso_preemptable to mean 'always
access indirectly', and remove the current logic.

Justin Lebar 7d81813d76 [TM] Restore default TargetOptions in TargetMachine::resetTargetOptions.
Summary:
Previously if you had

 * a function with the fast-math-enabled attr, followed by
 * a function without the fast-math attr,

the second function would inherit the first function's fast-math-ness.

This means that mixing fast-math and non-fast-math functions in a module
was completely broken unless you explicitly annotated every
non-fast-math function with "unsafe-fp-math"="false". This appears to
have been broken since r176986 (March 2013), when the resetTargetOptions
function was introduced.

This patch tests the correct behavior as best we can. I don't think I
can test FPDenormalMode and NoTrappingFPMath, because they aren't used
in any backends during function lowering. Surprisingly, I also can't
find any uses at all of LessPreciseFPMAD affecting generated code.

The NVPTX/fast-math.ll test changes are an expected result of fixing
this bug. When FMA is disabled, we emit add as "add.rn.f32", which
prevents fma combining. Before this patch, fast-math was enabled in all
functions following the one which explicitly enabled it on itself, so we
were emitting plain "add.f32" where we should have generated
"add.rn.f32".

Eric Christopher c4636b3002 Revert "Remove extra argument used once on
TargetMachine::getNameWithPrefix and inline the result into the singular
caller." and "Remove more guts of TargetMachine::getNameWithPrefix and
migrate one check to the TLOF mach-o version." temporarily until I can
get the whole call migrated out of the TargetMachine as we could hit
places where TLOF isn't valid.

This reverts commits r281981 and r281983.

Sjoerd Meijer 46b5b88387 Clang patch r280064 introduced ways to set the FP exceptions and denormal
types. This is the LLVM counterpart and it adds options that map onto FP
exceptions and denormal build attributes allowing better fp math library
selections.

Mehdi Amini cfed2564f7 Add EnableIPRA to TargetOptions, and move the cl::opt -enable-ipra to TargetMachine.cpp
Avoid exposing a cl::opt in a public header and instead promote this
option in the API.
Alternatively, we could land the cl::opt in CommandFlags.h so that
it is available to every tool, but we would still have to find an
option for clang.

Rafael Espindola d86e8bb0ed Delete MCCodeGenInfo.
MC doesn't really care about CodeGen stuff, so this was just
complicating target initialization.
