As reported in Bug 42535, `clang` doesn't inline atomic ops on 32-bit
Sparc, unlike `gcc` on Solaris. In a 1-stage build with `gcc`, only two
testcases are affected (currently `XFAIL`ed), while in a 2-stage build more
than 100 tests `FAIL` due to this issue.
The reason for this `gcc`/`clang` difference is that `gcc` on 32-bit
Solaris/SPARC defaults to `-mpcu=v9` where atomic ops are supported, unlike
with `clang`'s default of `-mcpu=v8`. This patch changes `clang` to use
`-mcpu=v9` on 32-bit Solaris/SPARC, too.
Doing so uncovered two bugs:
`clang -m32 -mcpu=v9` chokes with any Solaris system headers included:
/usr/include/sys/isa_defs.h:461:2: error: "Both _ILP32 and _LP64 are defined"
#error "Both _ILP32 and _LP64 are defined"
While `clang` currently defines `__sparcv9` in a 32-bit `-mcpu=v9`
compilation, neither `gcc` nor Studio `cc` do. In fact, the Studio 12.6
`cc(1)` man page clearly states:
These predefinitions are valid in all modes:
[...]
__sparcv8 (SPARC)
__sparcv9 (SPARC -m64)
At the same time, the patch defines `__GCC_HAVE_SYNC_COMPARE_AND_SWAP_[1248]`
for a 32-bit Sparc compilation with any V9 cpu. I've also changed
`MaxAtomicInlineWidth` for V9, matching what `gcc` does and the Oracle
Developer Studio 12.6: C User's Guide documents (Ch. 3, Support for Atomic
Types, 3.1 Size and Alignment of Atomic C Types).
The two testcases that had been `XFAIL`ed for Bug 42535 are un-`XFAIL`ed
again.
Tested on `sparcv9-sun-solaris2.11` and `amd64-pc-solaris2.11`.

Summary:
This patch implements parsing support for the 'arm_sve_vector_bits' type
attribute, defined by the Arm C Language Extensions (ACLE, version 00bet5,
section 3.7.3) for SVE [1].
The purpose of this attribute is to define fixed-length (VLST) versions
of existing sizeless types (VLAT). For example:
#if __ARM_FEATURE_SVE_BITS==512
typedef svint32_t fixed_svint32_t __attribute__((arm_sve_vector_bits(512)));
#endif
Creates a type 'fixed_svint32_t' that is a fixed-length version of
'svint32_t' that is normal-sized (rather than sizeless) and contains
exactly 512 bits. Unlike 'svint32_t', this type can be used in places
such as structs and arrays where sizeless types can't.
Implemented in this patch is the following:
* Defined and tested attribute taking single argument.
* Checks the argument is an integer constant expression.
* Attribute can only be attached to a single SVE vector or predicate
type, excluding tuple types such as svint32x4_t.
* Added the `-msve-vector-bits=<bits>` flag. When specified the
`__ARM_FEATURE_SVE_BITS__EXPERIMENTAL` macro is defined.
* Added a language option to store the vector size specified by the
`-msve-vector-bits=<bits>` flag. This is used to validate `N ==
__ARM_FEATURE_SVE_BITS`, where N is the number of bits passed to the
attribute and `__ARM_FEATURE_SVE_BITS` is the feature macro defined under
the same flag.
The `__ARM_FEATURE_SVE_BITS` macro will be made non-experimental in the final
patch of the series.

Previously we inferred it if sse4.2 ended up being enabled after
all feature processing. But writing -march=nehalem -mno-sse4.2
should have popcnt enabled.
These features implicitly enabled XSAVE in the frontend, but not
the backend. Disabling XSAVE in the frontend disabled XSAVEOPT, but
not the other 2. Nothing happened in the backend.
The PREFETCHW instruction was originally part of the 3DNow. But
it was given its own CPUID bit on later CPUs just before 3DNow
was deprecated.
We were setting the -mprfchw flag if -m3dnow was passed or the CPU
supported 3dnow unless -mno-prfchw was passed. But -march=native
on a CPU without the PRFCHW CPUID bit set will pass -mno-prfchw.
So -march=k8 will behave differently than -march=native on a K8
for example.
So remove this implicit setting from the frontend and instead
enable the backend to use PREFETCHW if 3dnow OR prfchw is enabled.
Also enable PRFCHW flag on amdfam10/barcelona which seems to be
where this CPUID bit was introduced. That CPU also supported
3dnow.

__ARM_FEATURE_SVE2_SHA3 (+sve2-sha3)
__ARM_FEATURE_SVE2_SM4 (+sve2-sm4)
This implies that the base SVE and SVE2 ACLE (00bet2) are now feature
complete, meaning that all intrinsics are implemented in LLVM and Clang.
Disclaimer:
To implement the ACLE we have had to fix up many parts of LLVM to make it
support scalable vectors. We have also used many target-specific intrinsics
to reduce reliance on parts of LLVM where we know scalable vectors may
not yet be handled properly (e.g. some transformation might drop the
'scalable' flag on a vector type). While we've done a best effort with
the limited testing that is available to us, we're still working to improve the
stability of the implementation. Additionally, Clang may print warnings
that code may have miscompiled. We find this often to be a false alarm
where the wrong interfaces have been used in LLVM and where resulting
code is not actually incorrect. However, this warrants a bug report
and investigation. If you find any bugs or issues, please raise them on
bugs.llvm.org and let us know!

This flag is like /showIncludes, but it only includes user headers and
omits system headers (similar to MD and MMD). The motivation is that
projects that already track system includes though other means can use
this flag to get consistent behavior on Windows and non-Windows, and it
saves tools that output /showIncludes output (e.g. ninja) some work.
implementation-wise, this makes `HeaderIncludesCallback` honor the
existing `IncludeSystemHeaders` bit, and changes the three clients of
`HeaderIncludesCallback` (`/showIncludes`, `-H`, `CC_PRINT_HEADERS=1`)
to pass `-sys-header-deps` to set that bit -- except for
`/showIncludes:user`, which doesn't pass it.

Summary:
- The device compilation needs to have a consistent source code compared
to the corresponding host compilation. If macros based on the
host-specific target processor is not properly populated, the device
compilation may fail due to the inconsistent source after the
preprocessor. So far, only the host triple is used to build the
macros. If a detailed host CPU target or certain features are
specified, macros derived from them won't be populated properly, e.g.
`__SSE3__` won't be added unless `+sse3` feature is present. On
Windows compilation compatible with MSVC, that missing macros result
in that intrinsics are not included and cause device compilation
failure on the host-side source.
- This patch addresses this issue by introducing two `cc1` options,
i.e., `-aux-target-cpu` and `-aux-target-feature`. If a specific host
CPU target or certain features are specified, the compiler driver will
append them during the construction of the offline compilation
actions. Then, the toolchain in `cc1` phase will populate macros
accordingly.
- An internal option `--gpu-use-aux-triple-only` is added to fall back
the original behavior to help diagnosing potential issues from the new
behavior.

All SSE capable CPUs have MMX. 3dnow implicitly enables MMX.
We have code that detects if sse is enabled and implicitly enables
MMX unless -mno-mmx is passed. So in most cases we were already
enabling MMX if march passed a CPU that supported SSE.
The exception to this is if you pass -march for a cpu supports SSE
and also pass -mno-sse. We should still enable MMX since its part
of the CPU capability.
In Microsoft-compatibility mode, single commas from nested macro expansions
should not be considered as argument separators; we already emulated this by
marking them to be ignored. However, in MSVC's preprocessor, subsequent
expansions DO treat these commas as argument separators... so we now ignore

I noticed that compiling on Windows with -fno-ms-compatibility had the
side effect of defining __GNUC__, along with __GNUG__, __GXX_RTTI__, and
a number of other macros for GCC compatibility. This is undesirable and
causes Chromium to do things like mix __attribute__ and __declspec,
which doesn't work. We should have a positive language option to enable
GCC compatibility features so that we can experiment with
-fno-ms-compatibility on Windows. This change adds -fgnuc-version= to be
that option.
My issue aside, users have, for a long time, reported that __GNUC__
doesn't match their expectations in one way or another. We have
encouraged users to migrate code away from this macro, but new code
continues to be written assuming a GCC-only environment. There's really
nothing we can do to stop that. By adding this flag, we can allow them
to choose their own adventure with __GNUC__.
This overlaps a bit with the "GNUMode" language option from -std=gnu*.
The gnu language mode tends to enable non-conforming behaviors that we'd
rather not enable by default, but the we want to set things like
__GXX_RTTI__ by default, so I've kept these separate.

In `DirectoryLookup::LookupFile` parameter `HasBeenMapped` doesn't cover
the case when clang finds a file through a header map but doesn't remap
the lookup filename because the target path is an absolute path. As a
result, -Wnonportable-include-path suppression for header maps
introduced in r301592 wasn't triggered.
Change parameter `HasBeenMapped` to `IsInHeaderMap` and use parameter
`MappedName` to track the filename remapping. This way we can handle
both relative and absolute paths in header maps, and account for their
specific properties, like filename remapping being a property preserved
across lookups in multiple directories.

llvm-svn: 362806
Change D60691 caused some knock-on failures that weren't caught by the
existing tests. Firstly, selecting a CPU that should have had a
restricted FPU (e.g. `-mcpu=cortex-m4`, which should have 16 d-regs
and no double precision) could give the unrestricted version, because
`ARM::getFPUFeatures` returned a list of features including subtracted
ones (here `-fp64`,`-d32`), but `ARMTargetInfo::initFeatureMap` threw
away all the ones that didn't start with `+`. Secondly, the
preprocessor macros didn't reliably match the actual compilation
settings: for example, `-mfpu=softvfp` could still set `__ARM_FP` as
if hardware FP was available, because the list of features on the cc1
command line would include things like `+vfp4`,`-vfp4d16` and clang
didn't realise that one of those cancelled out the other.
I've fixed both of these issues by rewriting `ARM::getFPUFeatures` so
that it returns a list that enables every FP-related feature
compatible with the selected FPU and disables every feature not
compatible, which is more verbose but means clang doesn't have to
understand the dependency relationships between the backend features.
Meanwhile, `ARMTargetInfo::handleTargetFeatures` is testing for all
the various forms of the FP feature names, so that it won't miss cases
where it should have set `HW_FP` to feed into feature test macros.
That in turn caused an ordering problem when handling `-mcpu=foo+bar`
together with `-mfpu=something_that_turns_off_bar`. To fix that, I've
arranged that the `+bar` suffixes on the end of `-mcpu` and `-march`
cause feature names to be put into a separate vector which is
concatenated after the output of `getFPUFeatures`.
Another side effect of all this is to fix a bug where `clang -target
armv8-eabi` by itself would fail to set `__ARM_FEATURE_FMA`, even
though `armv8` (aka Arm v8-A) implies FP-Armv8 which has FMA. That was
because `HW_FP` was being set to a value including only the `FPARMV8`
bit, but that feature test macro was testing only the `VFP4FPU` bit.
Now `HW_FP` ends up with all the bits set, so it gives the right
answer.
Changes to tests included in this patch:
* `arm-target-features.c`: I had to change basically all the expected
results. (The Cortex-M4 test in there should function as a
regression test for the accidental double-precision bug.)
* `arm-mfpu.c`, `armv8.1m.main.c`: switched to using `CHECK-DAG`
everywhere so that those tests are no longer sensitive to the order
of cc1 feature options on the command line.
* `arm-acle-6.5.c`: been updated to expect the right answer to that
FMA test.
* `Preprocessor/arm-target-features.c`: added a regression test for
the `mfpu=softvfp` issue.

The magnitude range of normalized _Float16 is 2^-14 (~6e-5) to

correct to defne FLT16_MIN_EXP and FLT16_MAX_EXP to be -14 and 15
respectively. However, for some reason the C specification actually
specifies a bias for these macros:
C11 5.2.4.2.2:
- minimum negative integer such that FLT_RADIX raised to one less than
that power is a normalized floating-point number, e_min:
FLT_MIN_EXP
DBL_MIN_EXP

- maximum integer such that FLT_RADIX raised to one less than that
power is a representable finite floating-point number, e_max:
FLT_MAX_EXP
DBL_MAX_EXP
LDBL_MAX_EXP
FLT16_MIN_EXP and FLT16_MAX_EXP should clearly be biased the same way,
and other compilers do in fact do so, as do our OpenCL headers for `half`.

Summary:
In the clang UI, replaces -mthread-model posix with -matomics as the
source of truth on threading. In the backend, replaces
-thread-model=posix with the atomics target feature, which is now
collected on the WebAssemblyTargetMachine along with all other used
features. These collected features will also be used to emit the
target features section in the future.
The default configuration for the backend is thread-model=posix and no
atomics, which was previously an invalid configuration. This change
makes the default valid because the thread model is ignored.
A side effect of this change is that objects are never emitted with
passive segments. It will instead be up to the linker to decide
whether sections should be active or passive based on whether atomics
are used in the final link.

When debugging a boost build with a modified

stores TokenKind in 8 bits. However, we currently have 368
TokenKinds.
The result is that the value gets truncated and the wrong token
gets picked up when including PTH files. It seems that this will
go wrong every time someone uses a token that uses the 9th bit.
Upon asking on IRC, it was brought up that this was a highly
experimental features that was considered a failure. I discovered
via googling that BoostBuild (mostly Boost.Math) is the only user of
this
feature, using the CC1 flag directly. I believe that this can be
transferred over to normal PCH with minimal effort:

Previously these would be transformed into annotation tokens and the
preprocessor would then assume they were real tokens with source
locations and assert/UB.
Other pragmas that produce annotation tokens aren't a problem because
they aren't handled if the parser isn't hooked up - ParsePragma.cpp
registers those handlers & isn't run for pure preprocessing. So they're
treated as unknown pragmas & printed verbatim by the preprocessor.
Perhaps these pragmas should be treated the same way? But they got mixed
in with other __debug pragmas that do need to be handled during
preprocessing.
The third __debug pragma that produces an annotation token is 'captured'
- which had its own fix for this issue - by not inserting the annotation
token in the first place if it detected that it was in preprocessing
mode. I've removed that fix (from Lex/Pragma.cpp) in favor of the more
general one in Frontend/PrintPreprocessedOutput.cpp.

Summary:
gcc defines macros such as __code_model_small_ based on the user passed command line flag -mcmodel. clang accepts a flag with the same name and similar effects, but does not generate any macro that the user can use. This cl narrows the gap between gcc and clang behaviour.
However, achieving full compatibility with gcc is not trivial: The set of valid values for mcmodel in gcc and clang are not equal. Also, gcc defines different macros for different architectures. In this cl, we only tackle an easy part of the problem and define the macro only for x64 architecture. When the user does not specify a mcmodel, the macro for small code model is produced, as is the case with gcc.

When compiling CUDA or OpenMP device code Clang parses header files
that expect certain predefined macros from the host architecture. To
make this work the compiler passes the host triple via the -aux-triple
argument and (until now) pulls in all macros for that "auxiliary triple"
unconditionally.
However this results in defines like __SSE_MATH__ that will trigger
inline assembly making use of the "advertised" target features. See
the discussion of D47849 and PR38464 for a detailed explanation of
the encountered problems.
Instead of blacklisting "known bad" examples this patch starts adding
defines that are needed for certain headers like bits/wordsize.h and
bits/mathinline.h.
The disadvantage of this approach is that it decouples the definitions
from their target toolchain. However in my opinion it's more important
to keep definitions for one header close together. For one this will
include a clear documentation why these particular defines are needed.
Furthermore it simplifies maintenance because adding defines for a new
header or support for a new aux-triple only needs to touch one piece
of code.
